One of the most innovative music auditoriums in America, it has almost perfect acoustics but it makes for an odd wrestling venue. But also an amazing one, as the fans are right up over the ring, and they sound extremely loud. The stage set up is behind the ring, on the actual stage of the auditorium. With the big stage that the AWF uses, it actually works quite effectively for the Awesome Nation. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

</div></div><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Casey Skym</strong></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Director of Amazing Announcement</strong></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>In a developing pattern that some AWF fans will love and others will hate, the episode of Shockwave again starts with Casey Skym. He begins by apologizing for another announcement, but this one is regarding the so-called invaders. He calls out Cross by naming, stating that his actions at the end of last week were very, very ill-advised. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

“The Zombie” explains that AWF management has not been ignoring the situation these invaders, but gathering information to make informed decisions. And Skym himself has been able to confirm a report first made several weeks ago on the AWF website about how the group have been gaining access to AWF shows. Skym slowly points at the fans the fill acoustic wonderland that is the Symphony Palace. Those fans boo, but Skym quiets them. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

He explains that the AWF has a fan club program, wherein the promotion sponsors local fan groups. Its a popular part of the AWF homepage and there are over one hundred active fan clubs from around the world. A benefit that these clubs get from registering and being active is discounted, and sometimes even free, tickets to AWF live events. There are other benefits, including discounted merchandise, chances to meet Awesome stars, backstage passes, and more. The crowd is relatively silent at this point, as this part of Skym's announcement sounds more like a commercial for the promotions fan club scheme. Business picks up a little as he announces that these fan clubs are responsible for the invasion.</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

After allowing this damning statement to hang for a moment, the Director of Amazing explains. He says that this group of wrestlers from another promotion apparently has contacts in many of these local AWF fan clubs, and these contacts consistently get them prime tickets to every show. As the AWF has a corporate-based policy of never denying entrance to a fan with a valid ticket, they have continued to be let into shows. That will no longer happen. So beginning tonight, they will not be getting into shows anymore. Not that way. Not at all.</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

This stern, definitive announcement draws the crowd. And a few boos, presumably from the fans who have been enjoying talent from another promotion wreck havoc in the AWF. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

Skym then addresses the number one contender for the AWF World Heavyweight championship. Or rather, the next one. Drake Richards will face Silva Dolla on Sunday at New Year, No Limits. The same night, a Threeway Dance will determine the next contender for the title. Jean-Claude Giroux, who battled Drake Richards to start the month of January, will be one contender. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

This draws a sold reaction for the fans. The man known as “Zombie” basks in it, then says he has one more thing. The Tag Team Trauma Grand Prix has the AWF World Tag Team titles on the line, and an enormous one million dollar purse as well... yet something feels missing. If this is going to be an annual event, it needs something more. Another prize for the winning team. And with that...</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

With a flourish from the Director of Amazing, a grand visual introduction kicks off. Lights flash, lasers sweep, pyrotechnics explode. All accompanying the rise of a pedestal on the stage just to the left of the ramp-way. A black sheet covers whatever sits atop the pedestal. The sheet is whisked away as if by magic, revealing...</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Casey Skym, Revolver Binx & Omri Stone</strong></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Backstage Promo...?</strong></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A backstage promo fades in, showing a typical arena men's room. Two of the stalls are closed. Off-screen voices chatter, proclaiming that they are now live and another stating they have to be in here. Finally, they call out for Binx and Stone. There is response from the closed bathroom stalls, telling the camera crew to get the hell out. There is more off screen muttering, with the name of Skym being audible. The camera pans and the Director of Amazing is standing in the bathroom doorway. He calls out to the tag team, saying that they need to cut their scheduled promo and then get to the ring for their match. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

From the second stall, Stone says that they will be there for the ring but they are gonna have to skip the promo. They have other concerns. There are some wet farting noises, making it clear what those “other concerns” are. Binx then pipes in, explaining they had some bad Mexican. Not impressed, Skym tells them to cut the damn promo. After a moment, Stone says that cutting a promo from a bathroom stall while “having a movement' is pretty fitting. Because that's what the Enemies of the State think about the rest of the AWF... a bunch of crap. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The pair then launch a trademark rant, saying they are going to be the figurative toilet paper to the crap that is the AWF. They are going to show the world they are the greatest tag team in the world by winning that atrocious Zombie Cup and they are going to help the SUX Army establish dominance. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

They finish up, and a hanging silence is finally broken by another fart noise. The camera pans from the bathroom stall doors to Skym, standing in the doorway. He looks equally disgusted and horrified. He says they need to be in the ring in four minutes and walks out. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The opening match of the Grand Prix pits two regular team against each other. All four men have held the AWF World Tag Team titles, but Binx and Stone have held them together, while both Candell and Christiansen have both held them with other partners. The Enemies of the State have a significant advantage in experience and they make it work to their advantage, cheating liberally. It gives them an advantage but only a small one, as the newer team battles hard. There is a desperation to their approach, and in the case of Candell, almost an outright hunger. That proves to be insufficient, as Binx and Stone use some teamwork to waylay Christiansen at ringside, then take down Candell. Stone gets the pin. As soon as its over, both members of the Enemies rush away from ringside instead of celebrating. Nature calls. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Johnny Hollywood is on the expansive set of Johnny Hollywood Presents... The Hollywood Show by himself. He is not smiling and when he starts to talk, he is not cracking typical jokes. He says that as a popular talk show host on one of the most popular programs on television, he gets a great deal of freedom. But just like any other employee, he is sometimes told what to do. Today is one those days he is doing what he's told, not what he wants. With that, two dozen AWF security officials in what looks like riot gear troop out of the stage entrance and take up positions around the set. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

Hollywood then explains that talent from the small independent promotion Pro Wrestling Superstars Uncensored and Xtreme have spent that past several months causing havoc in the AWF. They came first as fans, then were let in by the despicably tasteless Enemies of the State, and then by abusing the AWF fan clubs, as announced by Director of Amazing Skym earlier. These invaders have made no agenda clear, simply promoting their tiny home promotion. But they clearly have goals. Tonight they will get a chance to make those goals known to the world. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

