Scott Steiner - Big Poppa Pump overcomes the odds to retain the title a year after the first time he "won" it.

New Age Outlaws - Davey screws his brothers-in-law out of the titles to kickstart a whole new family feud for the Harts... but one that they caused themselves.

Candidsnow - This is a fun little story, but it ends with Al regaining Head.

Kevin Nash

Goldust - Dustin is my pick to win this thing, because he's the only one with nothing better to do.

Sid - Raven will probably just lay down on this one.

Taker vs. Shawn is the no contest

Cactus/Goldust - This is where Shawn will screw Nash, superkicking him out of the tournament.

Sid/Raven - If this goes how I'm figuring, then this will be a bye, so Sid moves on to the finals.

Nash/Ahmed/Cactus/Goldust - Kingdust!

No Contest: Taker vs. Shawn; both are too big to just lay down for the other at a "small" PPV like King of the Ring. I know it's not small, but of the big five, it's definitely the B+ of the world.

Tiebreaker: 21:10, long enough to not get a "short match" penalty but there's a lot of matches on this card so you need all you can get.

Preview for WWF King of the Ring, Week 3, June 1997

WWF Championship: Triple Threat Match

Scott Steiner © vs. Steve Austin vs. Brian Pillman

Comments: The reign continues, and we get more Steiner mic time!

WWF Tag Team Championship Match

The Hart Foundation © vs. The New Age Outlaws

Comments: Time to kick the family feud into a higher gear.

Head on a Pole Match

Al Snow & Chris Candido vs. Edge & Christian

Comments: This was a good feud, and in the end it builds Snow and Candido as credible challengers following the NAO title victory.

King of the Ring: Quarter-Final Match

Kevin Nash vs. Ahmed Johnson

Comments: I like Ahmed, but Nash is just too hot right now.

King of the Ring: Quarter-Final Match

Cactus Jack vs. Goldust

Comments: Marcus is going to cause a victory for his "mentor" in this one.

King of the Ring: Quarter-Final Match

Psycho Sid vs. Raven

Comments: I think the paranoia mind games step up here with Raven laying down for Sid to make him second guess things even more.

King of the Ring: Quarter-Final Match

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels

Comments: Making this the No Contest, simply because I can't see Shawn winning this without winning the whole damn thing.

King of the Ring: Semi-Final Match

Nash/Ahmed vs. Cactus/Goldust

Comments: Now while Nash is too damn hot right now, this would be around the perfect time for some shenanigans, so I'm calling a Goldy victory on this one.

King of the Ring: Semi-Final Match

Taker/HBK vs. Sid/Raven

Comments: This is just the bye due to Taker and Shawn being the No Contest.

King of the Ring: Final Match

Nash/Ahmed/Cactus/Goldust vs. Taker/HBK/Sid/Raven

Comments: Raven giveth, Raven taketh away, leading to Goldust winning the King of the Ring and giving him more of a rub as a serious player in the Fed.

One of these matches tonight ends in a no contest.....which one?

Comments: Taker vs Shawn, which I'm hoping could lead to a longer feud from this eventually.

