A new generation.....a new attitude?

Hello, my names Matthew and I'm an alcoho.....oh wait, wrong group.....let me try that again....Hi, my names Matthew and you've never heard of me. Well you have, but not in the way you think. Confused? Not as confused as you will be. Let me try and explain.

To understand the present day and the journey that got us here, we really need to start in the past. So let me take you back to where it all begins, way back in 1995. The wrestling world in 1995 to be precise. Now I don't know if you're old enough to have lived through what is arguably the worst year in professional wrestling history, but if you did you know what I mean and if you didn't....well, lucky you for one....but I'll explain the worst of it here. Let's start at the top and by the top I mean the top two men in the two major American companies, the Champions, the figureheads you might say. First of all WCW, where the icon that is Hulk Hogan held the top prize for the majority of the year. Nothing wrong with that right? I mean, Hogan is a legend, he immortalised the business, bought it into the mainstream and was beloved by wrestling fans worldwide....right? Well yes....and no. Yes Hogan is a living legend and yes, he immortalised the business and bought professional wrestling into the mainstream, but beloved by all? Not quite.

See Hogans reputation had already taken quite the hit from the steroid scandal that hit the WWF in the early 90's, then there was the way he politicked his way to another World Championship run in 1993, beating the "dominating" champion Yokozuna in about 30 seconds, turning down a programme with the man who had been carrying the company in his absence, Bret Hart and finally not even appearing on TV during his title reign until he dropped the belt back to Yokozuna at the King of the Ring (by dubious means obviously.) This stellar run was followed up with a year away from the sport to film his TV show Thunder in Paradise, only to reemerge in the competition, WCW in mid 94.

Well that's good right? Change of scenery, fresh storylines, fresh opponents, fresh challenges? It would have been, apart from two things....nothing was fresh and he wasn't Ric Flair. Instead of embracing the new and relishing the challenge, Hogan quickly squashed the two top heels in Flair and Vader and then systematically bought in his inner circle like a comfort blanket, leaving WCW looking like WWF lite before too long......and if that wasn't bad enough, the WCW crowds simply didn't warm to Hogan. They had their Hogan, his name was The Nature Boy, Wooooooo, Ric Flair.....and if Flair didn't whet your whistle, well there was another young man from Venice Beach who went by the name of Sting, why did they need Hogan? He was the enemy for god sake.

So coming into 1995 you had a lukewarm champion, facing of against second rate, recycled opponents, over coming the insurmountable odds and triumphing over evil.....would have been great 5 years ago, and it got no better as the year went on. You had a dungeon of doom, a Yeti, a Giant, a Mummy, a Loch Ness Monster, a Zodiac whatever that is, an Ultimate Warrior rip off called The Renegade, you had Ric Flair in drag, you had Ric Flair being pinned in a strap match between Hogan and Vader, you had an Alliance to end Hulkamania, you had a 60 man, 3 ring battle royal, in which there was so much action that you saw none of it.....all in all it was a pretty bad year.

On the flip side of the coin we had the WWF, where Diesel had gone from a kick ass and take no names tough guy that the fans got behind, to a WWF Champion, to Hulk Hogan 2.0, complete with hulking up. He faced Sid in what would have been the most boring PPV main events in history, had it not been for the fact that that title was taken later in the year when he battled "King" Mabel. The main event of Wrestlemania featured a football player, Shawn Michaels went coast to coast in the royal rumble, entering at number one....his record setting time? Considering Flair went over an hour in 92 after coming in at number 3? 38 minutes....that's right, half of what Ric Flair lasted. Bret Hart, arguable one of the best wrestlers in the company wrestled a kiss my foot match, a dentist and a pirate. A Million Dollar Corporation that won nothing and looked like Million Dollar idiots, Pig Farmers, Garbage men, Man o' Wars, Avatars.....I mentioned the dentist and pirate right? To cut a long story short, wrestling sucked.

Fortunately for Vince McMahon, he had something that WCW didn't....no not Star Power, WCW had that in abundance....what he did have, was the power to change. He knew something had to give, he knew the cartoon, colourful, hokey cokey product wasn't cutting it any more, he just didn't know what to do about it. He was surrounded by yes men, who told him that everything he came out with was gold, what he needed was someone not afraid to call him out.....someone with some edge....what he needed, was me.

Now I know what you're thinking, "why the hell would Vincent Kennedy McMahon need a nobody like me?" Well first and foremost, I loved this sport.....LOVED it, I'd been a fan all my life and I knew it in and out, back to front......"ok" you're thinking, so do I, what makes you so special? Well the second reason is quite simple, I had nothing to lose by calling Vince out. See I already worked for the WWF, I was a writer.....for WWF Magazine.....and I HATED it. Well I say writer, writer is a kind of loose term. I did write for the magazine, problem was that I wrote the answers to the letter page.....you know the ones

"Dear WWF Magazine. I was recently watching the latest edition of WWF Mania, and was sickened by the actions of that dastardly Jerry Lawler and his mean old dentist Isaac Yankem. They should both be fined/fired/shot/hung drawn and quartered immediately.

Sincerely yours,

Dwight from Kentucky."