The host stops, seemingly uncomfortable. Its notable that he has been very harsh in his condemnations of the SUX invaders previously, but his language is significantly less harsh on this occasion. </div></div><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>“War Pigs” by Black Sabbath plays but no one appears. After an awkward wait, Cross suddenly makes his way onto the far side of the stage. He is typically bedraggled, whearing a black SUX T-shirt and combat pants. He strides across the stage and stands beside Hollywood's desk. His face partially obscured by his straggly hair, he projects intensity very well. The host invites him to sit but he stays standing. Looking worried, Johnny reaches across the desk and hands him one of the small microphones. He welcomes Cross to the show as warmly as he can manage. The dynamic is awkward, with Cross stand and glaring, while the host sits behind his desk, looking uncomfortable.</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

The first question that Johnny Hollywood asks is what is the group's purpose in the Awesome Wrestling Federation? No answer. After letting the question hang for a moment, Hollywood asks if there will be more individuals coming? No answer. Is anyone in the AWF helping them? No answer. Are they being paid by the AWF? No answer. Are they here for anything other than creating anarchy? No answer. Does the group have an actual goal? Cross finally gives an answer, growling that they are an army. Hollywood keeps throwing questions at him. What is the purpose of this army? How big is it? Are they aligned with Silva Dolla? With Jean-Claude Giroux? The interview has basically become an interrogation, with question after question lobbed at Cross in rapid-fire fashion with no response. Hollywood seems to grow tired of it and finally asks if his guest has anything worth saying. The response is a fist smashed into the desk, a shocking response that has the host ready to bolt and the security officials tensed and ready to intervene. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

The six-woman Starlets tag match is typical Starlets fare – the entrances seem to matter more than the action, the wrestling is meh at best, and the Awesome Nation enjoys the suggestive moments more than the actual wrestling. Herculez is at ringside with the Starlets champion Jazz, despite not having a manager's license, and helps provide a distraction that allows the rule-breaking ladies to score the victory. Their third will be one of the most promising young talents in the AWF... Derrick Rollins. “Thunder” will only have this one opportunity. So he best make the most of it. English-born to one of the most famous wrestling families in the world (Hancock is careful not to mention that Hart family by name, as they star for the rival PWI), she has spent a decade becoming the greatest woman wrestler the world has ever seen. </div></div><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Jean-Claude Giroux, Mountain Albert & Derrick Rollins versus Timothy Hawk, Drake Richards & Core</strong></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The main event six-man tag match feels huge. Mainly because it is huge. It features five of the AWF's biggest stars, all of whom have been world champions. And it also also Derrick Rollins. Its clear that Rollins doesn't belong based on his accomplishments. But he is one of the most promising young stars in the company, and the match represents his “tryout” without the pair of aces in Giroux's stable. He comes out first and gets his own entrance. Five more entrances follow and it makes for a lengthy process, but adds to the “big match feel”. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Before the proceedings get underway, Silva Dolla makes his way out, getting a full introduction including his entrance theme of “Ain't No Sunshine” by DMX. Its all so he can simply walk to the announcer's booth at the front of the stage and take up guest commentary. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The action then commences. It starts out strong, with Jean-Claude Giroux and Drake Richards engaging in their trademark fast-paced and perfectly-executed back-and-forth. They have down it countless times before but given the four other men in the match, it doesn't last too long. Others soon tag in. Rollins doesn't look particularly out of place and he actually manages to look fairly strong against Hawk, though its partly due to help from his two partners. The big power of Core and Albert again forms a centerpiece to the match, as does the heel trio working over the knee of Hawk. This attack is directed by Giroux, who seems intent on incapacitating “The Prince” heading into the threeway match at the coming coming pay per view. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hawk finally makes the hot tag to Richards, but everything stops dead when Theo Barkley walks out onto the stage and stands there, watching. He is joined by Joe Havana. Then Ricky Fyre, Garrett South, Bryce Christiansen, Julian Bishop, and Mo Fury. Their reasoning for appearing isn't immediately clear. But it the commentary team speculates that they are the other hopefuls for invitation into the new stable run by Jean-Claude Giroux. Guest commentator Silva Dolla says he plain don't care. The action gets underway in the ring once again... and then stops. Cross has appeared on the stage as well. He stands on the side opposite the rest of the hopefuls. He makes no further move, but simply stands. He watches. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

From the ring apron, Giroux encourages the legal man Rollins to take advantage of the distraction. He attempts to do so, blindsiding Richards and then attempting to deliver his Rolling Thunder buzzsaw kick finisher. Richards blocks it and delivers a devastating spinning heel kick of his own. When Rollins regains his feet, “The Bad Boy” delivers a lifting spinebuster that is used by Giroux as his finisher, and then goes for the pin. Albert attempts to break up the pin but the big man is too slow. Giroux simply watches from the apron. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The victorious trio celebrate in the ring. Giroux makes a disgusted look that would strongly suggest that Derrick Rollins did not pass his test. On the stage, the group of hopefuls remain watching. All but Cross, who has already disappeared. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Since its inception, the Awesome Wrestling Federation has focused heavily on its connections to Hollywood, its home city. To some, the flashy “Bad Boy” Drake Richards exemplifies that Hollywood vibe perfectly. With his loud outfits, rock star looks, brash promos, and undeniable talent in the ring, it is understandable to see that connection. Especially as Richards is billed from Hollywood. Yet to others, it is Richard’s eternal rival Jean-Claude Giroux who embodies this Hollywood ethos more completely.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Giroux is not from Hollywood. He is not even American. He was born and raised in the most cosmopolitan of cities, Paris.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The “Parisian Playboy” fits in with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood only too well. While Richards exudes a rock star vibe, Giroux feels more like an international movie star of old. Or perhaps a hunky male model, equally adept at the catwalk or the red carpet. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Richards and Giroux have been massively important to the AWF. That is somewhat less obvious in the case of the Frenchman, who is sometimes overlooked by fans and yet is internally considered one of the backbones of Awesome. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Given his prodigious talent, it should perhaps not be a surprise that Giroux was a prodigy from the very beginning. He became a professional at just 18 years old and would be starring for Pan European Wrestling within a year. The youngster already boasted the character that has made him famous to fans in America, and he stood out enough in PEW to have WWWE scouts flying across the Atlantic. At just 20 years old, he signed with the WWWE and made his debut there. His arrogant ladies man character drew favorable comparisons to Jose Lothario and Giroux was a dynamo in the ring. He was one the few brights spots in the last few years of the WWWE, winning the Intercontinental championship twice. . It was here that his rivalry with Drake Richards began, though the American would find more success.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Giroux was actually the first signing by Zeke Trillion when he began forming the Awesome Wrestling Federation in late 2004. He was amongst the most recognizable and exciting names on the initial roster. Richards would join over a year later and they two created a rivalry for the ages. Many of the greatest matches in AWF history have between those two men. That rivalry has helped the company grow and helped legitimize it in the eyes of some early non-fans, who wrote the company off as a rich man’s vanity project and a rip off of the WWWE.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While Richards has remained at the apex of the AWF since he joined, the same cannot be said of Giroux. The Frenchman has only four AWF world title reigns to Richard’s six. All four together total just 13 months with the top belt in the company. But its more than that. Giroux has done everything that the company needed. He has moved into the midcard at times, worked tag teams, been used in a variety of different roles. And he has excelled at every one of them. Few wrestlers can so effectively move from a midcard feud and step up to the top of the card without it seeming unwarranted.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