Ahmed is strong we know that.....but I think we sometimes forget just HOW strong he is......this is a man that’s bodyslammed Kokina....and with much more finesse than some people....(I’m looking at you Lex Luger).....so the sight of him manhandling Big Sexy shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it’s still an impressive sight none the less.....</p><p> </p><p> ......Nash does manage to claw his way back into the match a few times, even attempting to slam Ahmed, but each time he tries a high impact move his knee buckles and Ahmed is straight back on the offence....Rude even remarks that the best thing Nash could do here is concede the match and head home for a few weeks to fully rehab that knee, but Jim Ross says that if there’s one thing Kevin Nash is not, it’s a quitter.....and as if to prove his point, Nash chooses that exact moment to mount the first comeback of the match that doesn’t see his knee give way.....</p><p> </p><p> ......it’s not the best comeback in the world, mainly consisting of punching Ahmed square in the face.....but it’s effective.....and as the adrenaline starts to pump, Nash is able to put more and more weight on that bad leg, until finally he signals that he’s going to try for the Jacknife......of course Ahmed has something in his arsenal that Nash doesn’t......Jim Cornette.......who hops up onto the apron to distract the official away......</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="HDOWnFw.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HDOWnFw.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> ......from the fact that Shawn Michaels has come running down the aisle, sliding into the ring behind Nash, and in a Page right out of the Nature Boy’s playbook, chop blocks the knee of his former friend, before bailing quick as a flash, just as Ahmed wriggles free and nails Big Sexy with a Big Low Blow, before locking him to the mat for the one, the two and the three. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> Ahmed Johnson</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="Rc3NoDZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Rc3NoDZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="oJqc7jC.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oJqc7jC.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> As medical personnel are assisting Kevin Nash in the ring, we head to the back where Dok Hendrix is standing by with Raven and the Flock.....DeMott, Daniels and the Dogs of War stand strictly behind their fearless leader, who is asked by Dok, exactly why he seems hell bent on driving Sid to the very point to psychosis? facing off against a man in Raven who seems determined to to tip the scales of Sid’s sanity from Psycho all the way over to “One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest” crazy.....and he’s doing a good job of it so far, as just last week he raised Sid’s paranoia to such a level that the Big Man actually struck a member of the audience.....and was arrested for his troubles......Sid was since released without charge (obviously, since he’s here) and spent time visiting with the gentleman that he assaulted.....but when it comes to this match, Psycho Sid’s head is anywhere but in the game......</p><p> </p><p> ......and if you’re Head is not in the game, Raven is the last person you want to be facing.....because the man is a master manipulator, and his game plan is obvious tonight.....rattle his much larger opponent into making a mistake.....because it’s safe to say that in a straight up fight, Sid has the size and the strength to put pretty much anyone down......but sometimes all the strength in the world can’t help you against an actual evil genius, and even though Raven comes down to fight this match alone, one by one the Flock slowly start to appear.....</p><p> </p><p> ......it starts with Christopher Daniels making his way through the crowd and taking up position in the front row......that rattles Sid.....followed by Bill DeMott doing the same.....and that makes three bodies that Sid’s attention is divided by......and when the Dogs of War appear too, Sid is completely distracted.....talking quietly to himself in between sudden fits of maniacal laughter.....and when all four Flock members climb over the safety rail to ringside, Sid snaps and drops to the floor, looking to take some of his paranoia out on them......</p><p> </p><p> ......before he can reach them however, all four men climb back over the barrier and re-take their positions in the front row and now Sid doesn’t know what to think......he eventually gives up and decides to refocus his attention on the match, but it’s too little too late, because as he climbs back into the ring he’s met by Raven and an Evenflow DDT......and just like that, this match is over.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> needs to get past Cactus Jack.....