The Roaring Lion - A BCG Diary

The Current State Of Black Canvas Grappling

<a href="http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/woody316/media/TEW%20-%20BCG/BCG_zpsvlvrhkoj.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/woody316/TEW%20-%20BCG/BCG_zpsvlvrhkoj.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo BCG_zpsvlvrhkoj.jpg"/></a>

Black Canvas Grappling was created in December 2011 in response to Golden Canvas Grappling joining the controversial "Morden Japan" movement. GCG legend Yoshifusa Maeda left in disgust at the decision to join this movement and looked to create a company that would adhere to the traditions of Japanese wrestling. Maeda convinced his long time friend and fellow GCG legend Kazu Yoshizawa to come out of retirement and, together, they created Black Canvas Grappling. Maeda stated that Black Canvas, and not Golden Canvas, would be the company to continue the tradition of the "Roaring Lion".

The current roster has a good mix of experience and youth and will provide BCG with a good chance to grow into an established force in the Japanese wrestling world.

Grand Xeno D

<a href="http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/woody316/media/TEW%20-%20BCG/Masayuki%20Shiga_zpsskebxmew.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/woody316/TEW%20-%20BCG/Masayuki%20Shiga_zpsskebxmew.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Masayuki Shiga_zpsskebxmew.jpg"/></a>

Masayuki Shiga heads the Grand Xeno D stable and has some potentially good wrestlers behind him. He doesn't have much experience behind him to help in the short term but this stable could grow into the most powerful stable in the company providing each wrestler fulfils their potential. Alongside Shiga, there is Banrakuken Torii who is a star in the making for BCG. Alongside his tag partner Dynamite Narahashi, they provide the second tier of this stable. Kiyotaka, Kadonamaro Kamisaka and Yoriie Ippitsusai are young lions that will hope to learn from the experience of Shiga. Will Shiga be able to lead his young lions to the top of BCG?

Great Eclipse Epsilon

<a href="http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/woody316/media/TEW%20-%20BCG/Funakoshi_zpsf3uvubb9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/woody316/TEW%20-%20BCG/Funakoshi_zpsf3uvubb9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Funakoshi_zpsf3uvubb9.jpg"/></a>

The BCG World Champion, Funakoshi, leads his stable and has announced his intention to rid BCG of the old guard and replace it with a new group of talent that can help BCG grow into the #1 company in the world. The tag team of Naonabu Murkami and Roku Sotomura are aiming to win the tag team titles and show that their ability far outweighs the lack of charisma that many people taunt them for during their matches. Rokuemon Matsushita is a big heavyweight that provides a different look and style to much of the BCG roster. Tanyu Toshusai and Yoshida Matsuzawa are hoping that Funakoshi can lead them to becoming main event players in the company. Will Funakoshi's ego allow for him to have a stable of main event stars, if that is what they all become?

Marvel Divine Delta

<a href="http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/woody316/media/TEW%20-%20BCG/Pistol%20Pete%20Hall_zpsmv8v8yoo.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/woody316/TEW%20-%20BCG/Pistol%20Pete%20Hall_zpsmv8v8yoo.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Pistol Pete Hall_zpsmv8v8yoo.jpg"/></a>

Pistol Pete Hall, a BCG legend, and the first BCG World Champion. A man who is the physical representation of everything that BCG stands for and has created a stable that will respect the traditions of Japanese wrestling. The tag team champions, Yoshizawa and Miura, are the best tag team in BCG at this moment in time. Junnosuke Fukazawa provides another veteran presence to help develop the youngsters in this stable. Razan Okamoto and Sharaku Okimasa looks like they will turn into top talents and have certainly made a smart choice to learn from the two veterans of this group. Will this stable be able to continue the long held traditions of Japanese wrestling or will they succumb to the vices of the "Modern Japan" movement?

Super Dyna Q

<a href="http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/woody316/media/TEW%20-%20BCG/Sofu%20Ozawa_zpsjil5csfs.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/woody316/TEW%20-%20BCG/Sofu%20Ozawa_zpsjil5csfs.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Sofu Ozawa_zpsjil5csfs.jpg"/></a>

Sofu Ozawa feels that he is disrespected by wrestling fans, who celebrate the influence of Pistol Pete ad Masayuki Shiga but forget the influence he has had on the Japanese wrestling scene. Ozawa has stated that he will become the BCG champion and will do whatever it takes to get there. Blast Ikoma, the BCG Challenger Champion, is also looking to make his mark on the wrestling scene and feels that Ozawa can help him get there. Yokokawa and Sen, along with Team Taku, give this group a very good chance to hold all of the gold in BCG. Will Ozawa be able to get his hands on the BCG title and what lengths will he go to in order to reach his goal?