An interesting dynamic to the Parisian Playboy is that his character has changed very little in his tenure in the AWF. The same key character elements that he had even back in the WWWE are still there – he is arrogant, snobby, haughty, well-spoken, charming, full of braggadocio but incredibly capable of delivering on it. The ladies still love him and he always loves them. In a manner ironically similar to what has been done with Drake Richard’s character through his AWF tenure, the booking has managed to keep Giroux fresh by simply adjusting the focus on particular aspects of his character in different feuds. The exception to this is the Red Carpet Warrior story arc. Beyond that, neither Giroux nor Richards have seen their on-screen characters evolve significantly but that has been at least partly as neither has truly grown stale with the fans.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Given their long rivalry, its difficult to assess the in-ring style of Giroux without making comparisons to Richards. Giroux is significantly thicker and unsurprisingly more powerful, but he is extremely athletic. He has a dynamic approach that is not quite as quick and flashy as Richards’ in his prime, but adds the 35-year old Frenchman adds a rather unique twist with a dash of traditional European-style grappling. He also cheats with arrogant aplomb, breaking the rules as effective and efficiently as anyone else in wrestling. The package adds up to a truly a spectacular wrestler who delivers in the ring every single match. And at 35 years old, he is showing no signs yet of slowing down.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With his looks, charisma, and charming overall demeanour, Giroux has often been noted as a wrestling star who could step across into Hollywood proper. In truth, he might be the AWF’s most successful crossover star to this point. That is thanks mostly to the “Red Carpet Warrior” storyline slash gimmick that Giroux ran with through much of 2011 and 2012. Derided by some purists as too “soap opera” and merely a mechanism to keep Giroux out of the world title picture for a time. Yet it proved very popular and gained Giroux attention outside of the wrestling world. The story arc begun under the booking reign of Jerry King, but new booker Casey Skym saw it to a conclusion. For the latter half of 2011 and first bit of 2012, Giroux escorted a series of B and C level actresses to Hollywood events, and they appeared in a series of vignettes in exchange. The charming Frenchman got attention from mainstream celebrity tabloids. This lead to him having a “relationship” with actress Gwen Dalton, who is still well known and revered for her role on the mega-popular 90s sitcom Pals. The two had a whirlwind romance (mostly on AWF ShockWave) leading to a grand Hollywood wedding. The fairy tale had no happy ending, as it ended after just a few months as Giroux conspired to put his new bride in a compromising position, leading to him being granted a divorce and half her significant assets. Giroux thus went from being a somewhat wealthy international playboy to a massively rich one. The storyline was conceived and started during the booking reign of Jerry King, but was played out to a fun conclusion by Casey Skym. The length arc has given Giroux a new degree of arrogance, making for at least a bit of character evolution.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Now 35 years old, “The Parisian Playboy” has accomplished a great deal in the AWF. The rise of Timothy Hawk and Silva Dolla is seen as the “AWF Generation” taking over the top of the company. It’s a positive development but could leave a veteran star like Giroux in limbo. Don’t expect him to ride into the sunset, fade away gracefully, disappear into the night, or any other euphemism you may choose to apply. While the combination of Silva Dolla becoming World Heavyweight champion and the invasion by wrestlers from another promotion might seemingly leave little room for focus on a vet like Jean-Claude, his formation of the AWF’s first true power stable looks to ensure he will stay relevant. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

More-so than most professional wrestlers, Giroux has options outside of the business. Hollywood seems to be a legit option, with strong rumors suggesting that he has already turned down minor TV roles and reality TV options. He has been linked to an eventual return to Europe to be the figurehead of a new long-rumored wrestling promotion there. He has suggested in media interviews that he is interested in training a new generation of wrestling talent. Wherever his path after his in-ring career may lay, Giroux is likely to find success. But in the meantime, the Awesome Nation and wrestling fans in general should ensure to enjoy the greatness that Giroux brings. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

AWF New Year, No Limit

Saturday Week 4 January, 2014

The Awesome Wrestling Federation looks to kick 2014 off in style with New Year, No Limits. Its going to be a show that no one in the Awesome Nation can afford to miss.

Casey Skym has promised on ShoutBox that the night will be one of surprises. There are Tag Team Trauma Grand Prix matches on the slate. The first is a preliminary round match that will see tag team legends Hammer of Mercy face a mystery team. The second is already a second round encounter between "Bang Mode" and former champions Enemies of the State. Jean-Claude Giroux has also also promised to name his partner in the tournament.

Director of Amazing Skym has also promised that the "invaders" who have caused havoc in the AWF over the past few months will be barred from the building.

The AWF Television championship will be on the line as KISS defends against Ricky Fyre. Newcomer Jess will also get an unlikely opportunity in her first AWF match, taking part in a four-way match with Harmony, Megan, and Starlets champion Jazz. In keeping with the mystery theme, Skym has hinted that the AWF United States championship will also be on the line, but nothing has been announced yet.

The semi main event will be an epic threeway dance featuring Core, Timothy Hawk, and Jean-Claude Giroux. All three are former champions, and vie for the next opportunity at the AWF world title. The newly-formed relationship between Hawk and Core will be tested in this match.

