<p>Keeping GCG and PGHW alive is something I wanted to do... PGHW are a profitable child company for me, part of my alliance and living their own life mostly apart from me. I sometimes borrow some of their top guys but mostly I use them to develop talent for me now. I had planned to keep GCG alive but BCG also came up at about the same time... and I wanted some GCG talents (I have a soft spot for them from old games) and I want Kudo back in the BHOTWG fold so I killed them outright. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I just had an interesting thing happen in my game... Lance Martin just won the PGHW Elite Series. Or did he? I sent both of the twins down to PGHW to give them something to do for a little while and Lance just somehow managed to beat PRIDE Koiso, Chojiro Kitoaji and Kozue Kawashima all in the same night. I haven't had much creatively for the twins but I call shenanigans on this win.... twin magic on one of the grandest tournaments in the world is an epic way to launch them as heels and I will definitely be pretending that has happened in future. Both are pretty talented but neither should be near winning this tournament. And now we all know how it was done even if it takes years to prove it to the world. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I'm a bit torn on how much I want the Tsunami narrative to wreck up PGHW and GCG.

Had a long-long weekend and got some TEW in. Was hoping to finish out April to pull down the curtain on the first tour, but didn't quite make it. Close to done the J-Tag GP and as I hoped, there will be two teams tied on points so they will face off to pick the winner at the PPV.

So it looks like the Entertainment-based promos are what is driving up the popularity of certain workers. Possibly combined with high momentum. I'm going to have to be careful not to overuse it to the point of abuse. But I have added the B show now, so the lower card guys should get more time. Will also use it to highlight some of the developmental folks.

<p>I just had a quick look though my Summit Challenges. I know I've been making an effort to grow as many Japanese talents as possible but I've also been building globally so it's a definitely tough line to walk.</p><p> </p><p>

2016: 2 of 20 (Java and Matthew Keith, both BHOTWG roster defaults)</p><p>

2017: 6 of 20 (Jack Marlowe, Malili Umaga, Angry Gilmore, Matthew Keith, Shooter Sean Deeley and Buddy Garner)</p><p>

2018: 6 of 20 (KC Glenn, Matthew Keith, Raymond Diaz, Angry Gilmore, Buddy Garner and Greg Gauge). This year also had a lot of resprentation from other companies, with the GCG guys coming in from their buy out, PGHW guys being used and Funakoshi debuting. Also a fair few Juniors in here, making it a very cosmo[olitan tournament.</p><p>

2019: 6 of 20 (Greg Gauge, Kirk Jameson, Raymond Diaz, Angry Gilmore, Edward Cornell, Matthew Keith). This deliberately kept Tommy Cornell out after he won the Kitozon Cup and there are many more gaijin on the roster who could have been a part of this tournament.</p><p> </p><p>

So I guess 6 non-Japanese talent has been my magic number so far. I've been running the BOSJ with the same format and I know I've had waaaaaay more foreigners for that, being particularly liberal in using the best that I can find from around the world. But NJPW also does that, so I definitely don't feel bad about that. And the fact is, other parts of the world have the best flyers outside of WLW. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Didn't quite manage to finish out the tour, but close. Made it to the April PPV. So one more week worth of shows to go.

Angry Gilmore is indeed on Time Decline. Good thing its only a 5 year contract at $40K per month. But its early and he's been money so far in just a couple of matches. Had him go over William Hayes at the PPV and they will join forces, starting up a Respect sekigun of outsiders. His popularity is already shooting up - he's mid-70s in just a few shows. Came in at 66 across Japan.

I now have 5 workers who have average Japanese popularity at 90 or above. I have about the same number who are between 85 to 89. Kikkawa is 100 across the board. But the downside of popularity gains has already started - wage increase requests. Kikkawa asked for a big bump. I usually just give them 75% of the requested amount, as its just evening out what they should be earning and I imagine they will ask repeatedly if you turn them down. Gotta keep the star man happy.

Had 2 teams finish on 16 points in the Global Junior Tag Grand Prix - Elemental III & Masao and Sensational Dragon & Helikaon. It was a single block and Dragon & Helikaon won the match so I could have just gone with that as a tie-breaker, but decided to do a PPV match for it instead. Dragon & Helikaon won anyway. Intent is to serve as something of a "coming out" party for Helikaon getting a push as a major SJ. Also debuted Zero Optimus, who tagged with Mystic Dragon and they did pretty well too. I've been searching for other quality Super Juniors to use as legacies but will probably end up relying on the game spitting out generated workers who have the quality to get considered for a legacy.

