<p>WWF Magazine: Royal Rumble Report</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/XzOHXDK.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/xjFVqY0.jpg</span><p> </p><p> The Christmas presents are all unwrapped and the New Year has begun, which means there’s only one thing left to be excited about in January: it’s time for the Royal Rumble!</p><p> </p><p> Leading up to the show, we had seen a lot of huge twists and turns. Mr. McMahon had practically gifted “Stone Cold” Steve Austin a WWF World Heavyweight championship match against champion Kurt Angle, but it proved to be another man’s trap as “The Cerebral Assassin” Triple H made his return after to heal up some nagging injuries for several weeks. He used the match to attack a weakened Austin, and on the following episode of SmackDown!, Mr. McMahon made Triple H the man who would face “The Olympic Hero” at the Royal Rumble with the championship on the line. And just to make sure Triple H and Austin didn’t maim one another until the show, if they so much as touched one another then Triple H would lose his title shot and Austin would be forced out of the Royal Rumble match! Austin and Triple H were also made tag team partners once in a match of mismatched partners to take on The Rock and Kurt Angle. This type of treatment led to a furious Austin going on a rampage by hitting anyone who got in his way with a Stunner, including Mr. McMahon, Kurt Angle, and The Rock! At the WWF Royal Rumble, Kurt Angle may have retained his championship gold, but it was not without assistance; “Stone Cold” came to the ring while referee Earl Hebner was incapacitated, and he laid a brutal assault on “The Game” en route to Angle rolling over him for the win. Kurt Angle moves on to a new challenger next month, but it looks like these two bitter rivals are primed to destroy one another!</p><p> </p><p> This year’s Royal Rumble match was completely up in the air, but a few big names definitely had their sights set on the victory. The Rock was looking to repeat his win from last year, men like Rikishi, The Undertaker, and Kane wanted their first victories, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin wanted to get back into position to win the WWF World Heavyweight championship that he feels he should still have. There were a few surprises, as the Honky Tonk Man, Big Show, and Haku all made big returns to the WWF to try and stake their claim at the main event of WrestleMania. No one could have seen the great run of Kane coming, however, as he single-handedly eliminated eleven men, lasting the longest in the entire match to go to the final elimination. That elimination happened at the hands of Steve Austin, who cemented his spot at WrestleMania 17! But with No Way Out looming in the future, who knows what could happen to Austin and Angle until then?</p><p> </p><p> Also on the show, The Dudley Boyz won the WWF World Tag Team championships from Edge and Christian. E&C had laid down a brutal attack on Bubba Ray and D-Von a week before the pay-per-view, which left a huge question mark about their condition. But one 3-D later, and we were looking at brand new champions!</p><p> </p><p> In one of the more scary moments of the evening, Chyna tried to come back from her horrific neck injury to take the WWF Women’s title away from Ivory. Chyna looked as though she was firing on all cylinders, until she suddenly dropped to the mat. With friend Billy Gunn looking on, Chyna was stretchered out of the building, her career even more in jeopardy than it was previously. Steven Richards and Ivory laughed maniacally, feeling as though they had won the war… and, unfortunately, for now they may have.</p><p> </p><p> The recent hostilities between Chris Benoit and “Y2J” Chris Jericho came to a head in a breath-taking ladder match for Benoit’s WWF Intercontinental championship. Jericho had been attacked by three of The Radicalz (Benoit, Malenko, and Saturn) within the previous seven days of the match, as they dropped a garage door on his ribs! But “Y2J” fought through it, finally achieving his goal of retrieving the title to begin his third reign with the belt!</p><p> </p><p> The next time that the WWF will be on pay-per-view will be on February 25th, 2001. One thing is for sure: the final stop on the road to WrestleMania is bound to be full of surprises! Be sure to tune in to WWF Raw is War and WWF SmackDown! to find out what all of your favorite – and least favorite – superstars will be fighting against when they have No Way Out!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>The Dudley Boyz defeated Edge & Christian for the WWF World Tag Team titles. Not a lot has changed in my booking compared to how it went in real life, because I haven't felt like I needed to change a whole lot. A few small details here and there I have changed up, but for the most part the stories have gone the same. But that should start to change until No Way Out, when I give you another update on how that shaped up and played out! Plus, the Rumble card was really short, only five matches. I'm not used to such a small PPV! I always struggle to only have eight or nine matches by PPV time!<p> </p><p> Thanks to everyone who have left some comments goes! I don't have a whole lot to discuss that I didn't talk about in Eric's wrap-up, but...</p><p> In this thread, TFC shows that he has a horrible memory... he literally was given the next title contender as a prediction prize for Sin <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I'm happy to see that the Insiders vs. Team Canada storyline has netted your interests. In a way, I set it up as a bit of a placeholder for both teams. However, I look to have some nice twists in it until I decide to close it out. As far as the overness gap, yeah, it's pretty big at this point. The most over member of Team Canada is Awesome with a C-, compared to Page and Nash with their B and B-, respectively. But I'm hoping that even if I don't get them big enough to actually win against the Insiders, it should at least help to close that gap, because I think Storm and Awesome are definite main event level guys, with Skipper able to hold his own in at least the midcard if I can build him up quickly enough. And plus, DDP was fairly willing to put O'Haire over at Sin, and he isn't much more over than Awesome is at this point. So don't be writing them off just yet, no matter how slyly Nash looks at the camera!</p><p> </p><p> Thanks Blody, hope you can catch up pretty quickly!</p><p> </p><p> Nitro should be posted this weekend. I'm hopeful that Thunder will follow directly. Life has been trying to keep me from doing things lately, but I'm not making excuses for my general laziness taking hold at inopportune times. So bear with me please, and I'll take you on a hell of a ride into February 2001!</p></div></blockquote>

