Comments: This Rumble looks a bit predictable to me here. I love some ???s in a Rumble, but i can't pick them to win, lol. Steamboat seems like a good choice, but no, he will be eliminated by someone, starting a feud for WrestleMania. Perfect, Hogan and Savage are my three solid choices. Perfect is feuding with the Boss Man over the Intercontinental title, so bye. Hogan will be eliminated by Slaughter, leading to the non-title (like it should have been in real life) match, and then, it only leaves Macho as an option. Macho vs. Warrior for the belt, book it!

Update:

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for your predictions and comments. They mean so much to jhd1 and myself. I always enjoy reading how people think things are going to go and why they think they're going to go there. The insight does help with my booking and other things as well.

I also wanted to post here that I have the entire show written up except for the Royal Rumble match itself. The Royal Rumble match will have a full write-up. I have decided to make two separate posts for the show. One with the rest of the matches and then one with purely the Royal Rumble itself because that will be a long post. But I am on track right now to get the show posted at some point tomorrow. So make sure that you get those predictions in if you wish to predict. At one point in the match, though, Tanaka is sent outside the ring and Shawn Michaels climbs the turnbuckles. He hits a standing moonsault, taking down all three members of the Orient Express and Mr. Fuji! The crowd goes wild at such a high risk move. A sign goes up in the background that reads:'The Orient gets Rocked at Midnight!' The action returns to the ring where The Rockers take the advantage at around the seven minute mark. This match, in contrast to the first match, is definitely more of a brawling fight to the finish. Both men get their advantages in the ring and both make attempts to put the other in a body bag only to have it stopped by their opponent. At one point, The British Bulldog hits The Undertaker with his running powerslam and feeds off the cheers from the crowd as he walks over to get a body bag. Paul Bearer raises the urn at ringside and The Undertaker sits up! The crowd is in shock and so is The British Bulldog! A sign goes up in the stands behind the wrestlers reading: 'Bulldog's headed for the Pet Cemetary!' The Undertaker gets to his feet and takes control, sending The Bulldog to the ropes and running after him, catching him in a leaping clothesline! The Undertaker picks up The Bulldog and holds him by the arm as he walks over to the turnbuckle. He climbs and shows amazing agility as he walks along the top rope before bringing a forearm across the back. He runs his thumb across his throat and picks up The British Bulldog -- Tombstone Piledriver! As soon as the Tombstone connects, a fan raises up a sign that reads: 'Time to get the Body Bag!' The Hart Foundation gets the early advantage, using several quick tags in and out, focusing on the arm of Brian Knobbs with arm wrenches, arm bars and elbows to the arm. As the Hart Foundation is in control, a sign is seen in the background: 'The Nastys are so fat they'll have a Hart Attack on their way to the ring!' Neidhart takes a slight risk when he goes for a dropkick to Knobbs and Knobbs moves out of the way. Neidhart hits the back of his head on the mat and he is dragged into the Nasty Boys' corner. Quick tags become the norm for Knobbs and Sags as they use frequent double teams to keep The Anvil in their corner. At one point, Knobbs yells at Bret Hart and Bret comes in the ring, only for the referee to step in and escort Bret to his corner. This gives Jimmy Hart a chance to choke Neidhart in the corner, releasing before the referee turns back around. Sags picks up and body slams Neidhart near a corner before going to the top rope. Sags leaps but misses the flying elbowdrop! The crowd roars in the favor of The Hart Foundation as Neidhart crawls toward the corner. Knobbs is tagged in but so is Bret Hart! Bret comes in with kicks and punches for both Knobbs and Sags! He catches Sags with a swinging neckbreaker. When he gets up, he ducks a clothesline from Knobbs and brings him down with a Russian legsweep! Hart gets to his feet and Neidhart comes into the ring. Neidhart picks up Knobbs and Bret bounces off the ropes -- Hart Attack Clothesline! We are shown brief snippets of Piper's Pit from that same night. The hype video continues, showing the confrontations again and again by Slaughter and The Ultimate Warrior, ending with this past week's edition of Prime Time Wrestling. It is there that Sgt. Slaughter pinned The Ultimate Warrior in tag team action. Will it happen again tonight? Adnan covers the ears of Slaughter after they get in the ring. Then he proceeds to wave the large Iraqi flag. Slaughter stands at attention and salutes the flag as his music dies off and the music of The Ultimate Warrior begins! The Ultimate Warrior runs down to the ring and slides inside, ducking a double clothesline attempt by Slaughter and Adnan! Warrior bounces off the ropes and catches both Slaughter and Adnan with a double clothesline! Adnan rolls out of the ring and Warrior picks up the flag, breaking the pole over his knee! The crowd roars their approval. The Ultimate Warrior picks up Sgt. Slaughter -- atomic drop! Slaughter staggers into a corner. Warrior picks up a head of steam and rushes the corner but Slaughter moves! Warrior crashes hard into the corner and Slaughter grabs him, lifting him up into a back breaker, dropping him to the mat. The crowd continues to boo loudly for Slaughter as Slaughter maintains control for several minutes. He tries to lock The Ultimate Warrior into the Cobra Clutch but Warrior shows off his power when he manages to break the hold! The two men both bounce off the ropes and a double clothesline sends them both to the mat. The Ultimate Warrior grabs the ropes and begins shaking them, getting the crowd into the match. Slaughter manages to reach his feet and walks over, throwing forearm shots that the Warrior doesn't even seem to feel! The Ultimate Warrior gets to his feet and turns to Slaughter, ducking a forearm shot and throwing punches to Slaughter, sending him back in a corner. Warrior climbs up and begins raining down ten punches to the skull of Sgt. Slaughter! General Adnan climbs up on the apron, getting the attention of the referee. Warrior signals for the Gorilla Press Slam and picks Sgt. Slaughter up over his head! With the referee's back turned to the action, The Iron Sheik enters the ring and catches The Ultimate Warrior in the knee with one of those Persian clubs! Warrior drops to the mat with Sgt. Slaughter falling on top. As The Iron Sheik exits the ring, Adnan drops off the apron and the referee turns around, dropping down to make the count. Martel tries to twist Roberts over but Roberts gets control, using his leg power to send Martel twisting to the mat. Martel rolls out of the ring and The Snake follows him. The brawl continues along the ringside area, including Roberts trying to bash Martel face-first into the ring post but Martel blocks it and sends Roberts against the post instead. Roberts staggers back and Martel draws