</p><p> </p><p> ......Cactus in the other hand has got to contend with not only Goldust, but the presence of Marlena and Marcus on the outside......although he eliminates the threat of Marcus halfway through the match....because after the make up clad stylist of Goldust got too close to Sable one too many times, the blonde haired beauty slapped the blusher her part, climbing up onto the apron looking to deliver another stinging open handed slap to the furry face of Cactus, as Goldust holds his opponents arms behind his back......before she can land the often that you’re going to see The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels plonked in the middle of a Pay Per View Event.....or ANY event for that matter......this is a main event match whichever way you look at it, and yet here we are, not even half way through the show and it’s time for The Phenom vs. The Icon.....as Shawn so kindly reminded us, these two have faced off before, back at the 1997 Royal Rumble.....but what Shawn DOESN'T want you to remember, it the fact that the Undertaker absolutely destroyed him for 95% of the match......and it was only the interference of the KLiQ......AND Kane......that finally saw the Heartbreak Kid victorious......and then only by Count-Out......</p><p> </p><p> ......considering the fact that to win the King of the Ring tournament you are essentially going to have to wrestle three matches in one night, the aim of the game in these quarter final matches, is to get the win as quick as possible to conserve your strength for your upcoming battles.....the only problem with that is that neither Shawn Michaels, nor the Undertaker are the calibre of opponent that you can defeat in five minutes, means that whoever manages to advance in this one is going to be in for a very long night......</p><p> </p><p> ......Shawn Michaels might have claimed not to sweat the Undertaker earlier this evening, but he was soon sweating his ass off, because much like at the Royal Rumble, The Deadman dominated the Boy Toy for a good portion of this match.....so much so in fact that it took Flair and Anderson making their way down the aisle and The Enforcer distracting the official so that Flair and Michaels could Double Team the Deadman to stop the onslaught.....and from there on in, it was Michaels in control.....or at least as in control as anyone can be against the Undertaker.....especially when Flair and Anderson continue to interfere at opportune moments.....</p><p> </p><p> ......the Undertaker has took a lot of offence in this.....and it looks as though Michaels believes that the Deadman is done, as he backs up onto the corner, where he starts to tune up the laughing and hobbling his way around the ring mocking Big Sexy........until he turns around and hobbles right into the waiting arms of the Undertaker, who spins him upside down and plants him head Foundation put the gold on the line, against the cocky young upstarts, the New Age Outlaws.....the Harts haven’t been their usual selves as of late....bemoaning the state of the business, questioning the decision of the fans to cheer for certain individuals....even going so far as to leave their Brother In-Law the British Bulldog to fend for himself as Billy Gunn and the Road Dogg assaulted him......hardly behaviour becoming of two men who pride themselves on being Canadian Heroes.....</p><p> </p><p> .....as for the Outlaws, they have been on quite a tear as of late, and thanks to the generosity and unselfishness of two legends in Mr. Perfect and Barry Windham, both men have seen their popularity skyrocket to a point that they aren’t just worthy Challengers to the Harts, but a real threat to their Championships.....they also represent everything that Bret and Owen hate.....they’re rude....there crude....they’re cocky and arrogant......but then so far they have every right to be, because they’ve been backing that cockiness up with victories.....</p><p> </p><p> .......the match itself was outstanding......quite possibly even the match of the night on a card filled with huge match ups.....Owen, Billy and the Road Dogg worked their collective asses off, but once again it was the Hitman putting on the performance of the match, proving that even at almost 40 years old there’s life in the old dog yet......he even played the role of face in peril tonight, a job usually reserved for Owen, selling masterfully for his two opponents, who in turn came out of this one looking like a million bucks......Billy in particular, who many are saying put on a true main event calibre performance.....