<p>An excellent build up to the main event over the last few weeks.....something that the actual WCW could have benefitted from.....the Champion is coming in looking strong....and looks to be the favourite in a situation that he should realistically be the underdog in....no easy task and a job well done.</p><p> </p><p>

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match – Triple Threat Match</p><p>

“Big Poppa Pump” <strong>Scott Steiner</strong> w/Midajah vs. “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash vs. Diamond Dallas Page</p><p>

Bonus: Who will take the fall? Page</p><p>

Comments: <strong>I still think there's every chance that Nash walks out with the Gold at the aptly titled Greed PPV.....but that's only if you pulled the trigger on an Outsiders reunion......but you've done such a good job with Steiner that I don't want to see him drop the strap yet</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Chicago Street Fight</p><p>

“Da Man”<strong> Goldberg and KroniK</strong> vs. Totally Buff and Animal w/Madusa</p><p>

Comments: <strong>This match would have been so bad IRL....I was (still am) a huge Goldberg mark....but this entire time period was such an utter waste of the one real "star" WCW had left.....luckily you can fix that......squash the scrubs and move on....because I for one would like a repeat of that excellent Goldberg/Steiner Fall Brawl(?) match </strong></p><p> </p><p>

Falls Count Anywhere Match</p><p>

<strong>Booker T</strong> vs. “The Dog Faced Gremlin” Rick Steiner</p><p>

Comments: <strong>Upside, upside, upside.....Booker has it in spades.....Rick Steiner does not</strong></p><p> </p><p>

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship Match – Ladder Match</p><p>

General Rection vs. “The Chosen One” <strong>Jeff Jarrett</strong></p><p>

Comments: <strong>Meh, I liked old Slap Nuts in WCW, sue me lol....that and I never really cared for Bill DeMott in any incarnation</strong></p><p> </p><p>

WCW World Tag Team Championship Match</p><p>

The Natural Born Thrillers (Sean O’Haire & Chuck Palumbo) vs. <strong>“Perfect” Shawn Stasiak and ???</strong></p><p>

Bonus: Who is Stasiak’s partner? Genuinely no idea......Perfect for the swerve?</p><p>

(It is not Mark Jindrak)</p><p>

Comments: <strong>I was a big fan of the Thrillers.....not so much Stasiak, but the other three....and Sanders too.....I even liked Reno lol....but saying that I see decention in the ranks being their downfall here</strong></p><p> </p><p>

WCW Hardcore Championship</p><p>

“The Franchise” <strong>Shane Douglas</strong> vs. Crowbar w/Daffney</p><p>

Comments: <strong>In theory Crowbar should take the Gold, but I was a big fan of the Franchise.....and he'd probably be super p####d to lay down for Crowy</strong></p><p> </p><p>

WCW Cruiserweight Championship</p><p>

<strong>Chavo Guerrero Jr.</strong> vs. Corporal Cajun</p><p>

Comments: The MiA aren't long for this dynasty hopefully.....not today Lash</p><p> </p><p>

USA vs. Team Canada</p><p>

“The Prodigal Son” <strong>Dustin Rhodes and Sid Vicious</strong> vs. Team Canada (Mike Awesome & Elix Skipper)</p><p>

Comments: <strong>I badly want Team Canada to pick up the win.....but it's a big, big ask, unless Sid has a secret Canadian heritage that I don't know about </strong><img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>

Mysterious Acts</p><p>

Konnan vs. <strong>WCW’s Mystery Attacker</strong></p><p>

Bonus: Who is the mystery attacker?</p><p>

(He has not been seen in this diary yet)</p><p>

Comments: <strong>I honestly have no idea who this is....but always back the mystery....especially against Konnan, who outside of his stint in the 3 Live Kru, sucks</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner w/Midajah</strong> vs. “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash vs. Diamond Dallas Page</p><p>

Bonus: Who will take the fall? <strong>DDP</strong></p><p>

Comments: I could see Steiner losing it here given that it's a three way and it would be a way for him to lose the title without actually losing the match. The recent stuff with Nash is another reason why I could see Steiner dropping the title. But in the end I'm going with Big Poppa Pump keeping the title a little while longer.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Aaaw man, here I was going to do a WCW 2001 january diary... oh well <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Though from reading through yours, I can see we've booked things very differently.</p>

<p>A Not-So Stranger Calls</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Between Nitro and Thunder" data-cite="Between Nitro and Thunder" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><span style="color:#0000FF;">“Hey, what’s going on back here?!”</span><p> </p><p> I yell over the commotion and found my way to where both Steiners and Johnny the Bull were crowding around, of all people, Shane Helms. Everyone’s voices are screaming at one another so loud that I’m surprised the live audience hasn’t heard them out there. Helms, to his credit, even with his back to a wall didn’t seem like he’d backed down very far from them; must be some sort of North Carolina pride or something. I tell Scott and Rick that it’s time for them to head to the gorilla position, that I’ll deal with this all later when I find out what happened. Scott makes a quick move toward Shane, who puts his hands up, but it was just a flinch, so I tell him to keep moving. Scott stares daggers at me, but he complies without much complaint.</p><p> </p><p> Later on, when cooler heads seem to have prevailed, Shane meekly comes up to me to talk about it. <span style="color:#2E8B57;">“Hey, thanks, Mr. Bischoff,”</span> he says. <span style="color:#2E8B57;">“Look, I’m sorry to make you come back here like this, but the three of them just came up on me, saying I wouldn’t be anything higher than some cruiserweight jobber to the stars, that I should thank them for keeping the company alive to give me my fifteen minutes. I… guess I lost my cool, I told them that I’ll still be wrestling when they’re too broken down to get off the couch, and it escalated from there.”</span></p><p> </p><p> I rub my temples, telling Shane that just because he has lost to a few heavyweights here and there shouldn’t matter, because he’s one of my young stars. “I’m not going to spill everything, but I have some plans that are in the works, and you’ll be a part of it – and it’ll be pretty far away from where guys like Rick, Scott, and Johnny are, but it’ll be just as big a part of the show. But the Steiners shouldn’t be still hazing rookies – for lack of a better term – in the locker room like that, so I’ll be fining the three of them.”</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#2E8B57;">“Really? You’re taking my side in this?”</span> He beams with a big smile, obviously people are used to the idea of me taking action against main eventers. <span style="color:#2E8B57;">“Thank you so much, Mr. Bischoff!”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">“It’s a new WCW,”</span> I tell him, and he leaves with a smile on his face. </p><p> </p><p> After the show, I let Rick, Scott, and Johnny know as well that for their actions, they would be getting fined a week’s wages. The brothers rolled their eyes and walked off, but after they had left earshot, Johnny let me know that he thought I had “one helluva ball to tell them like that,” letting me know that he’d keep an eye out for me. I’m not sure what that means. But he says that while he is happy being under Scott’s wing like he is, he doesn’t always agree with what he does, and verbally attacking Helms was one of them.</p><p> </p><p> So it looks like that crisis went pretty well, all in all.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">From the desk of Eric Bischoff:</span></span></p><p> I also found out that Tony Schiavone tried playing a rib on the locker room, paying someone to go into the locker room and remove all the towels from the arena showers. It was met with a group of highly sweaty, highly upset wrestlers, so once I found out it was Tony behind it I issued him a stern warning that this was his second prank like this that didn’t have a good outcome. He didn’t seem very bothered by my words. I don’t think I can do a whole lot more about it than that, but Tony and his tasteless pranks are getting a bit irritating.</p><p> </p><p> Rey Mysterio Jr. was asked by me about a month ago if he would consider bulking up a little, and man did he listen! Don’t get me wrong, he’s still pretty obviously a cruiserweight, we aren’t talking Tom Billington levels of bulking up to the point that he’s like ten pounds of muscle in a five pound bag of skin, but he has definitely gotten a lot more muscle. I’m hearing some people question how he got so muscular in such a short time though, and that isn’t good… but he does look more like a star we can push now as opposed to a twelve year old kid.</p><p> </p><p> Midajah also seemed to decide to change herself, going from a pretty average body size to being positively skinny. I don’t know if she’s trying to do that or if she perhaps developed some anorexia. Terry Taylor as well has been looking noticeably different, but his is going the opposite direction; his usually toned frame has started giving way to a more average appearance. That “middle aged spread” is a tough one to get past at a certain age.</p><p> </p><p> There were a few guys who I heard talking about moving recently. Mark Jindrak had been staying in Mexico during his off days, probably with some senorita? But whatever that reason, he moved into Atlanta. Chuck Palumbo moved from his home out in the south west to live back where he went to university at in Missouri. Lance Storm also moved out of Calgary… Alberta, Canada, opting to not have to deal with visa issues anymore by finding a place in Philadelphia that he must have liked from his time in ECW. But we won’t be changing where he’s announced from, because him moving into the US would throw wrinkles into his character that we don’t want to deal with.</p><p> </p><p> I also understand from reading up on some dirt sheets that both Jack Lanza and Dave Hebner have retired out of wrestling altogether. They’ve had some long careers, as both were working for the WWF as agents, and must have both decided within last week that now was the time to hang it up – or, in Blackjack Lanza’s case, ride off into the sunset.</p><p> </p><p> I have some things to finalize for Greed, which is as complete a card as I feel I can put together. I wasn’t sure whether to add on the match with the Mamalukes against Disqo and Wright, but I think I’m better off leaving that for Nitro. I did, however, get some preliminary contracts out for the guys I plan on using as Glenn’s “self help guru” so after I get a signature on that they should be debuting shortly after. Unfortunately, some of the guys I was hoping to pick up from ECW are heading directly to the WWF. Rumor has it that Paul Heyman has joined the WWF, but no word on what he would be doing there yet. But hopefully he and Vince will leave me a few scraps to sign up to help freshen up our product.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><em><strong>ring, ring, ring, ring</strong></em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> It’s a number I don’t recognize. Hopefully this isn’t Shane again… why do I keep getting calls this late?</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><span style="color:#0000FF;">“Hello?”</span><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FFFF00;">“Eric! Tell you what, let me get back into some fighting shape. All I’ve done for the past while is carry boxes, so I need to hit some weights. I’ll give you my address, send me a travel schedule, and I’ll be there as soon as you need me. Eric, I gotta tell you, part of the reason I took time off was because I thought WCW was dead. I’m glad you’re trying to fix the ship. I’ll do whatever you need me to do.”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">“We are still in some hot water, but we’re trying. Knowing that you’re coming back soon will help give everyone a shot in the arm. I’ll send you a schedule. I don’t have anywhere I can fit you onto the card until after the pay-per-view, so you work on getting ready for TV again and I’ll get it set up. Thanks for getting in contact, Steve.”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FFFF00;">“You just let me know, and it’ll be show time all over again!”</span></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>-----</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Thanks for all the predictions so far! I have one Nitro and one Thunder to go before Greed, so plenty of time for others to get some picks in. And Gungner, feel free to start your own diary up; jump on in friend, the 2001 waters are fine! Everyone who has started a game of it have done such drastically different things with it that none of us have seemed all that similar, and that trend looks to be continuing with each one that occurs.</p><p> </p><p> Thanks for still reading, everyone!</p>

