Unbreakable Will: Diamond Canvas Grappling

Recommended Posts

The big man, with a gigantic body, slapping his chest, and crossing his arms. He entered the arena, side by side with his ownership partner, as he looked up towards the small arena... he laced up his intricate mask, from the back, and onto the entrance ramp, in front of a few dozen fans.

"Welcome to UNBREAKABLE DIAMOND CANVAS WRESTLING"
he shouted, but not in those terms, as he was overseas, in Kanto, Japan. It wasn't an introduction to the promotion, that would be a proper Puroresu event, showcasing the ancient Roaring Lion tradition showcased in Golden Canvas Grappling, and mastered in Black Canvas Grappling.

Rather, it was the introduction to the a future superstar, an introduction to one of the greatest puroresu practitioners of all time... at this time, he was simply known as...

An Introduction to "Unbreakable" Diamond Canvas Grappling

This diary follows the Road To Glory of Burning Tora, an 18-year old Japanese Puroresu Wrestler from Japan who wears a Tiger, pronounced "Tora" in Japanese, mask. This is a "speedrun" of a Road To Glory and a "guide" to succeeding in the Road To Glory.

What is Road To Glory?
A Road To Glory is a set of "challenge rules" imposed upon a normal game of TEW. The goal is to star in a A* rated (or 95-99) match in a National Promotion. Your Avatar is a 18-year old wrestler who is the head booker of a "backyard fed" in particular one with no popularity, no momentum and only 1,000 in the bank. This is often referred to as a 0/0/1000 Federation.

Why did you choose Japan? I
n my opinion, Japan is by far the easiest route to win a Road To Glory. The major reason is the "loyalty system". Japanese unemployed Young Lion wrestlers with certain personality attributes (humble) will become loyal to a promotion that hires them (barring them already being loyal to another promotion). Workers who are loyal to your promotion cannot be poached.

Why and how do you run a touring company?
As a touring company, I can sign workers to "Touring Contracts", which I only pay during the months during a tour and automatically expire afterwards. Touring Workers are willing to re-sign immediately after the Tour Ends. This cuts costs considerably.

A key cost-cutting measure allows me to keep a "traditional" touring schedule (1/Show Week) and not go bankrupt. I use my Avatar as both the company's road agent and as a color commentator -- this improves his skills and cuts my overhead, as the avatar costs $0 per appearance. It helps to keep tabs on who you've already used during a month, and spread out your workers over several shows.

Touring Companies are only active part of the year. I set my touring months initially to April, May, June and October, November, December (I moved my second tour to November, December, January after the first tour). This allows you to "stash money" during your off-months for extra shows during your "on months" -- I start with 8 shows/tour and 16 shows/year, 4 more than a monthly company.

UDCG Starting Roster

The Main Event

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Austin_Smooth_zpshh86ni3e.png

Austin Smooth

Overall Pop:
None

Lightweight, Technician

Smooth is a Greenhorn from the northeast. He was unemployed when we took a flier on him, and he has a certain star quality that has put him over.

From A RTG Standpoint:
Austin was a legitimate surprise. I didn't expect him to Auto-Push to the Main Event, which means that he will get over. I took a flier on several wrestlers from across the world.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Frozen_Tora_zps0zyd5em9.png

Frozen Tora

Overall Pop:
Unknown

???, ???

Loyal to UDCG

Frozen Tora is a masked character part of "Tora Squared". There are some who claim he is played by multiple wrestlers over time. Frozen Tora is a bit smaller than his partner.

From a RTG Standpoint:
I introduced "Frozen Tora" as the "partner" to Burning Tora, who is the subject of this diary. In every Road To Glory, I aim to have teams with positive chemistry notes, and under the current mask is a similar wrestler to the current Burning Tora. He was initially signed to a pay-per-appearance deal to gain loyalty and soon signed to a touring contract to cut costs.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Kiyotaka_zps0gyfo8ft.png

Kiyotaka

Overall Pop:
F

Middleweight, Puroresu

Kiyotaka is a young lion who graduated the Tokyo Dojo. He is a strong performer who has the popularity and the performance skills to debut as a champion. As a Middleweight, Kiyotaka is a bit small, and he may lack the physical skills to compete. Kiyotaka competes as a curtain-jerker from BCG.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Kiyotaka is the early favorite to win the Unbreakable Championship at our inaugural event at UDCG. He is one of our few employees working regularly on tour with another Japanese company, the rising BCG. This gives him the advantage of additional experience to improve his performance skills.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Sir_Winston_Watoga_zpsifjjjk9b.png

Sir Winston Watoga

Overall Pop:
F

Middleweight, Regular Wrestler

Sir Winston Watoga is a rookie from Japan. He has a unique gimmick in the Japanese independent scene, portraying an upper-class British "heel" who turns his nose up to the crowd. Watoga has a solid-all around skill set plus Star Quality and good entertainment skills.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Sir Winston Watoga is a favorite to hold the Unbreakable Championship. Winston Watoga works with the touring Hinote Dojo Promotion, the child league for Burning Hammer, and it should help his development. He is always on my shortlist for a hire in Japan, and can be a future star in Japan.

Upper Midcard

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Burning_Tora_zps7evuxmgd.png

Burning Tora

Overall Pop:
None

???,???

Burning Tora is the second of two legacy characters who were created with UDCG. The man under the mask is unknown, and some have stated that several wrestlers have used the gimmick. Burning Tora is a bit larger than his partner.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Burning Tora is currently my user character. He is a (Big Heavyweight, Puroresu). I always leave space for my wrestler to gain two sizes to increase Star Quality and (especially) Stamina. For a big wrestler, you can raise the size to Giant, and almost always the wrestlers star quality and stamina will increase as a result.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Mabuchi_zpsxeeoqbtq.png

Mashashi Urogata

Overall Pop:
None

Light Heavyweight, Regular Wrestler

Mashashi Urogata is a PGHW product who is working the independent scene for experience. After three years, SAISHO has yet to pick him up, and he has yet to get over in Japan. He is a solid all-rounder with great physical skills.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Urogata is a solid performer. However, not being picked up by PGHW and his lack of Charisma may prevent him from returning. The odds are good he will return for our second tour.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Isuruso_zpsf5vyfnzz.png

Isoruso Akiraki

Overall Pop:
None

Heavyweight, Brawler

Isoruso is a young Heavyweight rookie from Japan. Isoruso has considerable size, but lacks polish, and is fairly one-dimensional.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Isoruso was another pickup who works for a touring promotion. Isoruso works for SAISHO, the Pride Glory Honor Wrestling Affiliate, and it should do wonders for his development. Isoruso has a chance to be a major player, but it depends on his overall performance.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Nigel_Svennson_zpsphrlroil.png

Nigel Svensson

Overall Pop:
None

Middleweight, Technician

The Super Swede is an unsigned gem. He is willing to work in several countries, and brings solid technical abilities and great physical ability. He is a veteran presence.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Svensson is a great hand. He lacks the star quality and charisma to really shine in the ring, even in a performance fed, but he will be a fixture on the roster. "The Nige", as he is known backstage, will remain on the roster as long as he's inexpensive, but will likely never be a top guy.