</p><p> </p><p> ......eventually however the Hitman was able to make the tag to his brother, and Owen hit the ring....and his opponents....like a house of fire, using speed and agility to leave the Outlaws rocking, and buy the Hitman enough time to recover and finally get back into the action himself, rolling back the years with a plancha over the top rope to The Road Dogg in the outside......back in the ring Owen comes flying across the ring and attempts to catch Billy with a spinning heel kick.....but Gunn ducks it and it’s the official that eats the back of Owens boot.....Owen stays on the offence, trying to catch Gunn with a quick kick, but the Bad Ass catches the foot.....before the back of his head catches the other foot as Owen puts him down with an enzuguri.....</p><p> </p><p> ......now Bret’s down, James is down, Gunn is down...........the official is down........but Owen isn’t.....he does look to take advantage of the situation however, collecting a steel chair from the outside and standing poised over the fallen Billy Gunn........</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="2r1GRaP.jpg" aisle, snatching the chair out of his hands.....Owen looks shocked briefly, but stands aside, obviously believing that Davey is here for retribution from the Outlaws attack on Raw, as he invites him to nail Gunn in the back......Davey however tosses the chair to one side, before berating Owen for leaving him stranded just six days ago to get his ass kicked by the Outlaws.....and that was AFTER intentionally costing him a place in the King of the Ring Tournament......Owen tells Davey to quit being such a big baby, before face palming him out of the way, turning to look for the discarded chair......and that’s when Davey scoops him up.....and drives him hard into the mat with the Running Powerslam, before turning and walking to the back......Billy Gunn and the Official both come to their senses at about the same time, and Gunn pounces on the helpless Hart, connecting with the Famouser and making the cover for the one, the two.......and the three......and just like that, we have Owen’s constant finger wagging and disapproving judgement is beginning to wear a little thin.....but Bret seems oblivious to that, stating that if that’s the way things are going to be around here, then maybe it’s time for the Hart Foundation to get with the times.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>”......because clearly, nice guys finish last around here.....there’s no more honourable men, only cheats, everyone a taste of their own medicine....before tossing the microphone down in disgust and heading to the back, leaving Jim Ross to question what exactly Bret means by that.</p><p> </p><p> Sable this time) facing off against Ahmed Johnson, with Ahmed fresh off the biggest win of his career thus far earlier in the evening, defeating former WWF Champion Kevin Nash, although be it by dubious means.....Cactus picked right up where he left off earlier in the evening as well, putting on an outstanding display here in ANOTHER match that COULD have been great if the two men had say 8-10 more minutes to wok with......</p><p> </p><p> ......as it was, they worked with what they had.......and both men did what they do best.....Ahmed threw Cactus around and beat him to within an inch of his life, and Cactus took an insane amount of crazy bumps to make his opponent look like a killing machine....with Jim Cornette his usual annoying self on the outside, taking particular pleasure in the abuse Ahmed is dishing out, given his and Cactus’ previous history.....</p><p> </p><p> ......he even interjects himself into the match towards the end of the match, possibly even saving the match for his client, draping Ahmed’s foot over the bottom rope to break the count following a Double Underhook DDT....Jack drags Ahmed to his feet and sets him up for a second DDT attempt, but Johnson powers free, lifting Cactus up almost in a backdrop, before holding him up at the very hight of the hold and tossing him forward in a modified flapjack, before running through him with a huge clothesline....</p><p> </p><p> ......the two men begin pounding on each other, landing (stiff) rights and lefts, before Cactus manages to drive the bigger man into the corner, Irish Whipping him accords the ring and charging......but Ahmed moves and Cactus hits nothing but turnbuckle, driving the wind out of himself as Ahmed spins him around, delivering the Pearl River Plunge right in the middle of the ring.....and it’s Ahmed Johnson that advances to the finals of the 1997 King of the Ring.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> Ahmed Johnson</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> Semi Final match, because after a quick promo package hyping up Summerslam we are ready for The Undertaker vs. Raven.....and this isn’t the first time these two men have met.....they had an OUTSTANDING match several months back at the tail end of a much too short programme.....this match was nowhere near the quality of that one, but then (in the story of the night) they didn’t have a great deal of time to work with......