<p>That was a great show and certainly worth the wait.....I was surprised to see Nash take the loss, although the fact that he’s all alone with “no friends left” could certainly set the stage for the return of one Scott Hall to help his buddy out. I was pleased to see Kanyon join up with Vampiro too.....Kanyon is a great worker, but never the best talker.....for me he works best in a stable (much like he was utilised during the Jersey Triad) and he and Vampiro are a great fit.....it’s a shame you couldn’t get Raven too....a revamped (no pun intended) Dark Carnaval with that trio could be great, especially with Daffney on the outside.....speaking of great fits, Gene and Jeremy....thumbs up on that one, it would have played out brilliantly on screen too, the bumbling old pro basically being looked after by his so called protege. </p><p> </p><p>

I’m guessing Scotty’s Next challenge is going to come from Big Sid.....but the Big Bad Booty Daddy can’t be happy about eating another loss from Da Man.....he’s surely going to want a rematch down the line, but with no title on the line then where’s the motivation for Goldie? That’s why I still see Steiner offering up a shot for one more match with Goldberg.</p>

<p>Proud Achievements</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">From the desk of Eric Bischoff:</span></span></p><p> The first episode of Friday Nitro and WCW Pride are both in the books this week, and as I sit back with a nice cold beer, I reflect on the week that we’ve had and the work it took to get here. Sure, we still aren’t in a great place financially, but to look at the sheer facts, Pride pulled in over $750,000 on pay-per-view revenue! We may not be rolling in it, but we may indeed break even by the end of the year if this keeps up… as long as the banks stay off our case until then.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage at Friday Nitro was a pretty fun atmosphere, as newcomer David Cash a.k.a. Kid Kash ran a poker tournament for the guys on his first night as a true WCW employee. Unfortunately, I went a little too far by pulling a rib on Ron Harris. The rest of the locker room thought it was really funny that I left a Chia Pet in his locker to make light of his baldness, but both he and Don were very hot about it. I apologized, but it looks like Ron’s sour mood is just going to be something that sticks with him.</p><p> </p><p> Fortunately, Pride turned out better for me. I spoke with Arn Anderson before the show started, and low and behold, I finally turned the tension between he and Kevin Nash away! The two had some tension ever since 1997 and the nWo’s Horsemen parody, but time heals all wounds and “Double A” seems to finally be putting it behind him. Speaking of Nash, he wasn’t too thrilled that I was having him drop the bout to Lex at Pride, but relented when I told him he was being protected by the Bagwell interference. This is a nice feud to keep the three of them busy, and it seems to have a lot of people salivating for Scott Hall’s return to WCW. I know I promised Kevin that I would try and bring Scott back when his New Japan deal is up, but I’m open to a few ways this could go.</p><p> </p><p> During his pre-show match with the Harris Boys, Sean O’Haire strained a bicep. It was nothing major, and he’ll be back in shape and ready to go by Friday. Speaking of the pre-show, this was one of the reasons I started the WCW Panel. I think a solid hype show will do us some wonders, especially if it’s live coverage that includes some matches as well, for free! And it keeps Tony from being upset that I took him off of commentary, which is just a good bonus.</p><p> </p><p> Did I say bonus? Well, AJ Styles certainly did. He was making $1,500 a month, a fairly standard development deal level contract. But his popularity has shot up well in the times we’ve used him, and now that he’s become a full time member of the WCW roster, he asked for a raise of $1,420. I wasn’t too sure about it, but in the end I gave him all of it; he’s young and a little green yet, but he has some really strong potential, and I see building his trust at this stage as something that can only help in the future.</p><p> </p><p> Scott Steiner was heard spouting off during the video for Low-Ki during the show, saying that he doesn’t think he’s worth keeping around. “You can throw all the kicks ya want, but he ain’t shown us a single damn suplex! He can’t work no crowd without that!” I had considered having him stop by NWA: Wildside for a few months, but I let him pass over development simply because I want some young talent to come up to the main roster. I guess time will only tell if I’m right or if Scott is.</p><p> </p><p> Terry Taylor has left World Championship Wrestling, as his contract expired. Terry was with our company for a long time, and I may bring him back once we are a little more financially stable.</p><p> </p><p> We saw some great in-ring chemistry pop up between Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Kid Kash, of all people. That’s good, because I plan to give the two of them a short program against one another. Fans seemed pretty surprised to see Chavo pick up the win over the new guy, but the way I saw it, not every debut can get an initial win. Kash may be a strong personality and someone I want to keep around, but I’ve heard that he isn’t the greatest person backstage if he gets a wild hair up his ass. So we will see how he goes. But the disappointment – one that I knew was coming – was that Lance Storm and Booker T just don’t click together in the ring. They put on a solid match both times they’ve been one on one, but that is just due to the sheer nature of how good they are in the ring, not due to them working well with one another.</p><p> </p><p> Booker and Storm were both complimented on a good performance in the Pride match, people were definitely on the edge of their seat for that one. We made the decision to use this to write off Lance’s “Canadian” gimmick once and for all, because at a certain level I feel it is holding him back. We don’t plan to make him into a goofy, grinning dancer or anything stupid like that, but I want to use this to give him a little harder edge. Goldberg also was praised for how well he did in the main event against Scott, and the three of them all seemed pleased with being positively called out. I think people are starting to enjoy my little post-show speeches, especially when they don’t involve ripping out Ric Flair.</p><p> </p><p> I see a flashing light on my answering machine, and I know who it is before I even hit the button.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#008000;">“Eric, it’s Shane! You remember me, don’t you; my dad almost bought the company you’re running? Ha ha… look, I know you think you’re doing okay for yourself now that you’re set up on pay-per-view, but how long do you think that’ll last? You can’t keep avoiding me forever. You gotta give me an answer, yes or no. I know you could use the money, and I can bring it to you. Just call me.”</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Sigh. I have been avoiding him. But I need to make a decision on this. Do I accept the help of a McMahon, even if it is Shane? I mean, it worked out for Heyman to work with Vince for all those years, and Shane doesn’t seem nearly as megalomaniacal.</p><p> </p><p> Just then, a soft knock comes to the door. That’s strange, I could have sworn everyone had left the Reno Events Center already. I stand up and walk over to open the door, when I get a surprise visitor.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#F4A460;">“Hey, um, boss… I have a proposition for you. Let’s just say that if you accept it, all of WCW’s money problems will be over.”</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="OOC" data-cite="OOC" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Has a new player entered the fray?! I didn’t expect some of those answers I got, but I suppose I left it open when I said “hasn’t been seen in WCW in some time,” as Stacy hadn’t been on-screen at this point since about November 2000. That was when the David Flair pregnancy angle was written off. In real life, she would return in late February or early March paired with Shawn Stasiak, but I didn’t run with that, so as of this point she is still between storylines.</p><p> </p><p> to4sty: Yeah, I’m really enjoying Gene and Jeremy, I just find it amusing that they have good managerial chemistry! I do make sure to use JB in the angles sometimes so that it helps pump up his overness and skills, but sometimes I just let it play out, as I did with Goldberg. I am really enjoying the plans I have set up for Vampiro, as his “Dark Eden” comes together in the next few months, and I hope everyone else will enjoy it as well.</p><p> </p><p> Tomorrow I will be posting the WWF results from the week, so keep an eye out for those!</p></div></blockquote>