Midcard

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Victor_Beskov_zpsklsj9zty.png

Victor Beskov

Overall Pop:
None

Heavyweight, Puroresu

Victor Beskov is a product of the UK National School of Wrestling. He is one half of the "Red Devils" with fellow powerhouse Yuri Illiakov, and has star potential but lacks the polish of his partner. He was on a pay-per-appearance deal with 21CW after graduating last year.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Victor Beskov is one of the two Red Devils. I buy both the Red Devils from 21CW on Exclusive Contracts, and after they leave 21CW, I re-sign them to a touring contract. They are solid performers who can become great given the experience. I closely monitor the National School of Wrestling Graduates in every RTG and poach anyone I can want.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Yuri_Illiakov_zpsxgtnyp0s.png

Yuri Illiakov

Overall Pop:
None

Heavyweight, Puroresu

Yuri Illiakov is the other half of the Red Devils. Slightly smaller and less physical than his partner and close friend, Illiakov has better performance and slightly less upside.

From a RTG Standpoint:
The Red Devils are good backstage presences and have a positive backstage relationship. In any performance feds, both Red Devils should be considered, and in RTG, you should sign them where available. Neither is over in Japan, so they can be hired on the cheap.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Edison_Silva_zpseq33dk8d.png

Edison Silva

Overall Pop:
None

Lightweight, MMA Crossover

Edison Silva is a recent graduate of the National School of Wrestling who works in 21CW. The rookie has developed a quasi-MMA gimmick to gain attention. His name is a take on MMA Fighter Manuel Silva. We took a flier on him to fill out the roster, but he will have to impress to stay with the company.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Silva may have a decent chance to make the roster, but he'll have to improve to make the next tour. Unlike The Devils, I don't have a whole lot of faith in Silva, who is signed to just a Touring Contract. He is unlikely to be a long-term fixture in UDCG.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Sterling_Whitlock_zpsfnedwvev.png

Sterling Whitlock

Overall Pop:
None

Middleweight, Puroresu

Whitlock is the protege of the Japanese Legend Alexander Robinson. With his background in Puroresu and a solid all-around game, he has the potential to be a solid hand. Whitlock is a bit raw three years into his career, and he'll need to show improvement to gain a roster spot.

From a RTG Standpoint:
Sterling Whitlock is a character I hire consistently in a RTG. He is inexpensive and has serious potential. He will need to show improvement to become a staple of UDCG. Whitlock is based in Canada, and the chances of him being offered a contract to Japanese federation is slim.

Staff

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Staff/Oouchi_zpsi13e8di9.png

Mozaemon Ouchi

Owner
and
Announcer

My boss, and longtime puroresu fan. He enjoys the spectacle of Puro, and is one of the better announcers in Japan. I like to joke he is the Japanese Version of the former "Irvin Rotunda Smith", a slovenly wrestler who played an evil tax collector famously in Richard Eisen's 80's SWF.

From a Road To Glory Standpoint:
This man is one of the major reasons to choose a Japanese company. An owner will be your "most expensive" employee -- for someone who starts as a "potential owner" Mozaemon is inexpensive and a good backstage presence, and is a good announcer and color commentator for an inexpensive price.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Staff/Tawazara_zps3scu5eft.png

Matsuyo Tawaraya

Referee

For a Man with only two years experience in the business, Matsuyo is awful good at slapping the Mat. He is an associate of Ouchi, who first met him during Black Canvas Grappling's First Tour.

From a Road To Glory Standpoint:
Tawaraya fill several disparate criteria for a referee. He is under 28, still improving, and he starts as a referee for the touring promotion BCG, so he'll have a lot of dates to tour. Matsuyo is the promotion's head case (extremely negative backstage influence). A Head Case is important for unlocking "Motivational Speeches" and as many great talents also have great egos, I prefer this form of pre-show speech to the Psycho Sermon. He gives me a number of "backstage issues" before shows to ignore or lightly punish him for, and in return, Matsuyo boosts my image towards the right corner of "velvet glove/loyalty".

UDCG Presents...The LION still ROARS I

Burning Tora vs. Kiyotaka

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Burning_Tora_zps7evuxmgd.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Kiyotaka_zps0gyfo8ft.png

I entered down the ring ramp to muted applause. I was opening up the very first show on the very first tour for my promotion. It was a classic head booker decision. My opponent, Kiyotaka, was one of the most over wrestlers on the roster, and it was my job to see if he fit the bill. Kiyotaka worked over me, solid, for several minutes, landing ferocious hard punches to my chest, and working over me on the ropes. I clench my claws and hiss at Kiyotaka playing up my character and begin to make a comeback, throwing him towards the ropes and flooring him with a spinning drop kick, and working him over. The plucky Kiyotaka reaches for the ropes, and displays his fatal flaw. It took eight minutes for him to wear thin, clearly lacking the Stamina to work a longer match. Kiyotaka knocked me back with a large axe-handle, and rolled up the "Burning Tiger" for the three-count victory.

Kiyotaka d. Burning Tora with a flash pinfall victory.

Mashashi Urogata vs. Sterling Whitlock

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Mabuchi_zpsxeeoqbtq.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Sterling_Whitlock_zpsfnedwvev.png

I retreated to the desk, next to my business associate announcer Mr. Ouchi. We laugh for a bit at the promotion we've started. The two mid card wrestlers, both green and looking for a position on the roster, run out, one representing the States and the other Japan. Mashashi, as he is known, was the natural baby face, but his gimmick didn't go down well with the crowd. The two put on the performance of their young lives, a swift, old school technical bout, with Mashashi getting the majority of the offense as we had planned. The match was very even, and the finish came out of the blue, when Mashashi ducks under a clothesline and slams Sterling Whitlock with a backdrop Suplex.

