Monday Nights Mean War

I just had a thought...wasn't the Giant in the nWo at this point?

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Hulk Hogan (Champion) w/Ted DiBiase vs. Lex Luger vs. Roddy Piper

Hollywood isn't losing this title without buildup aplenty.

WCW World Tag Team Championship

The Outsiders (Champions) vs. The Steiner Brothers w/Madusa vs. Harlem Heat w/Sister Sherri

A change is more possible here, but I just don't see it.

WCW United States Championship

Eddy Guerrero (Champion) vs. Syxx

Syxx with the second most important singles title in the company? Meh.

WCW World Television Championship

Lord Steven Regal (Champion) vs. Big Bubba Rogers

Trim the fat.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

Ultimo Dragon (Champion) w/Sonny Onoo vs. Dean Malenko

Ten Man Tag

Losing Group Must Disband!

The Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit, Steve McMichael and Jeff Jarrett) w/Woman and Debra McMichael

vs.

The Dungeon of Doom (Kevin Sullivan, Hugh Morrus, Konnan, Meng and the Barbarian) w/Jacqueline and Jimmy Hart

The DoD was still around at this point? Wow. Why?

Open Challenge

"Macho Man" Randy Savage w/Elizabeth vs. ???

I'm curious to see what you do with Savage. Cutting out some of the superfluous nWo members could free up room for another megastar like Randy, but he might work better as one of their main foils while Sting continues to be a loner.

Diamond Dallas Page and the Giant w/Kimberly vs. Vicious & Delicious

So I guess my predictions would chop the nWo down to the original three, plus non-wrestlers (and Wallstreet.) I don't think you'll actually trim it down to this degree, but it wouldn't be a bad thing if you did.

Bonus Questions:

-Will whoever accept Macho Man's challenge be from WCW, the nWo or a free agent? And who will accept? Had they already done the "nWo Japan" stuff? Not sure. Either way, I'll say Muta.

-Will anyone turn heel or babyface? Probably, but I can't decide who it would be so I'll just say no.

-How many titles will change hands? 1

Giant was VERY recently turfed at this point, I think because he dared challenge Hollywood after winning WW3. That was the IRL main event to Souled Out, I definitely remember that.

This. I think he wasn't kicked out of the nWo until right before the event too. I vaguely remember a storyline going into Superbrawl about whether or not Luger could trust The Giant in a match against the Outsiders. He would stay a fan favorite the rest of the year and then turn back to the nWo (Black & White) around Slamboree of 1998.

Pretty much what Beejus and Darbicus said. As for why I didn't go with Giant challenging Hogan like in real life for this one, I wanted to right the wrong of Piper beating World Champion Hogan in the main event of Starrcade... in a non-title match. I thought that was ass. So Piper's getting his shot, with Luger thrown into the mix.

Funny thing in story...it was explicitly stated that Piper had written the contract between he and Hogan for the match at Starrcade...so he literally had booked himself in a non-title match, kayfabe.

Also, it wasn't heavily advertised that the match was non-title...so the people in the crowd genuinely thought for a moment that the title had changed hands.

Then again, this is the same company that had a stretcher match end with a pinfall.

VINTAGE WCW! :D

Then again, this is the same company that had a stretcher match end with a pinfall.

Why I'm glad to see a lot of dynasty's popping up trying to solve the problems of WCW. One of my favorite times to try and "fix" (though I started a year later than yours) Certainly looking forward to seeing where you go...and for the record...

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Hulk Hogan (Champion) w/Ted DiBiase vs. Lex Luger vs. Roddy Piper

I think Hogan won't keep the belt as long as he did in real life, but here he should win through shenanigans.

WCW World Tag Team Championship

The Outsiders (Champions) vs. The Steiner Brothers w/Madusa vs. Harlem Heat w/Sister Sherri

I actually think there will be a bait and switch, where the Steiners will win the match and then be stripped of the titles the following night by Bischoff like what happened in real life.

WCW United States Championship

Eddy Guerrero (Champion) vs. Syxx

Syxx will win the match, but it will be by disqualification or some such thing, allowing Guerrero to keep the belt.

