Dawn of WMMA [HYPE/BETA]

Recommended Posts

I remember having fun with the Fresh Start mod that did exactly that in the past. 1989 might be a little extreme to start from imo, but I guess you can always jump in later after the AI takes care of things.

I'm finally into TEW now after all this time of not playing it, so I won't be doing databases no more, but if someone were to 'fix' the default db...

I'm talking to you. Yes, you, attentive reader/lurker! You too can contribute to the community! :p

In regards to fighting histories I might be talking out of my ass here but I wonder if it would slow the game down had Adam added fully fleshed out fighting histories. I mean I have no clue if that is the case or not but it seems like it might be the case.

Why would it slow the game down? It's basically just there. The AI only takes it into account when naming events (unless I'm talking out of my ass here <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />). We're talking about a cosmetic aspect here that is mainly for the human player's viewing pleasure. Adding companies and workers, now THAT would slow the game down as it constantly checks for employment opportunities, local fights, etc. I'm pretty sure he didn't add it either out of time constraints or simply because he thinks the majority of the players wouldn't care (an assessment that is probably correct). But a few of us do care, damn it. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The file size might increase a tiny bit, yes, but other than that? <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/confused.png.d4a8e6b6eab0c67698b911fb041c0ed1.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

They had a lot of real life fighters from other sports and made the game so much fun. Is anyone working on this mod?

This is the C-verse version. Afaik in real life mods there's just historical mods. Sometimes there's people like Tyson included for kicks 'n giggles.

Cheers for sending this through: initial thoughts...

I've got a hurdle I can't overcome: all fighters in the original DB have their skills based in 2001, and even though the clock has been dialled back to 1991, they don't lose skills. So I'm concerned that loads of fighters will be absolute beasts if they get another 10 years of training to further improve.

What I would like to do is reduce everyone's ability by 33% I think, but there is no easy way of doing this...

I've deleted all companies not in the starting default DB so that they don't appear and randomly spawn fighters not in the original game, and will reimport them in 2001 to minimise the new fighters in the game to rival the main players.

Otherwise I can edit companies, fighter momentum, heat, esperience, cage/ring comfort, aura, etc to reflect 0 fights, reduce belt prestige to work how I would like.

But the overall skill levels is difficult - I tried just reducing everything by 15, but it nerfs the lower level fighters far too much, which is why a percentage decrease would have been better.

If anyone has any ideas of how to effectively and relatively easily reduce skills to reflect 10 years less training I'm all ears, as the idea of this DB is really attractive.

The only problem with decreasing skills levels is that I'm not sure the potential stat is set on many (if any) fighters so those who still want to play a game where a lot of the top guys still reach the top would be frustrated unless the potential stats all got an overhaul too.

Like I said in my initial post this mod (as stands) is just meant to be an idea. Id love to put more effort into it and make it a fully developed mod but I definitely don't have the time to do it on my own.

EDIT: Keep us updated on the changes you make to your database and what does and does not work

I remember tinkering with the potential stat for this mod in WMMA3 but I failed to program fighters like Hassan to become stars. Even with potential 100 he still sometimes turned out to be a total can. If we can't guarantee he will be who he is now, I'd rather have the stats untouched too. Don't worry: you won't get a database full of 100-stat fighters. The destiny stat will take care of that.

But don't waste your time. All the potential stat does is limit potential. It still depends on destiny, which is out of our reach.

Also I have played fairly far into this mod and haven't really had any balancing issues to note.

I ended up creating a fictional start DB, which got me the rubbish early fighters I was looking for, but there's no life or character to the fighters, which is what appealed with your modded DB. Will fire this up again!
