South Of The Border Pro Wrestling:- Carrying a nation of Wrestling

Recommended Posts

Welcome to my Diary. I got back into the game after all the TEW 2016 hype. I can no longer wait for the release of that game. Hence, I started in an area I've not played before; Mexico. I'm not very familiar with the Mexican wrestling. So feel free to drop in suggestions.

My avatar will be Jorge Ibanez as the owner of the company. Let's begin by having a look at my product.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

I lowered my Minor match time to 6 mins so that I don't get any penalty for having too long matches when using openers and enhancement talents.

I also lowered Daredevil to Low so that I no longer get penalties for matches with low risks.

I don't tend to mess around with Match Intensity and danger sliders, but I think my lowered Daredevil should allow lower match danger.

Now, a look at the roster

ROSTER

The popularity mentioned are the worker's popularity in Northern, South Eastern and WestCentral Mexico respectively.

Popularity:- 87,84,86

Remark:- My current Champion. He is an amazing ring-general. The 98 in stamina will allow him to have long matches and his psychology will insure that it doesn't tank. Everything seems to be going right for him at the moment. A 99 momentum, 95 Gimmick and 93 mask prestige. At 36 years of age, he has a lot of years left in him hopefully.

You can't wish for much better... Well I could have wished for better skill in the air but you can't have everything you want can you?

Popularity: 98,97,97

Remarks: Well, I guess we can have everything we want. He is the reason why the Mexicans of CVerse watch wrestling, despite the depressing economy. He has also won Wrestler of the year award consecutively. Even his Sex Appeal is high. Its higher than most females. :D Also in his CV is the fact that he is very positive influence backstage with many positive relationships. Although he takes more than twice anyone else's wage, he is totally worth it.

The only challenge with him is building someone capable of coming with a win against him. The creative control in his contract makes it even more tricky.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Popularity:- 85,86,86

Remarks:- He is the biggest heel in my promotion. A fusion of Kane and Rey Mysterio. He isn't the best wrestler around but he is definitely watchable. For a person whose gimmick is Evil Incarnate and to be called 'Dark Luchador', his menace sucks.

He is the closest one to beat Champagne Lover. But a 39 year old of such caliber might not be the best of candidates.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (61) title="Screenshot (61)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1595/25567059286_785f994730_z.jpg" width="640" height="491" alt="Screenshot (61)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Popularity:- 85,84,85

Remarks:- More of an actor and less of a wrestler. His performance is not even considered to be decent. At 35, I don't expect him to improve much. He is going to help others get over. Surprisingly he has great menace skill.

His contract is going to make that very tricky. He is considered as a special attraction and has creative control. He has only 6 months left in his contract. So that might not be an issue.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (62) title="Screenshot (62)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1568/25567057136_1a41590e12_z.jpg" width="640" height="520" alt="Screenshot (62)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Popularity:- 76,75,85

Remarks:- An great worker in the ring. Not so great entertainment. Imagine a flying face version of Remo. Depending on his destiny roll, he might become the face of the company. He already has 85 in 1 area. So I am very hoprful about him. At 31, age is definitely on his side.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (63) title="Screenshot (63)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1701/24966479333_5e81a70921_z.jpg" width="640" height="511" alt="Screenshot (63)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Popularity:- 72,72,72

Remarks:- The weakest of my main-eventers in terms of popularity. El Fuerza is the only one in the main event scene with a poorer skill set. Being on the wrong side of 40 doesn't help his cause either. He is already showing signs of age decline. However, his 90 star quality and the fact that our champion is a face might be his saving grace.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (64) title="Screenshot (64)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1658/24962698504_1eb28f47d6_z.jpg" width="640" height="515" alt="Screenshot (64)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Popularity:- 83,82,82

Remarks:- The ex head-booker. He has got top flying skill, second only to leon. Apart from consistency, his performance skills are also top notch. He has started to show signs of decline though. So, I am not sure whether I want to build him up any further.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Popularity:- 79,78,79

Remark:- A poor man's Pablo Rodriguez. There is nothing else to say about this guy. The only thing better about him is that he is not in decline.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (66) title="Screenshot (66)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1518/25225636529_dd110c152f_z.jpg" width="640" height="502" alt="Screenshot (66)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

A solid worker for his age. Like Leon, his he might become the franchise worker if his destiny roll matches his skill. He has a 91 heel rating. If needed, I'll turn him heel. He is also a part of a tag team with 100 experience. So, he is going to be a star even if destiny is not on his side. :p

