"Two, thanks."

"My boyfriend is a huge fan - he'd be thrilled to know you were here!"

At least one of us would be. Aimee (I read her nametag) seemed nice, but I had EPW business to attend to. Unfortunately, Alanis had decided that I should have to look after Marcus and her sister's kid Joseph. Joe, as he was known to...well, just me, was a nightmare. I was hoping soft play would distract him while Marcus slept/played and I attended to some business.

"Erm, thanks Aimee-"

"He works across the street...would you might if he came and said hi?"

"No, be a pleasure." It wouldn't really, I'm with my son, Damien from The Omen and I'm a heel...it would ruin my carefully crafted image as a bastard.

"Ok thanks, Mr Devine...His name's Phil, I'll send him over."

"Sure...no problems"

"Uncle Darryl, I have to take a leak!!!"

"Toilets are over there Joe."

"My given name is Joseph." Given by the devil? Maybe I should get Marcus adopted out now? Nah, he's asleep and cute. I enjoyed that moment as Joseph/Joe ran to the toilet.

I took a seat, in the corner, pulled my baseball cap over my face. Pushed Marcus' pram into the corner - I would play with him when he woke up. My father sense reckoned I had ten minutes. Time to-

"Uncle Darryl, Auntie Alanis said you would push me on the swing."

"I have an important phone call to make, maybe in ten minutes champ?" Why am I calling him champ? My dad did that to me to hide bad news...with him as a father, it was every other sentence.

"It is about wrestling? Billy at school said wrestling is fake? Is it fake?"

I put on my best heel face "No. If Billy says that again, tell him I'll come to his school and kick his ass." Alanis had warned me about threatening Joe's school friends...actually she might have a point, don't want a gang of angry school kids growing up wanting to beat the s**t out of me. Probably down to nine minutes now...

Luckily, my heel mannerisms had worked - Joe had rang off. I grabbed my phone and made a call

"Hello, is Sarah there?"

"Speaking."

"It's Darryl Devine, Sarah, how are you?"

"I'm good, you?"

"Tired, EPW and a kid...look, you still in the wrestling business?"

Sarah sighed as I estimated how long I had left before Marcus woke up "No, after Travis fired me, my mom got sick and-"

"-I want you to join us, join EPW."

"Why? All I did was write articles for LOSER."

"People really enjoyed them. We're trying to expand out side the North West and I think you could really help."

"I live in Dallas, Darryl and my mom-"

"-work at home. We'll pay you what you were on at LOSER."

"Sure? You mean it? I'm looking forward to it? What articles do you need, hard hitting insight?"

"No...what you did before...well, a little more serious."

"Wow! Well, I'm up for it. Can I go my full name-"

"No...To me, you're Kay."

"Do I have to be Kay, Darryl?"

"Yes, I'll take a forfeit on that part of the deal."

"Ok...can I speak to Bart Biggins again?"

"After last time? I'm lucky Bart still speaks to me!" I saw Marcus stiring. "Anyway, you in?"

"Yes! Thanks Darryl, I won't let you down!"

"I know. E-mail you later."

I ended the call and picked up a waking, upset Marcus. Whispering in his ear usually soothed him-

"Erm...Hello, Darryl...Darryl Devine?"

It was Phil...older and fatter than Aimee, so he was doing ok for himself

"Can you sign this...sorry, I'm a huge fan, used to watch you when you wrestled as Sensational Steve Simmons in Seattle Championship Grappling!"

I cringed...I got a hair metal gimmick off a indy promoter and got stuck with it for six months...in 2003. Alanis still plays Warrant's 'Cherry Pie' at me if we have an argument."

As I uncringed and signed his piece of paper (a receipt?) Joe decided to come back

"Hi Mr Stevenson...Hey, Uncle Darryl, it's Billy's dad!!! You told me you were gonna kick Billy's ass!!!"

Phil looked shocked...I smiled; thank God I'm a heel

"If he tells the other kids that what I do is fake, I'll be looking for you Phil. You got me?" I was half playing...Phil looked kinda scared.