knees to the gut of the Snake. He talks about being eliminated last year by Hulk Hogan and says that he refuses to have that happen again. Perfect uses the distraction to hit a standing dropkick and bring the big man down to the mat. Perfect mounts Bossman and begins throwing punch after punch. The crowd boos this cheap tactic by Perfect but it definitely works in the early goings of the match. Perfect grabs the mouth of Bossman, yanking it on either side before slamming him face-first into the mat, gathering a quick one count on the fan favorite. Perfect picks up Bossman and sends him to the ropes -- reversed! Bossman lowers his head and sends Perfect flying into the air with a back body drop. Perfect hits the mat hard, grabbing his back in pain. Bossman continues on the offensive with several power moves on Perfect. Bossman sends Perfect to the ropes and catches him with a big boot! He chokes Perfect on the middle rope and then moves to bounce off the ropes but his foot is grabbed by Bobby Heenan! This is a definite distraction as Bossman doesn't go down but he does turn his attention to the Brain. Perfect exits the ring quickly and staggers over to where Heenan is. Bossman grabs Heenan by the jacket but Perfect is there and Perfect grabs Bossman by the legs and drags him outside the ring. Perfect sends Bossman to the ring post face-first. After a consult with Heenan, Perfect grabs the IC belt and walks around the ring to the ramp. Perfect and Heenan walk off toward the back with Perfect telling the camera that he is resting up for tonight. Bossman manages to make it back into the ring before the ten count. The match definitely seems to play more into the wheelhouse of Bret Hart and it shows as he uses a kneebar on Michaels to keep the member of The Rockers on the mat. Hart tries for the first elimination of the night when he tries to eliminate Michaels but Michaels struggles, holding on to the ropes and finally fighting his way back into the ring. Michaels takes the first high risk of the night when he heads to the top turnbuckle -- Missle Dropkick! Michaels plays to the crowd as the countdown begins to a new wrestler appearing. Backlund uses his amateur background to wrestle with the man known as The Excellence Of Execution. Shawn Michaels seems content to wait back in a corner, letting Backlund and Hart fight it out in the ring. Backlund goes for the Cross-Face Chicken Wing on Hart but Michaels comes in and clotheslines Backlund on the back of his head. Michaels takes a few steps back and then catches Backlund with a savate kick! Backlund moves in behind Michaels and hooks in the Cross-Face Chicken Wing! They both fall to the mat but there are no submissions in the Royal Rumble! Bret Hart hooks Rick Martel in the Sharpshooter! Two submission moves going on at once inside the Royal Rumble! Martel and Dino Bravo turn their attention to Shawn Michaels and Bob Backlund, breaking the hold and putting the boots to Backlund and Michaels. Martel yanks up Michaels and holds his arms from behind as Dino Bravo gets a few punches in where Michaels cannot defend himself. Martel releases the member of The Rockers and moves to eliminate him. A double team from Martel and Bravo sends Shawn Michaels over the top rope to the floor. Shawn Michaels has been eliminated. The Dragon gets an advantage and whips Bravo into a corner, following that with a monkey flip! Steamboat turns just in time to catch a clothesline from Martel. Martel grabs Steamboat by the hair and tosses him over the top rope! But Steamboat holds on to the ropes! His feet never touch the floor! Bravo sees that and begins walking over as Steamboat is pulling himself in. Steamboat's legs wrap around the head of Bravo and he pulls Bravo up and over! Dino Bravo hits the floor and is eliminated! This is Ax. The powerful Ax enters the ring and goes after Bret Hart! He gives The Hitman a headbutt and then moves to a corner where he uses body punches to wear down Hart. On another side of the ring, Rick Martel and Bob Backlund are still battling it out with each other. Martel tries to eliminate Backlund but Backlund wraps himself around the top rope, struggling to keep from being eliminated. Ricky Steamboat comes over and saves Backlund by attacking Rick Martel. Steamboat and Martel wage a small war in one corner of the ring. But the eyes are brought back to the fight between Ax and Bret Hart. Ax catches Hart with a swinging neckbreaker and then tosses The Hitman over the top rope. Hart lands on the apron, pulling himself up. A clothesline from Ax sends Bret Hart to the floor, eliminating him, leaving Bob Backlund as the man who has been in there the longest. A sign goes up in the crowd reading: 'I came here for Demolition!' The more powerful half of The L.O.D. enters the ring and goes right after Ax! We've been seeing staredowns between Demolition and the Legion of Doom here lately. Now we see the fight! Animal sends Ax to the ropes and catches him with a scoop powerslam! We have eight men so far that have entered the Royal Rumble and three have been eliminated. Ax and Animal are taking center-stage at this moment as they fight it out in the center of the ring. In one corner, Rick Martel is doing battle with Bob Backlund. In another corner, Ricky Steamboat is watching the action. When Ax gets control over Animal, Steamboat steps in with chops to the large chest of Ax. Steamboat catches Ax with a dropkick that has Ax staggering back against the ropes. Steamboat charges in and at the last moment he slides between the legs of Ax, hitting the floor. But he never went over the top rope so he is safe. He trips Ax from outside the ring and then climbs on the apron, climbing back in the ring. He doesn't seem to care who he hits because everyone is for themselves in the Royal Rumble. Valentine grabs Rick Martel and body slams him before dropping the Hammer Elbow Drop! Ax attempts to eliminate Animal up against the ropes! He looks like he might be successful! On another part of the ring, Valentine has Martel against the ropes. Bob Backlund joins with Valentine, pushing Martel over the top rope but Martel lands on the apron. Backlund turns on Valentine, quickly lifting him up and over the top rope! Greg Valentine has been eliminated! Martel slides back in the ring and Backlund brings him to the mat, working him over with some good amateur wrestling. Animal has fought back from the brink of elimination to gain control over Ax. He raises Ax in a Gorilla Press Slam, dropping him behind instead of forward. Who in the world is going to be able to eliminate this big man? He bounces off the ropes and then lands with that big Earthquake Splash to the chest of the Road Warrior. In another area of the ring, Ricky Steamboat and Ax are fighting it out. Steamboat shows some strength of his own as he gets Ax up and over with a gutwrench suplex. The crowd cheers for The Dragon, some 'Dragon' chants building within the audience. Steamboat climbs outside and heads to the top turnbuckle! He waits for Ax to get to his feet -- Flying Cross Body! He connects but there are no pinfalls here in the Royal Rumble! We have seven men in the ring right now. Animal is almost over the top rope. Crush walks down to ringside and goes to grab Animal but