I like the way that both WCW and WWF are headed, and I really hope you guys can keep this going and that real life/loss of motivation don't get in the way.</p>

Thanks RKO.

Echoing what angeldelayette has already said, both of us are really enjoying this two-player game and it's great to see that others are enjoying the diary too. We've both got plans for our respective promotions going forward (I'm planning on destroying the WWF, and angel is planning on keeping the WWF above water :p ), so we would both hope this is going to be here for the long run.

In terms of the WCW show - I'm hoping to post tomorrow as usual, but I may have to delay until Friday if I run out of time. Either way, it should definitely all be up, with the predictions for the next show, before the weekend.

jhd1 and I have decided to split the prediction contests into two, so there will be two eligible prizes at the end: one for WWF and one for WCW. The prediction contests will run from our first shows until the end of March in the game. The prizes have yet to be determined for either side. A single win is given each time a person scores the most predictions right in a given show. The most wins at the end of March is declared the winner in each category.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

World Wrestling Federation

-The World Wrestling Federation is airing live from the Nassau Coliseum this week as we enter March, the month of Wrestlemania! With most tickets sold out at this 17,000 capacity stadium, Prime Time Wrestling is sure to be an action-packed event for the WWF!

-This week's main event is a fitting way to decide the challenger for the WWF Intercontinental Championship belt come Wrestlemania. Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat will go one-on-one in a two out of three falls match, with the winner getting a shot at the title on the grandest stage of them all. The two men met at Wrestlemania III in one of the greatest matches of all time. Will Randy Savage get his revenge, or will Steamboat triumph once again?

-But will Mr Perfect still be champion come Wrestlemania? First he'll have to get past Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, himself a former Intercontinental champion, live from the Nassau Coliseum and the title WILL be on the line. Whoever wins this bout is sure to be in for a tough March knowing that either Ricky Steamboat or Randy Savage awaits them at Wrestlemania!

-Hulk Hogan and Sgt Slaughter will come face-to-face this week in an interview setting. Described as a debate by WWF officials, with such heated tension between the two sides, it doesn't seem likely that this is going to stay verbal for long!

-Meanwhile, Kerry Von Erich continues his quest to find himself as he journeys through Texas, there will be a Persian Club Challenge between The Iron Sheik and Bob Backlund, and there will be appearances from Sherri Martel, Bobby Heenan, Big Bossman, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and much, much more!

Fun Fan Signs:

World Championship Wrestling

-World Championship Wrestling heads to Myrtle Beach for another edition of top quality wrestling action with WCW Saturday Night, and WCW Main Event as the road to March's Supercard begins!

-After last week's announcement by Dusty Rhodes, the main event of Saturday Night will see an innovative, four-way elimination "battle royal" match. However, unlike many battle royal style matches, this one will not feature over-the-top-rope eliminations, but pinfalls and submissions only. The four men, Lex Luger, El Gigante, Dan Spivey and Stan Hansen, will compete for Luger's United States title. With the odds stacked against him, will the "Total Package" have enough to retain his title?

-Nikita Koloff's return to WCW couldn't have come at a worse time for the likes of Sting and his allies, but that hasn't stopped "Flyin" Brian Pillman from requesting a singles match with the big Russian. Pillman has already shown he can go toe-to-toe with some of the biggest names in WCW - figuratively and literally - but will the monster Koloff be a step too far?

-Dusty Rhodes is really hitting his stride as WCW Executive, and the "American Dream" has promised a huge match announcement will be made on Saturday Night regarding one of two headline matches at this month's Supercard. With Rick Rude vs Sting for the WCW World Heavyweight title already made, Rhodes must have something big up his sleeve to warrant an announcement on Saturday Night!

-Elsewhere on the show, Bobby Eaton will take on one of the Fabulous Freebirds in Michael PS Hayes, The Steiner Brothers take on The Royal Family and the Four Horsemen will respond to rumours that they have already replaced Sid Vicious in the Four Horsemen! More surprises are ahead and on tap for WCW Saturday Night as well! Make sure you are tuned in at 6:05 PM EST!

WWF PRIME TIME WRESTLING

Monday Week 1 March 1991

Location: Nassau Coliseum (Tri State)

Attendance: 17,686

Overall Rating: B

TV Rating: 1.91

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/GorillaMonsoon.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/NikolaiVolkoff.jpg

[WWF Prime Time Wrestling opens this week in the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York for some live wrestling action! This week Gorilla Monsoon is joined by former Russian turned American patriot Nikolai Volkoff. They welcome everyone to the show and then talk about being on the Road To WrestleMania, which will occur at the very end of this month. Monsoon brings up the fact that the main event for WrestleMania will see Hulk Hogan challenge Sgt. Slaughter for the WWF World Heavyweight title. Volkoff says he will have a front-row seat to that matchup to watch the U.S.A. win the night. Monsoon says that Slaughter can be a very tough opponent, though. But he will definitely be rooting for the Hulkster. Then they turn the focus to tonight where we will see a two out of three falls matchup between Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage to determine the top contender to the Intercontinental title. Volkoff says he has faced both of these men in the ring and it should be a great contest. A prediction is cut off by theme music playing in the background.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/MartyJannetty0.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/ShawnMichaels0.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/Beulah.jpg

