[HYPE] 2006: Shifting Sands

Recommended Posts

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I had to go to the dentist a week or so ago to have a tooth removed and the pain it's caused has been astronomical so I've basically been living on pain killers ever since, and if I had replied sooner, I'm sure my response wouldn't have made much sense. xD Unfortunately, that's also meant progress on Shifting Sands has been a little slower than I would have liked but I'm about half way through WWE's roster.

I wouldn't personally call it a "wrong" but yes - yes you can. xD I honestly thought about going back a couple of months so I could include Eddie Guerrero but - I don't know why - I always prefer starting my modifications in January.

Wow, you mean I've been saying it wrong this whole time? Thanks for pointing it out. :p

Yeah, I've seen a couple of people update modifications from TEW10 but I figured 2006 is a year that deserves to be done properly. I hope it lives up to expectations.

That surprises me to be honest because even though they were the "same guys", they were real quality guys, so didn't bore me nearly as much as the current crop of "same guys" do in real life. Although Cena was the World Heavyweight Champion at the start of this modification, he hadn't really become the face of the company at this point so that's what I'm looking forward to the most to be honest, seeing who people choose as their face of the company.

Thanks, I look forward to seeing peoples reactions when it's completed so hopefully you stay hyped throughout the process. xD

One thing I've noticed so far- Maybe raise Sting's pop a bit, he should be a B- IMO.

Really looking forward to this one! Already hyped man.

I hope it lives up to the hype. :)

Yup :p

I'm really glad you're tackling this time period though. It'd be great launching the ECW Brand.

That's actually one of the main reasons I wanted to do a modification for this time period, so the ECW brand can be done properly. If I didn't have this mental block about starting in January, I would have started it in June so the player doesn't have to add the brand themselves.

I'm hyped for this just like I was for when you started 1970, Mammoth xP

And when this gets released....my first game through......it will be time for Randy Orton to become the Face of the Company! :D NOT CENA!!!! :D :D :D :D

Well I'm still very happy with how Territory Daze turned out, so I hope Shifting Sands comes out the same. xD As I've said before, I think that's one of the more attractive things for a lot of people, potentially changing the "face" of WWE before it even started. I've personally always liked Cena (no, I'm not 12 :p) but I can think of so many other names who I might give the mega-push to.

Well, he's already a lot more popular than TNA (they're 45 across America except the South East) and WWE is only 70 across America so I'm reluctant to make his popularity more than the WWE. I could maybe put him at 70 though, which would make it a C+? I'm not so opposed to that, I'm just opposed to having him bigger than the 'E.

I think 70 is perfect. He'd still be more over than WWE's upper mid card, and at best, as popular as their main eventers.

Ah, I didn't see WWE's pop. That would be perfect then

Any updates on the release? I plan to do a Youtube series on this! :)

Even though I'm not Mammoth....I'd say release is a good 3 to 11 months away.....I'm basing this on the amount of time it took for his 1970's mod to be released, if you are wondering. However, information should be easier for Mammoth to get on this time period....but he does have all the title lineages to update from 1970 if he carries over those titles....ANYWAYS, it's only been 19 days since he revealed this project.

Just a quick update: I've basically finished the entire active roster of the 'E (which is huge by the way; I haven't been slacking I've just had to do a lot of work for their roster) so I've just got the out-of-ring talent and injured workers (as Wrestlingdata.com accumulates rosters using match results and such like so if a worker is injured they won't show up) to do. By my estimations, that's just over 50 workers to do with Personalities, Managers, Referees, Road Agents, Colour Commentators and Announcers included. I'm hoping when WWE's done, things will develop a little quicker as I can't imagine any of the other rosters coming even close to the size of the 'E's. I'll try to put another sample together when I'm done because there'll be a lot more for people to poke through at that point with the sudden influx of workers. If people are going to play as WWE, I think they're going to have to get their firing fingers out and/or open the third brand (ECW) a lot sooner than planned. xD

Okay, here is the next update that my last post eluded to if you're interested:

Download Links: Database Preview & Picture Pack Preview

IMPORTANT: I can't stress this enough as I know some people were confused when I did this with Territory Daze, the links provided are simply a preview, it is not the finished article.

It's (as far as I'm aware) the complete WWE roster minus the developmental talent, although there are some that were appearing in dark matches at this time that were easier for me to add now. As usual, if you find anything wrong or anything that I may need to know about/add then I'd love to hear about it. :)

I would love it. Really excited for this one, thanks for the work <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></div></blockquote><p> I might give it a go because when Shifting Sands is done, it should be relatively easy to rewind/fast forward from that point (a year or two anyway) because it's only really contracts and popularity I'd have to change. So I'm not promising anything but if everything goes well, I'll certainly give it a thought. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p>

Oh my god so many opportunities! No RVD winning money in the bank, Pushing Kennedy to the moon, booking orton and cena in their prime and i get to decide who breaks the streak! I cannot wait for this, I just don't know if i want Rey to with the Rumble.

Finally Carlito will win the World Title at New Years Revolution, then drop it to Edge seconds later. I can't wait for this mod.

Seems interesting, Who are you going to have when the rumble?

and who do you plan on putting your two world title matches?

For me depending on my roster size, i might have edge win the rumble, then cash in later on in the night. Then have him vs Undertaker to unify the titles. With Taker winning it.

But if The roster is big enough, i will keep the titles seperate.

It depends on your changes of course, but the roster at the start of the game is absolutely huge so I'd be more inclined to bring in the ECW brand early rather than trying to make it into one.

Just to let y'all know, I'm still working hard on this modification behind the scenes. I haven't been responding because no one has really asked any questions, and I've just been enjoying your responses in terms of looking forward to it and in terms of what y'all plan to do when it's released. I'm glad you're all looking forward to it but there's still a long way to go, unfortunately. I've just finished Ohio Valley Wrestling so that means four promotions are done (TNA, WWE, ROH and OVW) and I plan on doing another preview when Deep South Wrestling (WWE's other child promotion) is done which will hopefully be done in a couple of weeks at the most. :)