</p><p> </p><p> ......Raven showed once again that he’s more than comfortable hanging with the big boys, and he absolutely worked his ass of in this one, performing at the very highest standard.....and it’s safe to say that these two are going to clash again at some point.....and probably in a far more extended programme than their previous one.....but for tonight we are going to have to stick a pin in that, because the Undertaker has other things on his mind......like the fact that he will finally get his hands on Ahmed Johnson tonight......because after laying out Raven with a Tombstone Piledriver, the 1997 King of the Ring Finals are set.......and it will be Ahmed Johnson......vs. The Undertaker.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> The holding one strap of Faarooq’s Intercontinental Championship.....holding it high over the Nation’s heads like a banner as they march to the ring......</p><p> </p><p> .....the group climb between the ropes and stand en-mass as one, before Faarooq brings out a microphone......asking the crowd if they can tell him what’s wrong with this picture? I’ll tell you why.......because the WWF Intercontinental Championship is owned by MY black ass, that’s why......”</em></p><p> </p><p> ......Faarooq says says that even with Championship Gold around their waists, the Nation of Domination STILL don’t get any respect.....the Nation of Domination STILL don’t get to perform on Pay Per View.....and even with Championship Gold around their waists, these scumbag fans in attendance STILL boo the Nation of Domination.....because they’re all a bunch of New York trash, who like their Champions to have a slightly paler complexion..........he continues spewing venom at the fans......but the fans seem to be concentrating on something else........as two figures are making their way through the crowd.....not that we can see who they are, because they are surrounded by rowdy New Yorkers.....although by the time they reach the front row, it’s clear exactly who they are........</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> they have a microphone of their own......they don’t actually climb over the barricade.....instead they stay in the crowd, mobbed by these (surprisingly) rowdy fans, who are clearly pleased to see them......</p><p> </p><p> .....Booker tells Faarooq that they’ve had to sit back now for MONTHS and listen to the crap he’s spewed out of his mouth, but he and his brother are here and they’re here in the WWF to tell the Nation of Domination one thing......and that’s the fact that.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>”.......Sucka, these people don’t boo you because you’re black.......these people boo you because you’re a jackass.......”</em></p><p> </p><p> .......obviously the crowd pops huge for that, but Booker ain’t finished....telling Faarooq that not only is he a jackass, he’s a whiny little b!tch and someone needs to shut his mouth for good......</p><p> </p><p> .....obviously seeing as there’s five of them and only two Harlem Heat members, Faarooq feels pretty brave, telling Booker that if he wants to shut his mouth so bad, then why don’t they come in this ring and try and make him.....and to their credit it looks as though Booker and Stevie are considering it.....before they can hop the rail however a group of security guards come running out from the back to halt their advance, with Booker finally telling Faarooq that it’s all good, they’re just going to hang in the crowd with Big Boss Man fought Nailz way back when......and if it’s NOT the first pole match since then, well then the rest were obviously so bad I have erased them from my own memory......Al Snow has been on a free fall since his confidante and companion Head was....well, Headnapped for lack of a better term....by Edge and Christian......such a free fall in fact that his reluctant partner Chris Candido is even keen to reunite Head and Snow, just to raise Al’s questionable behaviour back up to a level he can live with......</p><p> </p><p> ......Edge and Christian have gone through somewhat of a metamorphosis as of late too, with Head apparently bringing out a personality and charisma in the pair that was previously unseen, and as such, these two teams have been slowly chugging along, getting themselves over with the crowd as they go, and what was originally planned to be a silly bit of filler between the King of the Ring Semi and Final match, actually turned out to be a pretty decent match......</p><p> </p><p> ......Candido must be secretly relieved that he is part of this odd couple, because he’d hit a bit of a roadblock in his WWF career, finding himself lost in the shuffle of a pretty packed Midcard....and Al Snow’s “entertaining” antics have certainly breathed new life into Candido’s ability on the mic, because while he’s still not the best talker, he’s certainly improved since the inception of this new team, and in all honestly, must have one eye on the new WWF Tag Team Champions, the New Age Outlaws......