Goemon Inoue: Welcome to our weekly roundup from Black Canvas Grappling. The Pride of Winners tour kicked off this week and we had the opening matches of the Pride of Winners tournament. Block A matches took place on the Tuesday tour show and Block B had their opportunity to shine on the Thursday tour show.

Inoue: Day 1 saw Ikoma and Ozawa defeat Matsushita and Toshusai. Matsushita and Toshusai gave it their best shot but ultimately the experience of Ozawa and the ability of Ikoma proved to be too much. Ozawa hit the Arm Trap Belly To Back Suplex on Toshusai and gained a pin fall victory.

Winner: Ozawa and Ikoma

Time: 25:22

Grade: D

After the match we caught up with Sofu Ozawa.

Ozawa: I promised that I will become the BCG Champion and tonight is the first step towards that promise being fulfilled. Ikoma and I will win this tournament and begin the Super Dyna Q era.

Inoue: Murkami and Sotomura used their experience as a tag team to beat Narahashi and Torii. Murkami hit the Belly To Belly Suplex and picked up a pin fall victory over Narahashi. Narahashi and Torii can take heart from their performance in this match but Murkami and Sotomura will be happy to have got their tournament off to a winning start.

Winner: Murkami and Sotomura

Time: 28:02

Grade: C-

Inoue: The main event of the evening had Pistol Pete Hall and Razan Okamoto go against Team Taku. Pistol Pete and Okamoto picked up a comfortable win after the Pistol Whip Lariat was hit on Yoshinaka Taku. Pistol Pete and Okamoto showed good teamwork here but will face tougher tests throughout this tournament.

Winner: Pistol Pete and Okamoto

Time: 32:30

Grade: D+

I caught up with both men after the match.

Pistol Pete: Now y'all know I'm a bit of a legend in these parts and I stand for all that is right and good with Japanese wrestlin'. And I'm glad that a father is teaching his son to respect the business as is happening with Team Taku. But the reason I'm all about the Japanese wrestlin' is because it is all about winnin' and being the best and for 34 years I've been one of the best around. And as for my guy Okamoto? Well he's going to be the next big thing so all of you guys better watch out.

Okamoto: Thank you Mister Hall. I have great respect for you and I will do my best to live up to your expectations.

Inoue: So after night 1 of the Pride Of Winners tournament the standings are as follows:

Block A

Pistol Pete and Okamoto 2

Murkami and Sotomura 2

Ikoma and Ozawa 2

Team Taku 0

Narahashi and Torii 0

Matsushita and Toshusai 0

So join me on Thursday night when Block B will begin their tournament. Funakohi and Matsuzawa and will be in the main event as they take on Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai.

The Pistol Pete promo was really well done. BCG doesn't really get much love for some reason, so it's nice to see someone giving it a go. Hopefully Pete's not too far into time decline. It'd be a great moment for BCG and Okamota in particular if Pete's last match was putting Oka over.

Pride of Winners is a great name for the tournament.

Yeah I just autonamed all of my tours and felt that was a really good name, particularly for a Japanese Puro Fed. I haven't given much love to the C-verse as I've played mainly RW mods. I wanted to do something different to all of the WWE/TNA diaries that are out there and so began testing a couple of companies in the C-Verse and although I haven't played as BCG prior to this diary I liked the back story of why the company had been set up so though I would give them a go. I'm going to try and make it more interactive with people giving predictions etc and hopefully I can use this to promote that some of the ficitional mods can be as fun and interesting as the RW mods.

Pistol Pete will be used to put somebody over, I've just got to decide how long I wait on that as he is certainly near the end of his career and may not have too much longer left. But equally I want to try to keep to the Japanese style and have things play out over the long term rather than hot shotting things. I have an idea in my head of how this first year is going to play out but not entirely sure.