Mashashi Urogata d. Sterling Whitlock by pinfall.

Edison Silva vs. Frozen Tora

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Edison_Silva_zpseq33dk8d.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Frozen_Tora_zps0zyd5em9.png

The first of four wrestlers billed from Britain entered to no reaction at all. The crowd didn't seem to think he was a believable character, and the way he would soon stink up the ring, I had to agree. It was a few seconds later when "Frozen Tora" entered. He hi-fiver my hand and jumped over the announce desk on his way to the ring. Edison got a bit of offense in, but Frozen Tora seemed to be one step ahead, and managed to get the crowd on their feet when he hit the Fusion Reaction and covered for the quick pinfall. Or, maybe they were cheering Silva no longer gracing the ring.

Frozen Tora d. Edison Silva by pinfall.

Nigel Svensson vs. Sir Winston Watoga

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Nigel_Svennson_zpsphrlroil.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Sir_Winston_Watoga_zpsifjjjk9b.png

We announced him from "London, England" but he was more definably Japanese than either member of our "Japanese" Announce Team. Watoga doesn't speak a lick of English, but he draws crowd heat like a cigarette near a puddle of gasoline and burns the stadium down with it. He isn't quite as good a wrestler as a talker, but "The Super-Swede" takes him through the motions, and the two engage in slick chain wrestling, with Winston Watoga cheating at every chance he can, practically begging Matsuro Tawaraya to give him clean space each time he goes into the corner. The referee is happy to oblige and ignore his consistent eye rakes, and after one of those Watoga grabs the tights and rolls up Svensson for a three-count. We all loved this match, but Watoga would have to prove himself with a less capable opponent.

Sir Winston Watoga d. Nigel Svennson with a flash pinfall.

Mashashi Urogatavs. Sir Winston Watoga

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Mabuchi_zpsxeeoqbtq.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Sir_Winston_Watoga_zpsifjjjk9b.png

Mashashi comes out to make his second appearance. He either isn't willing to carry Watoga or isn't able to. It doesn't help that the two wrestlers repeat the same spots from the last match, but Urogata isn't the master technician Svensson is, and Watoga begins to struggle with the longer match time. The match starts to fall apart towards the end. The finish sees Watoga wrench Mashashi with the ropes for leverage forcing him to submit with a Boston Crab hold.

Sir Winston Watoga d. Mashashi Urogata by Submission

Frozen Tora vs. Kiyotaka

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Frozen_Tora_zps0zyd5em9.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Kiyotaka_zps0gyfo8ft.png

Frozen Tora jumps over the announce desk, high fives me, and slides into the ring. Kiyotaka enters to face the second half of the "Burning Tigers" and the serious MMA grappler slams several hard strikes into the Tiger. It was clear the nerves were getting to Frozen Tora, the wrestler in his current incarnation was a recent Tokyo Dojo graduate making his first professional appearance. Kiyotaka did well to bring his opponent up to speed with realistic tracks and speedy chain wrestling. The extra burden wore him out, and Kiyotaka began to struggle a bit towards the end. He won't go far in Puroresu with such a small gas tank. Kiyotaka finally gets Frozen Tora to submit with his Kimura Lock after several near falls.

Kitoyaka d. Frozen Tora by Submission

UDCG Unbreakable Tournament Final

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/TItles/Unbreakable_zpspx0v79we.png

Kiyotaka vs. Sir Winston Watoga

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Kiyotaka_zps0gyfo8ft.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Sir_Winston_Watoga_zpsifjjjk9b.png

Monazumon Ouchi asked me "are you sure?". I said "yes, I am positive.. this is best." There was a short break before the final, and I'd called for an "audible finish", one we practiced just in case. The crowd were hot for Kiyotaka as he charged the ring, slid in, and posed for the match. Sir Winston Watoga drew a lot of heat walking slowly down to the ring. He motioned for Matsuyo to open the ropes for his "royalty" Watoga, and Matsuyo thought for a second before doing so. The match bell rang, and Kiyotaka rushed Watoga, landing several sick punches before arm dragging Watoga into the corner. The "Royal Wrestler" hits a low blow, and knocks down Kiyotaka with a leg sweep. He begins furiously to expose the ring turnbuckle and Kiyotaka charges at him, but he ducks under and Kiyotaka slams into the exposed turnbuckle, rolling to the mat. Watoga covers... there is a kick out, and the two run the ropes. Kiyotaka is clearly gassed, and as we had drawn the match up with him going over, the match began to fall apart rapidly. I begin cursing under my breath. Watoga slaps on a Camel Clutch, and begins a few rest spots, that seem to resuscitate the quiet crowd. Matsuyo Tawaraya checks Kiyotaka's arms to see if he is passed out. Kiyotaka furiously struggles to the ropes, and the "Royal" Watogan is forced to release his hold. The two struggle to their feet, Kiyotaka ducks under a clothesline and Watoga slams into his own exposed turnbuckle! He picks up the smaller Sir Winston, and goes for a Suplex from the ropes, but Watoga punches him in the gut, and tries to reverse it... but loses his balance, causing both wrestlers to plummet to the mat! For several seconds, the crowd remains silent, as Matsuyo begins the ten count... neither wrestler moves a muscle for ten solid seconds! The bell rings and Matsuyo Tawaraya declares the inaugural UDCG Title bout a draw!

The Match Ended in A Draw Due to Double Stoppage called by Matsuyo Tawaraya after both competitors couldn't beat a ten count. The Unbreakable Championship is still Vacant.

UDCG Presents...LOCKED in the LIONS DEN 2014!

I opened the show with a microphone in the ring. It was a new, almost free, feeling. I called over my partner and UDCG owner Mozaemon Ouchi, and we run down the card in theatrical fashion. We finish with the "Main Event", a highly hyped rematch from three months ago between Sir Winston Watoga and Kiyotaka.

The match opened up the UDCG Unbreakable Tandem Tournament with a makeshift team of Whitlock & Svensson and 21CW graduates "The Red Devils" Victor Beskov & Yuri Illiakov. The Red Devils were brought in to "anchor" the Tag Team division, and while both wrestlers are talented and have a ton of potential, they don't work well as a team. The Red Devils dominated the match, throwing around the Swede like a rag doll and battering the smaller Whitlock, forcing him to make a hot tag to an exhausted "Super Swede" Nigel Svennson. Yuri Illiakov brutalizes Svensson with the Moscow Dynamite, covering him for an easy victory.

Beskov & Illiakov d. Svensson & Whitlock by pinfall.