The main event will be a defining moment for the AWF and the Awesome Nation. Generations collide as WWWE and AWF legend Drake Richards takes on the man who bested him for the belt a month ago, Silva Dolla. "Cray Cray" has been pegged as one of the faces of the new generation of Awesome talent. Will the rugged powerhouse from Harlem be able to withstand the dynamic whirlwind that is "The Bad Boy". This is a showdown that simply cannot be missed.

If you can't make it to the Four Aces Casino & Hotel Resort in beautiful Las Vegas to take in the show in person, you better make sure to catch it on pay per view or wPPV.

AWF New Year, No Limits 2014

The Quad at the Four Aces Hotel & Casino Resort

Las Vegas, Nevada

Attendance 10,000

“A New Era of Awesome”

A masterfully produced promo video featuring the event's theme song fades into a shot of the arena. One of the regular homes of the Awesome Wrestling Federation, the huge auditorium known as the Quad at the Four Aces Hotel & Casino Resort is full of ten thousand loud fans. The custom pay per view set is huge, with a calendar motif to the stage backdrop that holds the Trill-Tron. The opening shows sweet across the arena, showing the rowdy crowd ready for the night of action.

Thomas Aria & Chaperone

Thomas Aria
: Good evening, Awesome Nation. Welcome to the first pay per view showcase event of 2014, New Year, No Limits. I am Thomas Aria. And with me, as always, is the indomitable Chaperone.

Chaperone
: Almost didn't make it to the booth on time, Tommy. The slots here at the Four Aces are hotter than my second wife.

Thomas Aria
: I'm not sure your current wife would appreciate that statement.

Chaperone
: Then she should be hotter.

Casey Skym

Director of Amazing Announcement

“A Worthy Grand Prix”

The show kicks off with what has been become tradition of late – an address from the Director of Amazing, Casey Skym. The beloved former wrestler shuffles up to the podium in his trademark casual wear. He looks rather self-satisfied.

He begins his address by stating in very clear and direct terms that the talent from PW-SUX will not be allowed into the pay per view tonight. The man known as The Zombie is giving an iron-clad, personal guarantee that they won't show up. So fans and wrestlers alike don’t have to worry about attacks or interference. Tonight is a night for the Awesome Nation.

Skym then brings up the Tag Team Trauma Grand Prix, which is also being referred to as the Zombie Cup. He says that despite two preliminary round matches already having taken place, tonight is officially the kick off of the tournament. And he has something very special for the fans shortly.

After letting that hang for a moment, Skym says that he his responsible for the tournament. This obvious statement draws a middling reaction, but he explains that he doesn’t mean in a “give me credit” kind of way. Rather, he is the fundamental cause. Because just over a year ago, it was Skym who decided to decommission that AWF Tag Team championships. It seemed right at the time, he claims with a shrug. The tag division was a mess, totally lacking in depth of quality teams. Many tag teams seemed more interested in working solo. So the decision was made.

But the passion many people have for tag team wrestling has shone through. Fans and wrestlers alike have shown that they miss a true, proper tag team division. And so Skym relented, and this Grand Prix exists to showcase tag team wrestling at its best. Over the past 18 months, Skym has been working tirelessly to make the AWF the best it can be. More than that, to evolve things for the Awesome Nation. Push the boundaries of what the wrestling business can be. Since the day he took over the company, he has tried to find the next big thing and tried to give new opportunities.

Which leads them all to this point.

To ensure the Awesome Nation boasts the great wrestling talent in the world…

To ensure the Awesome Nation has the best tag teams out there right now…

To ensure the Awesome Nation never stops entertaining….

Pyrotechnics go off and “Drink Drank Drunk” by Hellyeah starts to play. A pair of dark figures emerge through the entranceway and onto the stage. The spotlights find them. The first is a tall, thickset cowboy with a beard. He’s clearly a cowboy as he’s wearing a cowboy hat, along with jeans and a black T shirt. He stands next to a taller, more muscular gent with a square cut jaw, slicked back hair, sunglasses, and no shirt. He is showing off a physique that obviously took a lot of effort. The duo actually get a solid reaction from the fans.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Add%20Small/CloudJamesSmall_zps40ba07b8.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Add%20Small/SeanRileySmall_zps119ebd39.jpg

Cloud James & Sean Riley

A graphic identifies the pair but Skym provides more detail. He says the duo are the most talented, the most exceptional, the most successful, and the hardest partying tag team on the independent wrestling scene. They have tasted endless success. They have won tittles. They have even battled each other. But now, they want to step up the biggest stage. They want to conquer the Awesome Wrestling Federation.

Zombie states they are a surprise entry in the Tag Team Trauma Grand Prix and their first match will be tonight.

The addition of an “indy” team draws a surprisingly reaction. It could be because calling them such is a bit disingenuous. Dead or Alive made their bones in Championship Wrestling from Tennessee, which is the third biggest promotion in the United States. Any members of the Awesome Nation which are actually wrestling fans rather than simply AWF fans would be aware of the company and two of its biggest stars. James and Riley are arguably the two most popular wrestlers in the United States not already with PWI or the AWF.

While the duo enjoy their moment in the brighter spotlight, Skym says that he has another nice little surprise that was supposed to be shown before the tournament kicked off. However, the signing of these two men and the delay in Jean-Claude Giroux in naming his partner means it was delayed.

With a flourish, Skym points to the massive Trill-Tron screen on the set behind him. A video begins to play. The music is “This Means War” by Avenged Sevenfold. It starts with a black and white shot of the ugly Zombie Cup standing in the middle of the AWF ring, with a dark arena behind it. Several close shots lead to the first team...

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/WilsonHancockSmall_zps3aed33c3.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/VincentIParkerSmall_zps7b6874d9.jpg

Bang Mode

The combination of Wilson Hancock and Vincent Parker are not a regular tandem, but there are tons of great individual moments to make up a brief montage. They have a few tag team moments from some random teaming over the past few years. Hancock's manager Adrienne is featured plenty. “The Big Bang” has held the AWF United States championship, while “Beast Mode” has two US reigns and has previously held the AWF World Tag Team titles, with Leroy Winters. Based on individual accomplishments, the duo has to be amongst the tournament favorites.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Add%20Small/JohnnyHammerSmall_zpsb6cceed7.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Add%20Small/WooMercySmall_zpsc2a714c9.jpg

Hammer of Mercy

There isn't much recent footage of the duo that the AWF can use, but there is older footage from their American Wrestling Council days. The pair have plenty of success over the years, but much of it back in the day. They are in the tournament to represent the history of tag team wrestling in American (and Canadian) professional wrestling.

