PSW WEEKLY

Broadcast on America One on Tuesday late evening

Announcers: Potter & Dusty Rhodes

Wicomico Civic Center, Salisbury, Maryland

Bret Hart starts the show. He says he has challengers lined up for Sunday night at Choice of the New Generation for the the National Tag Team champions Dragon's Army, and they will wait until the show to find out who they are. 27

Bret Hart did not do well without a script.

Carly Colon v Stu Sanders

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Carly Colon defeated Stu Sanders in 9:12 by pinfall with an Outward Rolling Cutter. 45

Carly Colon ended a run of ten straight defeats.

Chris Jericho is backstage with a bowl of balls. He says that in here are the balls that will determine his fate, and who he will beat in the Crowning Glory Series Quarter Final. He says he can't wait to find out. 85

Chris Jericho improvised well.

CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES FIRST ROUND

New Wave v Jay Lethal & Low Ki

The last match of the last round features the third and final wild card team. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, New Wave defeated Jay Lethal and Low Ki in 10:13 when Austin Aries defeated Low Ki by pinfall with a Brainbuster. 57

Austin Aries debuted his God's Gift to Women gimmick, rated 77.

Low Ki was unprofessional and clearly was not trying at all.

New Wave have won their last five matches.

Austin Aries is improving in technical skills.

Backstage and Jeff Jarrett is excited to see Lance Storm. Lance Storm isn't excited to see Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett tells “his new team mate” he has a gift for him, and Jarrett gives Lance a guitar. Lance doesn't look interested in it, but seemingly not wanting to hurt Jarrett's feelings, he thanks him and walks off with it. 54

PSW TV TITLE

Matt Sydal (champion) v Rocky Romero

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Matt Sydal defeated Rocky Romero in 10:21 by submission. Matt Sydal makes defence number 19 of his PSW TV Title. 61

Rocky Romero has lost his last eight matches.

Rob Van Dam and Kevin Steen meet backstage. The National champion somewhat surprisingly apologies to the now former Youth champion, telling Steen he respects him as a champion and that RVD (including the pose) knows who great a champion needs to be to hold a championship for a year. Steen acknowledges RVD's gesture, shakes his hand and says “may the best man win”. 52

CROWNING GLORY SERIES FIRST ROUND

John Cena v Eiji Ezaki

The final First Round match was one of the most anticipated. In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, John Cena defeated Eiji Ezaki in 12:54 by pinfall with a Spin-out powerbomb. 74 – match of the night

A lack of psychology saw the match drift a little.

John Cena has won his last five matches.

Alex Wright v Chris Benoit

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Chris Benoit defeated Alex Wright in 14:40 by pinfall with a Dragon Suplex. 70

Alex Wright has lost his last five matches.

During the final commercial break, the bowl of balls has made it to the ring. Maybe it was carried, maybe it teleported there. Who knows? It is TV land. Bret Hart is in the ring and he makes the two Quarter Final draws… First is the Crowning Glory Tag Team Series…

CM Punk & Colt Cabana v Desperate Measures

Caprice Coleman & Stu Sanders v The Wolves

New Wave v Londrick

Matt Sydal & T. J. Perkins v Amazing Red & Christopher Daniels

Then it is the Crowning Glory Series…

Kevin Steen v Keiji Sakoda

Lance Storm v Jeff Jarrett

Chris Jericho v AJ Styles

John Cena v CM Punk

Which ones are you anticipating..? 74

Bret Hart opens the show from the ring, saying he is delighted to be able to bring one of PSW's big shows to the Mid Atlantic area for the first time and he hopes everybody enjoys the matches. <strong>79</strong></p><p>

Bret Hart did a masterful job improvising with the crowd.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Alex Shelley v Drew McIntyre v Ricky Steamboat Jr v Roderick Strong</strong></p><p>