Started making plans for the Best of the Super Juniors. That should be fun to book, especially with the top guys gaining some popularity.

My big debate is still when to pull the trigger on the broadcaster to kick off some growth outside of Japan.

New Japan and Burning Hammer have a lot of similarities, and it makes more sense in here than necro-posting in a more general puroresu booking thread. </p><p> </p><p> ****</p><p> </p><p> So finished off the first tour last night. And made it through May, which doesn't take long with no shows to book. </p><p> </p><p> In most saves, I tend to avoid signing too many vets. But given the nature of puro, it makes sense to have them, even if its just in multi-man tags. And I apparently REALLY like signing Time Decline workers on this save. Saw a news story that PGHW weren't resigning a 45-year old Eisaku Kunomasu. I'll have me some of that! Of course, the fact that he isn't being resigned is a pretty big hint. A long career in a company with a heavy product is a pretty big hint by itself. So I hedged my bets and only gave him 2 years, and the wages weren't too bad. 20K a month. So when he finally joins.... he's my most on-decline worker. 10 years, Terminal Decline. Enjoy the oldhead role in nothing but multi-man tags, Eiasaku #2. </p><p> </p><p> So for the second tour of 2016, I will be bringing back most of the workers who were on touring deals. I decided to hurt Warrior Engine a little and sign away both Taheiji Konoe and Zeshin Makioka. They did reasonably well on the first tour and I've started to build some tag experience. A big, tough, violent tag team seems awful fun in Burning Hammer. Especially with Sanda and Hamacho being near the end. I brought back Munemitsu Senmatsu on a touring deal and the trio works a lot as a.... trio. </p><p> </p><p> Doing some checking for other Super Junior / cruiserweight options to bring in for the BOSJ. Going to do 2 blocks of 10, just like the Grand Prix. Will probably just end up bringing in a couple of the prospects who are in development, like Razan. </p><p> </p><p> Sanda's deal came up, and I hedged my bets there by just signing him to a PPA deal. He tends to get tired pretty quick so he won't be all that useful. Hamacho is a locker room leader, though, so figure I'll keep em a bit longer. </p><p> </p><p> The Tsunami narrative turned Japan into a swamp. The economy and wrestling industry are both at 4. So quite curious how bad its going to affect attendances. </p><p> </p><p> After chatting with Jon, I finally pulled the trigger and spent about $18 million on a subscription broadcaster, HammerCast. H-Cast had Tiny coverage everywhere but Japan and the US (thanks a lot, TV deal). Will be showing everything on it, trying to grow the company abroad. I also put my child companies events and tour highlights on there, which might lead to some odd worker popularity formatting for developmental workers. But so be it. </p><p> </p><p> If I still turn a profit, I will probably look to open up a second developmental company before long. Having too many workers in Fire Kingdom means a lot of them don't get on the shows. Having new worker generation on high is giving me a few randomly generated workers that I'm hoping develop into something.</p>

<p>So second tour of the save underway. I was worried because I thought the Best of the Super Juniors had to finish in June which would make running 2 blocks of 10 a bit... tight. But its actually July so that makes it a bit easier to give talent a rest and stretch it out. </p><p> </p><p>

Pretty sure Elemental III I wining the BOSJ again, and then probably winning himself the Burning Junior title. He's into the 90s in popularity now. The other Four Pillars have moved up as well, but not as much. So this BOSJ might be about him truly establishing himself as a main level star for the company. Beyond that, this BOSJ will be about solidifying Zero Optimus and Helikaon key juniors just below the big four. A lot of those who slot there, in terms of popularity, are older and declining. I also called up Razan Okamoto, who will start to move up a bit in the ranks too. </p><p> </p><p>

Toju Munkata keeps getting Psychology tips. He's up too 88 now. He's improving in other ways but nowhere near as fast. Still puts him in good shape, long-term, to be a key SJ. I did get Kazunori Yamura to move down so they are a full super junior tag team now and will probably have the most value there for the moment. </p><p> </p><p>

