Wendi recovers from the attack and floors Candi Devine with several rights 58 So close to equaling the women's tag match :(

Not the greatest two shows around, but they did gain me the tiniest bit of pop in each region. Ricky Steamboat did sign his enormous contract so he'll debut on next week's TV show. I'm having to chase 2 more superstars. One of them is due to Georgia doing everything they can to tick me off. After their huge purge, they signed a few more mediocre wrestlers to Written deals which evidently triggered another purge of PPA contracts. Basically, they fired everyone high up on the card not named The Road Warriors. So, I'm signing Don Muraco because I would have gotten him if they'd just sold me their fed like they should have. Also, I'm in a bidding war to get Adrian Adonis as I have some plans for him, and mainly because he's got a 93 psych.

The TV show should be up Friday night. Sorry for the delay.

Adonis may had not looked it, but he was one of the finest technicians in the world during his life. He had the skills in the ring and on the microphone. He had a gimmick that was given to him as punishment and made himself one of the most hated men in all of professional wrestling. His wife said that Adonis hated the gimmick and hated the fact he let himself go and was working on losing the weight when he died. I also read somewhere Crockett was wanting to bring him in before he died.

USWA Wrestling Sat. Week 1

Alexander Memorial Coliseum Atlanta, GA

Attendance: 9,427 out of 10,000

Rating: 84/B+ Improved in all 11 regions

TV Rating: 0.70 +0.07

We don't start the show at the announce desk. The camera is backstage heading towards a voice. It finds Jake Roberts chatting with Jimmy Hart. “And then I gave him that second DDT sending Dutch to the hospital. After those other 3 jumped me Monday night, I can't wait to get my hands on any of them soon. I'm going to break them in half. You don't jump me from behind and get away with it.” Hart is enjoying himself. “You're doing great kid, and you've got a match with Tommy Rich in the main event tonight!” Then he leaves Roberts muttering to himself stunned by the reveal. Rating: 76

Egads! A Street sighting! And he picks up the squash win too! Rating: 59

Eddie Marlin calls both Ron Wright and Jackie Fargo to the ring. “There's been wild accusations thrown around and some fisticuffs Monday night, and we're going to settle everything right here, right now. Ron snatches the microphone out of Eddie's hand. “I want to tell you something. This jerk over here tried to beat me up Monday night. Now, either this man works for USWA, or he is a manager. If he is an employee, I'm going to own this company when I sue you.” Jackie has his own mic. “Sure looks like I did more than try to beat you up. Oh wait, you've always been that ugly. I'm sure you've got some backwoods lawyer with 5 teeth all psyched up thinking he's going to get rich.” Marlin is between them now and snatches the mic back from Ron. “Enough! Mr. Wright, you can't sue anyone. You might want to read your contract some time. The action occurred at an USWA event, and Mr. Fargo has a manager's license.” He turns towards Fargo as Ron sputters. “However, Mr. Fargo, Mr. Wright makes a few good points. You're lucky that you didn't hurt a fan with that wheelchair stunt, and since you want to get involved, you can't be our backstage interviewer anymore.” Fargo fumes “My boys kept their titles though so it was worth it, well and that stupid look on your face when the wheelchair crashed into you. They can beat your so-called Legacy Studs any day of the week and twice on Sunday.” Wright smiles, “Challenge accepted! Bama Thunder is where we take those titles from you.” He smugly rolls out of the ring. Rating: 64 Seriously, I don't understand how it dropped 16 points from Monday. Marlin improvised really well.

As we return from commercial break, we go back to the Legacy Stud's locker room, though all 4 are in street clothes. “Fabulous Ones, your manager just signed your death warrants by giving us a rematch. There won't be any extra falls to save those titles from coming to where they belong.” “Fargo! You screwed us out of those titles once, but you aren't going to get the chance to do it again. These two men are going to be watching you like a hawk. The two of you are just keeping those belts warm for us. Returning to the scene of the crime to defeat you goofs is just icing on the cake.” “The old man won't be any issue. After I put this cowbell on him, everyone will know when he's coming close.” “Or, we can just shove it down his throat. That will at least shut him the heck up.” Rating: 83 Nobody screws up this week!!!

Jimmy Valiant gets a nice crowd pop in his return from his one week vacation. He starts off a little slowly still selling the effects from Legacy, but eventually, he turns the match around as the massive experience difference makes all the difference. Valiant wins cleanly. Rating: 62

Sarge comes storming out of the back and heads straight for the announce desk. “Who let this man back into a USWA ring? He doesn't belong here after I took this title from him and knocked him out cold.” “Now Sarge, Jimmy has a contract, and he has been cleared to return to action. However, he's not going to invoke his rematch clause in his contract at Bama Thunder.” “Yeah Lance, I heard that, but I've searched all backstage for anyone who could tell me who I'm going to face. So who is it? I'm the champion here, and I deserve to know who that idiot Marlin found under a rock to lose to me in a few weeks.” “Well, I don't have that information, at least confirmation on the rumors I've been hearing. I don't get told everything, you know.” “So what's the rumor?” “Well, I'm going to step back over here because I don't think you're going to like it. Mr. Marlin didn't find him under a rock. He found him on a boat named Dragon.” Sarge's eyes grew three sizes that day as a lot of the crowd figured it out since that man wrestled in Georgia some time ago and started cheering. Sarge's face turned beet red with rage, but all he did was take his title and the American flag and leave. Rating: 87