</p><p> </p><p> .....but anyway, the match.....the rules were pretty simple.....climb the pole, get Head......use Head......win the match......and that’s exactly what happened, with those dastardly Canadians getting their just desserts......with Al retrieving Head......but being reluctant to use her as a weapon it was Candido snatching her from his hands and cracking Christian in the skull with her that granted them the pinfall victory.</p><p> </p><p> set to main event Summerslam, will be either Ahmed Johnson.......or the Undertaker.....although both of those facts may well be lost on these two......who have been looking for an opportunity to tear each other apart since Ahmed cost the Undertaker a victory against his brother Kane back at Wrestlemania......Undertaker as payback for that loss, while Ahmed Johnson simply wants to prove that he’s the Biggest Bad here in the WWF.....and what better way to prove it, than by taking out the Deadman.....especially if by taking out the Deadman he becomes the King of the Ring in the process.....because just ask Steve Austin what that title does for your career.....</p><p> </p><p> ......and if you don’t think Ahmed was serious when he told the world that he couldn’t wait to get his hands on the Phenom, you have to look no further than the entrance of this match.....because Ahmed Johnson is out of the Ring and running up the aisle to start brawling with his opponent before the Deadman gets so far as ten feet from the curtains....(which Rick Rude likes, stating that the Undertaker has used that elaborate entrance as an intimidation factor for years now......well, Ahmed Johnson isn’t intimidated by the Deadman, and he’s proved that right there)......</p><p> </p><p> .......the Undertaker shrugs off his hat and coat and fires right back with rights and lefts as these two men brawl down the aisle and around the ringside area before the official can even ring the bell to get this one underway.....in fact Jim Ross goes as far as to say that if these two men don’t make it into the ring soon, this official may well just throw this whole match out......</p><p> </p><p> .......fortunately that doesn’t happen, and the two men do finally manage to roll into the right, still laying into each other with rights and lefts as they go.....and now this one DOES finally get underway......but to be fair, the match isn’t anymore pretty than the pre-match, as this was just an out and out fight from start to finish.....neither man backing down, neither man giving an inch.....and neither man letting a punch in the face stop them from delivering one of their own.....given the amount of action involved, (that and the ridiculously large number of bouts scheduled for tonight) this wasn’t an overly long match.....but it was long enough for the crowd to get into it......and it was a good match......hampered slightly by the finish........</p><p> </p><p> .......which saw Jim Cornette hop up onto the apron, just as the Undertaker wraps his big hand around the neck of Ahmed, looking to Chokeslam him straight to Hell......because of Cornette’s distraction however, the official failed to see Ahmed deliver a stiff low blow to the Deadman (his second of the night, Kevin Nash is still talking in falsetto) and he also failed to see Ahmed pick up his managers strategically placed ever-present tennis racquet......which means he also fails to see Ahmed drive said racquet straight into the throat of the Undertaker, who drops to the mat frantically clawing at his larynx.....</p><p> </p><p> ......Jim Ross screams that Ahmed Johnson has just crushed the windpipe of the Deadman......and he may be right, because the Undertaker certainly appears to be having difficulty breathing......difficulty made even harder when he has the wind driven out of his body by a huge Pearl River Plunge from his opponent........and three seconds later, Ahmed Johnson has done the unthinkable. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> .....and 1997 King of the it’s quite a surreal sight to see the Phenom of the World Wrestling Federation stretchered out of the arena, breathing apparatus attached.....unable to leave the ring without help......and a helpless Undertaker is a sight that NOBODY thought they would ever see.....</p><p> </p><p> ......Dok Hendrix joins Ahmed and Cornette in the ring, along with the ceremonial crown, robe and sceptre.....as he questions the lengths that Ahmed Johnson will stoop to in order to win this match.......Cornette tells Hendrix (and the World) that there is NOTHING that Ahmed Johnson won’t do to prove that he’s the baddest man in the World Wrestling Federation.......and there is NOTHING that Ahmed Johnson won’t do at Summerslam.....to become the World Wrestling Federation Champion......