Yeah, heel Regal is one of my favorite characters, which is why I built my character after him. I've been watching a lot of mid-90s wrestling lately, and have gotten really fascinated with mid-90s heel Regal as well as the Waylon Mercy gimmick, both of which I thought should have been bigger than they were, but got cut short early. So when building a character I thought "What if Waylon Mercy was played by Regal instead of Spivy?" I don't know if I really captured that, but I like where I wound up anyway.

 

... I'm stealing that if I ever do a pre-Regal WCW game.

I predict a comedic storyline where my character tries to form a tag team with you but is put off time and again, and then sickened by your in-ring performances (after initially playing it off as "good ol' Wigan teaching"), thus leading to a feud.

Obviously, how he's portrayed is going to be up to EV ultimately, but in my head, I see Blackwell as the kind of guy who seems perfectly polite and friendly, so long as he's not in a ring. So you could be fooled into thinking he's a nice guy and an old school face kind of character until he starts wrestling. Making his entrance to the ring smiling, slapping hands with fans, shaking hands with his opponent and the referee, then becoming an absolute psycho chasing submissions as soon as the bell ring. Latching on a submission, cranking it as far as it will go, then having to be forced to let go when the match is over. And when he is forced to let go, popping back up, all smiles, shaking the referee's hand, and marching to the back as if he's done absolutely nothing heelish. Maybe even been shocked and vaguely insulted if anyone accuses him of having been anything less than a perfect sportsman.

I see your perspective and can raise up the SQ for that manner. With a character like that, the C+ range is what I would be looking for?

 

EDIT: I thought of Regal as lower in SQ because, yes, he had a drug problem but his in-ring character simply wasn't enough to get over. That's what SQ is mostly about; do you have the ability, the "it" factor, to get over? Regal was a great in-ring wrestler but would have maxed out as a US Champion in my mind (in WCW).

 

Hm. I was surprised at my psychology and resilience, personally. I figured Samurai did the Wigan Style and taught his boys proper like.

 

Also, yes, some stats appear low; however, based upon what you gave your number score to (not SQ though), I had a range to work with. The 50's can only max out at a C- (60's at a C+).

Sometimes it's hard to tell what is in character or not. haha. That said, I agree that he should be a little higher. When I went through, I was creating my ideals for the characters; however, I'm not entirely sure why he was so low. I'll re-look at my perspective on him & see how I could possibly proceed with him in a new light.

is a recent graduate of Dread's Titan Factory. Like his trainer, he is a large worker who concentrates on brawling. Unlike his trainer however he is incredibly explosively athletic and isn't afraid to go to the top rope on occasion. So far he's primarily worked as a face, but with his insane menace and star quality, he's bound to be turned at some point. The masked behemoth oozes charisma, but his mic skills need a lot of work.

is a super heavyweight wrestler from a small Michigan town called Hamtramck. Known for his massive size, and greasy-looking flop sweat, Casimir is truly a menacing figure to stand before. Furthermore, when you match this with an obnoxious sense of arrogance, knowing he can push around just about anyone he pleases, Cas comes across as the kind of guy you LOVE to hate.

 

Przybylski is also known for being somewhat of a jerk backstage; some calling him a "master politician" behind his back. That said, Casimir believes EACH promotion should center around him & does everything in his power to make sure that happens.

Phoenix

may not be the usual high-flying masked wrestler. This guy's ego might be as big as that of a 6'6'' monster, and while it makes him always looking for a fight with everyone, no matter how big and strong, and earn respect through it, there's no denying it gets him into "difficult" situations pretty often, to say the least. He might get a beating from time to time, but he'll always come back - as that's what a phoenix does, right? Rise from the ashes, try again, do it this time. "The Spirit of Fire" has a very intense wrestling style and while it utilises more high-flying maneuvers than anything else, those are spectacular to watch, as jaw-dropping as it gets and more than suitable to fire up the crowd. Phoenix doesn't really care about the bad guys doing bad guy things - especially to others - as long as they don't cross his path - or stand in his way towards his targets -, but if he's engaged in a feud or battle with someone, he's merciless.

Jerry "Cueball" Lynch

is an old-school style heel colour commentator, ripping on babyfaces and cheering on the heels. He has worked for various promotions over the years, but is most closely associated with FREEDOM Caribbean Wrestling.

 

In 2013, WAR owner Buddy Garner reached out to Cueball in which to be a member of the company's commentary team. After working alongside one another, formulating the company in its early days, Garner grew to trust Cueball; adding the additional role as the head booker.

Abram Romanov

is the younger brother of former MMA fighter and WAR wrestler Viktor Romanov. Much smaller than his brother, Abram has obvious physical limitations where his brother does not. Abram appears to be physically quite weak (always on crutches it seems; his injuries? We're not sure) and overall rather frail. That said, he appears to have Viktor wrapped around his finger; willing to do whatever possible to protect his brother. In that vein, he's the only person that Viktor seems to trust & relate with.

 

It seems as though Abram knows and manipulates this fact at every turn; creating sympathy from his brother & guiding his actions in turn.

Michael "No BS" Bull

is a decent referee from Florida, who is infamous for getting physically involved in matches to break things up when necessary. Over the years he has become best known for his work with New York City Wrestling, whom he joined in 2000.

 

In 2013, Michael Bull was contracted by Buddy Garner to also officiate WAR events (citing his "no BS" attitude as the perfect referee for their brand).

Miguel Ramirez

is a young announcer from Las Vegas, NV. After graduating from UNLV with a Bachelors in Communication, Miguel looked to break into the world of MMA broadcasting. To this point, he's struggled to gain any leads from anyone within the industry. That said, in the meantime, Miguel has agreed to work with Buddy Garner's WAR in which to "develop his chops."

 

A childhood wrestling fan, Miguel has a pretty strong understanding of the sport. That said, his vibe is quite different than your typical wrestling announcer; much more aggressive and strong in nature.

This marks the end of the roster unveiling. Yay! With that said, I plan to have the forum post for the dynasty up by the end of the weekend. I'm toying around with a couple title names and haven't decided, just yet, where I'm going with that. I know how I want to present the company; however, now it's how I will sum that up in a forum post title.

 

Unlike in previous projects, I don't have a backlog of everything created waiting in the wings. I don't have that kind of time (as I did even while I was creating LAX). That said, I plan on slowly developing the dynasty post-by-post when I have time. As you can expect, with a created company, I have a number of "tone setting" posts versus jumping right into the action of a show. I feel this is important in which to truly convey what WAR is all about, Buddy Garner's influence, and how the company fits into the current state of wrestling in America.
