WCW 1995: A New World of Disorder

Recommended Posts

What if, in 1995 on the debut episode of Nitro, instead of the invasion of Lex Luger and the attack of the Dungeon of Doom... we saw the formation of a New World Order?

A New World Order... with new talent. Hungry ambitions. Raw creativity. A world unbridled by the traditional way of doing business.

What if the Old Guard was forced to fight for the very lives starting on episode one of Nitro?

For years, we've seen the undercard of the Golden Age of Nitro as a breeding ground for the revolutionary talent of the years to come. But for all of that talent, the only chance to grab a brass ring would come in WWF - if at all. The Eddies, the Reys, the Y2Js... everything that was discovered in WCW, in our world, matriculated in WWF.

Now let's rewind the clock.

new_nwo.png

"Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman. And today I come to you as the new Creative Executive of W. C. W. Gone are the days of Hulkamania, gone are the crowds that would flock to His Majesty, the King of Macho Madness. And the fans aren't saying 'woo'; they're saying 'who?'

That's not to say there isn't a place for the old guard. But be prepared; because what comes next will throw the entire world into chaos.

What comes next, is Monday Nitro."

I'm your host Eric Bischoff alongside Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and Mike Tenay on commentary. Tonight is the first ever episode of wrestling LIVE on television across the nation. You won't find hotter or better acts than this anywhere in the world today!</p><p> </p><p> But with me right now is the man of the hour, WCW Champion Hulk Hogan. Hulk, you have a few words for our viewers?"</p><p> </p><p> "Let me tell you something, Eric. Ever since I came to the WCW a year ago, it's been nothing but a non-stop party. This train is pulling into the big time station now, as we've reached more viewers and little Hulkamaniacs than ever before. We've been living in a Golden Age, my man. And tonight, to celebrate that, you and I cooked up a little plan, didn't we, Eric my man?"</p><p> </p><p> "That's right Hulk. Should we tell them what's so special about the inaugural episode of Monday Nitro?"</p><p> </p><p> "They aren't gonna want to touch that dial, are they, Bischoff?"</p><p> </p><p> "Darn right they won't! Because tonight, for the first time ever, all of the WCW titles will be defended LIVE here on TNT! Every single one of them! How about that Television Title? How about those Tag Titles? How about the one and only STINGER with his US Title?"</p><p> </p><p> "And you know that means tonight I'll defend my World Heavyweight Title against none other than that dirty, stinky Giant!"</p><p> </p><p> "So don't go anywhere, because we'll be right back!"</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 88</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jushin Liger vs. Brian Pillman</strong></p><p> <img alt="Jushin_Liger.jpg" data-src="https://s24.postimg.org/omggl14xx/Jushin_Liger.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong> vs.</strong> <span>http://s1.postimg.org/c561bwnzv/Brian_Pillman_9.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> According to Mike Tenay, this storied rivalry has always been about mutual respect between two rising stars, but tonight was a bit different. While it featured both men in their usual high-flying prowess, Pillman grew more and more visibly frustrated until the end of the match, where he used the ropes to get leverage for the final pinfall, at 9:33. What was meant to be a fantastic kick-off match for the pilot episode of Nitro was already tainted amidst controversy.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <strong>Rating: 80</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/g6ci42bvb/Gene_Okerlund.jpg</span><img alt="Jushin_Liger.jpg" data-src="https://s24.postimg.org/omggl14xx/Jushin_Liger.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>http://s1.postimg.org/c561bwnzv/Brian_Pillman_9.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> After the match, Liger attempted to argue with the referee, pointing out what the crowd and the audience at home saw on replay. "The miracles of modern technology don't mean a thing to a quick wit like Pillman, I tell ya, Eric," Heenan commented.</p><p> </p><p> Mean Gene came out as officials escorted a visibly fuming Liger away. "Brian, you've had your mischievous moments over the years, of course. Need I remind fans of the Hollywood Blonds? But tonight, your win is certainly controversial at best."</p><p> </p><p> Brian grabbed the mic from Gene. "First of all, shut your damn mouth, you freaking fossil. As if you could even attempt to understand what I'm going through here. I'm a rightful contender. One of WCW's all-time greats. And how am I treated? Thrown into a match with a foreign midget in a Power Rangers costume. I'm Brian Pillman! I've invented moves in this ring that you've never even heard of yet! And I'm a freaking curtain-jerker to old has-beens like Hogan.</p><p> </p><p> So guess what? Screw you guys. I'm outta here. I'm done with this crap."</p><p> </p><p> As he finished his interview, security guards came out to escort Pillman off of the premises. It was obvious that Heenan, Tenay and especially Bischoff had no real reaction. Bischoff tried to play it off, but to little effect, and he waved the camera off to commercial.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 72</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jim Duggan vs. Big Bubba Rogers</strong></p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/nzuthjzp3/Jim_Duggan_1.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://s3.postimg.org/cjj5785bz/Big_Bossman.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> After the break, Bischoff apologized for the behavior of Pillman, and acknowledged that it was unprofessional. You call these guys icons?"</p><p> </p><p> Duggan and Rogers rolled around in the ring, slowly jolting the crowd out of their shock, but when Rogers took a stiff punch from Duggan, he went for his brass knuckles. The ref would have DQed him right there if Jim Duggan hadn't tried to illegally tape up his fist. The two slammed their fists into each other, and both reeled in agony, clutching the hands covered in illegal weaponry. He gave another brief apology and the match for the Tag Titles began. Buck and Slater were moving like molasses through most of the match, but their larger statures allowed them to control the flow of the match. Riggs found himself trapped in the Buck and Slater's corner for the majority of the bout, but when Slater tripped himself up, Riggs flew to his corner, tagging in Bagwell, who took advantage of this sudden momentum. Bagwell ended up planting Buck on the mat and got the pin - and the titles - in 9:44.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 72</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/g6ci42bvb/Gene_Okerlund.jpg</span><span>http://s10.postimg.org/9xmj9q7bp/Randy_Savage_2.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> After a commercial break, Mean Gene interviewed the Macho Man himself, Randy Savage. Pretending to go for the Taskmaster, he rolled out of the ring, and the Giant followed. As he cocked his fist to hit the Taskmaster, the Giant lumbered up behind him and, without warning, Hulk Hogan turned quickly and clocked him right in the face. "Hello out there, wrestling fans! I'm Tony Schiavone alongside Dusty Rhodes and Mike Tenay, and we have a stacked Saturday Night for you tonight! But first, we've been asked to provide some comments on the status of Hulk Hogan. It does appear at this time that Hogan will be unable to compete for several weeks due to the unprovoked attack of Brian Pillman at the end of Monday Nitro."</p><p> </p><p>

"Y'know Tony, I'm not just an announcer here. I'm a former wrestler, the American Dream! And I'm also a goodwill ambassador for this auspicious company. So I've been asked to give a statement on behalf of WCW. WCW is in no way responsible for the behavior of Brian Pillman on Monday. Effective as of Monday night, Pillman is on an indefinite unpaid suspension. Furthermore, Paul Heyman, formerly known in WCW as Paul E. Dangerously, is banned from any and all WCW events, pending legal action. Folks, this isn't business as usual. We here at WCW apologize profusely for what happened on Monday. We attempt to bring a family-friendly product to you every week. But, no one here was aware or had any notion that Pillman would do what he did. We ask for your understanding, fans, as we deal with this situation in court."</p><p> </p><p>