WCW Monday Nitro: 3/12/2001

http://i.imgur.com/GfAVMaj.gif

Last Week in WCW: “Scott Steiner’s plan of turning The Insiders against one another looked to be working as Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page have both hit big moves on themselves while Steiner escaped unscathed! Booker T and Rick Steiner brawled all around the arena on Thunder, while Goldberg moved his Streak up a few more numbers while looking ahead to the Chicago Street Fight! Shawn Stasiak was making the Natural Born Thrillers question themselves as he challenged them to a title match! With only six days until Greed, what will we see happen tonight on Monday Nitro?!”

WCW Monday Nitro

Shown Live on March 12th, 2001 (Week 2)

Held at: Colorado Springs World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado (Mid West)

Announcers: Tony Schiavone and Scott Hudson

Attendance: 6,081 people

TV Rating: 3.15

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png We start right off with a non-title match, as “Big Poppa Pump” takes down one half of KroniK, Brian Adams. The two don’t show very good selling, but it’s a really strong start to the show as Steiner throws Adams around with a series of suplexes before locking in the Steiner Recliner to make him tap out at 5:45. (B-)

Rick Steiner comes out to join his brother in the ring as Scott is getting a microphone and laughing at the Insiders. He says that he has shown that there are no real friends in WCW, especially when it comes to the World title, and now that he’s shown that they can’t trust one another, the handicap match that Ric Flair wanted to book but couldn’t because it’d show how biased he is won’t happen; because now Page and Nash will be out for one another’s blood! Scott taunts Booker T as well, saying that since he couldn’t beat Scott, now he’s going to get his ass handed to him by “The Dog-Faced Gremlin”, especially now that Flair and Cat made it a Falls Count Anywhere match! “The Nature Boss” comes to the aisle to say that if he wanted to put Scott in a handicap match against the Insiders, he’d have done it; but just like he said all along, he isn’t out to screw Steiner out of his title, he wants to make him one of the best champions ever by putting him against all the best competition of the world. He adds that he didn’t make Booker vs. Rick a falls count anywhere match to help either of them, just to make sure that there’ll be a great match for WCW fans, and since they seemed so comfortable fighting through the crowd on Thunder. Scott tells Flair that if he wants to see Steiner defend against all the best, then maybe he should start getting some talent around here, because he’s beaten them all so far – and when he keeps throwing losers at “Big Poppa Pump” they’re just gonna keep losing! The crowd got hotter throughout the segment, Scott’s performance looked good and so did Flair, successfully showing that the two are on equal footing in the fans’ eyes. (B+)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Now it’s time to get serious for a moment as Team Canada come to the ring. Lance Storm once again puts over the idea that Dustin and Sid can’t trust one another, with Storm referencing Nash and DDP since they are Rhodes’s friends, and look at how trustworthy they have been lately. Elix bouncing around just helps show that he doesn’t fit in, but Storm holds this together nicely as he says that the Filthy Animals are going to find out again why they don’t blame Team Canada for their problems, they should blame themselves. ©

Awesome and Skipper take on Mysterio and Kidman in a solid tag team match, but commentary get a little lost without Tenay there to call the cruiserweight style action. Awesome and Rey are in the ring toward the end, with Mysterio trying to use his speed but Awesome catching him and drilling him to the mat. But that’s when Sid appears and starts walking to the ring! Awesome breaks his concentration and looks like he’s going to dive out of the ring at Vicious, but Mysterio rolls a surprised Awesome up and gets the pinfall at 5:35! ©

With Rey and Billy getting out of there as fast as they can to escape the wrath of Team Canada, under the watchful eye of Sid. Sid is joined at the top of the aisle by Dustin Rhodes, who says that they know what Storm is trying to do with pushing this distrust, but he already told Sid that it wasn’t that he wouldn’t come out to help him, he didn’t know it was happening because he was standing by with Gene Okerlund. “The Prodigal Son” says that these two big American bulls are gonna kick Team Canada’s ass back above the border! (C+)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Two heel teams who have had some problems as of late picking up momentum take one another on as the Jung Dragons face off with their old rivals, 2 Count. Yet again miscommunication is the order of the day as Yang gets pinned with the Bottom’s Up in 4:05 after Hayashi accidentally backed into him and caused them to smack heads. (C-)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Mike Tenay is standing backstage with Booker T, who has a match tonight against Jeff Jarrett. Booker says that Jarrett opened his mouth on Thunder last Wednesday, but Booker didn’t get to shut it properly. When Mike questions him about his upcoming falls count anywhere match at Greed, Booker answers that he doesn’t care if the match stays in the ring or if it goes into the popcorn stands, he wants Rick to save the drama for their mama and bring it down to the ring so that Booker can show why he deserves the rematch against Scott. Booker came across well here, though Tenay performed a little flatly. (C+)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Elsewhere backstage, the Natural Born Thrillers are in their dressing room. The distrust in the room is heavy, which now I realize is going on a lot in WCW right now. Jindrak is taping up his wrists for his match later, when Palumbo tells him not to keep embarrassing the Thrillers tonight or else he might find himself in the same position as Stasiak. O’Haire says that goes for Chuck as well if it were to come down to it, but Mark tells them both to just calm down, that he’ll prove himself later tonight when he takes down Stasiak before Greed even happens! (C+)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png The Boogie Knights don’t seem to be on the same page as Disqo talks on his cell phone, getting advice from his self-help guru during their match with the Mamalukes. Wright finally has enough of it and decides to just abandon the match, leaving Disqo to the Mamalukes! Vito and Johnny take over completely, finally ending the match with the skylift hip toss slam at 4:34. The announcers did a good job of putting over this match, but we underestimated how hot the crowd would be leading into this, so telling them to work the crowd didn’t go over well. (D)

“Mean” Gene catches up with Alex Wright as he’s throwing his things into his bag backstage, asking Alex what he was doing leaving his partner like that. Wright says that he can’t handle Disqo and all the talk about that guru anymore, so he’s done with Disqo’s nonsense and is ready to further his career. (D+)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Elsewhere backstage, Corporal Cajun and General Rection are shown laid out, with the Harris Boys standing over them! It looks like this time when Booker T takes on Jeff Jarrett, there won’t be any MIA backup! ©

Ric Flair: “That Lash kid just doesn’t have a grasp of what to do in the ring, he probably isn’t worth keeping around.”

“The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett takes a microphone to say that it looks like the Misfits had a little accident backstage, but what happens in the ladder match this Sunday at Greed won’t be an accident! Jarrett says that Ric Flair can’t stand in his way to putting the United States title back around his waist, and then he’ll be getting right back on top of WCW. He also talks about Booker T, saying that Booker has always gotten lucky to beat him before, and on Thunder he didn’t pin Jarrett, so tonight that slapnut is gonna find out why he is “The Chosen One”! (B-)

