Predictions were looking incredibly close until the end, when guyver3 opened up a lead thanks to being the only person to get both bonus picks correct - several had Marat for fastest match; he was the only one to also get Tommy vs Steve for best.

Cornell, Hawkins and Jack Bruce were the only unanimous picks, with Cornell's elimination being the massive shock. ShadowedFlames was the only person to correctly predict Hayes's victory over Rich Money, although he was also the only person NOT to get Frehley's win over Love. Faith (4-6), Stone (6-4), Rogue (4-6), RDJ (6-4) and Eisen (4-6) were the most evenly picked winners.

I don't know if I'm more surprised at Cornell or Money losing... maybe I'm underestimating those soulless NOTBPW hacks when it comes to wrestling. :p

... and I resent claims that Steve has no soul. It's black as coal from abandoning his brothers, but at least he has one. #DeColtsRule

(Rest of the scouting reports in about 12 hours, first 4 matches from this round 24 hours or so after that.)

Scouting Reports

CHRISTIAN FAITH vs REMO

While several people thought Sean McFly would be too good for Christian Faith, the aging star showed why he's been so successful over the last few decades, emerging victorious in an absolute classic thanks to a Test of Faith. This time around, though, he'll be up against a much younger, bigger, stronger and fitter man than himself, the monstrous Remo. can the fairytale continue for The Iron Man?

JOHNNY BLOODSTONE vs JOEY MINNESOTA

Johnny Bloodstone destroyed Magnum Kobe in one of the quickest wins of the last round, while Joey Minnesota needed just a couple of minutes more than Bloodstone to win his fight, against The Natural. The way this one goes could depend on where the majority of the match takes place. If the two stay on their feet, Minnesota's superior strength, speed and striking give him the advantage, but you'd have to think that if and when they go to the mat Bloodstone's ground game will give him the edge, thanks to his ability to slap on a submission seemingly from out of nowhere.

DAN STONE JR vs CHAMPAGNE LOVER

This pair both beat stars from the top US companies, as Stone got a relatively easy victory over a somewhat subdued Eddie Peak, and CL won a match against Angry Gilmore in which neither man seemed to be going full blast. This should be a better bout. As good as Lover is, Dan Stone Jr seems to be at least slightly superior in nearly every department, but as the only Mexican wrestler in the tournament, Marquez has the hopes of a country riding on him. With the American fans likely to cheer for the ultra-charismatic actor/wrestler rather than the all-business Stone, the overwhelming crowd support may inspire Champagne Lover to pull something out here.

STEVE DECOLT vs WOLF HAWKINS

After perhaps the biggest shock of the first round, as Steve DeColt weathered the storm of a great start by Tommy Cornell to come back and defeat the TCW owner, he now takes on Hawkins, Cornell's protege. Wolf is significantly faster, better on the ground, and has more stamina, but as his mentor will be able to inform him, DeColt hits like a freight train considering he's only a light heavyweight. We saw Steve's legendary preparation come into play last match as he avoided several attempts at the Rough Ride from Cornell - will Wolf be any more successful at hitting his Full Moon Rising?

Sorry for the delay on this, started a game as Kikkawa last night and next thing I realised it was 8 months into the game and 2 am in the morning! (He's incredible to play with, I'm something like 35-0 after another month this morning - have just vacated my Burning World title after getting my reign up to Legendary.)

Scouting Reports

JACK BRUCE vs ROGUE

Two SWF stars who've met many times in the past here collide. Bruce has generally had the better of his encounters with the former Jack Giedroyc - he's a better wrestler, at least slightly, in just about every area, and feeds off the cheers of the crowd. However Rogue is a master rule-breaker - arguably one of the best in the SWF - and has THE best, Emma Chase, in his corner. Could she level things up for the Brit? In the first round, Bruce had a win over Rick Law in a very good match, while Rogue won via count-out against Duane Stone after hitting Crashing On on the outside and rolling back into the ring to end a good sprint.