gets a punch for his trouble. Animal elbows Earthquake a few times to fight his way back and the ring is filling up with a sea of humanity. Crush enters the ring and quickly looks to save Ax from the brink of elimination, catching Ricky Steamboat with a forearm shot to the back. The two members of Demolition assault Steamboat, hitting him with a double backbreaker in one corner of the ring. In another, Animal fights his way out of the corner with Earthquake and leaps into the fray against Demolition! Bob Backlund and Rick Martel are still doing battle in one corner of the ring. Backlund drew number three and he is still in this one. Backlund hooks Martel in the Cross-Face Chicken Wing! They go down to the mat together with Martel struggling in the hold. Punches and kicks are exchanged between the two heavy hitting teams! Hawk gets Ax in a corner and climbs up, throwing punches to the head. We get a ten count of punches before Hawk drops down. Hawk climbs to the top turnbuckle as Animal lifts Crush on his shoulders -- Doomsday Device! The double team move works, sending Crush flipping to the mat! Bob Backlund releases the hold on Martel and goes after Earthquake! That might be a mistake, Mr. Backlund! Earthquake blocks a suplex attempt, instead lifting Backlund up and just dropping him down to the mat. Earthquake begins his set up for the Earthquake Splash and then connects with the seated senton splash. Backlund is down and probably out! He is approached by Ricky Steamboat. The Dragon goes for chops but The Undertaker ignores the pain, grabbing Steamboat by the throat -- Chokeslam! Steamboat hits the mat hard. Earthquake comes running in and The Undertaker grabs him by the throat -- Chokeslam on Earthquake! The crowd and announcers are in shock! The Undertaker picks up Earthquake and tosses him over the top rope to the floor! Earthquake has been eliminated! The Legion Of Doom attempt to try their hand at The Undertaker. Double team kicks to the gut of the Deadman. They whip him to the ropes and send him to the mat with a double clothesline! A celebration is short-lived as The Undertaker sits up and rises to his feet like a horror movie villain. The Undertaker shoves Hawk away suddenly and grabs Animal by the throat. Hawk was shoved into the corner where Demolition was! A quick double team by Demolition and Hawk is sent over the top rope to the floor! Hawk is eliminated! The Undertaker chokes Animal to the mat as Animal tries to break the choke hold. But he gets stopped when Ricky Steamboat jumps on his back, locking in a sleeper! The crowd cheers the sleeper that Steamboat has on The Undertaker. The Undertaker tries to break the hold but he ends up going down to one knee. Demolition double team Animal in one corner but somehow Animal fights his way out of there! Animal grabs Crush and shows his power when he tosses Crush over the top rope. Crush's feet land on the floor. Crush is eliminated! The Undertaker somehow pushes his way back to his feet and walks over to the ropes. He ducks his head and shoves Steamboat up and over. Steamboat lands on the apron. The Undertaker waits for him to get up and a clothesline sends Steamboat to the floor! Ricky Steamboat is eliminated! Left inside the ring right now are: Bob Backlund, Ax, Animal, The Undertaker and Jimmy Snuka. The clothesline sends Sam Houston back over the top rope to the floor! Sam Houston is eliminated! The Undertaker turns his attention quickly to Jimmy Snuka. Snuka tries to use some speed to counter the power of The Undertaker. Snuka hits several dropkicks on The Undertaker and then charges him for a clothesline but The Undertaker grabs him by the throat. Animal gets knocked backward into The Undertaker by Ax. The Undertaker grabs him by the throat as well! A double chokeslam on both Jimmy Snuka and Animal rocks the ring! Ax moves in quickly, grabbing Animal and throwing him over the top rope. Animal has been eliminated! We are now halfway through the numbers for the Royal Rumble. The Undertaker picks up Jimmy Snuka and hooks him -- Tombstone Piledriver! Snuka is laid out in the center of the ring! The Undertaker picks him up and sends Jimmy Snuka flying over the top rope to the floor! Jimmy Snuka has been eliminated! That leaves three men in the ring: Bob Backlund, Ax and The Undertaker. Tugboat makes a motion like he is going to eliminate The Undertaker! He picks up The Undertaker, moving to the ropes but The Undertaker grabs the top rope to stop the momentum. Tugboat throws a couple of forearms to The Undertaker, trying to break his grip. Tugboat steps back and hooks The Undertaker, dropping him in a side-slam instead. Bob Backlund goes for the Cross-Face Chicken Wing again in this match, this time to one half of Demolition! Ax tries to use his power to break the hold but Backlund has a firm grip. Ax and Smash do a Demolition Decapitation move on Tugboat! Within moments, a double clothesline from Demolition sends Tugboat over the top rope to the floor! Tugboat has been eliminated! So right now we have Demolition, The Undertaker and Bob Backlund in the ring. Backlund looks a little worried but instead Demolition turn their sites toward The Undertaker! Backlund joins them in this moment, three on one striking The Undertaker and looking to eliminate one of the largest men in the Royal Rumble. It is only through a triple team by Demolition and Bob Backlund that The Undertaker is thrown over the top rope and to the floor! The Undertaker has been eliminated! That leaves Demolition and Bob Backlund in the ring. Things are not looking so good for Bob Backlund as he tries to work around the ring to keep from the two large face-painted wrestlers. Backlund has been in the ring for over thirty minutes now as he is just planted into the mat time and time again. About a minute into this destruction, Demolition and The Warlord begin to argue about who is going to eliminate him. A shoving match ensues and somehow Bob Backlund gathers up whatever strength he has left. Bob Backlund sets his body and grabs Ax, lifting and sending him over the top rope to the floor! Ax has been eliminated! What a shocking turn of events! Backlund drops to his knees in a heap, sweating and barely able to stand now that the adrenaline has worn off. The announcers wonder if Bob Backlund can even win the Royal Rumble if he cannot stand up. The Warlord and Smash begin fighting themselves, leaving Backlund on a heap. Punches are thrown between the two heavy hitters with neither man backing down. The battle moves toward the ropes with both men attempting to eliminate each other. They are struggling so much with each other that they do not see Bob Backlund moving in close behind them. Bob Backlund moves in and screams out his own strength as he lifts both The Warlord and Smash over the top rope to the floor! The Warlord and Smash have been eliminated! The crowd is in stunned silence as Bob Backlund is left alone in the ring on his knees. He is breathing heavy and looks to be on the verge of passing out. But he remains there, waiting for the buzzer to sound. Hercules picks up Backlund, hooking on a version of the Torture Rack. He stretches the back of Backlund and then drops him unceremoniously to the mat. Hercules plays to the booing crowd