WCW World Television Championship

Lord Steven Regal (Champion) vs. Big Bubba Rogers

Big Bubba will be the first kicked out of the nWo.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

Ultimo Dragon (Champion) w/Sonny Onoo vs. Dean Malenko

Makes more sense for Malenko to have the belt at this point. Opens up more feud possibilities.

Ten Man Tag

Losing Group Must Disband!

The Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit, Steve McMichael and Jeff Jarrett) w/Woman and Debra McMichael

vs.

The Dungeon of Doom (Kevin Sullivan, Hugh Morrus, Konnan, Meng and the Barbarian) w/Jacqueline and Jimmy Hart

Um...yeah...I expect Konnan to join the nWo with this one.

Open Challenge

"Macho Man" Randy Savage w/Elizabeth vs. ???

I hope you don't have Savage become a flunkie to Hogan...although that would excise the fantastic feud between he and Page that happened in 97...so many decisions,

Diamond Dallas Page and the Giant w/Kimberly vs. Vicious & Delicious

There's a chance, albeit a small one, DDP could turn on Giant. But I don't think it will happen. The B squad get the victory in the end, anyway.

Bonus Questions:

-Will whoever accept Macho Man's challenge be from WCW, the nWo or a free agent? And who will accept? To answer someone else's question, nWo Japan did exist around this time frame, with Masahiro Chono and Muta as the "Americanized" members. I expect that the person who accepts the challenge will be "Sting"...as in the bogus Sting from the nWo.

-Will anyone turn heel or babyface? Small chance Page turns heel, but I doubt it.

-How many titles will change hands? 2

Sunday, Week 1, January 1997

Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Attendance: 10,000 (SELL OUT!)

<iframe width="350" height="263" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/cpQk3bgCfUk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The music continued playing as the camera panned around the Five Seasons Center, showing a mix of WCW fans and diehard nWo fans going wild with excitement. The setup was pretty much the same as the real life stage set up that was used for the 1997 Souled Out PPV, complete with the unique three piece tron, the lights up above that spell out "NWO" and "WCW," the big stage stairs that lead down to the aisle, the announce table positioned not far from the stage, and a live rock band.

We go to Hollywood Hogan and the Outsiders, who were shown on the three piece tron, hyping up tonight's show. Hogan talked about how both he and the Outsiders were killing two birds with one stone, as he we will be taking out Lex Loser and "Rowdy Roddy Pooper," while the Outsiders talked about how they would take out the "Einsteiners" and the "Harlem Steamers." They then introduced the duo of Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase, who would be handling the announcing duties for tonight.

Eric and Ted then came out and made their way to the announce table, put on their headsets and hyped tonight's card.

Despite some of the Giant's limitations, the crowd seemed to enjoy this bout as he and DDP took the fight to Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton. Bagwell and Norton would get in some cheap shots on DDP which referee Nick Patrick completely ignored, but Patrick was more than ready to chastise DDP and the Giant whenever they did so much as look at him funny. At one point in the match, Scott Norton started talking trash at Kimberly, which distracted him long enough to get caught with a big boot from the Giant when he turned around. Bagwell didn't even wait for Norton to try and tag him in, instead opting to just run in to try and attack the Giant, and of course Patrick didn't seem to care one bit. DDP was irate and ran into the ring to argue with Patrick, who immediately disqualified DDP for what Eric Bischoff claimed was "traumatic verbal abuse of an official."

This match may not have had the most crowd reaction of the night, but it provided plenty of great action, even if Ultimo Dragon was a bit fatigued from working for both WCW and New Japan. Sonny Onoo was a factor yet again as he hopped onto the apron to try and tell Ultimo to bring Dean Malenko over and let him get in a cheap lick. But Ultimo was having none of it, arguing with Onoo and telling him to get down off the apron. Malenko crept back up and took advantage of the situation by dropkicking Ultimo in the back, knocking him into Onoo and sending Onoo crashing to the floor. Ultimo staggered backwards and Malenko caught him in a German Suplex for the victory.

Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase took some time to talk about the show so far, with Eric telling us that he was told in his headset that security got DDP and the Giant and had them escorted out of here. They talked about how they let Elizabeth leave the nWo when they heard "Macho Man" Randy Savage was on his way back from his sabbatical and had threatened bodily harm to Bischoff and DiBiase. To appease Savage, they have allowed him to issue an open challenge to anyone in WCW, the nWo or on the free agent market here at Souled Out.

http://i.imgur.com/YqvwkrC.jpg

Vincent, who had been standing beside the timekeeper to keep an eye out and make sure no one from WCW interefered, stepped up to the plate to accept the challenge while Bischoff and DiBiase unabashedly praised Vincent for "being a go-getter" and "grabbing that brass ring."

The Macho Man made short work of Vincent, who tried to fight back. However, the anger of the Macho Madness was just too much for the nWo's resident lackey to handle as Randy Savage finished him off with his patented Flying Elbow Smash, and even Nick Patrick had no choice but to count the three as Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase sounded disgusted on commentary. Not at Nick Patrick for making the three count, but at Vincent for embarrassing the New World Order.

Out walked none other than someone who was no stranger to Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Curt Hennig! Savage said "Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Get your butt on out here, Curt! I've got a PERFECT beating in store for you!" Curt entered the ring while Elizabeth stayed on the outside. Curt stared down at Randy, turned to the audience, spat out his gum and slapped it toward the audience, then went to punch Randy! Randy punched back, and the two engaged in a wild brawl that sent Elizabeth running to the back for her own safety! The brawl got so heated that several WCW lowcarders, who Eric Bischoff said he hired out of the goodness of his heart for just this one night so they could get an extra payday, ran out to get the two men separated!

There was plenty of action to be had in this ten man tag match, and the crowd seemed to like the match thanks in part to the overness of Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, coupled with the in-ring work of Chris Benoit and Jeff Jarrett. Combined with some pretty good brawling from the Dungeon of Doom, as well as some good power from Meng and Barbarian, and outside shenanigans aplenty, this match was pretty fun to watch. Jacqueline at one point in the match hit Benoit with a forearm while he and Sullivan were fighting outside the ring. Woman would return the favor by slapping Kevin Sullivan hard across the face. At one point in the match, Arn Anderson had things going his way until Jimmy Hart distracted him, allowing Konnan to get some offense in on him. Toward the end, Meng had Steve "Mongo" McMichael where he wanted him until Debra got on the ring apron to distract him. She tried flirting with him, which seemed to confuse Meng. The distraction allowed for Mongo to hit Meng with a Pumphandle Slam. Mongo stood up and played to the crowd, but he didn't realize how close to his team's corner he was when Jeff Jarrett reached out and tagged himself in, ran in and went for the pin while the Horsemen cut off the rest of the Dungeon. Mongo looked dubmfounded as Jarrett played it up, acting as if he had just struggled to rescue someone in distress when in reality, he didn't do a whole lot in the match. While Mongo took exception, Debra didn't seem to mind as she smiled and clapped for Jarrett.

While Steven Regal is more known for his scientific wrestling prowess, he can brawl with the best of him if he has to, and he had to against Big Bubba Rogers. Bischoff noted that Regal could be a great get for the nWo if they ever expanded to the UK. It looked as if Bubba had Regal where he wanted him after a hard clothesline, so Bubba picked Regal up and whipped him into the ropes. He went for the Bubba Slam. But Regal slipped behind Bubba, turned him around and used every bit of strength he had to get Bubba up and over, knocking him out with an Exploder Suplex for the victory. Even the blatantly pro-nWo Nick Patrick had to admit Regal was the better man and make the three count without any shenanigans.