Since Randy has to defend his TV title later on in the show, Rogers steps in to team with Lanny. No chemistry either way for them, but it was a solid tag team match. TNT keep getting the better of the Poffos though as they knew what was going to happen. Rogers has some momentum, but Pritchard reverses the irish whip straight into the right hand of Angelo. A quick roll-up for the win by TNT Rating: 69

While Debbie is distracted by the finish of the match, she doesn't see an ambush coming in the form of the Women's champ, Candi, and The Glamour Girls. Fortunately for her, her friends in the back were watching the monitors and turn this into a fair fight. The fans get to enjoy an epic girl fight complete with hair pulling and a few punches. Finally, security comes out to a chorus of boos to break it up. Rating: 55

The First Family are backstage in their locker room. Hart starts “Hahaha! It looks like our road keeps getting easier. First, that hairy, disgusting Dutch Mantell gets sent to the hospital, and now, it looks like Tommy Rich could join him. That will leave only that shrimp and the so-called King that I made. We've retooled and come up with some new strategies to deal with the lot of you. Your days around here are numbered.” Idol does the rest of the talking. “Rich, if you somehow come out of your match tonight in one piece, I'm going to enjoy breaking you. You had your chance to work with this phenomenal man, and you squandered it. Your fans won't be able to save you from me, and mark my words, King and the shrimp aren't going to help you either because they know they can't beat me. Rating: 76

This is two weeks in a row now. Maybe I need to have Savage and Rich feud based on Tommy pushing Randy out of the TV main event? A very academic result, but Dean continues to impress with his technical skills. Just not enough to accomplish much yet. Randy Savage makes his 6th successful title defense. Rating: 80

As noted above, two weeks in a row for Rich in the main event. The competition was much improved along with the heat Jake has gained since Legacy meaning the entire crowd was on the edge of their seats all match. It was mostly a brawl with a few breaks for actual wrestling with both sides being equal. The match looks like it is heading for the end when Jake snaps and stops breaking until 4. Tired of Jerry pulling him off, he shoves him and hits a low blow that sends Rich to the floor. As Calhoun is calling for the bell, Jake gets an ugly grin on his face and rolls out to the floor saying “Company is coming Dutch!” Tommy Rich wins via DQ Rating: 87

The crowd and announcers are all screaming NO!!! when Jake kicks up the mat exposing bare concrete. He sets Tommy up for the DDT, but Rich shoves him away. Jake feints going right back for it again, but when Tommy moves his arms up to block, Jake hits another low blow. Now that the fight has left Rich, along with him singing bass for awhile :p, Jake sets him up...When out of the back comes Lawler with a chair! King slams it across his back ending the threat as Lance says that's all the time we have and signs off. Rating: 74 The match was just too good.

The site was screwed up earlier. Yes, Al. I really liked Adonis and his feud with Piper was amazing. He was part of two legendary tag teams too. Hopefully, I will get him and Muraco signed soon. Both offers look good. The bad news is that Georgia did indeed make a lot of money off their two shows Saturday (about $65k) so it may be a race to see if they're still negative at the end of the month. They may not die until the Black Saturday narrative kicks in next year.

That's officially the best Louisville show yet, and a sell-out too. Somehow Muraco, who can start immediately, hasn't signed with me yet, but Adonis, who has a 7-day wait, has. Steamboat is officially on the roster, and Dutch is back from his kayfabe 2-week injury vacation. And in one of the things I really wish Adam would add in the future is for Cult feds to sign their UMC and ME to Written deals immediately upon jumping. It's annoying to see Kevin Von Erich jump from WCCW to MACW. MACW added Junkyard Dog too. Basically, MSW and CWF are getting gutted while somehow AWA has barely been touched. I'd add that PNW hasn't been hit all that hard if they had anyone worth talking about that wasn't loyal to them.

USWA Wrestling Sat. Week 2

Jacksonville Coliseum Jacksonville, FL

Attendance: 10,000 Sell-Out

Rating: 84/B+ Improved in all 11 regions

TV Rating: 0.74 +0.04

“I'd like to introduce to you the new #1 Contender for the North American Heavyweight Title, and the man that will face Sgt. Slaughter at Bama Thunder live on Closed Circuit PPV in less than 2 weeks, Ricky Steamboat.” “Thank you, Lance. Slaughter, you and I go way back. We've had battles. Hell, we've had some wars, but they all ended the same way. I won. I've been watching you on USWA Championship Wrestling each and every week and what you've done to my good friend Jimmy Valiant.” Sarge comes out. “So, you're here to save your friend from the #1 American? Let me set things straight. I was all set to kick your butt when you ran away. I guess you found some courage elsewhere to come back. Ha, or maybe you just want this beautiful title. Is that it? You claim to be a great wrestler, but you never seem to hold gold for very long. Steamboat, you're going to have the same fate that anyone who opposes America faces, your utter destruction.” Rating: 75 Ugh, Lance continues to flub things.

