CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES FIRST ROUND

Motor City Machine Guns v CM Punk & Colt Cabana

The opening contest in a stacked card is the first of four matches in the Crowning Glory Series tournaments. This one was rather one sided with CM Punk & Colt Cabana looking much the better team and CM Punk in particular standing out. The win duly came in 6:09 when Colt Cabana defeated Chris Sabin by pinfall with a Colt 45. 69

CM Punk & Colt Cabana have won their last seven matches.

http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/GenericTagTeam02_zpsa9f639bc.jpg

PSW NATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Dragon's Army (Iven Lessard & Iven Michaud) v Spanish Announce Team

Prior to the match starting, Bret Hart came striding down to the ring. With the two teams in the ring and ready to battle, Bret reminded everybody that any interference would result in that person being fired, but he had one more trick up his sleeve. Bret also ordered the champions to remove their Super Dragon masks before the match or they will forfeit their titles to Spanish Announce Team. Reluctantly, Iven Lessard and Iven Michaud did so and had to compete unmasked.

The match then followed a similar pattern as their previous contests. Spanish Announce Team had the better of the match and scored near falls and nearly escaped a couple of times. Then the match took a familiar turn…

Three Super Dragons then made their way to the ring as both Joel and Jose Maximo were climbing the cage. One of them intercepted Jose part way up and kicked him off the cage to the mat below. The other two met Joel Maximo at the top of the cage, over powered him and threw him to the canvas way below them. It was a hard fall.

The two Ivens then finished the match off in 11:29 when Iven Michaud defeated Jose Maximo by pinfall with a Scorpion Slice. Dragon's Army make defence number 3 of their PSW National Tag Team Championship titles. 53

Jose Maximo is improving in rumble skills.

Dragon's Army have won their last seven matches.

We are now in the office of the Director of Operations. Adam Copeland is standing in front of Bret Hart who is behind his desk. Bret says he can't allow Copeland to compete tonight. Copeland is insistent, saying he wants his title back and no Director of Operations or doctors will stop him. Bret is very reluctant but agrees on one condition. He brings out a piece of paper and says that to compete tonight Adam Copeland must sign this document that absolves Bret Hart, PSW or anybody involved with the company of any responsibility should Adam Copeland suffer any adverse reaction to his serious concussion. Copeland eagerly signs and leaves. 74

Adam Copeland under performed.

Bret Hart looked good.

PSW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

Linda Miles (champion) v Nora Greenwald

A keenly fought contest between two of the best female wrestlers in North America today. The atch ebbed and flowed with both women very nearly defeating the other. A close contest was just about edged by Nora Greenwald in 13:29 by pinfall with a Molly Go Round. Nora Greenwald wins the PSW Women's Championship title. 59

Linda Miles loses her first PSW match after five wins.

CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES FIRST ROUND

The Colons v The Wolves

This was a much closer match than the first match of the night in the same Series. Colons and Wolves went toe to toe in a match full of athleticism. The Wolves pulled it off in 10:26 when Davey Richards defeated Eddie Colon by pinfall with a Double Double Foot Stomp. 59

Eddie and Carly Colon don't work well as a tag team, their timing is all over the place.

http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic04_zpsownldjao.jpg

PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

Kevin Steen (champion) v Roderick Strong

A great match between two of the best young wrestlers around. Roderick Strong gave the dominant champion his sternest test yet and took him to the limit. Steen dug deep and just overcame his challenger in 14:13 by submission with a Crossface. Kevin Steen makes defence number 24 of his PSW Youth Championship title and take his championship reign to eleven months in length. 75

Kevin Steen has won his last twelve matches.

Roderick Strong is improving in rumble skills.

http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/GenericTV01_zps79d95516.jpg

PSW TV TITLE

Matt Sydal (champion) v T. J. Perkins

This match was every bit as good as the one preceeding it, it was every bit of close as it and the champion is becoming as dominant as the Youth champion. Perhaps a champion versus champion match would tickle some taste buds..?