Before the match, Nick Patrick noted that this particular triangle match would be fought under elimination rules, meaning that the last team standing would be the winners. Hard hitting didn't even begin to describe the action as all six men looked as though they were trying to beat the tar out of each other. Around ten minutes into the bout we had our first elimination as Booker T, Stevie Ray and Sister Sherri were arguing with referee Nick Patrick about his sudden shoulder pains when Booker had Hall pinned. This allowed Kevin Nash to run in and clothesline Booker from behind, then nail Stevie Ray with a vicious right hand that sent him crashing down to the floor. Sherri went to check on Stevie while Nash lifted Booker up and slammed him down with a Jackknife Powerbomb and made the pin. It was then down to the Outsiders and Steiners, and the Outsiders seemed to have things going their way. But as trainers were helping Harlem Heat to the back, Madusa got up on the apron and nailed Nick Patrick from behind with a low blow, sending him down into the fetal position as Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase were livid on commentary. Hall and Nash got distracted, and this allowed Rick and Scott Steiner to grab steel chairs and blast the Outsiders in the back with them. The Outsiders turned around, allowing Rick Steiner to smash his steel chair over Nash's head, sending him down, while Scott Steiner turned Scott Hall around and knocked him out with a Frankensteiner. Referee Randy Anderson, who Bischoff said he only brought in to be on standby, ran into the ring and quickly counted to three. The crowd and the Steiners and Madusa were jubilant as Randy Anderson handed them the tag title belts while Bischoff and DiBiase were screaming bloody murder.

Much like Ultimo Dragon vs. Dean Malenko earlier, this match had plenty of fast paced action, even if the crowd wasn't as hot as one would have liked. Though you couldn't blame them for wanting to catch their breaths after the really good tag title match and the aftermath of said match. The crowd watched with much interest as Guerrero and Syxx put on a clinic. Syxx looked like he had the match won when he locked Guerrero in the Buzzkill, but Guerrero had the wherewithal to maneuver his way over to the corner, pick up his feet and push himself off the corner (a la Bret Hart reversing Steve Austin's Million Dollar Dream at Survivor Series), which put himself on top of Syxx. Nick Patrick, who was still trying to regain his wits after being hit with a low blow just fifteen minutes prior by Madusa, may not have realized Syxx was being pinned (as noted by Bischoff on commentary) as Eddy Guerrero retained the title.

They made it a point to try and tell everyone at home that it had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the fact that Hall and Nash have been best buds with Syxx for several years. Both Luger and Piper started off the match going after Hogan, causing him to try and beg off as they took turns teeing off on him. But that would change when Piper just up and decided to pop Luger as well because... well, he's Roddy Piper and he loves a good fight! Hogan rolled out of the ring to take a breather as Luger and Piper went at it, but after Piper poked Luger in the eyes, he went out after Hogan. Piper and Hogan fought all over ringside, and Luger eventually joined in the melee. Luger grabbed Piper by the head and slammed him headfirst on the ring apron, then rolled him into the ring. Luger then eyed Hogan, who was leaning against the security railing, and came charging toward him. Luger jumped up into the air for what looked to be a splash into Hogan, but Hogan rolled out of the way, and Luger damn near impaled himself onto the security railing, sending him limping out and over to the other side among the spectators. Hogan rolled into the ring and was met by right hand jabs from Piper. Piper spun Hogan around with one last jab, then locked him into his dreaded Sleeper Hold. Hogan looked like he was going out, and Nick Patrick went to raise his arms. ONE... TWO... THR-NO! Patrick held up Hogan's arm and claimed that Hogan got his arm up. Piper let Hogan go, sending him collapsing down to the mat as Piper got in Patrick's face. Piper grabbed Patrick by his hair and was ready to do a number on him. He kept teasing the crowd that he was going to deck him as Patrick pleaded for his life. Hogan, however, was coming to and just as Piper was ready to deck Patrick, Hogan took a page out of Madusa's playbook and hit Piper from behind with a low blow. Piper was bent over and turning around as Hogan took a foreign object out of his pants and knocked Piper out with said foreign object, then went for the pinfall to get his long awaited pinfall victory over Piper.

Bischoff and DiBiase were wondering just what on earth was going on because they knew that they had plenty of money to pay the electric bill. Then, a spotlight shone up into the rafters...

It was Sting! He simply looked down at Hogan and the Outsiders and pointed his baseball bat to them as the lights came back on and showed them looking up at Sting, trying to make heads or tails what kind of message he was trying to send to them.