[The top contenders to the WWF World Tag Team titles The Rockers approach the ring with Beulah in their corner. Shawn Michaels takes the microphone and welcomes everyone to Uniondale, New York! He says that they could not wait to come out to the ring this evening and declare that you are looking at the next WWF World Tag Team Champions! He talks about the fact that WrestleMania is at the end of this month. He says that Power & Glory better shine those belts up real nice and smooth because they are coming to the team that rocks your house every single night. Marty Jannetty catches a microphone toss and says that with their good luck charm right here how can they lose? He gives Beulah a kiss and before he can say anything else they are interrupted by the music of the WWF Word Tag Team Champions.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/Slick.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/PaulRomaPOP.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WWF_BR/HerculesPOP.jpg

[Slick brings Power & Glory down to the ring. Hercules looks way down to Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty. He laughs for just a moment while Paul Roma has the microphone. Roma tells them to have a good look at the team that they are going to be facing at WrestleMania. He asks them if they really think that they can get past the Power AND the Glory? He says that there is no way that they even get past the power and he will prove it tonight. He says that they will have one on one matches this week and next week. This week someone faces Hercules, next week the other faces himself, The Glory, Paul Roma. Shawn Michaels is quick to accept the challenge so Roma says that tonight it will be Hercules versus Shawn Michaels. Hercules vs. Shawn Michaels

[shawn Michaels goes right after Hercules, using a hit and run tactic against the larger man in the early minutes. Hercules begins to get frustrated with the tactic and goes right for Michaels but he takes a clothesline that sends him over the top rope to the floor. Michaels plays to the crowd for a moment before he climbs the turnbuckles. He leaps and catches Hercules with a double axehandle! He rolls back into the ring and waits for Hercules to join him. Michaels pushes Hercules into a corner and begins chopping at his chest. He whips Hercules across -- reversed! Michaels flips up and then down in the corner, staggering toward Hercules. Hercules picks him up and drops him in a backbreaker. The crowd is definitely behind Michaels even as Hercules uses several power moves to keep Michaels on the ground. In the closing moments, Michaels avoids a clothesline by Hercules but gets tripped up by Paul Roma as he bounces off the ropes. Marty Jannetty comes around and begins battling with Roma as Hercules grabs the distracted Michaels in the ring -- Backbreaker Rack! Slicks smiles at ringside, saying to turn out the lights the party's over. His words are prophetic as Michaels has no choice but to submit.]

Winner: Hercules (Via Submission @ 8:19)

Match Rating: C+

[Outside the ring, Marty Jannetty sends Paul Roma into a ring post. He looks inside the ring and sees his partner on the shoulders of Hercules. Jannetty leaps onto the apron and then climbs the turnbuckles. He waits for Hercules to turn toward him and then leaps, catching Hercules with a double axehandle! Shawn Michaels falls to the mat and Hercules trips over the fallen Rocker. Jannetty quickly grabs his partner and pulls him out of the ring to safety. Beulah steps in to help them bring Michaels to the backstage area. Roma steps in and holds Hercules back from attacking the three of them, instead they just watch from the ring.]

[speaking of large men, the attention turns to a video of someone making his way to the World Wrestling Federation. The theme to Psycho plays in the background of a dark and stormy night. The camera moves along a wooded area following someone that cannot quite be made out. A scream is heard and the thumping of a body hitting the ground. The camera turns and hits a close-up of the face of Sid Vicious. Vicious has a large smile as he laughs and laughs and laughs. Sid Vicious is coming soon to the World Wrestling Federation! The camera fades out back to the ring.]

The Iron Sheik vs. Al Burke

[inside the ring, we see the former WWF World Heavyweight Champion The Iron Sheik as he looks across the ring to his opponent: Al Burke. It should come as no surprise that Burke stands absolutely no chance in this match. He does not even get any offense in during the match as The Iron Sheik is dominant. Sheik brings Burke down with a belly to belly suplex and then plays to a booing crowd. Sheik catches Burke with the two handed chokeslam that is known as the Iranian Drop and then goes right in, hooking Burke with a Camel Clutch. Within moments, Burke has to submit, ending the contest in less than seven minutes.]

[We move from the ring to the backstage area where Gene Okerlund is standing by with Hulk Hogan. Okerlund talks about the face-to-face tonight with Sgt. Slaughter. Hogan says that there is a lot he has to say, brother, but he is going to say it face-to-face with Sgt. Slaughter tonight. Right here in Uniondale New York with all his New York Hulkamaniacs backing him up he is going to feed off their strength and the energy of Hulkamania. He says that at WrestleMania in several weeks he is going to prove the dominance of Hulkamania and the strength of the United States over any of their enemies. Okerlund intercepts to speak about later on tonight when Hogan faces the team of Haku and The Barbarian. Hogan says that the match tonight is going to be rough but it is just a ploy to get him weakened for WrestleMania VII. However, Haku and The Barbarian are going to feel the power of Hulkamania tonight. Whatcha gonna do, Sgt. Slaughter, Haku and The Barbarian, when the power of Hulkamania and the power of the United States military runs wild over you!?!?!]