Enemies of the State

Possibly the preeminent full-time tag team current in the AWF, the Enemies were the last tag team champions before the belts were decommissioned. Their three-plus years in the company have offered plenty of highlights, many of which are antics of varying degrees of offensiveness and plenty of cheating in the ring.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Add%20Small/CloudJamesSmall_zps40ba07b8.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Add%20Small/SeanRileySmall_zps119ebd39.jpg

Dead or Alive

The newly-signed tandem became stars for a company that has been an ally of the AWF over the years, but its telling that there is no footage used from CWT. Instead, the 30-second promo video clip shows the duo training, partying, and getting into trouble around Hollywood. It puts across their personalities more than their in-ring talent.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/MoFurySmall_zpsa78bd3c9.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/RickyFyreSmall_zps33efb977.jpg

Burning Rage

Another team that isn't really a team, Mo Fury and Ricky Fyre joined forces merely for the Tag Team Trauma Tournament. And the chance at the one million dollar grand prize purse. That's a bit of a motivating factor too.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/BryceChristensen_alt5Small_zps7bda5e32.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/ChrisCandell_alt10Small_zps5de69b28.jpg

The New California Blondes

Two tag team specialists who made their bones as part of other teams have come together to form a pretty impressive tandem. But as the short promo very clearly indicates after showing some in-ring highlights for Christiansen and Candell, they have already been “ELIMINATED”.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/MarshalLawSmall_zps0bea02fc.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/TheoBarkleysmall_zps71075c06.jpg

The Mercenaries

A regular duo who would have been expected to do pretty well, especially with Barkley viewed as a rising star in the company. But like the Blondes, the tandem has already been “ELIMINATED”.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/Jean-ClaudeGirouxSmall_zps5a248f61.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Unknown_zpsbb3f8b28.jpg

Jean-Claude Giroux & ????

Jean-Claude Giroux is one of the AWF's brightest stars and he has found success in the past in tag teams. But he has not yet announced who he will partner with. The video focuses mostly on Giroux, but also makes note of his new association with Mountain Albert, with whom he would make a formidable team. Who will his partner be? This is a major question as the tournament gets fully underway.

Thomas Aria
: Brilliant video!

Chaperone
: One might think the addition of a new tag team to the AWF is bigger news, Thomas.

Thomas Aria
: Indeed!

Dead of Alive versus Hammer of Mercy

Tag Team Trauma “Zombie Cup” Grand Prix First Round Match

Of all the ways to introduce a hot new tag team, having them beat up on a pair of geriatrics is a unique one. But that is essentially what happens here. The Hammers of Mercy are 55 and 63 years old respectively, but they get no mercy from the newcomers. James and Riley could probably have the match won in record time, but they choose to toy with this opponents. The fans pop on the few occasions that Hammer and Woo get some offense in, but it doesn't laster long. DoA take the victory in their very first AWF match.

Cloud James Wins at 5:29 via Pinfall

Thomas Aria
: What a start to the AWF career of Dead or Alive!

Chaperone
: I would be more impressed if they didn't just beat two old men.

Thomas Aria
: Aren't you the one fond of saying that a win is a win, Chaperone?

Ricky Fyre versus Kiss

AWF Television Championship Match

Having won a chance at the AWF TV title earlier in the month, Fyre uses the opportunity on a pay per view. Ironic, in a sense. The match mainly highlights the energetic, almost-frenetic offense of Fyre. The defending champion doesn't do a ton, and looks a bit lethargic. The offense of Fyre leads him to hit his Unleash the Fyre finisher and win the AWF TV Championship. The fans pop a bit but its a match that ironically feels more like a TV match than worthy of the pay per view.

Ricky Fyre Wins at 8:21 via Pinfall

Thomas Aria
: A new TV champion!

Chaperone
: Except we aren't on TV. This is a pay per view.

Thomas Aria
: Semantics, my friend.

Chaperone
: Not your friend.

Johnny Hollywood, Jean-Claude Giroux, Nikita & Mountain Albert

An Awesome Wrestling Federation event simply isn't an AWF event without Johnny Hollywood Presents The Hollywood Show. At least so claims Hollywood himself. The preening, strutting host has a particularly expansive set on the big pay per view set. He really doesn't get to make much use of it, however. His guests are already on stage and he really only has to introduce them. Jean-Claude Giroux then takes over.

The French superstar begins by reminding fans just how much talent his new little stable already has. But it still needs something else. Someone who hasn't already tasted the pinnacle of pro wrestling success, but who has the potential and talent to reach that peak. Derek Rollins was given a chance last on ShockWave but he proved he is not ready. There are endless others who want that spot... but most are wanting.

One man stood out. One man who is clearly and definitively ahead of any of the other possibilities. One man who has the right stuff. One many who didn't jump at chance to join the most powerful stable that professional wrestling has yet seen because he has that much faith in himself. One whom Giroux is certain will know and accept his role.

Giroux is obviously enjoying dragging out this announcement. As he takes his time to tick off some of the requirements of this yet-to-be-announced individual, the commentary team mull over who it could be.

The moment is dragged out for dramatic effect. With good reason. With the new member of the Giroux-lead stable being a younger wrestler, it represents a step up and a big opportunity for whomever it is. It may also be someone throwing away the support of the fans to align themselves with the group.

The moment is finally neigh. The lights drop and after lasers blast around the arena, they all focus on a spot at the entrance to the stage, which is lit by several spotlights. Familiar music begins to play. “Domination” by Pantera, which means...

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/GarrettSouthSmall_zps13522af1.jpg

Garrett South

Its Garrett South who steps into the spotlight, sneering and tattooed. He is the AWF's most notorious loner, so him joining a stable is rather unexpected.