for a moment, taking his time right now, knowing that Backlund is in no position to fight back at the moment. Hercules slowly picks up Backlund and bashes him head-first into the turnbuckle. And even that makes Backlund fall to the mat. Hercules just laughs at the situation he is in. Neidhart wrestled earlier tonight against The Nasty Boys so he is ready to go. He enters the ring and the fight is on between Neidhart and Hercules. Both men throw strong punches and kicks. Hercules, though, is willing to go a little cheap, kicking Neidhart between the legs. This brings The Anvil down to the mat and Hercules locks in a Full Nelson. He brings The Anvil down to the mat and continues with the hold for the next full minute before he releases and then grabs his chain from a corner. He wraps it around his fist and gives a punch to Backlund and then several to Neidhart. He mounts Neidhart on the mat and gives him enough punches to bust him wide open! The crowd gasps at the sight of blood and Hercules gets up swinging the chain around as he feels victorious. Hercules picks up Neidhart and tosses him over the top rope to the floor. Jim Neidhart is eliminated! The Big Bossman comes flying down to the ring with his nightstick in hand. Hercules leans over to lift up Backlund but he gets caught in the knee with the nightstick! Bossman hits him again! And again! Bossman tosses the nightstick away, as well as Hercules' chain. The Bossman whips Hercules to the ropes -- Bossman Slam! The Big Bossman points toward elimination and picks up Hercules, putting him against the ropes, trying to eliminate him but the large tag team wrestler has other plans. He fires backward a couple of elbow shots to Bossman, getting back on his feet. Hercules hooks Bossman in a Bear Hug! The crowd boos, trying to show their support for Bossman or even Bob Backlund, who is lying on the mat, trying to breathe. Hercules is trying to squeeze the life out of Big Bossman with the Bear Hug. But as Roberts gets to ringside, instead of entering the ring, he sends the snake in! The people in the ring scatter, going through the ropes to get outside the ring. They all went through the ropes so no one is eliminated. Well, all of them except for Bob Backlund, who doesn't seem to know his whereabouts right now. Jake Roberts enters the ring and brings the snake back into the bag. The ring is slowly filled up once more and things shift into a double team by Big Bossman and Jake Roberts on Hercules. Roberts makes the signal for the DDT. He hooks Hercules but Hercules hooks the ropes so that the Snake lands on the mat himself. Hercules puts the boots to Roberts. Bossman stands back for a moment, surveying the landscape. Bossman sees Bob Backlund trying to get to his feet, using the ropes for leverage. Bossman comes over and shoves Backlund into a corner, throwing a few punches to Backlund. This is every man for himself, right? The crowd cheers as Jannetty plays to them for a moment. Then he goes over to Bossman and grabs him by the arm, sending him to the ropes -- dropkick on Bossman! Jannetty grabs Backlund and tries to whip him across but Backlund falls to his knees as soon as Jannetty lets him go. Jannetty bounces off the ropes but gets caught on the rebound by Hercules and a swinging side slam! Jannetty is planted! Hercules turns his attention to Big Bossman and the two exchange punches again! Roma is definitely happy to see his partner in control in this match. Roma strikes a pose and then turns to his partner, giving instructions. Hercules grabs Bob Backlund and sets him up on the turnbuckle. Hercules climbs up and hooks the Superplex on Bob Backlund. He drops backward with a perfect Superplex! But just as he does that, Big Bossman leaps into the ropes, crotching Paul Roma on the top turnbuckle! Big Bossman goes over and climbs up, battling with Paul Roma for a moment before sending him down to the floor! Paul Roma has been eliminated! Bossman drops back down into the ring and surveys the landscape. Bob Backlund is down and out in the middle of the ring. Hercules is doing battle with Jake Roberts and Marty Jannetty. Big Bossman takes a moment to rest in a corner. Hercules shoves Jannetty to the mat but Roberts hits him with a short-arm clothesline to bring him right down beside Jannetty. That man is Haku. Heenan yells to Haku to go after Backlund! Haku enters the ring and is immediately assaulted by Big Bossman! Bossman definitely still wants some revenge against The Heenan Family. He doesn't care which member feels his wrath. Haku fires back with a headbutt and then a crescent kick sends Bossman to the mat. Haku picks up the near life-less body of Bob Backlund and moves to the ropes. A little bit of life appears in Backlund as he gives a struggle, trying to fight so he is not eliminated. But Haku sends Backlund over the top rope and his feet hit the floor. After a valiant effort, Bob Backlund is eliminated! This leaves Hercules, Big Bossman, Jake Roberts, Marty Jannetty and Haku left in the ring at this moment. We have had 25 entrants so far. Jake Roberts and Hercules are brawling in one corner, Big Bossman goes back after Haku. Bossman tries some body shots on Haku, instead of the head shots and he gets more traction there. Heenan, on commentary, yells at Haku not to let that big dummy beat him! He says that we need help in the ring! Haku hits a crescent kick at the same time that The Barbarian hits a front kick and Bossman goes down to the mat. On the other side, Hercules is trying to eliminate Jake Roberts. Roberts is up on the top rope and so very close to being eliminated. Marty Jannetty eyes the situation for a moment, trying to determine what to do. He finally strikes Hercules with a forearm to the back that Hercules shrugs off. A dropkick by Jannetty gives more force but sends Roberts down to the apron. Roberts sneaks back inside as Hercules leans on that top rope. Roberts and Jannetty move in quickly to work on eliminating Hercules! The struggle is difficult but Hercules is not budging. Immediately, he goes over to help Jake Roberts and Marty Jannetty. Between the three men, they manage to get Hercules up and over the top rope and his feet hit the floor. Hercules is eliminated! With Hercules eliminated, that leaves Big Bossman, Jake Roberts, Marty Jannetty, Haku, The Barbarian and Hulk Hogan! Hogan comes over to save Bossman from the double team by The Barbarian and Haku. Hogan grabs The Barbarian and slams him to the mat! He bounces off the ropes -- Atomic Legdrop on The Barbarian! But there are no pinfalls here, Hulk! Haku moves from Bossman to Marty Jannetty, hitting the Rocker with a headbutt and then a standing falling headbutt to the chest with Jannetty on the mat. Haku picks up Jannetty and brings him to the ropes. Haku manages to press slam Marty Jannetty over the top rope and right up against the guardrail! Marty Jannetty has been eliminated! Haku turns, coming face-to-face with Jake Roberts. Haku sends the Snake to the ropes and catches him with a samoan drop! Haku stands and plays to the crowd, gathering boos from this audience at Shea Stadium. Savage jumps up on the apron and climbs the turnbuckle, hitting Big Bossman with a flying double axehandle! Hulk Hogan and The Barbarian fight in