[We cut to a deep dark corner of the backstage area. It is here that Sensational Queen Sherri and Bobby Heenan are seen very animated as they talk to one another. The words cannot be picked up by the camera but Heenan is waving his arms and so is the Queen. Within a few minutes, Heenan notices the camera, shakes his head and walks off. The Queen looks very angrily at the camera before she, also, walks away but in the opposite direction of Heenan.]

[We go to part two of a special video documentary done by Kerry Von Erich in the great state of Texas. This one begins inside a fairly large arena. The arena is empty except for Von Erich, who is seated on a chair in the middle of the ring. Von Erich explains that this is the Dallas Sportatorium. He says that this is an arena that he and his family have fought many matches in. This could almost be considered his family's home away from home. He says that he can remember many nights as he was growing up, watching his father wrestle in this very ring. He says that this is the location where he became the Modern Day Warrior. This is the location where his family became famous. This is also the location that took some family members away from him. Men like his brother, 'The Yellow Rose Of Texas' David Von Erich. Kerry takes in a deep breath and we fade to black with 'To Be Continued...' written across the screen.]

The Brooklyn Brawler vs. Big Bossman

[After that somber moment, we move back to the ring where The Brooklyn Brawler is waiting inside and Big Bossman comes out to cheers from the crowd. The match is definitely focused on the side of Bossman and lasts less than six minutes. Bossman uses moves like a spinebuster and a body avalanche in the corner. Bossman chokes Brawler on the middle rope and then bounces off the ropes and slides to the outside. He nails Brawler with an uppercut and plays briefly to the crowd. Bossman slips back in the ring and sends Brawler to the ropes -- Bossman Slam! Brawler hits the mat and Bossman makes a cover: One, Two, Three!]

[We cut from the ring to the backstage area where Greg Valentine is shown...walking! Valentine turns the corner and gets assaulted from behind! The attacker is shown to be Mr. Perfect, Valentine's opponent later tonight. Perfect continues the assault but suddenly takes a back elbow smash from Valentine. Perfect is knocked backward and Valentine turns, grabbing Perfect and hitting him with elbow smash after elbow smash! Perfect struggles just to cover up. Perfect manages to push Valentine away and then staggers back up the hallway, getting away from the return assault by Valentine. But these two men will see battle one on one later tonight.]

[We move from the backstage area to the ring where Gene Okerlund introduces the Persian Club Challenge. The Iron Sheik stands in one corner and Bob Backlund stands in the other corner. Okerlund explains that the winner will be the person who can do the most repetitions with the Persian clubs. In order to show us exactly how it is done, Sheik begins first. He stands in the middle of the ring and Okerlund counts out the reps. The number gets up to 50 before The Iron Sheik has to stop. He spits at Backlund, telling him to beat that. Backlund maintains his composure and then moves to the center of the ring. He begins his reps with Okerlund counting things out. When he gets to 44, Sheik strikes him in the gut with a Persian club! The crowd boos as Backlund is doubled over. Sheik takes Backlund down in a suplex and then hooks on the Camel Clutch! The crowd boos as Sheik stretches Backlund out just as he did years ago. After about two minutes, Sheik releases by slamming Backlund face-first into the mat. The Iron Sheik stands over Backlund for a moment and then exits the ring as officials come in to help Backlund to the back.]

WWF Intercontinental Title Match

Mr. Perfect defends vs. Greg Valentine

[A major title defense here on Prime Time Wrestling features the Intercontinental Champion Mr. Perfect defending the title against Greg The Hammer Valentine. The backstage fight from earlier was obvious as Perfect is sporting a shiner on his right eye. Valentine points to this early on, taunting Perfect and getting the Intercontinental Champion angry and off his game. Valentine takes advantage of this and scores a near fall early on in the match with a small package. Valentine sends Perfect into a corner and lights him up with knife-edge chops. Valentine takes down Perfect with a bionic elbow and then climbs to the second turnbuckle. He leaps with a pointed elbow drop but Perfect avoids the shot and Valentine strikes the mat with his elbow. Perfect quickly turns his focus on the arm of Valentine. Perfect moves Valentine into a corner and catches him with a snap mare and then a rolling neck snap. Perfect continues on this attack until he strikes Valentine with a swinging knee lift and then picks him up. He calls out that it's time for a Perfect Plex! He hooks Valentine and flips him over in the Perfect Plex: One, Two, Three! Another title defense for Mr. Perfect!]

[The fans of the World Wrestling Federation watch as we head to the backstage area where a brawl is going on between Jake Roberts and Rick Martel! Roberts gains the advantage by striking Martel with a short-arm clothesline. Roberts drags Martel by the back of his shirt and tosses him into a room, closing and locking the door. Martel looks through a window on the door and Roberts makes a motion for him to turn around. Inside that room with Martel is shown a King Cobra snake. Martel begins screaming violently, wildly. The camera shows Roberts outside the door with a devious smile on his lips. He begins laughing evilly as he leans against the door. Martel bangs on the door and is screaming wildly as we fade out from this area of backstage.]