"Sure Darryl, I'll-"

I pulled him in close "That was for Joe's benefit. Seriously though, if you tell anyone about Sensational Steve Simmons-"

Phil suddenly grew some balls "You'll kick my ass, Devine? I know wrestling is fake-"

"Does your wife know about Aimee?" Phil froze "Don't give me a reason to tell her Phil."

"Ok, Devine it's cool, it's cool, I'll talk to Billy...thanks for the autograph...big fan, big fan."

I love being a heel...meant I could tell Alanis and let her do the damage. My dad got one thing right - Never meet anyone you look up to, it'll end in tears...

Hello Emerald City wrestling fans, I'm Kay Fabe, wrestling journalist extrodan...extrodenaire...look, I'm a wrestling journalist. As my ex boyfriend use to say, lets keep the introductions for the important people (wait, was he saying that I'm not important? My sister can have him!), let's discuss Seattle Showdown.

Seattle Showdown is a big night in EPW - it's when the winner of the Jet City Rumble (the March Battle Royale) gets their chance to face the EPW Intercontinenal Champion. Without further ado...

This is the big one - the biggest, spicest meatball of them all! Darryl won the title at Jet City Rumble 4 in March, edging out Kirk Jameson...a man who is now allied with Darryl. People have questioned this alliance - is Devine passing on his experience or is Kirk simply an 'insurance policy' for the champion?

Meanwhile, 'young veteran' Dazzling Dave Diamond won the Jet City Rumble and gets the shot at Devine. Some say he hasn't the knowledge or the ability, beneath his heart and guts. It's the biggest test of his career to try and dethrone 'Mighty Fine'. My opinion? I need this job, so I'm not going to upset Darryl (again)...but every dog has his day. Never underestimate anyone...

Kirk Jameson vs Rhino Umaga

This match concerns Darryl Devine's new attitude since returning from....er...the place we don't mention. Kirk seems to have been convinced by Devine that no one but Darryl is worthy of the Intercontinental Title. While he's allied himself with Devine, you have to wonder what's inspiring him - everyone wants to be champion, where do you go if you can't be champion?

Rhino Umaga, on the other hand, opposes this cronyism. After the 'Modern Day Savage' kicked Carl Batch to the kerb, he's been a defender of fairness and earning opportunities. This might be his best chance to earn himself another title shot. It's a match that, in my opinion, should be a no.1 contender's match...but it seems Jameson doesn't want the prize.

EPW US Tag Team Titles American Cobras © vs Dynamite Express

The tag titles are on the line here as two time and current champions The American Cobras take on upstarts The Dynamite Express. The Express have never beaten the Cobras, but have been gradually wearing away at them. Syd Collier (unfairly) beat Storm Spiilane at April's Revolt and with the help of Thomas Morgan the Express overcame the Cobras in 3 vs 3 action.

Can The Dynamite Express go all the way and take the titles, or do the Cobras still have plenty of fight left in them?

Matt Hocking vs Julius Moor

A battle of two opposing forces - the arrogant Hocking vs the down to earth Moor. The speedy, cowardly Hocking vs the powerful, but raw Moor. Hocking may be on my mother's 'no' list (bad boys are second only to tattoos) but he's got a lot of upside. Moor has the power and the athletic ability to break out, but he's got a lot to learn....ultimately, it's gonna come down to who has the know how to pick up the win.

Panda Mask II vs Thomas Morgan

Insanity is a crazy thing (thank you, I'm here all week) and this contest might be a test of who is the most insane.

For example, Panda Mask II thinks he is a panda. He's a all round great wrestler (can fly, wrestle, brawl) but, you know, he...thinks he is a panda. That crazy thought has distracted opponents to defeat...how do you face a panda? How do you stop him?

Meanwhile, Morgan, well...after KC Glenn walked out on him in September 2015, after everything Morgan went through to save him from the Church of Anarchy (I wasn't here then, but...creepy) Morgan became possesive...he wanted to own everythiing...he wanted, no needed, to trademark everything. A very talented mat wrestler, this new need gave Morgan a fearsome drive...a drive that has people worried about facing him.