"Thank you, Dream."</p><p> </p><p>

"Tony, it's an unfortunate situation. Let's not talk about it any longer. We've got a big show tonight!"</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 86</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Tim Horner vs. Arn Anderson</strong> - Anderson dominated this short match from the very outset; the announcers focused on discussion of Arn and Flair's reunion at the inaugural episode of Nitro, and they mused on what this could eventually lead to. Anderson was extremely efficient, earning a spinebuster in 6 minutes for the one. <strong>Rating: 72</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Tony Schiavone talked about the growing global influence of WCW which would allow fans to see a much more international reach in the wrestling world. Cruiserweight stylings from talents like Eddie Guerrero and Alex Wright. A newly-forming Women's Division with Japanese talents. And even the signing of Lex Luger, a major star from right here in the US. <strong>Rating: 44</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Malia Hosaka vs. Luna Vachon</strong> - Hosaka and Vachon didn't get too much reaction initially, but the announcers hyped this new Women's Division and the two newest WCW signees. Hosaka's flying was impressive to be sure, but Luna Vachon's wild and unpredictable behavior led to her quick grab of Hosaka's hair. She smashed Hosaka's head into the turnbuckle before throwing her to the mat, grabbing a pin at 5:33. <strong>Rating: 34</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Lex Luger sat down with Mean Gene, discussing his plans and goals for his WCW tenure. Lex was quite frank about his immediate plans. "Look, Gene. Two things. That's all I have my sights on. First, destroying Ric Flair and Arn Anderson with my best friend Sting at my side. Second, snatching the World Heavyweight Title out of Hulk Hogan's hands." <strong>Rating: 89</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Scotty Riggs vs. Booker T</strong> - One half of the new tag team champions took on one half of a potential tag team title opposing team in this match. A long back and forth, Booker controlled the vast majority of the match, but Riggs made a late comeback that surprised and defied all expectations. However, just as quickly as Riggs came back and nearly pinned Booker, Booker reversed the pin attempt and stole it right out from under Riggs, grabbing a pin in 10:33. <strong>Rating: 63</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

After the match, Sensuous Sister Sherri hyped up her tag team clients, pointing out that Riggs' destruction was only a taste of what was coming. Booker and Stevie were on their way to the top, she claimed. - <strong>Rating: 62</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Scott Armstrong vs. The Giant</strong> - The Giant came out. The Giant saw. The Giant conquered with a chokeslam in a mere 1:33. <strong>Rating: 57</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

After the match, The Taskmaster hyped up the Giant's strength and prowess, and claimed that every single man in WCW would eventually be forced to bow to the Giant's might, including his father's greatest nemesis, Hulk Hogan. <strong>Rating: 83</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Renegade vs. Diamond Dallas Page</strong> - DDP was definitely out for blood. He savagely destroyed the once-mighty Renegade, screaming at him the entire match for costing him the Television Title. But somehow, the Renegade couldn't stay down. Eventually, Diamond Doll got up on the ring and distracted the ref for DDP, who used an illegal hold that forced the Renegade to pass out. When the ref turned around, DDP went quickly for a pin and won the match in 9:33. <strong>Rating: 67</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

DDP and Diamond Doll celebrated together and then warned Johnny B. Badd that they would be gunning for his belt just as soon as they won a #1 Contender's match. <strong>Rating: 58</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Blue Bloods vs. Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater</strong> - Buck and Slater were looking for some momentum and a win under their belt so they could seek out a new #1 Contender's match for their Tag Titles. They were utterly, utterly denied, as Bobby Eaton and Steven Regal thoroughly decimated the aging old coots. <strong>Rating: 71</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Randy Savage came out and made a statement to the live audience, informing them, too, of Hulk Hogan's injuries precluding him from wrestling for at least the next few weeks. Not once did he mention Pillman or Heyman, however. Savage also said that on Monday, he was scheduled for his big debut on Nitro, and his opponent would be Hogan's scheduled opponent for Monday since Hogan couldn't be there - the Giant. <strong>Rating: 87</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lex Luger vs. The Taskmaster</strong> - Try as the Taskmaster might, he was just no match for Lex Luger in his first match back in WCW. Luger and the Taskmaster brawled for over 15 minutes, with the Taskmaster trying every trick in the book to put Lex down, all to no avail. Lex was just too strong. Even interference from Dungeon of Doom members like Zodiac, Meng, and the Shark were met with failing results, and ultimately, the Taskmaster tapped to Luger's patented Torture Rack in 16:33. <strong>Rating: 77</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

After the match, Sting came out to celebrate with his friend on his monumental first win back in what Sting called "their home company". The two talked for a little while until Arn and Flair came out and claimed that they wouldn't let the two rest until Sting's US Title was around Flair's Woo-S waist. They stared each other down as Saturday Night went off the air. <strong>Rating: 80</strong></p><p> </p><p>

WCW Main Event</strong></p><p><strong>

First Aired: 1st Sunday of September, 1995</strong></p><p><strong>

The show opened with Sting celebrating the return of Lex Luger. He briefly discussed how, with Hogan and Vader seemingly out of the picture (although the details of Vader's disappearance were not mentioned), they would need to find a new group to take on the Dungeon of Doom. Sting's first - and only choice - was none other than the Total Package, Lex Luger. <strong>Rating: 89</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Frankie Lancaster vs. Hugh Morrus</strong> - After welcoming the newest member of the announcing team to the table ("The Brilliant Mind" of Lanny Poffo), Schiavone pointed out that Hugh Morrus was a young and untested talent, but it was quite obvious he was off of his rocker. Morrus destroyed Lancaster in about 5 minutes. <strong>Rating: 54</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, the Giant, Zodiac and the Taskmaster came out and offered Morrus a new home in the Dungeon of Doom, to which Morrus laughed heartily and accepted. <strong>Rating: 76</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bob Starr vs. Zodiac</strong> - The boos in the ring caused Zodiac to stay and harass the crowd. This led into his match with Bob Starr, a wrestler whom Zodiac crushed in about 6 minutes. <strong>Rating: 49</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Diamond Dallas Page was interviewed alongside Diamond Doll by Mean Gene in a pre-taped interview after his match on Saturday. Page demanded a #1 contendership match the following week, and Diamond Doll tried to calm his overflowing anger to no avail. <strong>Rating: 60</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Cobra vs. Maxx Muscle</strong> - Cobra had been racking up some wins in recent weeks, and this was no exception. Muscle, the former bodyguard of Diamond Dallas Page, lost in 8:03. <strong>Rating: 46</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Jim Duggan and Big Bubba Rogers were shown in a recorded segment from after Monday Nitro, where both men were still brawling after their inconclusive match during the show. Despite both clutching wounded hands, they battered each other until refs broke up the scene. Schiavone stated that their would be a rematch on Nitro tomorrow. <strong>Rating: 82</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Johnny B. Badd vs. Rip Rogers</strong> - The new Television Champ had an exhibition outing against the veteran Rogers. Despite craftiness being employed by his opponent, Badd still had the wherewithal to earn a pinfall victory at 9:33. <strong>Rating: 63</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Schiavone closed the show with a brief video showing Hulk Hogan backstage after Monday Nitro. Hogan seemed to be out of character completely, visiting with a doctor quietly as the doctor examined his neck. When the camera pressed in on Hogan, he quietly and with much strain in his voice said, "Don't worry, Hulkamaniacs. I'll be back." Schiavone never once mentioned Hogan's attacker, but simply touted that doctors predicted his return by Fall Brawl in just three weeks. <strong>Rating: 89</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>TV Rating: 0.56</strong></p>