I brought up Taro Shinaoya and Murai Enomoto from development as a tag team. Named them something like MASSIVE Thunder. They can be a nice cog in rebuilding the heavyweight tag division. </p><p> </p><p>

Bit of a boo-boo.... Ieyoshi Shimakage is another who spent the first tour in development and then got called up. And promptly got popped for a painkiller addiction. Rehab time. See in you in a month or two. Actually, make that six months. Snap. Haven't used rehab in the game in a long time and forgot how long it can run. </p><p> </p><p>

The shows so far have started to boost our global brand, since the starting popularity outside of Japan isn't that high. The subscription broadcaster isn't making much right now, which kinda makes sense, but its the safer long term bet. From just a few shows, the worker popularities of the top guys are starting to rocket up, though. </p><p> </p><p>

Some things I'm still looking for....</p><p> </p><p>

Someone for a Kiyaru Legacy Mask - mentioned this will probably end up being a randomly generated Super Junior </p><p> </p><p>

Valet - totally not inspired by Tachi's ladies.... been looking for someone with pretty high sex appeal from the beginning. Would prefer a native talent. I think Jessie may become available and would be an easy pairing with Gilmore, but would like a Japanese lady. Have held off on just taking one of the loyal Joshi workers on a PPA or touring deal but that will probably end up being what I do</p><p> </p><p>

Gaijin Super Junior team - this one is more about settling on exactly what I want more than "can't find". I have a couple of gaijin talent developing under legacy masks, but they aren't ready. I have a handful of more technical wrestlers - Konrad Maikkison, Nigel Svenson, Ray Snow - and I think a couple of lightweights, so that's an option for a tandem. I have the Night Terrors in on touring deals. I could do a lucha team, which might just mean brining someone in to team with Relamango. Just can't narrow down what direction I want to go.</p>

<p>Ironically BP, the valet was exactly what I was looking for when I turned Jin Miyamoto into JIN(based off the same influence too!). Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone that was a native. I did, however, settle for Joy Ryder, who has good sex appeal, decent charisma. She debuts in 2017 though so that doesn't help you out. Honestly, I don't know if there's any good options there. Could be wrong and probably am. Like I said, I stumbled with Joy and sh's done well for me and I like the idea of getting her over enough so one of he Joshi companies can sign her(5 Star is at Cult in my game so they are signing girls to Written deals.)</p><p> </p><p>

As for junior gaijins, there's so much. I picked up Kamikaze in my game and he's developed well. Ironically his contract is up ad I'm debating whether to keep him, not because of him, but because I have a few SJs with high SQ that need a spot and I'm trying to slowly trend my bloated roster by just a smidge. I don't know who's available in your game, so I'll just throw out Extraordinao Jr. again because he's pretty solid and can develop well. Has a background too in which in his bio,it says that his father wrestled for BHOTWG in the past.</p><p> </p><p>

Thrill Seeker from CGC can wrestle in Japan. He's 35 but he has solid skills. B in Aerial. A in Basics, B- in Psych. Wrestling your top juniors could get those skills up. He's a sleeper and can be a good backbone guy, especially in a team setting. So him, Masked Cougar is a solid choice. You can even pair him up with Fox Mask(who famously is longing to wrestle in Japan as his bio always states.) I am curious to know who's available to you in your game and who's being let go, because again, that's how I got someone like Jagged and he's been awesome for me.</p>

<p>In general, who do you put under legacy masks? My first instinct is that the guy under the mask should be fairly new, at least to the company. Barring that, he should go through a weight/gimmick change for the character.</p><p> </p><p>

I've noticed that in RW sometimes established workers take on legacy masks. It occasionally happens in the C-Verse. For example, Panda Mask II had several years experience before donning his mask -- though he wasn't in the default data before. Many Burning Hammer Juniors start with a protege somewhere, but many don't don their mentor's mask. </p><p> </p><p>

I've always struggled to assign a legacy Optimus and/or American Optimus. Both really deserve a successor, but neither have one in the data. I'm not sure who their proteges are, either.</p>