He’s out to talk about his announcement as number one contender last week, stating that Scott Steiner has bragged a lot about how he and other wrestlers like Sting had walked away instead of facing him. That’s not true, Booker says; and he thinks Scott is going to find that they didn’t walk away, they simply stepped back to recover their energy for the next fight!</p><p> </p><p> He is interrupted by <strong>The Steiner Brothers</strong>, with Midajah strutting along behind the brothers carrying the WCW World Heavyweight title. “Big Poppa Pump” does all the talking, as he says Booker is full of crap! Scott says everyone has stepped aside because they’re afraid, not to recover, afraid because if they don’t heal up a few things, they know “Big Poppa Pump” is gonna rip off their sore limbs and beat them to death with the stumps! Steiner tells Booker that he will give him this one final chance to either walk away or fight, saying that if he’s so healed up then he should fight Rick tonight on Nitro! </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="200" height="113" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Q-BkQS8eYec?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/Q-BkQS8eYec?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> The idea of making a match brings out <strong>“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair</strong>, and the CEO of WCW marches quickly to the ring. He tells the Steiners and Booker that, unfortunately, as much as he’d love to see Booker kick the butt of both Steiner Brothers all over Winston-Salem, until he has doctor’s permission in his hand, he is not giving Booker a match on Nitro or Thunder. Just to clear this up for the internet fans who recap these shows, I made sure that Ric knew to add that Booker will be cleared by SuperBrawl on the 25th of February, but that it will not happen tonight. Booker argues that he feels ready to go, he’ll beat anyone who comes at him, but Flair will not budge. Steiner laughs, saying that if Booker is gonna hide behind paperwork like a little bitch, then maybe these other people who “haven’t walked out” like Scott thinks needs to show up. Steiner starts looking up in the rafters calling for Sting, but then says <em>“Of course there’s no Sting up there, you morons! He wouldn’t show up to face me again because I’d slap the paint off his ugly face!”</em> He says that Jeff Jarrett was smart enough to drop down and go after the US belt, because Scott has been done with that title and Jeff can go ahead and wear it. Steiner is really looking good in this segment, because he’s allowed to be as mean yet smug as he damn well pleases. <em>“There ain’t nobody left who wants a match with ‘Big Poppa Pump’!”</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="200" height="113" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bDkz4tD8-PQ?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/bDkz4tD8-PQ?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The crowd cheer big as the music of <strong>Sid Vicious</strong> cuts Scott off! Sid comes out, but man did I make a mistake here. Nobody else was being held to a script, and they all really enjoyed being free to just play off one another. And then there’s Sid. I really thought that he could just feed off of the energy that was already going strong, so I told him to just go talk.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><em>“Scott Steiner! Rick Steiner! You two are brothers! You should never have been trusted to fight one another, because all you did along with that little referee stunt was screw me from both sides!”</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> ….Oh God, Sid.</p><p> Flair jumps the gun on his big announcement, cutting Sid off thankfully. He says that he has a huge main event here for this sold out crowd to enjoy: a fatal four way tag team match featuring The Steiner Brothers, Sid is allowed to find a partner and compete, and two teams who he will fill out through the rest of the show. And the winner will get a World Heavyweight title match next week in Baltimore, Maryland on Monday Nitro! Despite Sid and some weak commentary, this segment definitely got the crowd red hot and the show off to a really strong start.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: B+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Right before a commercial break, we go backstage to see that <strong>Goldberg</strong> has arrived, braving the January weather to ride in on his favorite motorcycle! He parks it in the parking garage and heads into the building, as Tony and Scott talk about how he is here to watch Kronik’s back against Totally Buff later tonight. A short segment that got across all it needed to for now.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: B</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Backstage, we have <strong>“The Franchise” Shane Douglas</strong> along with <strong>Crowbar</strong>. Douglas seems to be giving some pointers to Crowbar about how to not just be hardcore, but be <em>“smart enough to not just be hardcore”</em>. Daffney skips past <strong>The Mamalukes</strong>, who are preparing for their upcoming match. She takes Johnny’s fedora hat from next to him, putting it on and saying <em>“Look at me, look at me, I’m a douchebag from the future!”</em> Johnny and Vito try to take it back from her, when Crowbar gets after them to break things up. Douglas tells Crowbar that this is the type of “hardcore people” he’s talking about, who will never be anything once you aren’t in a hardcore match. <em>“As soon as you can’t just swing sticks and chairs around, you become a loser like these two!”</em> Security come around to tell the Mamalukes that their match is ready, and they leave – but not without a few hand gestures toward Douglas. Ill be the first to admit that this was a pretty minor setup, but it set a seed up with a small confrontation.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: D</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>WCW World Tag Team Championships</strong></p><p><strong> Chuck Palumbo & Sean O’Haire vs. The Mamalukes</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> That seed is paid off during this match. It should’ve been no surprise that this is a successful title defense for the Thrillers, but the surprise was that Shane Douglas came down to ringside to hit Vito with the Hardcore title, leading right into the Seanton Bomb. We had them go out there to calm the crowd down some, and that was a success; the part that was not as successful is the negative reaction that seems to follow Vito and Johnny around. The fans can just recognize that they aren’t the best in the ring, and they let them have it in each and every city. Hopefully that will get better as time goes on, because they make a solid team with good experience together.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Match Time: 6:13</em></p><p><em> Rating: C-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> After a brief commercial break, the entirety of <strong>The Natural Born Thrillers</strong> are seen backstage. Mike Sanders does the talking while the rest of the Thrillers just stand at his back. Sanders says that since the Insiders unsuccessfully used up their rematch clause last week, that means we need some new contenders for the World Tag Team championships. He says that the past few champions have all been big, bad, musclebound beasts such as Sean O’Haire, Chuck Palumbo, and Mark Jindrak – so maybe it’s time to give some smaller guys their shot. Mike says that on Thunder, there will be a match between the Jung Dragons and the Filthy Animals, and the winners will get their shot at SuperBrawl! O’Haire makes a crushing motion with his hands as he laughs about facing these smaller wrestlers. I don’t know about giving him a microphone, but he really comes off good when he’s being menacing.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> We see Ric Flair’s office door (helpfully marked as “CEO Nature Boss”) where <strong>Team Canada</strong> are coming out of the room. Noticing the camera, Lance Storm takes a moment to ask to be serious for a minute. He says that he just discussed a few things with Flair, and he made him see things his way on a few things. Namely, the main event tonight. Elix says that it’s gonna be prime time, baby, prime time for Team Canada! Storm says that he and Mike Awesome are going to be joining the bout as one of the four tag teams… but Flair only did so because he felt he wanted to add the Insiders as well. Elix makes an angry noise, as Gunns adds that Page and Nash may only get added to the match if they make it there. Lance closes by saying that if something were to potentially happen, they shouldn’t blame Team Canada; they should blame themselves. A solid promo from Storm, even if he did seem to underperform while talking about all the bigger names. Skipper just looked lost though. We’re working on that.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C+</em></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Mean” Gene Okerlund is backstage in the interview area along with <strong>Jeff Jarrett</strong> and <strong>The Harris Brothers</strong>. “The Chosen One” calls Gene a “follically-challenged slapnut” before telling Big Ron and Heavy D that they had better do what he wants them to do tonight and beat the crap out of the Misfits in Action so that he can take the US title so he can show “slappy Flair” beyond a shadow of a doubt that he should still be “The Chosen One”. I won’t disagree that Jeff is probably carrying this feud for the most part, but he’s doing it well.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Backstage, we are in the parking garage as it appears <strong>Norman Smiley</strong> is pacing around. He’s talking to himself to get some thoughts together, trying to make sure things will be perfect once Glacier arrives to see him.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: D</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Evan Karagias and Jamie Knoble vs. The Jung Dragons w/Leia Meow</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Tony and Scott spend a good bit of this match talking about the Dragons likely wanting to get some momentum up to head into their number one contenders match on Thunder against the Filthy Animals. Kaz and Yang do a number on their former partner, Knoble, as they also talk about Mark Johnson being the official for this match. Tony says that perhaps that means Johnson really is an instated official in WCW. It is noted that Karagias hadn’t been in the ring yet, right about the time that Knoble goes for a tag, but Evan drops off the ring apron and walks away from the ring! With no one to tag, Jamie gets double teamed and put away by Kaz after a diving leg drop/splash combination. The match was hurt because Jamie went it alone, but Evan’s turn went pretty well.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Match Time: 4:21</em></p><p><em> Rating: D</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> As the Dragons leave the ring victorious, Karagias goes after Knoble. Surprisingly, he gets joined by <strong>Shannon Moore</strong>, as the two stomp on Knoble. Out to the ring rushes <strong>“Sugar” Shane Helms</strong> to help, but Moore goes under the ring and finds one of the old green discs that 3 Count used to dance on and uses it to hit Helms with. Karagias and Moore stand tall, it looks as though two-thirds of 3 Count are back together now!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: D+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> After that, we go to a more solid team in <strong>The Insiders</strong>. Both Nash and Page come to the ring amid some nice cheers, but the crowd seems to doze off a little when they spend time talking about Team Canada. Kev actually seems to forget the name of “that third one” but overall both men improvise well. Nash talks about how he had no problem sharing space with Mike Awesome, but now it looks like “Big Sexy” is gonna have to show who the real master of the powerbomb is around here. Dallas says that they better not get too comfortable in the main event with them tonight, because by the time the Insiders are done, none of Team Canada will want to show their faces in WCW again! Page says that they can’t hurt the pride of the Insiders, they can’t hurt the respect that the people show the Insiders, and they won’t hurt the legacy of Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page because they’re going to feel the BANG!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> We are joined in the ring by <strong>Totally Buff</strong> and <strong>Animal</strong>, with <strong>Madusa</strong> on Luger’s arm. She does manage both Lex and Buff, but we’ve found that sometimes we need her to chime in more on Lex than Marc. All three got some microphone time here, with Bagwell and Luger agreeing with one another that “a couple muscle-fueled punks for hire” like Kronik aren’t fit to put oil on Totally Buff’s muscles, let alone face them in the ring. Animal talks about Goldberg, saying that for years he had to listen to people compare Goldberg to the Road Warriors because they were big, dominant men who made their name not wrestling, just getting in the ring to beat people up. </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><em>“I got tired of hearing it! He tells Animal that he never got into this business wanting to be a Road Warrior, that before he was even in wrestling, he just barely knew who they were! Goldberg says that he went to Animal because he had found out about them during his years in the business and decided that he would show them some respect. </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><em>“But I guess Hawk and Paul really were the brains of the outfit, aren’t they? Adams and Clark rush the ring, and our next match starts once the extraneous people leave the ring. Madusa’s presence really did well for Lex and Animal here, but no heel color commentator hurt this angle because there was no voice to side with Animal. Goldberg looked like a real star though, and the crowd were boiling hot as soon as Goldberg’s entrance music hit.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: B-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Buff Bagwell w/Madusa, Lex Luger, and Animal vs. Bryan Clark w/Brian Adams</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> I’m just glad I planned ahead and told these guys to just calm the crowd back down here. We once again could have done better with a strong color commentator, but as a match of mostly punches and kicks, this did alright for itself. Adams at ringside kept the outside interference to a minimum, and the crowd were surprised to see Clark catch Bagwell as he went for the Blockbuster to turn it into a spinebuster! Clark then pulled Buff off the mat to hit the Meltdown and pick up the completely clean victory!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Match Time: 6:13</em></p><p><em> Rating: C</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> <strong>Sid Vicious</strong> is in his standard dark room interview, where he laughs about Scott Steiner thinking that Sid would ever walk away from fighting him. He says that one day, one day very soon, there will be no brothers, there will be no crooked referees like Mark Johnson, and on that day we will see who is the master and ruler of the world. Very strong promo from Sid actually, he justified some of the faith that I lost in him earlier tonight.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: B-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Kevin Nash is seen backstage getting a drink from a vending machine. That isn’t really the best setup, but it does what it needed to do. It took Nash’s eyes off the ball so that Mike Awesome could attack him from behind, slamming him into the machine before Storm and Skipper join in on the attack. Elix’s bad performance makes sense here, because he looks like a kid compared to Nash, so him stomping on him just looks silly. Awesome bashes Kevin’s knee with a chair, before Storm pulls up on Nash’s leg into the Maple Leaf single leg crab. They leave the scene as officials and security come rushing in to break it up, with Kevin left on the ground holding his leg.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Out to the ring comes <strong>Ernest “The Cat” Miller</strong>, who tells <strong>Ms. Jones</strong> that she had better call his mama because he has something to say. He barely gets the words out until he is joined by <strong>Mike Sanders</strong> who tells Miller that he knows exactly what he’s out here for, to challenge Sanders to put the commissioner powers on the line in a match. Sanders actually agrees to this – but draws boos when he tells Cat that he will only sign the match if “the services of Ms. Jones” are on the line as well! Sid tells him that he needs someone like him in his corner, tonight, in the fatal four way tag team match! Sid psyches Miller up, who starts dancing at the idea of winning a World title shot. The commissioner is not in the mood, saying that he already saw Chuck and Sean wrestle, so Norman and Glacier had better get into gear because in a little bit they’ll be wrestling Jindrak and Stasiak! The announcing actually did well to lift this match, as Tony and Scott did a good job of talking about the six man tag team match featuring these four guys at SuperBrawl. Despite Hudson looking for Jarrett to make himself known, it’s actually Chavo Guerrero Jr. who leaves a mark on this match, as he aimed at Ron but ended up hitting Cajun with the Cruiserweight title! That led directly into Lash getting planted with the H-Bomb and the pinfall.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Match Time: 4:29</em></p><p><em> Rating: D+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> After a commercial break, General Rection and Corporal Cajun are backstage with Gene Okerlund. Cajun doesn’t have a lot to say because he’s still selling the title he took to the head and the H-Bomb, but Chavo comes into the frame. He says that it won’t matter that they lost tonight, because on Thunder, Chavo will be facing Jeff Jarrett, and he’ll make up for the loss! Bagwell and Luger lay Kronik out by slamming them against the walls and smacking their heads into tables. WCW Security are pretty busy tonight as they have to break this one up before there’s any serious damage. So this match seemed out of place as a result, but it was only meant to be short anyways. Norman fights well here, taking down Jindrak and almost using the Big Wiggle to him, but he ends up doing it to Stasiak to a cheer from the crowd. Smiley starts to get beaten on by the Thrillers, when Glacier comes into the ring! He gives a bunch of martial arts moves and kicks – but he catches Smiley with one of the kicks! Hudson wonders if that was an accident or not, and the announcing of what happened does more for the match than the actual match does. Shawn heaves Smiley over with a fireman’s carry, but he falls to the mat holding his shoulder. Jindrak finishes the match with a springboard clothesline by pinning Norman. Later on, the medical team let me know that Shawn had broken his collar bone out there. That doesn’t blow up any of my plans, but we’ll see if he’ll be out or not.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Match Time: 3:04</em></p><p><em> Rating: D</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> The Steiner Brothers are out first, with Scott grabbing a microphone. Midajah holds the title for him as he says that it’s the golden hour when “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” would rather be showing his freaks his peaks, but instead he’s out here in front of the geeks. Steiner says that if Booker isn’t ready to fight, then he should’ve stayed on the shelf that Steiner threw him on. Scott saw Nash go down, so it looks like “Mr. Kimberly” doesn’t have a partner – so why doesn’t Booker step in there?! Steiner says that Booker is too afraid to face Scott Steiner again and that’s why he won’t wrestle until next month. <em>“Come on, Booker, fight us! Fight us!”</em> Scott really enjoyed not having a script here.</p><p> </p><p> Booker T’s theme does hit, and he comes out – but he isn’t in wrestling gear, as Ric Flair walks out next to him. Booker says that there is one strand of red tape standing in his way, and that is Ric Flair – who has told him that he’s going to be sitting in on commentary tonight instead of being able to kick Scott’s punk ass! Flair tells Steiner not to worry about Dallas Page though, because he personally assigned DDP a partner tonight since Kevin Nash is unable to perform. Both Booker and Flair really stirred the crowd with their improvised dialogue, especially when Booker gave Ric dirty looks to show that it isn’t his decision that he isn’t in this match. Flair plays off of the situation though, saying that this is a partner who should be to Steiner’s liking for this match… </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="200" height="113" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/M9udAirjw3U?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/M9udAirjw3U?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The crowd literally comes unglued! He had the stand out performance of this match, if I were to grade everyone I’d say he really gave it his 100%. The opposite force of that was actually Miller; I know, I’d have thought it’d have been Sid, too. “The Cat” was really the weak link here, as his goofy dancing didn’t play well with the nature of the other competitors. We actually had a color commentator for this match, but Booker came off weakly as he only seemed to be talking about Scott. I will give it to Rick and Scott because even through all the years, all the gimmick changes, all the different title runs, they still have great chemistry teaming with one another. Ms. Jones did some good work cheering on “The Cat” at ringside, but her job was to start the closing sequence as Mike Sanders comes to the ring to try dragging her backstage. Miller gives chase, leaving Sid without a partner. Nick Patrick goes down due to a clothesline from Awesome that was aiming for Page, and so Mark Johnson comes out to try and take over the match – but as soon as Sid sees him, he gives chase. That’s one whole team away from the match now. Tony mentions that he heard something is happening backstage, but that this is way too important to go away from. The Steiners are able to work Goldberg to the mat where Scott locks in the Steiner Recliner, as Hudson talks about how if Goldberg submits, not only is he out of this match but his streak ends and he must retire! </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="50" height="50" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0bmntVNPGzI?rel=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/0bmntVNPGzI?rel=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Booker T’s theme starts playing, prompting him to stand up at the announce table! Scott stops applying so much pressure on the Recliner as he turns to look at the entrance ramp. But Booker doesn’t leave the booth – instead, Stevie Ray walks to the top of the aisle! The distraction leads to an angry Scott, who tells Rick to go take care of that, but once Rick leaves the ring, Scott isn’t angry for long. Goldberg is starting to fight up from the hold, as Steiner gets <em>HIT WITH THE DIAMOND CUTTER!</em> DDP rolls the World champion over quickly, and Nick Patrick comes alive enough to count the one, the two, and the three!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Match Time: 11:28</em></p><p><em> Rating: C+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We then see the footage from during the match, which sees Totally Buff and Animal out in the parking garage – and Animal kicks over Goldberg’s motorcycle! Buff, Luger, and Madusa are cheering Animal on as he destroys the machine.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: B-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Back in the arena though, Goldberg is unaware of this. He knows that he won the match but did not win the World title shot, and he leaves looking disappointed. Booker T steps into the aisle as Dallas stops halfway up it. The champion starts coming to in the ring, and DDP is very literally standing in between the number one contender Booker T and the World champion Scott Steiner! I yell at Tony in his headset to make sure that metaphor gets driven home, that DDP stands before Booker T because he is getting next week’s shot against Steiner. Ric Flair comes back out with a microphone, doing his strutting and dancing as he officially announces the championship match set up for next week on Monday Nitro! Flair’s masterful delivery really made him look good here as he tells Booker that he may get the shot at SuperBrawl: Revenge, but which of these men will it be against?! Wow, way to walk into a blindingly obvious trap, Booker, ya moron. :D