When USWA has a TV show, we deliver from the start and go all show long. What an epic opening match featuring 3 of the Legacy Studs facing two Latino stars and The Boogy Woogy Man. Unfortunately for the large Latino fan base here in FL, most of the offense on their side came from Valiant as Legacy had control for most of the match other than his occasional flurries. Bob Orton pins Santana cleanly. Legacy Studs win. Rating: 80 Valiant was Kept Strong

E Wright-“You fans just saw a little bit of what we can do. We are The Legacy Studs, the finest collection of wrestling talent and history in this business, and we will be your new North American Tag Team Champions after we defeat The Fabulous Ones at Bama Thunder.” Robert-“You three have gotten on our last nerve, and the last thing you want to do to Southerners is to tick one off. Well, you didn't tick off just one but all 5 of us.” Ron-“Fargo, you screwed me out of a victory against Lawler Tuesday night. The one thing we Fullers don't do is lose to phony kings. Our paths are going to cross again soon, and I'm going to get some retribution.” Bob-”You three keep ruining our matches, and we're going to end your careers. It was funny at first because you can't beat us, but now, you've made us mad.” Golden-”You saw what we did to three people who ticked us off before, and most fans think you're better than them so watch your backs.” Rating: 81 I think Ron Fuller is a lost cause. :(

This match had very little drama to it. Dean continued to shine a little bit, but The Midnights were going to win. Had to cool the crowd off at some point, right? Rating: 63

When we return from commercial break, Dutch is standing in the ring. “Oh, it is good to be back in an USWA ring in front of all you wonderful fans. I shocked the doctors in my recovery to get back 2 weeks sooner than they thought, and I am back for one reason only. Jake Roberts, you picked a fight to make a name for yourself, but you picked the wrong man. I've seen people come, and I've seen people go. Heck, I ran several of them off, and you are just like them. You think you're the best in the world or the baddest man on the planet.” He was going to continue when Jake hits the ring, and a brawl ensues. Clearly Dutch isn't quite at 100% as he holds steady for a little bit, but slowly Jake starts winning all the exchanges. King and Bill see this too, and come sprinting out of the back to stop it. They get several shots in before Jake decides to high-tail it out of there. Rating: 78

Women's wrestling returns to TV. Mainly, just to showcase Wendi and her final chance to win the North American Women's Title from Candi. Susan puts up a good fight, but Wendi picks up the clean win Rating: 57

Stan-“Oh no Steve, we've ticked The Legacy Studs off. What in the world are we going to do now?” Jackie-“Shhh...I'm going to let you two in on a little secret. We're better than they are.” The 3 of them laugh for a minute. Steve-“So the 5 of you all have your panties in a twist. Fargo here only interrupted that match to save the fans from watching King kick your butt even longer. We're The Fabulous Ones, and these titles here say that we're the best tag team in the world.” Stan-”You can be ticked off at us all you want. Heck, bring all that rage to our match at Bama Thunder. It won't help you beat us.” Jackie-”Ron Wright, I'm going to be watching you like a hawk so keep your giant nose out of the match.” Rating: 78

Uh oh, the streak is now 3 weeks. Granted that was because I ran the show in the South East again just to make sure Steamboat's debut was super-high. The competition was higher this week in the form of the non-title holding half of the Fantastics, Tommy Rogers. Has a tag team ever held singles titles without holding the tag team titles? Don't go looking that up because nobody is beating Savage for this title quite yet. Would The Fabs angle dent the match? Nope, because Randy is amazing. Randy retains his TV title by cleaning pinning Rogers. Rating: 83

When you need to get a good guy over in his debut match, who do you call? Yep, come on down Phil. Plus, as the announcers mentioned several times during the match, that was a good warm-up to face Sarge as they're similar in size. Hickerson put up a very good fight just like he always does, but Steamboat unleashed his impressive arsenal of skills to finish him off. Ricky Steamboat wins cleanly Rating: 87

As stated in the match, I ran this show in the South East because Ricky's pop in the GL isn't nearly what it is in the SE. Shockingly, I'm getting the same approx. attendance in both regions now despite the 3 point difference. And sadly, the influx of people annoyed at being in development has now started. Two of them aren't big issues as Fidel Sierra and Velvet MacIntyre are back on the roster. They were at 2/2 and 1/3 respectively on skills improving with really only Sierra's lack of selling being annoying. The Italian Stallion on the other hand can just sit there and collect dust for all I care. He's got very little to improve (2/2), but he's atrocious at everything. Thankfully, he's one of the 4 one-year contracts.

We end the show with Ricky Steamboat getting in Sarge's face with an argument ensuing. 94!!!

Post-Show--The Fabs & Rich Brawl The Fuller Brothers & Idol 71

Well, everyone is on the roster now. Muraco's debut went pretty well. He is a face btw. Adonis will be debuting on TV. Still confused on how he's pushing ME when he's got mediocre pop. I'm also confused on how the Louisville show got an 80. I guess it was the poor opening angle? Lance did finally manage to have a good segment! I am toying with the idea of hiring Boris Malenko though to do the interviews. I thought Barbara Clary, but her mic skill is only 68 meaning I would have to edit all the angles to entertainment as they're in the high 80's. Not sure yet, but I'm tired of Lance bungling things especially since he was a legend on the mic.