<p>Finally had a chance to read Pride and I have to say you did a great job with it. The current storyline with Nash and Totally Buff is intriguing to say the least and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I also really liked the way you wrote the main event, felt very fitting for a clash between those two.</p><p> </p><p>

Keep up the great work man!</p>

WCW Friday Nitro: 4/27/2001

Wow, has it really been almost two months? I feel horrible guys, because while I've been trying to book ahead, time has just slipped on and on without an update. Sorry!

Last Week in WCW: “Last Sunday night, Scott Steiner became a victim of his own Pride as he was soundly and cleanly defeated by Goldberg in a non-title Indian Strap match! Sting was assaulted by a vicious Animal, Vampiro and Kanyon welcomed everyone to join their Dark Eden, and Rey Mysterio Jr. retained his WCW X Division championship! What will we see next in WCW as Envy looms around every corner?”

Despite coming up on the losing end of his match at Pride, “Big Poppa Pump” opens Friday Nitro. He is quick to point out that last night didn’t matter because he’s still the champ and still the reason for why all these people pay to see WCW! He tells Flair that he knows he’s just trying to keep people buying the show now that we’re too broke a company to be on cable every week, but to put him in a title match right here tonight is bullshit! No censors for the American and Mexican audiences now that we’re on pay-per-view! But instead of Ric Flair, Scott is joined by Sid Vicious with his own microphone. Sid isn’t afraid, coming right into Steiner’s face and telling him that if he didn’t know any better, he’d say that Scott is scared of facing “The Man Who Rules the World” tonight! Vicious accuses Scott of trying to weasel out of Sid’s guaranteed title match, a one on one match that he hasn’t had since Starrcade last December. Sid actually really seems to be enjoying being off-script in this segment. Ric Flair finally joins us at the top of the ramp and says that if Scott can admit that he’s afraid of Sid and just upset at losing to Goldberg, then he’ll postpone the match, but Steiner’s pride is too much for that, screaming that he’ll beat Sid like only “The Genetic Freak” can! The crowd are hot for our main event, this got the show off to a great start despite some weak color commentary. (A+)

<hr><details><summary>Kaz Hayashi vs. “The Prodigal Son” Dustin Rhodes</summary>

In a quick match designed just to give Dustin a nice win, he picks up the victory with a running bulldog.