The crowd are buzzing as always when Jeff Jarrett takes on Booker T, but there’s no conclusive winner as Rick Steiner comes out and hits Booker with a steel chair! Booker picks up the win in 7:02, and while Jarrett doesn’t look very happy about it, he doesn’t want to run afoul of the Steiners. (B-)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png “Big Sexy” comes to the ring with a microphone, letting us know that yet again, “Big Sexy” is in the house. He tells everyone that he was talking to his biggest fan a few days ago who told him that he needed to win the title at Greed, he sends his best wishes and a promise to “Scott in Japan” that by this time next Monday, he would have that belt in his hands. He moves on to say that he’s had many friends, companions, and allies in this business over the years, and he rarely holds it against them if they try to use him to get over. But he never gets mad; he just gets even. Nash calls out Diamond Dallas Page, telling him that the Insiders have been avoiding one another now for about a week, so if it’s over, let’s get it over with. Dallas comes out to the ring, getting right in Nash’s face and saying that he’s getting pretty tired of hearing Nash blame him for driving a wedge between their team when Nash is the one who started this by not believing that Page could get the job done. Dallas says that he got powerbombed last Monday, it wasn’t the first time and probably won’t be the last. “But on Thunder, I came to help, and got nailed. That don’t fly – so maybe after you felt the Diamond Cutter, maybe you’ll believe that I’m gonna be the next WCW World champion for the fourth time – fourth time – fourth time – fourth time!” Page isn’t doing very well without a script here. Nash is flippant about it, saying hey, there’s no hard feelings; but that he’s held that belt five times already, so it’s time for sweet six. Page warns Nash that when they meet in the main event tonight, maybe one of them won’t make it to Greed. They agree that is exactly what Scott Steiner wants; but that if someone has to knock them out of the match, better it’s one another than Steiner. With trepidation, they shake hands, saying that the best man can win – but each man saying that it’s gonna be them. (A)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png We go backstage to see KroniK, who apparently haven’t gotten any offers for tonight, so they’re ready to leave. Adams heads to get a shower after his match earlier, when Clark gets attacked by Totally Buff! Lex comes across as a real piece of crap for orchestrating this two on one attack, as they leave Bryan laying in the locker room! What impact might this have on the Chicago Street Fight? (B-)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png The Steiner Brothers have visitors backstage as Ric Flair and “The Cat” Ernest Miller join them in their dressing room. Rick and Scott scoff at them as Flair says that he doesn’t want to see either of them interfere in the main event tonight, or else there will be repercussions. Flair and Scott have really started improvising well off one another by now, as Scott tells Ric that he’s looking forward to doing some push-ups with Midajah and one or two other Colorado freaks and watching those two goofs beat each other out of their minds. Flair says he’ll hold Scott to that, as they leave the room… with Scott then telling Rick that “Those bitches can’t tell ‘The Big Bad Booty Daddy’ what to do.” (B-)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png In another poorly placed attempt to work the crowd, Goldberg moves his streak up to 45-0 by defeating “Sugar” Shane Helms. Helms puts up a strong fight, managing to last to 3:13, but the Spear and Jackhammer lay out all men eventually. Goldberg looked excellent out there. (D+)

Goldberg: “I don’t know why you’re telling him to look better than anyone else against me, this kid has very little upside. You should cut him loose.”

Totally Buff come to the stage to tell Goldberg that next Sunday won’t be so easy compared to taking out these “little kids” compared to strong, virile, competent men like Totally Buff and Animal. Madusa stroking Luger’s abs while he talked helped get the point across, I suppose. Goldberg comes across well too, as he shows no fear and urges them to come to the ring right now and prove it, when Animal hits the ring from behind him and nails Goldberg in the ribs with a motorcycle helmet! With Clark already taken out backstage (and Tony saying that he heard Adams was attacked when he got out of the shower as well) that’s all three of the team for the Chicago Street Fight assaulted now! What will that mean for Greed? (B+)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Shawn Stasiak meets up with “Mean” Gene backstage ahead of his match up next, with Gene trying to pry for who Shawn’s partner will be at Greed. He tells “Scheme Gene” that he isn’t about to spill to the loudest mouth in WCW, but he says that judging by how the Thrillers are acting, it looks like it’s been all downhill since he “took the ‘Perfect Shawn’ out of the group”. When Okerlund says that no, he got kicked from the group, Shawn calls it a minor twist of words, just like he’s about to twist the Thrillers out of shape even more than he has before. ©

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png The camera leaves Gene as Stasiak does, noticing something in the background… it appears that the mystery attacker has struck again, as Norman Smiley is down and out on the concrete! Tony and Scott once again are left to question who is doing this attacking? ©

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Thrillers collide as Mark Jindrak takes on Shawn Stasiak, both men having something to prove. The match calmed the crowd down as planned, a note that should have been used a few matches ago. Stasiak was really off his game, but he’s not really the greatest wrestler anyways so it’s hard to tell. He ends this one using the “Flair pin in the corner with feet on the ropes” to get the tainted victory at 4:15. (D)

But Shawn isn’t done, as Jindrak complains to referee Mark Johnson about the way it ended, Shawn catches him from behind with a forearm, before locking in a single leg crab. Shawn wrenches on the hold despite Johnson telling him to release the hold, and finally he really pulls up on it, and Jindrak screams in agony! Tony and Scott wonder if he didn’t actually break Jindrak’s leg right there, but Shawn finally breaks the hold and runs off when O’Haire and Palumbo hit the ring to chase him away. Hudson points out that this looks like Mark Jindrak definitely is not going to be in the World Tag Team title match at Greed! (C+)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Chavo Guerrero Jr. comes to the ring, Schiavone noting some extra swagger in his step since he knows the Misfits in Action were taken out earlier tonight. Guerrero gets a microphone and runs down Hugh and Lash, telling them that if Rection holds onto the US title after Greed, maybe he’ll go after him and have both the US and Cruiserweight titles! But his gloating and grandstanding only lasts until his opponent, Konnan, comes to the ring, with “K-Dawg” telling Chavo that he wasn’t surprised when he saw Chavo turn his back on the MIA, “because it’s just like you Guerreros to stab your familia in the back!” Chavo attacks Konnan at those allegations, and the match begins! ©

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Obviously this is not for Chavo’s Cruiserweight title since Konnan is above the weight limit. But that’s good for Guerrero, as Konnan outmaneuvers him in the end to hit the “K-Factor” before locking in the Tequila Sunrise at 3:11 for the win. Tygress jumps with joy at ringside, which is great for the teenage demographic. (C-)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png In a split screen we see backstage where Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page are walking to the ring. Normally together, tonight they face off one-on-one, and it’s next! (B-)

The main event battle of the Insiders gets the crowd red hot, but it just barely seems like it gets going, neither man having the time to gain an advantage before the World champion comes out with his steel pipe and lays into both Nash and Page. Steiner does a number on both of them to lead to a no contest finish at 8:24. (C+)

Steiner shoves Nick Patrick out of the ring and threatens to hit him with the pipe as well, before laying into the Insiders with it again! He especially takes to Page’s ribs and Nash’s knees, using the pipe across Dallas’s throat to pull him back in the Steiner Recliner before stomping Kevin. Scott does some push-ups while both his enemies are laid out, but the crowd comes to life as Booker T starts heading to the ring! Scott starts urging him to “bring it on you summuvabitch!” but then Booker gets hit from behind by Rick Steiner! Rick and Booker fight around the stage area with Tony and Scott putting over that the match could end between those two on that stage at Greed! “Big Poppa Pump” however is still demolishing his opponents, when finally some help arrives in the form of “The Cat” Ernest Miller, Paul Orndorff, and Terry Taylor, who plead with Steiner to stop this and leave! He takes swings at all of them, when WCW security finally tackles him and put Steiner in cuffs! They start hauling Steiner away, with him cursing and kicking at anyone who stands near enough for him to strike at them. Scott looks like a real star in this segment, coming off as a true monster, and it got the crowd red hot. The show goes off the air with Nash and Page both laid out in the ring, our World champion in handcuffs, as Rick Steiner and Booker T brawl around the arena! If Nitro is this wild, what will happen in six days at Greed?! (B+)