Oh, and I can add Snuka to the list of people I'm never hiring. I really wasn't going to, but murder is a deal-breaker for me.

enjoyed catching up on all the action when I got back from vacation.

the Fargo wheelchair angle was awesome and I literally jumped out of my chair reading it (bit of irony too since Ron Wright used a wheelchair as part of his gimmick as a manager for years in SMW)

Glad to see Sarge restore some prestige back to the title by beating that hippy. Just curious if you were to continue his "hippie busting" tour and give him matches against the likes of Rock & Roll Express Gibson and Morton and then later Bobby Fulton and Dr Tom Pritchard if that might help improve his psych ratings some (enough to save his match scores)? Those could all make good TV main events as Sarge seeks out smaller, quicker guys as "tune up" matches before he faces Steamboat.

speaking of which - maybe show some "video" clips of the Sarge-Steamboat tag team feud from Mid-Atlantic to help hype their upcoming match (would expect some decent ratings from them too)

I wouldn't worry too much about time decline with someone like Mr Olympia if you used him as a short term champ. It's not like you plan to make him the champ forever, and meanwhile he could help train some up and coming contenders (get some of your guys in the 70's up to the 80's)

Looking forward to a Savage vs Rich feud. Not sure where Tommy's game pysch rating is, but if you can get to the 80s he could be another worthy contender for Sarge.

was going to suggest that you try a Ron Wright solo promo (and maybe do the same for Ron Fuller away from the others) to see if it helps. Wright vs Fargo in a "point-Counter point" type of face off could be interesting too before the big showdown. A Fuller tag team title reign is needed for a few months to keep some credibility on the Legacy Studs who have been gold as your lead heels so far.

considering that King Jerry Lawler has not been the focus point or top main eventer so far shows what a tremendous job you have done - at some point I hope you give him a break out match because he can surely carry the promotion on top (better than Steamboat who is fine as a title contender and will be wonderful to help a youngster like Shane Douglas get over as his partner some day. I'm hoping after Sarge turns back his challenge that Ricky gets a shot at Randy Savage's title. Steamboat and partner vs Poffo Brothers on alternating cards should enhance your ratings major league). The King vs The Sarge has big time Main Event written all over it in Memphis

keep up the excellent work

USWA Championship Wrestling Sat. Week 3

Tuscaloosa Coliseum Tuscaloosa, AL

Attendance: 15,000 Sell-Out!!!

Rating: 84/B+ Improved in all 11 regions

TV Rating: 0.79 +0.05

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Championship Wrestling. Joining me in the ring is the #1 Contender for the North American Heavyweight Title, Ricky Steamboat. To my left, the North American Heavyweight Champion, “The #1 American” Sgt. Slaughter. Both of you have reviewed the contract, and now if you will both sign the contract for Bama Thunder, live on Closed Circuit PPV Thursday night. Thank you.” Sarge-”I am the best American in the world. This belt around my waist proves that I'm the best wrestler here too. You made a big mistake coming here and trying to take my title. I'm surprised you didn't bring your little Injun friend who carried you in your tag team along to help you fail in defeating me.” Ricky-”Slaughter, you're everything wrong with this country. You run your mouth too much, your ego is huge, and you think there is honor in jumping people from behind. I can't wait to take that title off of you and shut you up. You couldn't beat me elsewhere, and you're not going to beat me now. I'm here to prove that I'm the best wrestler in the world in the top wrestling promotion in the world.” Rating: 79 And Ricky actually did fine unscripted!

Dutch starts the in-ring action off against the returning Fidel Sierra. The only real mystery was if Jake would interfere. He didn't, and Dutch picks up the squash win. Rating: 60

Lance opens “Here is The Fabulous One himself, Jackie Fargo along with someone a lot of people might not recognize.” Jackie-”Let me introduce all of you to my insurance policy. There's an insurance company that says to trust The Rock, and that's just what I'm doing. This is Don “The Rock” Muraco. Legacy Studs, you keep bragging about the numbers advantage you have. This man is worth all of you put together.” Don-”I've wrestled all around the world. I've held titles all around the world, but you won't see me bragging about it. The only studs I know are in walls or horses. The more I've heard you talk, the more I think you should be called The Legacy Donkeys.” Before Lance can say this is a family show, The Fuller Brothers rush them as Wright stands around giving orders. They get in several good shots on both men before the roof almost comes off the building as The Fabulous Ones join the fray to drive them off. Rating: 81

Dutch gets a squash match, so it is only fair for Jake to get one too. Poor Rossi got a whoopin'. He made Jake look great though. Rating: 63

The top two members of The First Family are joined by a biker. Hart starts, “Being the top manager in the world today, I'm always on the lookout for top talent that would fit the Family. So when I heard this Adonis was on the open market, I immediately contacted him to join The First Family. So ladies and gentlemen, this man is Adrian Adonis, and he's going to break those losers you idiots all cheer for in half.” Idol picks it up, “Well everyone except Tommy Rich. That loser is all mine to break. Rich, you called me a replacement. The Idol replaces no one because no one is as good as me. I'm going to send you running back to whatever hole in the ground you popped up out.” Adonis finishes “All I've heard for months is that this is the place to be. Well, Alabama isn't much of a place to be, but Thursday night, I'm going to be in this very ring kicking butt and taking names. I'm here to inflict pain.” Rating: 80

We have our 2nd TV debut as Adrian Adonis gets to face off against Malenko. They put on a quick, but very effective technical wrestling match leaving the announcers to rave about the newcomer. Not much more to the match other than Hart dancing around saying “The Family is complete!”. Rating: 62