The Fountain of Misinformation's Rumor Mill

The Fountain of Misinformation returns for yet another posting after a wild and crazy nWo Souled Out. I wasn't sure what to expect with this PPV being a kayfabe nWo run PPV, but it turned out pretty well. Vincent and Big Bubba Rogers being kicked out was to be expected, as well as Syxx staying in despite losing due to nepotism, but I didn't expect Vicious & Delicious to win, albeit by disqualification (which in my opinion was really well done, especially with Eric Bischoff's line about "traumatic verbal abuse of an official"). Looks like maybe WCW has plans for Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton as a team.

I figured that Hollywood Hogan and the Outsiders being exempt from being kicked out if they lost would lead to either one or two titles changing hands. I liked how the finish for the Tag Title match went down and I'll be tuning in to Nitro to see what the aftermath will be given how upset Bischoff was. Remember, he's still the authority figure of WCW and the nWo in this storyline. And I have to say, I'm glad they're actually doing something with V.K. Wallstreet now instead of him being just another nWo flunky. And I have to say, I enjoyed the main event. It may not have been a technical masterpiece, but it didn't need to be. And I have to admit that Sting showing up at the end in the rafters was pretty cool. Overall, I give this show an 85.

On the heels of Souled Out, I'm hearing that Big Bubba Rogers and Vincent have both been given month long vacations. Teddy Long was also given a month long vacation as well to sell his nWo beatdown. Renegade was given a vacation as well, but rather a two week one instead of a month long one, the logic being that he's a trained wrestler and can take a beating moreso than Teddy. Speaking of Teddy Long, I hear they have recently renewed his contract. Homey definitely play that!

And finally, rumor has it that some of the recent WCW signings should be appearing on TV soon. Still don't know who they are. Either Bischoff is working the boys and girls, or he swore everyone to secrecy.

That's it for today's posting. This is the Fountain of Misinformation signing off!

Lots of crazy surprises with that show! Great work Mattywood. :D

Good, solid first PPV. Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Thanks, guys! Hopefully I can keep this up for every PPV from here on out. :)

BOO! Dragon shouldn't have lost.

It was a necessary evil. I have something in store for the Dragon/Onoo saga, and Dragon was fatigued. :( I'm debating whether or not to break off my working relationship with New Japan so that I can sign Ultimo Dragon to an exclusive deal.

I do that every game because New Japan always kills the workers we share. I'm an unabashed Ultimo Dragon fan boy though. So any loss he suffers will hurt my soul! :p

On a serious note, very enjoyable show. Steiners winning is awesome as they're probably my favorite tag team of all time. I can never decide between them and Harlem Heat.

I meant to comment on this earlier. Much as I like Pulitz...err, Rotunda, he's one of the best examples of when the nWo started to become bloated. But the role you've given him works really well and justifies his presence.

Liked the PPV. It truly felt like an nWo-run show. It definitely wasn't the right time for Hogan to lose, but shaking things up in the tag division isn't a bad idea.

The pics you've chosen for Savage and Liz make me think that they'll both be going heel sooner or later. It's entirely possible that I'm just reading too much into this, however.

Really good show. I tried to run a WCW '97 game quite a while back and was never able to get into it, mainly because every show consisted of "nWo beatdown on ___" and "Sting in the rafters" ... and while both of those things happened at your Souled Out, I've already got a lot more confidence that things are going to get more interesting in this than in my game. I like the selective firing choices, that was great. And I also forgot Konnan was in the Dungeon of Doom. I'm interested to see what you're gonna do with those guys now that they're done.

Without giving anything away, I'm going to say why I chose those pics: for Elizabeth, I felt that picture most fit the time period. For Randy Savage, it's because I'm going to develop the "don't give an eff" rebel character that WCW teased us with at the start of 1997. Too bad they had him join the nWo

That's definitely my goal, to keep from having nWo beatdowns and Sting in the rafters EVERY show, but they will happen from time to time to advance storylines and develop characters. And I'm thinking of some ideas for what to do with the now former Dungeon members. I already have plans in store for the Faces of Fear (Meng and Barbarian) :D

Monday Night, Week 2, January 1997

Bismarck Civic Center

Bismarck, North Dakota

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Larry Zbyszko

Attendance: 10,000 (SELL OUT!)