“The Professor” introduces our next SuperBrawl Series video, which goes back to the first SuperBrawl where The Steiner Brothers faced Sting and Lex Luger. The match is played in full. (B-)

I remembered loving this match as a kid, so right after your post jarred my memory I went back and watched it again on the Network. Still a really fun match even if the finish was lame.

Just caught back up (rough two weeks IRL) and I have to say the Team Canada/Insiders feud is really intriguing, especially all the mystery partners for the inevitable Nash return and triumph. I do have to wonder though, is this related to Nash not wanting to do the job?

This time we had a few pretty good decisions made, I think. One of the bigger things was that we brought Dustin Rhodes back to television, working as a partner along with DDP. I did that to play off Page’s real life friendship to Dusty. We also wrote off Stevie Ray for the time being, because I couldn’t stand hearing him drag down every segment he was commentating on anymore. Plans are in place to get a solid color commentator pretty directly. Booker T told me at the beginning of the month that he feels ready to get back into the ring, but I still plan on keeping him out of the ring for at least most of the month, playing off the attack he suffered on Thunder. He will be on air, just not wrestling until SuperBrawl. In good news, I don’t plan on having any matches featuring surprise wrestlers at SuperBrawl; I think that gimmick is played pretty thin at this point. While I feel that it is still useful on television like how we brought Dustin back, if we use it too often then it will just ruin the idea of a surprise. At this point, I have three weeks to button up booking of six more matches, so that will be pretty easy to handle for such a forward thinking, award winning writer like myself.</p><p> </p><p> “The signing of Harley Race has paid immediate dividends. Goldberg was backstage at Nitro telling people that he refused to join guys like Norman Smiley, Evan Karagias, Shane Helms, and their like – the mid and lower card type of guys – for a few drinks after the show. “Handsome Harley” jumped him about it, telling Bill in no uncertain terms that he needs to remember that he’s got less years in the sport than they do even if he has more World titles, and that he would not only join them but pay their entire tab. Reports of Goldberg having no respect must not be completely true, because not only did he do it but he seemed to have a better behavior after the talking-to. Tully Blanchard mentioned to me that he felt Mark Jindrak is going to be a star and needs pushed hard. Scott Steiner was far less flattering to the Thrillers however, when he said that Shawn Stasiak wouldn’t know charisma if he found it in a paper bag, saying he should be fired so I can hire someone better. But that isn’t the worst of Shawn’s news at the moment, as he suffered a broken collar bone, and he’ll be out of the ring for nearly all of February. After Thunder, I had more visitors. One from Booker T, who said that he didn’t think Big Ron needs to learn how to work because he can’t sell worth a damn. I took it into consideration, but at the same time, he’s already been showing that he’s on the down side of his in-ring career; nobody is going to teach him anything now. Dustin Rhodes, on his first day “officially” back on the roster, decided to let me know that Lash LeRoux doesn’t get “it” and should be cut loose. That one I could take into account, because if there’s any people out there who understand what “it” is like, it’s a Rhodes. Scott Steiner said in no uncertain terms that I could just drop Jimmy Yang because he has no charisma, and that sentiment was surprisingly shared by Goldberg. He said that Jimmy just doesn’t connect with fans.</p><p> </p><p> “I did it again, getting two guys talking and forming a more permanent bond. This time it was with the Filthy Animals team of Rey and Billy. Their newfound strong friendship should not only help my backstage from potentially being chaotic, but maybe it’ll even keep them looking out for one another better during their tag matches.</p><p> </p><p> “Buff didn’t want to put Bryan Clark over cleanly like I had wanted, but while he was complaining he saw both Adams and Clark standing by with an increasingly intimidating look on their faces. He quickly quieted down and did what was asked of him.</p><p> </p><p> “On Thunder, good news came from the strangest places. Kwee Wee showed off a brand new “hope spot” during his squash match against Animal, some sort of rebounding clothesline off the ropes. In the right hands, a move like that could get over, but I doubt he’ll do much with it.</p><p> </p><p> “Our ratings came in this week, and it was about as well as usual. Even when not going against Raw, we drew a 2.40 rating on TNT. Which, granted, is slightly higher than it was the week before and the week before, but we are growing that number only by inches rather than yards. But when the ratings for Raw look like 14.84 because they added together the ratings from TNN, TSN, Sky Sports, and Foxtel, it doesn’t look good. Thunder then drew a 2.06 rating on TBS, with Worldwide getting a </p><p> </p><p> “While I know I’m supposed to try saving money, I felt that Glacier needed some more time with us, so I extended his contract. He is still splitting time between us and Dusty’s TCW, but I did get him talked down by almost $200 per appearance… so I’ll take what I can get there. But I do need to save money; which was why I didn’t offer a new contract to Meng, who immediately jumped at the WWF’s offer to be Haku again and feud with Undertaker and Kane. I also didn’t offer a new deal out for Terry Funk. I feel bad letting such a legendary veteran go, but I saw little use in keeping him around in this particular moment. There are definitely no hard feelings about it for now, and I would be happy to bring him back once we are a little more stable.</p><p> </p><p> “Something I decided to do was take a closer look at our merchandise. I’m not sure how much it will save us on money by the end of the month to cut out a lot of our merchandising and only produce merch for the people who sell the absolute best, but it’s worth a shot. I think once I get out of our Turner deals, we may actually start making some better headway, because we are getting nowhere with our television and pay-per-view deals right now. I think when I have us all on our own, out from under the umbrella one hundred percent, then I can cut some deals all over the world that will get our name out there like it’s 1997 all over again. Right before the end of January, I brokered a deal that sold off the entirety of the WCW Power Plant. As sad as it was to close the doors, it gained us a little over $300,000 to help out this month… which was not going to be a good month financially no matter what. I knew that going in. Hopefully we can manage to make back what all we have lost in the future, and more… but at this point, I’m not sure how long that may take. All of those big money contracts that I signed people to in the past are coming back to bite me in the ass, and hard. I guess this is karma coming back to get me after all.</p><p> </p><p> “Almost time to go live. With Dallas in our first main event of the month, we are ready to begin February with a bang.</p><p> </p><p> “That was a horrible joke, and I should never tell it again.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/0Lh9W8w.png</span></div><p></p><p></p>