The door is opened by Slaughter and he yells at Mooney to get away. Slaughter tells Mooney that he is busy, though Mooney tries to ask Slaughter about the debate tonight with Hulk Hogan. Slaughter tells Mooney that he will say what he has to say tonight at the debate. He tells Mooney that he is dismissed and then shuts the door. Mooney says that they will hear from Slaughter later on tonight. Then he sends us back to the ring.]

Handicap Match

Haku And The Barbarian vs. Hulk Hogan

[Our semi main event features a handicap match that was set up last week between two members of the Heenan Family Haku and The Barbarian against the top contender to the WWF World Heavyweight title Hulk Hogan. Hogan goes right after Haku and The Barbarian in the early going. He uses more of a punch-kick style of offense against the other two brawlers. A double team by Haku and The Barbarian is what turns the tide in the match and gives control to the two men. Tags in and out by Haku and The Barbarian give them the advantage over Hogan as he has no one to tag and take a breather. Haku takes down Hogan with a samoan drop and gains a two count. He quickly tags to The Barbarian and the two set up an aided power bomb on Hogan, driving him into the mat. The Barbarian makes the cover: One, Two, Kickout by Hogan! Hogan shakes his head and gets to his knees! He's Hulking Up, ladies and gentlemen! He no-sells the punches by The Barbarian and begins walking around the ring. He raises his eyes to meet The Barbarian's face and points as the crowd calls 'YOU!' Hogan blocks a punch and begins punching The Barbarian backward. He sends The Barbarian to the ropes but Hogan is caught with a steel chair from behind by Haku! The crowd boos as the referee calls for the bell.]

Winner Faces Mr. Perfect At WrestleMania For WWF Intercontinental Title

2 Out Of 3 Falls Match

Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat

[We are now at the time for our main event match that was set up last week by our WWF President The Million Dollar Man. Both men make their entrances and look across to one another as the bell sounds. These men know each other very well though they have some recent issues that they each have. Steamboat offers a handshake to begin the match and Savage accepts before the two men lock up for this WrestleMania III rematch. Though this match is two out of three falls, unlike the WrestleMania III match. A fan throws up a sign during the first lock up that reads: 'Best Rematch Ever!' The opening is back and forth between these two men with neither of them looking to make a mistake against the other. Steamboat shows his ability to hit arm drags in the early going, finishing with a dropkick that has Savage rolling out of the ring. Savage slams his hands on the mat angrily and with frustration. Savage rolls back in the ring and the match continues with neither man gaining a long advantage over the other. Around ten minutes into the match, Steamboat avoids a flying double axehandle. He sneaks in behind a stunned Savage and lifts him up in an elevated double chicken wing! Instead of getting worn down in the hold, Savage immediately submits. Ricky Steamboat goes up one fall to none!]

[Ricky Steamboat releases the hold on Randy Savage, dropping him to the mat. Steamboat remains in control for the next period of the match, putting Savage in an armbar and holding some definite rest-holds during the match. Steamboat pulls Savage to his feet and whips him to the ropes -- reversed by Savage. Savage strikes Steamboat with a sudden clothesline. He picks up Steamboat and throws him over the top rope but Steamboat holds on to the top rope. Savage plays to the crowd as Steamboat pulls himself back in over the top rope. Savage strikes Steamboat with a clothesline to the back of the head. Savage yanks Steamboat to his feet and strikes him with a running high knee. Savage quickly exits the ring and climbs the turnbuckles. He raises his arms up high and then leaps -- Flying Elbowdrop from the top turnbuckle! Savage connects! He makes the cover: One, Two, Three! Randy Savage picks up the second fall. This match is tied at one to one fifteen minutes into the match.]

[Randy Savage raises his arms high in the air, calling out his victory this evening. He heads out to the apron and climbs the turnbuckle, preparing for another flying elbow drop. He raises his arms up and then leaps from the top turnbuckle but Steamboat avoids a second Flying Elbowdrop as he rolls out of the way and Savage strikes the mat. Steamboat rolls back over and pulls Savage into a small package: One, Two, Kickout! The match continues with both men beginning to slow down as we reach the twenty minute mark. Steamboat manages to get Savage into a corner and strikes him with multiple chops before Savage turns it around and throws punches to Steamboat. The Macho King catches The Dragon with an atomic drop. He drops him with a scoop slam and then sets The Dragon up for a piledriver! This could definitely end the match. Savage lifts Steamboat up but Steamboat drops back down. Steamboat powers Savage over with a back body drop. Both men are on the mat, gasping for air. Steamboat crawls to a corner and slips out of the ring. He pulls himself to the top turnbuckle as Savage pulls himself to his feet. Steamboat leaps -- Diving Crossbody! Steamboat hooks the leg: One, Two, Three! Ricky Steamboat will be facing Mr. Perfect at WrestleMania for the WWF Intercontinental title!]