So yeah.....I wanted to quit. But I've never been much of a quitter, I've always been more of a burn all your bridges and get fired kind of guy. So I started to have fun. I knew no one cared about the letters page, I knew no one read them before they went to print, so I started answering the questions really, really.....really truthfully. When people asked what needed changing in the WWF, I told them....when someone questioned a stupid decision, I agreed with them and told them what I would have done instead.....I basically played armchair quarterback on the pages of the WWF Magazine and I loved every minute. That is until around October of 1995. That's the day I met Vince McMahon for the first time. I'll never forget his first words to me, they were truly inspiring......."are you the

fu###ng idiot that's been fu###ng about with my magazine?"

Finally, I was going to get fired and meet Vince McMahon all in the same day.....today is a good day. Everyone scrambled about apologising for me, saying I'd never work in the magazine again, saying this would never happen again, blah, blah, blah. Vince said they were damn right, I never would work for the magazine again.....because I was getting promoted to the booking team. As Vince continued talking you could almost hear the collective jaws in the room hitting the floor. Vince told everyone that THIS was what was missing from the WWF.....balls, attitude. Vince wanted someone working with him, who wasn't going to smile and say all his ideas were great. What he wanted was me.

Except there was a problem....well, there were two. The first problem was, as Sting would say (no not that Sting, the other one) I was an Englishman in New York. Not that that was a major problem, Vince had enough legal power behind him to ensure my work Visa with WWF Magazine was transferred over to a more general WWFE contracted Work Visa, this now meant I was an official WWF employee.....the bigger problem was something not so simply solved. See there was a reason I'd left the UK in the first place, and that reason was Tommy Comerford. "Who?" I hear you ask. Tommy Comerford was an organised crime figure back in the UK. Tommy was a wrong 'un with a finger in a lot of pies, mainly narcotics and drug trafficking, Comerford was one of the first criminals to establish an international drug trafficking network in England.....he was very wealthy, very powerful, very dangerous.....and very much in prison....because of me. Long story short, my testimony put away one of the biggest crime figures of the 80's and early 90's, and he wanted my head.....literally. Now as an anonymous magazine writer (I wasn't even credited for my Pulitzer worth letter page in the magazine) that was fine. But as a writer for the WWF creative team, it would only be a matter of time before at least one mention of me was made somewhere. One of the dirt sheets, this new fangled internet thing, sooner or later either my name or my face would pop up somewhere and that terrified me (I'm rather attached to my head after all and I wanted it to stay that way.) </p><p> </p><p>

Except Vince being Vince, had a plan and he wasn't someone used to not getting what he wanted. He wanted me on the booking team, and he was going to have me on the booking team one way or another. He guaranteed me total anonymity, nothing more than a name on the payroll....he even went so far as to hire a patsy....a man that could be seen in interviews and photographs....he hired someone who could be the voice of my ideas, someone who could be credited with my success....or my failure....he hired a man who already knew my position and need for secrecy, because I already worked with him....he hired this man....</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/image_zpsgippi2wb.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

.....Vince Russo, to basically play the part of me.</p><p> </p><p>

Yeah you know him don't you. To be fair, old Vinnie Ru wasn't a bad guy, I liked him, but he didn't have a clue what he was doing when it came to booking anything. Vince Russo, for all the good you heard of him in the WWF, was nothing more than the highest paid body double in history. Every single idea you ever heard credited to him while he worked for Titan, good and bad, came from me. Years later, WCW would go on to hire him as the saviour of the company, thinking he'd actually been the one bringing success to McMahon and the WWF.....and left to his own devices, his own ideas, his own storylines?.....well, let's just say we will cover that when we get there.....but Vince Russo made himself a lot of money, made himself a household name in the wrestling community and landed a job with the competition that he was no where near qualified for, all off the back of my ideas.</p><p> </p><p>

But I digress, I'm sure you all know well enough about Vince Russo's path post WWF, let's talk about what happened when he/I started in creative. For starters, the main event needed a serious shake up. Diesel was stale, Bret Hart had been stuck in mid card feuds for the best part of a year, likewise The Undertaker. Razor Ramon was the intercontinental Champion.....again.....Shawn Michaels mouth had landed him in hot water and he was on the shelf after being on the receiving end of a serious beating from "9" thugs and Sid hadn't had a decent match all year.....we needed a heel, a strong heel.....we needed a bad ass and I had just the man in mind....a 450lb monster from the Rocky Mountains by the name of Vader. Unfortunately Eric Bischoff had the same idea....he also had the bigger cheque book which meant even though he spent most of 1995 jobbing to Hogan, Leon White inexplicably chose to sign with World Championship Wrestling instead of us (as did the Ultimate Warrior, but to be honest I wasn't too sad about that one. Warrior had name value and star quality oozing out of his face paint, but thinking back I'm not really sure where he would have fit into my vision.)</p><p> </p><p>

So anyway, it was back to the drawing board....I needed a monster heel, I needed a bad ass....and I had one right in front of me all along in the form of the WWF Champion Diesel, a man who had got over in the first place playing the bad ass, monster heel. Getting there was pretty easy and killed two birds in one stone because it got Bret Hart back where he belongs, in the main event. Bret beat Diesel in an excellent match at Survivor Series 1995, a match that really pushed the envelope for the WWF as it saw the Hitman get sent crashing through the announce table, something not really seen before in the WWF. After the loss, Diesel lost it, beat the hell out of the new Champion, and hey presto, a new monster heel is born. Fast forward to the Royal Rumble and Diesel has been growing more and more frustrated and after losing again in his rematch on RAW he snapped again, destroying the Hitman and Jackknifing him through a table at ringside. Diesel then took it upon himself to interfere in every one of the Hitman's title defences, confusing the Champion and everyone else, because it always helped Bret to retain. At the Royal Rumble, the Hitman is set to face The Deadman, will Diesel play a part?</p><p> </p><p>