The three men facing off against The First Family at Bama Thunder. Jerry starts off, “So you've brought someone new in to try and bring us down, Hart. You've been trying for years, and some guy dressed in leather isn't going to be any more successful than all the other losers who've come before. And Jake, we're all 3 going to be around the ring during Dutch's match. If you try anything shady, we're going to beat you so bad your mother won't recognize you.” Rich picks up, “Idol, you can run your mouth all you want. I'm the one that won the NWA World Title when it was relevant, not you. I have all these fans behind me, and I have these men behind me. One thing we all agree on is that we hate your guts. You can bring the Thunder. You can even bring your loud-mouth loser. I'm bringing these two Tommy Guns.” Bill finishes it off, “It doesn't matter who you send up against us because we'll keep knocking them down. This team has a Superstar on it, and that's why we're winning, daddy. Rating: 80

This is the kind of match most shows run as their main event or at least semi-main. Mando and Jimmy didn't have great luck last week against The Legacy Studs, but they had pretty good luck against the two big thumpers in The First Family. Well, for most of the match, but the ending came from the 5th member of the match as Hart clocked Mando in the back of the head with the megaphone as Mr. Olympia nailed him with a nasty clothesline for the tainted victory. Rating: 80

We run an announcement that the Southern Tag Team Titles are coming back, and that the two matches at Bama Thunder will also be the semi-final matches with the final coming to you live next week on TV. All 4 teams say a little bit about how they can't wait to get those titles around their waists. Rating: 72

The streak is now a full month long. Bad news for Randy is that I may keep running almost all the TV shows in the South East as the pop difference is huge on too many people. Ricky is improving mightily for someone who refused to go down to development, but he isn't even close to Savage's league. It didn't even go the 10 minutes, ending in 8. Randy retains his TV title by cleaning pinning Santana. Rating: 83

Welcome to a brawl. Muraco is new to this feud, but he caught on pretty fast. Poor Calhoun had his hands full as at least 4 people were in the ring for most of the match and throwing punches. The announcers did announce that the tag team title match will take place in a cage to prevent interference, and speaking of interference, when Wright and Fargo weren't almost coming to blows, they picked fights with members of the opposing sides. With all the chaos going on all over the place, no one could hear Lance announce over the PA that there was only 2 minutes left. Those 2 minutes ran out still with no pin attempts in the entire match. Oh, the bell didn't stop the brawling. Lance signs off, “We'll see you this Thursday night at Bama Thunder or at your Closed Circuit viewing location. These 8 men may have stopped fighting by then.” Rating: 88

Guess who found the Text box in the Photobucket editor? This guy. It isn't great by any means, and I wish I could move things around. Still, for a free thing, it turned out okay.

I've almost reached 25 as the lowest pop across the US. They're 24.7 right now. Not the biggest milestone, but it is nice anyway. The bigger milestone is managing to sell out a 15k seat arena for TV. That and the aforementioned big pop disparity among some of the main eventers is going to keep the show in the SE region if I don't burn it out by doing so. We're also closing in on a 1.00 rating on TV which will come in handy when I'm negotiating the extension very soon. Storyline-wise, I'll try and keep it ESPN, though honestly, I probably don't have a choice. I'm going to just miss hitting the 42 pop in Mid-Atlantic and Tri-State required to get on TNN this time around. They're the only network that reaches Canada at Cult, and the way the Canadian networks are setup means you have to get on there to get to Canada unless you can get super-spillover as you need actual 29 pop to do so.

As for the schedule, college football is back meaning I'm not doing anything Saturday, except cheering on UK and the SEC. The 2 House shows should go up Sunday night and start predictions then. The PPV probably will go up Wed. or Fri. as the NFL is on on Thursday.

<p>the more important question is what song did Hart and Snake sing??!!! (somehow I can hear them singing "I got you Babe" lol)</p><p> </p><p>

Candi Devine© vs <strong>Wendi Richter</strong> (Split 1-1) - DQ</p><p> </p><p>

USWA Junior Heavyweight Title Match</p><p>

Bobby Fulton© vs<strong> Adrian Street</strong> (New match)</p><p>

Fulton may be a newer champ, but this belt is Taylor made for Street (pun intended due to the "kiss of Doom" that Adrian used to beat Terry in Mid-South). Street can have some fun with this belt (I think you have more quality face Jr's that can learn a few things by challenging Street for the belt). Meanwhile, Fulton is likely to be a boring, forgettable champion.</p><p> </p><p>

Bullrope Grudge Match</p><p>

<strong>Dutch Mantell</strong> vs Jake Roberts (Dutch "won" round 1)</p><p>

it might not be a whip, but I'm sure Dutch knows how to use it</p><p> </p><p>

Tommy Rich vs<strong> Austin Idol</strong></p><p>

we haven't heard much from Idol lately. Rich gets DQ'ed using Idol's chain</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Lawler & Bill Dundee</strong> vs Mr. Olympia & Norvell Austin</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Don Muraco</strong> vs Bob Orton Jr. -- DQ</p><p> </p><p>

Quote:</p><p>

Tie-breaker Questions:</p><p>

1. How many titles change hands: 2</p><p>

2. Who wins the United States Tag Team titles (match held on TV show): TNT -- I think gives chance for defenses agaisnt Poffos and another team before dropping belts eventually to Midnights. The young upstart team needs these belts to elevate them (they will be forced to have more matches and gain experience). Classic Memphis booking here</p><p>