Pre-Show Dark Match:

Disco Inferno defeated Brad Armstrong in 8:04 by pinfall with The Last Dance.

Grade: D+

<iframe width="350" height="197" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Vr-BhzNx0bw?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Main Show:

<iframe width="350" height="263" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/YQIKuK8nqZ4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hollywood Hogan, Ted DiBiase and Kevin Nash opened the show with their nWo teammates, Scott Hall, Syxx, V.K. Wallstreet, and Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton of the Vicious & Delicious duo standing in the background. Hogan bragged about retaining his title and how he finally, after all these years, was able to get Rowdy Roddy "Pooper" where he wanted him and that he couldn't hide behind his skirt any longer and was able to pin him for the one... two... three. DiBiase then took the mic and said that he and Eric Bischoff were disgusted with what happened last night in the Tag Title match. However, per the WCW guidelines, only the referee who declared the victor can reverse the decision, so therefore the Steiners were still WCW World Tag Team Champions, but DiBiase said for not much longer as the Outsiders were invoking their rematch clause tonight. Kevin Nash then went on to talk trash about the "Einsteiners" while Hall made goofy faces to make fun of them

Grade: A*

Konnan defeated Chris Benoit in 8:49 when Benoit was counted out after he got distracted into fighting Kevin Sullivan outside the ring, while Jacqueline interfered, which brought Woman into the mix, with the two ladies brawling.

Grade: C+

Mean Gene Okerlund interviewed Curt Hennig near the entrance area to talk about the events of last night. Mean Gene asked Curt what we all wanted to know: Was he with the nWo, or was he with WCW? Curt said he was with neither, as right now he is simply the hottest free agent in wrestling today, and that right now he's testing the waters. That brought out "Macho Man" Randy Savage, with Elizabeth in tow, though she didn't do much of anything but stand there, but that's all she really needed to do anyway. Macho Man said he didn't believe Curt when he said he's not a member of the nWo and simply a free agent looking to sign with whoever he chooses. Curt and Macho Man argued back and forth, this time keeping their cool as they acknowledged that if they attacked each other tonight, they could face legal repercussions. Macho Man then challenged Curt Hennig to a match, and Curt said that while he was a free agent, he would do whatever he had to do to be able to get the match signed, and he was thinking SuperBrawl VII. Macho Man said "Well we've made a date, now don't be late! DIG IT?!"

Grade: A*

The Public Enemy defeated the Armstrongs (Scott and Steve) in 5:38 when Rocco Rock defeated Scott Armstrong by pinfall with a Drive By.

Grade: D

Mean Gene Okerlund interviewed Sonny Onoo with Ultimo Dragon near the entrance area to talk about Ultimo losing the WCW Cruiserweight Title and a recent string of bad luck, mostly at the hands of Onoo. Onoo said that he bore no responsibility for Ultimo's shortcomings, and that they were a result of Ultimo not listening to him. Ultimo had enough of Onoo and knocked him down with a right hand, firing him on the spot!

Grade: C-

*Ultimo Dragon turned face, and it was a complete success.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

http://i.imgur.com/s1ywMhj.jpg

Dean Malenko defeated Juventud Guerrera in 9:50 by submission with a Texas Cloverleaf in what was no doubt a fast-paced and hard fought match up between the two cruiserweights.

Grade: C

After Malenko left the ring, Mean Gene Okerlund introduced the Steiner Brothers (w/Madusa), Diamond Dallas Page (w/Kimberly) and the Giant. They made their way to the ring for an in-ring interview with Mean Gene to talk about last night. DDP and the Giant said they were disgusted with how they were disqualified under bogus conditions, but that was to be expected with the New World Order (or New World "Odor," as Larry Zbyszko said on commentary). But they said they couldn't stay mad forever as they were proud of the Steiners for outsmarting the Outsiders last night and taking back the WCW World Tag Team Titles. The Steiners said they were happy last night, but now it was time to focus on defending the titles and said they didn't care how beat up they were. They said they always show up to fight, and a fight is what they were going to give the Outsiders tonight. The Giant wrapped things up by saying that he was still owed a title shot from his World War 3 win back in November 1996, and that the championship committee is giving it to him at SuperBrawl VII, and since he had waited so long, he'll get to name the stipulation, but he may just wait until the night of the event to tell Hogan.