a far corner as Savage grabs Jake Roberts from the mat. He brings Roberts down with a scoop slam and then lifts him up, heading over to the ropes. Savage attempts to eliminate Roberts from the match but Roberts holds on to the top rope. The battle moves a little closely to the corner where The Barbarian is battling Hulk Hogan. Hogan gets an advantage and sees the opportunity. Hulk Hogan grabs Randy Savage and tries to eliminate him and Jake Roberts. But only Roberts hits the floor. Jake Roberts has been eliminated! Savage landed on the apron and he slides back into the ring. Hogan turns his attention back to The Barbarian and gets punched for his troubles. The Barbarian holds Hogan back and Savage begins throwing punches to the Immortal One. Savage and The Barbarian make an attempt to eliminate Hulk Hogan! Big Bossman steps in and saves Hogan with a rake of the face of Savage! Haku moves in behind Bossman and grabs his arms, opening him up to some shots by both Savage and The Barbarian, who releases Hogan for now. The Big Bossman goes to his knees when he is released by Haku. Bossman and Hogan are both down together while Haku, The Barbarian and Randy Savage stand tall. Then Randy Savage surprises everyone when he turns on Haku! Randy Savage grabs Haku by the back of the head and flings him over the top rope to the floor! Haku is eliminated! Instead, Bossman throws a punch and sends the money scattering to the four winds! Randy Savage and The Barbarian double-team Hulk Hogan in one corner, though The Barbarian now knows he cannot trust Savage. Bossman throws some punches to The Million Dollar Man and then sends him to the ropes -- Bossman Slam! The Big Bossman plays to the crowd, wanting them to cheer and get louder for him. With The Million Dollar Man down, Bossman goes over and attacks The Barbarian. He throws kicks to the larger man and brings him away from that corner. The Bossman body slams The Barbarian to the mat and drops an elbow. Mr. Perfect gets free from The Barbarian and enters the ring, immediately doing battle with The Big Bossman, his opponent from earlier tonight. We are down to our final five men in the ring: Big Bossman, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, The Million Dollar Man and Mr. Perfect. Perfect catches Bossman with a snap mare and then a rolling neck snap. Savage moves away from Hogan for a moment and talks with The Million Dollar Man. They seem to be making some sort of arrangement. Savage walks alongside The Million Dollar Man toward Hulk Hogan. Randy Savage grabs The Million Dollar Man suddenly and tosses him over the top rope to the floor! The Million Dollar Man is eliminated! This is truly every man for himself.] [We are left with a final four of Hulk Hogan and Big Bossman on one side of the ring and Randy Savage and Mr. Perfect on the other side of the ring. The two sides meet in the middle with Savage going after Hogan and Perfect going after Bossman! Hogan and Bossman turn the tide after just a few punches and they each move their opponent up in a corner. They climb up and begin raining punches down on their opponents. Hogan gets to ten with Savage but Mr. Perfect begins to squirm at eight and he shifts out from underneath Big Bossman and pushes him off the turnbuckle to the floor below. Big Bossman is eliminated! We are down to our final three. Mr. Perfect stands back, watching the fight between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. Hogan whips Savage across the ring and follows in with a big splash in the corner! Savage staggers out and before Hogan can attack Savage again, Mr. Perfect goes after Hogan! Perfect strikes the knee of Hogan and then hooks a front facelock. Perfect yells 'Now, it's time for a Perfect-Plex!' Perfect hooks the leg and delivers on the Perfect-Plex. But there are no pinfalls in a Royal Rumble! Perfect releases and moves just in time as Savage comes flying off the top turnbuckle with an elbow drop that connects with Hogan! The Macho King pops to his feet and is grabbed by Perfect! Perfect rushes him to the ropes but Savage reverses when they get to the ropes, throwing Perfect over the top rope! Mr. Perfect lands on the apron, safe from being eliminated at the moment and catches his breath. Randy Savage picks up Hulk Hogan and whips him to the ropes -- Hogan and Perfect collide, sending Perfect from the apron to the floor! Mr. Perfect has been eliminated!] [And then there were two! The last two men left in the Royal Rumble match are Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan! Savage immediately attacks Hogan with a double sledge. Hogan is wobbly on his feet and Savage senses that this is his time. He grabs Hogan by the ropes and begins working to send him over the top rope. Hogan struggles in the grip. The man known as The immortal One refuses to go over the top rope! He is doing everything he can to stop this pull. Finally, he manages to land some straight right hands, knocking Savage backward and landing on his feet. Hogan bounces off the ropes -- double clothesline! Both men connect with clotheslines and both men are laying on the mat, breathing heavy. There is no ten count here. Just ask Bob Backlund. Savage is the first man to stir. He grabs the ropes and yanks himself up slowly to his feet. He sees the moment as Hogan is laying on the mat. Savage slips outside the ring and climbs the turnbuckle. The 'Hogan' chants in the arena are deafening! Savage gets set on the turnbuckle and raises his arms straight up. He leaps from the turnbuckle -- Flying Elbow Dr -- MISSES! Hogan rolled out of the way and Savage catches only the mat! Hogan raises to his knees, feeling the power of the Hulkamaniacs in this crowd tonight! Hogan climbs to his feet, turning toward Savage and pointing at him as Savage pulls himself up. Savage moves in and Hogan blocks a punch, countering with a punch! Another punch! Another punch! Thanks for the comment. It took me a very long time to get the actual Royal Rumble match written up. It is my first Royal Rumble match that I have written, I think. And I definitely feel very proud of the writing. Hope that comes out and shows to the reader. Bob Backlund was definitely the iron man of the match. I had that planned out from the very beginning of the diary/planning stages. I do have some future plans for Mr. Backlund, so he's definitely not just a one and done character. The opening match of this first episode of Saturday Night following the shocking events of Clash Of The Champions XIV was a superb encounter that saw veteran take on rookie in a bout closer than many expected.
Dustin Rhodes vs Arn Anderson
on paper looked like a certain victory for “The Enforcer”, but Dustin has his father's fire and that alone was enough to give him a chance against Anderson, not even taking into account his strong wrestling ability. Anyone expecting yet more Horsemen interference was disappointed when Dusty Rhodes and referee Nick Patrick sent Barry Windham to the back before the match started and this one was about as fair as a match featuring a Horseman can come. Dustin got a couple of two counts on Anderson, but eventually ran into a
Spinebuster
which presented Anderson with a victory at 7:29 that was much more difficult than many expected.