Goemon Inoue: Welcome to the recap of night 2 of the BCG Pride Of Winners Tour. Block B took centre stage tonight and we were rewarded with some decent matchups. The main event saw Funakoshi and Matsuzawa defeat Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai. Funakoshi underwhelmed in this one and they were a little fortunate that they weren't up against stronger competition. Funakoshi hit the Butterfly Backbreaker for a pin fall win over Kiyotaka.

Winner: Funakoshi and Matsuzawa

Time: 29:31

Grade: E+

The opening match of the evening provided the match of the evening as Shiga and Kamisaka took on Fukuzawa and Okimasa. Shiga is looking to bring along the next wave of BCG talent and it looked as if they might open their tournament with a win. However, Kamisaka made a slight mistake which Fukuzawa took advantage of and locked in the figure four leglock which gave Kamisaka no option but to submit.

Winner: Fukuzawa and Okimasa

Time: 21:54

Grade: D-

The tag champions Miura and Yoshizawa began their tournament with a victory over Yokokawa and Sen. The End Of The World on Yokokawa was enough for the win.

Winner: Miura and Yoshizawa

Time: 27:11

Grade: E

After the show I caught up with some of the wrestlers

Shiga: We were unlucky tonight. Kamisaka made a small mistake and it cost us but he will learn from that and be stronger as a result. Grand Xeno D may not have had the best start in this tournament but we are young and we will come strong.

Miura: One match, one win.

Yoshizawa: And that is why we are the tag team champions.

Funakoshi: I heard a lot of fans saying I underperformed tonight. Well you know what? It doesn't matter. I won. And you know what else? I'm going to win this whole tournament and show that traditional Japan is no match for modern Japan.

Goemon Inoue: So after night 2 the standings are as follows:

Block A

Pistol Pete and Okamoto 2

Murkami and Sotomura 2

Ikoma and Ozawa 2

Team Taku 0

Narahashi and Torii 0

Matsushita and Toshusai 0

Block B

Funakoshi and Matsuzawa 2

Miura and Yoshizawa 2

Fukuzawa and Okimasa 2

Shiga and Kamisaka 0

Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai 0

Yokokawa and Sen 0

Join us next week for all of the action from nights 3 and 4 of the Pride of Winners Tour.

Goemon Inoue: The Pride Of Winners Tournament is in full swing now after Night 3. Murkami and Sotomura were looking to add to their opening night victory while the main event guaranteed that a team would remain unbeaten going into the third week of the tournament as Pistol Pete and Okamoto took on Ozawa and Ikoma.

Let's get straight to the main event as it was the match of the night on a night of world class matches. Pistol Pete and Okamoto picked up another win to go two from two. The Pistol Whip Lariat to Ikoma allowed Pistol Pete to get the three count. Ozawa was not happy at losing this one and berated Ikoma afterwards.

Winner: Pistol Pete and Okamoto

Time: 24:13

Grade: D+

In the co-main event Murkami and Sotomura looked to keep their unbeaten tournament going against Team Taku and were able to do this when Sotomura locked in the Twisted Bow And Arrow on Yoshinaka Taku and forced him to submit.

Winner: Murkami and Sotomura

Time: 19:47

Grade: D+

The show opened with another good contest as Matsushita and Toshusai went up against Narahashi and Torii. Both sides had lost their opening contest so a win was extremely important if either side wanted to keep their hopes alive. Despite good performances all round, Burakuken Torii was the class act of the match. His Flying Forearm from the top rope to Toshusai was enough for a three count.

Winner: Narahashi and Torii

Time: 18:52

Grade: D+

Goemon Inoue: A really good event tonight with great matches across the board. I caught up with a few wrestlers after the event.

Ozawa: Tonight was not good enough Ikoma

Ikoma: Yes, Master Ozawa.

Ozawa: It's my time to rule this company and how can I do that if you mess up?

Ikoma: Apologies, Master Ozawa.

Ozawa: Make sure it doesn't happen again. We can't afford any mistakes next week against Murkami and Sotomura.

Torii: Tonight was a good chance for me and Narahashi to show what we can do. Next week will be another opportunity to show that we can exist with the big guns here. We have much respect for Team Taku but we are here to win.