Scott looks good in this segment by doing some great improvised dialogue, laughing about how he played the Insiders against one another – and it wasn’t even that hard! He says that those two goofs had such big egos that working them against the other was child’s play, just like it’ll be to pick up some freaks tonight in Colorado Springs. They take time to mention Booker T as well, saying that he isn’t gonna make it past Rick at Greed because he ain’t good enough, and he never was and never will be good enough to beat “Big Poppa Pump”! <em>“So I’ll be here all night tellin’ you how ****ty your heroes are, and after that I’ll be makin’ your girlfriends into my bitches! Holla if ya hear me!”</em> The crowd are hot after that strong start to Thunder! (A)<p> </p><p> Jamie Knoble gets a chance to prove himself in our opening contest, but unfortunately for him, he runs into a dog-faced brick wall. Rick Steiner takes him out handily in 2:51 with a Steiner Driver. The announcers lifted the match by talking about Steiner’s match this Sunday night at Greed, but this match succeeded at calming the crowd down after that hot opening. (D+)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Backstage, “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” Scott Steiner is posing in front of a mirror that he came upon, but as the camera spins around, the reflection reveals that mirror is in a room along with Paisley. Steiner notices her, and he starts obnoxiously looking her over, calling her “freak material”! He starts telling Paisley to feel up his biceps, and it’s about the point that he tells her that he could use some “jungle lovin’” that we realize this segment has gone off the rails due to bad improvising. Kwee Wee enters the scene, and he’s upset to see the World champion sexually harassing Paisley, and he starts screaming as “Angry Alan” comes out! He challenges Steiner to meet him in the ring tonight, with Scott laughing his way out of the room. I’m sure once a streaming service takes over the internet, this segment will be on a lot of crazy Scott Steiner compilations. ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> We find out from Tony that there is something going on backstage, and we see a group of EMTs checking on both Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr! (B-)</p><p> <em>Scott Steiner: “That little Hic-spanic-y punk needs to put a bag back on his head ‘cause he’s too damn ugly for fans to get behind him. Better yet, write him off and hire me a new title bitch!”</em></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Our WCW Hardcore champion makes his way to the ring next, and Shane Douglas – as always – seems to have something on his mind. He says that in just a few days, this Sunday at Greed, he will be showing why he felt he needed to take Crowbar under his wing; because while he showed that he had potential, apparently he didn’t have the skills or mental acumen to figure out how to reach it. Douglas taunts Crowbar by telling him that maybe in a few years under Shane’s guidance, he could have gotten lucky enough to take the title from him, but he tried to speed up the process, and it will lead to his complete and utter downfall due to his own avarice and greed… at Greed. This brings out Crowbar and Daffney to the top of the aisle. Daffney tonight is wearing a fiery red wig and is dressed like the X-Men’s Dark Phoenix, carrying a sign that reads “Daff Phoenix always rises again” with her. Crowbar tells Douglas that he never should have agreed to be under Shane’s tutelage because he should have seen how Shane was just going to use him for his own gains. He points to the Hardcore title and says he should have been wearing it at Sin, but he let Douglas swoop in and take the belt away from someone who really deserved it, Terry Funk! Funk’s name draws a small pop from the crowd, but Daffney tells Crowbar that she knows Crowbar doesn’t want to hear this, but he really should just back off. <em>“Crowy, you know I love ya, but I can’t watch you do this. You know Terry isn’t in WCW anymore because Eric needs to save money, and your contract is done at the end of the month. He’s not planning on re-signing you until the company is more stable financially.”</em> Nobody pays attention to her as Douglas tells Crowbar that no one will take the hardcore torch away from the man who made hardcore cool. (C-)</p><p> </p><p> After a commercial break, the segment continues in a new form as “The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett and Chavo Guerrero Jr. have joined Douglas in the ring for the upcoming six man tag team match, with Jarrett saying that here in the ring we have three of the most talented wrestlers in WCW, how does Crowbar and some misfits think they can possibly win this match, let alone win at Greed? Chavo tells them to <em>“Buck up, little troopers,”</em> because they’ll try to save just a little bit left of them so that the three make it to Greed, so they can lose on the grander scale of the pay-per-view. Crowbar is then joined at the top of the ramp by General Rection and Corporal Cajun, the Misfits in Action! Hugh says that he doesn’t care what the three in the ring say, because their overconfidence just feeds the MIA! He says that all Jarrett, Guerrero, and Douglas have done is overlook their opponents and just expect to walk past them, and it may be a war that the MIA may not win, but they will win their respect right here tonight! With that, the General turns to Crowbar and tells him that tonight, he is swearing Crowbar into an honorary position as a Misfit in Action, Private Crowbar! They salute one another and then rush to the ring for their match! Daffney did a good job helping Crowbar here, even if he seemed a little goofy. Jarrett came off very well though, and this angle got the crowd hotter for our next match. ©</p><p> </p><p> In a big six-man tag team match, we didn’t expect the crowd to be so hot after the previous segment, so having the guys work the crowd didn’t play out well. Jarrett, Guerrero, and Douglas held Corporal Cajun in their side of the ring to deliver some pretty big punishment, but a dropkick fells Shane and Chavo to lead him to tagging in Rection! The US champion hits the ring with a variety of big moves, and the match falls into chaos as all six men get in and brawl with their opponents for Greed! In the chaos, “Private Crowbar” lives up to his name by pulling a hidden crowbar out from under the ring, sliding it to Hugh who nails Shane with it! General Rection hits the No Laughing Matter and that leads to the three count at 8:35 and victory for the Misfits in Action! ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Mean” Gene Okerlund is backstage, and after cheering on the feel-good moment that just happened in the ring he pulls attention to his guests at the time, KroniK and Goldberg! They talk about Greed this Sunday, where they will enter a Chicago Street Fight against Totally Buff and Animal. Gene’s transition wasn’t very good, but Goldberg comes off as a real star, saying that these three men right here are ready to finally finish off their foes, who have been thorns in their side for months. Adams and Clark agree, saying that they’re not charging Goldberg for being his backup, because they want to get their hands on Totally Buff that much. Goldberg ends by saying that in Chicago at Greed, it’s going to be another notch on his new streak… Animal, Bagwell, and Luger are next! (B)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Big Poppa Pump” is backstage, when Ric Flair approaches him. Flair tells Steiner that he isn’t going to get away without having any match after the way he’s been acting over the past few weeks, so after what he did earlier, he’s going to go out right now and face Kwee Wee. Steiner laughs, asking Flair is he’s serious; he’s gonna break that little punk bitch if he breathes on him too hard. Flair says that some of the best fights of his life came from the guys he never expected, so head out there for the match. Scott rolls his eyes, telling Midajah to get her skinny ass moving so we can get this over with. Flair and Steiner played so well off one another here, getting the crowd hotter even if Midajah looked out of place by making goofy shocked faces about Kwee Wee. (A)</p><p> </p><p> “Angry Alan” is on hand to make a run at Scott Steiner after what happened earlier in the night, but “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” takes no time at all to just shrug him off, hit a few powerful suplexes, and close the match at 2:12 with the Steiner Recliner. Paisley did some good work at ringside, rolling her eyes and taking a blasé attitude toward Steiner’s taunts and catcalls toward her, but Scott just looked excellent out there with a very dominant performance. ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Animal accompanies Totally Buff to the ring, and the three talk about Greed. They say how the Chicago Street Fight belongs to Animal, Luger adding <em>“And I’m from Chicago, too!”</em> Buff and Madusa take out a few pamphlets from around the country that they say are places Goldberg can go once they retire him. Threats are also thrown toward Luger and Bagwell’s opponents tonight, Konnan and Booker T. (B-)</p><p> </p><p> Konnan comes to the top of the stage, saying that he and Luger were never tight even when they ran with the same pack, now he’s gonna make Luger toss his salad “4 life”. But other than that, Konnan makes a challenge for whoever has been attacking people backstage, saying that it’s gone on too long, and nobody jumps the Animals and gets away with it! ©</p><p> </p><p> Konnan and Luger put on a solid match, though neither of them sell very well for one another. Madusa and Tygress do good work outside the ring cheering on their clients, though this is one of those matches where Tony and Mike trip on one another so Mike and Scott try harder to play off each another. Konnan takes over on the match by hitting the K-Factor, but the lights go out in the arena before he can capitalize. The TurnerTron lights up, with words appearing that say “I accept” but when the lights come back up “The Total Package” has recovered and he blasts Konnan with a running forearm! Luger lifts him up into the Torture Rack, and Konnan has to submit at 7:52 to give the match to Luger. ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Jeff Jarrett is angrily packing up his bags for the evening, yelling at the Harris Brothers as he does. A knock comes to the door, and it’s the Jung Dragons. Leia talks to Jarrett, saying that they will pay him for the backup of the Harris Boys during their match tonight against Goldberg. Jarrett says that he can make a deal with them, telling Ron and D that if he’s getting paid, then maybe this isn’t a complete waste of an evening. (C-)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Backstage, Booker T talks about how he can’t wait to get his hands on Rick Steiner at Greed this Sunday because it’ll mean he’s one step closer to facing Scott for the World title again. He adds that tonight in the main event he faces Buff Bagwell, and he’s going to show that Buff’s stuff is just drama that needs saved for his mama. Booker improvised pretty well here, coming off as focused and ready. (B)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Mean” Gene is backstage again, this time with Disqo. He says that after the backstabbing he took from the guy he thought was his friend, his brother-in-dancing-arms Alex Wright, he has spoken to his self-help guru. He told Disqo that he was coming to WCW to aid him with the Mamalukes, and he will be here next Monday night, so Disqo is here to challenge Vito and Johnny to face his self-help guru next Nitro! (D)</p><p> <em>Kevin Nash: Glenn just hasn’t gained much charisma over the years, you should let him go and hire someone better… how about Scott Hall?</em></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Rick and Scott Steiner are backstage, and as soon as Scott sees the camera he’s mugging for it again, talking about how Nash and Page won’t even come to Greed and he’ll just flex the largest arms in the world for a half an hour to close the pay-per-view, because that’s what the fans are paying for anyways. Scott struggled with improvising here, trying not to repeat himself but he’s been saying the same thing for a few weeks in a row so it didn’t work out. (B)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> In a non-title match, Shawn Stasiak costs Chuck Palumbo and Sean O’Haire their match against KroniK, as he pulled O’Haire’s arm over the top rope. That lets him prey for the High Times and Adams pins him at 5:47. The psychology was lacking in this match, as O’Haire selling his arm made no sense for why the High Times, as a double chokeslam, pins him, because there was no work on the arm before that. But Adams and Clark definitely showed off their great tag chemistry. (B-)</p><p> </p><p> Stasiak stops to talk to “Mean” Gene when he gets backstage, with Shawn talking about how it looks like the Thrillers aren’t moving into Greed looking very well, and that it’s so much easier to hurt the Thrillers now that he means to instead of trying to help them get over. He says that Kronik won’t get a title match from that win because O’Haire and Palumbo won’t have the titles past Greed, calling himself much smarter and wiser in the ring than they are because he’s wrestled longer and has wrestling in his blood. He says that his partner is going to be great, because he’s perfect! ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Goldberg makes his big entrance, and he looks at the Jung Dragons standing there with the Harris Boys. He tells them to bring it on, he’ll take them all on at once! (B)</p><p> </p><p> Four on one odds would normally be insurmountable, but this is “Da Man” Goldberg! He spears the Harris Brothers and pins both of them at once, before kicking Hayashi away to drill Yang with the Jackhammer. He then Jackhammers Kaz at a mere 1:42! Tony claims that this makes Goldberg’s streak 49-0, will Greed be number 50? Lifting the crowd here didn’t work out very well because they were still pretty hot, but Goldberg’s great performance really stood out. (D+)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Mean” Gene is backstage this time with our World Tag Team champions, O’Haire and Palumbo. Chuck says that Stasiak has been a thorn in their side, and that’s why they kicked him out of the group. Sean tells them that KroniK can’t just win over them because they are better than that; when they take out Stasiak and whoever has decided to team with him, then they will finally be done with Stasiak! ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> On his way around the backstage area, Scott Steiner is again heard bragging to whoever listens that he took out Nash and Page, they won’t be at Greed, he’s gonna just keep the WCW title until he leaves the company, either by getting offered enough money to leave or until he retires. He mentions taking some more time at the end of the show to address his freaks as the “real main event” tonight. (B-)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Ric Flair and “The Cat” are back in Flair’s office, and overall they just say that since tensions are so high ahead of Greed, they are making sure no one interferes in tonight’s main event. I don’t know why they don’t do this for the rest of the show, but it sounded good. One thing is for sure, Miller does not improvise well. He always comes off as forced and rambling, meanwhile Flair is just running circles around him. (B)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> In our main event, Booker T and Buff Bagwell put on a very strong match that commentary call a look into the future of WCW. With no outside interference, the bout is just a nice match between two young talents who get the crowd buzzing, and Booker is able to pick up the victory with the Book End in 12:03. (B-)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Big Poppa Pump” comes out to close our show, bragging once again how he’s taken out the Insiders from inside out, showing their egos are bigger than their supposed friendship. He offers to give them a workout show, but not as good as the one he’s giving at Greed. Steiner drops down and starts doing push-ups while holding his crotch over the title, which Hudson calls a sickening display. But it all comes to a halt when two men rush into the ring – it’s Kevin Nash and DDP, and they attack Steiner together! The Insiders do a number on him, Page finally drilling him with the Diamond Cutter to leave the World champion laying! The crowd go ballistic for this, cheering on wildly for their heroes! The two shake hands, it looks like the challengers are united tonight – but will they stay that way this Sunday at Greed? Team Canada (Mike Awesome & “Primetime” Elix Skipper) vs. “The Prodigal Son” Dustin Rhodes and Sid Vicious