[After a commercial break, we move back to the ring where Gene Okerlund is set to host the debate tonight between Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter. Hogan comes out first with the crowd chanting 'USA USA.' He is showing the marks of pain from his handicap match earlier tonight. Sgt. Slaughter comes out but he is not alone. He has General Adnan by his side. The two men stand at a podium opposite Hogan. Okerlund says that the World Champion gets to decide who speaks first. He tells Hogan that he can go first. Hogan says that at WrestleMania, there will be an arena full of Hulkamaniacs. He says that they will all be chanting 'USA, USA, USA!' Just like the United States is taking care of business in Iraq, Hogan promises that he and all of his Hulkamaniacs will take care of business in the ring at WrestleMania VII. He asks Slaughter whatcha gonna do? Slaughter finally tells Hogan to shut his mouth! He says that Private Hogan is just a lower person on the totem pole here in the World Wrestling Federation. He says that if Hogan were in his military he would already be thrown out for being not quite good enough. He says that he can prove it tonight. But he is definitely going to prove it at WrestleMania VII when he rolls over Hogan like a tank. But he is not alone. As a matter of fact, tonight, he has brought a couple of his friends with him.]

[The Iron Sheik and Boris Zhukov come walking out to the ring as General Adnan yells at Hogan in what would be a foreign tongue to most of the people here in Uniondale, New York. Sheik and Zhukov enter the ring and stand at the side of Sgt. Slaughter. This leaves Slaughter with a large smile on his face. He looks to Hogan and tells him that since he is outnumbered he has two options. The first option is to walk away like the weak American that he is. He could give a full retreat and show how weak Americans are when faced with a challenge. The second option is that he remains in the ring and gets beat down and destroyed by himself, The Iron Sheik and Boris Zhukov. Hogan tosses the podium to the side, ready to fight. But he gets on the microphone and says that he knew that Slaughter would pull something like this. So he asked a couple of guys in the back to watch his back. He invites them out to the ring. The sound of a motorcycle engine revving is heard. Then three men come riding their motorcycles down to the ring!]

[Those three men are Paul Ellering and The Legion Of Doom! The crowd goes wild as Ellering, Hawk and Animal enter the ring off their motorcycles. As soon as the thee men enter the ring the brawl is on! Slaughter and Hogan exchange blows. The Iron Sheik and Boris Zhukov battle with The Legion Of Doom! Slaughter is backed in a corner and Hogan climbs up, throwing punches down on the WWF World Heavyweight Champion! After the count of ten, Hogan drops down and Slaughter is yanked from the ring by General Adnan! The Iron Sheik is tossed out of the ring and Boris Zhukov is left in the ring with the three men. He gets raised on Animal's shoulders and Hawk climbs the turnbuckle -- Doomsday Device! Zhukov hits the mat and rolls out of the ring. Hulk Hogan, The Legion Of Doom and Paul Ellering all pose in the ring as the show begins going off the air. Gorilla Monsoon and Nikolai Volkoff tell everyone to tune in to WWF Superstars this Sunday! [From there we go to the Event Center that is pre-taped and hosted by Sean Mooney. Mooney talks about future events that the World Wrestling Federation is going to have. He tells everyone to make sure that they have tickets to their next event, including the next WWF Prime Time Wrestling in the Arizona Veteran's Coliseum. Some pre-taped interviews are shown from several wrestlers as they hype their upcoming matches. These interviews begin with Big Bossman, who talks about his feud with Tully Blanchard and Bobby Heenan. The Bossman reveals that he will be facing Tully Blanchard at WrestleMania VII! Jake Roberts is the second pre-taped interview as he discusses his feud with Rick Martel. He laughs about locking Martel in with a King Cobra. He tells Martel to never trust a snake. Then we go to a scene following Prime Time Wrestling where Rick Martel is being looked at by doctors. The doctors are injecting king cobra antivenom into Martel. They are telling him that quick treatment is needed to prevent possible death. Martel looks horrible at the moment, definitely not the Model that he has been. Our final pre-taped interview is with Demolition. Ax and Smash talk about their upcoming match with The Legion Of Doom at WrestleMania. They say that they are going to prove that they are the best in the ring and outside the ring. They say at WrestleMania that they are going to demolish the Legion Of Dummies and send them running from the World Wrestling Federation.]

[We head to a different interview. This one has Gene Okerlund interviewing Greg Valentine. Valentine says that he has gone through a rough spot here in the World Wrestling Federation. However, he says that tonight those rough spots go away when he steps in the ring with The Mountie. He says that he is not going to be sentenced by The Mountie because he hasn't done anything against the law in Canada. He says that tonight he is going to break The Mountie's legs. Why? Because he is the best in the World Wrestling Federation. He will prove that tonight against one of the top wrestlers in the world.]