RDJ vs MARAT KHOKLOV

Johnson had a surprisingly easy win over Vengeance in round 1; the monster lasting just 21 minutes and taking two consecutive Southern Justices before being pinned. Khoklov had an easy win, as most fans expected he would, against Troy Tornado. JOhnson has the advantage here in most areas except strength - but while he's no slouch in the power department himself, the one-dimensional Khoklov has a huge headstart on him in that respect. Both men have hard heads, although Johnson bleeds surprisingly easily - having said that, he doesn't seem to let it faze him. In a battle of these two big men, who will emerge victorious?

ROCKY GOLDEN vs RK HAYES

Golden won a fairly decent match against fellow fan favourite Nicky Champion, ending USPW's interest in the tournament very quickly. Hayes won a back and forth bout against Rich Money, who at one point seemed to be dominating but couldn't quite put the NOTBPW star away, allowing the bigger man to hit his patented Homicide Bomb. Golden - a really powerful and charismatic star who explodes out of the blocks like a rocket - seems to be the favourite here. Hayes, though, seemed to relish his role as underdog against Rich Money and will be looking to pull off another upset here. Given his resilience, you'd be brave to bet against him.

ERIC EISEN vs STEVE FREHLEY

Eisen beat fellow SWF star Valiant in a Match of the Year candidate in the first round, while Frehley scraped a victory over Owen Love after choke slamming him from the ring to the outside and collapsing inside to earn a count-out victory. Eisen is the faster and better technical wrestler, and has more stamina, but Frehley is much stronger. With Eisen's bad knee never having fully recovered from his 2008 injury, Frehley will know that if he can concentrate on that leg he can nullify Eric's speed advantage. However Eric's known as a master technician and you have to believe that despite the meetings between these two being relatively few for a pair who've been SWF main eventers for some time, the smaller man will have The Dark Destroyer wll scouted.

Again, sorry for delay - second half of this round hopefully up tomorrow; assuming I can tear myself away from defending Kikkawa's King of Fighters title for a bit!

SECOND ROUND

CHRISTIAN FAITH vs REMO

(8:09) Both guys spend the first five minutes or so shrugging off blows from each other, but eventually seem to be managing to get through to their opponents. Faith slams Remo down and hits him with an elbow drop, but Remo comes back into the match with a trio of Remo Busters. (Faith 57% vs Remo 72%)

(10:23) After Remo misses an elbow drop, Faith unloads with several Faith Hammers before displaying huge strength to put the big man down with an overhead fallaway slam. (50% vs 50%)

(12:22) Faith gets a one count with a backbreaker, but tries to go up top and Remo pulls him down, then opens him up with seated knuckle punches. He lifts the Iron Man up for a big press powerslam, but Faith shifts his weight and falls on top of him for two. (38% vs 43%)

(14:56) As Faith goes for a spear, Remo stops him in his tracks with a kick to the gut, which doesn't seem to hurt Faith much but does shift the advantage to the bigger man. Remo hurls Faith to the corner, smashes his head into the turnbuckle, then hits the Destroyer for a surprisingly early three count. (Note: Faith had FOUR Warrior Spirit points at this time; none of them succeeded!)

Remo beats Christian Faith via pinfall (The Destroyer) after 14:56.

*** Enjoyable enough, without too much drama.

JOHNNY BLOODSTONE vs JOEY MINNESOTA

(8:52) A cagey opening, with a fair amount of mat wrestling. (Bloodstone 80% vs Minnesota 81%)

(10:30) Bloodstone takes control, working over Minnesota's knee with several elbow drops and a rope assisted knee breaker. (79% vs 63%)

(13:27) Minnesota breaks a swinging neckbreaker attempt and throws Bloodstone to the corner, where he wails away with punches, forearms and knife edge chops, then stomping the submission specialist as he falls to the mat. (68% vs 41%)

(16:02) Minnesota continues to dominate, hitting a running senton and an enziguri kick amongst other moves, although Bloodstone manages a brief comeback including a huge brainbuster suplex. (55% vs 29%)