Austin Smooth & Edison Silva vs. Burning Tora & Frozen Tora

I leave the announce desk in the capable hands of Sir Winston Watoga. Frozen Tora runs down the guardrail slaps my hand, and we both jump over the announce table. We pull on the ring ropes and launch are staunch bodies into the ring. Smooth and Silva enter soon after, to little fanfare, and the back-and-forth match runs a blurring place. My partner, Frozen Tora, begins to tire, his heavy body holding him back. I take the majority of the workload in the match, facing off against both Smooth and Silva, shaking off the two-on-one offense and shenanigans. I slam Silva with a hard clothesline, Smooth tries to make the save... but I duck and throw him over the rope and tag in Frozen Tora for the Tiger Swipe Squared on Edison Silva, and cover for a three count.

Burning Tora & Frozen Tora d. Austin Smooth & Edison Silva by pinfall.

Unbreakable Tandem Title Match

Burning Tora & Frozen Tora vs. Victor Beskov & Yuri Illiakov

I stay in the ring with my partner. The cage descends, as the winners from the opening match enter. I plan to work this as a "singles match" with two participants. The tag rules are still in effect, and I start the match against Illiakov, who I outsize considerably. I work over the smaller heel, but he uses underhanded tactics, with Victor Illiakov gut checking me. I manage to eventually get the upper hand on Illiakov, and he tags in his comrade, and Beskov and I face off. We have an extensive test of strength, Beskov pushing my heavy body to the ropes, before laying in several stiff MMA punches. I manage to hit a leg sweep on Beskov, who stumbles into the cage wall, and tag in Frozen Tora. Tora has a limited gas tank, so he runs several quick spots on Victor before powerslamming him onto the mat and covering him for a pinfall victory.

Burning Tora & Frozen Tora d. Victor Beskov & Yuri Illiakov by pinfall. Burning Tora & Frozen Tora are the inaugural Unbreakable Tandem Champions!

UDCG Unbreakable Title Match

Kiyotaka vs. Sir Winston Watoga

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Kiyotaka_zps0gyfo8ft.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Sir_Winston_Watoga_zpsifjjjk9b.png

I hold up my Unbreakable Tandem Title and strap it onto my waist. Frozen Tora high-fives me as a I retreat to the announce desk for the next match. I remind Ouchi to get over that this match "must have a winner" and we go over the spots as the entrance music drowns our chatter. I get over that Watoga has been talking himself up as the "uncrowned champion" and "last man standing" and that the two have been active on the UDCG Unbreakable Tour. The cage descends on the two individuals. Kiyotaka offers his hand to Sir Winston Watoga... but Watoga grabs his arm and wrenches it into a Crossface Chickenwing! We state our referee, Matsuyo Tawaraya, is forced to abide by regular match rules, so Kiyotaka can reach for a rope break. He indeed does, and Watoga is warded off rather quickly. After a few seconds, Watoga lays off. Ouchi insists that "rules of honor" apply and a wrestler who indeed "strikes a referee" would face a "tour-long suspension", hence why Watoga is abiding by the rules. Watoga throws Kiyotaka into the corner, rakes his eyes, and throws Kiyotaka across the ring with an arm drag into the opposite corner. Watoga gets up to the turnbuckle, but Kiyotaka low blows him, and he stumbles from the rope, but lands on his feet! The two run the ropes, Watoga ducks under a clothesline, and trips up Kiyotaka, who bumbs in and out of the ring ropes before stammering into the cage wall! Kiyotaka stumbles to the mat, Watoga hits another arm drag, and props up Kiyotaka for German Suplex from the top rope. He covers for the pinfall victory!

Sir Winston Watoga d. Kiyotaka by pinfall. Sir Winston Watoga is the inaugural Unbreakable Champion!

UDCG Gears up for THE TRADITION TOUR:

Unbreakable Diamond Canvas Grappling is gearing up for its second tour: UDCG Presents The Tradition Tour! The tour will kick off with a tournament for the mantel of ROARING LION! 12 wrestlers have been signed for the upcoming tour, including a total of four fresh faces! A press release introducing the new names is listed below.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Kyuchi%20Matsumoto_zpsyfk6pxpb.png

Kyuichi Matsumoto

Overall Pop: None

Light Heavyweight, Brawler

Loyal to UDCG

Kyuichi Matsumoto is a rookie Japanese Brawler making his professional debut on the UDCG Tradition Tour. One of three rookies, Matsumoto has strong physical abilities, but is green.

From a RTG Standpoint: Rookies are cheap filler for a roster, and it is a good idea to take a flier on a couple of them to see if they have the potential to move up the card.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Lion_Genji_zpsd1ohq1yj.png

Lion Genji

Overall Pop: None

Light Heavyweight, Puroresu

Loyal to UDCG

Genji, who five years ago graduated from the prestigious Tokyo Dojo, has been pegged by many experts as a Diamond of the independent scene. At 24, Genji's first taste of regular employment is UDCG, and many wonder how he will fare in this environment.

From a RTG Standpoint: Genji appears to have major promise, but he'll have to prove it in the ring. At 24, he is older and more expensive than other members of the roster, and has less time to improve.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Motoyuki%20Miyaki_zps2bz486wx.png

Motoyuki Miyake

Overall Pop: None

Lightweight, Regular Wrestler

Loyal to UDCG

Miyake is a Japanese Rookie with an MMA-inspired arsenal of moves. He has the look of a star with a blue MMA getup that is sure to get the crowds attention. He has a cold-blooded appearance.

From a RTG Standpoint: Like Kiyotaka before him, Miyake's career will be defined by his stamina. If he is easily gassed, Miyake won't last long in UDGC, however, if he can overcome his small size and show himself a hardy competitor, Motoyuki could earn a permanent place on the roster.

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Naozane%20Goto_zpskfspqgqw.png

Naozane Goto

Overall Pop: None

Big Heavyweight, Puroresu

Loyal to UDCG

Goto is a former Sumo wrestler who transitioned to Wrestling at a young age. A 22-year old Rookie, Goto is a work-in-progress but has shown solid performance skills on the independent scene.

From a RTG Standpoint: Goto is an unknown quantity other than his Sumo background. His major hurdle will be avoiding fatigue. If he can keep his gigantic gas tank full, Goto has a shot to stay on the main roster.