Dustin takes a microphone after the bout and says that after Pride and now this win, he is looking to rise up the ranks of WCW quickly. Rhodes says it is his dream to become World champion just like his father before him, and one day soon he wants to be facing off against Scott Steiner for the gold! This comment however draws out the Steiner Brothers, with Scott actively laughing off Dustin’s potential challenge. He tells him “Beating some fat jobber or some flippy, filthy, slanty japper ain’t nothing compared to the man with the largest arms in the world!” Tenay apologies to our Japanese audience, saying that the views and words of Scott Steiner are not endorsed or condoned by WCW. Scott says that if Dustin wants to fight a Steiner, then he can see how he holds up to “The Dog-Faced Gremlin” as Rick heads down to the ring. With Scott yelling “Get him, Ricky!” the two being brawling, until Doug Dillenger and WCW Crack Security break things up.

Match Time: 3:06

Notes: Tenay’s announcing lifted the match. In the aftermath segment, Scott looked good despite struggling with a few words.

“Mean” Gene and Jeremy are backstage, with Okerlund saying that while Borash isn’t hip enough to understand their cool slogans, they are with the Filthy Animals. “Rap with me, Konnan,” says Gene, which draws a laugh behind his back from Jeremy and Rey. Kidman isn’t in a very good mood, saying that Konnan and Rey nearly left him for dead last night. They apologize, saying they were getting the party ready when Billy’s match was happening, but that isn’t the answer either as Kidman sees it as they weren’t even paying attention to him. Tygress tries to bring everyone together using her impressive “talents” but it isn’t working very well. A laugh comes from off screen as Jeff Jarrett and the Harris Boys enter the frame, Jarrett telling the Filthy Animals that they need to stick to what they can handle and stay away from “The Chosen One” and his US championship. An argument breaks out (as it does) but they leave it at words instead of action as “The Chosen One” and his muscle leave the scene. Gene and Borash got a little lost in the shuffle of this segment, but Jarrett looked good and it got the crowd hotter. ©

<hr><details><summary>General Rection vs. Animal</summary>

This is a match of power against power, but the experience of Animal wins out as he takes advantage after Hugh goes for a back body drop. Animal lands a ring-shaking powerslam to score the win.

Match Time: 5:27

Notes: Announcing helped the bout, as they sold the storyline with Sting well.

Rating: C+

After the match, Animal gets a microphone. He says that people have been asking him all week why he attacked Sting at Pride. He says that it was because Sting thinks he can just walk in and out of WCW and be the savior of the company, but he isn’t about to just jump right over Animal! “The Nature Boss” comes to the ring, saying that Animal has poked a hornet’s nest by attacking Sting, because he was in contact with Sting throughout this past week and all he could talk about was getting a match against Animal! Flair tells him that he has indeed set up a bout between the two at WCW Envy on May 13th! Animal did very well in this short promo segment at working the crowd, but Flair was superb, coming out of this looking excellent. (B+)

Backstage, Sid Vicious talks directly to the camera about proving that he will be the master and ruler of the world tonight by taking the World title away from Scott Steiner. (B)

Elsewhere backstage, Gene and Jeremy are alongside The World… but they are without Lance Storm. Gene quips that perhaps Storm has lost his Canadian pride and ran for the border, but Skipper tells him to shut up. “Primetime” says that he’s ruling The World right now, because he’s got the Gunns, pointing at Major Gunns at his side. Mike Awesome and Shawn Stasiak barely seem fazed by Skipper’s bragging, as Jeremy asks what Lance will think of this if he returns. Again, Elix tells him not to worry about it, what he should worry about is when he retires Goldberg right here tonight! Gene and Jeremy again seemed a little lost here, while Gunns on Elix’s side helped his point. ©

<hr><details><summary>Ernest “The Cat” Miller vs. “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright</summary>

This would seem to be an easy win for “The Cat” who is reeling after his loss last night to Kanyon. However the odd song plays from last night again, which nearly puts Miller into a trance, leading to Wright’s German suplex scoring the pinfall on him in a short bout.

Match Time: 1:55

Notes: Tenay’s strong announcing helps another match look better.

Kid Kash comes to the ring, apologizing to the fans who expected to see him pick up the victory last Sunday at Pride in his debut match in WCW. He says that if Chavo hadn’t cheated, it would have been “the K-I-D” on top, so he wants a rematch! Guerrero comes out, saying that he doesn’t chew his cabbage twice, holmes; he has no reason to face Kash again. It’s all a ruse though, as Kaz Hayashi comes in from out of the crowd and attacks Kash! Chavo and Kaz do a number on the WCW newcomer, shaking hands as they leave the ring together. (D-)

Totally Buff come to the ring with a microphone, laughing about the victory and attack that they pulled on Nash last night. They again tell Kevin to just leave WCW, he has no place and no friends here anymore so just leave! Madusa helps Luger in all his promos, maybe she’s feeding him lines? (B-)

<hr><details><summary>The Filthy Animals vs. Totally Buff</summary>

Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman don’t seem to be quite on the same page as they usually are, which is not good when facing a team as accomplished and well oiled as Totally Buff (heavy on the oil). The match ends with Rey going for a springboard dropkick on Bagwell, but Kidman had been trying to balance himself to do the Shooting Star Press on Luger and the ropes shaking causes him to fall. Luger, the legal man, scoops Billy into the Torture Rack to pick up the win.