</p><p> </p><p> ......and as King Ahmed regales himself in his Royal outfit, Cornette says that no matter who wins tonight’s Championship match, they’re still going to be a loser......because just like Kevin Nash found and Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner attempt to tear each other apart.......and it’s interesting (planned actually) that these three should meet here tonight, almost one year to the day that the World Wrestling Federation fans sat up and took notice of each man......Scott Steiner in his career making display against then WWF Champion Shawn Michaels.......Steve Austin as he defeated the British Bulldog, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Bret “The Hitman” Hart in the same night to capture the King of the Ring Crown.......and Brian Pillman, who in a sign of things to come, screwed over so-called friend Bret Hart, costing him the match and kickstarting the real Loose Cannon character that has lead to him becoming the number two heel in the entire company, second only to Shawn Michaels.....</p><p> </p><p> .....and for Brian Pillman, the match went right as you would expect......well......almost......(but more about that later).......because the moment the bell rang Steve Austin and Scott Steiner absolutely flew at each other, picking right up where they left off these past few weeks.....and the crowd love it, regardless of the fact that these are two of the most popular wrestlers in the World Wrestling Federation (in fact, despite the fact that Scott Steiner is the WWF Champion, Steve Austin has just cemented his place as the number one babyface around here, and the number two guy in the entire company behind only....again.....Shawn Michaels)....</p><p> </p><p> .....obviously both Austin and Steiner know how to brawl, they’ve been doing it for practically a month straight now after all......and they inflict some serious damage on one another both in and out of the ring.....and considering that both men’s original problems lay with Brian Pillman, the Corporate Cannon has seemingly been forgotten here.....so much so that he actually takes up situ at the commentary table for a while, revelling in the punishment that his competitors are inflicting each other....while at the same time discussing the finer points of the Hangman’s Neckbreaker that he has adopted as his own with Ravishing Rick Rude, the man who made that move famous.....</p><p> </p><p> .......obviously it was only a matter of time however before Brian Pillman’s crowing got the better of him.....because with Austin and Steiner laying blows on each other in front of the commentary table, both men suddenly stop and turn.......and as the Corporate Cannon’s eyes bulge out of his head......and he actually mutters an audible <em>”....oh sh!t....”</em> over the headset......Austin and Steiner both reach over the desk and drag Pillman over the top of the table to the floor......where they take it in turns to beat the living crap out of him, bouncing him around like a pinball.......Pillman tries to escape back into the ring, but he only makes it as far as the apron, before Austin hooks his ankle to halt his escape.......and with nowhere for him to go, Scott Steiner comes charging across the ring, sending Brian flying off the apron and crashing through the announce table with a big shoulder block, that takes Pillman out of the equation.......</p><p> </p><p> .......with the big mouth of the Corporate Cannon finally shut up for two minutes, their temporary truce is forgotten, as Steiner and Austin resume their battle........and a match that was shaping up to be a true classic, was suddenly derailed by its ending............</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> triple threat encounters are generally no disqualification, so there’s not a lot the official can do about it.......and out of the wreckage of broken wood on the outside crawls Brian <p>So that was King of the Ring......and while the event was a huge success, I’m not going to lie, I was a little disappointed with it.....and in fairness I only have myself to blame. The show was so packed to the gills with potential huge matches that it could have been amazing, but I way overbooked the card and didn’t give half of the guys enough time to go out there and really showcase what they can do......there was a few angles that should have been cut.....and ideally the Al Snow/Candido/Edge/Christian match could have been done with being dropped from the card entirely, but that storyline needed to reach a conclusion, and the four men involved deserved for that to be on Pay Per View......but a pole match.....what was I thinking......I only made that stipulation to begin with to shut Vince Russo up, who’d been banging on to book any kind of pole match for months now.....and how does he repay me? By running off to the competition.....god damn Judas that he is......and the Legion of Doom are no better, both coming up to mehours before the show demanding their release......and you know what, I’m so sick of their sh!t that I gave it to them......bye Hawk......bye bye Animal.....go and cause problems for someone else, because I have Raw to book.