(18:03) Bloodstone manages a comeback after Minnesota misses a snap driving elbow, and gets a couple of two counts with a brainbuster and a lifting spinebuster. Minnesota slips out of a forward Russian legsweep attempt, though and gets a two of his own with a lifting spinebuster. (51% vs 13%)

(20:13) Minnesota presses home his advantage, landing elbow smashes and rear naked punches on Bloodstone, then hits a huge standing spinebuster. (26% vs 5%)

(22:02) Bloodstone blocks an Empire Spiral and locks on a straightjacket surfboard, then switches to a Bloodstone Mutilation which nearly gets a tap-out from the TCW star. (21% vs 0%)

(24:18) Minnesota pokes Bloodstone in the eye to regain the advantage but it doesn't last long, as he goes for an Empire Spiral which Bloodstone counters with a diving reverse DDT. Johnny locks on a heel hook leg grapevine, then a crossface chickenwing, which is enough to get the submission victory.

Johnny Bloodstone beats Joey Minnesota via submission (crossface chickenwing) after 24:18.

**** A very good back and forth bout.

DAN STONE JR vs CHAMPAGNE LOVER

(9:42) Stone tries to work over Lover's knee, but Lover gets some good shots of his own in to start the match off, shading the early parts of the contest. (Dan 78% vs Lover 83%)

(12:01) As Lover goes for a thrust kick, Dan Jr catches his leg and trips him, then works over it with knee bars and surfboards. (76% vs 75%)

(14:36) Dan misses a knee drop, allowing Lover to briefly recover, but then blocks a single arm DDT and goes to town on the Mexican's ankle with stomps and punches. (67% vs 64%)

(17:00) The action spills to the outside after Lover dropkicks Stone over the ropes, and CL hits a few knee drops and a couple of sentons before dragging Dan back into the ring. (46% vs 61%)

(18:50) Lover busts Stone open with a spinning DDT, but goes for a cangrejo which Dan rolls through. Dan goes back to working over his opponent's ankle and tries for a single leg Boston crab, but Marquez reaches the ropes. (36% vs 55%)

(20:06) Lover slips out of the back of a Hangman's Neckbreaker and hits a back suplex then a seated back dropkick, and now it's Stone who has to reach for the ropes as he's nearly caught in a single leg grapevine. (26% vs 50%)

(22:43) Lover gets a swinging neckbreaker but misses a running knee strike, and Dan Jr comes back with an explosion suplex, getting a two count. (21% vs 43%)

(23:30) Dan Jr gets a near fall with a Western brainbuster suplex, but then tries to bounce off the ropes where Jennifer Heat trips him, allowing Lover to grab a two of his own. (21% vs 28%)

(24:29) Lover locks on a Champagne Breakfast which looks like it might have this one won, but Stone somehow fights out of it. (17% vs 23%)

(25:56) Lover hits a running seated dropkick which opens up the cut on Dan's forehead, then climbs the ropes for a Champagne Sunrise, but Dan is up and shaking the ropes to stop that. Instead, CL climbs down and hits a dropkick to his opponent's knee. (0% vs 18%)

(27:41) Stone breaks a Lover Stunner attempt, and twice gets a nearfall with a Western Brainbuster. (0% vs 0%)

(30:05) Lover grabs the ropes to fight his way out of an STF attempt, then gets opened up by a running knee strike. Dan can't pick him up though, as Marquez fights back, and he hits a Lover Stunner for two and seven eighths.

(31:20) Lover goes for a swinging neckbreaker but Dan breaks his attempt, hits the Stone backbreaker, and then forces a submission with the Stone Ankle Stretch!

Dan Stone Jr beats Champagne Lover via submission (Stone Ankle Stretch) in 31:20.