Popularity:- 69,69,70; 68,68,67

Remarks:- A solid pair of youngsters who form a tag team. I will be building them up to see if they can be good main-eventers. With our aging heels at the main event scene, one of these youngsters would definitely be welcomed.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Popularity:- 64, 65, 65; 66,65,65

Remarks:- Pretty much in the same situation as the workers before. They are not as good individually but are better as a team. Depending on how our top heels perform. This team may be pushed upward of downward.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

https://www.flickr.com/photos/86501214@N06/25297541960/in/dateposted-public/" title="Screenshot (72)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1642/25297541960_14d26f7eab.jpg" width="500" height="399" alt="Screenshot (72)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/86501214@N06/25474562462/in/dateposted-public/" title="Screenshot (73)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1599/25474562462_58deec5a48.jpg" width="500" height="392" alt="Screenshot (73)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Popularity:- 76,77,76; 72,71,71

Remarks:- This is my most experienced tag team. The are one the verge of breaking into the main-event scene; especially if I turn them heel. Which I probably should given the fact that Mexican Beast has the highest Menance along with El Fuerza.

However, I don't think promoting two 38 year olds is a good idea since we already have younger people trying to make their way and masked ghoul is showing signs of decline.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

https://www.flickr.com/photos/86501214@N06/25567040776/in/dateposted-public/" title="Screenshot (70)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1605/25567040776_67bb2c4b01_z.jpg" width="640" height="512" alt="Screenshot (70)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Popularity: 74,73,73

Remarks: An amazing ring general. An 85 in Psycology and 93 in Basics is something every company could use. He might replace El Fuerza or train the Heels.

I have been very lucky in terms of destiny rolls so far. My next big thing screen looks like this

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

https://www.flickr.com/photos/86501214@N06/25480559652/in/dateposted-public/" title="Screenshot (83)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1667/25480559652_190995ac83_z.jpg" width="640" height="438" alt="Screenshot (83)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Multimillonario is the only one who is somewhat ready for a big push. He is developed a very strong performance and physical along with stron flying skills. Moreover, he has the potential to be a really fine wrestler according to the hot prospects screen.

My mid card is filled with prospects. But I don't have many workers in my mid card who can teach and carry them. Calamari Kid (The Cannonball Kid) is the only one with in my mid card with good performance skills. I need more trainers.

I will be setting up a development territory and a dojo. Hence I will be going Juggernaut and sign whomever I need. Mexicans don't need any other promotions. The two shows of SOTBPW filled with Champagne Love should be enough for them every week.

This post is much larger then I expected it to be. So, I'll put a full stop here for today. And again, feel free to drop in your suggestions.

Awesome 2 see SOTBPW here. A few rules in Mexico, most matches 2 out of 3 falls/ dropping a opponent on their head is illegal(Major heat)/ tearing off a Luchas mask is highly illegal. All I got for now. Mexican Cverse has some gems like Gino Montero/ Mr Lucha 3/Velocidad. The Future is bright!

Cool to see a diary popping up of a company/area that doesn't get a lot of attention. A couple pieces of advice:

1. SOTBPW is a very Mainstream Lucha company, which is why a guy like El Fuerza can be a real main eventer. He's not good in ring, but he will do well in angles, and he has the charisma and menace to shoot up in popularity as a monster through short squash matches using the domination note.

2. SOTBPW starts at a high popularity level which is mostly a good thing, but it does make it harder to deliver grades high enough to maintain that level, especially since it's the only company to start out with a brand split.

From my understanding 2 out of 3 falls are still the norm in a more traditional company like CMLL, but in AAA (Mexico's biggest promotion, with a more entertainment oriented product) single fall matches are the norm outside of special occasions. Then again I don't actually watch Lucha so I might be completely mistaken.

Pushing guys like Multimillionario, Velocidad, Dr. Rudo, etc are a great idea, I used Velocidad to tag with Champagne lover in the main event against two top heels to get velocidad more exposure and he eventually reached A's in Mexico.</p>

TITLES

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (90) title="Screenshot (90)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1696/25595061416_1904caedd8_z.jpg" width="640" height="288" alt="Screenshot (90)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

My main title. Axxis Jr on his third reign with the belt. He has already made 4 defenses in the last 5 months. I might replace him soon though. I like having shorter reigns and passing the belt between my main eventers. I think I will stick with one belt for both the brands since they share the PPVs at the moment. When I have separate PPVs I might change that, or maybe keep them this way. Your thoughts?