As South joins Giroux, Albert, and Nikita, the group's leader explains that South was always the first choice. But the man known as “The Honey Badger” doesn't play well with others and had to be convinced of the value of joining such a prestigious organization as this new power stable. He was convinced with money and opportunity. In money terms, the entire one million dollar purse than Giroux and South are going to win will go to the man from Kentucky. In opportunity terms, Giroux was able to secure him a shot at the AWF United States championship. Tonight. Next.

While many wrestlers in the Awesome Nation would be preening under such praise and attention, South looks typically surly. As Giroux drones on about what it took to land the talented Southern star, South snatches away the microphone. He says that his benefits are no business of these fans. All they need to know is that he is part of the stable. That's it. The rest ain't none of their damned business. He throws down the microphone to emphasize that point.

Giroux stands behind the surly “Honey Badger”, looking particularly pleased with himself and his new addition to the “protective” stable he leads.

Thomas Aria
: Garrett South? I am stunned.

Chaperone
: Have to say, I did not see that coming.

Garrett South versus Bryce Christensen

AWF United States Championship Match

Although not previously scheduled, the AWF United States championship is indeed on the line next. Whether it as previously arranged but not announced or whether its a genuine show of influence by Jean-Claude Giroux is not clear. South comes down to the ring from the Hollywood Show set, looking intense and motivated. Christensen looks almost as intense, but that look quickly disappears as the bell rings and launches aggressive offense. He batters the champion, who cannot gain his footing. The match is almost ten years old before the man known as “Skyfall” begins a coming back, spurred on by the energetic fans. He never manages to take over control of the match, as Nikita distracts the referee and South delivers a vicious and illegal strike to Chrisensen's throat. With the champion struggling to regain his breath, the challenger takes back control and he continues to inflict heavy damage. The throat shot takes on extra significance when South delivers Southern Justice – an elevated flapjack into a hangman, which slams Christensen's throat into the top rope, then smashing him with a short-arm lariat on the rebound. The AWF is filled with great-looking finisher maneuvers, but Southern Justice looks amazing and especially when someone sells it as much as the champion does. The fans boo as South gets the pin and the victory. He is handed the belt as his new stable-mates climb into the ring, but he's not in a celebrating mood. South takes the belt and departs rather than celebrating.

Garrett South Wins at 12:14 via Pinfall

Thomas Aria
: The South's alliance with Giroux and company has already paid off for the young man.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Stable%20Small/Cross_SUXSmall_zpsd97b1309.jpg

Cross

The video fades into a black and white shot of a grungy, grimy bar. Early morning sunshine strains its way through filthy windows, illuminating a battered wood floor. There is an ancient juke box along the wall, and stools strewn about. The place has a chaotic vibe, like it was just the scene of an epic night of partying. Or perhaps an epic fight.

The camera slowly pans across the empty, messy environment until it reaches the bar itself. Someone is standing behind the bar in the otherwise empty room. They are leaning against the bar, head down. Hair hangs down and obscures their face. The individual looks up. Its Cross. He looks even more ragged than usual, with his black T-shirt ripped and torn. His hard stare into the camera carries its typical intensity, however.

Cross:
This place… that most of you would call a shithole… this is the kind of place that Pro Wrestling Superstars Uncensored and Xtreme comes from. Not its home. Its heart. Its soul.

He stands, his burning eyes never leaving the camera.

Cross:
This is NOT Hollywood. This is not glitz and glamor of the Red Carpet, Rodeo Drive, a house in the hills, a new sitcom pilot... This isn’t even a washed up coke whore actress trying to land a reality TV Show. There is no veneer. There are no falsities here. This is what many of you would consider “rock bottom”. But for many of us, its home. Its where we were born. Its where we live. Its where we will die. This is where my brethren and I crawled out of from. My army.

He takes a deep breath, as if savoring the stinking air in the bar.

Cross:
There is something you fans don’t understand… can’t understand… For those of us who scratch a living by climbing into this ring and putting our bodies on the line, the Awesome Wrestling Federation is supposed to be our nirvana. Our promised land where all dreams are achieved. The roads here are paved with gold and the new American dream is fulfilled… fame, fortune, 5 star hotels, limos, paparazzi….

A slow, sad shake of the head.

Cross
: The reality of Awesome is much less... awesome. The dream is a lie. The paradise simply a falsehood. The facade you see is a false veneer covering the same rotting core as the rest of America. The spectacle they present is to divert your eyes from the reality of this organization. The AWF reeks of decay just as much as the rest of this land. You can’t slap paint on a house made of rotting lumber. Once you step inside, you cannot hide the filthy desperation.

Cross turns around slowly as the camera pans. He faces the back wall of the bar which has a mirror and sink. Facing his own reflection, he continues.

Cross:
The men and women who make up this company, they have talent. They have that. But they have lost something else. In chasing the money and the glory and the riches and the excess that Hollywood promises, they gave away their soul. They forgot what it’s like to suffer to earn your way. They forgot how to roll up your sleeves and stick your arms down into the filth and muck. They forgot how to get their hands dirty.

He slaps his palms hard against the glass of the mirror, ratting the wall with emphasis.

Cross:
The Army, we are here to remind them. We are here to bring this company back to basics. Mr. Skym may try to keep us out, but he will fail. We have the truth on our side.

Cross breaks into a creepy smile. He reaches down and turns on the tap, then begins to wash his hands. The camera pans slightly to where he put his hands on the mirror and shows that he left behind two dark palm prints on the glass. Bloody hand prints? The camera then focuses in on the sink, where the dark being washed off his hands circles the drain.

The video fades to black, then flashes this statement.

A paid advertisement of the SUX Army.

Jess versus Harmony versus Megan versus Jazz

AWF Starlets Championship

This is not a typical Starlets match. The four women in the ring are joined by a several people at ringside – Herculez for the champion, Serenity for Megan, Wilson Hancock and Adrienne for the newcomer Jess. Its not the volume of people at ringside that makes the match different. Nor is it how messy the four-way is. Its different because of Jess. She doesn't stand out for her looks looks, size, or athleticism. She stands out because of her wrestling. It is smooth, fluid, and dynamic in a manner that no Starlet has yet achieved. She gets in plenty of offense to show off those in-ring skills. The champion and her friend Harmony team up in the early going but that fades away, despite the encouragement of Herculez. When the big man moves to interfere, Hancock stops him and the confrontation between the two grabs the attentions of Harmony and Jazz, allowing Jess to send both of them out of the ring before slamming Megan in the face with a vicious super kick. It allows her to get the pinfall and the victory. In her very first match in the AWF, Jess becomes AWF Starlets champion. She doesn't celebrate much, but Wilson Hancock sure does.