***** A fantastic, back and forth, top quality battle.

STEVE DECOLT vs WOLF HAWKINS

(9:52) DeColt won last time out despite a slow start against Tommy Cornell; he's clearly aiming for a more convincing victory over Cornell's protege here and explodes out of the blocks, beating down Wolf and hitting several suplexes and slams, getting a two count after just six and a half minutes with a lifting spinebuster. (Steve 88% vs Wolf 50%)

(12:03) The Canadian hits a swinging neckbreaker then a running forearm smash and a grounded knee strike, but as DeColt goes for a Boston Crab, Hawkins rolls through. (84% vs 38%)

(14:35) Wolf just can't seem to get anything going - he dodges a flying lariat to take Steve to the ground, but misses a knee drop to lose the advantage, and then thrust kicks DeColt to the corner only for Steve to slide out of the way as Wolf charges in. (67% vs 23%)

(16:39) As Steve goes for a suplex powerslam, Wolf eye pokes him, but then DeColt breaks a knee plant and drives Hawkins into the ground with a vicious DDT. (52% vs 5%)

(17:44) Hawkins gets cut open by a stump piledriver;DeColt then hits a suplex powerslam to get a three count.

Steve DeColt beats Wolf Hawkins via pinfall (suplex powerslam) in 17:44.

Next round in about 48 hours, I think.

JACK BRUCE vs ROGUE

(9:54) Bruce is here to brawl, Rogue is here to stall. Whenever Jack seems to be building up momentum, the heel hits eye pokes or face rakes to slow him down. (Bruce 80% vs Rogue 64%)

(12:06) Bruce is able to get some momentum going, hitting a bodyslam and then coming off the top rope with a flying forearm strike. A Boston crab gets Rogue thinking about submitting, but he fights his way out. (74% vs 46%)

(15:00) Rogue gets a brief respite as Bruce is tripped by Emma Chase, but Bruce comes back to cut him open with a running knee strike after dropping him with Welcome to NYC. (65% vs 26%)

(17:12) After Bruce lands another knee strike, Rogue is bleeding very heavily, but he avoids a New York Minute and gets a standing spinebuster and a running knee drop with what's surely his last reserve of energy. (47% vs 8%)

(19:07) Rogue hits a mafia kick and a flying lariat, as Emma Chase gets more and more excited on the outside. (34% vs 0%)

(21:00) Bruce misses another New York Minute attempt, and Rogue draws the wrath of the referee by stomping on his opponent's groin then choking him with the ropes, after putting him down with a standing spinebuster. (21% vs 0%)

(23:23) Bruce slips out of a diving reverse DDT attempt, and gets two from a roll-up. (14% vs 0%)

(25:46) Bruce gets two from a pump splash, but then is tripped by Emma Chase once more, allowing Rogue to take control with a swinging neckbreaker. (9% vs 0%)

(27:53) Rogue tries for a mafia kick, but Bruce ducks it and hits a running clothesline, following up with a top rope flying forearm and a grounded knee strike. He returns to the turnbuckles, but takes too long to get up - mainly because he's trying to see where Emma Chase is - and Rogue meets a cross body attempt in mid air by shoulder blocking him to the mat. (5% vs 0%)

(30:04) Rogue drops two knees and an elbow, then wears down Bruce with a pair of rear chinlocks and a rope assisted choke hold. As Bruce staggers to his feet, he's met with an axe kick for two and three quarters. (0% vs 0%)

(31:35) Rogue hits a low blow for two, then nails the Crashing On for the victory!

Rogue beats Jack Bruce via pinfall (Crashing On) in 31:35.

***** A phenomenal bout featuring exciting, dramatic action and a highly competitive struggle for supremacy. Match of the Year candidate!

RICKY DALE JOHNSON vs MARAT KHOKLOV

(9:45) Marat dominates the first ten minutes or so; the pair are brawling for most of it and he just has too much power for RDJ. (RDJ 63% vs Marat 88%)

(12:39) Khoklov chokes out Johnson, hurls him to the corner, and hits a couple of huge headbutts. (50% vs 84%)

(15:29) Johnson lands several shots on Marat, after ducking a big boot and hitting a running body smash, but barely any of them faze the bigger man. (38% vs 73%)

(17:26) Johnson blocks a savage headbutt and hits a discus clothesline then a posing elbow drop, but Marat fights back and lifts him off the ground with a choke hold. He tries to hurl Johnson to the corner, but Johnson reverses, and the Russian collides with the referee, leaving the official out cold! (35% vs 67%)