[To end the show, we move to a hype video that features what happened last Monday on Prime Time Wrestling. The focus is on the 'debate' between Sgt. Slaughter and Hulk Hogan. The debate quickly takes a turn when Slaughter brings out The Iron Sheik and Boris Zhukov. But Hogan did not come out there without forming a group of his own. Out from the back comes The Legion of Doom and Paul Ellering. Then the brawl was on between all the wrestlers. Hulk Hogan and his group come out on top but will the same thing happen this Monday night on Prime Time Wrestling? The end of the show lets us know that this Monday night on Prime Time Wrestling we will see Sgt. Slaughter, The Iron Sheik and Boris Zhukov take on Hulk Hogan and The Legion Of Doom! Be There!]

WCW SATURDAY NIGHT

Filmed on Thursday 4 March 1991 in Cameron, NC (8,000)

Aired on Saturday 6 March 1991 on TBS (1.07
[DOWN 0.02]
)

Announcers:
Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone & Dusty Rhodes

<hr>
http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/DustyRhodes.jpg

WCW Executive
Dusty Rhodes
opened up the show in unusual fashion, by announcing that he had an announcement to make! The "huge" surprise that Rhodes had arranged for the end of the show would be related to this month's March Supercard, but Rhodes refused to go into any more detail - promising only that it would make the Supercard a must-see event!
[b ][/b]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/PaulHeyman.jpg

Backstage
Paul E Dangerously
cut a short promo about his clients, now apparently nicknamed the "Dangerous Alliance", Rick Rude and Nikita Koloff. Dangerously said that Nikita Koloff was going to squash Brian Pillman like a bug later on in the show, and that if Rick Rude didn't win the WCW World Heavyweight title at the March Supercard it was because Dusty Rhodes and the rest of the hacks in WCW management had bought off the referee - that, he claimed, was the only way Rude was going to lose against a face-painted fool like the Stinger. Paul E said there was nothing more dangerous than the “Ravishing One” with gold in his eyes, and at the Supercard there could be only one winner!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/RickSteiner.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/ScottSteiner.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/JackVictory.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/RipMorgan.jpg

The opening match of the night was a solid in-ring performance from two tag teams at opposite ends of the success spectrum.
The Steiner Brothers vs The Royal Family
was a good wrestling encounter, and featured two well-oiled tag teams, but the match itself mirrored the recent fortunes of these two teams. US Tag Team champions Rick and Scott Steiner are definitely riding high at the moment, while The Royal Family have struggled throughout early 1991 and that's the way this bout played out. A
Steinerizer
on Rip Morgan at 6:36 was enough to give the Steiner Brothers the victory.

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/RickSteiner.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/ScottSteiner.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/DDP.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/JimmyGarvin.jpg

Celebration time is hard to come by in WCW at the moment and the
Steiner Brothers
were the latest victims of a post-match attack.
DDP and Jimmy Garvin
rushed the WCW United States Tag Team title holders and successfully made their point against a momentarily defenceless Rick and Scott. Michael Hayes was absent due to preparations ahead of his match with Bobby Eaton, but DDP and Garvin did just about enough to deliver a message and get out of the ring before the Steiners could return the attack! Don't forget, these two teams will square off at the Supercard for the US Tag titles!

Backstage
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Barry Windham
confirmed that they had kicked Sid Vicious out of the Four Horsemen for good after his poor performances over the last month. Flair said that Sid was not the jet-flying, limo-riding son of a gun that a Horsemen needs to be and that if he made one mistake in his career it was allowing that lumbering idiot to tarnish the name of the Four Horsemen. Arn Anderson said that while they were currently three, the Horsemen always added up to Four, and confirmed that there was more than one possibility in mind. Whether it was Larry Zbyszko or not, the Four Horsemen were going to ride again before too long!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/MichaelHayes.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/BobbyEaton.jpg

Bobby Eaton was in a fantastic match last week, but was conned out of a victory by Alexandra York. Not so in this match, as once again Eaton tried his best to steal the show.
Michael Hayes vs Bobby Eaton
was a great encounter for Saturday Night and there was definitely chemistry between the man from Alabama and his opponent from Georgia. DDP at ringside did his best to swing the match in Hayes' favour, but it was Bobby Eaton that triumphed after an
Alabama Jam
at 7:33.

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/Sting.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/MissyHyatt.jpg

Just prior to the semi-main event match between Nikita Koloff and Brian Pillman, WCW's World Heavyweight champion
Sting
cut a short interview with
Missy Hyatt
. Responding to Paul E Dangerously's comments from earlier in the show, Sting claimed that if Rick Rude didn't win at the Supercard it wouldn't be because of poor refereeing, it would be because the better man won. Sting said that Rick Rude would be a worthy challenger for his belt, but said that if Rude really wanted to be a champion, he'd need to get rid of Dangerously and that weasel's cheating ways! Being a champion is more than winning, said Sting, it's about being the best inside and out!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/NikitaKoloff.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Matches/BrianPillman.jpg

Nikita Koloff vs Brian Pillman
was another superb encounter as Saturday Night built up towards the big four-man main event. In the end, it would prove that both this match and the one prior overshadowed the main event entirely and that was thanks in no small part to a fantastic set of performances here. Nikita Koloff was wrestling his first singles match since his return to WCW, but he was wary of falling victim to an upset against the ever-dangerous Brian Pillman. Pillman has found 1991 to be a year of wrestling giants, although despite some great performances he has struggled to get over the finish line in first place. That continued to be the case in this semi-main event as no matter what he tried, Koloff just kept getting back up. With Paul E Dangerously shouting and complaining at ringside, Koloff finally hit his
Russian Sickle
finisher at 8:50 to secure the victory.