We go back to The WCW Panel in our halfway mark of the show, with Tony hyping the action we have seen and the action that is yet to come. Borash and Lovey are the weak parts of the Panel yet at this point, but they’re getting better. Stevie throws us to a pre-taped promo from Booker, saying that “Suckas got ‘ta know what my baby brother thinks ‘bout Pride!” (C-)

We do indeed go to a promo from Booker T’s home, as he says that Lance Storm definitely took him to the limit at Pride inside the steel cage, but just like will happen one day to Scott Steiner, Storm was left looking at Booker getting his hand raised. (C+)

Before we completely leave The WCW Panel, we go to a video of Low-Ki, who will debut soon. Chris Lovey narrates the footage, noting how dangerous Low-Ki is and what his arrival could mean for the X Division. (D-)

General Rection is seen backstage, still smarting from his loss earlier tonight. The Problem Solvers appear around him, and Simon has a problem; saying that someone of Hugh’s skill shouldn’t be losing like that. He tells him that if Rection were to join them, perhaps all of them would easily rise to the top of WCW! Hugh thinks about it, but politely declines, saying that he’s happy doing things on his own. But Simon’s problem now is that he doesn’t like being turned down, and after a slap to the General’s face, CW and Disqo begin to attack him! The three men leave Rection on the concrete floor after slamming his face into a locker door, with Simon saying that he hopes the bump on his forehead will give him a smart lump and make him change his mind. (D+)

A video shows that over the past few months (since January) Goldberg has been all over the world, and in that time he has picked up 29 other wins that have now been added to his record. That means his current Streak is standing at 57 out of 176 before he can get a World championship match! Clips show him during WCW live events picking up victories with the Spear and Jackhammer. (B+)

<hr><details><summary>“Da Man” Goldberg vs. “Primetime” Elix Skipper</summary>

Skipper feels like he’s the man around here now, saying he rules The World because he has Major Gunns on his side; and on his side she really is, pushing him to start this match strong. Instead, he gets taken down with a hard kick, planted with a military press slam, Spear and Jackhammer is the end of this one.

Match Time: 1:50

Notes: The announcing lifted the match. Elix looked silly with Major Gunns at his side because in her high heeled boots she’s taller than he is.

Goldberg gets a microphone and says since his non-televised wins have been counted, this marks 85 victories under his belt. He tells everyone that 176 will be a cakewalk, and then he’ll defeat Scott Steiner all over again and that belt will be around his waist again! Who’s next?! (B-)

<hr><details><summary>Yang vs. “Screamin’” Norman Smiley</summary>

This is a full on comedy match, as Norman does some comedic offense while Yang sells it. The end sees Leia Meow in the ring but leaning out through the top and middle ropes, and Norman does the Big Wiggle on her! Upset and embarrassed, she turns around and slaps him, drawing a disqualification on Yang.

Tygress is backstage tending to Kidman, who will have none of it. He sends her away, telling her to go to Rey, since he’s the one everyone cares about. Billy starts to drink something but throws it away angrily, the cup hitting a mirror and smearing red juice on it. Kidman starts shoving his gear in his bag and leaving the arena. But as he leaves, the camera focuses on the mirror on the wall, which shows Vamprio watching from behind the red liquid with a smile. ©

David Penzer is in the ring announcing the participants for our main event, with both Sid and Steiner looking like monsters as they come to the ring. Penzer is just dwarfed by them when they are all in the ring, though he looked to be settling back into his role better. (B+)

<hr><details><summary>WCW World Heavyweight Championship

“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner © vs. Sid Vicious</summary>

This match was a punchy-kicky brawl from bell to bell, with several near-falls between the two and a lot of out of the ring brawling. At the end, Mike Awesome makes an appearance, which takes Sid’s attention before he could hit a powerbomb. That gives Steiner a chance to hit a low blow on Vicious, dropping him with a belly to belly suplex and locking in the Steiner Recliner to pick up the win and retain his title.

The bell has sounded but Scott refuses to release the Steiner Recliner! He finally does, but he still begins raining stomps onto Sid’s prone body. An elbow drop later, he puts the hold back on again! It looks like “Big Poppa Pump” wants to send a message by putting Vicious out of action. Ric Flair comes to the ring and starts trying to tell Steiner to leave, but he won’t. Finally Tully Blanchard appears, and he slaps Steiner across the face! Scott releases Sid at that, and it turns into a pull-apart between Scott Steiner and Tully Blanchard! These two were feuding a little back in February, and it looks like Steiner isn’t over it! We leave the evening with that scene, as Steiner is screaming for Tully’s blood and Blanchard wants a piece of Steiner!

Match Time: 14:06

Notes: Sid was visibly getting tired and there wasn’t much selling from these two. It needed better color commentary.

Really neat and organized way to post your shows man! I'm actually quite surprise that I'm just now seeing this. I really much enjoy WCW dynasties and I'm positive to enjoy this one. I also enjoy how you post the WWF shows, really nice! I'll be catching up on the dynasty here in a min, just had to comment about how great this looks. Keep it up!