The one difference is the two competitors are occasional tag team partners, in fact they are due to team up in the First Round of the Crowning Glory Tag Team Series. Sydal just got the better of his friend in 16:35 by submission. Matt Sydal makes defence number 17 of his PSW TV Title. T. J. P. shows his respect by hugging Sydal after the match. 75

CROWNING GLORY SERIES FIRST ROUND

Randy Orton v Lance Storm

A technical match with a bit of bruising action thrown in for good measure saw one of the favourites go out in the opening round although the result of the match would be difficult to justify as an upset. The stoic Canadian got the better of his calculating rival when Lance Storm won in 16:08 by submission with a Canadian Maple Leaf. 70

CROWNING GLORY SERIES FIRST ROUND

Yoshihiro Tajiri v Chris Jericho

Best match of the night so far, but then Chris Jericho is in it and a bad match with Chris Jericho in it never happens. He was also the better man here, although Tajiri put up a good fight and was close to putting Jericho away on occasion. Jericho is many people's favourite to win the Crowning Glory Series and evidence from tonight won't change many minds. His win came in 19:08 by submission with a Lion Tamer. 78 – match of the night

http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic11_zps25f9747a.jpg

PSW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Rob Van Dam (champion) v Adam Copeland

A lot of people thought this match wouldn't happen tonight and is only going ahead because Adam Copeland has agreed to waive PSW and it's employees of any liability should anything happen to him tonight.

The match drifted a little and as a result it wasn't as good as many had hoped. At first RVD was reluctant to lock up with Copeland until Copeland slapped him across the face. Copeland looked physically fine for the majority of the match and came close a few times to recapturing the National Championship.

However, he grew weak towards the end as it became apparent he hasn't recovered from the concussion he sustained at Top of the World. As twenty five minutes ticked by and with Rob Van Dam poised to attack, Copeland slumped against the ropes, made his way along them to the corner and then sat in the corner. Referee Bruce Gray took one looked at him and called for the bell in 25:23. Rob Van Dam makes defence number 2 of his PSW National Championship title. 75

Bret Hart is in the ring. The Director of Operations say he has some problems he has to address. The first is the Super Dragons. He says he barred Super Dragons from interfering in the cage match last night at Championship Fight Night IX but he has a dilemma. He knows who three of the Super Dragons are. One is Super Dragon and two others are the current National Tag Team champions. However he doesn't know who the other two are and Bret says he doesn't know how he can punish two people he doesn't know who they are. 77[/b

Bret Hart struggled going off script.

Drew McIntyre v Eddie Colon

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Drew McIntyre defeated Eddie Colon in 9:11 by pinfall with a Thee Move. 57

We are now in the office of Bret Hart. Bret says his second problem is Adam Copeland. He says he cannot allow Adam Copeland to continue with what is evidently a major concussion and as a result he is suspending him indefinitely. He says this creates another problem and that is Adam Copeland's suspension creates a space in the Crowning Glory Series. He says the fairest way is to give his spot to the next wrestler in the Grappler's League First Division who didn't qualify. The camera pans round to reveal that Caprice Coleman is with Bret in his office. Bret congratulates Coleman on qualifying and says his Crowning Glory Series First Round match is next against Keiji Sakoda. 59

Bret Hart used the freedom to improvise to his advantage.

CROWNING GLORY SERIES FIRST ROUND

Caprice Coleman v Keiji Sakoda

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Keiji Sakoda defeated Caprice Coleman in 10:21 by submission. 60

Bret Hart and Kevin Steen are in the ring. Kevin Steen says he is proud to be the PSW Youth champion. Bret tells Steen that the time of year is coming around again for Choice of the New Generation, where the Youth champion gets the choice to give up his Youth Championship in return for a shot at the PSW National Championship. Steen asks Bret for time to think about it, which Bret grants him, telling him he has until Choice of the New Generation to decide. 62

Bret Hart improvised well.

Alex Wright v Chris Hero

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Chris Hero defeated Alex Wright in 10:55 by pinfall with a Heros Welcome. 45

Rob Van Dam speaks from the locker room, with the PSW National Championship belt glistering in the reflection of the lights. He tells Kevin Steen through the camera that he is ready if he wants to take his shot. 67

CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES FIRST ROUND

Matt Sydal (TV champion) & T. J. Perkins v Spanish Announce Team

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Matt Sydal & T.J. Perkins defeated Spanish Announce Team in 12:26 when Matt Sydal defeated Jose Maximo by submission. SAT have not had a good couple of months. 70

Joel Maximo is improving in performance skills.

Chris Jericho walks out to the ring, looking the happiest he has since losing the National Championship. He says he is happy he won last night in the Crowning Glory Series but states it is only the first step for the best in the business, he has three more matches to win before he can headline the biggest show in PSW's year. 86

Chris Jericho did a masterful job improvising with the crowd.

AJ Styles & CM Punk v Jeff Jarrett & Lance Storm

A tag team main event between four of the competitors in the Crowning Glory Series. In a bout that featured great action and average heat, Jeff Jarrett and Lance Storm defeated AJ Styles and CM Punk in 17:47 when Jeff Jarrett defeated AJ Styles by submission with a Figure-Four Leglock. 83 – match of the night