Flair says that he has barred Rick Steiner from the building tonight, but Scott will be defending his title against Diamond Dallas Page, who won the title shot last week. “Big Poppa Pump” comes out at that, getting in the ring with Flair to get right in his face. Steiner says that Flair needs to quit being a “jealous old yellow toothed bastard” and learn what all his freaks already know: “That nothing can be finer, than Scott Steiner, so come take a ride, in the Steiner Recliner!” Scott says that the way Ric was protecting Booker T, now he gave Ric a reason to protect him – but there’s no way Booker will be able to wrestle at SuperBrawl now! Flair tells Steiner not to be so sure – and out from the back comes Booker T! He has his arm in a sling, but he tells Steiner that as mad as he is, he would take Scott on right now with only one hand! Steiner tells Booker to bring that one hand down here and Scott will stick it straight up Booker’s ass! But as Booker starts looking like he’s gonna head to the ring, <div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/erD2n2NJMtM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="WCW DDP 5th Theme(With Custom Tron)"></iframe></div></div> blares over the arena to bring out Diamond Dallas Page! Page tells Booker not to worry about “Big Poppa Chump” because he’ll get all the revenge on him that he needs; and then Dallas will promise Booker the first shot at the NEW four-time, four-time, four-time, four-time WCW World Heavyweight champion! Steiner meanwhile promises that he’s gonna break “Mr. Kimberly” in half backwards tonight, and then bend Kim forwards and make her his freak to follow him around like Midajah! Dallas tells Steiner that no, no, no, it won’t be he or Kim, tonight it’ll be “Big Poppa Scum” who feels the bang! (A) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Steiner’s performance was good, with him really enjoying the freedom to not be scripted. Page had some masterful crowd interactions, getting them to chant along with each of his catchphrases. Tony and Scott came off pretty weak on commentary, but overall this angle got the crowd a lot hotter and started the show off to a strong start.</em></span><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> We take a look backstage, and who is walking into the building? It’s Goldberg! “Da Man” is here tonight on Nitro! (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>The segment was short but established what it needed.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Evan Karagias is out for our opening match, but as he poses on his green circle, his opponent “Sugar” Shane Helms rushes in and attacks from behind, spinning him upside down and back-to-back to drill him down onto the mat neck first! Helms rolls back and picks up a shockingly fast victory at only 38 seconds! (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>This cooled the crowd successfully… will make some notes about it in Eric’s weekly wrap-up.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Mean” Gene appears backstage alongside “The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett and The Harris Brothers. Okerlund asks them for some words before the upcoming match between the Harrises and the Misfits in Action. Jeff tells “geriatric slapnut” to stop asking such stupid questions; it’s obvious that his boys will beat them so badly that Rection will be forced to limply hand him the US title. Jarrett calls out that he’ll be there too, in case he needs to provide a little “equalizer” in the match – but that’s when Ric Flair happens past! Flair tells Jeff that he will indeed not be at ringside, and if he does show up at ringside then he will be suspended for at least sixty days! Okerlund revels in this, as Flair tells Ron and D to head for the ring! Flair tells Jarrett that he’s heard him talking about showing Ric how much he is “The Chosen One” by taking the US title, so Flair says that he’s watching – show him something, already; Woooo! © <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Gene really enjoyed the freedom of being unscripted, while Flair and Jarrett were masterful playing off one another.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Chavo Guerrero Jr. comes out to join commentary as General Rection and Corporal Cajun of the Misfits in Action take on The Harris Brothers. Guerrero denies ever having left the Misfits fully, saying that any other words as such are just propaganda and lies. Big Ron and Heavy D show their stuff well here, looking like they’re about to pick up the win by dropping Lash with the H-Bomb, but Chavo gets up and hits Ron with the Cruiserweight title belt! Not having seen what happened, Hugh just sees Ron down so he goes up top and performs the No Laughing Matter moonsault to pick up the win at 3:43! (D+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Hugh was head and shoulders above everyone else’s performance in this match. Chavo’s commentary came off as pretty weak.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Cameras are roaming backstage when they catch Scott Steiner. The champion is heading for a door, and when he opens it, in walks his brother Rick! However, he’s caught by Ric Flair, who comes along with Arn Anderson, Paul Orndorff, and Tully Blanchard! It becomes a screaming match as the Steiners nearly come to blows with the CEO and the agents! It evens out to Blanchard getting in an argument with Scott before Orndorff and Anderson are able to force Rick back out of the building, leaving him barred! Flair ends up having to get in between Scott and Tully then, as Scott leaves the scene in a huff and his friends are left to calm Tully down. (B+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Scott and Ric were masterful in this, playing off one another well. Tully improvised well also. However, Blanchard looked lost, while Scott looked good and Flair came across well.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> We don’t see Fit Finlay very often on-screen, but he’s here to take on Sid Vicious tonight. Billy Silverman gets distracted off by a rowdy fan in the front row, when Mark Johnson slips into the ring to try and cheat Sid by giving Finlay a fast count on a roll-up! But Sid kicks out, and he chases Johnson out of the ring before coming back and delivering a Powerbomb to Finlay! Vicious picks up the win at 6:29, but he continues to be plagued by Mark Johnson and his screwy refereeing. © <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>The two didn’t click at all. The match played up the brawling tactics of the two, and Finlay was well suited to it.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> The crowd goes crazy as Goldberg enters the ring! He gets a microphone before his match, which doesn’t happen often. He starts off by saying that Scott Steiner continues to be on borrowed time, because he would be facing him tonight had Page not been in his way last week. He adds that if Dallas wins the title, then he expects a title shot to be granted to him because otherwise Page can’t look himself in the mirror and call himself a real people’s champion. Goldberg then turns to Animal and Totally Buff, who destroyed his motorcycle last Nitro. He says that the repairs he has to do to fix his bike won’t be anything compared to the doctor’s bills that he’s going to give them, because they’re all next! (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Goldberg was all over the place, struggling with being unscripted.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> “Das Wunderkind” is a lamb led to the slaughter here as Alex Wright comes out to face Goldberg. Wright uses some “stick and move” strategy to keep Goldberg guessing for a few moments, but the Spear and Jackhammer finish this one in a mere 1:47. (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>This match played out as a crazy brawl to showcase Goldberg the best, but Alex didn’t do well in it. But Goldberg’s performance stood out as being good, so that was successful.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Goldberg is celebrating his 38th victory in a row, when he gets attacked from out of the crowd by Animal! Animal assaults Goldberg with the same heavy chain that he used on Goldberg’s motorcycle last week, attacking his ribs and neck with it! Schiavone and Hudson scream for help, with WCW Security finally coming out to pull Animal away. Trainers try to get Goldberg on a stretcher, but he refuses, trying to get up and fight but continually falling down in dizziness. (A) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Tony and Scott were pretty weak during this. This angle definitely got the crowd hotter, and Goldberg came across well.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> After a commercial break, “The Total Package” Lex Luger comes out with Madusa. He gets on a microphone to laugh at Goldberg, picking on him for how he kept trying to get up but couldn’t. </p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/jObCu4j4ax0?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="WcW - Ernest"></iframe></div></div> cuts him off from talking any more as Ernest “The Cat” Miller and Ms. Jones comes out! Miller tells Luger that he needs to shut the hell up because nobody wants to see his freaky body out here not being able to move and looking all box-y. Luger says that everyone wants to see “The Total Package” and flexes as Madusa applies some oil to his biceps. The Cat rolls his eyes, saying that if he can’t move, he isn’t worth taking up anymore time. Mike Sanders comes to the top of the aisle, saying that it looks to him like “The Cat” needs something to do with his time, so he books a match between Ernest Miller and Lex Luger, right now! And he’s going to sit right here on commentary to make sure it all goes smoothly! (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Madusa and Jones helped their respective clients in this segment. Luger looked good, but Sanders performed poorly.</em></span><p> </p><p> The match begins immediately as the WCW Commissioner joins Tony and Scott. “The Cat” uses his martial arts skills to stay ahead of Luger. But when he starts setting up the Feliner kick, Madusa grabs his foot, leading to “The Total Package” rushing him to nail a forearm smash on Miller using the arm that has the steel plate in it! Ernest is done, but Lex still lifts him up to apply the Torture Rack. Sanders says that everything in the match checked out by him as the bout is called at 5:03. (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Sanders was pretty weak on commentary. The women did good work at ringside, but Luger seemed a little off his game. This match succeeded at cooling the crowd.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> “Above Average” leaves the commentary booth to get on a microphone. He says that it looks like we have “a cat who needs spayed” out there, which is when Buff Bagwell joins in the ring. Totally Buff start beating on Miller, with Hudson saying that he’s betting there’ll be a huge bonus check in their mailboxes if they take out Ernest before SuperBrawl! But help comes in the form of Kronik, who rush the ring and fight off Luger and Bagwell to send them out of the ring! They help “The Cat” to his feet as Sanders and Totally Buff look upset at the top of the aisle! (C+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>This segment deserved better color commentary, but it got the crowd hotter. Miller was very underwhelming, while Luger looked excellent.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> A short video replays last week’s main event, as Diamond Dallas Page pins Scott Steiner with the Diamond Cutter to earn tonight’s World Heavyweight championship match! (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Short video segment seems short.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Dallas is backstage taping up his fists when into the room walks Kevin Nash and Dustin Rhodes. Both men wish Page luck in his match tonight, as does Norman Smiley. But the mood changes when Booker T enters the room. The tense atmosphere changes when Booker shakes Page’s hand, saying that he wants that shot that Dallas promised him at the start of the show. But that atmosphere goes right back to tense as Team Canada enter the room! Lance Storm tells the Insiders that he isn’t here to fight them – he does want to wish Page luck tonight, because if he were to somehow win the World title, then he would be a much easier target for either himself or Awesome to take the title from than what Scott Steiner is! Team Canada leave, but the jovial mood doesn’t return. (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Major Gunns helped Storm here, but he still performed poorly in comparison to everyone else.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Back in the dressing room of the Natural Born Thrillers, Mike Sanders still looks a little disheveled because his plan to take out Ernest Miller didn’t work but doesn’t let it bother him. He completely ignores Miller, despite Tony and Scott bringing him up on commentary, to talk about the Filthy Animals. Mike says that starting tonight, we will start to see a series of matches between the Animals and the Thrillers until SuperBrawl. ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Coming to the ring is “The Franchise” Shane Douglas along with Crowbar and Daffney. Daffney is wearing a hot pink wig and t-shirt that says “Shannon’s Sane” on it. Douglas takes the microphone to talk about how people have been telling him week in and week out that he shouldn’t have poked at the Italians. Shane laughs, saying that he isn’t afraid of being “whacked” or waking up with a horse’s head next to him, so why should he be afraid of those two hardcore phonies who never could have made it where he made his name? Douglas says that tonight, he takes on Vito right here for the Hardcore title, and only if he can take it from Shane can Vito claim himself as a real, true hardcore wrestler – but if not, then the torch remains with “The Franchise”. (D) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Shane improvised well.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> With the WCW Hardcore championship on the line, Shane Douglas and Big Vito go all around the ringside area. Despite what Tony and Scott talk about, nobody gets involved in the match, leading to Shane being able to hit the Franchiser on Vito to score a victory at 3:52. (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Douglas was well suited to a brawl style match.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Backstage, we see Goldberg being treated by trainers and medical personnel. He seems way more angry than hurt! (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>This was short, but it showed what Goldberg is up to for the rest of the night.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Ric Flair is in his office when Sid Vicious walks in. He tells Flair that if Johnson keeps sticking his nose in Sid’s business, then he will be taking the powerbomb soon, whether he is a registered official or not! ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> In the first match in what is promised to be a series, Sean O’Haire takes on Rey Mysterio Jr. O’Haire physically dominates Mysterio, but the heart of Rey can never be understated as he continues to fight back each time Sean tries to bring him down. Palumbo and Jindrak both appear at ringside, but in the rush to help their partner, they get in one another’s way, arguing at ringside over who really is O’Haire’s partner! Sean nearly gets rolled up and pinned at this point, but he kicks out and takes Mysterio out by catching him and driving him to the mat with a reverse death valley driver! From there, the Seanton Bomb finishes this bout at 5:25. (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>This match cooled the crowd as planned. Sean seemed off his game.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Diamond Dallas Page and Scott Steiner are seen walking backstage, our main event starts next! (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Short segment.</em></span></p><p> Steiner/DDP walking backstage B short</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> The World’s Heavyweight title is on the line as “Big Poppa Pump” and “The People’s Champion” throw everything they have at one another! Nick Patrick takes a bump due to Steiner dodging Page’s discus clothesline, which – you’d guess it – brings out Mark Johnson. However it also brings out Mike Awesome, who sticks with what Lance Storm said about them not interfering directly by simply shoving Scott Steiner the lead pipe! Awesome leaves, as Page tries to cinch in the Diamond Cutter, but “Big Poppa Pump” shoves him away before bashing Page with the pipe! Tony and Scott cry foul that Johnson saw him blatantly use the pipe! Dallas is out as Steiner pulls him into the Steiner Recliner, and without even asking or raising the arm, Mark calls for the bell to give the match to Steiner at 16:44. (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>The crowd were buzzing during this match, but there was a lack of psychology and it deserved better color.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> In the back, apparently Sid just saw a monitor as he flies out from the back! He gives chase to Mark Johnson, but Steiner grabs him and pulls him away from Johnson, who makes a quick getaway. Steiner and Sid start fighting, as Mike Awesome gets in the ring and starts attacking DDP. That brings out Kevin Nash as well as Lance Storm, and then Booker T comes out and starts fighting with Scott Steiner! The action is going on all around the arena! (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Steiner’s performance was fantastic, with Sid looking good too. Lance underperformed. There should’ve been some better color commentary, but the crowd got hotter than they already were.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Finally from the back comes the voice of “The Nature Boy” who tells them all to stop it now! He says that if they all want in on the action, then next week right here on Monday Nitro we can see some eight man tag team action! Flair names off Scott and Rick Steiner to team with Lance Storm and Mike Awesome against The Insiders, Dustin Rhodes, and Sid Vicious – and Booker T will be the special guest referee! (A) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Flair improvised well. Awesome performed poorly and this deserved better color commentary. But this had a very hot crowd!</em></span></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Show Rating: B+</strong></p><p> <em>This show increased our popularity in 10 regions.</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/0Lh9W8w.png</span></div><p></p><p></p>

