EVOLVE: Welcome To The Evolution [ThunderVerse]

Thanks for all the predictions everyone! Given how quick the replies have been coming in, I may end up moving the show forward slightly as it is written up already.

In terms of style, the shows will be a mix of the condensed TCW shows, but fleshed out slightly in a similar fashion to the later shows in Under Pressure (which I recently re-read). It's definitely the product of my experiences writing the past, so hopefully it'll be enjoyable to read too!

Family, I guess. That's always been the most important thing to me. We moved to Florida after I left PWI, mainly because my wife's family were already out there. It made sense to work Tennessee once I'd decided to get back into the ring, but unfortunately after the first couple of months it wasn't just Tennessee we were running. We wanted guys that could tell a story in the ring, and tell a story on the mic. My focus was to combine the familiar faces of Carmine, Hancock, Chaperone and Riley that were going to draw in the fans initially, and then work in the fresh talent that weren't getting the opportunities in the other big companies. In fact, I'd already had big money offers from Boston and LA, even Japan were offering me a decent wage to leave DRAGON. EVOLVE offered something new, something fresh and I wanted to be on board. Sad news that Sean Riley didn't get the pinfall, I thought that someone was gonna make a run-in and attack Roscoe leading to Riley to pick the win, but well, it went something like that at the end. Are you gonna do a segment of the rankings on every episode or in the preview of every show?</p>

Certainly for the first show, Roscoe Carmine is probably the face of the company so him getting the victory made sense really. That doesn't mean it will always be the case, even though he does have quite a lot more popularity than his nearest "rivals". I felt you definitely got across the competitive/more legitimate vibe of EVOLVE (the Kinsella profile was a nice touch) and it'll be interesting going forward to see how you work around booking being potentially restricted by such a wide-reaching ranking structure - although I noted in the write-up you gave yourself some wriggle room with tag matches, etc as not to leave it too rigid.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, props on getting Lyndon Worth into a relevent on-screen role - I thought he was probably the most limited character I slapped together in the last Thunderverse update.</p>

Also, props on getting Lyndon Worth into a relevent on-screen role - I thought he was probably the most limited character I slapped together in the last Thunderverse update.

The Regulator is another one of those must hires for me. I actually think his character can go a lot of ways. In The Club game we talked about, he was going to be a member of a pressure group acting as a "fan" in the audience where he'd interrupt the show. Here he's obviously a completely different character, but he fits the role perfectly (particularly with Chaperone in the Director role as they are so very different). I'd probably struggle to give him a major in-ring role, but as an occasionally-wrestling-personality he's definitely someone I can find lots of ideas for.

The rankings system is important, but as this is still a sports entertainment promotion the rankings shouldn't get in the way of storytelling...I hope! I have booked the first month and there haven't been any problems so far. I do tend to think ahead for my major shows, so if anything this rankings system makes that slightly easier as I can tell where someone's like to be at any given point and make any necessary booking changes to move them up (or down) the rankings as needs be.

The plan is definitely for the rankings (and to some extent the teams/camps) to begin to work their way into the promotion more and more as time goes on - obviously given that this is a brand new promotion a lot of the earlier shows will be setting the groundwork for the company going forward and to some extent introducing characters that (at least from an in-game perspective) will be unfamiliar to the fans. For that reason, the rankings get mentioned a lot, but won't necessarily be a sole driving force for anyone outside of the two title matches. That will change once things have settled into place, and there will probably be a lot more squabbling over positions etc.

I'm really liking where this diary could go based off that first show!

Cheers Deamon. With only an hour TV it's going to be tough to give many of the midcarders and down some TV time, but I'm trying my best to give everyone a bit of a chance. Having such defined (and fun) characters, Nacho Inferno and Schism will definitely be seen more often than not.

I'm not a big fan of heel commentators constantly diminishing the babyfaces as I think it hurts more than it entertains. So while he's definitely heel, I have tried to have him say good things about the wrestlers he doesn't like too

The cameras track backstage where Shannon Sorensen, Nacho Inferno and El Estandar are congratulating each other on their win, the first win in EVOLVE history. A voice could be heard asking the trio for their thoughts on their historical moment. Both Nacho Inferno and El Estandar looked confused, gesturing that they couldn’t speak English. Shaking the hands of both Nacho Inferno and El Estandar before seeing them walk off, Sorensen begins to speak.

Sorensen trails off and the camera pans round to see Fergus Storm standing, staring a hole through the man who pinned him earlier on.

Fergus Storm: “Don’t give us this rubbish Shannon. All you were was lucky earlier on. I had to carry a broken down old banger and a man who couldn’t hack it in the greatest country in the world. You see Shannon, over in Japan your little act wouldn't be tolerated by PROFESSIONAL wrestling companies. I am a WRESTLER and it’s a disgrace that I got beaten by someone like you. “

Shannon looks amused by Fergus’ little rant and goes to walk past him only for Fergus to block his exit.

Fergus: “What is it Shannon, you scared? You scared of what you know I could do to you inside the ring?”

Shannon tries to walk past again, only for Fergus to block his path again. This time, Shannon goes to swing a punch at Fergus, Fergus moving at the last second and walking away with a smirk leaving Shannon to nurse his hand in pain with a foul look on his face.

Thanks Michigan!

Anyone who can remember Under Pressure will be familiar with Aftermath, which is a sort of post-show segment that isn't booked in the game, and is written by another writer, in this case MichiganHero. The plan is for Aftermath to follow every episode of High Impact and will hopefully develop some characters outside of the main show. The Under Pressure version of Aftermath even introduced a new character in Atlas, so that isn't out of the question either!

That was the one surprise segment I wanted to have posted before the next card preview, so expect that sometime today.

Really like the Aftermath format and how started the Sorensen/Storm argument that leads to the match at High Impact.