3. How many DQ's are there: 4</p>

It was a very balanced match for the full 16 minutes, but it was clear to all that while The Rock was true to his word about not breaking, that Orton was starting to wear down. Muraco was getting the better of each exchange making Dave Brown wonder if someone didn't give Wright a lemon to suck on, such was the pained look on his face. Fargo made a key mistake here though. He started doing his strut on the outside (better known as the Flair strut as he stole it) meaning he had stopped watching Ron. Wright used that opportunity to distract Calhoun while Golden ran in from the back and hit Muraco in the back of the head with a chair. That was very clear to the 6 people in the match as they were very fired up. The four wrestlers in the ring couldn't wait for the bell to ring to start fighting. It didn't turn into a pier 6 brawl because they're too good at wrestling, but it was close. The ending did come abruptly and due to a surprising source. Debbie hopped up on the apron to distract Lanny, who she thought was the legal man from using a chain Angelo had handed to him, but while that distracted Frank, Angelo had moved around and handed Savage brass knuckles. That piece of hardware connected with Pritchard right between his eyes knocking him out. Taylor and Debbie tried to argue with with Morrell that Poffo was the legal man, but as the replay showed, Randy clearly slapped Lanny's back with Frank giving the tagged motion. Randy Savage & Lanny Poffo win via interference by Angelo. <strong>Rating: 81</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="39799" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://s1083.photobucket.com/user/scott_smart2000/media/1983%20Mod/Dutch%20Mantell_zpset7qmtwf.jpg.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j397/scott_smart2000/1983%20Mod/Dutch%20Mantell_zpset7qmtwf.jpg</span></a> <a href="http://s1083.photobucket.com/user/scott_smart2000/media/1983%20Mod/Jake%20Roberts%202_zps4dkiq6bb.jpg.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j397/scott_smart2000/1983%20Mod/Jake%20Roberts%202_zps4dkiq6bb.jpg</span></a></div><p></p><p></p><p> Hey, that dressing room looks familiar. He attaches the bullrope around both men's wrists while the announcers explain how a bullrope match works. Basically, there are no pinfalls or submissions. The only way to win is to touch all 4 corners consecutively, so touching 2 then the other 2 five minutes later doesn't count. So, two brawlers are given a weapon and nowhere to run. That's not a recipe for a wrestling classic. A bloody brawl, though, is what you get. Evidently, that rope was quite abrasive as blood was flowing within 5 minutes on both men. Ugh, my word processor just ate the rest of this segment. Jake did the hanging man crazy bump and then when Dutch tries to DDT him, got really ticked off and crotches him before hitting two of his own to make touching all 4 corners easy. <strong>Jake Roberts wins. These were two men who really didn't like each other pounding each other into next week, which was good for Idol because anytime it turned to wrestling moves, Rich schooled him. He wasn't a World Title holder for nothing. Both men started bleeding after eating ring post midway through the match. Hart made his presence felt several times, but the last time was the key turning point of the match. Tommy had taken control and was starting to get rolling when Jimmy distracted Morrell. Out from the back came Adrian Adonis with a motorcycle helmet. He cracked Rich right in the back of the head while he was focused on Hart. That sent him careening into Morrell though so despite being out cold, Rich was still in the match. Lawler came racing down to ringside to try and even the score. He managed to get the helmet away from Adonis on the outside. Idol reached over to try and take it away from King who promptly nailed Austin with it knocking him out, right in front of the just recovered Frank Morrell. Both teams come down with the look of supreme confidence on their faces. Calhoun locks the door and calls for the bell. All four men spend most of the match in the ring as Jerry gives up pretty quickly on trying to do more than just not get squished against the cage. There was some actual wrestling this time around, but not a whole lot of it mainly due to the lack of space and the very inviting cage to launch people into. There also weren't that many pin attempts for the same reasons. The only counting that did happen was a 5 count when all 4 men were down due to blood loss and exhaustion. While Calhoun was checking the condition of a couple of the wrestlers, Wright baited Fargo into an argument, and then threw a punch that knocked Jackie out. Dave Brown spots it and yells “Chain”! Wright gets a couple more kicks in before turning and taunting The Fabulous Ones in the cage. He hands Robert the chain while they aren't looking, and he proceeds to nail Keirn with it knocking him out. That's what adding Steamboat gets you (yeah, yeah Olympia or giving Lawler the title). This was a clear clash of styles as Sarge wanted to turn this into a brawl, pummeling Ricky into submission, while Steamboat knew he had to use his wrestling prowess to prevent that. He succeeded early in the match working Sarge over with the best wrestling moves of the night. He focused most of his attention to Sarge's arms hoping to weaken any big punches and stop the Cobra Clutch. Sarge finally started to get some shots in though which seriously slowed Ricky down giving control over. He went to work on Ricky's back while shaking his right arm selling the earlier damage. It was one of those times when Steamboat managed to duck a slightly delayed punch and unleash some of his trademark chops that echoed around the huge building. As the 20 minute mark passed, it was still anyone's match. Sarge knew Steamboat's fitness was legendary so he started to push things a little. Sloppiness ensued, but he managed just fine because a single right hand was good enough to stop anything Ricky tried. Sarge missed again, and Ricky took advantage grounding Sarge and trying a figure 4. Sarge fought all he could to not have it lock in, but it finally did. Calhoun went over to check if Sarge wanted to quit which turned the match. The announcers argue whether it was inadvertent or intentional, but Sarge shot an arm into the air, it caught Jerry right in the jaw. Ricky turned and saw what had happened and released the hold. Thankfully for Jerry, it was his left hand and a glancing blow so he wasn't out, but the rest of the match went in Sarge's favor. Why? Mainly because Sarge kicked Steamboat in the balls, hard. After beating on him for a minute, he locked in the Cobra Clutch shaking Ricky like a rag doll. He passed out right as Jerry came to to call for the bell. Sgt Slaughter wins via cheating. Still your North American Champion—Sgt Slaughter!!! <strong>Rating: 96</strong> <em>And the only negative? Dave Brown's announcing. Didn't realize the 3rd chair could affect the match rating.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I praised Steamboat and Keirn for their performances and complimented Street on his. Mainly, I felt bad because his gimmick change tanked. As for the show, I was ecstatic with how it ended. The rest of it was a little off for some reason. A couple of gimmicks needed to be changed (always love that btw, you couldn't tell me BEFORE the show) which drug down the two US Tag Semis, and the angle didn't raise the crowd up enough for the semi-main which docked it several points for a cold crowd. Still, a sold out 30k arena and a 96 rated show. Also, that jumped me from 7th to 5th in the company rankings, 78 in the South East (77.6 actually) and 75 in Great Lakes. I might hit 80 before the next PPV.</p>