After putting over WCW as the greatest wrestling company in the world, he says that he has barred both Steiner Brothers, as well as Animal, from being in the building tonight, due to their actions on Monday. Booker T comes out to the ring before Flair can go any further from that subject, with Booker upset that Flair won’t let him wrestle yet. Ric tells Booker that he was just hit by a car only last Wednesday! He’s doing it to protect Booker from further injury, but Booker tells him not to lie; Flair is just protecting his SuperBrawl main event! Booker tells Flair that he will call the main event on Nitro down the middle, but if someone touches him, then he won’t be accountable for reacting to it! (A) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Booker interacted with the crowd masterfully while Flair improvised well, getting the crowd hotter and starting the show off strong. Could have used better color commentary though.</em></span><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> The Jung Dragons have been having troubles as of late as Leia Meow keeps getting in the way, but that isn’t the problem tonight as they get decimated by Kronik. Adams makes the cover on Yang after High Times in 3:28. (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>A few chemistry notes; Kaz and Leia are very poor, Yang and Leia are good pairing, Kronik have great chemistry. As planned, this match brought the fans down a little. Clark seemed off his game, and the match was held back for being short.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Kronik get some promo time, where Adams and Clark laugh about how Totally Buff keep running their mouths, but running away when it’s time to cash checks and break necks! “The Total Package” and Buff come out along with Madusa, with the two saying that they aren’t afraid of “a few muscleheaded punks” like Kronik at all, they just always have more important things to do, adding that they won’t be leaving when they face Kronik at SuperBrawl. Luger says that’s because they know their match will take place before Animal destroys Goldberg, and they definitely will want to watch that. Kronik raise some stakes to Totally Buff, saying that if Luger and Bagwell are so good, then during their match later tonight, they should be able to win faster than Kronik did. Kronik offer up that if Totally Buff can win their match in faster time than they just did, then Animal can name the still unannounced stipulation for his match against Goldberg, but if not then Goldberg can name it! It’s agreed upon, and the clock is set at 3:28! (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Madusa helped Luger during this, helping Luger look good. Adams was very underwhelming. This angle got the crowd hotter, but also deserved better color commentary. The announcing quality lifted the segment though.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> 2 Count come to the ring to talk about their upcoming tour. Evan says that despite internet rumors, it will not be featuring either Shane Helms or Jamie Knoble because let’s face it, in the ring or on the stage, they would both completely suck! They offer to sing a brand new verse from their upcoming new song, but it’s interrupted by “The Cat”! Ernest Miller and Ms. Jones come out with Miller saying that no one cares about their new tour because none of them can dance like “The Cat” can! He tells them that Mike Sanders continues to throw him into meaningless matches while Sanders sits back with his feet propped up, but that’ll end at SuperBrawl. But for now, somebody better call his mama, because he’s about to dance all over Karagias! (D) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Cat’s performance was good.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> A comedy match felt right to cool things down after the opening segments. “The Cat” defeats Karagias when Jamie Knoble slips into the ring while Moore was trying to hit on Ms. Jones, with Jamie hitting Evan with the tombstone to let Miller get the victory in 5:21. (D+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Ms. Jones did good work at ringside. Evan struggled due to poor comedy skills, but had a bonus for a comedy gimmick. This match did its job by giving the crowd a breather.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Moore and Karagias look ready to attack Knoble after the match, but they stop when “Sugar” Shane Helms comes out to even the odds up! It becomes a verbal confrontation, with Helms quipping that apparently his “vertebreaker” broke Karagias on Monday, proving that it’ll do the trick when he and Knoble ruin the big reunion tour by getting their revenge at SuperBrawl: Revenge in a tag match! (D-)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> A little more comedy backstage as Kwee Wee and Paisley are back at a makeup counter when Daffney happens by. When the duo start trying to give her some beauty tips, Daffney screams “I need an adult!” before running behind Crowbar. She tells him to beat them up for her, which Crowbar doesn’t seem to want to do – until Kwee Wee tries to cut some of Crowbar’s hair for him! That’s the final straw! Security break things up before they can start fighting. (D-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Paisley helped Kwee Wee here.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> A big segment next as The Insiders come down to the ring along with Dustin Rhodes. Kevin says that the Insiders are in the house, getting a big crowd pop. He tells everyone that the knee is getting a lot better after the attack two Mondays ago, and it won’t be long until he gets cleared for action again. Page adds that he’s getting tired of how every time he turns around, he has someone from Team Canada coming to attack from behind, telling the fans that it’s been time to close this chapter with a BANG! Dustin Rhodes is handed the microphone, and he explains that he’s been sitting at home in Texas for months just watching and waiting for a chance to come back. He says that he has returned to the fans, to the side of a man who has a big loyalty to his father; telling the fans not to think of him as “The Natural” or as “The American Nightmare” or as whatever crazy character any writer wants him to try and get over. He says that he was lost but has been found after years of wishing his father dead; now, he accepts who he is, and has come back as “The Prodigal Son” and he will make the best of his new chances! He changes to Team Canada, saying that he may not be “The American Dream” but he will fight for it to take down those who will talk down on his country because that’s how he was brought up. (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Page did a masterful job interacting with the crowd, performing well and getting the crowd hotter. Dustin has changed his character to a Cowboy (Wholesome) gimmick, which seemed to earn a Below Average rating. Maybe the crowd didn’t take to the new nickname yet?</em></span></p><p> </p><p> The return of “The Prodigal Son” is interrupted by the arrival of Team Canada. Lance Storm says that if he can make things serious for a minute, last week they may not have been completely prepared for a rejuvenated return of a supposed homeland icon, but it won’t happen again. Storm tells Rhodes that it won’t happen if they were to meet under fair circumstances. Dustin answers that Kevin may not be ready to go just yet, but he will be by SuperBrawl, and that’d be a great chance for a six man tag team revenge match! Storm agrees, but also says that they should have an exhibition bout, and Rhodes agrees to that, and will meet Lance Storm tonight in our main event! (C+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Gunns helped Storm during this segment.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Primetime” Elix Skipper stays in the ring as everyone else leaves for a match against Screamin’ Norman Smiley. Norman fares well for himself against his smaller opponent, catching Skipper as he tries to jump backwards over Smiley and doing The Big Wiggle on him! Glacier comes out to watch the match, but that gets Norman too excited and he is unable to lock in the Norman Conquest right, leading to Skipper being able to land the Play of the Day for a slick victory at 5:40. (D+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>A hot crowd doesn’t need worked, so this was poorly placed. Skipper is getting better at his gimmick. Elix and Norman showed great chemistry against one another. The announcing quality lifted the match, as they talked about our new main event.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Mike Awesome joins Skipper in the ring, and the two begin a beating on Smiley! Glacier looks ready to jump into the ring, but Awesome stands in his way, so Glacier bails! Elix gets a table out from under the ring and slides it into the ring, and as Glacier watches from the top of the aisle, Norman takes an Awesome Bomb through the table! As Team Canada leave, Glacier slides into the ring, making it look as if he chased them off, but he had really just ran away! (D) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Skipper continues getting better at his gimmick.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Mike Tenay enters the ring at the start of our second hour to bring out Booker T for an in-ring interview. Booker talks about how he knows he was hit with a vehicle last week, but he’s been out of action so long that he doesn’t care what condition he is in, he just wants to fight! He wants to fight Scott Steiner, but it looks like some playas want to hate on him for now. Booker says that he will be at SuperBrawl with full clearance to kick Scott’s ass and take back his World title for the fourth time, and if Ric Flair keeps standing in his way, then maybe he needs to meet him in the ring to prove how ready he is! He closes by saying that anyone in his way will find out that the “T” now stands for “threat” because that’s what Booker T is! So don’t hate the playa, just hate the game! (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Booker got a good reaction to a new catchphrase. Tenay looked dreadful in this segment, but the crowd got hotter anyways.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Commentary take some time to talk about what we’ve just heard, as it seems Booker T may be mentally ready, but he could be rushing himself just to get back into the ring. Tony calls it “the heart of a champion” but questions how smart it is to rush a potential injury when one is staring down “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner. © <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Tony and Mike underperformed, while Hudson looked dreadful here.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Crowbar is set to meet Kwee Wee in the ring, but “Angry Allan” seems to be who he faces, as Kwee Wee goes all out with heavy punches and kicks! But Crowbar, being a hardcore fighter, withstands all this and takes control of the match easily. He seems able to put this one away whenever, but Johnny the Bull sneaks a stickball bat to Kwee Wee, who uses it to nail Crowbar! Kwee Wee falls on top and actually picks up a big win at 4:01, as Daffney shrieks in terror! (D) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Paisley did good work at ringside. This match successfully cooled the crowd. Crowbar and Kwee Wee showed great chemistry against one another.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Back in “The Nature Boy’s” office, he is having a meeting with Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. They are talking about Scott Steiner, with Arn saying that they need to put he and Rick in a cage on Monday until it’s time for their match so he doesn’t cause any problems. Tully says that he could teach him some respect, with Ric and Arn telling Tully that he needs to think about his family, think about his religious commitments, before he does anything. Blanchard says that he is thinking of all those things, because he could stand up for decency. He says that he was never afraid of the Steiners before, and he isn’t now. Flair urges him to just sit back and let the younger guys take him down, with Tully agreeing, but it’s pretty clear he doesn’t care for the idea. (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Tully is getting better at his gimmick, despite being very underwhelming here. Flair came across well.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Our next match in the new series of Thrillers vs. Animals sees Chuck Palumbo team with Mark Jindrak to take on Billy Kidman and Konnan. The match is hot and heavy action, but Konnan ducks a backwards springboard clothesline from Jindrak, leading to it hitting Palumbo! Billy is quick to get into the ring and grab a delirious Chuck in a victory roll at 3:48 to pick up another win for the Animals! (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Konnan was really off his game. This was another short match.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> After a commercial break, we are backstage in the dressing room of the Natural Born Thrillers. Sanders is incensed, telling Chuck and Mark that they need to get on the same page and soon, or else he may have to do something about it! Shawn chuckles at them, with Chuck asking him where he was out there, because it didn’t look like he was anywhere to help! All four of them start arguing, until Sean O’Haire bellows out “Enough!” He holds up his half of the World Tag Team championships, saying that they need to work this out on their own time, because he intends on holding on this, and he intends on making sure Sanders keeps the commissioner role, long past SuperBrawl – and if anyone gets in the way of that, they need to answer to him! Things aren’t looking good in the Thrillers camp, but it looks like O’Haire has them on the same page for now! © <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>O’Haire was a real star in this segment.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> The Harris Brothers look to get an easy win, but they are in the ring against two-time WCW World Tag Team champions in The Mamalukes. The four men brawl all over the ring and ringside area, but eventually it is Chavo Guerrero Jr. who sneaks in and hits Big Ron with the Cruiserweight title belt, leaving him prey for Vito to impressively hit him with a spinning DDT for the win at 4:50! (D) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Ron was off his game. Ron showed his time decline, while the other three just got negative crowd reactions.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> The Harris Brothers aren’t even out of the aisle until Jeff Jarrett comes out to meet them. He tells them that was pathetic! Jarrett says that if he didn’t need them at SuperBrawl to fill out numbers, he’d fire both of them right now! He says not to even bother taking a shower, because it looks like they need to go back and study up on the Slapnuts in Action during their match next. (C-)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Totally Buff are out for what would have been our main event if not for what happened earlier. They are taking on General Rection and Corporal Cajun, with the stipulations in effect. With that in mind, Luger and Bagwell attack quickly, trying to make sure they can put this match away under the time, but things get out of hand. When it does, Brian Adams slips into the ring and hits Bagwell with a fireman’s carry DDT! As Charles Robinson gets Luger and Lash out of the ring, Hugh goes up and hits the moonsault and picks up a big win over Totally Buff, at 3:44! (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Buff was really off his game.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> With the match over and Totally Buff as the losers of their wager, Kronik stand at the top of the aisle and laugh at them, having secured the choice of a match style for Goldberg in his match at SuperBrawl: Revenge against Animal! (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Segment was short.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “The Prodigal Son” is out for his main event match, but he meets Lance Storm, who goes on a technical spree. Rhodes fights back valiantly, but Major Gunns trips him from the outside when he goes for the bulldog, leading to a superkick and the Canadian Maple Leaf in order to get a surprising submission victory at 8:48! (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>This match got the crowd buzzing. The match was a bit short.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> After the bout, the other four men rush the ring and we have a big brawl! But Storm makes the difference, dropkicking Nash on his weakened knee to take him out of the equation. In a three-on-two situation, Page and Rhodes end up getting powerbombed through tables! Thunder ends with Team Canada standing tall over their SuperBrawl opponents! Something tells me that they’ll definitely be looking for Revenge! (C+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Segment got the crowd hotter. We've talked before about it being fun to see the differences in our diaries despite having started from similar points. I'm not sure there's a better example of that than today. It's pretty ironic that we both posted shows featuring a repackaging of Dustin Rhodes on the same day. And yet we went in VERY different directions with said repackaging! :D