Goemon Inoue: So after tonights show the standings are as follows:

Block A

Pistol Pete and Okamoto 4

Murkami and Sotomura 4

Ikoma and Ozawa 2

Matsushita and Toshusai 2

Team Taku 0

Narahashi and Torii 0

Block B

Funakoshi and Matsuzawa 2

Miura and Yoshizawa 2

Fukuzawa and Okimasa 2

Shiga and Kamisaka 0

Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai 0

Yokokawa and Sen 0

Inoue: Join us on Thursday for our recap of night 4.

Thanks to everybody thats taking the time to read this. I just want to gather some opinins on how often people think I should update? I don't want to post too often if it makes people feel like they get left behind but I also don't want people to lose interest because I'm not posting often enough.

I'm definitely looking to do a roster overview but due to the fact I'm quite unfamiliar with the roster and that i set my touring schedule to start immediately i wanted to do my first tour before I did this. I'm looking to do a state of the roster post in between tours so I can show any new signings, changes to pushes etc. There'll also be storyline developments in these periods as well.

Goemon Inoue: Welcome to our recap of night 4 of the Pride Of Winners Tour. Tonight's main event was a classic encounter as Funakoshi and Matsuzawa took on Shiga and Kamisaka and while the other two matches didn't have the same level of interest going in, they produced some good performances and leave Block B in an intriguing position at this point of the tournament.

The main event had a huge of amount of interest going into the show and the match itself lived up to the hype. Kamisaka competed well with the higher level talent in this match and Shiga will certainly be proud of the effort his young gun put into this match. Ultimately the ability of Funakoshi and Matsuzawa came through and Funakoshi hit the Butterfly Backbreaker to Kamisaka and got the three count. Shiga and Kamisaka have two defeats now and that leaves their chances of qualification on thin ground.

Winner: Funakoshi and Matsuzawa

Time: 26:13

Grade: D+

The co-main event saw a bit of an upset when Yokokawa and Sen beat Fukuzawa and Okimasa after an Over The Shoulder Backbreaker from Sen to Okimasa. I say an upset as although Yokokawa and Sen are a full time tag team and are viewed as potential stars, Fukuzawa and Okimasa are probably better singles talents at this moment in time. This result causes Block B to look quite tight with a number of teams in position to proceed to the finals.

Winner: Yokokawa and Sen

Time: 19:12

Grade: D-

The tag champs, Miura and Yoshizawa opened the show with a comfortable victory over the team of Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai. There's not much to say about this as it was just a matter of taking care of business for the champions.

Winner: Miura and Yoshizawa

Time: 15:27

Grade: D

Goemon Inoue: After the show I got some interviews backstage.

Shiga: We gave it our all today and I am extremely proud of the work Kamisaka put into this match. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough and we are now in real danger of being eliminated. However, it is not in victory that we learn and become stronger, but in defeat and Grand Xeno D are going to become the strongest stable as we will learn and come back stronger after we fall.

Funakoshi: Wrestling traditionalists would say that I am disrespecting traditions. I cannot help that I am better than the veterans of this company. I will continue disrespecting those traditions by destroying the legends of BCG and creating the legend of the Modern Japan movement.

Miura: Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai have a bright future in this business but we are the tag team champions for a reason.

Yoshizawa: And that reason is that we are the best tag team in BCG.

Goemon Inoue: And that concludes tonight's show. Lets have a quick look at the standings after night 4.

Block A

Pistol Pete and Okamoto 4

Murkami and Sotomura 4

Ikoma and Ozawa 2

Matsushita and Toshusai 2

Team Taku 0

Narahashi and Torii 0

Block B

Funakoshi and Matsuzawa 4

Miura and Yoshizawa 4

Fukuzawa and Okimasa 2

Yokokawa and Sen 2

Shiga and Kamisaka 0

Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai 0

Goemon Inoue: Welcome to tonight's recap of BCG Pride Of Winners Night 5. We are really getting to the business end of the group stages and tonight really gave us an impression of who we can expect to make it to the finals.

Tonights show began with the best match of the evening as Team Taku went up against Narahashi and Torii. Both sides put on good performances but ultimately it was Torii showing his ability that got the win. Torii hit a Spinning Forearm Splash to pick up the win.

Winners: Narahashi and Torii

Time: 21:07

Grade: D+

Next up was the duo of Pistol Pete Hall and Razan Okamoto going up against Matsushita and Toshusai. Matsushita and Toshusai showed that they are continuing to improve in the ring but Pistol Pete and Okamoto are a quality team and picked up the win. Okamoto hit a Brainbuster Suplex on Matsushita and got the three count.