Cash on hand: $2.85 million

Number Two: All Japan Pro Wrestling

Size: Cult, just jumped

Booker: The Owner, Giant Baba

Popularity: All 47's across the Japan except for a 54 in Kanto 17's across Canada and US.

TV Shows: 1)World Pro Wrestling on TV Ashii also up for renewal next month

PPV: No

Show Grades: Mostly in the high 70's with several low 80's. They were off tour for this month so they'll likely hit Cult in May as 3 points in one region is all they need.

Cash on hand: $1.15 million

Number Four: Georgia Championship Wrestling

Other Main Eventers--None thanks to that house cleaning they did recently

TV Shows: 1)World Championship Wrestling on TBS with a whopping 10 months left.

PPV: Yes, on Cablevision (Medium Size & Medium Viewership)

Show Grades: Mostly in the high 60's. Though they vary wildly with lots of stinkers in the 50's if they go into poor areas for them.

Cash on hand:Negative $152,000 but they've gained $70k since the start of the month. If they run their PPV in the SE, they might break even before the end of the month clobbers them.

I'm up to 5th right now. The rest of the top 10

6. WCCW (Mid-South and South East are their only two big areas for Cult status)

7. AWA Growing so very slowly like a good plodding dinosaur

8. Mid-Atlantic (Crockett/MACW) The only US company airing in Canada, Ontario only. Their problem is that they're stuck only airing in SE and MA so their pop is falling fast outside of those two areas and GL. So no PPV for them.

9. Maple Leaf Wrestling They're irrelevant as their shows are terrible (high 40's/low 50's)

10. Southwest Championship Wrestling High 60's and lots of low 70's. If they weren't going to die off due to a narrative, they might be interesting. Only 21 Prestige though.

enjoyable card and thanks for the tour of the other big territories

I can hear Ron Wright bragging about the title win now:

"I tole all yall hillbillies that my beloved Fuller Brothers would become the new champions, but none of you would believe me. Now maybe when ol Ron Wright tells you something, you will take it to the bank because it is as good as gold. Now I hear Dave Brown trying to say that I passed in a chain. Well he needs to go get his eyes checked because I did no such thing. Now that cage they put us in was cheap and falling apart so maybe it was just a piece of it that I was trying to fix that he saw. Either way, he needs to quit telling lies about me and my beloved Fuller Brothers. We are all Legacy Studs and he and everyone else around here needs to get used to that fact and know that before long we will have all the gold right here. NOW anyone who thinks they are man enough to take these tag team titles away from us needs to have their head examined. IF they climb in the ring with us, we'll put a Tennessee Dog Whuppin on them like they've never had before. Ask those so-called Fabulous Ones. I brain whupped their leader Jackie Fargo, and my boys bodily whupped the Fabs in the ring. We'll do the same thing to anyone who dares go up agin us."

We open the show not even in the state of TN. The graphic on the screen reads Mobile, Alabama. It's some upscale restaurant, and the camera ends up in the VIP section where the Fuller Brothers are holding court with the North American Tag Team Titles displayed prominently on the table. “Oh Ron, I told you we'd be champions here in USWA very soon, and here we are with these wonderful titles, in this beautiful restaurant for our celebratory dinner.” “And we're having such a Fabulous time in the most fabulous state in America, our home state of Alabama. The women here, Robert. whistles They don't make them any finer.” “You got that right Ron. That cage match was such a brilliant move for us. I'm so glad that idiot Fargo thought of it. I imagine those 3 are huddling up trying to come up with another brilliant plan for revenge. I hope the hamsters spinning on their wheels that passes for their brains don't die from exhaustion trying.” laughter “Hey, where is our food? We told them to have it ready for us now, right Robert.”