Interesting that on Worldwide you brought up Rey and whether or not to keep him unmasked. That's an issue I'm debating myself.

I love how you book Team Canada and it makes me sad that I just can't use Storm outside of a threshold at the top of the card to separate the good and the bad... Good show. To echo TFC's statement, it's interesting to see the thought of Rey to have a mask/no mask as I've pondered it as well. Interesting you set it up on Worldwide as it gives you a nice little angle down the road.

<p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">From the Desk of Eric Bischoff</span></span></p><p> “During Nitro, I saw three of the Natural Born Thrillers, Mark Jindrak, Sean O’Haire, and Mike Sanders, all huddled around Paul Orndorff. He was apparently giving them all tips on ring psychology and microphone work. I knew that, despite not really having the cash flow to bring in a lot of people, hiring the guy that a lot of the younger Power Plant wrestlers said is their “mentor” would pay off, and it looks promising. Those three along with Yang were all delighted to see him back on the road, and to see him taking such an interesting in helping them get ahead should be great for them. And then on Worldwide, Madusa was seen taking to protege Stacy Kiebler about how to use better psychology. Stacy isn’t much of a wrestler right now, but as women wrestlers go, Debrah is one of the best teachers you could find.</p><p> </p><p> So I screwed up a little bit. I guess it’s bound to happen once every blue moon or so, right? Well what happened was I failed to allow enough time after the opening segment to give Evan and Shane time to have the six minute match I had originally intended. However, rather than complain about it, the guys did a great job on their own in rushing out and immediately putting over Shane’s new “Vertebreaker” move as immediate death once it hits. The crowd seemed to react accordingly, and while I’m not a fan of the risk factor of it and how long it takes for him to set it up, it could really get him over if we give it a chance to build with the crowds. The first time it hurts someone though, it’s gonna be gone.</p><p> </p><p> I played a pretty major prank on Crowbar during Nitro, which finally cheered him up after the debacle involving Bam Bam being on drugs during the hardcore invitational back at Sin. I had Daffney steal his casual shoes and put them in the shower while he wasn’t paying attention. Everyone got a laugh out of it when he tried to put his foot into a sopping wet shoe and squeaked all over the waxed floor. There are still four people who are working upset, but I should be able to cheer them up pretty directly, I think. Might stick with this whole ribbing thing afterwards, just to keep people on their toes.</p><p> </p><p> On Thunder, we had a solid show that shed a lot of focus on the Insiders vs. Team Canada feud. While the show probably ended up hurt due to the lack of Steiner and Goldberg, it was still good enough for most fans. I only needed to coerce one person the whole evening, as Buff would have been pretty upset about losing to Hugh, but he got over it with some simple rebooking so that he came out well. But I did structure Chuck Palumbo and Crowbar to be protected in their matches, just for the simple idea of keeping them looking strong in loss.</p><p> </p><p> Shannon Moore returned from injury this past week, which means I can work a little bit of him into matches for the 2 Count vs. Helms and Knoble feud. </p><p> </p><p> “Big Kev” took it upon himself to shake his head and tell me that Shawn Stasiak just isn’t gonna be cutting it in the ring, that he has poor ring psychology and probably isn’t worth keeping around. He also seems to still have it out a little for Bryan Clark, telling me something about how he doesn’t think he can work a “WCW style”. We… don’t really have a “style”, sorry Kev.</p><p> </p><p> Ratings-wise, we really brought it this week. By heavily promoting Steiner against Page, we popped a very nice 2.68 rating. Numbers like that should really help out when I’m negotiating with a new broadcaster! Thunder then raised up to a 2.31 rating, while Worldwide had a 0.08. Now is the best time when I should make some calls about who will be hosting our shows post-Turner. Because with some solid TV ratings numbers under our belt, that’ll make a great bargaining chip.</p><p> </p><p> I can’t get too overzealous, but damn if I’m not getting pretty excited about the future of World Championship Wrestling.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>----------</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="The Final Countdown" data-cite="The Final Countdown" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>We've talked before about it being fun to see the differences in our diaries despite having started from similar points. He is really such a versatile character.</p><p> </p><p> The only thing I find difficult with Team Canada is their popularity. They are building, but it's a slow process. Awesome and Storm are doing fine, but Skipper started from lagging way behind them. I have some pretty cool things in store for them as long as they stay away from trouble <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> It is a bit of a weird spot with Rey. On one hand, it really was one of WCW's blunders to unmask him; though back then I didn't find it as big a deal as it's led to believe. On the other hand, it'd be way easier to find good pictures of him if/when this diary moves further forward to put him back under the mask as he did go back to it in real life. I'm not really sure which way I'll end up falling, but for now, I'm going to stick with unmasked.</p><p> </p><p> Nitro is all ready to go, but I'm going to give it a few days for the last of week 1 to sink in. Happy reading, all!</p>

