Mod advice

Recommended Posts

I've never created a mod, before but have been toying with idea of creating a 1980 or late 70's real world, that is easy to play, without huge data loads, that in turn will not take me months to create. I most likely would keep it simple to the American wrestling scene.

Any Advice where to start, what to include or not include. How to share, or if there would be any interest would greatly be appreciated

Getting a picture pack together is one thing. But choosing which pictures will show up when you click on a worker, event, etc., is another. It takes me out of the time period if I download a mod based in 1986 and the default picture for Hulk Hogan is one from when he was in WCW, when a pic like that should be one of the Ager pics. Or if I'm booking the WWF in the late 80s and the New Generation logo is the default logo for the WWF. I'm not saying take those pictures out of the pack. Leave them in for people who want to use them. I'm saying that if you're wanting people to feel immersed in the game world you're building, make sure the default pictures will match that of the game world. Hope that all made sense. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Now on the flip side, all the different match types that would come about in later years, I would go ahead and put them in the mod. When you read the results of an AI-run card, it won't say if the match was a steel cage match or an Elimination Chamber Match, etc. The match types are there for the user when you're playing the game. For example, I have Hell in a Cell in my Main Event mod, but I most likely won't use it until I get into the late 1990s in my current game save.</p>

I'd like to chime in and say that if you import workers from another mod, go in and doublecheck their physical condition.

I've had a few otherwise stellar mods I've tried playing but have discovered someone just flat imported people from a date further in time, so you wind up with dumb stuff like having a 21 year old rookie at 75% capacity and demanding to not work house shows due to their body being worn down.

<p>Also go to wrestling data, cagematch, and other sites to help with the roster. Plus you might want to have a cutoff year for new workers so the game is not so bloated with workers. Like say 1998 or 2000 . Because going back to 1980 or even 1970's your going to have add some workers that has never been in TEW game or promotions.</p><p>

Off the top of my head theirs several promotions that were around in 1980 that closed around that time frame.</p>