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (93) title="Screenshot (93)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1452/24994470983_69c8a0b11b_z.jpg" width="640" height="284" alt="Screenshot (93)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I quite like this trios team. Calmari Kid has good performance skill and should help the other two improve. Velocidad has great potential and this title run should help his cause. I'll be keeping the belt on them for some time. Like the main title, this is also going to be multi-brand title.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (96) title="Screenshot (96)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1696/25502542372_c484665c57_z.jpg" width="640" height="286" alt="Screenshot (96)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

This is my tag team title. I don't like the fact hat it is held by my upper mid-carders. Expect it to change hands soon.

This belt is going to be Rojo exclusive just to add flavor to the brands.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (97) title="Screenshot (97)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1537/25325559160_7c359c16f4_z.jpg" width="640" height="291" alt="Screenshot (97)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

"If Rojo gets the tag teams, then what does Azul get?" you ask.... Mini Estrellas baby!!! In Mexican wrestling, these are just short wrestlers. Not necessarily midgets. Since the game doesn't have a height mechanism (not in my knowledge), I'll be restricting the title to small sized wrestlers. There are not many good small wrestlers in my roster. So, I've kept it on a lower mid-carder. Once it picks up, you might see Ultimate Phoenix or Campeon Jr with this title.

Schedule

We host the Azul show 'SOTBPW Television' on Monday and the Rojo show 'SOTBPW Lucha Libre' on Friday.

Both the shows are held on TV-mex (Medium in all of Mexico) for 80-Ad split to network and 90-cost split to company. I will change one of the show to a different network that broadcasts in parts of USA.

Our big 5 PPVs will be hosted in 2nd week of January, 3rd of April, July and September and the 1st week of November. They will remain unbranded even if we brand other PPVs. The ones held in September and November are considered to be highly regarded. I'm going to keep one of them as the 'end of season' event. But I'm not sure which. If I keep the September show as end of season then I'll have more time for its story line. And the November could be like the start of new season. On the other hand keeping it in November would allow me to keep no other PPV in the middle and have a month and half time dedicated to just this event.

The rest of the PPVs in other months are going to be gimmicks. So feel free to drop in your crazy ideas.

I have created a dojo and a development territory. So I'm going on a hiring spree.

In the next update I'll start the shows. Pinky swear.

Its show time!!!!

For my first show, I begin with El Fuerza taunting Ultimate Phoenix. This is probably going to be my best angle given El Fuerza's Microphone skills and popularity. I'm going script less and hoping for the best.

Next I have Ultimate Phoenix beating up El Fuerza in the ring. This is more of a backup incase El Fuerza tanks the script.

The first match will see my top prospect Velocidad along with his team mate Ultra Spark Jr take on The Sea monsters; Jormungand and Labbu. I don't have much hope in this match. Just looking to push Velocidad.

The next match is a filler match. It is a triple threat match between Star Master, El Hijo Espada Roja and Devious Doctor Fang. Halfway into booking this show I realized that my brands are unbalanced. Rojo had most of my heels whereas Azul has high with Faces. After this show I'm definitely going to change that.

Next we have a backstage segment today's 3 face main-eventers. This I expect to be my co-main angle.

Then I try to cool things down by having the announcers talk about Xtinction.

Then I have a match between Xtinction and Cerebro. I really like Cerebro's character. A legend killer in the making. So, I decided to test the waters with him.

For my main event, I have a match between Ultimate Phoenix and a mid-carder in Heroe. Heroe is on a good momentum. He is classified as a Next big thing according to my creative team.

My main event is going to be a 3v3 match between he top wrestlers of this brand. Axxis Jr will team up with Electrico and Campeon Jr and on the other Side El Demonio will team up with blood raven and private Molvado.

Once we start the show, El Fuerza provides this amazing angle.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (86) title="Screenshot (86)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1693/25256519499_7da1cb43a7_z.jpg" width="640" height="369" alt="Screenshot (86)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

96 rating while taunting a guy with 78 popularity. Mahn this guy can speak.

The co-main was good as well.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (88) title="Screenshot (88)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1452/25531397181_3f7335c0ba_z.jpg" width="640" height="250" alt="Screenshot (88)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Its good to see Ultimate Phoenix still improving his performance.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (89) title="Screenshot (89)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1485/24993568344_44eb464c51_z.jpg" width="640" height="307" alt="Screenshot (89)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Look at all those improvements. Even though the match rating was poor. we can agree that those improvements made up for it.