Coming back from adversity and injury, Shawn Michaels is going against doctors orders and putting his name in the hat for the Royal Rumble match, which he claims he's going to win, before achieving his boyhood dream of becoming champion at Wrestlemania.</p><p> </p><p>

Razor Ramon is locked in a battle with the debuting star Goldust, with the pair scheduled to clash over the Intercontinental strap at the Rumble.</p><p> </p><p>

In comings and goings the WWF signed both Ron Simmons and Barry Windham to written deals, as well as 2 Cold Scorpio, Chris Jericho and a number of other cruiserweight wrestlers to kick start the new WWF Cruiserweight division, a division which will crown its first champion at the Rumble. Simmons has been re-christened Faarooq and has formed a stable with Kama and the unlikely duo of Mabel and Mo who have repackaged themselves as a more serious unit, going by the names Nelson Knight and Bobby Knight respectively. The group is going by the name of The Nation of Donination, and appear to be somewhat of a militant group. This was a major victory for me, because Vince had this gladiator gimmick set for Ron, complete with helmet and everything, so I was glad to be able to talk him out of it. Windham however has yet to even debut as I'm not really sure what to do with him....Vince signed Barry out of spite because WCW were sniffing around him and he was fed up of losing out to them. Barry is a great hand, but he's no spring chicken, I'm hoping to find some way to utilise him to his full potential eventually.</p><p> </p><p>

There's been no major leavings, although there has been some phasing out of the sillier acts, Duke Drose, Isaac Yankem etc haven't seen much TV time. Isaac is a decent worker for a big man though so I'm hoping to repackage him eventually. Both Marty Jannetty and Chris Candido have been sent to rehab after both turned up to work completely wasted on God knows what, they were both pretty pleased by the decision as they obviously want to get clean. It did however royally screw up the tag team scene, as Candido (as Skip) and his partner Zip were feuding with the Tag Team Champions the Smoking Gunns at the time, while we were experimenting with different partners with Marty to see if we could recapture that old "Rockers" spark.</p><p> </p><p>

Because of this we had to bolster the tag division a bit, which we did, bringing back the Harris Boys with Paul Ellering as a mouth piece because neither of them can talk a lick, as well as Henry Godwinns old tag team partner Dennis Knight who was renamed Phineas Godwinn. Owen Hart and Yokozuna had ran their course of a team as well, so Owen was paired with brother in law the British Bulldog and the pair are set to face the Gunns for the gold at the Rumble.</p><p> </p><p>

The Million Dollar Corporation were chasing Tag Team gold too, as the 123 Kid and Tatanka had taken to teaming, while The Ringmaster was locked in a vicious feud with Savio Vega, after Savio spurned the Million Dollar Mans offer to join the corporation.</p><p> </p><p>

