In the ring stand Bret Hart, Roderick Strong and Sting. Bret Hart asks Roderick Strong to confirm that he wants to forfeit the Youth Championship in return for a match on Sunday night at Choice of the New Generation. Strong says he does, and hands over the Youth Championship belt to Bret Hart. Hart makes it official, Strong will challenge Chris Jericho for the National Championship in six days time.

This brings out Chris Jericho. He gets in Roderick Strong's face, telling him this will be something he will regret for the rest of his life as he kicks his ass so bad he won't know who he is after Sunday night. Sting steps in and backs Jericho down, who leaves while holding up his National Championship belt. 65

Roderick Strong performed poorly.

CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES QUARTER FINAL

Thunder & Lightning v The Wolves

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, The Wolves defeated Thunder & Lightning in 8:37 when Eddie Edwards defeated Jushin Liger by pinfall with a Double Double Foot Stomp. 60

Davey Richards is improving in rumble skills.

Low Ki's six match win streak ends.

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsT9x4T-nY9Jcd8EzOkUGpfdF_-6cmGEgv7wipQdC21OKs3f_J

While Caprice Coleman is celebrating in the ring, cameras follow Low Ki in the back. He is clearly angry at losing the TV Title and he comes across his opponent for Sunday night, AJ Styles. Ki viciously attacks Styles, throwing him into a chain link fence that cordons off electrical equipment from the walkway. 53

CROWNING GLORY SERIES QUARTER FINAL

CM Punk v Teddy Hart

In a bout that featured great action and average heat, CM Punk defeated Teddy Hart in 12:01 by submission with an Arm Triangle Choke. 68

Teddy Hart could do with something to freshen his character up.

Bret Hart is in the ring again with the Youth Championship belt. He tells Aaron Stevens, Kevin Steen and Matt Sydal to come to the ring. He says he is sure they are all aware the Youth Championship is now vacant and he has decided the three of them will meet at Choice of the New Generation to decide who will become the next champion. The three look pleased, and eye each other as opponents. 53

Lance Storm v Rob Van Dam

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Daniel Lyon defeated Drew McIntyre in 10:13 by submission. 63

CHOICE OF THE NEW GENERATION 2008

Sunday, week 2, August 2008

Dorton Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSYSawaGcoEjJlW3mlTOlSrxvC-HohFw8IiLMPlcFD83KSxDrWe

D'Lo Brown v Psychosis

D'Lo looked unhappy and was off his game in the show's opener between two men who clearly aren't part of the new generation. As a result of D'Lo's poor effort, Psychosis had a comfortable time and duly prevailed in 11:43 by pinfall with a Guillotine Legdrop. 58

CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES QUARTER FINAL

Cade Thesz & Rob Van Dam v Londrick

A good match between an established team who were long time champions in the past and a new team of protege and mentor who are fast becoming one of the top teams in the company. It was the new team who beat the former champions to make it five wins out of five in 10:50 when Cade Thesz defeated Brian Kendrick by submission. 68

Cade Thesz suffered a cut arm in the match.

Jeff Jarrett v Randy Orton

A great match as the veteran got the better of the former PSW National champion. Orton had his chances to put away the guitar playing son of Jerry, but was unable to complete the job and ultimately he ended up suffering defeat in 14:33 as Jarrett won by submission with a Figure-Four Leglock. 73

Chris Jericho speaks from backstage, warning Sting to stay out of the match tonight or he will suffer consequences. 70

Jericho struggled going off script.

http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic04_zpsownldjao.jpg

PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

Aaron Stevens v Kevin Steen v Matt Sydal

Some great action in the triple threat involved the three leading contenders for the vacant Youth Championship. Stevens and Sydal were probably the favourites going into the match so it came as a bit of a surprise that neither of them left as the champion as Kevin Steen became the sixth PSW Youth champion, winning in 13:07 by defeating Matt Sydal by pinfall with a Steenalizer. Kevin Steen wins the PSW Youth Championship title. 65

Matt Sydal is improving in performance skills.

CROWNING GLORY SERIES QUARTER FINAL

Low Ki v AJ Styles

Both men fought with purpose and produced a tremendous contest. AJ withstood Ki's hard hitting offence while Ki countered AJ's aerial attack very well. It was AJ who advanced to the semi finals in 13:34 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. 73

AJ Styles has switched to a Highlight Reel gimmick, rated 63.

The two wrestlers didn't click which made for an awkward bout.

http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/GenericTagTeam02_zpsa9f639bc.jpg

PSW NATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

CM Punk & Colt Cabana (champions) v Christopher Daniels & Stu Sanders

Despite being an unlikely pairing who only ever teamed together once before at Lethal, Daniels and Sanders displayed excellent chemistry and team work. With this, they caused the current champions many problems in the match and threatened to pull off the upset. The champs hung on though and just about made a successful first defence in 10:12 when Colt Cabana defeated Stu Sanders by pinfall with a Lakeshore Drive. CM Punk & Colt Cabana make defence number 1 of their PSW National Tag Team Championship titles. 66

Stu Sanders is improving in flying skills.

Eiji Ezaki v Lance Storm

Despite some great action on show, this was a little disappointing and wasn't as well received as many expected it to be. This was mainly because the two didn't click and it made the bout look awkward. Ezaki's rising popularity thanks to the success of his 'Jap Pop' album has seen him win many new fans, though they didn't help him when Lance Storm locked on his signature hold to take the match in 17:41 by submission with a Canadian Maple Leaf. 64

PSW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Chris Jericho (champion) v Roderick Strong (with Sting)

The stand out match of the night as Roderick Strong, making his main event debut and competiting well above his normal level not only stepped up to the plate, but performed exceptionally well. With the Icon in his corner (though Sting never physically got involved) encouraging all the way, as did the seven thousand or so crowd, Roderick Strong nearly upset the odds and won the National Championship. Jericho hung on and eventually bettered his challenger in 20:43 by submission with a Lion Tamer. Chris Jericho makes defence number 2 of his PSW National Championship title. Even Jericho was impressed by Strong's performance and shook his hand after the match, showing a new found respect for his opponent tonight. 81 – match of the night

Chris Jericho won his sixth straight match.

Roderick Strong is improving in rumble skills.

Roderick Strong's win streak ends at seven.

Show rating: B- 76

Attendance: 7,095 (sixth highest in PSW history)