I'm Eric Bischoff, alongside Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and Mike Tenay. We've got a huge show planned for you tonight, but we need to address the elephant in the room. Last week, a completely unplanned segment aired live featuring Brian Pillman working alongside a former employee of WCW. Pillman attacked and injured Hulk Hogan before launching into a profanity-laced rant to our live crowd. We at WCW are deeply apologetic if this caused any undue distress to our viewers around the United States, and the world.</p><p> </p><p> "Brian Pillman, as of this morning, has been released by WCW. Once again, we deeply, deeply apologize for inadvertantly airing the entire affair, and we will from this point forward endeavor to bring you the highest quality in-ring wrestling entertainment.</p><p> </p><p> With that said, let's go right to the ring for our first match!"</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 82</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Sting and Lex Luger vs. Arn Anderson and Ric Flair</strong></p><p> <span>http://s18.postimg.org/a8zmi3wj9/Sting.jpg</span><span>http://s21.postimg.org/e5lwvzdkz/Lex_Luger.jpg</span> <strong>vs. </strong><span>http://s13.postimg.org/s762vfe6r/Arn_Anderson_4.jpg</span><span>http://s11.postimg.org/9dcp2hqyn/Ric_Flair_7.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> From the outset of this match, it was clear that despite a long time apart, Luger and Sting were on the same page, in lockstep. They looked to control the match from the get-go, with Sting nearly getting a Scorpion Deathlock on Arn Anderson at the beginning of the match. However, Arn escaped, reversed, and went for a roll-up to no avail. Luger tagged in and took back control until Arn got Luger into the corner opposite of Sting. Flair and Arn tried to get Luger down, but this proved fruitless. Luger delivered an elbow to Flair and this bought Luger time to get back to his corner. Sting came in but Flair was ready, having tagged Arn in as well. Arn raked Sting's eyes, and as Sting tried to blindly wave his arms out for a tag, Flair came in and quickly rolled up Sting for a pinfall at 11:30.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <strong>Rating: 81</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s13.postimg.org/s762vfe6r/Arn_Anderson_4.jpg</span><span>http://s11.postimg.org/9dcp2hqyn/Ric_Flair_7.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> The former Horsemen partners celebrated their victory, as Luger helped Sting to the back, leading the way for his temporarily blinded partner. Flair grabbed a mic and wooed in jubilation. Arn took the mic from Flair and delivered a demand to WCW and a warning to Sting: "Now, I'm not a man with demands, I'm not a glory hound with aspirations. I'm just a wrestler who delivers the blows to bring home the paycheck, to provide for my family. And if it means I gotta make a man bleed, make a man blind, so be it. But Ric here, you don't want to tangle with Ric. And last I checked, pinning a reigning champion in a tag team match means get a shot at their belt. Ric's waist has been mighty, mighty empty for a short while. The Nasty Boys tried to use their size to an advantage, and this put the breaks on Stevie Ray any time he was in the ring. But Booker's swift precision, including a scissors kick, led to the Heat scoring a victory over the Nastys. The Nastys, for their part, seemed utterly floored that they would even have trouble with the Heat, and the loss saw the two teams argue until a ref sent the Nastys to the back. Booker and Stevie pantomimed belts strapped across their waists as the show went to commercial.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <strong>Rating: 75</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s10.postimg.org/9xmj9q7bp/Randy_Savage_2.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Next up was the triumphant entrance of the Macho Man! Macho came out to adulation from the crowd, but he quieted them down. "I see there's a lot of fans out there. Fans of the Macho Man, fans of the W-C-W... and then there are a lot of fans of the Hulkster, my ol' pal, Hulk Hogan. Now, I've been told not to dwell on the events of last week while I'm out here tonight, and I won't, but I want to assure all of the Hulkamaniacs out there that your hero, hell a hero of mine, a true warrior just like the Macho Man... Hulk Hogan is going to be a-ok. But where does that leave the Macho Man? Oh, I'll tell you what, I'll tell you something you all need to here from none other than Randy Savage. This Dungeon of Doom, they end at Fall Brawl. The Taskmaster wants to play a Game? How about a War Game! Oh yeah!</p><p> </p><p> "But if we're going to play the deadliest game of all, we need an army. And with the Hulkster recovering from an injury, it's up to us to recruit. And recruit I have. Miss Elizabeth!"</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Miss_Elizabeth_96.jpg" data-src="https://s27.postimg.org/6g1fc7phv/Miss_Elizabeth_96.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Elizabeth came out to applause and excitement, and she politely blushed as the crowd delivered an outpouring of love. Savage waved his hand to calm them down. "Now, we've had our ups and downs, Liz. It can be said that the Macho Man sometimes walks down a lonely road. But that's the Madness, for better or worse. But, right now, what I'm asking you is this. Will you stand by my side as we fight against the evil at the heart of the WCW? Will you help me fight the Giant - tonight - right here in this ring in the main event?"</p><p> </p><p> Elizabeth paused for a brief moment that felt like it strung out forever. Bischoff pointed out that Duggan had no pockets, to which Heenan replied, "Check under his belly fat, then."</p><p> </p><p> Rogers and Duggan immediately both got a little bit dirty in a brawl that felt out-of-hand from the get-go. Eyepokes, groin kicks, the entire dirty arsenal was on display as the ref seemed hopeless to control things. At about 8 minutes in, both men went over the top rope, and the fans seemed to roar in excitement. But, after a moment, it became clear that the fans weren't thrilled about the battle at ringside now, but a man in the audience crawling across the barricade with a steel chair in hand.</p><p> </p><p> "Oh, crap," Bischoff said, out of his normal slick TV voice. "Someone get an agent out here. Orndorff! Jody!"</p><p> </p><p> The show was out-of-hand. Behind Pillman, Heyman also jumped the barricade, and refs running out were stopped by Heyman, distracted. He tossed the chair back at security, knocking down a couple guards, as Heyman and Pillman beat feet back into the crowd. Near the top of the arena steps, Pillman delivered two middle fingers, and they both disappeared.</p><p> </p><p> At ringside, Bubba, completely out of character, assisted Duggan to his feet. Bischoff simply said, "Bobby, please." After a couple minutes, Bischoff was asked to leave by a page to deal with Duggan's injury backstage, and Heenan and Tenay uncomfortably called the next match themselves. Tenay highlighted Johnny B. Badd's boxing prowess, and pointed out that both of these champions put just as much heart into this exhibition match as their title defenses. About eight minutes into the match, Badd was holding the upper-hand, but Diamond Dallas Page and Diamond Doll visited ringside, and they completely threw Badd off of his game. Bagwell capitalized, rolling Badd up from behind and scoring a win over the new Television Champ at 8:33.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 54</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s29.postimg.org/ldtn6ixb7/Marc_Mero_2.jpg</span><span>http://s1.postimg.org/7rtpo9b3v/DDP.jpg</span><span>http://s24.postimg.org/a8fla4bvl/Kimberly_Page_4.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Bagwell celebrated as he left, but DDP and Badd argued in the middle of the ring. DDP motioned towards the TV title, and Badd yanked it away. Badd pointed his finger right at the bridge of DDP's nose and the two grew more and more heated until Diamond Doll picked up Badd's confetti cannon... and blasted it right in Badd's face! DDP grabbed the belt out of a stunned Badd's hands and cracked it on Badd's head as he stumbled around blindly. The Dungeon acolyte proved a tough match up for Hawk, but the opposite was also true. Both men ended up in a dead lock for quite some time, but when the Taskmaster, serving as Meng's manager, tried to trip up Hawk from the apron, Hawk no-sold it and flew into a rage, kicking the Taskmaster in the face. Meng went for a Golden Spike during the distraction, but Hawk denied it, delivering a belly-to-belly suplex on Meng himself, then rolling both himself and Meng over for a three-count.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 75</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s28.postimg.org/pjc016top/Hulk_Hogan.jpg</span><span>http://s1.postimg.org/6op3ihid7/Road_Warrior_Hawk.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Hulk Hogan, with a neckbrace, came out to celebrate with the lone Road Warrior in the ring. Savage was ready for the Giant. Everything the Giant threw at him seemed to serve as rubber. Savage kept bouncing back, but every time he looked a little more tired. Eventually he was winded and barely able to keep his footing. The Giant tried to crush Savage's head between his meaty hands, and it surely seemed to spell doom for Savage. But, hearing Elizabeth's encouragement at ringside, Savage found a second wind and pulled the Giant's mitts from his ears. He turned the momentum around. However, just when it seemed like Savage was going to pull out a win, the Giant spun Savage around at the ropes, and the Taskmaster threw salt right into Savage's eyes. Savage screamed as the Giant threw him across the ring and then chokeslammed him to the mat for a win in 13:33.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 82</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s10.postimg.org/9xmj9q7bp/Randy_Savage_2.jpg</span><span>http://s28.postimg.org/pjc016top/Hulk_Hogan.jpg</span><img alt="Miss_Elizabeth_96.jpg" data-src="https://s27.postimg.org/6g1fc7phv/Miss_Elizabeth_96.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>http://s17.postimg.org/tfzbhl7dn/The_Giant.jpg</span><span>http://s14.postimg.org/5yfms2n8t/Meng_5.jpg</span><span>http://s28.postimg.org/fl3kkma55/The_Shark.jpg</span><span>http://s8.postimg.org/ssfr1jegx/Zodiac.jpg</span><span>http://s21.postimg.org/8k8ti8qmr/Hugh_Morrus_2.jpg</span><span>http://s29.postimg.org/hrqya8hlv/Kevin_Sullivan.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> The rest of the Dungeon ran out to help put the boots to Savage. He started towards the ring, but felt the neckbrace on his neck. Liz warned him from going further, and he nodded, obviously thinking about how he could help. WCW Saturday Night</strong></p><p><strong>