I was really excited about the Rumble, it was the first of the "big four" PPVs I really placed my stamp on, because other than the title change at Survivor Series, I hadn't had much say in the event. That and the Rumble was my favourite event, even more so than Wrestlemania, and this one was all mine.....what could possibly go wrong?</p><p> </p><p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <span>http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/image_zpscefxxetx.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> I'll tell you what could go wrong. Your Intercontinental Champion could turn up to the event, drunk out of his mind and in absolutely no condition to perform. This is why they have that "card is subject to change" disclaimer there kids, for s##t like this. I was furious and the only reason that Ramon didn't find himself sharing a room with Jannetty and Candido in rehab, is because I need him to drop the strap first. Razor won the title after Shawn Michaels vacated it, I don't want to vacate it again, that's the ONLY thing that kept him away from Betty Ford. So Razor was sent home (or in reality he probably ended up at the nearest bar to the arena) and we were a match down. To try and cover for this we filmed a vignette of Goldust being hauled away by the cops, claiming that Ramon and The Bizarre one were so intent on getting their hands on each other that they had been brawling in the hotel before the event, security had called the cops and both men got to spend a night in the cells. Not ideal, but we weren't prepared for this. To try and plug the gap we had Ahmed Johnson take on Jeff Jarrett as the two had been trading insults for a few weeks. </p><p> </p><p> Other than that the rest of the Rumble went off without a hitch. 2 Cold Scorpio (or just Scorpio which is what he's going by here) won the newly minted WWF Light Heavyweight Championship, beating Avatar for the belt. After the match Scorpio was approached by Faarooq and the rest of the Nation, who offered him a spot in the group. Scorpio seemed apprehensive so Faarooq gave him 24 hours to make his decision.</p><p> </p><p> Owen Hart and The British Bulldog took the WWF Tag Team Titles off Champions The Smoking Gunns. Adding insult to injury, the duo from the dungeon decided to stick a beating on Billy and Bart after the match was over....a beating that was only stopped by the surprise return of The Steiner Brothers to the WWF, as Rick and Scott chased the dastardly duo away to a huge reception. </p><p> </p><p> In the replacement match of the night, Jeff Jarrett triumphed over the popular Ahmed Johnson, but it was anything but clean, as after the ref took a nasty spill, Double J nailed Ahmed with his guitar knocking the big man out long enough to pic up the victory.</p><p> </p><p> Then there was the Rumble itself, where against the odds Shawn Michaels made it back to back victories, finally eliminating Diesel with a quick Sweet Chin Music which sent the big man tumbling over the top rope. Diesel was far from happy with this outcome though, and when HBK offered his big buddy a handshake after the bout, Big Daddy Cool pie faced the new number one contender, shoving him hard to the mat, leaving him on his ass in the middle of the ring. </p><p> </p><p> Coming in at number 4 and lasting an impressive 46 minutes before being tossed by Diesel, Chris Jericho made everyone sit up and take notice in the rumble match. As did The Ringmaster and Hunter Hearst Helmsley, all 3 men look to have good futures with the company.</p><p> </p><p> In the main event of the evening The Hitman, Bret Hart successfully defended his WWF Title against The Undertaker, but not without controversy. The Deadman looked to have the Championship in the bag, especially when he had Hart positioned for the Tombstone. Before he could end the match though the worlds sorest loser made his way down the aisle, as Diesel positioned himself at ringside. The distraction was enough to take The Undertakers eye off the ball and as he was Jack Jawing over the top rope with Big Daddy Cool, The Hitman sneaked up behind him, rolling him up for the three count. It looked like things were heating up on the road to Wrestlemania.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" <p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> So the Rumble was in the bag and we were officially on the road to Wrestlemania....more importantly, my first Wrestlemania. The pressure should have been huge, this was Vince's baby, his go to event, THE event of the wrestling calendar. Sure, Starrcade might pre-date it but if you asked the average Joe on the streets to name a wrestling event I guarantee you that 9 out of 10 of them will say Wrestlemania. Fortunately for me I wasn't exactly following a stellar event for my first time. Wrestlemania XI the year previous had been a huge let down. The only decent match on the card was the Heavyweight Title match between Diesel and Shawn Michaels....and even that was horribly booked, with the crowd turning on the Babyface Champion for kicking out of his opponents finisher.....this was before kicking out of finishers was passé. Nowadays everyone and their mother kicks out of each other's finishing move (two or three times), but back then it just wasn't done. Then there was the main event of the evening.....the main event of the biggest show of the year, which featured a football player who couldn't wrestle defeating a (upper) midcarder who could. The way I saw it there was no way that I could produce anything worse than that.</p><p> </p><p> The biggest elephant in the room for me was Razor Ramon. Turning up impaired was one thing, but turning up so wasted that we can't even film a vignette with you to explain away a match was another. The last thing I wanted to be doing was re-writing shows at the last minute because Razor couldn't wait until after the event to get his buzz on. The answer to me was pretty obvious, we catch Razor sober, throw him on TV and have someone take the title off him....hell, do it on a house show, after all Vince was always saying that "anything can happen in the WWF" what better way to show that than the Intercontinental Championship changing hands....then ship Razor off to rehab where he can dry out.</p><p> </p><p> Apparently though I was the only one that thought that way, because Razor had no intention of going anywhere, Shawn Michaels was quick to question who the hell did I think I was to make that decision.....and Diesel told me in no uncertain terms that him and Shawn would get Razor straight and to butt out. This didn't surprise me, Razor, Shawn and Diesel were as tight as tight can be and along with The 123 Kid and Hunter Hearst Helmsley, they had formed a "kliq" backstage that seemed to have Vince wrapped around their little finger. They did what they wanted, wrestled who they wanted.....and won when they wanted, and Vince never seemed to question it....problem was, I wasn't Vince.</p><p> </p><p> Needless to say a meeting was called and before I knew it I was stood in a room with Vince McMahon, Shawn, Razor and Diesel, with all four of them telling me why Razor wouldn't be going to rehab. McMahon informed me that Razor had been severely admonished for his behaviour, and had given his word that it wouldn't happen again. I argued that Chris Candido and Marty Jannetty had said pretty much the same thing, and neither of them had been let out of a trip to the clinic. Diesel laughed at this, telling me that comparing Razor Ramon to a couple of vanilla midgets (? No I don't know what that means either) like Jannetty and Candido, was like comparing apples and oranges. He said that the WWF needed Razor Ramon on TV. I tried to argue that when you went around treating certain people differently than others, you ended up with a lot of resentful workers....Shawns counter to that was to tell me to "shut the f##k up." Such a delightful individual....needless to say I didn't take that very well and a shouting match ensued. I told Vince that the whole thing was bulls##t, Michaels told me that I should learn a little respect as well as when to keep my mouth shut.....I've never been good at keeping my mouth shut, that's why I loudly pointed out that Shawn was on his way to headline Wrestlemania and Diesel was on the hottest run of his career right now because of ME, because I booked them strongly, so maybe it was time someone started showing me some respect.....that was when the shouting really started.</p><p> </p><p> Finally Vince had heard enough, he asked Shawn, Diesel and Razor to leave so he could deal with this privately....great....a telling off from the boss was the last thing I needed after all of that. Surprisingly a telling off wasn't what I got. What I got was the real reason Vince didn't want to punish Ramon. Apparently both he and Diesel had contract renewals coming up, and Eric Bischoff was already sniffing around them. He told me that he understands my position and that at any other time he would agree with me, but the bottom line was that the WWF quite simply couldn't afford to lose either man to WCW right now. They already had Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Flair, Sting....they had all the big names that the casual fan knew, without losing two of the biggest stars on our roster to them too. Reluctantly I saw his point of view, I certainly didn't want to lose two of my main roster members.....Vince needed to keep them sweet, I got that.....i just needed to give them a hot enough storyline that they would be stupid to leave. How was I going to do that? Could I do that? Starting with the very next episode of RAW I was certainly going to try.</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Raw preview for Week 4 January 1996<p> </p><p> WWF Light Heavyweight Title</p><p> Scorpio vs Chris Jericho</p><p> </p><p> Faarooq/Kama vs The Godwinns</p><p> </p><p> Duke "The Dumpster" Droese vs The Ringmaster</p><p> </p><p> WWF Tag Team Titles</p><p> Owen Hart/British Bulldog vs The Smoking Gunns</p><p> </p><p> WWF Intercontinental Title</p><p> Razor Ramon vs Jeff Jarrett</p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