The action headed backstage for the first time this evening where WCW newcomer
“Stunning” Steve Austin
was stood with

. Austin is well known in the Tennessee area – a regular spot for WCW television – thanks to his work in the USWA, although this might be the first time the man from Victoria, TX has wrestled in front of such a big crowd in his home state. Austin didn't seem phased by this new environment, however, and the arrogant youngster said that he was coming to World Championship Wrestling to show the wrestling world how things should be done. Austin said that it was about time the business was...stunned...into change and as the most stunning competitor in the United States he'd elected himself as the man to do it. Austin then revealed that he had even received his first booking – a match against Dustin Rhodes on next week's show! Austin laughed, and said that if Dustin was to have any chance against “Stunning” Steve then he'd need to do a better job than he just did against an old man like Arn Anderson!

The Renegade Warriors vs The Fabulous Freebirds
was the second match of this episode of Saturday Night and it was a short, one-sided, but impressive victory for the Freebirds. Reasonably entertaining despite its uneven nature, the Freebirds continued their momentum from the Clash into this match by getting off to a very quick start and Jimmy Garvin almost had the victory in the opening minute. In the end it took until 5:09 for Hayes to put away Mark Youngblood with a
Bulldog
, bringing to a close a match that few expected to go a different way.

The third match of the night was a relatively entertaining encounter between one-half of the WCW World Tag Team champions and a man who defeated Larry Zbyszko at the Clash Of The Champions. On paper,
Junkyard Dog vs Ron Simmons
should perhaps have been a little better than it turned out to be, but then it never really had the time to get going. A fairly even bout between two powerhouses was brought to a close after just five minutes when the aforementioned “Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko once again interrupted a JYD match. This time, however, he didn't attack, and he simply stood at the end of the raised walkway. The distraction was enough to bring JYD outside, however, and he began walking down the aisle...only to get clobbered from behind by Simmons! However, as Simmons and JYD brawled on the outside the referee began his count. With the raised walkway almost extending the ring outwards, Simmons was able to clothesline JYD back into the ring – a foolish mistake, as it meant JYD was sent into the squared circle just as the referee's count reached 10 and somehow, someway, the JYD was declared the victor at 5:55.

went over to fetch a microphone. JYD reminded Zbyszko and the fans that he had won the match at Clash Of The Champions, and as far as he was concerned that should have been that. The Dog went on to accept that Larry Zbyszko wasn't done with him, and the JYD was never one to back down from a fight. JYD said that if Larry Zbyszko wanted a rematch he could have one...at WrestleWar 1991...in a Dog Collar match! Larry didn't look too happy about it, but perhaps realised that it was the only way he was going to get to Junkyard grabbed a microphone of his own...and accepted!