The main event was a unique setup that perhaps fell a little short of expectations. The match was billed as a battle royal without over-the-top-rope eliminations but in reality it was a four-corners elimination match, albeit for the
WCW United States Heavyweight title
, and with
Davey Boy Smith
once again acting as special guest referee.
Lex Luger © vs Stan Hansen vs El Gigante vs Dan Spivey
was a hard fought encounter but there was a little too much going on for it to be considered a classic by fans, particularly those in attendance who found it difficult to follow at times. All four men were in the ring at the same time, and Lex was definitely at a disadvantage knowing he had to outlast three other competitors to retain his belt. Unfortunately for Luger, while he survived the first elimination, when El Gigante fell to Stan Hansen the odds were stacked even further against the WCW United States Heavyweight champion. However, somehow, someway, Luger took control and when Stan Hansen spilled uncomfortably to the outside Luger took on Spivey one-on-one. As with their last encounter, Luger took control quickly and the
Torture Rack
was enough to eliminate Spivey. With just Hansen and Luger left, Dan Spivey managed to distract Davey Boy Smith just long enough for Hansen to nail Luger with what looked to be a horseshoe! Although Davey Boy knew something was up when he turned around to see Hansen pinning a bloodied Lex Luger, he had little choice but to make the three count and make Stan Hansen the NEW WCW United States Heavyweight champion!
[C]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/DaveyBoySmith.jpg

After the match, however,
Davey Boy Smith
quickly grabbed a microphone. Smith said that he might have missed a couple of things as a referee, but one thing he didn't miss was the opportunity to take a villain down a notch or two. Smith said he hadn't come to World Championship Wrestling to referee matches, he'd come to fight and announced he'd be asking Dusty Rhodes for a match at the upcoming Supercard...and it'd be against Stan Hansen for the United States title!
[C+]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/DustyRhodes.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/RicFlair.jpg

As promised, WCW Executive
Dusty Rhodes
came down to the ring once the dust had cleared from the main event. Rhodes reiterated his earlier comments, that the upcoming announcement would ensure that this month's Supercard would be a must-see event. Rhodes called out "Nature Boy"
Ric Flair
who strutted his way to the ring in confident fashion. Rhodes said that many of WCW's big guns were already tied up for the Supercard, with Rude set to take on Sting being the big headline match. However, Rhodes reminded fans that, as yet, Ric Flair has had no match made for the Supercard. That all changed, when Rhodes introduced the man Flair would wrestle at the Supercard...

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/TatsumiFujinami.jpg

...NJPW Heavyweight champion
Tatsumi Fujinami!
As a sign of the growing relationship between WCW and NJPW, Flair would take on Fujinami for the NJPW Heavyweight title in just a few weeks time, live on the TBS television special Supercard!

The opening match of the night was a predictable tag match that showcased Alexandra York's stable and did just about nothing else.
York Foundation vs The Renegade Warriors
isn't like to make it to home video, and most fans were happy to see this one end at 5:52 when Terrence Taylor's
Sharpshooter
made Chris Youngblood submit.
[D]

Arn Anderson
cut a short backstage promo about the state of the Four Horsemen and his WCW World Television title. Anderson said that, like the rest of the Horsemen, he'd be a fighting champion and revealed he'd be facing Junkyard Dog in a championship match next week on Saturday Night! Anderson also said that there was no rush to find a replacement for Sid Vicious because, as always, the Horsemen didn't play by anyone else's rules but their own!

The second match of the night wasn't much better than the first, although it was a bit more open. Despite some decent wrestling, the crowd just weren't into
One Man Gang vs Tommy Rich
and that undoubtedly hurt the contest a little. Rich saw most of the opening go his way, but OMG soon turned things around and a
747 Splash
at 5:43 ended the contest in the big man's favour.

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/SteveAustin.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Diaries/WCW%20Joint/Angles/Norman.jpg

“Stunning” Steve Austin has found himself fitting into World Championship Wrestling pretty well since his debut earlier in the year, but while he has put on some impressive performances, and taken part in some solid matches for his popularity level, this one was a mess.
Steve Austin vs Norman the Lunatic
should have been a more entertaining spectacle than it ended up being, but for whatever reason these two really didn't click. A pinfall at 6:19 ensured Austin would have another win to his name, albeit a forgettable one in the eyes of the fans.
[D-]

Following his victory over Norman,
Steve Austin
grabbed a microphone and proceeded to taunt Dusty Rhodes. Saying that it was the "American Dream's" fault that his son Dustin was such a loser, Austin claimed the only thing Dusty Rhodes did in his wrestling career worth a thing was hiring the most “Stunning” wrestler in the world to WCW!
[D]