UDCG Presents...SERVANTS in RING, KINGS in JUNGLE 2014

Austin Smooth vs. Isoruso Arakaki

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Austin_Smooth_zpshh86ni3e.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Isuruso_zpsf5vyfnzz.png

Austin Smooth entered the arena the clear favorite against a wrestler twice his size. The fans knew Isoruso Arakaki. He had several impressive outings on the Unbreakable Tour. Match bell hit and the outcome was immediately clear. Isoruso crushed his smaller opponent, throwing around Smooth like a rag doll, toying with the smaller technician, who tried desperately to reach for the ropes, before Isoruso crushed Smooth with the Isoruso Spike, and covered for a pinfall victory.

Isorosu Arakaki d. Austin Smooth by pinfall.

Kyuchi Matsumoto vs. Lion Genji

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Kyuchi%20Matsumoto_zpsyfk6pxpb.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Lion_Genji_zpsd1ohq1yj.png

There were high expectations for this match given the pedigree of Lion Genji. However, from the start, the match turned into a hot mess. Kyuchi felt some big-time nerves in his debut in the big-time, and Genji couldn't carry him to a good match. The two blew several spots, with Genji getting the majority of the offense, slamming Kyuchi with the Fusion Reactor and covering him for the victory.

Lion Genji d. Kyuchi Matsumoto by pinfall.

Motoyuki Miyake vs. Nigel "The Nige" Svensson

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Motoyuki%20Miyaki_zps2bz486wx.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Nigel_Svennson_zpsphrlroil.png

The crowd didn't notice the scruffy, small man with bright blue boxer shorts and tape on his fists. Of course, the tape was just for effect, as it was discarded before ringside. His opponent, "The Nige", has a reputation for great performances, but not a whole lot of victories. The two immediately went to the mat, with Motoyuki tenaciously going after his larger opponent, using his low center of gravity to his advantage. He knocked Nigel from his feet several times, and held an early advantage, forcing Nigel to squirm for the ropes after applying a leglock. Nige manages to make it, and after a few seconds, Motoyuki releases. The two exchange a number of holds, but "The Nige" seems to be two steps ahead of the young rookie, reversing a chickenwing attempt into the hyper extension arm lock, forcing Motoyuki to cry uncle.

"The Nige" d. Motoyuki Miyake by submission.

Burning Tora vs. Naozane Goto

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Burning_Tora_zps7evuxmgd.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Naozane%20Goto_zpskfspqgqw.png

It was the first of my three matches that night. I jumped over the steel guardrail, high-fived my current partner, and slid into the ring. I started the test of strength with the brutish Naozene. There were several pushes and a few shoves, as I forced the heavier sumo wrestler into the ropes. I bound his hands and arms and unleashed several chops, before he spilled out onto the mat, tumbling face first. I grabbed him by the knot in his hair, but he gut checked me with a powerful kick, and powerbombed me into the mat. He went for the cover, but I threw his heavy body off with authority! We both got up to our feet, slowly, as Naozene charged at me, and I picked him up and wrenched him in the Gory Special before slamming him into the ground with a Gory Backbreaker (Gory Bomb). I covered Goto for a pinfall victory.

Burning Tora d. Naozene Goto by submission

Lion Genji vs. "The Nige" Nigel Svensson

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Lion_Genji_zpsd1ohq1yj.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Nigel_Svennson_zpsphrlroil.png

The fans cheer "The Nige" for his earlier clinic. The crowd is especially hot for this match, as "Nige" is quickly becoming a draw, and Lion Genji is one of our most over wrestlers. The two fan favorites shake hands, but the Wiley Nige tries to lock in the Hyper Arm Extension Lock, which Genji powers out of in an impressive spot, and goes for a cross-face chicken wing! The Nige manages to stumble to the ropes in the nick of time, but Genji refuses to let go of the hold, and Matsuyo Tawaraya threatens to DQ Genji, but he lets go right before the three-count ends! Nigel sells his arm awful well, moving slowly around the ring in severe pain! The two run the ropes, and Nigel manages to duck under a clothesline, and catches Lion Genji in the sleeper! Genji is unable to power out, but Nige's arm is clearly giving way, and he has to release the hold! The relieved Genji falls exhausted to the mat. Svensson begins gut checking a prone Genji with kicks who retreats into the corner, and Matsuyo threatens Nigel with a DQ if he continues kicking... and Nigel backs off after a heated argument while Lion Genji exposes a turnbuckle! Nigel charges at Lion Genji who dodges and Nigel slams his hurt arm into the exposed turnbuckle, the impact causing the Swede to wince in pain, and Lion Genji rolls up the distracted Nigel for the flash pin.. 1... 2... 3...

Lion Genji d. Nigel Svensson by Flash Pinfall

Burning Tora vs. Isoruso Arakaki

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Burning_Tora_zps7evuxmgd.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/EMLLJ/VS_zpspivbo7et.pnghttp://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t602/SoulshineSeeker/UDCG/Wrestlers/Isuruso_zpsf5vyfnzz.png

The next match sees me face off with Isoruso Arakaki. I laid out the match with the design to get Arakaki over. There is an immediate test of strength, with Isoruso pushing me backwards hard into the ropes, and slamming me with a clothesline to the floor. Arakaki picks me up, prepares a powerbomb, but I reverse it into a neckbreaker, and about pull off the move... but Arakaki reverses the neckbreaker and lays me out with a swinging variant of his own! He goes for the cover...1...2... I kick out right before three. The two of us run the ropes, I duck under a clothesline, and go for my own powerbomb... but the heavy Isoruso slams him feet to the ground, sending me stumbling backwards hard into the ropes, and hits me with the Isoruso Spike... 1...2...3!

Isoruso Arakaki d. Burning Tora by pinfall.

Unbreakable Tandem Title Match

I lay in the ring for several seconds, selling the attack, as the next match is announced. I crawl to my feet as my partner leaps over the announce table and high fives me before standing at ringside. He motions me to go first, but I stay in the ring, as The Red Devils come to the ring for the Tandem Title Tournament Rematch from LOCKED in THE LIONS DEN 2014. Victor Beskov squares off with me first, winning a test of strength and throwing me like a ragdoll with a belly-to-back Suplex. He throws me into the corner, and the two perform a tandem underhook suplex, with Yuri going for the cover... but Frozen Tora breaks it up! The two work over me with a variety of kicks before Victor tags in and throws me into the ropes with a Arm Drag, but I duck under his clothesline and nail him with a vicious superkick! I fall over from exhaustion and manage to crawl over to ringside and tag in my partner. Beskov makes the tag to Yuri Illiakov and the two run the ropes, Frozen ducks under a clothesline and grabs Illiakov and hits a vicious pop-up Powerbomb! Frozen Tora makes the cover... 1...2...3... Victor Beskov is a split-second too late! Yuri Illiakov is furious, and the two confront Matsuyo Tawaraya, argue in with him extensively in a thick, harsh Russian tone, before retreating up the entrance ramp in disgust.