Looking again, not sure why I didn't pull the trigger. </p><p> </p><p> Nice to know I wasn't the only one coming up with very little in the search for Japanese valet types.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="KnowYourEnemy" data-cite="KnowYourEnemy" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41359" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Out of interest, have you returned to a "touring schedule" or are you running multiple shows to emulate the schedule? <p> </p><p> I know many were disappointed that Burning Hammer and others changed to a regular schedule -- usually, I run two TV shows for a "touring feel", sort of a middle ground.</p><p> </p><p> Either way, I hope that we get more touring companies in Japan at some point. </p><p> </p><p> I've always just passed the mask onto a protege if I can. I can't remember if Kiyaru in particular chose someone in any save, but lots of guys seem to take on proteges at some point. </p><p> </p><p> My guess is that if he stays on for three years, someone eligible will end up under his wing.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I did indeed switch it back to a touring schedule. Just felt more....puro to me. I still have the weekly TV show and I added a B show, so its a kinda mixed schedule at this point. </p><p> </p><p> In theory, I'd love to have a protege worthy of passing the mask on down of these workers. But there is also a large element of randomness that makes that.... challenging. Kiyaru is 45 and declining. Not really cut out to be a road agent. I don't expect he will get a protege at this point. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="KnowYourEnemy" data-cite="KnowYourEnemy" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41359" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>In general, who do you put under legacy masks? My first instinct is that the guy under the mask should be fairly new, at least to the company. Barring that, he should go through a weight/gimmick change for the character.<p> </p><p> I've noticed that in RW sometimes established workers take on legacy masks. It occasionally happens in the C-Verse. For example, Panda Mask II had several years experience before donning his mask -- though he wasn't in the default data before. Many Burning Hammer Juniors start with a protege somewhere, but many don't don their mentor's mask. </p><p> </p><p> I've always struggled to assign a legacy Optimus and/or American Optimus. Both really deserve a successor, but neither have one in the data. I'm not sure who their proteges are, either.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I tend to look for someone who seems worthy. Someone relatively similar to the original masked worker. So I probably wouldn't pick Tetsuji Nishimoto to be Kiyaru II because there is a massive gap in Star Quality. I agree that I would generally look for talent outside the company. I want someone talented, though - no use giving the legacy of a really good to great worker to someone who is utterly mediocre. </p><p> </p><p> I decided to use Tsuneyo Yanagimoto as a legacy talent and went with Zero Optimus, so its an indirect legacy. More like a takeoff legacy. He definitely could have worked under his own name and didn't "need" the legacy to succeed. </p><p> </p><p> In my developmental company, I have California Love Machine working as American Optimus II. I also brought in Marcel LeFleur and have him working as Black Cobra II, which is a nice little connection since he is actually Duane Stone's protege. </p><p> </p><p> Worth mentioning that I'm not ONLY looking for legacies. I do also find it quite fun and enjoyable to come up with new masked characters as well. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="LlamaSquad" data-cite="LlamaSquad" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41359" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>EAGLE Kawasawa is an Optimus protege, but he’s at Middleweight. However, Kawasawa himself trained JOJI, so...</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Came really close to signing Kawasawa right at the start. I always used to on older C-verse versions. I just dislike that he's a negative influence Locker Room Leader. And not quite good enough in the ring for that to not matter. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="KnowYourEnemy" data-cite="KnowYourEnemy" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41359" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Have to keep that in mind. JOJI has real potential, and is worthy of the mask.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> JOJI has been on the roster of my child company and hasn't really developed. Not under a developmental deal, though. If he does okay there, I might give him a developmental deal just to see if he improves. The drug history is concerning but I can just test him when finalizing the offer to see if he still uses or not.</p>

I signed JOJI with TCW and he's definitely off the drugs, at least in my game. He's a solid hand.

Eagle is interesting. I hear you BP. One thing to consider is that he's a protege of Optimus. When I had him on the BHOWTG side of my game, Optimus gave him tips and he turned out better for it. And Eagle would do the same for JOJI. In my game, Kokan mentors Crimson Ghost and Kokan himself is mentored by Elemental I. E2 still gives Kokan tips despite him being on the decline and Kokan obviously give tips to Ghost. There's better options but I think anything that can result in something like the Optimus-Eagle-JOJI chain is something to think about.