A chaotic match as all four competitors competed at the same time for the vacant Youth Championship. All four men came close to winning the title and the winner was somewhat of a surprise despite the impressive winning run he has been on of late, as the end came in 11:11 when Alex Shelley defeated Roderick Strong by submission with a Border City Stretch. Alex Shelley wins the PSW Youth Championship title, his first championship in his four and a half years in PSW. <strong>51</strong></p><p>

Alex Shelley has won his last nine matches.</p><p>

Ricky Steamboat Jr is improving in performance skills.</p><p>

<strong>PSW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Nora Greenwald (champion) v Linda Miles</strong></p><p>

This is Miles' rematch from Greenwald winning the title from her last month at Championship Fight Night IX. This match was an improvement on their previous meeting and again it was a close contest. Again it had the same winner as Greenwald retained in 11:30 by pinfall with a Molly Go Round. Nora Greenwald makes defence number 2 of her PSW Women's Championship title. <strong>61</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Dragon's Army (champions) v Briscoe Brothers</strong></p><p>

Only two Super Dragons came down to the ring at the start of the match but as expected it didn't stay that way. As the Briscoe Brothers gained control of the match and had one of the Super Dragons ready to be finished off, the other Super Dragon in the match distracted referee Wes Adams. Both Briscoe Brothers came over to knock the distracting Super Dragon off the apron. However, this allowed a third Super Dragon to appear from under the ring. He pulled the Super Dragon out of the ring who was in trouble lying on the mat and took his place. He played possum and tricked the Briscoes to win the match in 10:06 when he defeated Jay Briscoe by pinfall with a Scorpion Slice. Dragon's Army make defence number 4 of their PSW National Tag Team Championship titles. <strong>52</strong></p><p>

Dragon's Army have won their last eight matches.</p><p>

Iven Michaud is improving in rumble skills.</p><p> </p><p>

Chris Jericho speaks from backstage. He laughs that only in PSW can he be drawn against a man he greatly respects in the Quarter Finals of the Crowning Glory Series. He says that despite the respect they share, he will beat AJ Styles tonight. <strong>70</strong></p><p>

Chris Jericho was terrible without a script to follow.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES QUARTER FINAL</strong></p><p><strong>

Matt Sydal & T. J. Perkins v Amazing Red & Christopher Daniels</strong></p><p>

A very fast paced and hugely entertaining match if you like the action in the air. If you like traditional mat based grappling then this was the time for a drinks break. It was a very even match and it was Sydal and TJP who sneaked it to advance to the Semi Finals in 13:19 when Matt Sydal defeated Amazing Red by submission. <strong>59</strong></p><p>

T. J. Perkins is improving in technical skills.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES QUARTER FINAL</strong></p><p><strong>

CM Punk & Colt Cabana v Desperate Measures</strong></p><p>

Any doubts Colt Cabana seems to have over CM Punk seemed to be cast aside here as Punk had a long spell in the ring before making the hot tag to his partner. This match between two established rivals and former champions finished in 14:03 when Colt Cabana defeated Yoshihiro Tajiri by pinfall with a Colt 45. <strong>74</strong></p><p>

Aaron Stevens is improving in technical skills.</p><p>

CM Punk & Colt Cabana have won their last eight matches.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CROWNING GLORY SERIES QUARTER FINAL</strong></p><p><strong>

Lance Storm v Jeff Jarrett</strong></p><p>

This was a strange one. Jarrett seemed reluctant to lock up with his new found friend to start with, though Lance didn't have any hesitation in competing and quickly took control of the match. Jarrett realised he had better compete or he will be knocked out of the Crowning Glory Series.</p><p>

The end was a little strange too. Jarrett showed his friendly demeanour towards Lance was all an act, as following Bruce Gray getting knocked down in an accident collision between he and Lance Storm, Jarrett got a guitar from under the ring – the same guitar he had given to Lance Storm on PSW Weekly earlier this week. He proceeded to smash the guitar of the head of a woozy Lance Storm before throwing the evidence out of the ring and advancing in 18:13 by pinfall.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CROWNING GLORY SERIES QUARTER FINAL</strong></p><p><strong>