Hopefully May will be great for all to read when I get things posted!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="123Kidd" data-cite="123Kidd" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Really neat and organized way to post your shows man! I hope you aren't having trouble getting through my earlier shows, looking back on them makes me cringe already because of how super long I wrote them. Sure, to the game it's just a guy winning a lot and having a lot of menace rated angles, but Rhyno is one of My Boys, so pushing him has been a lot of fun. I'm sure if I were to drop out of the WWF side, sure the game would move along faster, but then I wouldn't get to book guys like Rhyno and Test, and then I'd just see them drop down the card, and that isn't as fun.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="James The Animator" data-cite="James The Animator" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I hope there aren't too many gaps like that in this series again, because too many could really kill the momentum of the diary. Trust me, I hope to not have many gaps like that either if I can help it! To be honest, even while I was booking ahead, I did somewhat consider dropping this project for something else, but then I realized a few things:</p><p> 1. Were I to start in the late-90s, I would probably end up booking everyone like Scott Steiner, the Hardyz, Jericho, Regal, etc., into the positions they are at anyways. So why not just keep this going where they are already there? Plus I really want to book guys like AJ Styles and Low-Ki from a young age like this, and something like Montreal Aftermath isn't going to get me there for years.</p><p> 2. I don't find TEW itself lends itself very well to games pre-Attitude era.</p><p> So hell... I may as well keep this one active until I either have absolutely no time for it! (Plus, I finally made it into the active diary list, so I can't let it go now!)</p><p> </p><p> I appreciate it Smash, but things like that will just give me a bigger ego <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Really glad to see this back....I'm glad to see you carrying on the deadly sins PPV's too.....it's a good theme to build your matches around too......Steiner vs Goldberg for pride.....Animal vs Sting because Animal is envious of Stings ability to walk in and out of the company at will as well as Kidmans growing envy towards Mysterio.........now it's time to re-debut Mike Awesomes Fat Chick Thriller gimmick ready for WCW Gluttony....as we have two fat chicks in a pie eating contest :p

Good for Tully too......he's gonna die, but still......it takes guts to slap a madman like Scott Steiner across the face. I'm glad to see that Goldbergs "untelivised wins" are being counted too, that should get him closer to the magical 176 and the eventual title shot against Scotty in no time, maybe by.....WCW Wrath?