(19:47) Johnson charges in and hits Khoklov with a pair of huge clotheslines, but misses an elbow drop. (32% vs 56%)

(21:56) Marat throws RDJ to the corner and follows up by blasting him with shots to keep him there. The ref, somewhat groggily, gets to his feet. (25% vs 46%)

(23:45) With the huge man losing things a bit as he tires, Johnson starts to come into his own, dropping Marat with a big running clothesline and following up with several knee drops and elbow drops, then a huge leaping lariat. (16% vs 29%)

(27:53) Marat chokes RDJ a few more times, before unleashing his huge Moscow Lariat, but he's not able to cover for a few seconds - which turn out to be vital, as RDJ kicks out at the last second. (0% vs 14%)

(29:08) Khoklov goes for a powerbomb but can't lift Johnson, who falls on him for two. Feeding off the crowd's cheers, Johnson hits a leaping lariat, a flurry of axe handles, an elbow drop and a DDT which cuts Marat open.

Marat Khoklov beats Ricky Dale Johnson via pinfall (Russian Legend Powerbomb) in 33:29.

*** A good, solid, competitive match.

ROCKY GOLDEN vs RK HAYES

(9:48) After the pair exchange punches and forearms early in the match, Golden completely dominates the next five minutes, whipping Hayes to the corner and ramming his shoulder into his opponent's midsection several times before following up with elbow drops. (Golden 82% vs Hayes 48%)

(12:22) Hayes slams down Golden after the TCW star misses a high knee, but Rocky quickly regains control by overpowering Hayes as he tries a flurry of forearms. Golden hits a huge press slam, then an over shoulder backbreaker rush, before taunting the heel, much to the fans' delight. (76% vs 31%)

(14:48) At the second attempt, Golden gets Hayes up for the Rack, but Hayes manages to break out. (74% vs 24%)

(15:45) Hayes is lifted up in the Rack again, and this time has to submit.

Rocky Golden beats RK Hayes via submission (The Rack) in 15:45.

** A decent, watchable bout which could perhaps have been a bit more competitive.

ERIC EISEN vs STEVE FREHLEY

(9:18) Frehley starts well with several clotheslines and running shoulder blocks, but Eisen rolls out of the way of an attempted stomp to drop to the ringside area and runs around the ring - with surprising speed for someone with a bad knee - managing to come in behind Frehley and blast him with several punches to take control. (Eric 66% vs Steve 75%)

(11:57) After Eric misses a running knee drop, Steve picks him up and hurls him to the corner, where he pounds away at him. (50% vs 72%)

(13:13) Frehley hits a pair of his patented suplex throws, but Eric slips out of a backbreaker attempt and locks on a side headlock. (41% vs 64%)

(15:45) After some back and forth, Frehley gets a two count by sitting down midway through a roll-up attempt by Eisen. (25% vs 61%)

(17:44) Frehley gets two with a huge spear, but Eric slips out of a choke slam attempt and gets his second wind, knocking his opponent to the outside with a knee from behind, then flying to join him with a double axhandle. (15% vs 47%)

(19:49) Eisen tries to legdrop his opponent, who rolls out of the way, meaning Eisen's leg hits the concrete hard. As he staggers to his feet, Frehley hits another huge spear, then simply climbs back into the ring. Eisen somehow manages to avoid being counted out, just staggering back in in time, but walks straight into a flying lariat for a two count and a Frehley's Comet which nearly finishes him off.

(23:07) We go into an incredible counter sequence as both men try to hit big moves but keep blocking and avoiding them, until Frehley lifts Eisen over his head for a gorilla press slam, only for Eric to scramble down behind his opponent and chop block him. As Frehley sinks to his knee, Eisen bounces off the ropes and unleashes the massive punt kick he calls the Supremacy. After that, the cover is academic.

Eric Eisen beats Steve Frehley via pinfall (The Supremacy) in 23:07.