Loving the backstory for all of this, excited to read more. The backstage politics always seems like the most interesting part of wrestling in the 90s for me so hoping you keep it up. I can imagine the Kliq either leaving or you eventually letting them go to WCW because they could be toxic for you backstage and just a pain the ass</p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/GJwrLWt.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Week 4 Jan</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><p> The show opens with a montage of still images from last nights Royal Rumble event accompanied by the dulcet tones of Vince McMahon running down the results of the show, shamelessly shilling the encore presentation for anyone who might have missed the excitement. The stills end with an image of Shawn Michaels celebrating after winning his second consecutive Royal Rumble match and guaranteeing his place in the main event of Wrestlemania XII.</p><p> </p><p> The King and Vince McMahon are at the announce desk where they inform the viewers that tonight, not only is it Monday Night Raw, it's Monday Night Raw's Title Turmoil, as we have 3, yes 3 title matches as a rare treat for the loyal viewers, and as if that wasn't enough,The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels will be here live and in person to address his impressive victory from last night. Vince swoons over HBK but The King is more concerned about discussing Diesel, saying that Shawn Michaels might not make it to Wrestlemania if Big Daddy Cool has his way. McMahon argues that after costing The Undertaker the WWF Title last night and interfering in yet another of Bret Harts Title defences, that Diesel might have bigger problems to worry about that HBK winning the Rumble. Just then the lights go out and the ominous music of The Undertaker begins to play as The Phenom makes his way to the ring, accompanied by his portly manager Paul Bearer. The pair climb into the squared circle to address the crowd.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="rnLgWN8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rnLgWN8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="nspMb1F.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/nspMb1F.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Paul Bearer tells the crowd that there has been a miscarriage of justice here in the WWF, that his Undertaker should be stood here now as the WWF World Champion and the only reason that he's not is because of one man and one man only....Diesel. Undertaker get the mic and informs Big Daddy Cool that he made his gravest mistake getting involved in his match and costing him the World Title and that if he doesn't begin to make some wiser decisions then he may find himself resting in peace.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="8mYpag9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8mYpag9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> This brings out the man himself as Diesel makes his way to the ring. He gets up close and personal in the face of the Undertaker before smirking at him and backing off a few paces. He tells the Deadman to take a chill pill, that what happened last night was nothing personal, just business. He says he's sick and tired of being treated like a joke around here and that its high time people started to take him seriously. He says that "Diesel" toed the company line for too long and all he got to show for it was a mediocre title run with second rate opponents and slap in the face from management that tried to castrate him and make him into a baby kissing goody two shoes loser....he says that "Diesel" may have been treated like a joke, but you're all going to take Kevin Nash very seriously....and everyone will see how serious he is because no one....not The Undertaker, not Razor Ramon and certainly not Shawn Michaels....is taking that WWF Title from Bret Hart before Big Daddy Cool, Big Sexy....Kevin Nash. </p><p> </p><p> The two near 7 footers go face to face and look to be about to come to blows before the screeching guitar signals the arrival of the WWF Champion Bret "The Hitman" Hart, who makes his way down to the already crowded ring to let his feelings on the situation be known </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="FxGHYUx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FxGHYUx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> He tells the crowd that he's getting a little bit sick and tired of being an after thought around here, he is the WWF World Champion and it's time he was treated with the respect that comes with that. He tells the newly christened Kevin Nash that if he wanted to get his attention he's got it, because he's sick and tired of Nash constantly interfering in his matches. He says he took the title from him at Survivor Series, and he successfully defended it against him on the first Raw of 1996, he will happily make it 3 for 3 any time Nash wants another shot....and The Undertaker and Paul Bearer are being too presumptuous thinking that the only reason Taker isn't the Champion now is because of Nash. Bret says he's never needed help to defend his title before and he doesn't need it now, at the next PPV, In Your House, Bret says he will put the title on the line against the Deadman one more time....and to ensure that there are no interferences....it'll be inside a steel cage.</p><p> </p><p> Bret drops the mic and leaves the ring leaving Taker looking pleased, while Kevin Nash looks furious that The Deadman has another title shot as we go to commercial. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A*</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="VVW29pq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VVW29pq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="jXHkJuN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jXHkJuN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="eLDIoSz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eLDIoSz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The first match of the night is a title match as the new WWF Light Heavyweight Champion 2 Cold Scorpio puts the gold on the line against a young man who had an impressive showing last night in the Royal Rumble match...coming in at number 4 and lasting for 46 minutes before finally being tossed out by Kevin Nash...."Lionheart" Chris Jericho. This was another impressive display by the youngster, going toe for toe with the more experienced champion and even looked like he was going to take home the gold on more than one occasion. A good match however was spoiled by the ending as Faarooq and Kama made their way to ringside, distracting the referee long enough for Nelson and Bobby Knight to jump Jericho and for the big 500 pounder to destroy the challenger with a big splash. He returns to the centre of the ring where Faarooq raises his fist in the Nations salute, the other members follow suit followed finally by Scorpio, signalling his new allegiance. <p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> All in all it was a pretty good show, apart from two minor things. The first being that Kama and Faarooq did not gel at all as a team, their timing was all over the place. Luckily they aren't going to be tagging on a regular basis, that will be Bobby and Nelson picking up most of the tag team slack for the Nation. The second minor thing.......having to re-write the f###ing show at the last minute.....again....because of Razor....AGAIN! Oh he showed up sober today, so you've got to give him props for that, problem was that I wanted him to drop the IC title to Jarrett.....and he didn't want to drop the IC title to Jarrett....or lose to Jarrett.....or draw with Jarrett....and since according to Vince, what Razor wants, Razor gets.....at least until he's signed the next three years or so of his life over to the World Wrestling Federation and not WCW.</p><p> </p><p> So that meant another last minute scramble to put together a coherent ending to the match. It worked and the crowd was happy with the result so I suppose that's the main thing....but I don't like being told how to book my shows, especially by the people I'm supposed to be booking. On a more positive note, Kevin Nash took me to one side after Raw had gone off the air. He told me he was really pleased with the direction we had gone with him recently as he felt like he'd spent the last year spinning his wheels and getting nowhere. He also said he'd do his best to keep Shawn and Razor in line, but push comes to shove they're his boys and he's always going to have their back first and foremost. You can't argue with that I suppose, The Kliq might be a pain in the ass to deal with and may generally act like a bunch of d##ks, but at least Nash is honest about it. Can't fault a d##k who tells you he's probably going to act like a d##k.</p><p> </p><p> As for the competition, they have got some strange booking decisions going on. They clearly plan on having Monday Nitro as their flagship show, and yet their Saturday Night show is out performing it week in and week out. Take this week for example, on Nitro they had Arn Anderson go over Hulk Hogan by DQ in a pretty lack lustre match, and Harlem Heat defending the WCW Tag Titles against the Blue Bloods.....where as on Saturday Night their World Champion Ric Flair went to the time limit with The Giant in a really good match, Dean Malenko took the United States Title away from the lumbering One Man Gang (good decision in my opinion) and an intense red hot angle when Hulk Hogan and The Warrior came face to face for the first time in nearly 4 years. The only odd decision was booking Hogan to face someone called Big Train Bart (yeah I have no idea who that is either.) As far as I'm concerned though if they want to put all their effort into Saturday's at 6:05 then that's all the better for me, because Monday nights will belong to the WWF.....speaking of which.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><p> <strong>Preview for Monday Night Raw, Week 1 February 1996.</strong></p><p> </p><p> The Smoking Gunns vs The 123 Kid & Tatanka.</p><p> </p><p> Bobby Knight vs Chris Jericho</p><p> </p><p> Bob Holly vs Zip (of the Bodydonnas)</p><p> </p><p> Savio Vega vs Sycho Sid</p><p> </p><p> Razor Ramon & Ahmed Johnson vs Goldust & Jeff Jarrett</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p>