Out from the back come two huge rolling dining carts being pushed by people in tuxes with huge chef hats on their heads and their heads down. A comically bad French accent comes from one of them. “Oui, oui, monsieur, this is the cheating Fuller Brothers table, no?” Evidently, the bad accent obscured the cheating word or they thought he said champion. Robert “Yes, this is the North American Tag Team Champion Fuller Brothers table, but we wanted the pies after the meal.” The chef hats come off with a “Good!” revealing The Fabulous Ones. “We thought you should have them now!” and they nail each one with a chocolate creme pie. “Hey look Steve, there are a couple of chains here too. Can't let these go to waste.” And they nail them right when they have gotten pie out of their eyes. The oblivious actual waiter is now out here with a giant pot of soup. Steve stops and grabs that pot and turns it onto both Fullers (it was cold, leftover soup from lunch though they sell it like it was 500 degrees). Rating: 87

We come back from commercial break, and the announce desk has barely gotten it back together for the first match of the show. It was a good match too featuring two of the young stars of USWA. Cornette is steaming from outside the ring as the announcers point out that The Midnight Express lost Thursday. He sees an opportunity and nails Santana with the tennis racquet allowing Eaton to pick up the win. Rating: 66

“Atten Hut! Listen here maggots, you can boo me all you want. This title right here says I'm the best wrestler in the USWA, and I'm going to keep holding this title for a long time to come. Why? I'm the best of America. Just when you think something is going to bring me down, I rise up and kick it squarely in the privates. I think Ricky is trying out for the Boy's Choir after Thursday night. He certainly isn't working out for another shot at my title. I beat him fair and square in the center of the ring so bring on your next challenger, Marlin. I'll beat him too.” Eddie Marlin comes out. “I enjoyed your summary, Mr. Slaughter, but your conclusions are all wrong. You didn't win that match fair and square. In fact, you struck our head referee, and then further cheated to defeat Mr. Steamboat. Normally, I would fine you for hitting Mr. Calhoun, but I can't prove that it was intentional. However, when you say you're done with Mr. Steamboat, I can do something about that. At Memorial Day Mayhem 1983, you will be defending the title against Ricky Steamboat in a Last Man Standing Match so there won't be any cheating as everything is legal.” Before Sarge can protest, Ricky pops out from behind the announcer desk and nails him in the back of the head. It was a good first shot as Sarge didn't get to fight back before getting pummeled by a clearly ticked of Steamboat. Rating: 74

Poor Joey keeps getting squashed weekly on TV. This time it is Adrian Adonis as the announcers hype up Rich vs Idol's match from Bama Thunder where Adrian interfered. Adonis easily gets the victory. Rating: 54

This is the “throw everyone out there” match. All four of the faces got moments to shine while the announcers got to talk about TNT looking for revenge after losing their match at Bama Thunder. The match was never really in doubt. Rating: 58

Jim Cornette brings The Glamour Girls out. He says that either of these two has to be the new #1 Contender for the North American Women's Title that is around that skank, Richter's, waist. All your friends can't help you keep that title when you face them 1-on-1 in the ring. Enjoy that title now because these women are coming for you. Rating: 59

As the teams come to the ring, we see Rick Gibson guarding the door since we know that Cornette and at least half of the Midnight Express are in the building. Oddly enough, they didn't even make an appearance in the match. Wendi was wearing her new title belt and spent most of the match mocking Angelo over taking it from his client, but neither of them had anything to do in the outcome of the match. No, it was Debbie Combs, TNT's manager, who came down to ringside and distracted Lanny Poffo from pinning Gibson. Savage turned beet red yelling at both of them, but when Poffo finally turned around, Robert was back on his feet. He sent Lanny into the ropes and hit a missile dropkick for the victory. Your NEW US Tag Team champions The Rock N Roll Express! Rating: 81

The main event was an epic tag team match, and there were a few instances when Jerry and Bill made some belt motions towards Ron, which upset him even more after what happened in the opening segment. The match was a very even affair even though Golden and Orton were newish teammates, especially compared to for tag team champs in King and Bill. When Ron wasn't grumbling to the announcers, he did try to distract King, but basically, he stayed out of the match. Unfortunately for the Legacy Studs, they had made someone angry Thursday night, and he comes out from the back and nailed Golden. That man was of course Don Muraco. After the interference, it was easy for Dundee to pin Golden. Rating: 91!!!

First, I somehow screwed up the booking of the Muraco-Orton PPV match, and I didn't catch it until booking this show as Orton was mysteriously a Midcarder. I honestly don't know how that happened as I had it booked as a tainted win for Orton. I write the show up before I run it just fyi. I book it for the prediction contest but wait to run it until I'm done specifically so I can remember any interference or DQ's so the game doesn't record them along with the ref since I have three. All in all, it only means that I've screwed up Orton's push temporarily.

The end of the month numbers look great though. We cleared almost double what we did last month, so $710,867. That puts the bank account at almost $1.5 million. That was off of almost $4 million in ticket sales. Selling out your 30,000 seat arena for your PPV is amazing! The only moderately down note of the month was the pop gains in some areas. I only gained 5 points in Mid-South, Midwest, and Tri-State. Those areas that were 21 at the start of the month still grew 7 points to 28.

My pop numbers from top to bottom (as in the game):

GL-75.7, MA-40.8, MS-36.2, MW-40.0, NE-27.9, NW-27.8, SE-77.8, SW-27.8, TS-39.4, PR-40.8, HI-27.8 Mexico is all 16.8 as is Canada except for Ontario (28.6).

Georgia is at -$340k but still won't sell. :( No interesting new wrestlers this month, though I might sign Godiva to a developmental deal as her stats are pretty good. The Battan twins on the other hand...