Can Morgan's drive overcome his strange, unusual opponent is the question here...a question that will be answered at Seattle Showdown.

So my idea for a new prediction contest...

I really enjoy getting predictions on this dynasty, but I admit that I don't live up to my end of the deal; my booking is a bit predictable and sometimes, I can be a bit slow to update.

So my solution is to try a 'fantasy football' style contest where you can make your picks then not worry about missing my infrequent updates.

This is how it works; Every one picks two wrestlers, one from Pool A (Main eventers/Upper Midcarders) and one from Pool B (Midcarders/Lower Midcarders). This is your tag team (silly names are mandatory!) and you score points for how they perform over the season (Jul 2016 to Dec 2016 ingame).

My scoring list at present is like this;

So, for example, let's say Hugh de Aske wins the Intercontinental Title, beating Devine in a D+ match. Hugh would score 3pts for the win, 5pts for winning the title and 2pts for his performance, giving him a total of 10pts for that month....I'm sure you guys all understand this, sorry if it sounds patronising <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

You can change your team after every show, providing you post the change in here/pm me. Each wrestler can only be on one team (so two people can't have Panda Mask II etc).

The big prize at the end of the season will be a major booking decision for the 2017 anniversary show in January. The monthly winner will get something too - you can either nominate a wrestler for a Kay Fabe interview or pick where Darryl will head to in a backstage segment. Want to see him confront Travis Slicke or go drinking with THE ARCHITECT? This is your chance to decide....

EPW Ignition sees the beginning of the IWA Cup, a wrestling tournament designed to highlight the great young talent that falls under the IWA umbrella. Not a literal umbrella, but a metaphorical umbrella covering an array of talented wrestlers, all contracted to various IWA promotions.

Now that that confusion has been dealt with, let's meet the participants

Ash Campbell

One of PSW's representatives in the tournament, Ash Campbell is an arrogant, arrogant man...sure his dad is Nemesis, but that doesn't mean that Ash will be as good, right?

Arrogance rating - 8/10. Cocky, but isn't refering to himself in the third person yet.

Doctor Michael O'Haire

'The Doctor of Destruction and Cheap Prescriptions' is one of EPW's four entrants into the tournament.

Is he a real doctor? - He has a medical license...it's on A4 and written in red biro, but it's a license!

Fro Sure

The other PSW representative in this tournament...Fro Sure is the opposite of Ash Campbell...chilled, humble and respectful of the fan's wishes.

Hair envy - a bit...I mean, I couldn't pull off a 'fro, but I'll like to try for one night.

Island Boy Apollo

The face painted Puerto Rico hero takes a break from tag team action to represent EPW in the IWA Cup.

Strange fact - has a medical condition named after him, 'Island Boy Apollo Syndrome'. It's a fatigue condition, where you become over tired while typing and begin posting images of Island Boy Apollo repeatedly...

Julius Moor

The former football player gets the chance to win another trophy...but this time in pro wrestling.

Stats - No...I don't understand football. I've been told I can't just copy from Wikipedia (Damn you Devine!!!!)

Leper Messiah

The fiend of FCW comes to win the IWA Cup and inflict pain on all comers

How scary? - Too scary. Seriously, no quips from me on this.

Shady K

Straight outta RIPW...Shady K has threatened to melt the trophy down into a 'pimp-ass chain' should he win...

Original G - once pulled a gun on a gun...he claims it 'dissed him, playa.' That means he felt slighted, yo.

Storm Spillane

EPW's final entrant is the sensible member of The American Cobras, two time and current EPW US Tag Team champions.

How does he do it? - He's known Malloy for twenty years...that's two decades of Nintendo and Puro...two decades. Storm, we salute you.

The tournament will be decided at EPW Fell on Black Days in September, with the winner receiving a EPW Intercontinental Title shot at EPW Devil's Night in October.

Who do you think will win? I was going to have a poll but...I'm not very good with computers. So just say it aloud and remember your pick for when the tournament starts!