Booker turns to Flair, asking if Steiner really just said that. Booker retorts that he hasn’t asked for any protection, he wants to fight – but he is gonna do it legally, in the ring, with that World title on the line, so that he can take from Scott what he really treasures the most: his pride. Booker says that he let his emotions get the better of him a few weeks ago on Thunder, and he got his ass whipped for it. He says that will not happen again, Scott and Rick will not get another chance to attack him, because he’s gonna take the fight to them, and then take home the championship for a fourth time!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="150" height="100" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/erD2n2NJMtM?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/erD2n2NJMtM?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> Speaking of people who want the title for a fourth time, Diamond Dallas Page interrupts, standing outside the ring as it seems to be getting pretty filled up. Page has his own microphone, and he tells Scott that last week, he gave Dallas one hell of a beating, but he didn’t finish the job! Instead, some crooked referee decided that it would be best to screw him over, saying that he holds Flair accountable to some extent of that as well! Page says that he wants another shot, and if he pins Steiner in the eight man tag team match tonight, then Flair should award him another title match! Steiner laughs in his face though; saying that Page got his shot and now he best take his skinny, decrepit ass to the back of the line! <em>“’The Big Bad Booty Daddy’ already shut you down, you trailer park crap! He stands next to DDP, sharing his microphone to tell both Scott and Booker that tonight is most certainly a night that may determine the next World title contender – and chances are very good that it’s gonna be one of the Insiders. Scott tells them not to even get him started on percentage chances of victory, because the odds won’t be measurable to them. Nash points out that actually, the odds are definitely in their favor; because in case people haven’t been paying attention, there’s been an honorary Insider who gives them a 75% chance of scoring a pinfall… </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="150" height="100" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Q_dv4RFHa3Q?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/Q_dv4RFHa3Q?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> “The Prodigal Son” returns to Richmond and Nitro as he comes to the ring. Steiner starts saying that enough is enough with all these people interrupting his time, but Dustin does just that by telling him that he needs to just shut the hell up! Dustin says that he just came back to WCW, so he isn’t expecting any special treatment. But a victory tonight would set him forward a long way to his ultimate goal: winning the title that has eluded him for his entire career so far, the World Heavyweight championship! Dustin says that he was lost, but now he has found his purpose in life, which will be to etch his name in the annals of history by taking the gold for himself. Steiner changes gears here, telling Rhodes that since he hasn’t been around again for very long, he will give him the ultimatum. Scott says that if Dustin has a half a brain, he would take this advice to heart: step aside. Do like Sting, do like Jarrett, like Sid, and just walk away from wanting the gold, because “Big Poppa Pump” will not be giving it up to anyone who is out here, not even Flair! He stays at the top of the aisle, saying that if anyone deserves a shot at the gold, it’s him, because for once, he shouldn’t have a crooked referee out here to cheat him from getting his hands on Steiner! Sid puts everyone on notice that he is “The Master and Ruler of the World” and that ring tonight in the eight man tag team match will be his world! Sid warns anyone who stands in his way, including Booker, that he had better call the match right down the middle – because if he doesn’t, that vehicle that hit him two weeks ago on Thunder will be nothing compared to the beating that Sid will lay on him! Flair holds Booker back from everyone, telling him that now isn’t the time, as it appears everyone – including the Steiner Brothers – have come to agreement on one thing; that Booker T had best be an impartial referee! (A*) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Steiner and Page improvised well, Nash enjoyed being off-script, and Dustin worked the crowd well. Booker was the only one who struggled off-script, which is shocking given Sid was involved in this. Booker was very underwhelming as he tried to defend himself and Dustin looked lost out there. Lance Storm says that he doesn’t need to make a grand entrance into the arena to be serious for a moment. <em>“We made all the impact we needed to last Wednesday night when ‘The Canadian Career Killer’ shortened the already way too long careers of The Insiders by putting Dallas and Rhodes through tables. It was so much fun that we want to do it again. (D)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Backstage, we see General Rection and Corporal Cajun in their dressing room. Chavo Guerrero Jr. comes up to them and starts talking about making a plan for Hugh’s US title defense tonight, saying that he will need both he and Cajun out there because Buff Bagwell will definitely have Luger, Animal, and Madusa with him, and also because Jeff Jarrett could be anywhere. Hugh tells him that Chavo needs to just get it through his head: he’s not with them anymore! He’s not a Misfit, he’s on the other side of the line! Lash starts giving Chavo a tongue lashing in French, until Hugh tells Chavo that he may have weaseled his way into being their partner at SuperBrawl, but that doesn’t make them friends again – once that’s over, he better defend that title against Cajun! Page says that the table hurt, but it’s not like he’s never worked hurting before. Rhodes agrees that Team Canada only broke some tables, they haven’t broken their spirits yet. Kevin Nash closes by saying that he’s a real fun person to be around, but these “little gnats” are starting to get pretty irritating. If they want to play with tables, then let’s play with tables, but get one thing clear: it’ll only be as long as Team Canada make it to SuperBrawl! Because tonight, it won’t be the fun loving “Big Sexy” coming to the ring, it’ll be the guy nobody wants him to be, it’ll be the guy who brought the entire company to it’s knees a few years ago if it has to be! <em>“Whoever it is, mark my words, someone is getting Jackknifed tonight!”</em> (C+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Dustin and Gene clearly enjoyed the freedom of being unscripted. You may have bruised, cracked, or even broken my ribs. Luger and Bagwell have the microphone to talk about Kronik, saying that they aren’t and have never been afraid of Kronik because they are the strongest, best looking men in all of WCW! Buff says that it’ll be even sweeter to go into SuperBrawl with the United States gold around his glorious waist; <em>“Because I’m Buff, I got the stuff, and Kronik are just some little cream puffs!”</em> (B) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Madusa underperformed.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> General Rection defeats Buff Bagwell by disqualification at 5:16 to retain the WCW United States championship. Gene says that General Rection was on his way to winning the match when Jarrett interfered, but Jeff ignores that in order to apologize to Buff, saying that Bagwell would have made a very good champion, but “The Chosen One” just needs the US title around his waist more than Buff does. © <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Gene enjoyed being off-script, but Jarrett struggled, having too much to say and not enough time to fit it all in.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Back in a dark room, Sid Vicious talks about how tonight, he gets his hands on Scott Steiner. Miller says that Mike Sanders has been on his ass for months, and it isn’t stopping tonight; he’s beaten and sore, but he has to face Mark Jindrak tonight and then on Thunder, he and Kronik have to take on Totally Buff and Animal! Gene asks them about some possible dissension in the ranks of the Thrillers with how we’ve seen some arguing lately, but Sanders laughs him off. “Above Average” says that his men are all together on the same page after last week all by his own doing. Gene starts to point out O’Haire, but Sanders cuts him off by saying that tonight, Palumbo and O’Haire, our World Tag Team champions, will do what others could by defeating the Filthy Animals, which Gene feels is a dig at Mark Jindrak. Sanders tells Okerlund to stop trying to cause problems, with Gene telling Sanders to stop trying to cause problems! Mike Tenay enters the room to get a word with him, asking him that with his rival and SuperBrawl opponent Scott Steiner on the other side of the ring, how can he be impartial? Booker says that he has all the reason in the world to not be impartial, but that wouldn’t be fair to the fans. As much as he would rather be in the match than officiating it, he says that tonight he really hates the game, but he will play it fairly… unless someone gives him a reason to get out of line. (C+)</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Mean” Gene is in the interview area alongside Scott and Rick Steiner now, and he makes a passing comment to Midajah until the champion shuts that down and puts all the focus on him, screaming <em>“Ever’one knows that I’m the World championship, I’m champion, I’m champion you old bastard!”</em> “The Genetic Freak” says that overall, he doesn’t care who is on his side or who is on the other side of the ring; right now, he has only one goal tonight: keep his title, embarrass Booker T by forcing him to raise Scott’s hand at the end of the match, and then go home and enjoy the company of his top freaks! Booker T played an impartial official until Rick Steiner started shoving him around after a near-fall on Page, and that opened it up for Booker to attack him, hitting the Book End on “The Dog-Faced Gremlin”! But while Booker was not paying attention, Mark Johnson ran into the ring and actually handed Scott Steiner the World’s title, which he used to nail Sid Vicious with it! Johnson leaves the ring when Booker chases him away, but he never saw anything – and Scott rolls Vicious over and makes Booker get down and count one – two – three! Steiner and Booker start throwing punches at one another, with Ric Flair running down the aisle with Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Paul Orndorff in tow to try and break this up! Tully doesn’t do them any favors, angering Steiner even further when he throws a punch! Finally more help comes in the form of General Rection and Konnan, and we go off the air tonight with an entire ring full of people trying to keep champion and challenger from making SuperBrawl: Revenge happen right here tonight! He tells Jarrett that he would have gladly fought him at SuperBrawl, because he’s very tired of picking guitar splinters out of his teeth! But it was Chavo who went behind all of their backs to Ric Flair – but he says that even though he doesn’t trust Guerrero, he and Corporal Cajun will fight them on the land, on the sea, and in the ring with all they have because the Misfits in Action have declared war on Jeff Jarrett! Scott does all the talking of course, as Rick and Midajah stand and look menacingly and sexily, respectively. “Big Poppa Pump” laughs off Booker T, telling him that he needs to listen to Ric Flair and <em>“go sit at the kiddie table until ‘Big Papa’ is ready to come and make you his little bitch!”</em> Scott also adds that Tully Blanchard has some fire left in his old bones, but he needs to remember that this ain’t 1984 fighting <em>“porn ‘stache fruitcups like Magnum TA, or fat asses like Dusty Rhodes. ‘The Genetic Freak’ is the real deal, a real man, and if you don’t want to get hurt, you better go hide behind Flair and Arn like you done for the best parts of your career, before it’s your life at stake!”</em> (B-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Scott was very poor trying to improvise dialogue here, sounding like he rambled too much. Gene was superb off-script, tying Scott together into something coherent. He looked poor here in comparison to all the big names around him though.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> Backstage after a commercial break, there’s a big commotion as Booker T found the Steiners! Booker is trying to get to them, but WCW Security led by Ric Flair are holding him back. Booker finally loses his cool and takes a swing at a security officer, and that gets all of them to jump on him! Rick and Scott leave the scene laughing as Booker is handcuffed and being held down on the floor! (A) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Scott Hudson’s commentary was poor, but the angle got the live crowd hotter.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> With the odds even by Flair’s decree of no more interference, “Sugar” Shane Helms defeats Shannon Moore with the Vertebreaker at 4:23 in a comedic match that saw both men break into a dance off during the middle portion of it. (D) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>The comedy match gave the crowd a nice breather. Shannon may have mediocre comedy skills, but his comedy based gimmick is well-suited to this.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> “Mean” Gene talks to “The Cat” Ernest Miller and Kronik, with Miller bashing Mike Sanders for making him continuously fight while Sanders sits back and relaxes every night. Kronik say that they are not getting paid by Ernest tonight because they want their hands on Totally Buff that badly. ©</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> In our final Thrillers vs. Animals match tonight, there is no interference thanks to Ric Flair. With the match one on one, Billy Kidman slips out of a powerbomb and rallies to defeat Mark Jindrak with the Kid Krusher at 3:27. (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Kidman seemed off his game, while Tygress did good work at ringside.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Mike Awesome comes to the ring for his match, but he gets a microphone first. He calls out Kevin Nash, saying that he didn’t come out to attack Skipper or Storm, so that means he must want Awesome, so come on out here right now! He gets no answer, until the TurnerTron comes to life with Nash backstage. He tells Awesome that he doesn’t need to come out there, because he knew where his targets would be after their matches – and the camera pans back to reveal Elix Skipper being held by Nash against a wall with an aluminum baseball bat under his chin! Nash uses the bat to hit Elix in the stomach and sets him up, delivering a Jacknife Powerbomb through a nearby table! Awesome is livid in the ring! (C+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>The segment deserved better color commentary, but the announcing lifted the segment. Nash came across well, and Skipper is getting better at his gimmick.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Sid Vicious defeats Mike Awesome after Kevin Nash does come out to the arena as Charles Robinson is out cold on the arena floor. Nash uses his aluminum bat to hit Awesome in the stomach and then down across his back, leading to Sid hitting a chokeslam in 3:31 that gets the win. (C-) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>This was a very short match and was penalized correctly for it. Awesome was well suited to the brawling style of it though.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Backstage, Ric Flair is seen talking to Booker T, telling him that “The Nature Boy” was lucky to get Booker out of being arrested, but he has to leave the arena now. Booker argues, but Flair forces him to do so, the CEO leaving along with him to make sure that he goes to the hotel and stays there. (A* 96) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Booker was superb off-script here, while Flair improvised well. This angle got the crowd hotter despite deserving better color commentary.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> Our main event sees Animal and Totally Buff defeat “The Cat” Ernest Miller and Kronik with Animal powerslamming and pinning Miller at 8:30 after he was distracted by Mike Sanders pulling Ms. Jones back to the locker room. (C+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Both women did good work at ringside. The crowd were very hot during this match.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png</span> The Steiner Brothers come back out to the ring to finish Scott’s promo from earlier, with more material this time as he verbally assaults Booker for having to be hauled out of here by police and Ric Flair. But with Flair away, Tully Blanchard comes to the aisle with a microphone. He tells Scott that he isn’t and has never been afraid of him whether he was “Big Poppa Pump” or some punk kid from the University of Michigan in neon spandex. Tully says that on Nitro, we’ll be in one of his greatest stomping grounds, Georgia, and he invites Scott to join him in the ring. Not for a sanctioned title match, but for a one on one, man to man fight where Tully plans to teach Steiner some respect! “Big Poppa Pump” tells Tully that if he doesn’t head back to the retirement home before Monday, then he’s going to put him there permanently! The show ends with Blanchard looking determined to teach his enemy some respect this Monday on Nitro! (B+) <span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Scott did a masterful job of improvising here, and came out of this looking excellent. However, Tully struggled off-script and looked lost.</em></span></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Show Rating: B</strong></p><p> <em>This show has increased our popularity in 10 regions.</em></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="220" height="124" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vrfM5GzCLOQ?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/vrfM5GzCLOQ?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/r06q6I3.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>WCW Worldwide</strong></p><p> <em><span style="font-size:8px;">February 11th, 2001 (Week 2)</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Held at: The Charlottesvile Gymnasium in Charlottesville, Virginia (Mid Atlantic)</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Announcers: Mike Tenay and Scott Hudson</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Attendance: 1,000 people (sold out!)</span></em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><ul><li> AskWCW.com is a question for Diamond Dallas Page this week, as a fan asks when we might see Kimberly in WCW again. At Nitro, I had to levy one of my first big warnings of my new tenure. I knew it was only a matter of time, to be fair. As one would probably expect with how he acts both on and off screen, it was Scott Steiner, as he was selfishly running his mouth around backstage. He was also telling me that he thinks Kidman has poor ring sense and isn’t worth keeping around. I gave him a stern warning for running his big mouth so much, telling him that this behavior might have been tolerated last time I was in charge, but we can’t have people thinking they’re bigger than the company anymore. He shrugged it off, not really seeming to take my words to heart or being upset at them. I have a feeling this may come back around down the line, however. Apparently Ric Flair was walking around running his mouth as well, really irritating some of the guys with his bragging and boasting, because I guess when your character is “The Nature Boy” it must be hard to flip that switch off. I say “apparently” it happened because I didn’t have to do anything about it. Harley Race pushed Ric off to the side and told him, in no uncertain terms, to knock it off, and make up for it by paying for drinks after the show. Flair reportedly danced around backstage afterwards saying that he planned on the tab being in his name tonight anyways. Maybe if Ric didn’t buy so many parties, he’d be able to retire soon… But in good news, I also saw Paul Orndorff and Harley getting along well, sharing some old road stories about Bobby Heenan to get some laughs.</p><p> </p><p> Jim Duggan returns from a vacation this coming Monday, but I hope people aren’t expecting to see him. “Hacksaw” is pretty played out for major television; I’m sending him to Wildside to work with the young guys. Disqo is also returning, but I’m not entirely sure what to do with him yet. I will try to work him into a storyline after SuperBrawl.</p><p> </p><p> I saw where a new promotion opened up this month in Mexico called Xtreme Latin American Wrestling, or X-LAW. They look pretty small time for now as they are trying to sign up some talent, but if they stick it out and have some decent people on their side, they may one day be a viable partner that we can trade talent with.</p><p> </p><p> Nitro this week got a 2.74 rating, with Thunder showing a 2.55 and Worldwide a 0.09. We keep moving up, up, up!”</p>

WCW Nitro: 2/12/2001

So here we are again. I had some serious trouble with motivating myself on 2001 as of late, and then I very nearly lost the save due to a weird corruption issue in TEW. I had this show all booked and was in the process of writing it when the corruption happened, so then I had to redo the whole thing all over again. So this show has been a pretty bad experience on my end, to the point that I nearly thought about quitting this diary and starting a new one.