Grade: B+

Eddy Guerrero, Rey Misterio Jr. and Super Calo defeated the Blue Bloods (Lord Steven Regal, Earl Robert Eaton and Squire David Taylor) in 8:47 when Eddy Guerrero defeated Earl Robert Eaton by pinfall with a Frog Splash after Regal and Taylor walked out on Eaton, leaving him to take a beating.

Grade: C+

*Earl Robert Eaton turned face, and it was a complete success.

Rowdy Roddy Piper came out to deliver an in-ring promo, saying that he hoped Hollywood Hulk Hogan could live with himself that his first pinfall victory over Piper was tainted by a crooked referee. Piper said that he wanted another go with Hogan, whether he has the belt or not after SuperBrawl VII.

<iframe width="300" height="169" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/1viR3yrt9_I?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Ric Flair and Arn Anderson came out, entered the ring and asked Piper, "Why don't we turn this into a 'Pit?'" Piper obliged and congratulated Flair and Anderson on the Horsemen disposing of the Dungeon of Doom. Flair and Anderson talked about how that there should be no doubt now who the elite group in all of professional wrestling is.

<iframe width="300" height="225" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/cpQk3bgCfUk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton of Vicious & Delicious, along with Eric Bischoff, came out to interrupt the proceedings. Bischoff acknowledged that Ric Flair and Arn Anderson are without a doubt two of the greatest wrestlers going today, but said "Let's not confuse ourselves. We all know that the greatest group in wrestling today is the New World Order, whether the WCW fans like it or not." Buff Bagwell then got some mic time, telling Flair and Anderson that for too long, young up and comers such as himself and Scott Norton have been waiting humbly for their turn while trying to be respectful of veterans like Flair and Double A, but no longer! Norton just stood there, looking intimidating as Bagwell continued to rant on Flair and Double A and said that he and Norton talked to Bischoff, and that they would be meeting them at SuperBrawl VII. Flair and Double A told them that they were on. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed as nobody decided to attack anyone as they said "We'll save it for SuperBrawl."

Grade: B+

Harlem Heat defeated Jeff Jarrett and Steve McMichael in 11:56 when Booker T defeated Steve McMichael by pinfall with a Heat Seeker after McMichael got distracted arguing with Debra. At one point during the match, Jeff Jarrett had been thrown to the outside and Sister Sherri got some cheap kicks in on him.

Grade: B-

Mean Gene Okerlund interviewed Lex Luger by the entrance area, and Luger said that Hollywood Hulk Hogan got lucky last night, and that at SuperBrawl VII against the Giant, Hogan wouldn't be so lucky. Mean Gene brought up the possibility of other nWo members getting involved, and Luger said he was well aware of that. That's when he started talking about the conclusion of Souled Out, when Sting was up in the rafters. Luger said neither he, nor anyone in WCW, nor anyone in the nWo, know what is going through Sting's mind. Luger then said that he knew what was going through his: that Sting needed to set aside whatever ill feelings he had from everyone, himself (Luger) included, wrongly accusing him of joining the nWo. Luger said he sincerely apologized for jumping to conclusions and said that now, more than ever, WCW needed one of their franchise players. The crowd was buzzing and the announcers talked to Gene in his headset, and he and Luger looked up to see Sting up in the rafters, baseball bat in hand. He just simply stood there as the show went to commercial.

Grade: B+

WCW World Tag Team Championship

The Outsiders defeated The Steiner Brothers in 15:21 when Scott Hall defeated Rick Steiner by pinfall with a handful of tights, which replacement referee Nick Patrick ignored. Patrick had come in to replace Randy Anderson after he accidentally got knocked out with a Steiner Line from Rick Steiner after Scott Hall ducked. During the match, we had Madusa slap Hall when he went outside the ring to talk smack to her.