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong>Preview for WWF Raw is War, Week 4, June 1997</strong> </p><p> </p><p> Scott Steiner, Steve Austin & The British Bulldog vs. The Hart Foundation & Chris Jericho</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WWF Intercontinental Championship Match</strong></p><p> Faarooq vs. Barry Windham</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> Ahmed Johnson vs. Kokina</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> Ken Shamrock vs. Justin Credible</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WWF Tag Title #1 Contenders Match</strong></p><p> The Hardy Boys vs. Southern Justice</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WWF Light Heavyweight #1 Contenders Match</strong></p><p> Dean Malenko vs. Rey Mysterio</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong>Preview for WCW Nitro, Week 4, June 1997</strong> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>WCW Championship Quarter-Final Match</strong></p><p> Sting vs. Randy Savage</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WCW Championship Quarter-Final Match</strong></p><p> The Giant vs. Jean Paul Levesque</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WCW United States Championship Quarter-Final Match</strong></p><p> Diamond Dallas Page vs. Buff Bagwell</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WCW United States Championship Quarter-Final Match</strong></p><p> Mike Awesome vs. Bam Bam Bigelow</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WCW United States Championship Quarter-Final Match</strong></p><p> Chris Benoit vs. VK Wallstreet</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WCW Tag Team Championship Quarter-Final Match</strong></p><p> The Blue Bloods (Earl Robert Eaton & The Duke Douglas Williams) vs. ???/???</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong>Uncrewed - 4 (20:31)</strong></p><p> Nobby McDonald - 4 (24:31)</p><p> Kijar - 4 (24:36)</p><p> StarshipAwesome - 4 (30:00)</p><p> bonnie - 3</p><p> crackerjack - 3</p><p> ElectricX - 3</p><p> kingvps3 - 3</p><p> Beejus - 2</p><p> Mattitude90 - 2</p><p> Satyr24 - 2</p><p> Smasher1311 - 2</p><p> SomeLazyMagic - 2</p><p> James Casey - 0</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Congratulations (I believe) to Uncrewed, who I shall be contacting to find out which lucky superstars will be heading down south, just edging the victory on the tiebreaker question.....special congratulations to Kijar who was the only one to correctly pick the KOTR winner, and Nobby for being the only one to correctly choose the no contest.....and since this was such an unpredictable card to pick from, I think both men deserve something for that.....so you both too can pick one guy each to send to Turner, I shall be in touch shortly......please feel free to check your scores guys because quite frankly that was a lot of matches to trawl through, and thank you to anybody that predicted, especially anyone who added comments, it’s always nice to hear why you think someone is going to win</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="crackerjack" data-cite="crackerjack" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>WWF Tag Team Championship Match<p> <strong>The Hart Foundation ©</strong> vs. The New Age Outlaws</p><p> Comments: <strong><em>Unless Bulldog screws them over, Harts keep it</em></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> King of the Ring: Final Match</p><p> Nash/Ahmed/Cactus/Goldust vs. Taker/HBK/Sid/<strong>Raven</strong></p><p> Comments:<strong> </strong><strong><em>... <p>I probably should have banked on Ahmed to win, but it looked like he had issues with Taker to clear up at Summerslam... which is why I had gone with Goldust, who was the only heel who could be free by then to go after the World title. Ah well, it should still be some big matches lined up, can't wait to see where you go with the Harts now especially.</p><p> </p><p>

Harts and Jericho - <em>Canadian contingent gets the big win to put them at the top of the map.</em></p><p>

Faarooq - <em>Stealing the Heat now too, WCW are definitely screwed! That's pretty much the only good team in their tag division in 97!</em></p><p>

Ahmed Johnson - <em>No plunges to be seen here but for sure a victory.</em></p><p>

Ken Shamrock</p><p>

Hardy Boys</p><p>

Rey Mysterio</p><p> </p><p>

Sting - <em>One thing I will give Russo, he did always seem like he was trying to book Sting nice and strong. Except he did it by turning him heel on Hogan and then putting him against a midcard stable of Vampiro, Demon, and Muta.</em></p><p>

JPL</p><p>

DDP</p><p>

Mike Awesome</p><p>

Chris Benoit</p><p>

??? - <em>Yeah, gotta be the LOD. Hey, now you get to book the Road Warriors while they're happy with you again! See why it's so fun running both companies?</em></p>
