Secrets To Booking A Show

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this is the right place to put this or not but I'm taking a shot. I am currently playing as MAW and am making good profit every month but I am having a real issue with booking. Like I never know if I should book a Lower Mid vs Mid or Lower vs another Lower or UM vs ME. And who should win. So confused.

The easiest way to do it is to plot out paths for each character you care about on your roster. That way you can tell stories through the matches. Vince Russo may have had some terrible ideas, but one thing he was very good at was making sure each member of the roster had something going on. I've tried emulating that in TEW for years and it's always served me well.

Check out the roster and read the bios of your workers. See who's a face and who's a heel. Maybe some of them have bios that have built in stories. Maybe you've got one arrogant jerk and one clean cut babyface who are just waiting to fight.

Check out the titles. Maybe some workers are just made to be a midcard title holder and maybe the underdog gets it. Maybe the current main event title holder feels wrong to you; the jacked dude with good mic skills... maybe give him a shot. Tag teams. Pair up same level workers in the dark and test chemistry. A team has awful chemistry? Why? Maybe they should have a singles feud.

Make a storyline. Put some of the above workers in it and use for a good momentum boost and good grades because storylines > all. Then, later, when the storyline has run its course or you're ready to move workers on they will hopefully quit the storyline with great momentum.... another built in story.

Let me try helping you out:

1. You should never book a match that doesn't have someone from the Lower Midcard or above. In other words, EVERY match needs a Lower Midcarder, a Midcarder, an Upper Midcarder, or a Main Eventer. If you book a match that's only Openers and Enhancement Talents, the crowd won't care and you'll get a penalty. All other matches are valid if they serve a purpose.

2. The two matches at the end of the show are the most important. For TV, the last match (the main event) should have a Main Eventer fight an Upper Midcarder or Main Eventer. If you're short on time, run the second-to-last match without any Main Eventers, but make sure that you have at least an Upper Midcarder in the match.

3. As a general rule, you want the match to make your roster overall more popular. In order to achieve that, you need to know a few rules of thumb. Losing a match to a less popular guy costs popularity, but you can use the Keep Strong note to reduce the amount lost. Beating a more popular guy boosts popularity. Losing to a much more popular guy boosts popularity.

If you need more specific advice, just post a screencap or list of your roster and let us know which mod you're using.

Generally, workers should match up with workers at their own level, and of a different Heel/Face alignment.

There are some exceptions, though. Guys who you want to push (make more popular) should wrestle guys higher on the card than they are. For instance, if you've got a Lower Midcarder that you want to push, have him in matches against Midcarders - not necessarily winning, but wrestling them will be enough. Have him beat guys at his own level, and stay away from guys below him.

As mentioned earlier, Openers and Enhancement Talent should never be in matches against each other, always have at least one Lower Midcarder in the match. Generally, these guys will be losing to more popular stars to gain experience.

Set up some storylines, at least one between two main eventers, and one between an up-and-comer and a guy above him. Make sure at least one of the guys has good charisma and mic skills, and if necessary hire a manager for the other. Have these storylines progress mainly via angles and multi-man matches (tag and 3-way matches, for instance), leading up to a 1vs1 against each other at a big event.

Other than that, just experiment! :)

Dave I have George Wolfe in my fed and he's an extremely good worker (it's 2017). Brett Starr is a flashy entertainer (again in my game). I would try them out in a mid card match. See if they have any chemistry issues. These are the road agent notes I would use for that match.

Hollywood Brett Starr vs George Wolfe

Bret Starr to win

Open Match

Decisive Victory

This is enough notes to get you a good match grade barring any chemistry issues.

Depending on your product and what destiny roll your workers got you can try adding:

- All Out Match or Work the Crowd

- Crazy Bump if they're willing and you don't mind a possible injury for a boost to the match grade.

That's a match I would try from your roster. If you try it out let me know how that goes for you

<p>In terms of LM v M etc</p><p> </p><p>

on TV i'd have say a UM guy defeat a midcarder/Lower midcarder.. or an UM who I don't care about/ getting rid of soon. </p><p> </p><p>

It depends who I'm pushing.. who i may push in the future and who i'm going to job out a bit on their way out.</p><p> </p><p>

In real terms on my 1993 WWF game Honky Tonk Man was an UM but getting on in years and I want him out eventually. Steve Austin is Midcarder but I want him higher up the card. </p><p> </p><p>

I had Honky feuding with Austin.. on TV Honky would beat my Midcard/LM jobbers and Austin would defeat Lower midcarders or Midcarders I didn't care about. until the pay off matches where Austin would be a hot midcarder and Honky would be a hot UM. Austin would grab a couple PPV wins against him that boosts Austin to UM and potentially drops Honky down to midcard.</p><p> </p><p>

Generally guys losing to others lower on the card on them will complain. so it's best as a general rule to have guys defeating guys lower on the card... unless your pushing one guy up and don't care about the higher guy.</p><p> </p><p>

......</p><p>

TL:DR want to raise guys up the card have them face guys higher up the card. </p><p> </p><p>

Don't care about a guy/ retiring or leaving soon then use them to job to the lower guys you want to push up the card.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

.....</p><p> </p><p>

Ahh also I found that having Main eventers on short contracts solely there to give their popularity and omentum to younger Upper midcarders to bring the mup to Main event works really well.. It saves your core Main eventers pop and momentum and helps bring up a new guy in the Main event scene. </p><p> </p><p>

On my CZCW game I brought in Freddy Datsun. Main event level but not really fitting my style but he was there for 3 months to help put over Mainstream Hernandez up to Main event level. I get anew Main eventer for free almost then.</p>