But getting away from it was the best thing, as it let me think about all the plans I have for it all over again and bring back my own interest in it.

So while I am incredibly busy and so Thunder and SuperBrawl may not get posted for another week or so, at least I am finally able to post this Nitro!

If there's more people who want to get predictions in on SuperBrawl,

there will still be time until Thunder/Worldwide is done, so feel free to post them up! Thanks to everyone for continuing to follow!

Last Week in WCW: “The Steiner Brothers had Booker T hauled out of Thunder nearly in handcuffs, but Tully Blanchard challenged Scott to a fight on Nitro! After DDP and Dustin Rhodes were attacked by Team Canada, Kevin Nash got back at them by putting Elix Skipper through a table with a Jackknife Powerbomb! The final touches were made to the SuperBrawl: Revenge card, but what could change this week? Find out tonight, only on WCW Nitro!”

WCW Monday Nitro

February 12th, 2001 (Week 3)

Held at: The KSU Convocation Center in Kennesaw, Georgia (South East)

Announcers: Tony Schiavone and Scott Hudson

Attendance: 4,792 people (sold out!)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png The show opens with Ric Flair coming to the ring, the CEO talking about how he knows Booker T and all the fans have wanted to see him get his hands on Scott Steiner, but he just couldn’t allow that until this Sunday at SuperBrawl: Revenge for fear of Booker’s physical well being. The Steiner Brothers walk out and get in Flair’s face, with Scott saying that if Flair really cared for Booker’s health, he’d cancel the match, because “Big Poppa Pump” is going to put Booker right back on that shelf he came off of! Steiner also adds that tonight, he’s going to break Flair’s old buddy with the big mouth right in half in front of all the Georgia rednecks who made the Horsemen famous in the first place. Flair says that he didn’t want to see Tully do this, but he’s going to make it an even playing field; in our main event match of the evening before the fight between Blanchard and “Big Poppa Pump”, Rick must take on an opponent to be named later tonight! (A) The announcing really lifted the segment here. Flair improvised well during this segment, while Steiner did masterful interactions with the crowd. This got the crowd hotter and got the show off to a strong start. Scott looked fantastic here.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png The Insiders and Team Canada did battle in our opening contest with Mike Awesome winning by disqualification at 5:05 over “The Prodigal Son” Dustin Rhodes when Rhodes opens Awesome’s legs over the ropes and delivers a horrific low blow field kick, right in front of Scott James! ©

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page join Dustin Rhodes in the ring as Lance Storm comes out to assist Awesome to the back. The three hurl jokes at Awesome and “the rest of you maple suckers” as Storm seethes. (C+) Nash’s performance was good, working the crowd well while off-script. Dustin improvised well, and DDP looked good.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png “Mean” Gene comes out to the stage and brings out referee Mark Johnson. Okerlund asks Johnson why he asked for this time to talk to everyone, with Mark saying that he wants everyone to know that Sid is not in the arena tonight – because he has placed a restraining order on him! He says that as long as he is in the arena, Sid Vicious will legally be barred from being in the arena! (D+) This segment needed better color commentary. Johnson performed poorly in this segment.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Mike Tenay is in the dressing room with Team Canada, where now Lance Storm is serious. He says that the Insiders should be ashamed of themselves for their actions tonight, and for every joke they made earlier, he is going to stretch that much harder on DDP when he faces him tonight! © Major Gunns helped Storm during this segment.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png “The Total Package” Lex Luger defeats Screamin’ Norman Smiley. He didn’t have as easy a match as he expected, but in the end the Torture Rack secured the victory at 2:31. (C-) Lex seemed off his game, but Madusa did good work at ringside. As planned, the match brought the fans down a little.

The match is over, but Lex, Buff Bagwell, and Animal don’t seem to feel done with sending this message. The three men begin tearing Smiley apart with a vicious attack, as Norman screams all he can. Finally, he’s rescued – by Glacier! Glacier rushes to the ring as snow fills the arena, and he strikes a martial arts pose while putting himself between them and Norman! The fans cheer him on as he heroically throws a few kicks toward Totally Buff, keeping them at bay… until Animal runs right through him with a clothesline! The beating then commences on Glacier, and he is left lying right next to Smiley; reaching out and grasping Norman’s hand in strength and unity as trainers and security come out to help the two. © Luger came out of this looking excellent, and the performance of Animal was good. Glacier underperformed, but the crowd really got hotter from his standing up for Norman.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png A recap video shows some of the words sent one another’s way earlier between Diamond Dallas Page and Lance Storm, as we ready ourselves for their upcoming singles match. ©

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Lance Storm shocks the nation by not only going head-to-head with Dallas Page, but after a grueling bout that clocks in at 18:01, Storm wears Page down and finishes a tired Dallas cleanly by locking in the Maple Leaf to make him pass out in the hold! (C+) The match deserved better color commentary, but it had the crowd absolutely buzzing.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Backstage, “Mean” Gene Okerlund has “The Cat” Ernest Miller and Ms. Jones in the interview area. Miller says that he is pretty damn tired of all Mike Sanders’s games, knowing he has a mystery opponent who is returning to WCW tonight. Miller says that he doesn’t care if it’s Hulk Hogan himself, somebody better call his mama because “The Cat” is about to whoop some ass! (C-)

Nobody could have expected the returning opponent for The Cat, but not because it’s someone insanely shocking…

http://i.imgur.com/wZZb3Lb.jpg

Disqo makes his in-ring return, but first he gets a microphone. He tells the fans that for years, everyone regarded him as one thing: a loser. Whether it was because of the disco dancing, the disco duck, or just being jealous of his hair, they all have called him a loser. But he’s not a loser anymore; he’s a winner! And it’s all thanks to his new self-help guru, who has convinced him that he can do anything. So Disqo is going to start doing anything he pleases, beginning right now with defeating Ernest Miller right here in the ring! (D+)

In what turns out to be a mostly comedy match that sees a dance off and Disqo constantly checking the notes he brought with him from his self-help guru, Disqo defeats “The Cat” by hitting the Chartbuster at 2:47 after Mike Sanders had come out and pulled Ms. Jones away form ringside. The match also saw referee Mark Johnson very conspicuously out of position when Miller was clearly covering Disqo for what would’ve been about a five count after the Feliner, but it was not counted. (D+) This match succeeded at giving the crowd a breather. Ms. Jones did good work at ringside.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png “Mean” Gene is back in Ric Flair’s office, the CEO sitting next to Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. Gene, Flair, and Arn still seem like they would like to talk Tully out of having a fight with Scott Steiner tonight, but Blanchard says that no bully ever learns from people not standing up to them. He says that it won’t be a match for a title, it’ll be nothing short of a fight for respect. (C+) Flair worked the segment well, and Tully did a masterful job of interacting with everyone. Arn and Gene improvised well. Flair looked like a real star, but Tully performed poorly and Gene just got lost in the shuffle of the segment.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Six-man tag team action sees the Natural Born Thrillers team of Sean O’Haire, Chuck Palumbo, and Mark Jindrak defeat the three Filthy Animals when O’Haire muscles Kidman to the ground with a Widowmaker to get a pinfall at 7:05, to gain even more momentum leading into their title defense at SuperBrawl: Revenge! (C+) The match deserved better color commentary.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Back in the interview area, Mike Tenay is standing with Team Canada. Mike Awesome still seems to be hobbling a little, but Elix Skipper and Major Gunns are beaming with pride as Lance Storm says that no matter how they did it in Awesome’s case, they saw two victories that Team Canada hold over the Insiders within one night, and at SuperBrawl, they’re going to hold the most important victory: the final one. © Both Tenay and Skipper seemed to underperform. Which only tells me one thing, that Lance and Mike are getting more and more over as they get pushed.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Elsewhere backstage, Mike Sanders is celebrating his Natural Born Thrillers. He says that thanks to their great performance earlier, he is so overwhelmed by how they’ve done that he is going to give them the night off from active competition on Thunder as he will wrestle one of the Animals himself! © O’Haire’s performance was good, and Palumbo came across well.

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png The Steiner Brothers are seen in their dressing room, with Scott and Rick looking prepared for the remainder of the show; Rick having his mystery opponent and Scott having Midajah rub oil on his chest so she has “the right shine, just like that old bastard Anderson’s head” for tonight. (B)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png “The Dog-Faced Gremlin” is waiting in the ring, when the CEO Ric Flair comes out to the aisle. He tells Rick that he made sure to find someone who will make sure that he is unable to interfere in Scott’s business tonight, before bringing out…

<iframe width="200" height="113" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/M9udAirjw3U?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

(B-)

A wild brawl ensues between Goldberg and Rick Steiner, with Goldberg finally picking up the win over his tough adversary by ducking away from a flying bulldog attempt to run through Rick with a Spear! That sets up the Jackhammer and pinfall at 8:48 as Goldberg’s new streak goes to 39-0. (C+) The match needed better color and suffered due to lack of selling, but it got the crowd hotter.

The match over, Goldberg is ready to leave the ring when he spots Animal at the top of the ramp! Goldberg motions for him to come to the ring, but Animal merely stands there, almost sarcastically applauding Goldberg’s win this evening, before going back to the locker room again. Is Animal playing mind games with Goldberg? (B-)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Ric Flair looks annoyed backstage, as he is rushing out the door of the arena. Tony and Scott question what this could be about, but with nobody to ask Flair where he’s going or why, this is a question for another night. (B)

http://i.imgur.com/5EQ9iSq.png Before Tully can come to the ring, the World champion Scott Steiner takes the microphone. He urges Blanchard to “walk away” citing that he put Booker T and Sting on the shelf, he sent Sid packing, and even Ric Flair has been too yellow to actually face him. With all these men, most of them in the prime of their careers, choosing to disappear from his sight rather than keep facing him, what is a broken down old has been like Tully going to accomplish? (B+) Scott is definitely “on” tonight, doing more masterful interactions with the crowd. He was a real star in this segment, despite it deserving both better announcing and color commentary.

Blanchard does not leave however, and as soon as he hits the ring there is a vicious fight. Steiner mostly dominates it, but Tully is tough in his own rights and fires back constantly with whatever he can. The former Horseman finally seems as though he’s going to fade in the Steiner Recliner, but Booker T hits the ring from behind Steiner and smashes him in the back with a chair! Booker hits the Book End on the champion and then for good measure he nails Steiner with his own championship title! Tully and Booker stand over the unconscious “Big Poppa Pump” as Nitro ends! (B+) This segment again deserved better color commentary. Steiner looked good, while Tully came off poorly. The crowd were very hot for this segment.