The youngster is laid in an unnatural looking angle, with the splintered shards of a broken table surrounding him. The medical crew are rushing around attending to the Portuguese Man o' War, supporting his neck as best they can while the officials are attempting to form a line of defence in front of him. The camera pans back just in time to see Kevin Nash smile and flick his hair back before walking away from the chaotic scene as the opening credits finally begin to play.</p><p> </p><p> The opening sequence finishes and we go straight to the announce booth where Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler are on commentary. Vince is somber as he reports that Aldo Montoya is currently being transferred to a local medical facility for treatment on what looks to be a damaged neck. Even the King is minus his usual tactless comments, saying that his sources are telling him that it was Kevin Nash that attacked the youngster, going to far as to powerbomb the man through a table. Vince looks disgusted and says that WWF President Gorilla Monsoon needs to do something about the recent actions of Nash. </p><p> </p><p> Almost on cue the music for the man of the hour starts to play as Big Daddy Cool....or should that be Big Sexy....Kevin Nash starts to play. It takes a moment but the big man finally emerges from the back, stopping every few seconds to glance behind him, shaking his head almost in disbelief before getting in the ring and grabbing a mic. He tells the crowd that they wouldn't believe what he's just seen in the back, he says he was just walking by, minding his own business, when that "young up and comer Aldo Montoya just slipped on a puddle of water....and fell straight through a wooden table....what a waste, such potential maybe wiped out by a simple workplace accident." </p><p> He stops for a moment to compose himself before continuing, saying that this is exactly the sort of unsafe working environment that could be avoided if he was the WWF Champion, because not only would he be the champion of the World Wrestling Federation, he would be the champion of the people....and the champion for all the boys in the back....so to put a stop to any further "accidents" happening around here, Bret Hart should make his way to this ring right now, with a referee in toe, take his ass kicking like a man, and then when that final bell rings, and Kevin Nash is your new Champ...."everyone is going to be just that much safer."</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="YMbnf57.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YMbnf57.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> With that out comes, not the WWF Champion, but the WWF President, Gorilla Monsoon. Nash looks a little confused as Gorilla gets into the ring with a microphone and asks him what he's doing out here. Monsoon tells Nash that while the Hitman may well be a fighting Champion, and he may well have told Nash he could have another shot at the title any time, any place, "the fact of the matter is that all Title Matches have to go through me as the President of the World Wrestling Federation before they are authorised and made official....and you Mr Nash, due to your recent actions, choices and decisions...you, I'm sorry to say.....are NOT getting a Championship opportunity any time soon."</p><p> </p><p> Nash is irate at this, and Gorilla looks as though he may be in for a rough night as Big Daddy Cool advances menacingly towards him. Monsoon however manages to halt the big man, telling him not to do something they will both end up regretting. He says that Nash could be the man around here, a dominant Champion like no other, but until he stops placing his hands on people in the back, in this ring and anywhere else other than during the confines of a sanctioned match, he can forget about a World Title shot, or any Title shot full stop....he tells Nash that he will follow the rules around here, or suffer the consequences.</p><p> </p><p> Nash looks angry, but only for a second before raising his hands in mock surrender. He tells Monsoon that he might want to heed his own warning...."because if Big Sexy doesn't get what he wants.....well.....lets just say it won't be Kevin Nash that suffers the consequences....it'll be the entire WWF locker room....and how's that gonna feel on your conscience Monkey Man?" </p><p> </p><p> With that Nash shoves his microphone into Monsoons chest and exits the ring over the top rope to head to the back. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="KMJ08GR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KMJ08GR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="zEp3Eup.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zEp3Eup.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs. <img alt="CFe97xQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CFe97xQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="EKU4x.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/a/EKU4x.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The Smoking Gunns are keen to get back to winning ways here after their disappointing showings the last few weeks, but the Million Dollar Corporation are just as keen to add some gold to their account and a victory here would have put them one step closer to a Tag Team Title shot. Bart tries to come to the aid of his "brother" but he fares no better as Windham Irish whips him across the ring, straight into a huge lariat from the mystery man, which almost takes his head off his shoulders. The two men stand over their fallen victims for a moment, before Windham rolls to the outside and picks up the Gunns cowboy hats. Instead Sunny is fitted out in an elegant little black number which shows off all of her ample curves, in all of the right places. She gets on the microphone and tells Phatu that he must be stupid if he thought for one second that someone like her would be interested in managing someone like him. She says that with Skip on the injured list, there is only one man in the World Wrestling Federation worthy of her time, and that man....is Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Vince says that he has with him here, fresh from the desk of WWF President Gorilla Monsoon, the contract for the title match, ready for the two contestants to sign.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="FxGHYUx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FxGHYUx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rnLgWN8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rnLgWN8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Neither man wastes much time in getting to the ring, even the Undertakers usually methodical entrance doesn't take long (although his is minus his portly manager Paul Bearer so that may have helped his walking pace), as the two combatants are clearly eager to make this one official. Vince asks both men if either of them has anything to say and if they are both willing to go through with the cage match and the risks that are involved with said match. Vince tells them that once the contracts are signed, there's no backing out.