Burning Tora & Frozen Tora d. Victor Beskov & Yuri Illiakov by pinfall. Burning Tora & Frozen Tora make defense #1 of their Unbreakable Tandem Titles!

ROARING LION TOURNAMENT FINAL

Lion Genji vs. Isoruso Arakaki

Arakaki enters the ring to mild applause, followed by Genji, who is welcomed by the crowd with abandon! Isoruso is an unstoppable monster in this match. He throws his smaller opponent around with reckless abandon, hitting shoulder tackles and several clotheslines. He kicks his downed opponent, before putting Genji in the Camel Clutch and is if on instinct alone, Genji manages to stretch his foot over the bottom rope and Matsuyo Tawaraya has to count to three and threaten to DQ Isoruso before he lets up. Isoruso kicks his downed opponent another time, and throws him to the turnbuckle, slamming Genji's forehead into the covered buckle, and going for his Diamond Lariat... but Genji ducks under it! He hits a roundhouse kick, and a backhand forearm, causing Isoruso to lose his balance before careening into the ropes... and using the momentum to smash Lion Genji with a fierce Diamond Lariat! Isoruso covers Lion Genji with one foot to a chorus of boos... 1..2..3...

Isoruso Arakaki d. Lion Genji by pinfall. Isoruso wins the Roaring Lion Tournament!

The four individuals enter the arena in random order. The crowd noticed the local favorite Austin Smooth, but the fervor usually present for his entrance was reserved. Naozene Goto, a regular on the tour, received a modest reaction. Kyuchi Matsumoto and Motoyuki Miyame entered to no response. The match starts as a frenetic brawl, with all four individuals recklessly throwing punches. Naozene Goto overcame Motoyuki Miyame and clotheslined him over the rope. Goto launched a splash from the top rope, but Motoyuki moved out of the way in a split-second, and Goto slams into the ring railing. In the ring, Austin Smooth worked over Kyuchi Matsumoto, forcing the smaller wrestler to submit!

Motoyuki Miyame slides into the ring. He faces off with Austin Smooth for several seconds, before the two charge at each other, with Smooth ducking under a clothesline and putting Miyame in the Sharpshooter! Motoyuki Miyame initially tires to reach for the ropes, but begins to start bridging out, suffering intense pain before managing to reverse the hold and push off Austin Smooth with a swift kick! Austin Smooth staggers towards the ropes, Miyame launches a Knock Out kick that floors Smooth! Miyame covers Austin Smooth for a clean pinfall!

Motoyuki Miyame eliminated Austin Smooth by pinfall! Motoyuki Miyame d. Austin Smooth, Kyuchi Miyamoto and Naozene Goto in a fatal-four-way elimination match!

The fans outpour applause for "The Nige" as if he were a hometown hero, wildly cheering the Swedish wrestler. The Nige steps over the middle rope, and stands atop the turnbuckle for several seconds before returning to center-ring. He is up against Lion Genji, who the crowd vociferously antagonize before going completely silent. Lion Genji and Nigel Svensson face off for several seconds, before each individual tried to pull the legs out from other each other. Nige puts on the crossface chickenwing and signals for his signature Hyper Extension Arm Lock, but Lion Genji slams his strong elbow into Nigel's forehead! He knocks the Swedish wrestler to the ground and slams him with several swift kicks before running the ropes and going for a Running Leg Drop but Nigel Svensson rolls out of the ring just in time! He gets atop the top rope and goes for the Sunset Flip, but Lion Genji breaks out at one, throwing Nigel to the ropes! Lion Genji and Nigel Svennson run the ropes, with Genji grabbing Svensson from behind with a Dragon Sleeper, but Svensson reverses it and signals for the Hyper-Extension Arm Lock, slapping on the hold and Lion Genji was forced to tap out!

Nigel Svensson d. Lion Genji by Submission! Nigel Svennson is the #1 Contender!

Frozen Tora ran down the runway and slapped my hand and jumped over the announce desk! I enter the ring with Frozen Tora, holding up our Tag Team Championships, as the team of Illiakov and Beskov enter the ring. The four wrestlers brawl in the ring for several seconds before Matsuyo Tawaraya enforced order. I face off against Victor Beskov, slamming several hard chops before slamming Victor into the ropes, smashing him with several hard chops. Illiakov breaks up the spot, tags himself in, as a fuming Beskov stirs at the side of the ring. I tag in Frozen Tora to complete the double tag, and Frozen Tora and Yuri Illiakov face off in the ring. Frozen Tora dominates the younger Yuri, throwing him to the ropes before hitting a wicked lariat on the rebound that knocks Yuri cold. Frozen Tora covers Yuri Illiakov for the victory.

Burning Tora & Frozen Tora d. Victor Beskov & Yuri Illiakov by pinfall. Burning Tora & Frozen Tora make defense #2 of their Unbreakable Tandem Titles!

Arakaki enters the ring to a loud reaction. He is the good-guy compared to Watoga, the crowd cheer the powerhouse wrestler. Champion Sir Winston Watoga enters to a hostile crowd. Arakaki pearl harbors Watoga from the bell ring and lands a vicious lariat on Watoga and Isoruso slams his foot onto the mat signaling for the Guillotine Leg Drop but Watoga rolls out of the ring and Isoruso comically sells after hitting the ground! Watoga grabs his unbreakable championship from ringside and slams the trailing Isoruso Arakaki with a belt shot! He slumps Isoruso Arakaki against the Announce Table before nailing Watoga with a Guillotine Leg Drop! Sir Winston Watoga climbs into the ring and instructs referee Matsuyo Tawayara to begin a ten count! After only a few seconds, Isoruso Arakaki charges into the ring, and aims a clothesline at both Watoga and Referee Tawaraya but both duck under it, and Isoruso crashes into the ropes and uses the momentum to slam Watoga with a vicious left-handed lariat! Isoruso goes for the pin, 1..2... Watoga manages to get a foot on the ropes!