Announced Time Limit: 30:00

Official: Billy Silverman

Ringside: No One

After the opening fireworks, we head straight to the ring for tag team action. Commentary talk about how strange it is that Lance Storm and Major Gunns seem to not be around, when you would think he would want to be on hand for this match featuring his charges. The crowd are popping huge for big Sid Vicious, as they always tend to do, but especially at the possibility of seeing him go head to head with the equally big Mike Awesome. The fans don’t really get the chance to see it though, as all four men take equal time to be in and out of the ring, perhaps if they’d had more time then the fans would have gotten what they were looking for in that battle. They do a very fair job of warming up the crowd for the rest of the evening though, as they play their roles in the Rock ‘n Roll forumla well; Rhodes gets worked over in the corner by the turncoats, until Sid gets the hot tag and closes the bout by drilling “Primetime” to the mat with the release Powerbomb. That gets the one, two, three, starting the show off nice and strong.

“The Nature Boss” Ric Flair is backstage along with “Mean” Gene Okerlund. Gene hypes that Flair will be back in the internet position on WCWwrestling.com for most of the evening, answering questions from fans online. Flair says that means he’ll be watching the show intently, taking notes of who does what and if they don’t impress him, it may have implications on their future in WCW, whooo! Flair and Gene discuss the rest of the show, but Okerlund stumbles here and there, like saying the wrong Steiner is facing Booker T and throwing it to Tenay back with Booker.

It is actually Stevie Ray backstage with Booker T, as he seems to have become Booker’s personal interviewer for pay-per-views. The brothers Heat discuss Booker’s Falls Count Anywhere match tonight against Rick Steiner, with Booker saying that after the out of the ring brawls he was subjected to thanks to Steiner, he’s happy it was made a match where he can drag Rick by his dog face all around the arena and pin him wherever he wants. He warns Rick to “Save the drama for yo’ mama, be a man and leave Scott out of it, because we may not be in Harlem but it’s gonna be a street fight, sucka. And when it’s over, don’t hate the playa; hate the game.” Stevie has been left far behind his brother in terms of popularity, meaning he looks like he doesn’t belong here. There are plans of changing his role in the near future.

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship

Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Corporal Cajun

Announced Time Limit: 30:00

Official: Mark Johnson

Ringside: No One

Chavo takes his time getting this match started, stalling a bit outside the ring to irritate his rambunctious opponent. Tony talks over Mike in this one, as Tenay is trying to call the match while Tony speaks over him to talk about the Misfits in Action. Hudson just calls the action with Mike, which is something they do well. It’s not a very long match and these two aren’t exactly the regular high flying luchadors so it’s a pretty grounded regular match-up, which ends when the Cajun thinks he has it won after the Whiplash 2000, but Guerrero got his foot on the rope. While Mark Johnson is informing Lash that he didn’t win, Chavo rolls him up and again, gets his feet on the ropes – this time unseen by Johnson, as he counts the three. What saved Chavo the first time, retains his title for him the second time.

WCW Hardcore Championship

“The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs. Crowbar

Announced Time Limit: 25:00

Official: Scott James

Ringside: Daffney (Crowbar)

We go straight from one title match to another as the Hardcore championship is on the line. There are no pretense of the mentor/student relationship left here, as Crowbar takes it right to Douglas at the opening of the match. Daffney, wearing a red wig and a shirt that says “Weasley”, keeps telling Crowbar to stop and call off the match, but he doesn’t listen to her as he keeps putting more pressure on Shane. “The Franchise” is no pushover though, and he continually fights back, occasionally doing a cheap tactic like jabbing the challenger in the eyes and then getting distance between them. But the experience edge goes firmly to Shane, and despite all the weapons associated with the hardcore division, it is one countermove that spells the end – Crowbar leaps off the middle rope for an axe handle sledge, but Douglas catches him and hits a big belly to belly suplex, making the quick cover and getting the win to retain the championship. Daffney looks disappointed and walks backstage alone.

Match Time: 3:56

Rating: C-

“The Franchise” takes a microphone afterwards and tells Crowbar that “It looks like your final lesson was tonight, when you learned not to mess with ‘The Franchise’!” Douglas says that he put hardcore wrestling on the map, and he will continue to hold that legacy until he decides to pass it down to a worthy successor. Until then, all of the fools who try to take it from him will get their asses Franchised!

“I’m the greatest!”

http://i.imgur.com/0vFTjBQ.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/BytPGT0.jpg

Surprising Douglas, out comes “The Cat” along with Ms. Jones! Miller tells Douglas that he talks too damn much, but he is right about one thing; that Douglas did help start hardcore wrestling’s rise. However, after giving Shane his props, Ernest says that we will see about if Douglas gives up the hardcore torch willingly or not, because tomorrow on Nitro he had better call his mama because he’s going to be defending the title again! “I have spoken!” Douglas is complaining loudly in the ring, but nobody is listening as Miller and Jones start dancing on the stage.

“The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett is backstage along with the Harris Boys, and he is taking time to cut a promo before heading to the ring. He talks about how Ric Flair was holding him back when he went for the World title at the start of this year, but he won’t be able to keep “The Chosen One” down next when he climbs the ladder of success and regains the US title! Jarrett tells the boys to follow along, but when he opens the door…

http://i.imgur.com/0f6jrZ3.jpg

Ric Flair is standing in his doorway! Flair tells Jeff that he’s heard him talking about him a lot lately, and he’d been leaving him alone because he didn’t want to hear Jeff’s excuses if he cannot gain the title from General Rection. However, Flair says, Rection is going out there with no backup because his only companion had a match already and won’t be in condition to go help him. So despite the “no rules” way of a ladder match, Flair is banning everyone from ringside during the match, especially including the Harris Brothers! Jarrett is livid, and Flair eggs him on, saying that if he can’t get the match done on his own, then he should just stay back here and forfeit! “The Chosen One” finally relents his complaining and heads to the ring, with Flair wearing a smug grin on his face. These two played off one another very well, Jeff enjoying the rub he gets from working with “The Nature Boy” while Flair stayed on point and got the segment across well. It looks like if Jeff Jarrett is going to win the United States title back, he’ll be doing it all by himself!

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship – Ladder Match

General Rection vs. “The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett

Announced Time Limit: 45:00

Official: Charles Robinson

Ringside: No One

All on his own, Jarrett starts the match hot and heavy with fists to General Rection. He wastes little time in trying to work on the legs of his heavier foe, which Tenay calls a smart move given that this match is all about climbing up the ladder. “The Chosen One” is the first to go out for a ladder, but Hugh baseball slides it into Jarrett’s chest and brings it into the ring himself. He starts setting the ladder up, but Jarrett interrupts with a belly to back suplex. Jarrett then uses the ladder to inflict some more damage on the champion’s left knee, but when Jarrett places the ladder on him and goes to the middle rope for a stomp, the General uses the ladder right back by shoving it into Jarrett’s face! Rection gives his challenger a bulldog onto the ladder, before shoving Jeff aside and trying to set it up again. Jarrett turns the tide with a low blow, putting Rection down on the mat with a jumping DDT. When the challenger tries to climb the ladder however, Hugh comes back strong by bringing Jarrett to the mat with a ring shaking powerbomb! After watching Jeff roll to the outside of the ring in pain, the former “Laughing Man” heads up the ladder, and he just starts touching the championship – but a guitar explodes over his back! Jarrett got one of his Acoustic Equalizers out from under the ring! Jeff pulls Hugh down and hits him with the Stroke before starting to climb the ladder himself. Jarrett just barely starts to unhook the title, but the ladder starts shaking – Rection still has life left, and he pushes Jeff and the ladder down, away from the belt! Hugh brings the ladder back up and starts climbing it, but he looks up at the title… and turns away, opting instead to go for the No Laughing Matter off the side of the ladder! The crowd are absolutely buzzing now!

But Jarrett rolls out of the way! Slowly but surely, Jeff makes his way to his feet and up the ladder, as Rection stirs. He begins climbing the other side, but it’s too late, and Jarrett pulls down the title! We have a new champion!

Following that display, we head backstage to “Mean” Gene Okerlund in the dressing room of “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash. Gene is looking for some words from one of the three men in our main event of this evening, and Kevin gives him a few. He says that he and Dallas had a bit of a rocky patch the past two weeks, caused by Scott Steiner mostly, but maybe Scotty wasn’t all that wrong. He and Page do have big egos, and they both want to be World champion again. Tonight, they both get the chance to do so, but only one person can walk out with the strap. He wishes Page the best of luck, but as for Steiner? He wishes him a good rub down from Midajah before the match, because that’s the only happy ending he’s gonna have tonight!