</p><p> </p><p> Bret is first to speak, telling McMahon and The Undertaker that he wouldn't have requested a steel cage match in the first place if he had any plans on backing out. He tells The Undertaker that he respects him and he knows that it's going to be no easy feat, "but come In Your House, you, Kevin Nash, and all the great fans of the World Wrestling Federation....are going to see once and for all, who is conclusively, the best there is....the best there was....and the best there ever will be....and that's me, Bret The Hitman Hart." </p><p> </p><p> The Undertaker is next on the mic, he tells Bret that the only reason he is stood there today as the World Wrestling Federation Champion, is because Kevin Nash knows that he could never win the title from the Deadman, so made sure that Bret didn't lose it. He tells Bret to savour these last few weeks between now and the PPV, because make no mistake, when you step through that cage door Hitman, you're stepping through the gates of hell and I will make sure that you rest in peace.</p><p> </p><p> Both men sign the contract and the pair stare each other down briefly, where Bret can be heard telling the Undertaker not to confuse his respect for fear, he doesn't fear the Deadman. There looks to be a possibility that the two men may end up coming to blows before Vince stops the two men, telling The Undertaker that he's just been told in his ear piece that there has been a situation in the back. He yells to get a camera back there. </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="nspMb1F.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/nspMb1F.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The camera crew do indeed get there, just in time to find the fallen body of The Undertakers manager Paul Bearer. Just like Aldo Montoya earlier, he has clearly been assaulted and has clearly (judging by the amount of wooden debris surrounding him) been put through a table. King says on commentary that there was obviously another puddle of water back there that Bearer slipped on. The medical personnel arrive at roughly the same time as The Undertaker, who can only look on in rage as Bearer is treated and finally stretchered away to a waiting ambulance. Undertaker throws a few items around in anger before walking out of shot, screaming Kevin Nash's name.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A*</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="RysxCKJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RysxCKJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kbzSPDo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kbzSPDo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS <img alt="Ip6t6qd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Ip6t6qd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Y9FHBdx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Y9FHBdx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> This match was booked fresh on the heels of last weeks debacle, in which the Intercontinental Championship match descended into chaos. Razor and Ahmed seem happy enough to be teaming up, but Jeff Jarrett looks far from comfortable to be teaming with the bizarre Goldust, especially after Goldie rubs his hands over Jarretts back before tagging himself in the match. Goldust is full of confidence, right up until he walks into a stiff right hand from Razor which plants him on his rear. Goldust recoils in pain, and quickly crawls over to his corner on his hands and knees, where (still kneeling) he wraps his arms around Jarrett's waist and pulls him close for reassurance. Jarrett pulls away in horror, which Ramon finds hilarious, unfortunately this gives Goldust the opening to take down Razor while he is busy laughing. McMahon wonders aloud, how much of Goldusts antics are nothing more than a distraction technique. This is a decent match, but the real story comes at the end of the match. As Goldust and Razor are brawling on the outside, Ramon charges at Goldust, but misses, smashing into the corner post taking him down and out. Back in the ring Jarrett has locked Johnson in the figure four, and Ahmed looks to be in serious trouble, until a familiar man with a 7 foot frame climbs over the guard rail. Kevin Nash is here again, he climbs into the ring and starts putting the boots to both Ahmed AND Jarrett, giving the referee little choice but to call for the bell, declaring this one a no contest.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> No Contest</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B-</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="8mYpag9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8mYpag9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="RysxCKJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RysxCKJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kbzSPDo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kbzSPDo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Ip6t6qd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Ip6t6qd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Y9FHBdx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Y9FHBdx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="cq3ouNg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cq3ouNg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Nash continues stomping down on Ahmed and Jarrett respectively, before tossing both men hard over the top rope. He goes to the outside, where Goldust is still putting the boots to Razor, and picks up a steel chair, before whaling The Bizarre One in the back, putting him down as well. He looks for a moment at Ramon, looks at the announce table, looks back at Ramon, and a sadistic smirk breaks out on his face. He grabs hold of a camera man and drags him close to stare directly into the lens, before shouting "See this Monkey Man.....this is called a conciquence." Before dragging the fallen Ramon over to the announce table. He positions The Bad Guy's head between his legs and gives the sign for the power bomb, clearly planning on sending the Intercontinental Champion through the wood. Luckily for Ramon however, the Royal Rumble winner has seen enough, as Shawn Michaels comes running down the aisle with steel chair in hand. This is enough to make Big Daddy Cool think twice, as he drops Razor and bails over the railings back into the crowd. Michaels drops the chair and goes over to help the hurt Ramon to his feet. With HBK's back turned, Nash clearly sees an opening, and slowly begins to climb back over the steel barrier, looking to take advantage of the fact that his former friends attention is elsewhere. He gets one leg over the rail when suddenly.....</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> GONG!!!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> .....the lights go out....</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> GONG!!!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> .....the lights come back on....</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="rnLgWN8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rnLgWN8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The Deadman is stood in the centre of the ring staring a hole through Kevin Nash. He is soon joined by Michaels and Razor and finally Ahmed Johnson. With all 4 men stood staring at Big Sexy, Nash decides it's probably in his best interest to back away from the situation, walking slowly into the crowd shouting that "this ain't over" as the show comes to a close.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Rating:</strong> B</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p>