Isoruso argues for several seconds with Tawaraya who threatens to DQ him! Watoga recovers, moves himself towards the ring apron, before Isoruso charges towards Watoga with a running knee, but the Champion dodges out of the corner and Isoruso Arakaki slams his knee into the middle turnbuckle! Sir Wintson Watoga manages to roll up a stunned Isoruso from behind...1..2..3... Arakaki kicks out right after the three count! Arakaki is furious and starts yelling at the referee, before angrily storming up the ring rope!

Winston "The Unbreakable" Watoga d. Isoruso Arakaki by flash pinfall! Winston "The Unbreakable" Watoga makes defense #2 of his UNBREAKBALE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Year In Review -- 2014: Burning Hammer

from December 31st Edition of Wrestleman's Corner at

Burning Hammer had a tumultuous 2014. The company was wrought with accusations of corruption, particularly on the part of Head booker Tasuku Iesada, who was in an alarming number of PPV Main Events during both the Ragged Glory and Reach Down Tours. The year did feature some redemptive moments, including a series of solid multi-man main event tags, but the staggering lows at the start and finish of the show overshadowed the fleeting highs.

Burning Hammer of The Wrestling Gods completed what critics degraded as "Burning Hammer's Minor League Tour" in June 2014. The tour, under the unfortunate name of Ragged Glory, featured a severe lack of main event title matchups and broke with tradition consistently.

King of Fighters:
Yoshiko Taira

Burning World Title:
Kinnojo Horri

Burning Junior Title:
MYSTIC Dragon

Burning Junior Tag Team Title:
American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther)

Burning World Tag Team Title:
Kawate & Shirashi (Sessue Kawate & Sanetomo Shiraishi)

Burning Hammers'
Ragged Glory
Tour was marked for failure from the beginning. January's Fire Dream of the Immortals was widely panned as the worst Burning Hammer Event in several years. The Burning Hammer World Championship match with Champion Kinnojo Horri defeating the Challenger Chuichi Sanda headlined the show. The 43-year old tag team specialist Chuichi Sanda never held a singles title, the four-time World Tag Champion with Eiji Hamacho. The company did a poor job of building Sanda as a challenger. Chuichi Sanda's lone two Heavyweight Division victories were back-to-back wins over Team Inspire in a two-week rushed build. Kinnoji Horri, the most popular wrestler in the company, had the fifth best match on the January Fire Dream of Immortals with the underserving Chuichi Sanda.

The failure of the first leg of the Ragged Glory tour culminating in the traditionally booked PPV
Fire Dream of the Immortals
led head booker Tasuku Iesada to break violently from tradition. A five-match series was announced between "The H-Bomb" Hiroaki Nagasawa and the Burning Champion Kinnoji Horri and simmering tension between the powerhouse Tag Team "Black Magic" consisting of Yasuhiko Taira and Yasuhiko Masuno. The Burning Hammer World Champion lost four straight matches to start the February leg of the Ragged Glory tour including losses to Junior Heavyweight Champion Mystic Dragon, head booker Tasuku Iesada and his first match with Hiroaki "H-Bomb" Nagasawa.

Konnoji Horri went 3-2 for the rest of the tour and knotting the series with Nagasawa a week before the PPV. The dismal fortunes of the Burning World Champion drew criticism but the match was highly anticipated. The long-awaited match between members of Black Magic, Yasuhiko Masuno and Yasuhiko Taira, would headline with Taira's King of Fighters Title on the line. Critics widely suspected the match would disappoint and at Test of Prophecies. The widely panned
King of Fighters
title match was considered the worst match on the card with both participants exhausted by the 15-minute mark. The May PPV S
word of Destiny
became a must-win with PGHW nipping at their heels.

Tadakuni Toshushai became the #1 Contender to the Burning World Championship after Horri won a five-match series. Toshushai won five straight singles matches in a three-week build, his only loss coming in a six-man elimination tag where he teamed with Horri. This included a victory over the Burning World Champion in a world-title match. Konnoji Horri teamed three times with Toshushai, going 2-1, and defeated Hiroaki Nagasawa on the tour date before the PPV. Tadakuni Toshushai was a heavy favorite in the Championship Match at
Sword of Destiny
. Konnijo Horri defeated Tadakuni Toshushai in a classic match widely praised as Burning Hammer's best during the Ragged Glory tour. Burning Hammer's Sword of Destiny received intense critical appraise. Hiroaki Nagasawa pulled a terrific match in a non-title win over Yasuhiko Taira, and a surprising match between Natsu Miyame and American Optimus stole the show. The booking was widely panned within the wrestling community despite the overall success of the show. A major champion had lost a non-title match to a challenger for the second time in a month, and Kawate & Shiraishi remained tag team champions in an absolute stinker of a match.

Inferno of Purity
was the last PPV of the Ragged Glory Tour. The PPV is reserved for the Burning Junior Cup. The defending Junior Champion Mystic Dragon was widely proclaimed as the clear favorite to win with Marihito Masuko tabbed as a Dark Horse. American Optimus, one-half of the Junior Tag Team Champions American Panther, defeated Marihito Masuko to win the PPV. Speculation centered Optimus was given the strap after an impressive outing with Natsu Miyame at Sword of Destiny. Sword of Destiny received a mixed reaction with the exception of the well-received main event. American Optimus stated the next night he would not cash in his Junior Championship title shot at September's Quest of Heart Event. Runner-Up Marihito Masuko, who beat Mystic Dragon in the Semifinals of the Burning Junior Cup, was named the #1 Contender to the Burning Junior Championship in lieu of American Optimus. Speculation centered that Optimus was booked to hold off on his title shot to build suspense over his chase of the "Junior Triple Crown". He would be the first wrestler to hold all three titles and the only one to win the Burning Junior Cup and hold both the Burning Junior and Burning Tag Titles in the same year. American Optimus was scheduled to defend the tag team titles alongside Red Panther against
Hachiguro & Maeda
at Quest of Heart.

Head Booker Tasuku Iesada made an immediate adjustment to quell criticism. On the go-home show for Inferno of Purity PPV, Kawate & Shiraishi lost to a makeshift team of Toshika Shibanumo and Murai Enumoto. They were an obvious in-ring improvement Kawate & Shiraishi, but quickly pegged by many as transitional champions. Many critics, the same ones who panned the decision to put the titles on Kawate & Shiraishi, Iesada should have staved off on a title change until the next PPV.

