Small Questions Thread & "Living FAQ"

Here's a question that's been bugging me for years; what's mat work as opposed to submissions? I get that they're different and distinct things, it's just picking out what moves count as mat work rather than submissions that I've never been able to figure out.

In game terms, they probably could just as easily be combined without any issue.

I'm admittedly not smart about settings in the game. I didn't realize I set my company to popularity over performance until it was too late. Now I want to make the switch and was hoping someone can tell me what settings I need to change to do that. I do realize that I might have to do a gradual change to not upset my fan base.

Does the AI not gain POP for it's wrestlers as quickly? This is something I've wondered about for a few years

For example on one of my current saves I'm 6 months in and Aaron Andrews has been consistently winning A rated matches at the top of the card for TCW yet he has still not risen above B- popularity anywhere in the USA. This seems like it should have increased by now

This could just be confirmation bias of course but if I am right in thinking this is the case then can I also ask why?

Starting out small company

Hi all, I've played previous versions of TEW and EWR, but never tried just taking the bottom ranking company in the game and seeing how far I could take them. The mod i'm using is Clash of the Titans, and started with IWF who are just about regional, but I've dropped down to local after 2 months as couldn't afford the production costs to keep up with my many regional rivals.

Basically asking, what tactic would you recommend. The company starts out with only £1000 in the bank, although the owner Kowalski has agreed to work for free which is handy as he's a good Road Agent. I can make a small profit each month by running one show a month, but the popularity isn't really going anywhere... declining if anything.

I need to find the balance between running enough shows to maintain or keep the popularity, and not going bankrupt! How do you guys manage small promotions?

Nice improvements on the patch. Can someone explain this change if it's not merely cosmetic? If it's unrelated to performance of AI booking, what's the point? And why would booking decrease over time.

For instance, Vince Russo might have been an A during the attitude era, but was significantly worse on TNA. Also, a younger booker will learn over time... possibly learning from their mistakes so it shouldn't really be be tied to performance. You might learn a ton from a bad show after all.

Andrews is killing it, regularly beating workers more over than he is, yet hasn't budged.

The industry in the US is low but it's rising and other guys have seen a significant rise in the same span (Valiant, notably has seen his stock flying up)

As for the cap, 73-75 seems low and even then, shouldn't he be able to temporarily get above that before it starts to drop again?

I just used Andrews as a single example though. Most TEW saves I've played over the years it seems like worker popularity for the AI maintains a status quo except for one or two outliers. Again this may just be confirmation bias and I admit I haven't played a lengthy save on '16 yet but it definitely feels like a thing I see over and over again

EDIT: Having researched further it looks like every other star on the US scene has made significant gains in the same time span (Champagne Lover's pop has doubled!) so I guess yeah. His popularity has just hit its ceiling and confirmation bias on my part. Huh. Oh well, carry on

I don't know if this is realistic, but wouldn't it be fair to give the player use of workers that a more reputed company doesn't use during their show? It's kinda frustrating to see them unused there while you were planning to use them.

For the workers in question, who won't be earning money at all, it's probably even more frustrating. :p

Hey everyone,

Not sure if this belongs here but I figured it might be better than its own thread clogging the board. I've been away from the game for a while because life has been busy and I want to play again, but I'm not really inspired by any of the RW mods (I've tried a bunch of CV games and they've never worked for me).

I had a 2004 game that ran for over a year, but I screwed up the file when I converted it from 2013 to 2016. I'm particularly interested in 2014 post-WM30 or maybe '93 WWF or 2006 TNA, but there isn't really much on that front. Maybe I could use the 2005 mod, but my real question here is: what do you guys do in this situation?

Find an era of wrestling that you thoroughly enjoy and start a dynasty in that era. If you can't find a mod for that era, use a mod that you really love and do a dynasty with that.

My current game, which has been going for five years, has seen quite a few generated promotions pop up, and I hate seeing them without logos. Maybe if we all listed the ones we've seen formed in our games, we can make a full list of them?