2nd Saturday of September 1995</strong></p><p><strong>

Long Beach Arena - 2,369 fans</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Scotty Riggs vs. Stevie Ray</strong> - Riggs fought back valiantly, but some good cheating work by Booker and Sherri led to this match going quickly in favor of Stevie Ray, picking up a win for the Heat against the reigning tag champions in 7:22. <strong>Rating: 56</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Harlem Heat, along with Sherri, then cut a quick promo against the Males. They announced that they had just received a #1 Contenders match for the Tag Titles that would occur next week, and they would destroy anyone in their paths to the belts. "We comin' for you, crackas!" Booker warned the Males. <strong>Rating: 71</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mariko Yoshida vs. Bull Nakano</strong> - Schiavone highlighted the new, global domain of the WCW, truly putting the World back in World Championship Wrestling. Nakano demonstrated her ferocity as a competitor in this match, manhandling Yoshida before a pin at 6:44.<strong> Rating: 40</strong></p><p> </p><p>

In a taped video promo, the Taskmaster said that the fun and games were over now that the real games were on the way... WarGames. Zodiac, The Giant, Meng, The Shark, and Hugh Morrus all gave short statements as to why the Dungeon of Doom was ready to mop the floor with the Hulkamaniacs at Fall Brawl, with Hugh Morrus claiming he would get the last laugh. <strong>Rating: 67</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Kurasawa vs. The Giant</strong> - The opponent of Road Warrior Hawk in recent months, Kurasawa put up a strong offense and surprised the Giant at the outset of the match, but eventually, the Giant took control. Col. Parker took a beating from the Taskmaster at ringside, causing a weakened Kurasawa to lose focus, and a well-timed chokeslam put the Japanese star down for the count. <strong>Rating: 64</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Diamond Dallas Page and Diamond Doll talked about the #1 Contenders Match that was airing next, and Page said that the Television Title was as good as his. He predicted a long, happy reign for both Kimberly and himself. <strong>Rating: 70</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Television Title #1 Contender's Match: Eddie Guerrero vs. Diamond Dallas Page</strong> - In a fantastic back-and-forth, Guerrero, the young high-flier who had put on a great performance on Nitro, nearly had the upper-hand against DDP. Unfortunately, Diamond Doll was able to distract the ref while Guerrero had DDP pinned, and DDP broke the pin when the ref finally went for the count. A Diamond Cutter ended Guerrero's great performance with a tainted air of cheating at 12:44. <strong>Rating: 76</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Introduced as a star in Japan and a Hollywood celebrity, WCW welcomed Scott Norton to its roster, as he was accompanied by his valet, Dawn Marie. Dawn hammed up her seductive prowess as she slinked alongside Norton, who feigned signing autographs, taking almost 5 minutes to get to the ring. <strong>Rating: 62</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Frankie Lancaster vs. Scott Norton</strong> - One quick snap suplex ended Lancaster in just 0:18. Norton was here to make a statement. <strong>Rating: 45</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Jim Duggan was shown in a taped segment after Nitro, where he dodged discussing the Pillman situation, only commenting on his timetable for recovering. The doctors had told him it could be almost two months for a return, but Duggan never listened to the odds, and he planned to be back as soon as possible. <strong>Rating: 70</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Nasty Boys vs. The Blue Bloods</strong> - The Nastys were the chosen heroes in this match against the uppity Blue Bloods, but unfortunately, a little clever tagging caused Sags to pin an illegal man in Eaton, and Regal came in to roll up Sags for the win in 10:19. <strong>Rating: 72</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Roddy Piper appeared in a pre-taped Piper's Pit segment with Hulk Hogan where they slyly joked about their history together. Piper ribbed Hogan with, "You never DID beat me, Hulkster," while Hogan mentioned that Piper never did quite get that WWF Title. But both men were in agreement that the Dungeon of Doom had never seen a team-up quite like this. "Together, you and I built the wrestling industry, Piper." Piper smiled and responded, "And it ain't like me to too my own horn, but whatcha gonna do, Dungeon, when Hulkamania and the Rowdy Roddy Piper run wild on you?" <strong>Rating: 100</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lex Luger vs. Ric Flair</strong> - In a follow-up to the opening match of Monday Nitro, two of the tag competitors faced each other before Flair's US Title Match on Monday. Luger had the upper-hand until Flair tried to employ some cheating tactics, but this ended up backfiring when Arn Anderson's distraction inadvertantly led to him clocking Flair upside the head with the belt. Flair flopped, Luger went for the pin, and Luger grabbed the win at 13:23. <strong>Rating: 82</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Luger left in celebration. Flair and Arn argued in the ring as the show went off the air, Schiavone reminding fans that Flair's next match would be in just two days on Monday Nitro... for the US Title! <strong>Rating: 80</strong></p><p> </p><p>