Chris Jericho v AJ Styles</strong></p><p>

The respect between the two men is obvious as they shook hands before the match and although they were competitive, they both impeccably played by the rules – pretty much unheard of in modern day wrestling.</p><p>

The match swung back and forth and was as every bit as good as their previous matches and worthy of being the Crowning Glory Series Final. The draw ensured it was in the Quarter Finals and Jericho once again got the better of his younger rival, though you know AJ's day will come. This one ended in 23:41 by submission with a Lion Tamer. <strong>96 – match of the night</strong></p><p>

The two share great chemistry and it showed in their performances.</p><p>

Chris Jericho has won his last five matches.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic11_zps25f9747a.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>PSW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Rob Van Dam (champion) v Kevin Steen</strong></p><p>

Steen has been a dominant Youth champion. It was at this event twelve months ago he won the Youth Championship and it was only a couple of weeks ago he gave it up to take this opportunity at the National Championship and an opportunity nobody can say he doesn't deserve.</p><p>

It was asking an awful lot for this to be able to follow the quality of the previous match and it came as no surprise that it didn't, but that certainly wasn't because of a lack of effort on the wrestlers' part.</p><p>

Steen took the fight to the champion. He had RVD in trouble a few times and hit a Pop Up Power Bomb only for RVD to roll outside to the arena floor. The normally unflappable RVD looked a little worried.</p><p>

He regroup, used his years of experience and nous and managed to get the better of his young challenger to retain the title in 22:01 by pinfall with a Frog Splash. Rob Van Dam makes defence number 3 of his PSW National Championship title. Steen came very close and has put people on notice as to what he may well become. <strong>81</strong></p><p>

A lack of psychology saw the match drift a little.</p><p>

Kevin Steen's win streak ended at thirteen.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show rating: B 82</strong></p><p>

PSW has increased in popularity in Mid Atlantic.</p><p>

Attendance: 7,773</p><p>

Profit: $84,230</p><p> </p><p>

Chris Jericho v AJ Styles was PSW's fourth best ever match.</p><p>

Bret Hart opens the show from the squared circle. The Director of Operations says he is sick to the back teeth of the Super Dragons running roughshod over the tag team division and having a tainted tag team reign. Bret lists the great champions of years gone past… The Road Warriors, Harlem Heat, The Rock and Roll Express, The Hart Foundation… they are tainting all their good work and it has to stop. Bret tells everybody he has another mystery team lined up to challenge for the titles at One Step Away. 71

Bret Hart worked the crowd well.

Eddie Colon v Joe Hennig

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Eddie Colon defeated Joe Hennig in 7:54 by pinfall with an Outward Rolling Cutter. 49

Chris Jericho is backstage. He says he is both happy and relieved to have beaten AJ Styles last night as he is a brilliant wrestler. He says he can now relax and look forward to the Semi Finals of the Crowning Glory Series while four other men still have to work their balls off to get their. 85

CM Punk and Colt Cabana are backstage. Colt admits to Punk he was wrong and that Punk showed last night he is fully committed to the Crowning Glory Tag Team Series despite also being in the Crowning Glory Series as well. Punk hugs Colt. 51

CROWNING GLORY SERIES QUARTER FINAL

Kevin Steen v Keiji Sakoda

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Kevin Steen defeated Keiji Sakoda in 13:48 by pinfall with a Steenalizer. 61

Bret Hart is in the ring again, this time he is with the National champion Rob Van Dam. Bret tells RVD he is going to introduce his next challenger and RVD says he is looking forward to it. Before Bret can introduce his challenger, the music of Chris Benoit plays and he walks straight to the ring and stands toe to toe with the champion. We may never know if Benoit was Bret's planned challenger for RVD, but Bret tells everybody he is. 66