Konnan comes to the ring all bowdy-bowdy and rowdy-rowdy, but that’s when he calls out the mystery attacker, saying that he’s gonna make whoever it is “toss his salad” all night long. Tygress seems into it, but when the lights go out, we finally find out who has been taking people out…

Konnan vs. Kanyon

Announced Time Limit: 30:00

Official: Mark Johnson

Ringside: Tygress (Konnan)

Konnan tries as he might, but despite how rowdy-rowdy he can get, he never really recovers from the opening attack. Kanyon seems to have a new lease on life, as he eats any offense that “K-Dawg” can muster and fires back more harshly. Tony, Mike, and Scott put over the new gimmick for Kanyon pretty well, that of a crazed Calculating Madman. Tenay broke out his “Innovator of Offense” nickname again, which hadn’t been heard for him in some time. Despite the cheers of Tygress and a late match rally, including a rolling clothesline and the K-Factor, Kanyon is able to pull Konnan by his pants face first into the turnbuckle, stunning him long enough to land the Flatliner and pick up a big return victory.

Backstage, The Steiner Brothers are there along with Midajah. With no Gene Okerlund in sight to hold a microphone and ask questions of them, Rick and Scott just talk to the camera to make threats at their opponents tonight. Scott talks of how he destroyed Page and Nash not long ago on Nitro, and it doesn’t matter that they attacked him on Thunder because he’s “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” and the man with the largest arms in the world and they’re gonna be calling him “daddy” just like all his Chicago freaks. Rick even talks a bit instead of just standing behind his brother, as he tells Booker T that while Booker claimed to be happy about their match becoming a Falls Count Anywhere bout, he should have ran scared because there will be no running or hiding from “The Dog Faced Gremlin” tonight. Rick says that he’s going to prove tonight that Booker T isn’t worthy of facing his brother for the title again, and even if Booker does manage to put a limp hand over top of Rick and get a three count, he’ll be so sore and hurt that he won’t be back to WCW again! Scott pumps his brother up with a slap on the back, telling him to go get it done, as Rick leaves the room. Both brothers did a great job here improvising their promo, as they did a fine job in putting over their matches tonight.

Nothing is sacred between these two as the match begins during Booker T’s entrance to the ring, as Rick rushes him from behind with a clubbing forearm to the back of the neck! Steiner takes the early control of the bout by sending Booker off the stage, getting a surprising two count given how early this is into the match. Rick utilizes the arena by throwing Booker into the guardrails, punching on him while he’s tied up in the loose pieces of railing. Booker does all he can to fight back, but each time Rick is able to stomp him back down to the floor. Finally Booker catches a break as Rick whips him toward a wall, but Booker reverses it into a short-arm clothesline! The former World champion starts punishing Steiner for all the things he did to him early in the bout, slamming pieces of guardrail down onto him as they finally head toward the ring. They keep the intensity up as Rick recovers while Booker was dragging him, and he turns it into a belly to back suplex on the concrete floor! Rick hammers Booker into the steel steps, continuing his strategy of damaging Booker’s shoulder and neck again. Booker gets thrown into the ring, which is the first time this match has made it into the ring after ten grueling minutes of brawling around the arena. Rick definitely doesn’t let up now that they are between the ropes, delivering a brutal head-and-arm suplex that folds Booker over. Rick makes a cover, but Booker somehow kicks out at a two-and-a-half count! Rick feels this is over anyways, as he starts lifting Booker onto his shoulders for the Steiner Driver (Death Valley Driver) but Booker wriggles free and hits a Harlem Sidekick that puts both of them down! He drags an arm over Steiner, but it’s again only a two count. Booker is clearly favoring his weakened neck and shoulder, but he still fights on, trying to win the match and prove himself. As both men get to their feet, they begin throwing punches at one another, with Steiner getting the better of that and sending Booker to the ropes. Rick drills a Steiner-line into Booker’s chest, taking him to the mat, but “The Dog Faced Gremlin” feels a little too good about the move and doesn’t see Booker spin-a-roonie back to his feet, before unleashing a leaping sidekick that puts Rick on the mat! He goes immediately for a cover, but Rick gets his shoulder up just in time. As each man shakes loose the cobwebs, Booker pulls himself to his feet, but is barely on them until Steiner is up and forces him out of the ring and down to the floor. As Booker tries to get back onto the apron, Rick kicks him back down. He takes careful aim, and jumps down with a double axe handle onto Booker’s back – no wait, Booker is up and he catches Rick with the Book End! Booker falls on top of Steiner, and Robinson is right there to count the 1...2...3! The Book End came out of nowhere, but the result is the same as if he had telegraphed it: victory.

A recap video airs that shows the Natural Born Thrillers. It starts off with how they joined together last year, but quickly moves to when they have split apart earlier this month. Shawn Stasiak has put Mark Jindrak out for the unforeseen future as of last week’s Nitro, taking him out of the running to be his partner tonight; not that Jindrak seemed interested in pairing with Shawn anyways. Who could it be?

Tony mentions that this is an odd interruption, as Lance Storm leads Major Gunns down to the ring. Mike and Scott debate about who the mystery partner is, but also what Storm wants, maybe he’s upset that his boys lost in the opening match and felt he has to talk about it. Storm gets on a microphone and says that while he isn’t very happy that Sid and Dustin won over Elix and Mike earlier, there is another day that will see those two get their comeuppance. If Lance can be serious for a moment, he wants to talk about people who have great sense. He tells that he was a triple champion only a few months ago, and since then Team Canada haven’t held much gold; and he plans on changing that. Tony asks if that means Team Canada are challenging the winners of this match, but no – Storm reveals that Shawn Stasiak had the sense to come to him to be his partner, which is the smartest move he may have ever made in joining with the best athlete from Calgary, Alberta, Canada!

Shawn comes down to the ring (with a new entrance theme) wearing a huge smile on his face, as commentary talk about what a coup it is for Stasiak to hook his wagon to a prime competitor such as Lance Storm! They also wonder if that means Stasiak has the backing of all the rest of Team Canada, because they know for a fact that Skipper and Awesome have not left the arena yet. Shawn really isn’t popular enough to hold up his end of this segment.

Sean O’Haire and Chuck Palumbo (not pictured in video) come to the ring with their semi-new Union Underground inspired theme, and they take a moment to stand at the top of the ramp and look down upon their opponents, as it doesn’t look like either of them ever expected Lance Storm. But given Storm is a bigger heel than both of them, they seem to be getting more cheers than before, so with that crowd reaction they rush the ring and start throwing punches at their new enemies! Going against a bigger time heel like Storm is the official face turn for O’Haire and Palumbo, who’s turns were a complete success and pretty well.

WCW World Tag Team Championships

The Natural Born Thrillers (Chuck Palumbo & Sean O’Haire) vs. “Perfect” Shawn Stasiak and Lance Storm

Announced Time Limit: 45:00

Official: Billy Silverman

Ringside: Major Gunns (Lance Storm)

In a very brisk start, O’Haire and Palumbo do a number on Stasiak and send him from the ring, but the match begins properly when Storm hits a superkick on both of them, one sending O’Haire from the ring to get the bell to sound. Palumbo is really off his game here, and unfortunately he’s in the ring with a consummate professional like Lance Storm which makes it seem more off than usual. Storm connects with a big leg lariat for a near fall, and he gets off a few illegal double team moves behind Billy Silverman’s back along with Stasiak, but Chuck moves out of the way of a charging “Perfect” Shawn and causes him to collide with Storm. That gives Palumbo a chance to tag in O’Haire, finally getting him into the ring with a big head of steam! He takes Stasiak down with a spin kick and power slam before lifting Storm with a military press slam! Major Gunns jumps up onto the apron as O’Haire goes for a Seanton Bomb, taking Sean away from the match and bringing Mike Awesome down to the ring. Stasiak pulls O’Haire away while Silverman is distracted, and Mike hits a running Awesome Bomb on Chuck Palumbo! As Shawn keeps Sean at bay by leading his hot-headed former stablemate on a chase up the ramp, Storm locks the Canadian Maple Leaf onto Palumbo, making sure to use his leg to block that it’s actually not the legal man in the hold, and the ruse works as Billy calls for the bell when Chuck taps out! This match really got the crowd buzzing, as we have new World Tag Team champions!

As the bell has sounded, Awesome and Skipper hit the ring, and it begins a four on two beating of the former champions! It definitely looks like Shawn Stasiak now has the full backup of Team Canada behind him, and on top of that he has gained the championships alongside Lance Storm! Despite Skipper’s “soft” offense looking out of place, Palumbo does some good selling here, looking good as they try to fight back, but it’s to no avail.

http://i.imgur.com/1pL4QTx.jpg

Charging out of the back, albeit with a prominent limp, comes Mark Jindrak, and despite commentary questioning him somewhat, he comes in and tackles Storm to the mat! However, that’s about as far as he makes it, his efforts in vain because now it’s still a four on three situation. The fans reacted pretty well to it though, as Jindrak is now a face along with his teammates. The numbers just don’t go in their favor whatsoever, and it ends with the Thrillers laying flat on the mat as Team Canada and Shawn Stasiak hold the World Tag Team championships above them!

“Mean” Gene is back behind the curtain with Totally Buff, Animal, and Madusa, who is hanging mostly off of Luger’s arm. Animal raves that for years he was one of the “Masters of the Midway” and the owner of the Chicago Street Fight, and now it’s time to show these young pups that the big bad dog isn’t about to just roll over and play dead! Luger and Bagwell add how they are out to cement themselves by forcing Goldberg to retire by defeating him tonight, as it’s time for him to leave this business its the next stars, Totally Buff!