WCW Main Event</strong></p><p><strong>

2nd Sunday of September, 1995</strong></p><p><strong>

Randy Savage and Elizabeth opened the show, discussing Savage's loss at the hands of the Giant. Savage said that if he had anything to say about it, he this wouldn't be the last the Giant saw of him - especially at WarGames! <strong>Rating: 84</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mister JL vs. Devon Storm</strong> - Two high-flying talents opened the in-ring action of the show. JL was obviously out to reverse his losing momentum after Monday, but Devon Storm didn't make it easy. Eventually JL was able to score a roll-up victory, however, in 5:35. <strong>Rating: 45</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Another Dean Malenko video package rolled, reminding viewers of his upcoming debut in less than two weeks. <strong>Rating: 38</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Julio Sanchez vs. Hugh Morrus</strong> - The newest acolyte in the Dungeon of Doom continued to demonstrate his formidable threat, taking down the rookie Sanchez in just 6:34. <strong>Rating: 49</strong></p><p> </p><p>

DDP and Diamond Doll were interviewed backstage after WCW Saturday Night in this pre-taped segment that aired next. Johnny B. Badd received a stern warning that DDP's #1 Contendership meant the end of Badd's Television Title reign before it had even gotten off of the ground. <strong>Rating: 64</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Maxx Muscle vs. Big Bubba Rogers</strong> - DDP's former bodyguard had struck out on his own in singles competition, but it was clear that he was really outclasses by Rogers. Still a valiant effort was put up, but alas it was to no avail. Bubba scored a victory in 7:03. <strong>Rating: 63</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, Bubba picked up a mic and started cutting a promo on an unnamed individual, saying that coming into his house and messing with his family wasn't going to be taken lightly. Mean Gene quickly put the kibosh to the promo before very much was said, however, and he smoothly transitioned to a commercial. <strong>Rating: 59</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Tag Titles Match: The American Males vs. Bunkhouse Buck & Dick Slater</strong> - Slater and Buck were owed a contractually-obligated rematch, but the American Males definitely had their number throughout this match. The Males retained their titles in just 8:44. <strong>Rating: 63</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Closing out the show was a video recorded after Monday Nitro six days ago. Hulk Hogan and Road Warrior Hawk were shown talking strategy with Roddy Piper, preparing for the upcoming Fall Brawl. When the camera tried to get in closer, however, Piper quickly detoured the cameraman away from the Hulkamaniacs. <strong>Rating: 88</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show Rating: 71</strong></p><p><strong>

TV Rating: 0.57</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I'm Eric Bischoff alongside Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and Mike Tenay. We've got an exciting show tonight, culminating in the match of the year - Sting vs. Ric Flair for the United States Title! But first, an interview with some of the Hulkamaniacs in preparation for their WarGames match. We also want to take the opportunity to apologize once more for the actions of a former employee of ours last week. This week, as you can see, there is security in and around the arena to prevent any further assaults on our in-ring talent. We at WCW are committed to creating a safe workspace for a variety of talent around the world to showcase their incredible wrestling abilities, and their safety is of paramount importance to us.</p><p> </p><p> "But let's turn our attention right now to the Hulkamaniacs!"</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://s2.postimg.org/cwgee2ldh/Roddy_Piper_6.jpg</span><span>http://s10.postimg.org/9xmj9q7bp/Randy_Savage_2.jpg</span><img alt="Miss_Elizabeth_96.jpg" data-src="https://s27.postimg.org/6g1fc7phv/Miss_Elizabeth_96.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>http://s1.postimg.org/6op3ihid7/Road_Warrior_Hawk.jpg</span><span>http://s23.postimg.org/g6ci42bvb/Gene_Okerlund.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> Roddy Piper, Randy Savage and Road Warrior Hawk were escorted to the ring by Miss Elizabeth, to the adulation of the crowd. The quartet spoke on the events of the week before, with Savage livid at the outcome of his match.</p><p> </p><p> "There's a road you go down, yeah. There's a road you go down, Sullivan, and it's a dangerous road. Tangling with the Hulkster, well, that's dangerous by itself. But now you've gone and ticked off the Madness. And even the Macho Man can't control the Madness when it gets piqued. So you better prepare yourself for what's to come."</p><p> </p><p> Piper: "You know, I've seen a lot of angry, livid, furious unstable psychopaths in my time." (Savage give Piper a bemused look) "No, I don't mean you, Randy. Although if you have to ask... No, no, no. I mean this so-called Dungeon of Doom. First of all, a Dungeon? Really? Is this because you've run out of good names for collectives? Far be it for me to be critical of your name there, Sullivan, but Dungeon offers connotations that are... shall we say... explicit in nature. So a bunch of sexual deviants versus four of the greatest talents in the wrestling world? I like those odds."</p><p> </p><p> Gene followed up. "This WarGames match is scheduled to be a little more unique than normal. Not only are you confined to cages, it will be a 5 on 5 elimination match, correct?"</p><p> </p><p> "That's right, Gene-o. And we've also got Sting ready in the wings as the fifth man. That's 5 stars of epic proportions! More than the Beatles! However, Rogers, being a dirty player, was ready for every stunt Slater tried, and when Slater went for Brass Knuckles, Rogers grabbed them out of his hand and smashed them across Slater's face, falling on him for a win - and cheers! - at 7:33. </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating: 75</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/uj3qoj30b/WCW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://s23.postimg.org/nzuthjzp3/Jim_Duggan_1.jpg</span><span>http://s3.postimg.org/cjj5785bz/Big_Bossman.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Jim Duggan came out on crutches, and he stood with Bubba at the top of the ramp. Ric was able to keep the tide in his favor for a little while before Sting turned it back by breaking out of a Figure Four. Naitch kept finding flashes of momentum but Sting kept crushing them, always with a gorilla press slam. WCW Saturday Night Episode 3</strong></p><p><strong>

3rd Saturday of September, 1995</strong></p><p><strong>

Rupp Arena, South East - 3,902 fans</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><span>http://s9.postimg.org/rkdu4gcjf/Tony_Schiavone_3.jpg</span><span>http://s13.postimg.org/u7fwm9i8z/Mike_Tenay.jpg</span><span>http://s11.postimg.org/4sl07bk2n/Dusty_Rhodes.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Lex Luger vs. Maxx Muscle</strong> - The former bodyguard of Diamond Dallas Page found himself on a losing streak after taking a second straight loss, this time to the Total Package. Lex lifted Maxx like a sack of potatoes and stretched him out in the Torture rack after just 7 minutes. Quite an impressive showing it was for Lex, who had certainly looked quite formidable since his debut just 3 weeks before. <strong>Rating: 74</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, Lex celebrated his victory only for cheesy disco music to hit. "Who the hell is this guy?" asked an incredulous Tony Schiavone. Out strutted the garishly dressed Disco Inferno, who claimed that everyone in WCW - and even the WCW fans - were square and behind the times. He got into the ring, challenging Lex to a match. At first Lex crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, but Inferno kept prodding him until Lex finally agreed. <strong>Rating: 74</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lex Luger vs. Disco Inferno</strong> - Scoop. Torture Rack. Tapout. <strong>Rating: 57</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After a commercial, Ric Flair cut a scathing promo about the non-result of his United States Title match. He told Sting that he'd already spoken to the booking committee of WCW, and at Fall Brawl, there would be no interference, no cheating of any kind. It was going to be just Sting and Flair... in the cage. WarGames would have nothing on this. The end of the greatest rivalry of a generation! Woo! <strong>Rating: 85</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit</strong> - Another new talent, Benoit was known for a flying headbutt, but he'd since changed his entire style to a safer, ground-based arsenal, focused on holds and takedown offense. Eddie was able to adapt, however, and over the course of 12 minutes, he eventually found a way to reverse a Crossface into a quick roll-up for the win. <strong>Rating: 76</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Booker T and Stevie Ray were interviewed backstage by new interviewer Terri, where they railed against the American Males, declaring that at Fall Brawl, the titles were as good as theirs. A minute into the interview, Sherri ran up, a little late. She was taken aback at the appearance of this "hussy interviewer" and escorted her men away from Terri, who seemed quite confused at the whole situation. <strong>Rating: 68</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mariko Yoshida vs. Akira Hokuto</strong> - WCW, home of the greatest talent in women's wrestling! Hokuto's frightful mask and appearance betrayed the monstrous offense beneath, and poor Mariko seemed to stand no chance against her in this short but fever-pitched match. Eventually Hokuto crushed her opponent in 4:52. <strong>Rating: 31</strong></p><p> </p><p>