Magnum TA, Harley Race
revealed that he was in negotiations to sign Big Van Vader as his first client as a manager! Race revealed that he had been thinking things over, and while he couldn't hang up his boots forever, he realised that at this stage in his career he would be better suited as a mentor outside of the squared circle. Race then said that Vader had impressed him over recent weeks with his ruthless aggression and supreme ability, before suggesting that with Race's brains and Vader's brawn that the two could go straight to the top of World Championship Wrestling and perhaps a match with WCW World Heavyweight champion Sting could be closer than people realise!

Suggesting that the match originally scheduled for Clash Of The Champions was going to be one heck of a fight, Lex Luger said that he hoped Stan Hansen and Dan Spivey weren't suffering from jet lag [the two heels had missed the Clash due to a booking in Japan] because they'd need every ounce of their wrestling ability if they were going to face the “Total Package” and the big man from Argentina! As usual, El Gigante said little, slapping Lex Luger on the back in apparent agreement instead!

It should have been on the Clash, and
El Gigante & Lex Luger vs Stan Hansen & Dan Spivey
was definitely pay-per-view worthy. An excellent tag match, both teams are known for their power-heavy offence and that made for a great mesh of styles. Stan Hansen wanted Lex Luger, but El Gigante started off the match in fine form and it was only a double-team from the heels that put the big man down. Once Lex Luger was in the ring the tables turned again and it looked like being a victory for the “Total Package” until the referee was knocked down after being sandwiched between Luger and the turnbuckle. Hansen and Spivey took advantage of the official-free ring to break every rule they could think of. “Dangerous” Dan showed just how dangerous he can be by using Hansen's bullwhip to choke El Gigante. However, just when things were looking bad for the big Argentinian he fought back, reached his feet and locked in the
Clawhold
! As the referee came around Luger and Hansen were brawling on the outside while Spivey was tapping out frantically to the big man's submission finisher!

Following the semi-main event, “Nature Boy”
Ric Flair
made his way down to the ring to address the crowd about his defeat to Sting at the Clash Of The Champions earlier in the week. Flair said that Sting was lucky to have left the show under his own steam, let alone as the WCW World Heavyweight champion. Unsurprisingly, given Flair's declaration of superiority,
Sting
was soon making his way to the ring and suggested that Flair's defeat at the Clash and at Starrcade should make even the “Nature Boy” realise that he just wasn't at Sting's level. Flair demanded a rematch from Sting, but another entrance theme interrupted the duo before the challenge could be answered...

The man who had attacked Sting at the end of the Clash made his first appearance on WCW Saturday Night in a long, long time and proceeded to explain to Sting, Flair and the audience that he was the man that should rightfully get a shot at Sting, and then the real WCW World Heavyweight champion would be crowned!

Dusty Rhodes
arrived just in time to stop the three men from exploding into a brawl, and said that as far as he was concerned (if you will), Rick Rude hadn't earned anything in World Championship Wrestling and Ric Flair had used up more lives as title shots than anyone deserved. Dusty said that with a WarGames match [the first in almost two years] set to headline the next pay-per-view event, WrestleWar 1991, he was in no rush to choose between Flair and Rude for challengers, and instead said that next week the three men would get a chance to settle their differences in the ring – next week's main event would be Ric Flair & Rick Rude vs Sting & Lex Luger! Dusty also revealed that he would be providing more information about that big main event for WrestleWar on next week's show!

The main event was a very entertaining match, although it lacked the heat of the previous tag match.
Rick Rude vs Tommy Rich
was Rude's in-ring return to World Championship Wrestling – in fact, the last time Rude appeared on TBS the company was still called Jim Crockett Promotions – and it was obvious from the word go that he was in no mood to risk defeat, and he went at Tommy Rich like a man possessed. Rich, however, fought valiantly and while Rude was the better man in this match, it still took him until 16:02 to get the victory, thanks largely to Rich's unbelievable heart that saved him from many a near fall. In the end a
Rude Awakening
proved too much for Rich, and the three count duly followed.

– a man who supposedly lost his WCW contract on last week's Clash Of The Champions - confidently made his way down to the ring. Once there, Paul E embraced
Rick Rude
, before a grabbing a microphone! Dangerously revealed that it was he who had brought Rick Rude back to World Championship Wrestling, and that it was he who had orchestrated his return at the Clash. Paul E revealed that he had signed a contract with Rick Rude to act as a manager and mentor, and he had signed that deal before Clash Of The Champions, but after the Challenge Series with Missy Hyatt was signed! Therefore, said Paul E, while he was no longer a member of the commentary team, the competition only voided that part of his contract and would not stop him from managing clients in the company! Tony Schiavone on commentary suggested that the WCW legal department should be looking into Dangerously's dealings in time for next weeks show, but in the meantime it appears that he has not only avoided being fired – but he might be in a stronger position than ever thanks to his new, dangerous alliance with one “Ravishing” Rick Rude!

Showing the victory of Sting over Flair, Rick Rude's shocking appearance, and Missy Hyatt's Challenge Series win, as well as the various other matches and moments from the event, the vignette served as a good reminder to fans who had seen the event, and a decent enough primer for those who missed it, as WCW continued its march towards WrestleWar 91!