Jess Wins at 11:4 via Pinfall

Drake Richards

Arrival Promo

A video is shown the challenger arriving at the arena. There is something of a “red carpet” texture to it, with a small mob of young fans. Drake Richards is in street clothes and he looks determined. The cameraman calls for him to say something so he stops and stares hard into the camera. He cuts a short promo, saying that one month ago, the AWF World Heavyweight championship was stolen from him. Taken by a once-honorable man who had become nothing but a greedy thief in the night. But Silva Dolla won't have help tonight. No one to do his dirty work. Its all Silva to prove himself. The Bad Boy is here to make sure that doesn't happen.

Enemies of the State versus Bang Mode

Tag Team Trauma “Zombie Cup” Grand Prix First Round Match

This is a tantalizing first round Grand Prix match as it pits a highly decorated tag team against two highly decorated individuals. Moreover, it features four of the most brash individuals in the company, and the dynamic comes into play almost immediately as the two teams chirp at each other as soon as they are both at ringside. The combination of Vincent I. Parker and Wilson Hancock have Hancock's two consorts with them – his manager Adrienne and “friend” Jess. The new Starlet has her newly-won Starlets championship with her. The match goes back and forth between the two teams in the early going, with the teamwork of the established tandem giving them a definitive edge. “The Big Bang” Hancock is isolated and worked over for a time, building to his hot tag of “Beast Mode”, who demonstrates exactly that in decimating the Enemies of the State when he finally gets into the ring. But he is slowed down as well and the teamwork of the Enemies appears that it might carry them through to an outstanding win.

Omri Stone and Revolver Binx are looking as good as they have in a long while. The new team look to be in real trouble, especially when Revolver Binx jumps off the ring apron and sneaks around to the other side of the ring, pulling Hancock off his apron and sending him crashing into the ringside barrier. Binx looks pretty satisfied with himself and Parker checks on his partner. When Binx gets back, he is greeted by Jess, who smashes her Starlets title into his forehead. Having caught the incident out of the corner of his eye, Omri Stone is appalled to his partner down at ringside. At the hands of a women no less. Stone yells at her, and when he leans through the ropes to holler at the new Starlets champion, he too gets belted in the head. This all escapes the attention of the downed Hancock, the worried Adrienne and V.I.P., and the typically oblivious ref. When Parker turns back, Beast Mode sees Stone just beginning to stumble to his feet, looking rather drunken. Not sure what happened, V.I.P. nonetheless takes advantage, delivering some quick-fire offense then his Out of the Park urange finisher.

Bang Mode Win at 15:01 via Pinfall

Timothy Hawk

In-Ring Promo

Perhaps the most popular wrestler in the Awesome Wrestling Federation, Hawk comes down to “Hero of the Day” by Metallica and a hero's welcome. He steps into the ring and acknowledges the fans before taking the microphone. The superstar then cuts a trademark passionate promo, stating that the newly-formed friendship and respect he has with Core will be set aside for tonight's match. Both of them recognize how important a chance to become the number one contender is. Whether its Drake Richards or Silva Dolla who prevails tonight, “The Heartbeat of Awesome” wants thee opportunity to test himself against them. Especially if its his former ally Dolla, a man he once respected. A man he once called his friend. But no more. Silva Dolla threw away all the respect he had earned from the Awesome Nation, aligning himself with a group of unwanted invaders. And even though that group won't be be able to assert themselves tonight, they haven't been forgotten.

Timothy Hawk versus Core versus Jean-Claude Giroux

Three-Way Dance to Determine Number One Contender

Timothy Hawk is already in the ring, ready for action. Core emerges next, the two nodding at each other but taking separate corners of the ring. Then Jean-Claude Giroux makes his grand entrance, escorted by his stable - Nikita, Mountain Albert, and Garrett South. “The Parisian Playboy” revels in the negative reaction from the Awesome Nation, taking his time to get into the ring and remove his gilded robe.

The match finally gets underway and as typical for a threeway match, its a mess. Its in and out of the ring, disjointed, chaotic, and rather fun. Any concerns about collusion between Hawk and Core are alleviated early and they do work to inflict damage on each other as much as Giroux. The cerebral Hawk has an advantage as he has faced both opponents many times, while each are familiar only with him. The man known as “The Heartbeat of Awesome” tries to make that work to his advantage but finds himself thwarted repeatedly. There is significant interference from Giroux's stable, culminating in a stare-down between Mountain Albert and Core. This leads to referee James Jewell banishing Albert and South from ringside. Only Nikita, with her valid manager's license, is allowed to remain. With the pair departing, so departs Giroux's greatest advantage. A short time later, Nikita is saying something unpleasant to Timothy Hawk, with Giroux using the distraction to his advantage. The pair brawl outside, leading to Hawk delivering his devastating Justice Slam on the outside. When he rolls Giroux back in the ring, Core pins Giroux. Jewell counts out the three and Giroux is out. Hawk looks slightly annoyed but doesn't react. Giroux doesn't leave ringside but stays to watch while Hawk and Core engage in a tired but heavy-handed battle. It is 6'11” against 6'5” and two powerhouses. As it gets more physical, Core seems to gain drive. The monster “Devil Machine” loves to dish out punishment, and taking punishment in return only spurs him forward. He begins to gain the advantage against his now-ally, but Hawk knows Core well. He counters well and works to make the big man even more aggressive, until they go outside. Giroux threatens to interfere but the referee warns him away. When Core gets over-aggressive and charges, he misses and crashes into the ring post. That's the advantage Hawk needs, using the ringside area to inflict heavy damage on the big man. Back in the ring, he unleashes his trademark barrage of offense, leaving Core reeling. The masked monster tries to battle back, but the momentum is all with Hawk now. The crowd surges and urges with every offensive move. When Core tries a comeback, he is cut off and blasted again and again. The crescendo of the crowd builds to a peak as he delivers his trademark Justice Slam then gets the three count.