DDP and Diamond Doll were about to be interviewed by Mean Gene about Johnny B. Badd, but DDP had had enough of microphones and cameras in his face. He told Gene to "shove off" and that he wasn't interested in "the WCW publicity mill" tonight. He and Kimberly were off to a concert since no one had bothered to schedule the biggest name in the business to a match. <strong>Rating: 70</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Randy Savage vs. Zodiac</strong> - Savage was out for blood from the Dungeon given what had happened on Nitro two weeks before. Zodiac was all NO's and no YES's in this match, as Savage threw him about the ring like a ragdoll. Eventually Zodiac decided he'd had enough and he simply rolled out of the ring, with Savage standing in the center in disbelief. He got the win by count out at 9:22 though, proving just how cowardly the Dungeon really were at heart. <strong>Rating: 82</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The rest of the Hulkamaniacs came out and celebrated with Savage as they were interviewed by Mean Gene. Hogan pointed out that with the match scheduled with Sting in a cage, the team would need a new 5th man. Vader was still MIA, and they weren't sure who they would go to for aid. Piper was confident though, and Hawk was ready to dance with the Dungeon. With Hogan back in robust health, it seemed like the fifth man would almost be overkill. <strong>Rating: 88</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bunkhouse Buck vs. The Taskmaster </strong> - The Taskmaster wasn't scheduled to be in the Dungeon's Fall Brawl match, but he would be at ringside throughout it, which meant, given Sullivan's proclivities for foul play, that this match might be a preview of things to come. Buck tried to squirrel his way to a victory, but it was to no avail, and the Taskmaster put him down in 8:33. <strong>Rating: 74</strong></p><p> </p><p>

A video package aired featuring Dean Malenko, reminding fans that the Iceman was debuting in just two days! <strong>Rating: 42 </strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Dave Sullivan vs. Scott Norton</strong> - Norton came out to his lavish introduction with Dawn Marie in tow. The Hollywood Superstar made short work of Sullivan, crushing him with a vicious suplex in just 1:44. <strong>Rating: 49</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, Norton left up the ramp, and as he went behind the curtain, he bumped into the Renegade. Both men refused to step aside for the other, and it was clear that at some point, we would be seeing them in the ring against one another. <strong>Rating: 64</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Steiner Brothers vs. The Blue Bloods</strong> - The Steiners first match with a legitimate opponent since their return saw a pitched, 18 minute battle between two fantastic technical teams. Regal was the real gem of this match, putting the brakes on both Rick and Scott at various points in the match. Eaton struggled to keep up, however, and Regal was obviously only able to be the sole man in the match for so long against two behemoths with the skill level to back up their physical stature. Ultimately, Eaton ended up eating a Frankensteiner at 19:33. <strong>Rating: 83</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Steiners closed out the show after their win, celebrating, high fiving kids, and generally being great fan favorites. They also warned the Harlem Heat that their bullying tactics had not gone unnoticed, and that after Fall Brawl, the Heat might not like the heat that's coming/ <strong>Rating: 81</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Alex Wright vs. Devon Storm</strong> - The young German talent continued his winning streak, pinning Storm with the Air Berlin in just 6:03. Wright's popularity seemed to be on the rise; the fans had really taken to him during this match, and the Genius pointed out that Wright was a guy to watch in this newly-forming Cruiserweight Division. <strong>Rating: 53</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Eddie Guerrero was shown in a segment filmed at WCW Saturday Night. He was there to inform the crowd that a major announcement regarding WCW cruiserweights would be revealed at Monday Nitro this week. He thanked fans for their immediate write-in and call-in campaign, pointing out that it is the passion for the sport that made WCW what it was today. Growing up in a barrio neighborhood, he said he never expected a life full of the happiness he'd found in the wrestling business. <strong>Rating: 72</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Renegade vs. Rip Rogers</strong> - The Renegade demonstrated snapped a two-loss streak by pounding veteran Rip Rogers into the ground. The commentary team pointed out that Scott Norton would be smart not to get in the Renegade's way again if this was the outcome he could expect. Rogers was pinned with a body slam at 7:33. <strong>Rating: 56</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, the Taskmaster came out, shouting at the Renegade before yanking him out of the ring. Refs held the Renegade back as the Taskmaster shouted on the mic, railing against Hulk Hogan's Hulkamaniacs. He was fuming about Hogan's return to active competition, and warned Hogan that he may have gotten the drop on the Taskmaster once, but it wouldn't happen again. <strong>Rating: 78</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Julio Sanchez vs. The Taskmaster</strong> - The Taskmaster destroyed the young Puerto Rican star in this match, using a thumb to the eye early in the match to seize control. Ultimately, Sanchez was pinned in 3 minutes. <strong>Rating: 66</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Taskmaster put away his opponent and then continued his rant against Hogan. The fans booed loudly for all three of these successive segments, each louder than the one before. The Taskmaster had them eating out of the palm of his hand, and he knew it. He demanded their negativity, claiming he would soak it in. It empowered him. "Your hatred just fuels mine!" <strong>Rating: 92</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Nasty Boys vs. The Barrio Brothers</strong> - The Nastys had been dealing with up-and-down momentum, but this squash match aimed to completely reverse their fortunes. Fidel Sierra ended up taking the unfortunate trip to Nastytown, USA, and was pinned by Brian Knobbs in 5:33. <strong>Rating: 65</strong></p><p> </p><p>

In a pre-taped interview with Mean Gene, Randy Savage (accompanied by Elizabeth) discussed the return of Hogan, and their long, tumultuous friendship. Savage, when questioned about his aspirations post-Fall Brawl, claimed that the World Title was definitely his highest priority. "Friends or not, the Macho Man and the Hulkster always are doomed to do the same dance." <strong>Rating: 82</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Cobra vs. Diamond Dallas Page</strong> - A tune-up match heading into Fall Brawl, DDP utterly devastated Cobra with his patented Diamond Cutter, landing it after Kimberly provided a distraction, luring Cobra away from the match. DDP stood victorious in 7:12. <strong>Rating: 71</strong></p><p> </p><p>

As he celebrated, Johnny B. Badd ran out, anxious to seek a little revenge for his DDP-inflicted loss. The two duked it out in the ring for a minute before DDP rolled out, refusing to tangle with the angry Badd. He and Doll scampered up the ramp in anger as Johnny B. Badd celebrated with the crowd to end the show. <strong>Rating: 84</strong></p><p> </p><p>

WCW Monday Nitro Episode 4

4th Week of September, 1995

Before the show, The Blue Bloods defeated The Lightning Express. Disco Inferno came out and annoyed the fans until Sting came down to try and reason with him. Inferno challenged Sting to a match, which Sting handily won in 3 minutes.