Winners: Pistol Pete and Okamoto

Time: 22:26

Grade: D

Tonights main event saw Ozawa and Ikoma wrestle Murkami and Sotomura. Neither side was able to make much of an impression in this one but Ozawa made the only impression that counts when he hit the Arm Trap Belly To Back Suplex on Sotomura and got the win for his team.

Winner: Ozawa and Ikoma

Time: 24:48

Grade: D

After tonight's show I managed to get a few words from some of the wrestlers:

Pistol Pete: Now y'all heard me tell you how good Okamoto is and y'all got to see that tonight as he got the pin for us. Matsushita and Toshusai are improvin' and will be big deals round here but Okamoto is on a whole 'nother level.

Ozawa: There were no mistakes tonight. There will be no mistakes for the rest of this tournament as Ikoma and I go on to win. And there will be no more mistakes as I take the BCG World Championship and place it in its rightful place, around the waist of Sofu Ozawa.

Goemon Inoue: So let's take a quick look at the standings

Block A

Pistol Pete and Okamoto 6

Murkami and Sotomura 4

Ikoma and Ozawa 4

Matsushita and Toshusai 2

Narahashi and Torii 2

Team Taku 0

Block B

Funakoshi and Matsuzawa 4

Miura and Yoshizawa 4

Fukuzawa and Okimasa 2

Yokokawa and Sen 2

Shiga and Kamisaka 0

Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai 0

Join us next on Thursday for a recap of night 6 of the BCG Pride Of Winners Tour.

Goemon Inoue: Welcome to the recap of night 6 of the Pride Of Winners tour. There were some classic matches on tonight's show and it all started as Ippitsusai and Kiyotaka went up against Yokokawa and Sen. Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai would need to win out to stand even the slightest chance of progressing but unfortunately despite their best efforts they were unable to achieve this. Sen hit the Over The Shoulder Backbreaker on Kiyotaka and picked up an impressive win.

Winners: Yokokawa and Sen

Time: 16:09

Grade: D

Inoue: This was followed up by the tag champions, Miura and Yoshizawa taking on Shiga and Kamisaka. Kamisaka has shown huge improvement throughout this tournament and Shiga can be proud of his stable mate. However the tag experience and combined ability of Miura and Yoshizawa proved too much as Yoshizawa hit the End Of The World on Kamisaka to pick up the three count.

Winner: Miura and Yoshizawa

Time: 19:18

Grade: D

Inoue: And then we had a great main event as Funakoshi and Matsuzawa defeated Fukazawa and Okimasa. Funakoshi continued to show why he is the future of this company as he was the star of the show. Fukuzawa and Okimasa just had no answer for him and the Butterfly Backbreaker took out both men before he covered Okimasa for the three count and the victory.

Winner: Funakoshi and Matsuzawa

Time: 30:11

Grade: D

Inoue: After the show I caught up with some of the wrestlers to get their thoughts on tonight's show.

Shiga: We were unlucky tonight, I have a very young stable and we will go through growing pains, but ultimately we will be stronger for all of these experiences. Miura and Yoshizawa are an amazing tag team and to perform as well as we did is encouraging. Our time will come!

Miura: Masayuki Shiga is a legend of this industry and the task he has taken on in bringing through the next generation is admirable.

Yoshizawa: But there is still a lot of life left in this generation and we, as tag team champions, are a prime indicator of that.

Funakoshi: Another fight, another win. When will you accept that the traditional values you want to follow are outdated and the modern world mocks you for this. It is a good thing that I will bring this company and the whole Japanese wrestling industry into the Modern Japan movement. Miura and Yoshizawa will be just another example of this next week.

Inoue: So after tonights show the standings are:

Block A

Pistol Pete and Okamoto 6

Murkami and Sotomura 4

Ikoma and Ozawa 4

Matsushita and Toshusai 2

Narahashi and Torii 2

Team Taku 0

Block B

Funakoshi and Matsuzawa 6

Miura and Yoshizawa 6

Yokokawa and Sen 4

Fukuzawa and Okimasa 2

Shiga and Kamisaka 0

Kiyotaka and Ippitsusai 0

Inoue: Funakoshi and Matsuzawa will go against Miura and Yoshizawa next week and the winner will guarantee themselves a place in the final 4.