Eaton, however, seemed unsure, leaving York no choice but to give the former Midnight Express man an ultimatum – make a decision by next week's show because either Bobby is on the team or he is in the way!

While Dr X may be a dangerous competitor, having come out of a match with “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson fairly unscathed, “Z-Man” Tom Zenk must have been fairly confident heading into the second match of the night. As it was,

title was more closely fought than expected, and the masked man almost came away with the title. As it was, a ducked clothesline and a

follow up was enough to ensure that Z-Man left the building as champion.

For the second time in a month, the mammoth monstrosity
Vader
was supposed to have a match on Main Event but it was cancelled because he'd destroyed his opponent before the bell. The unlucky individual this week was one-half of the Young Pistols,
Tracy Smothers
, and before the referee had finished checking Smothers' boots Vader had struck him with a huge right hand, and then the Vader Bomb. The fun police rushed down to ringside to ensure that no further damage could be done, but it was clear immediately that no match was going to take place.

The magic of television once again saw the roster of WCW in two places at once as we headed into the semi-main event of the evening. As they made their way to the ring for their first match with the company,
The Destruction Crew
were simultaneously cutting a promo about their bout against The State Patrol. The Destruction Crew said that World Championship Wrestling was the place to be for professional wrestling, and in particular for tag team wrestling. Wayne Bloom said that it was time to rebuild professional wrestling in a new image, and to rebuild sometimes you needed to knock things down. Mike Enos said that The State Patrol would be the first destruction on the Crew's path to the title!

The Destruction Crew vs The State Patrol
was a great introduction for the team from Minnesota as they took on a well-regarded team in the form of Sgt Buddy Lee Parker and Lt James Earl Wright. Enos and Bloom looked the part in this contest, teaming very well against a well-drilled team and while their promos are a little misleading, in the ring the pair were definitely babyfaces. Wayne Bloom ensured the Destruction Crew got their debut victory after a
Wrecking Ball
on Parker at 7:14.

After a decent tag match it was straight onto the main event,
Dan Spivey vs Big Josh
, which was a very entertaining encounter between two of the big men in WCW. Big Josh has had some success in 1990, but having suffered defeat at the hands of Kevin Sullivan earlier in the month looked a little edgy. “Dangerous” Dan Spivey, on the other hand, looked very comfortable throughout and with Stan Hansen at ringside seemed to have a new confidence in himself. That confidence paid off at 7:24 when a missed clothesline from Josh ended in a roll-up, complete with a handful of tights, and a victory for Spivey.

With his new ally victorious,
Stan Hansen
took a moment to warn Lex Luger – their feud was not over and while Luger and El Gigante got the victory on Saturday Night, the “Bad Man” and “Dangerous” Dan were far from through when it came to the “Total Package” and the WCW United States title!

-Of course the most talked about moment from Sunday night's Royal Rumble was the ending of the Rumble match itself - did Hulk Hogan or Randy Savage earn the chance to face the WWF Champion at Wrestlemania? The ever-controversial talk show segment will open the show and with Jack Tunney scheduled to be the guest expect a big announcement one way or another.

-The other big change at the Royal Rumble was Sgt Slaughter's victory over WWF Champion The Ultimate Warrior thanks to the assistance of a returning Iron Sheik. Slaughter is set to have a victory celebration at some point during Prime Time Wrestling, but these things never go too smoothly...

-Amidst the excitement of victory celebrations and Piper's Pit there will, of course, be some top wrestling action as well, with WWF World Tag Team champions The Hart Foundation set to put their belts on the line against Power & Glory just a day after defending the titles against The Nasty Boyz. Will it be too much in such a short space of time for the Hart Foundation?

-Elsewhere Dino Bravo takes on Royal Rumble "iron man" Bob Backlund and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase takes on the Texas Tornado. Rick "The Model" Martel will be looking to make a name for himself at the expense of Ricky Steamboat, while Captain Lou Albano unveils his mystery tag team against The Executioners.

-World Championship Wrestling heads into a new month at the most exciting time! Make sure you don't miss all the wrestling action on Saturday Night and Main Event as WCW heads towards the mayhem that will be WrestleWar 1991!

-Rick Rude's return to WCW at the Clash Of The Champions was certainly a momentous moment and he has made no bones about his aim having joined the company - to take the WCW World Heavyweight title from Sting. Rude isn't alone in that goal, but perhaps one other competitor has an equally good claim to that position and that is "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. The two team up tonight against Sting and Lex Luger but will they triumph over the World champion? Or will the animosity between Flair and Rude be too much to handle!?

-Rick Rude isn't the only person new to WCW, as "Stunning" Steve Austin makes his in-ring debut having signed from Tennessee just one week ago. Austin was confident in his debut interview with Gordon Solie, but will he have enough wrestling ability to back up his claim and defeat the second-generation star Dustin Rhodes?

-Tommy Rich put up a great fight against Rick Rude on last week's show, but didn't quite hit the mark. He has the chance to bounce back straight away, but with a second-generation star, and one-quarter of the Four Horsemen, in Barry Windham as an opponent it might not be the easy return victory Rich hoped for!

-Teddy Long and his clients, Ron Simmons and Butch Reed recently claimed that they had "run out" of challengers for their WCW World Tag Team titles. However unlikely that seems, Long and the champions are set to make an open challenge this Saturday Night - who will answer the call?

-Elsewhere on the show, Dusty Rhodes is set to make a big announcement regarding the main event match at WrestleWar 1991, El Gigante is expected to answer questions from Missy Hyatt and Big Josh takes on The Minotaur.

I just wanted to say that I have just realised that I forgot to include fan signs in the last two show writeups. I do read all predictions, but tend to write the shows up long before they appear so it's easier to forget to add them in to the text than it is to remember!