<p>Just Business</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">From the desk of Eric Bischoff</span></span></p><p> Some news from backstage of the last Friday Nitro, as Kevin Nash was spreading news that he heard Johnny Ace on the phone with some people giving away spoilers from the live show before it went on the air. Before it spread out too far, I put a stop to it by pulling Kevin aside and telling him not to be going around spreading baseless rumors. However, in private I did ask him to keep an ear out on things like that for me in the future, because I’ll be honest, I am still pretty skeptical of how the WWF seemed to know and sign up almost all of the young, mostly ECW talents I was looking to pick up for the X Division. I feel lucky to have been able to grab up Low-Ki and Kid Kash, as well as someone else who is going to debut next week on Nitro. Nash seemed to take this task to heart, saying that “The game is afoot, Watson!” Also, Dustin Rhodes put on a barbeque for everyone, and thankfully no one ate too much and got sick before their matches.</p><p> </p><p> I took note that Norman Smiley seemed to be sporting a more ripped physique; fortunately it wasn’t enough to make the fans take him too much more seriously as I changed his gimmick to capitalize more on his comedic timing, as a comedy-based fun babyface. It went over very well with the crowd. Also David Penzer seemed to take to his old staff member gimmick again; I would rate him as above average, as well as Major Gunns. Her hanging off of Elix Skipper just because Lance Storm wasn’t on hand was to show off that I’ve turned her gimmick into a complete slut, who will get on the side of whoever she feels is in charge.</p><p> </p><p> Elix Skipper also requested a raise from me. It wasn’t a lot, as he was only making $2,400 a month and asked for an additional $1,370. I didn’t feel that he had grown enough for all of that, but giving him 75% of it ($1,028) seemed fair enough. He is now making $3,428, which is a little higher than younger guys than him like AJ Styles but not as much as more talented and seasoned guys like Chavo.</p><p> </p><p> I guess I am putting off the biggest news of all, though. Last week, I was approached by someone offering me a deal that would help take WCW out of the hole. I’m not going to name names, because there is a chance that I may need that option again; it’s good to keep in my back pocket. I’ll admit, it was very nearly an offer that I could not refuse, but it came with baggage, like pushing some specific people in exchange for the loan. I opted to turn it down for now, but let the person know that I would find some sort of secret handshake to let them know if I was in that type of desperate need.</p><p> </p><p> No, instead I had a call to make that I had been putting off. And that call took me to a notary office… where I was signing over 10% stock of World Championship Wrestling in exchange for a twelve million dollar loan.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>----------</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#008000;">“I know this isn’t exactly what you had in mind when you started WCW back up, Eric, but trust me, this will be good business.”</span></p><p> </p><p> I sighed as I watched the bank account turn to a black balance for the first time in months. I wasn’t sure if I was making the right move or not, but what had to be done was done.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">“Yeah… good business,”</span> I mutter to myself. <span style="color:#0000FF;">“At least it will keep everyone paid for a few months, until we can get more sustainable. And then you reap some of the benefits, of course.”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#008000;">“Hey, don’t be like that. You know, you could have asked for more, though.”</span></p><p> </p><p> The truth is, I didn’t want to get much. Twelve million was a lot of money anyways, of course; but when WCW was nearly ten million in the red, and even with the weekly pay-per-views I still saw a nearly $500,000 loss in April, I finally reached out to Shane McMahon and accepted his lifeline. That twelve million pushed the balance of the company up to $4,159,163 in the bank.</p><p> </p><p> It’s not a lot for the second largest pro wrestling company in the world, but it’s a start.</p><p> </p><p> With this, we will continue our weekly pay-per-view offerings, in the hopes of keeping afloat. This will work out well at least until the end of summer, when I can re-evaluate things and see about getting in the regular airwaves again.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#008000;">“Hey, business partner,”</span> Shane says with a smile, <span style="color:#008000;">“don’t think that this is a one-way street. Plus if you ever need more money, it's only a few more percentages away from you now.</span></p><p> </p><p> I did not even want to think about signing any more of WCW over, even if Shane had been very courteous so far and made sure that I knew it was only behind the scenes that this was happening.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#008000;">“But after all, you’re scratching my back. So I am going to scratch yours a little, too. I know one of the guys that our scouts are looking into, and I can give you some extra insight on how to get him locked up to WCW before Dad has a chance.”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">“You would do that?”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#008000;">“Why wouldn’t I? Hey, I’m happy to have lived to see Dad win the Monday Night War that you started. But I also own a share of your company whereas I’m likely to get voted down in favor of Stephanie in the future of that company. They’re willing to use all kinds of dirty tactics on you, so why wouldn’t we fire back a few shots their way?”</span></p><p> </p><p> I never would have imagined having a business partner with the last name of McMahon. But right now, in this moment, perhaps a glimmer of hope re-sparked in both of our eyes.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>----------</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="OOC" data-cite="OOC" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>So yes, as of the beginning of May, I am finally not in the red anymore! What I did was offer it up as a conjoined prize to the four people who won my big contest, with myself as a tiebreaking fifth vote. The options were do we hear out the mysterious stranger, do we take the loan from Shane, or just stay the course with the PPV model. You see which option won. It was definitely time to put this plot thread behind me, and here is to a new, uncertain future for Eric Bischoff.<p> </p><p> So I finally booked out to Envy, and am looking to post a new Nitro before the end of this weekend. Hype! Excitement! It is hopefully a new day in my WCW, where I don’t have to worry about figures quite as much, because I’m sure you all were getting as tired of seeing Eric talk about it as I was starting to feel tired of writing about it. So while I almost expect someone like TsuMirren to come in here and say I’m cheating the game by giving myself a little cash, my defense is that the game itself screwed me by charging $6m for wages in the first two months of this diary; I’m just getting it back for that. But there is more to find out. Is Shane going to stay on the level? Who is this mystery man Shane is giving up contacts for? I guess we shall have to see! Stay tuned in for next time, same Beej time, same Beej channel!</p></div></blockquote>

Awesome stuff. I have just caught up on this recently, having read a portion of it last year, and I am really enjoying it. That isn't a surprise though, considering your TEW 2013 WCW save is one of my favourite diaries full stop. Looking forward to seeing where this goes, I love that you have a lot of backstage storylines as well as the on screen ones.