Overall this is how the ratings look like.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="

Screenshot (98) title="Screenshot (98)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1496/24997337333_d66f50ac95_z.jpg" width="640" height="256" alt="Screenshot (98)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I think that the show was not bad. It was definitely saved by the angles. The angle between Ultimate Phoenix and El Fuerza would have got better ratings if I kept a match in the middle. The tag team match at the start would have had much better rating if I had it in place of the Xtinction vs Cerebro match. Which by the way was a big disappointment. I really like his character story but he is a leech backstage and his performance isn't good either. Not sure whether he has a future in my company. There was an announcement rated 52, in between the match and the backstage angle. So the poor rating was not due to lowering crowd mood. The tag team match here would have generated more heat for my main event. Alas!!!

I'm also taking a ding almost every match due to poor announcers. There aren't any better who can work in Mexico. The current team has a good chemistry so that's something. The referee and road agent aren't upto standards either. Like announcers, there are no referees either. But the road agent will be replaced by Manual Prieto, the road agent of MPWF.

Do the guys get a popularity boost after doing the film?

They get a boost but their popularity bleeds down slowly anyways and it's never relevant by the time they return

My guys were already at A and the absence actually caused them to be LESS over

Also on the schedule, LuchaMania is meant to be the big event for the company according to the bios. Though it doesn't quite have the history of traditional Mex wrestling holidays

Good show as well, Fuerza is a machine in angles

In order to keep their pop levels the same place them in off screen angles and name them *wrestler name* movie hype. It keeps them in the fans mind and prevents pop loss so you'll have insanely hot wrestlers upon their return due to the momentum the angles will give em.

Look at her picture and tell me she doesn't look like an Acolyte. She is going to summon demons for my show. For now, I'm going to stick her in my heel stable. This way she could gain popularity by managing El Demonio and then transfer some of the popularity to the likes of Dr. Rudo.</p><p> </p><p>

Meanwhile my Dev Fed has hired Chess Maniac as its Owner after he rejected a development contract with me. </p><p> </p><p>

On to our first Rojo show then.</p><p> </p><p>

The show kicks off with La Allianze Del Terror (My heel Stable) announcing their acolyte. </p><p> </p><p>

Then the stable minus El Demonio faces 4 of my face midcarders and lower Midcarders</p><p> </p><p>

The match is followed by a confrontation between my top heel and face. I'm hoping this could match El Fuerza's Angle last show.</p><p> </p><p>

To cool things off, I'll have my announcers discuss Xtinction and Mystery Man. I have complete faith that these 2 can ruin the heat. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

To pick things up again, my most fluent Tag Team; Los Enfermos(Xtinction and Mystery Man) will face off Lobo Blanco and Strongman. Lobo Blanco is 33 years old and seems to have decent performance skills. But I already have lot better prospects. So, he is going to feed for now. Strongman has amazing basics and is a powerhouse. He also has good menace but at 47, I think he has to accept the role of a gatekeeper.</p><p> </p><p>

For my co-main, I have Champagne Lover team up with Las Pesadillas (Mexican Ghoul and Mexican Beast) to face Mayan Idol and the Golden Kings (Pharoah King & Multimullonario). Pablo Rodriguez makes an appearance as a guest Commentator but keeps his honor by not interfering in the match.</p><p> </p><p>

My main event will be between Pablo Rodriguez and El Leon. Two solid performers. Should be a good match.</p><p> </p><p>

The main event is followed by an attack on El Leon by Mayan Idol.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Didn't I tell you she is the perfect Acolyte? A 100 Gimmick rating. Sadly, that was the only bright side of this angle. I found out that she can't speak Spanish at all). I wonder how long she will take to speak fluent Spanish. At 44, I don't think she has much time.</p><p> </p><p>

The match was a bit more promising for Karen. She has excellent chemistry managing Dr. Rudo and does not create a conflict with anyone else. This should allow her to gain popularity quickly. </p><p> </p><p>

My main angle was a disappointment though. Only 83 for my top face and heel does not cut it.</p><p> </p><p>

My co-main was alright: 71 at this point is pretty acceptable. But my min event was not. </p><p> </p><p>

Both of them are among the best performers in my Company. A 75 from them is not good enough. However, look at the improvements of El Leon He is already good and is quickly getting even better. Just like last week, I think </p><p> </p><p>

I expected this show to be a few points better than my previous show given that this is the better of the 2 brands. The main angle and main event was not upto par. Given the poor matches, I'm thinking of reducing the match ratio to 60% on TV. This pair of announcers are also not good enough for the matches. And by seeing Karen struggle with the Mike due to language problem, I think the issue of poor announcers is going to be there even after I hit International.</p><p> </p><p>

Next post, I'll probably do the whole week's TV until PPV. Until then, take care. And to all those whose relatives were caught by the recent events in Ankara and Brussels please accept my deepest condolences.</p>