Hawk doesn't celebrate much. He ends up standing across the ring from Core. They stare at each other. There is a moment of tension in the air before they step toward the center of the ring and shake hands. Respect maintained. They then look to Giroux, who is still at ringside with Nikita. The question hangs in the air – does he share their unity against the threat that still hangs over the AWF as a company. Giroux laughs pompously and makes a show of turning his back on the pair, walking away with Nikita trailing behind.

Chaperone
: That was a war.

Thomas Aria
: I am speechless.

Chaperone
: Clearly not.

Silva Dolla

Backstage Promo

The reigning AWF World Heavyweight champion is shown backstage, wearing his ring gear and holding his precious championship belt. The camera gets close, right up in his grill, and he reacts by violently shoving it away. As the suitably-intimidated cameraman begins to pull away, Dolla grabs the camera and pull it close. He hollers into it about the ring being his yard, and no is badder. He points emphatically at the world title belt over his shoulder, making it clear that no one is taking the belt from him. No one..

It’s not so much a promo as it is a show of immense intensity from the reigning champion.

Drake Richards versus Silva Dolla

AWF World Heavyweight Championship Match

The Awesome Wrestling Federation notoriously goes all out on pay per view events to make the main event have a “big fight feel”. This starts out with the arena going dark before an explosion of lights, lasers, and pyrotechnics remind all that it is time for the main event. Then announcer “Smooth” Dave D makes an appearance in the ring. The silk-voiced announcer is only used by the company for the main event of pay per views and rarely otherwise. His booming yet smooth delivery is like none other. He states that its time for the main event then let’s loose his trademark battle cry – “This… is……. AWESOME!” The crowd roars their approval. He then launches into the introduction of the challenger. At 6'1” and 238 pounds, from Hollywood, the six-time AWF World Heavyweight champion Drake Richards. “The End of Heartache” by Killswitch Engage begins to play and Richards appears… halfway up the massive stage set, standing on a hidden platform between the giant letters spelling out “New Year” and “No Limits”.That platform slowly lowers until its just a few feet off the ground, and Richards then leaps off, landing on the stage and performing an air guitar solo before he races down to the ring. While the veteran poses and preens to the adoring crowd, an actual red carpet is rolled out by AWF employees, running down the ramp. Nothing but the best for the AWF's new world champion. Finally, its time for the world champion to be introduced. He is 6'6” and 270 pounds, from the mean streets of Harlem, New York. “Ain't No Sunshine” by DMX plays and then he emerges. He sneers at the red carpet disdainfully but still walks down it, gesturing at the booing fans to rile them up further.

The bell rings to start the match. The opponents circle warily. Then, with a cocky smirk, Richards kicks into action. The challenger is smaller but much more agile, athletic, and quick. The champion has a size and power advantage, but brawling only works if you can get your hands on your opponent. And in the opponent minutes of the encounter, he cannot. It is the veteran Richards at his very best, a blur as he moves around the ring, using every inch of space and the entire environment. It’s a jaw-dropping display of his unique skills that, even after 44 years old, have yet to decline. The commentary team questions whether Richards can maintain this pace for long enough to wear out the champion without exhausting himself, with Chaperone insistent that the veteran cannot. The discussion quickly becomes irrelevant as Silva manages to move out of the way and pull the top rope down as Richards charges him, sending the challenger over the top rope, crashing into the ringside barriers before hitting the floor below. It appears that he hits his left leg particularly hard. Dolla then takes over, using the ringside area to inflict damage on the challenger. The match becomes a brawl, moving slower and between the ring and ringside area. The champion controls much of the action. As it moves past the quarter hour mark, it appears the challenger in some trouble. But he begins a big comeback, putting Dolla back on his heels with another round of quick-fire offense. That doesn't last too long, as the champion ruthless goes for the knee that Richards hurt when he went over the top rope. It has seriously slowed the challenger down and altered the dynamic of the match.

The match goes back and forth, with the champion holding the advantage. The damage accumulates for both and the match slows. They trade pinfall attempts, with the crowd buying into each one wholeheartedly. Things turn decidedly against the challenger when he floors Dolla with a leaping forearm blow and sensing his opportunity, tries to get to the top rope. But he moves slow and while he can leap to the top rope when at his best, his bad knee hobbles him and slows him. The champion stumbles to his feet and seeing the danger of the slowly-climbing Richards, he pushes his opponent off. Richards lands again on his bad knee, howling in pain. There is a bit of a smile on Silva's face now, as if recognizing the situation that his opponent is in. There is also recognition on the face of Richards as he comes to understand that his trademark mobility is gone and he has lost his greatest advantage. It begins to feel likes its merely a matter of time. Silva starts to stalk, continuing to inflict damage on that knee. When he finally delivers his Dolla Sign finisher, Richards doesn't have enough left to kick out. The champion retains.

The celebration of Dolla is minimal. He is handed his belt and he holds it up to the fans, who boo voraciously. Richards has made it back to his feet, wobblign on his bad wheel. He nods, accepting the defeat. In a show of good faith, he offers a handshake to the victor. Dolla stares at it for a hard moment, then turns his back and leaves the ring.

Silva Dolla Wins at 26:14 via Pinfall

I haven't read dynasties for ages but just been going through some this weekend and have read this in one go - can't wait to see what's coming next! Love how you've built up guys I'm unfamiliar with (I'm a newbie to the Thunderverse) so well in the first few shows, already intrigued by Cross and the SUX guys, Dolla, Richards, Giroux, Honey Badger, DoA, and Core, in particular. Great work!

Thanks Jaded. Glad you are enjoying. And I strongly recommend taking the time to check out the ThunderVerse mod. its rather amazing work.

To be perfectly honest, I'm at something of a crossroad with the project. I swore off of full-show projects like this a few years ago and still decided to give this one a try. And given how long its taken me to churn out this PPV, its not workable. Just don't have the time I want/need to do it the way I want to. I kinda figured on switching over to a monthly recap format at some point on this project, and it is probably going to happen now, or the project won't continue. I'm not absolutely certain it will, just because life is still pretty busy and with some form of ThunderVerse change coming out, that may further affect things. But for the moment, the intent is to go forward on a monthly recap style.