I can't say much about entertainment skills, but in-ring, JOJI always performs well for me, and has in multiple games. He's pretty much a must-sign for any RTG or smaller company and has room and time for improvement. I don't really worry about the drugs issue -- it's just soft drugs with him. Mystic Dragon, for example, is (or has been) a soft drug user, and I never have performance issues with him.

I had Golden Scorpion take on Crimson Ghost as a protege before. I think in the future with Ghost, I wait to see who picks him up and have him as a legacy.

Personally I don't factor performance -- I just make sure the guy is a competent midcarder.

For those who've moved back to a touring schedule: how do you handle TV? For Lords of the Ring, do I need to stick to short-term deals and air when the company tours? Or, will the game automatically switch to highlights during the off-months?

Do you broadcast tour dates, or instead broadcast highlights?

<p>I'm starting up a new Burning Hammer Game with the following touring schedule:</p><p>

three, three month tours</p><p>

two touring days/week (tue., thu.)</p><p>

one television taping (mon., show tue.)</p><p>

one monthly event (fri. week 4)</p><p> </p><p>

broadcasters:</p><p>

touring highlights on Japan Sports Vision</p><p>

television (tue.) on Japan Sports Vision</p><p> </p><p>

I've set up my TV Show to expire within three months. I don't plan on renewing it during rest period, so this means the show will only run during touring months. </p><p> </p><p>

I have a pretty good idea where the title is going and who I'm going to push.</p><p> </p><p>

Jan. (Inferno of Purity): Ino d. Kikkawa ©</p><p>

Feb. (Burning World Cup): Ino © d. Kikkawa</p><p>

Mar. (Fire Dream Immortals): Ino © d. Toshusai </p><p> </p><p>

I'm not entirely sure about who I'm going to have win in March -- I want Tadakuni Toshusai to hold the belt before the year is out. Eventually, I plan on making him figurehead. He hits B Psychology pretty quickly and with his charisma and star quality, he makes a good future star. I've just about always strapped a rocket to the guy, and it usually pans out. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm hoping his move down to light heavyweight pays dividends. Guy <em>should</em> be close to A star quality. </p><p> </p><p>

I really want to make his feud with Ino, his former tag partner who left for the states, special -- they'll probably have matches at both <strong>Night of The Burning Hammer </strong>and <strong>Fire Dream of the Immortals</strong>. Ideally, I'd like to have a stipulation for the rematch at Fire Dream of the Immortals, but I'm not sure what would be the <em>least</em> inappropriate for such a big match.</p>

<p>Out of interest, would a lucha de apuestas match be unheard of in puro heavyweights and/or juniors? Say:</p><p> </p><p>

title vs. career</p><p>

hair vs. title</p><p>

title vs. mask</p><p> </p><p>

NJPW seems to occasionally have them recently, but that may be more due to their partnership with CMLL. </p><p> </p><p>

I almost always book one at some point if I can, regardless of product. I don't know if winning one gets a guy any more over, but it justifies a rematch and shakes up the losing character's gimmick.</p>

<p>I will probably look to at least bring Eagle in on a tour deal. If Optimus passes down a few tips.... </p><p> </p><p>

Switching back to a touring schedule becomes something of a hybrid situation. The TV show remains a regular TV show. I also added a B show, after awhile, which functions just like any other B show. Tour highlights will only be broadcast if you set up a specific broadcast deal for them. They don't show as a TV show at all like they used to. If you have a deal for touring highlights, when you run a tour show (a weekly event that isn't being broadcast), the show ends up with a message about being highlights being broadcast later. You can't see ratings, at least from what I could find. </p><p> </p><p>

My current schedule is TV on Monday (broadcast same day), tour show Tuesday, Thursday, PPVs are Fridays (week 3), tour show Saturday (this get switched to dormant and not run some weeks), and B show Sunday. Tour shows are 3 hours, but I also switched the match-angle ratio down to 90% so I run some angles. </p><p> </p><p>

And I know mask-vs-hair matches have happened in Japan but I don't think all that often. Tanahashi has a couple under his belt. If you are trying to take Burning Hammer global - that's the goal for me and Jon - then introducing some elements from other wrestling areas makes a load of sense in trying to penetrate those areas.</p>

I really want to make Ino vs. Toshusai a blood feud. I will either book a title vs. hair or career or an "I Quit" match at Fire Dream.</p>