"Hello and welcome to MON-day NI-tro! I'm Eric Bischoff alongside Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and Mike Tenay. We're coming down to the wire; Fall Brawl is Sunday! In fact, let's run down -"

http://s29.postimg.org/hrqya8hlv/Kevin_Sullivan.jpghttp://s17.postimg.org/tfzbhl7dn/The_Giant.jpg

"HOGAAAAAAAAN!" shouted the Taskmaster, making his way to the announcing booth with his Giant in tow. "HOGAN! Are you prepared for Sunday? My Giant will pick you apart. I believe that the time has come for the Dungeon to doom the world. Your Hulkamaniacs, they're pawns. And Sunday they will fall; you don't even have your fifth man! At Fall Brawl, we will be utterly prepared for your demise. My Dungeon has so many secrets, so many plans for you and yours. Kiss your children goodbye, Hulkster..."

The Taskmaster walked away, but not before the Giant grabbed the mic. "Hogan! You don't know pain! But you will... WARGAMES!"

Eddie Guerrero vs. Sabu

http://s29.postimg.org/n6tijjzlv/Eddie_Guerrero_98.jpgvs.http://s24.postimg.org/49lafj9a9/Sabu_2.jpg

Who was Sabu? He appeared to be an utter maniac. As Eddie got control of the match, he rolled out of the ring and searched under the apron for chairs and tables. Guerrero kept trying to keep the match in the ring, but Sabu was only interested in fighting outside. Eventually, Eddie Frog Splashed Sabu through a table, then rolled him into the ring to claim a pin in 7:33.

Guerrero grabbed the mic after the match, eager to make his previously advertised special announcement. He was joined by The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, who spoke first.

"When the fans talk, WCW listens. You've been thrilled with the exciting cruiserweight action, and you want more. And the American Dream has always been about picking yo'self up by the bootstraps and achieving your dreams. Eddie, you and the rest of these cruiserweights have demonstrated resilience, courage and a fast-paced style of wrestling unseen anywhere else in the world."

Dusty reached out to shake Eddie's hand. "Thanks, Dusty. I was just a kid in a dead end neighborhood ten years ago. Sometimes I didn't even know where my dinner was coming from. And I want every kid out there, on a nowhere street, in a tough neighborhood, to know that this is where you can get!"

Dusty stopped Eddie. "We're not quite done, Eddie. You've got a division, but what good is a division... without a title?"

Dusty unveiled the new WCW Cruiserweight Title. "Eddie, this Sunday at Fall Brawl you will fight for the Cruiserweight Title against one of the greatest cruiserweights in history. A man who put on phenomenal matches with some of WCW's best. Jushin... THUNDER... Liger!

Lex Luger vs. The Giant

http://s21.postimg.org/e5lwvzdkz/Lex_Luger.jpgvs.http://s17.postimg.org/tfzbhl7dn/The_Giant.jpg

The Giant was back out, ready to take on the Total Package. Lex, on the other hand, wasn't taking this match too seriously, and it showed. He obviously hadn't been spending much attention on the Dungeon of Doom, but he could hardly be blamed. After all, the situation with Sting and Ric Flair had absorbed most of his attention. The Giant tried to chokeslam Lex, and Lex broke his grip, suddenly realizing that this was more than a joke. He even rolled out of the ring, talking to a fan at ringside. "Is this guy for real?" he said, to the fan's amusement. Turns out, however, that this guy was for real. How real? To the tune of actually slamming Luger to the mat real. Luger really seemed stunned by all of this; however, he kicked out of a pin attempt and then went to lift the Giant. However, he couldn't seem to get him off the ground after several attempts. Instead, he went for a clothesline over the top rope, and both men spilled out of the ring. They duked it out at ringside until the ref called off the match with a double DQ at 7:44.

The battle continued on until Sting - along with the former Mega Powers - came out to chase the Giant off. He begged off but seemed ready for a fight until the Taskmaster came out and escorted him away from the top of the ramp. "I'LL GET YOU, LUGER!" were the Giant's last words before he disappeared behind the curtain.

The Taskmaster remained at the top of the ramp. "HOGAN! I heard your slated for a match tonight. Main event, but no opponent. Let me offer you a wager."

Hogan grabbed a mic. "Why would I listen to you, Taskmaster?"

"Because what I got is of interest." Taskmaster paced slowly at the endge of the ramp. "Tonight, face one of my monsters... you know him. Kamala. You beat him, he's out of the Dungeon. For good. You won't have to face him at WarGames. Instead, my newest acolyte, Hugh Morrus, will be in the match. You lose, however... you only get four men against my five. How does that sound?"

Savage nodded towards Hogan. "You got it, Taskmaster!" Hogan shouted.

Taskmaster laughed. "Very well then." He disappeared behind the curtain.

Hogan and Sting and Savage stood together in the ring with Luger. "Look, brothers, I'm not gonna lie, we need a better battle plan."

Sting nodded. "You need a fifth man. And if I have to, I'll take on the Nature Boy and the Dungeon in the same night."

"Hold the phone, Stinger," Hogan replied. "You're one of the greatest in the world, but Ric Flair ain't no pushover. You won't be fresh for the Dungeon... and in WarGames, it's a battle of endurance."

Savage agreed. "Even the Macho Man would never try to take on two cage matches in the same night."

Sting was frustrated. "What am I supposed to do? Let the Dungeon walk all over you? Leave you a man down?"

Savage interrupted. "Down, but not out. I'm thinkin' we got ourselves a fifth man already."

Hogan nodded knowingly. "You're thinking what I'm thinking, aren't you, Macho?"

Savage pointed at Luger. "Seems to me there's a Total Package ready to be deployed against the Dungeon. How'd you like to get a little revenge on the Giant, Lex?"

Hogan wasn't sold. "Now listen, brother. Lex may be the told package... but how do we know we can trust this guy? I've never worked with you in my life. And I know that in wrestling, trust is hard to come by."

Luger picked up a mic. "You don't know me personally, but you know what I stand for. I stand for the same things you stand for. We've fought the same guys, we've beaten the same guys... now it's time to fight side-by-side. What do you say, Hulkster?"

Hogan milked the crowd, pretending to think then stuck out his hand. "I think we've got our fifth man."

"Now you just have to beat Kamala," Savage reminded Hogan.

If there return matches so far didn't prove that the Steiners were back, this one sure did. The Nastys had been a strong, veteran team for quite some time. No longer. They were utterly decimated by the Steiners, meticulously taken apart in a match lasting 8:34 that once again ended with a Frankensteiner. Rick and Scott were here to send a message to the team that won the Tag Titles at Fall Brawl - there was competition on the way.