He says that Flair lines them up and “Freakzilla” knocks them down when the title is on the line. He says he was in the process of murdering Sid when some old yellow toothed bastards got in his way. A special Scott Steiner limerick: <em>“While old men like Tully and ‘Naitch’ are at the doctor replacing their hipper, ‘The Big Bad Booty Daddy’ is out giving the ladies the Big Dipper! It’s gonna make you scream and may even rip ya, but from Cam’rin Diaz to Kelly Ripa, all the freaks know that ‘Big Poppa Pump’ is the man you want inch by inch’a! Holla if ya hear me!”</em> Ric Flair comes out to tell Steiner that while he is glad to see Scott still holding the title, as he still plans on making him one of the best World champions WCW has ever had by making him be a fighting champion, he needs to just leave it alone with Blanchard as Tully is not an active wrestler anymore and just gets a little hot-headed when he sees Scott. “Big Poppa Pump” says that’s not good enough. He tells Flair that he has had enough of “that horse’s ass” sticking his ugly face into Scott’s business, since he is so envious of Steiner then he wants him in a sanctioned match at Envy on the 13th! Steiner even says if he has to, he’ll put the belt on the line to get that old sumbitch to accept! Flair starts saying he can’t do that, but Blanchard himself slides into the ring, and he takes a microphone, saying that he may be old, but he is out to teach Steiner to respect those who came before him; saying that without men like himself and Flair, there would be no pro wrestling for Scott to be the champ of. Blanchard says that he doesn’t care if he wins the belt because he’s not an active wrestler anymore, but he’ll accept the challenge for it anyways just to prove to Steiner that he can beat him for it! Scott smiles as Ric tries to talk Tully down, following him back up the ramp talking but not getting through to him. All three men did some great playing off one another, though Tully just looks completely out of Scott and Ric’s league to younger fans. Scott’s performance was good though, and this got the show off to a great start. (A+)</p><p> </p><p> Not to in-ring action just yet as “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash comes to the ring. He says that “Big Sexy” is in da house, and if “Flexy Lexy” and “Butt Daddy” have the guts to run their mouths about him, then they can come down to the ring and face him tonight in a tag match! Totally Buff come out and ask who he even has left to team with him, saying that Dallas and Scott are washed up and gone, but Nash tells them to accept the challenge and they’ll find out in the main event. Madusa helps Luger to stay on track, as he says he only has 4% body fat so there’s no one Nash can bring in who’s in better shape. They accept the match, as Arn tries to put over that mystery tag challenges sometimes don’t end well, but he doesn’t come off very well here. Despite this needing better color commentary, it gets the crowd hotter. (B+)</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><hr><details><summary><strong>“The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs. AJ Styles</strong></summary></p><p> Finally we get to some in-ring action as the veteran Douglas takes on the youngster Styles. “The Franchise” outwrestles AJ on the mat, but Styles is able to take advantage by speeding the match up on Shane. This seems to instantly enrage Douglas, who gets sick of this quickly and blasts Styles with a chain wrapped around his fist, right in front of the referee! Styles picks up the win via disqualification.</p><p> </p><p> Shane keeps on the attack, hitting AJ repeatedly with the chain and then landing him with the Franchiser to leave him laying on the mat. As Douglas is leaving the ringside area, Gene Okerlund and Jeremy Borash rush out to meet him, with Gene telling Borash to hurry up or they’ll miss the scoop for the Hotline! They catch up to Shane, with “Mean” Gene asking Douglas why he would give up that match like he did. Douglas says that he didn’t care about someone like AJ Styles or Rey Mysterio Jr. before, these young pups weren’t on his radar at all. But then he was stripped of his Hardcore title, to make room for this X Division that was meant to replace good wrestling with flips and flops; and he isn’t going to let them replace “The Franchise,” not over his dead body!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 4:08</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Styles was off his game a little. He says that he doesn’t know what those fools did to him at Pride, but he knows what’ll help him get over it and that’s beating the hell out of Kanyon again! Shrieks heard around the arena reveal that Kanyon and Daffney are up in the balcony, with Kanyon saying that what they did was get into Miller’s head. Kanyon says that his psyche belongs to the Dark Eden, and they can do whatever they want with it. Kanyon tells him there is only one way to be free, and Daffney starts screaming blood, blood, blood! They say that “The Cat” can have a match against Kanyon, but it will be a first blood match! Miller agrees, Daffney screams, and Arn Anderson tries to put over the brutality of a first blood match but comes off a little weak because he’s not a very strong color commentator yet. She looks at Jeremy, who looks like a deer in the headlights until she starts whipping him with her flogger, making him scream. She says that he has potential, before turning to business. She says that Norman Smiley’s actions sickened her to her core last week, and they are going to make him pay for it! As they leave, Gene tells Jeremy not to embarrass him in front of pretty girls like that, asking if he really looks that old. They recount what happened between the two in February, which led to Blanchard getting the better of Steiner in an unsanctioned brawl, but only by the help of Booker T. Can Tully get the better of Scott again, with the World title on the line? The only way we’ll know is by watching WCW Envy! Chris Lovey is still pretty underwhelming compared to veterans like Tony and Gene. (D+)</p><p> </p><p> Before we go back to the ring, Gene sends it to an interview he and Jeremy caught earlier tonight as they got in the middle of a conversation between Ric and Tully. Flair is trying to talk Blanchard down, but he refuses, saying that he is going to do this as a veteran, as a second generation wrestler, and as a man! Okerlund asks if Tully thinks that he as a retired wrestler stands a chance against the current reigning champion of the World. Flair tries to say no, that Steiner is in much better shape and has been wrestling week in and week out