Grade: A

The Outsiders win the WCW World Tag Team Championship.

The Outsiders hightailed it out of the ring, WCW Tag Title belts in tow. Nick Patrick was about to exit the ring, but the Steiners grabbed a hold of him. They told the Outsiders to watch as Scott hoisted Nick onto his shoulder while Rick went up to the top turnbuckle to deliver a Doomsday DDT to Nick Patrick, sending a clear message to the Outsiders that their days were numbered.

The Fountain of Misinformation's Rumor Mill

What a crazy past couple of days from WCW. We had nWo Souled Out this past Sunday night, which turned out to be a better PPV than I expected, even if the lack of announcing experience between Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase drug it down a bit. And last night, WCW delivered a great post-PPV Nitro that saw new Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko already putting his title on the line and retaining against Juventud Guerrera in a really good fast paced bout, even if the fans weren't as loud for it as they were for the main event, but that's OK because the main event of the Outsiders regaining the WCW Tag Titles against the Steiners was very good. I really dug the post-match beatdown to referee Nick Patrick, writing him off for the time being. From what I'm hearing, he'll be taking the next couple of weeks off to sell the beatdown.

Speaking of referees, WCW has signed three new refs who got started last night on Nitro. A warm WCW welcome to Mickey Jay, Charles Robinson, and long time Dallas Sportatorium referee during the eras of World Class, USWA and GWF, James Beard. Mike Rapada debuted this past Sunday night on Souled Out as one of the low card workers trying to separate Randy Savage and Curt Hennig during their wild brawl. Seeing as that Rapada was used as an extra, I'm going to stick to my guns about the possibility that he's been brought in to put others over. As for Curt Hennig, I'm interested in both the match between him and Macho Man at SuperBrawl, and I'm interested to see where they go with this free agent angle.

Irony can be pretty funny sometimes. Just a little over a year ago, WCW declared war on the WWF by launching Monday Nitro. Well, New Japan has apparently declared war on WCW! Eric Bischoff reportedly approached Antonio Inoki about breaking off their working agreement as Bischoff had plans for Ultimo Dragon and didn't want New Japan wearing him out. This apparently infuriated Inoki, leading to New Japan declaring war on WCW. I don't think WCW is sweating bullets about New Japan.

Now to recap last night's offerings. Nitro started off with a great opening, and really never looked back. The Benoit/Konnan match could have been better, but at the same time it served its purpose in advancing the storyline Chris Benoit is in against Kevin Sullivan. I already mentioned how stoked I was with the Hennig/Savage angle, and I dug both of the face turns from last night as Ultimo Dragon knocked out Sonny Onno, turning face, followed up by Lord Steven Regal and Squire David Taylor turning on Earl Robert Eaton, which turned him face (and most likely back to being Bobby Eaton). The segment with Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Eric Bischoff, Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton was really good. Glad to see that Bischoff is looking to push Vicious & Delicious. Overall, I give this show a 90.

Meanwhile, my friend watched Raw, and I have to say, from what he told me, I'm pleasantly surprised. The Undertaker and Vader apparently are still doing their angle as they were involved in a backstage segment; they got Hunter Hearst Helmsley away from the hog farmer and had him retain his IC Title against Blackjack Bradshaw; Bret Hart defeated Sycho Sid in a non-title match (let's see if this goes anywhere, though); and the WWF seems to really be behind Mankind's face turn as he teamed up with Shawn Michaels in a losing effort to Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith. Overall, I give that show an 84. The TV ratings seem to reflect this as well as Nitro brought in a 3.6, while Raw brought in a 2.1

In other wrestling news, Universo 2000 is apparently pissing off other workers in AAA as he's kissing up to various workers that he perceives as having some pull backstage. Meanwhile, Dennis Stamp will be booked as he signed a Pay-Per-Appearance deal with the USWA. Joanie Laurer also signed with the USWA. From what I understand, she trained at Killer Kowalski's school, and has been romantically linked with Hunter Hearst Helmsley. That's it for today's posting. See you all around the bend.