Another match of nonstop high-flying action, Tenay touted the skills of the newcomer Chris Benoit who had already demonstrated great skill in his debut match. This match further cemented his prowess, as he continued his amazing ground-based offense. With a variety of holds he ended up putting away Mister JL. Until that point, however, JL flipped around the ring with surprising speed, dazzling the announcers. Still, it was Benoit who got the Canadian Crossface at 6:04. Heenan remarked that Benoit was likely going to be a monster in this new division.

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen! It's 8 o'clock Eastern and that means it's time for Brian Pillman to take over your TV sets. The WCW would have you believe that a match between ten elderly out-of-shape idiots is the highlight of your month. It's actually 5 huge egos and 5 units of cannon fodder to satiate the Hulkster's arrogance. Nearly as large as his damn paycheck. You know, if you freaking marks at home didn't tune in and assure Terry Boy of his salary every week, you might see some new talent on your screen. But until that point, Hogan and his marry band of geriatrics will parade around, pissing all over the industry with their glacial pace and archaic promos.

"Do you know who I am? I'm Brian Effing Pillman. I'm the savior of wrestling. And right here, this is the man who will see my rise come to fruition. Right, Paul?"

"Brian, since Hulk Hogan came to the WCW, I've watched talent after talent after talent get marched out the door. Great talents. Hungry talents. Talents that scared Hulk Hogan. And you know what I'm doing? I'm putting in calls to all of them. I'm reminding all of them why they left. And they're coming back. We're all coming back.

Be ready, Hogan. This is extreme warfare now."

Alex Wright vs. Diamond Dallas Page

This was supposed to be another tune-up match for DDP, but what ended up happening was quite a surprise. Wright nearly took over the match. In fact, he landed a Berlin Air and would have gotten the pin at 11:02 if not for Kimberly's ref distraction. That's right. You read that correctly. Page couldn't take Wright down for eleven minutes. This young rookie proved quickly that the cruiserweights not only were a hot commodity, but a threat in every division. Of course, the distraction was effective and Page kicked out before the ref noticed the pin. A quick Diamond Cutter and it was over with a BANG at 11:32.

DDP celebrated to boos, but this turned into cheers when Johnny B. Badd ran down to the ring, fighting with the ref about Wright's unfair loss. DDP, fuming that Badd had stepped on his celebration, laid out Badd with a Diamond Cutter before storming out the ramp with Diamond Doll to even more boos than before.

Bob Starr vs. Dean Malenko

Bobby_Starr.jpgvs.http://s7.postimg.org/c7h9vreiv/Dean_Malenko.jpg

The final member of the group of fresh cruiserweights had his shot on the show as well, taking on the diminutive Starr in an extremely short match. Once Malenko locked a his hold onto Starr, Starr screamed in utter agony, tapping out after 1:32. Starr gasped in pain after the match as Malenko immediately rolled out of the ring and marched his way up the ramp, never acknowledging the fans, his opponent or even that he had a match. "Truly an Iceman, Bobby," Bischoff remarked.

"Stone cold," Heenan replied. "I like that kind of attitude."

http://s11.postimg.org/9dcp2hqyn/Ric_Flair_7.jpghttp://s18.postimg.org/a8zmi3wj9/Sting.jpg

A video package aired after this, recounting the storied careers of Sting and Ric Flair, notably the rivalry between the two. Interspersed between clips were interview extracts. Flair said that this was the final match between the two. "It's about legacy. Who will be remembered as the true spirit of WCW? I think it's only natural to ensure Flair and WCW are always mentioned in the same breath."

Sting's attitude was similar. "The WCW has been my home. I would shudder to think of being the second-best thing WCW has to offer behind a cheating, manipulative, lying, morally bereft wrestler who lauds the dubious distinction of being the 'dirtiest player in the game.'"

Big Bubba Rogers vs. Arn Anderson

http://s3.postimg.org/cjj5785bz/Big_Bossman.jpgvs.http://s13.postimg.org/s762vfe6r/Arn_Anderson_4.jpg

Bubba as of yet didn't know his opponent for the #1 Contenders Match at Fall Brawl, but both he and his temporary manager were focused on the major roadblock tonight - both Arn and Bubba had been known as enforcers in earlier years, and those reputations had been built on brutal, hard-hitting offenses. Neither man gave an inch throughout the match, but Bubba seemed to be making a slow build in momentum. In fact, Arn rolled out of the ring to consult with his ringside "manager" for the match, Ric Flair himself. Flair and Anderson whispered for a few moments, perhaps planning Arn's next sequence of attack, before Arn rolled back in. Within minutes, Arn had Bubba facing Flair after throwing him into Arn's corner, where Flair carefully threw a mysterious powder into Bubba's face. Blinded, Bubba stumbled backwards, and Arn tripped him, going for a pin. Duggan climbed up on the ropes to yell at the ref, but the ref instead ejected Duggan from ringside for interfering. Bubba tried to lunge at Arn and missed, but Arn capitalized, grabbing Bubba and putting him to the mat with a Spinebuster, grabbing a win at 10:12.

Ric and Arn celebrated as Ric grabbed the mic. "Seems to me, the Enforcer here just beat a man slated for a #1 Contendership match for the US Title."

Arn grabbed the mic. "I just beat a top guy without a stipulation. So let's add one. You want that #1 Contendership, Bubba? How about you go through ME at Fall Brawl!"

Arn dropped the mic, walking away. Flair WOOed for a few moments before strutting up the ramp after his best friend.

Hulk Hogan vs. Kamala

http://s28.postimg.org/pjc016top/Hulk_Hogan.jpgvs.http://s16.postimg.org/9slzx8hf5/Kamala_1.jpg

Despite the slow pace of Kamala, the crowd was excited to see how this match would affect the main event of Fall Brawl. Kamala was tough to get off of his feet, of course, and Hogan repeatedly found his attacks rebuffed. However, Kamala eventually found himself on his back, and his large girth made it difficult to roll over, and he suffered a pinfall loss at 9:03.

Hogan celebrated as the rest of his WarGames team came piling out of the back. They cheered with the crowd until the Taskmaster emerged. "Don't be so quick to celebrate, Hogan."

Hogan blew him off and kept celebrating, but Piper calmed Hogan down. "Listen, I'm not trying to put a damper on the parade here, but there's gotta be something to this buffoon."

Hogan turned to face Sullivan. "Give me one good reason why I should be worried, Taskmaster."

Taskmaster smiled. "I'll give you five."

The Dungeon poured out of the back, making a beeline to the ring. The two teams stared each other down as the Taskmaster cackled on the mic, ending the show.

<p>Hulkamaniacs - <em>Because duh. No way the Dungeon of Dummies takes down this team.</em></p><p>

Sting - <em>Sting won't be dropping the title to Flair, but I can see him losing it to Arn.</em></p><p>

DDP - <em>Just too much hot streak momentum right now to ignore, put a title on this guy.</em></p><p>

Arn Anderson - <em>The stuff with Bubba and Pillman has been fun, but he isn't going into title contention because of it. Anderson picks up the win.</em></p><p>

Harlem Heat - <em>Ugh-merican Males.</em></p><p>

Eddie Guerrero - <em>Liger is likely only on a quickie deal, so Eddie grabs the win and the title.</em></p><p>

Scott Norton - <em>Rent-a-gade goes down hard.</em></p><p>

Steiner Brothers - <em>The Blue Bloods, though very fun, are not in this league, unfortunately.</em></p><p>

Dean Malenko - <em>I love me some Ultimo, but Dean is the one getting active TV time.</em></p><p> </p><p>

24:38 for the main event.</p>