compared to Tully not having been in the ring in years; but Tully says that anything can happen, and there’s always a chance. He finally convinces Flair to be on his side, just like Tully was for all those years for Flair. He says they have a little over a week to get him into fighting shape again, and he’s going to use every second of it. The two friends hug, with Arn on commentary saying that he is worried about Tully, but he will be on his side no matter what. Tully did a superb job of selling this angle, with Gene working the off-script freedom to his advantage. Gene and Jeremy shared a small hug in the background, adding comedy to the touching moment of friends coming together, even if even having Gene there seemed to detract from the moment. Flair came across well as a concerned friend, but Arn continued to be having a bad night. Animal seems unable to keep up with Sean’s intensity and quickness, so he slows him down with a methodical power game. Animal is looking to try and get that big scoop powerslam that he won with last week, but the lights of the Hard Rock Cafe begin to flicker, making Animal start looking to the rafters. He starts calling for Sting, but gets a superkick for his troubles, which leads to the Seanton Bomb and O’Haire picks up a huge victory!</p><p> </p><p> After O’Haire leaves the ring, the lights flicker again, this time with Sting’s voice coming over the loudspeaker to address Animal. Billy heads toward the ring as Rey says he’ll be right behind him – but Shane Douglas attacks Rey as he was leaving! Kidman is already out of earshot to hear this, as Douglas lays into Rey’s legs. When he feels he’s done enough, he leans over Mysterio and tells him that Flair’s preoccupation with his old broken down friend has left an opening on a contract laying in Ric’s office; so Douglas signed it, granting him one more match for the X Division title at Envy, in a last man standing match! He again stomps on Mysterio’s knee, before leaving with a loud laugh! He comes to the ring, surprising the crowd. However, his legendary status is mostly only in the WWF, so the faithful WCW crowd don’t give him the reaction he was probably expected to receive. However, he is unfazed by this as he talks about how happy he is to be here in the new World Championship Wrestling, and says that while he wishes he were a younger man to be able to compete like he used to, age has caught up to him. That’s why he says he will continue his legacy by bringing out his pride and joy, his son, Jimmy Snuka Jr.! He says that it will be a six man ladder match, where each man wagers something special to themselves and the winner not only takes all of them but also will earn a title shot of his choosing at a time of his choice. He lists the competitors as Billy Kidman, General Rection, Dustin Rhodes, Lance Storm, Sean O’Haire, and Rick Steiner, saying that they will talk next week on Nitro to say what they are wagering for this bout. Chris didn’t come out of the segment sounding good because it was so obvious he was reading from a script. (C-)</p><p> </p><p> “Prime Time” Elix Skipper with Major Gunns on his arm leads out Mike Awesome and Shawn Stasiak to the ring. He talks about how he is ruling The World right now, saying that he wants the Natural Born Thrillers and their Tag titles back in his World! Skipper looks way more confident with Gunns at his side. O’Haire is the only Thriller in the building so he comes out to answer, saying that he’s a little busy at Envy, but as soon as Elix gives them two members to take on he and Jindrak, they have the match. It looks like The World are gearing up for an attack, but Booker T makes a surprise appearance to have Sean’s back! That got the crowd hotter all of a sudden! Booker says that he is all healed up after the Pride match and he’s ready to get back into the thick of things. Shawn Stasiak scoffs, saying that Lance Storm isn’t even all healed up yet, so there’s no way Booker would be ready for anything by Envy. At this point Skipper starts to look weak as he is getting ignored in his own segment, but bigger things are happening as Booker dares Stasiak to try him, and the two agree to face one another at WCW Envy! Arn Anderson does a fairly poor job of selling the match, which hurts this segment all around; he is slowly getting better, I promise! Shawn tells Booker that he’s going to finish off whatever Lance left behind of Booker at Pride, but Booker responds with his catchphrases; Shawn can save the drama for his mama and at Envy he shouldn’t hate the player, just hate the game. Jeremy isn’t so sure about this, but Gene barges into the locker room of a screaming Filthy Animals. It seems Kidman is not very happy about how things went down earlier tonight during what should have been he and Mysterio’s tag match, and no matter how many times Rey tries to tell Billy that he got attacked, Kidman isn’t having any of it. Tygress tries to calm her men down, but it’s just not working. Konnan finally notices Gene and Jeremy, telling them that if they’re here for a scoop, he has a scoop for them: since Rey-Rey is taking on Douglas and Billy is in the Envy match, he’s challenging Jeff Jarrett to put up the US title and toss his salad at Envy! ©</p><p> </p><p> It’s main event time, and David Penzer is in the ring bringing out Totally Buff. David’s funny inflection doesn’t do him well (if you’ve watched OSW Review before, you’ve probably laughed as hard at them mocking him as I have). Lex comes across well with his flexing. Nash cleans house when he gets the hot tag, sending Totally Buff reeling, setting up Lex for the Jackknife Powerbomb, but Buff breaks it up. Dustin fights in the ring alongside Nash, but Rick Steiner comes to ringside and pulls Rhodes out of the ring, the two of them getting in a fight on the floor! Dustin is left bloodied as Steiner uses a dog collar to punch him repeatedly with! That leaves Nash alone with Totally Buff together, and they are able to tie him up in the ropes and leave him defenseless. While he can’t do anything about it, Luger and Bagwell get Dustin back in the ring after the brutal attack by Steiner, where Luger lifts Dustin onto his shoulders and Bagwell delivers the Buff Blockbuster off of Lex! After the Doomsday Blockbuster, Rhodes is easy pickings for the pinfall.</p><p> </p><p> Kevin Nash finally gets freed from the ropes, but the two on one attack is too much, especially when Madusa comes into the ring and delivers a low blow to Nash. Steiner gets Rhodes again, choking him with the dog collar. Totally Buff meanwhile take Nash out so badly that they actually set his unconscious body up and pose with him, so embarrassing!