In a short backstage segment
The Destruction Crew
promised to come back stronger than ever following their defeat to Doom last month. Wayne Bloom and Mike Enos said that it was their dream to capture the WCW World Tag Team titles and that sooner or later, the reign of Ron Simmons and Butch Reed would come crashing down around them!
[C-]

In her now regular segment,
Missy Hyatt
's Hotline Corner, the first lady of WCW talked about the announcement made by Dusty Rhodes on Saturday Night that Ric Flair would face Japanese superstar Tatsumi Fujinami for the NJPW Heavyweight title this coming Supercard. Hyatt said that Ric Flair was reportedly unhappy about the short notice of the match, feeling that as a global star Flair's wrestling style was so well known that he'd be at a disadvantage against some “unknown” Japanese wrestler. Hyatt also talked about the rumours of Larry Zbyszko joining the Four Horsemen and claimed there was a rumour going around that the “Living Legend” had requested a meeting with the Nature Boy. As always, for more info give the WCW Hotline a call!

While some of the matches earlier in the show failed to live up to expectations,
Barry Windham vs Z-Man
was at least an enjoyable match for the Myrtle Beach crowd to end the show. As expected, solid wrestling was on display, and it was Barry Windham that would triumph after a
Suplerplex
finisher on the former WCW Television champion at 8:43.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

World Wrestling Federation

-This week we are on the Road To WrestleMania! That road makes a stop in the Arizona Veteran's Coliseum in Phoenix Arizona. The build to WrestleMania continues here with a night of what is short to be exciting action as sports entertainment comes to you live on Monday night!

-The main event of the evening is set to be a six man tag team explosion. On one side, we have the WWF World Heavyweight Champion Sgt. Slaughter, a former WWF World Heavyweight Champion The Iron Sheik and a terrifying Russian by the man of Boris Zhukov. On the other side of things we have the man who won the Royal Rumble, who will take on Sgt. Slaughter at WrestleMania: Hulk Hogan. His teammates? The legendary tag team known as the Legion Of Doom! Things are sure to explode in this match as all six tough brawlers go at it!

-Rick Martel has been suffering from a snake bite since last week on WWF Prime Time Wrestling when Jake Roberts locked him in a room with a King Cobra. We have been told that Martel is on the road to recovery and that he has a very special announcement to be made on Prime Time Wrestling. What could that announcement be? Only one way to find out and that's to tune in to WWF Prime Time Wrestling on the USA network.

-Another match that was made by the WWF President The Million Dollar Man is a match that certainly has some WrestleMania implications. Last week, Ricky Steamboat won the right to face Mr. Perfect for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania. This week on Prime Time Wrestling, he will be facing another member of the Bobby Heenan Family. That man only recently made his return to the WWF. That man is Tully Blanchard.

-Last week we saw Power & Glory agree to meet The Rockers in two singles matches ahead of their tag team title match at WrestleMania. Last week, Hercules defeated Shawn Michaels by submission. This week, Marty Jannetty goes one on one with Paul Roma. After seeing Roma and Beulah together on Superstars, who knows what is going to happen with Jannetty's good-luck charm.

-Also in action this week includes King Kong Bundy, Demolition, The Ultimate Warrior, the return of the Killer Bees and more! We will also be hearing from The Legion Of Doom, Kerry Von Erich, The Million Dollar Man and more!

Fun Fan Signs:

World Championship Wrestling

-The hottest show in television is about to get even hotter! This week, WCW Saturday Night comes to you from The Myrtle Beach Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Forget Sports Entertainment, this is professional wrestling and this is where the big boys play!

-What a main event that we have signed for you this week. It will be a non-title match as the WCW World Champion Sting goes one on one with a man thought to be in contention to make that fourth Horsemen: Larry Zbyszko. Can the man known as the Living Legend show that he is up to snuff? Or will the WCW World Champion prove why he is the Champion? And you have to know that The Dangerous Alliance will be lurking around during this match. What effect will they have on the contest?

-Speaking of main event matches, we have another one that could main event anywhere in the world. Davey Boy Smith steps into the WCW ring for the first time as a wrestler in tag team competition. He teams up with the former United States Heavyweight Champion Lex Luger against the team of Dangerous Dan Spivey and the new WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Stan Hansen. This should be a hard-hitting contest with the winning team getting a lot of momentum headed toward the March Supercard.

-Not to be outdone by these matches, one of the members of the Four Horsemen will be in action. The WCW World Television Champion Arn Anderson will defend this belt against Junkyard Dog. JYD has been a bit of a losing streak here lately but a win and capturing the TV belt would be an amazing turn-around for this man.

-Also in action are The Steiner Brothers, Dr. X, El Gigante and more! We will also be hearing from Ric Flair following last week's announcement that he will be receiving a NJPW Heavyweight title shot against Tatsumi Fujinami at the March Supercard. Plus more exciting WCW action! Make sure you are tuned in to the Superstation TBS at 6:05 for WCW Saturday Night!

I never got to watch WCW when I was younger (no cable) and my uncle only watched WWF. I am enjoying reading the WCW stuff and it's an introduction of sorts to many characters I had never known about.