Chicago Street Fight

Totally Buff and Animal vs. Goldberg and KroniK

Announced Time Limit: No Time Limit

Official: Scott James

Ringside: Madusa (Totally Buff, Animal)

If you’re looking for a catch-as-catch-can classic, you are in the wrong arena right now. These guys just brawl the night away, barely selling anything as they head all around the arena putting on a wild show for the audience. Goldberg really stands out here, putting on a great performance that sees him go toe-to-toe with Animal, who the Chicago crowd are always solidly behind. Tonight is no different, as he receives a smattering of cheers, but the UIC Pavilion is simply unglued for Goldberg. Kronik do most of the fighting with Totally Buff, as the three of them cycle in and out of the ring doing fairly generic punch and kick offensive moves on one another. The tide changes when a steel chair is introduced by Madusa, as Bagwell clubs Bryan Clark with it before choking him to the floor with a nearby camera cable. Totally Buff then double team Adams, putting him down to the mat with a Doomsday Device style Buff Blockbuster. Goldberg is just barely able to break up a three count that would have caused him to be forced out of WCW!

With Kronik mostly down and out, it becomes a four on one assault on Goldberg. Yes, even Madusa is getting a few licks in here and there, as she sneaks a few kicks in anytime “Da Man” is able to power everyone else away. Animal has his thick biker chain, and he gets as close a near fall as anyone may have ever gotten on Goldberg this year, as he had not only punched Goldberg with the chain wrapped around his fist but also choked him with it. Finally Goldberg is able to fight up, as even with the chain hanging around his neck he hits Luger and Bagwell with a double clothesline before forcing Animal down to the mat with a vicious powerslam! Madusa comes in with the chair, but Goldberg hits her with the Spear! She is taken completely out of the equation, just as Clark and Adams re-enter it. They deliver the High Times to Luger, just as Bagwell tastes the Spear. The pendulum has swung completely the other way now, as Goldberg uses the chain to knock Animal’s own lights out! With all the power he has, Goldberg then lifts Animal high into the air before driving him down with the Jackhammer! Scott James is right there, as Kronik and the crowd count the fatal one, two, three, finally giving Goldberg a big pinfall victory over the man who had hounded him for over a month.

Before our main event, we go to a video package that details the past month of “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner harassing The Insiders. It shows him working them against one another, and how it seemed as though it was working out for him, until he got too much Greed and attacked them both on this past Nitro. On Thunder, the Insiders turned the tables, delivering a two-on-one attack that left the champion out! Will tonight’s match be another two-on-one, or is Steiner correct that the egos just cannot coexist when the gold is on the line?

WCW World Heavyweight Championship – Triple Threat Match

“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner vs. “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Announced Time Limit: 60:00

Official: Nick Patrick

Ringside: Midajah (Scott Steiner)

The time for talk is over, as the three men (and a little lady) make their way to the ring. Commentary discuss how they’re pretty sure Rick Steiner will have no part in this bout, as he is back in the medical room following the match he had with Booker T earlier. On that note, they mention how Booker is not likely to be seen following that match either.

At the moment the bell sounds, “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” decides that he wants no part of this, sliding to the outside of the ring and leaving Nash and Page standing in the ring. Nick Patrick tells them that they have to lock up, as we need action, leading Mike Tenay to say that while he doesn’t agree with this tactic, Scott certainly seems to be onto something here. The Insiders are forced to lock up with one another, with “Big Sexy” getting the obvious advantage with his size. He forces Dallas back against the ropes, breaking cleanly. They lock up again, but this time DDP is able to put Nash into the turnbuckles by switching on him and using momentum against Nash. The two shake hands, as Scott screams out “This is a load of crap!” The two lock up with one another yet again, but it appears this time there’s a plan – Nash lifts Page up, and surprisingly throws him over the top rope, causing him to land directly on Scott Steiner!

They force the champion into the ring now, and what ensues is a complete two-on-one situation, and the crowd eats it up! They perhaps don’t eat it up as much as they should however, as a lot of them are already emotionally drained following the Chicago Street Fight. Page sends Steiner into the turnbuckles before whipping Nash in as well to deliver a big clothesline, Nash holds Steiner in place for DDP to hit a flurry of jabs, and they deliver a double vertical suplex that shakes the ring! The crowd are absolutely buzzing as they watch the Insiders decimate Scott Steiner, with the two of them laying back over him as Nick Patrick counts one, two…

But that’s where it all falls apart, as they both realize they are pinning him, but only one can win! So the former two-time World Tag Team champions shove one another away, and they begin arguing over who is going to pick up the win and the WCW championship! Scott rolls out toward the sound of Midajah calling to him, leaving the ring to catch a breather as Kevin and Dallas lock up again – but this time with more force, and there is definitely no handshake or clean break when Nash shoves Page into the turnbuckles! “The Big Bad Wolf” fires off a round of knees and framed elbow smashes that threaten to shatter the ribs and jaw of the man who was his partner and friend just eight minutes ago, but is now solidly his enemy. Tony Schiavone says that this is what happens with Greed, as Nash begins choking Page with his long, outstretched leg. Steiner sees an opening there, as Midajah jumps up onto the ring apron to distract Patrick, the champion enters the ring to deliver a low blow to Nash! He dumps Nash out of the ring, and delivers a belly to belly suplex to Page out of the corner, which scores him a near fall.

The next section of the match features Steiner working over Dallas in the ring with a variety of slams and suplexes while doing all he can to keep Nash out of the ring. He continuously knees him back to the floor anytime Kevin tries getting onto the apron, and at points when he feels Page isn’t going to disrupt him, he heads down to the floor to deliver some actual punishment. The match really starts to drift a little aimlessly, as the psychology starts to appear to be all over the place. After he hits a particularly nasty looking smash into the guardrail that sees Scott just driving Nash’s back into it, Steiner feels that he’s done with this bout and locks Page in the Steiner Recliner!

DDP may not exactly be widely known as “The People’s Champion” anymore, but the people still love him as they will him to find his way to the ropes or at least fight out of the hold, anything to keep him from giving up! “Big Poppa Pump” ripples every muscle he has in order to put as much pressure on the submission hold as his battered body will allow. In the background, we start to see Nash getting to his feet and onto the apron, but Midajah tries holding him back! She does anything she can, even jumping onto the seven footer’s back in order to grant Steiner every last second that he has to apply pressure to Page! Finally, Nash is able to get back into the ring, and he breaks the hold, but Scott Hudson starts wondering just how much that extended stay in the hold took out of Dallas.

Steiner now is forced to deal with Nash, but surprises everyone by popping Kevin to the mat with a big belly-to-belly suplex! Instead of capitalize, though, he starts doing push-ups! Tony says that he must be feeling pretty confident at this juncture to be that cocky right now. He drops an elbow onto Nash, laying on him to get another near fall. Page seems to stir a little, but Steiner goes over and stomps him back down to the mat. That confidence gets the better of the champion though, as he slaps Nash across the face, calling him “Kevin Trash” – and Nash fires back with a slew of forearms! Kevin sends Steiner into the ropes, and he comes back with a big sidewalk slam! Nash pulls the leg, after the punishment the champion has taken this could be it!

1!

2!

Page breaks it up!

DDP seemed to come out of nowhere for that save, nearly leaping over Nick Patrick in order to cause the separation. Nash takes offense to his friend costing him the championship, as he grabs Dallas by the face and shoves him into the turnbuckles. He tells Page to “Wait there!” as he drags Steiner off the mat. He fires Steiner into the opposite turnbuckle, and the Insiders look set to deliver another double team irish whip maneuver. Nash starts sending Page across the ring, but wait – Nash doesn’t let go, and he pulls Dallas into a forearm; no wait again, Page ducks it and turns Nash around into the Diamond Cutter! BANG out of nowhere! He goes for the quick cover!

1!

2!

NO, “Big Poppa Pump” makes the break this time! That one definitely could have been his title!

Steiner starts pulling Page to his feet, clearly pissed off that this match hasn’t gone his way entirely. He looks to set up another belly to belly suplex on him, but Page is able to escape Steiner’s grip by clapping his hands around Scott’s head, and then he lays the dazed champion out with a discus clothesline!

BUT LOOK OUT, Kevin Nash is on his feet, and as Dallas is rising off the mat, Nash nails Page with a knee lift to the stomach, before pulling him off the ground – he drills his partner down with the Jackknife Powerbomb! Dallas is sprawled out on the mat, flat on his back! Nash makes the cover, and commentary say that you could count to ten and this would be over…

Except Nick Patrick isn’t there to count! He is being held elsewhere by Midajah, not even having seen the Jackknife that did the damage. That’s the cue for “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” as he grabs up his lead pipe and jacks Nash in the back of the head with it! Steiner rolls a dazed Page over and hammers him in the back and ribs with the pipe, before throwing it back out of the ring.

While earlier in the match, the fans were cheering and clapping for Page to fight, when the Steiner Recliner goes on this time, there is no hope in Mudville. Dallas tries as hard as he can, but in the end, he passes out, Kevin Nash unable to make the save as he is left laying in the corner of the ring. It took Midajah and a piece of pipe to do it, but on this night, Scott Steiner showed the full extent of his Greed, and walked out still holding the World’s Heavyweight championship.

The sound of the sirens is cut off just as quickly as Scott Steiner’s in-ring celebration is, as “The Nature Boy” joins us in the arena! Flair applauds Steiner for making it through this match successfully, however…

“I watched the match in the back, and while I may not have clean hands as far as World title defenses go, I ain’t never had to resort to beating a man with a pipe! I ain’t never had to do it because ‘The Nature Boy’ walked this aisle each and every night, and no matter who I was in the ring with, we bled, we sweat, and we paid the price! And if sometimes JJ or Arn had to come in and stop the match, we did it, but we did it to your face, not behind your back like a snake in the grass!”