Burning Junior Cup 2014 Champion:

Burning Junior Tag Team Title:

Burning World Tag Team Title:

King of Fighters:

Burning World Heavyweight Title:
Kinnojo Horri

The upcoming
Quest of Heart
PPV was building to a champion vs. champion match with Burning Junior and King of Fighters on the line. Burning World Champion Konnijo Horri in an extremely hot storyline had an opportunity to unify the two titles at Quest of Heart. The booking of the match received immediate criticism. Many traditionalists were upset that the historic matchup did not headline the next month's
Night of the Burning Hammer
. Outrage was expressed when the title unification match was announced as a lead-in to the main event of Tadakuni Toshushai and Head Booker Tasaku Iesada against heralded new signing Bryan Vessey and Sensational Dragon. Quest of Heart was critically acclaimed, and the main event was well received, but it enraged loyal fans of the promotion, who claimed Tasuku used the main event to satisfy his out-of-control ego.

Tasuku Iesada made several troubling decisions in his booking of the prestigious
Night of the Burning Hammer PPV.
The final date before
Night of the Burning Hammer
, the October 16th 2014 edition of the Reach Down Tour, saw the climax of a year-long storyline. American Optimus cashed in his Burning Junior Title Shot in a surprise move defeating Mystic Dragon and completing the Junior Heavyweight Triple Crown . American Optimus is the only wrestler to hold all the Junior titles at the same time. Speculation centered the move was made so Optimus could defend the Burning Junior Tag Team Titles at Night of the Burning Hammer, but instead he defeated Elemental III in his first defense of the Burning Junior Title.

Black Magic won a five-match series with Team Inspire, one half of the former tag champions Yasunobu Masuno was named the #1 Contender to the Burning World Title. Masuno, while over, was not a great in-ring worker. His partner, Yasunobo Tiara, held the King of Fighters Title, and had a win over the champion, so he was the obvious choice to hold the stipulation. Yasunobu underachieved in the average semi-main event, with the main event consisting of a six-man tag consisting of Bryan Vessey, Yasunobu Taira, and Tadukuni Toshusai defeated Sensational Dragon, Head Booker Tasuku Iesada and Hiroki Nagasawa. The match ended indecisively as the Junior Sensational Dragon took the pinfall from Bryan Vessey, who earned a King of Fighters title shot at Everlasting Mission.

The major surprise of BHOTWG
Night of the Burning Hammer
was the makeshift team of Heihachiro Sakai and Hirokumi Saito defeating Murai Enumoto & Toshika Shibanumo with a Tandem Exploder Suplex followed by a double pinfall for the Burning World Tag Titles. Lead announcer Toru Minamoto named the tag champions "The Exploders" and the name stuck with the rabid fans of Burning Hammer.

Critics widely panned Night of the Burning Hammer PPV. The 6-man Main Event and the Burning World Tag Title Match received mild praise, but the majority of the card was a letdown. Japanese fans accused BHOTWG Head Booker Tasuku Iesada of using his position to out-smart fans by rushing logical storylines to premature conclusions. The questionable booking decisions reinforced public perception that Tasuku Iesada was using the prestigious wrestling company to boost his own ego. The following edition of the
Reach Down Tour
did nothing to dissuade these accusations.

On the Saturday October 19th, 2015 edition of the
Reach Down Tour
, Tasuku Iesada brought the house down in a highly anticipated World Title #1 Contenders Match where he defeated his longtime partner Taduki Kikkawa. The event received a mixed reaction. The casual fans of Burning Hammer praised the hard-hitting, well-booked old-school thirty-five minute match. The fervent loyal fan base chalked the head booker naming himself #1 contender as further proof of Iesada's uncontrolled ego. The general perception within the larger wrestling community was that Kikkawa was a better worker and more deserving contender.

The Burning World Championship match between Champion Konnijo Horri and Challenger Tasuku Iesada was announced as the main event for Decembers' Silencing Dragons PPV. A star-studded six-man tag was scheduled for the main event of Novembers'
Everlasting Mission
PPV. Black Magic and Team Inspire continued to feud on the Reach Down tour, with one half of Black Magic, King of Fighters Champion, Yasunobu Taira, claiming by virtue of Black Magic's best of five series victory and his own victory over the champion, Taira deserved a second shot at the World Title. Team INSPIRE defeated Black Magic for the second time in a row and Iesada secured his title shot for Silencing Dragons on the go-home show for Burning Hammer's Everlasting Mission PPV.

Tasuku Iesada silenced doubt about his worth as a #1 Contender in the six-man Main Event of
Everlasting Mission
PPV. Iesada, along with World Champion Horri and big man Masuno defeated Taduki Kikkawa, Hiroki Nagasawa and Tadiyuki Kikkawa in a Match of the Year Candidate. King of Fighters Champion Yasunobu Taira defeated Bryan Vessey in a King of Fighters Championship Match and American Optimus drew with Elemental III in a Burning Junior Championship Rematch from BHOTWG
Night of the Burning Hammer
. The PPV was highly praised with some detractors stating it was a one-match card with Taira's disappointing title defense. After he again defeated rival Kikkawa in the Main Event, Tasuku Iesada had his eyes on Kinnojo Horri's Burning World Championship.

The highly anticipated matchup occurred on December 2nd as part of the Reach Down Tour, with Kinnojo Horri defeating the challenger cleanly in a non-title match. Many thought this would pre-empt Iesada to name a new #1 Contender, but Tasuku did not use the opportunity to appoint someone else. Their re-match was for Horri's title was the main event of
Silencing Dragons
. Tasuku Iesada had defeated King of Fighters Champion Yasunobu Taira in a non-title match on the Reach Down Tour less than a week prior. The highly anticipated match was disappointing. The PPV was considered one of Burning Hammer's worst offerings of 2014, and the challenger Iesada accrued much of the blame. American Optimus defeated Marihito Masuko in a rematch from the finals of the Burning Junior Cup to retain the Burning Junior Title. The match was clearly not as good as the original.

Burning Hammer's up-and-down year finished with a whimper leaving many to question the prestigious organization's management. Tasuku Iesada's decision to push himself did not pay off despite early returns. American Optimus' historic title win headlined a nondescript go-home tour and he made his first defense the next day. Tasuku Ieseda reinforced the status quo with unconventional booking decisions. Burning Hammer put over the old guard in 2015 and hesitated to promote younger wrestlers.

Burning World Title:
Kinnojo Horri

Burning Junior Title:
American Optimus

Burning Junior Tag Titles:
American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther)

Burning Junior Cup 2014 Winner:
American Optimus

King of Fighters:
Yasunobu Taira

Burning World Tag Title:
The Exploders (Heichiro Sakai and Hirokumi Saito)