Scott is unimpressed with this, as he calls Ric a “senile old fool” and tells him to either get to the point or get out of his face. Flair is really improvising well in this segment though, as he struts around the top of the stage sending out a few “Woooo! Woooo! Woooo!” toward the crowd, who return in kind.

“In two weeks, pal, you’re gonna be forced to bleed, sweat, and pay the price. In two weeks, on March 26th, on the flagship Monday Nitro, we are going to have a Night of the Champions, where every title in WCW will be up for grabs – and the way this match went down, I’ve found the man who will be taking you on in that match.

“None other…. than the man who you had to bash over the head with a pipe in order to retain the belt here, ‘Big Sexy’ Kevin Nash!

“And this time, pal, there won’t be any funny business. Because in Panama City at the Boardwalk Beach Resort on the series finale of Nitro on TNT, we are going to erect a fifteen foot high steel cage, and you two are gonna be in it, for the Heavyweight title of the world! WOOOOOOOO!”

Scott is livid! His performance is good as he complains loudly about having to defend the title again so soon, and inside a steel cage!

Tony, Mike, and Scott recap some of the huge things we’ve seen happen tonight, such as our new Tag Team champions, Goldberg’s streak still being intact, and the series finale of Nitro on TNT featuring a big World Heavyweight title match, as Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash will battle inside a steel cage! The three openly talk about how they have no information about where WCW on pay-per-view is going from here, but tell fans to watch for news on WCW programming as well as checking on WCW.com for all the latest breaking information. But until then, this is goodnight everybody, and goodbye to Time Warner pay-per-view!

<p>Greed was a great show!</p><p> </p><p>

I liked the reveal of Kanyon as the mystery attacker and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with him because he's got all the potential in the world at this point. I'll also admit that I never in million years would have called Lance Storm as Stasiak's partner, and that duo as tag team champions is quite intruguing. I was a bit disappointed by the rating of the main event as I thought it should have gotten a better rating just off of pure star power alone. On the other hand the Chicago Street Fight scored a better rating than I would have expected, so that's something.</p><p> </p><p>

Oh and I loved Flair's announcement at the end. Steiner vs. Nash for the World Title in a Steel Cage? Yes please!</p>

He hadn’t even told any of the boys (except maybe Kevin and Kanyon, who had been working a few dark matches before Greed to make sure he didn’t have any ring rust) about his divorce. </p><p> </p><p> After Greed was over, I went into hype mode for some of our guys, just to ease them. I again pointed Flair out as being a great authority figure, as all his segments work out well. I also praised Scott Steiner and Goldberg for great performances. The three of them seemed pretty pleased, but in Goldberg’s case especially I would hope that all this praise I can give him will make him more agreeable to renegotiation if I were to bring it up to him. As for Flair, I just don’t want to lose him to the WWF. I would like to think that he bleeds WCW enough that he wouldn’t just jump on it, but he also doesn’t like me and would like to go back into the ring. I keep telling him that I have plans, but that’s all I can do.</p><p> </p><p> I recently signed a kid named Jeremy Borash to an active deal. He had been running errands and working with production here and there already, but I offered him to go on screen once the Turner deals were over. I gave him my idea for what to pitch him as initially, and he loved it. He loved it so much, that he has started showing up already to the backstage area, and he lightened everyone’s mood by making up some silly little game that ended up becoming pretty popular with the younger roster members. It looks like he may have been a good one to make happy already.</p><p> </p><p> Throughout the week, I noticed Paul Orndorff doing a good job with his former Power Plant students. He was seen showing Jindrak and O’Haire some pointers on psychology, while helping Jimmy Yang out with his microphone handling. Also, apparently Konnan has relocated completely across the country from Mexico to Massachusetts. I don’t really understand why so many of my wrestlers are making big moves like that, but I hope they don’t regret it when all of WCW’s assets are essentially moved to Las Vegas.</p><p> </p><p> I can’t be too disappointed with Greed’s buyrate; it wasn’t as good as SuperBrawl, but SuperBrawl is a show that we’ve had running for ten years. Fans expect more out of it based on name value alone. I know a lot of people are probably wondering why I’m going ahead with Russo’s “deadly sins” naming scheme for new pay-per-views, but I think it will help our brand look fresher. I ran a great ship and took this company to unparalleled highs a few years ago, but a lot of people will look only at our last year. If we use these new names, then it could help show that we are moving forward, not just coasting on our past successes.</p><p> </p><p> I’m still feeling the sting of losing Dallas though. But he’s kind of more than a little right, the more I’ve thought about it this evening. Without his $250,000 a month, I can afford to pay the younger guys more, and for that price I can probably bring in a few new ones as well. This could help us out a lot more than even he realized. In fact, once I get that money, I think I’m going to make a call to J-Marr and get a new title belt on order…</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>-----</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="OOC" data-cite="OOC" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Thanks for the comments!<p> </p><p> The only way I felt I could possibly have given it out that Storm could team with Stasiak was that I had him say for sure that Elix and Mike were taking on Dustin and Sid, because he had "other things" to take care of. But that's pretty vague, so I don't hold it against anyone to have overlooked that. Trust me, we are all going to see the megapush of Lance Storm happening very soon.</p><p> </p><p> As for Kanyon, I hope that I can do well with him because I agree that he had a lot of potential right about this time. How far can potential take someone though when there are all these other guys on their way up? That we shall see.</p><p> </p><p> Nitro in two weeks will feature Steiner vs. Nash (plus four other title matches) but Nitro tomorrow night features Disqo's self-help guru! <p>Losing DDP is a tough blow, but creatively, I don't know what else there's to do with him, outside of a funky heel turn with Nash(or something along those lines).</p><p> </p><p>

Nice Greed overall. I was a little happy to see Jarrett win a belt. Highlight to see was the Stasiak/Team Canada swerve. Nice idea to stop the NBT from simply dominating the tag scene.</p>

<p>Great show.....I really like the idea of Stasiak and Storm teaming up for some reason...team Perfect-storm.....Storm carries the in ring work while Stasiak adds a little charisma to Lance's promos. It's good to see Kanyon back too....it's a hell of a shame that the guy had such a chronic lisp....because just like Jack Swagger in later years, he's a terrific wrestler, but his talking lets him down....give him a mouthpiece and turn him into a silent assassin though and he'll be awesome. I'm probably one of the few people who actually likes the Franchise, so while it was good to see him retain the gold, he needs to move up to bigger and better titles before long. Steiner was a good pick to carry the world strap into the new era too. You've done such a good job building him up that his future programmes with Booker and inevitably Goldberg should be amazing. </p><p> </p><p>

As for Page, totally let him go....$250.000 a month? Holy s##t......and here was me worried when I had to pay Nash $60.000 a month to keep him out of Bischoffs hands.....he's right too, that's a hell of a lot of talent you can bring in for a quarter of a mil a month. Looking forward to where WCW goes in the post turner era</p>

Looking forward to where WCW goes in the post turner era</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> As January 2001's mod did back in TEW 2010 (ya know, the one this is mostly based on), this mod gives you a look at just how crazy Bischoff's spending was and how much it hurt WCW in the long run. It starts with 11 guys who are being paid way more than the game says they should be, with 10 of those being six digits. Three of those names are pulling in $300,000 a month!</p><p> </p><p> The breakdown is Goldberg, Sting, and Nash ($300k); DDP and Scott Steiner ($250k); Jeff Jarrett, Sid, and Lex Luger ($200k); Booker T and Buff Bagwell ($100k); and Dustin Rhodes ($50k).</p><p> </p><p> So yeah, my wage bills each month have been over $6 mil. No wonder Bischoff can't catch a break here on finances. And hence why he told Dallas that him paying out the rest of his contract will damn near cover a month's wages for everyone.</p><p> </p><p> When MrCreative was setting up this mod, he called it "Rock Hard Mode" for TEW. He wasn't lying, especially when I've given myself blocks (such as not allowing myself to sign any other TV or PPV deals, and not giving myself any extra money that I can't justify in-game) to force myself to stumble over. But with the end of the Turner era coming in the next two weeks, we'll see just how it goes when those blocks are off.</p>

Holy crap, talk about bleeding money! The most expensive guy on my roster is Booker T at slightly over $34K a month, and the next highest is Scott Steiner at $25K.

Losing DDP's wage is definitely worth it. I'd say NONE of those guys are worth what they're making, but obviously you aren't going to search for creative story reasons to drop them all and effectively gut your roster of stars. I'm not sure how you'll ever turn a profit until you're able to get out from under some of those deals though.

<p>WWF: March week 1</p><p> </p><p> Since this idea got a positive response, here is March week 1 from the WWF. The way I book these is Jakked/Raw and Heat/SD, the way the WWF was booking them in real life at this time. Jakked I treat like a half an hour show, while I do the full hour of Heat. However, since I didn't write down anything when I did these, the report is missing all the minor angles (videos, recaps, and people walking) that I had booked on the show because I had to get them from the in-game show history. Something else about this, I use the same arenas that the WWF booked for all of their shows. I'm not really sure why, I guess just since I'm not writing them out I just feel like it's a nice tidbit of realism. Let me know what you guys think of it! A few storylines definitely are the same type of route that the WWF took in real life, but I have quite a bit of variance in other cases. I will come back with week 2 later this weekend.</p><p> </p><p> Who knows, perhaps in time I'll add the WWF to prediction contests if I have a really big prize I want to give out to someone during a month! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/N5QIZGQ.jpg</span><p> Venue: MCI Center in Washington DC (Attendance: 18,030)</p><p> Broadcasters: Foxtel, Sky Sports 1, TNN, TSN</p><p> Rating: 15.04</p><p> Card Rating: B</p><p> </p><p> Triple H and Stephanie McMahon start the show with “The Game” bragging about how last night, he defeated the number one contender, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, in the Three Stages of Hell match, and that means he should go to WrestleMania for a World title match.