I love how you tell the backstory and your approach to the shows always a fan of first person type POV things. Great job so far very entertaining. All I have to say is that this is a perfect time 4 Aldo Montoya to die and the man to be reborn as Big Daddy Cool sidekick/lackey because you know everything he does could be just incredible.....

"So without further ado, and if you peons in the crowd will keep the noise down for two minutes, first let me introduce to you, a man that I've beaten up that many times I've lost count....the WWF Champion....at least for now.....Bret Hart."</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="FxGHYUx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FxGHYUx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The Hitman makes his way down the aisle, WWF Title proudly displayed over his shoulder, slapping hands with the fans on his way, before stopping to give his glasses to a young boy at ringside. He gets into the ring and walks up to Lawler with a serious look on his face, but the King backs off, telling Bret that he shouldn't be so focused on him, he should focus all his attention on this next guest, The Undertaker.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="rnLgWN8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rnLgWN8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The lights start to flicker as the Deadman makes his ominous walk to the ring. Again he is without the presence of his manager Paul Bearer, but after the actions of Kevin Nash last week, that's not surprising. With the two combatants in the ring, Lawler positions himself between them, indicating for them to each take a seat, but both men remain standing. King tells them that they should be conserving their energy for the PPV, but if they want to stand that's up to them.</p><p> </p><p> Lawler addresses The Undertaker first, he says that the world wants to know about the condition of Paul Bearer following the actions of Kevin Nash last week. Lawler the last time he saw Bearer suffer that much at the hands of a table, it was after an all you can eat Buffet binge left him with crippling indigestion. Taker tells The King to save his jokes and fake concern. He tells him that Bearer will be fine and back to 100% in no time....but the same can't be said about Kevin Nash....Kevin Nash will suffer for his actions. The King tells the Deadman that he should be focused on The Hitman, not Kevin Nash, he says it's funny that Kevin Nash is going round, saving Bret Hart from losing the Title, beating people up, putting people through tables....but not once has he laid a hand on the Hitman himself.....and now, just weeks before their cage match at In Your House, Kevin Nash has put YOUR manager through a table, taking HIM out, and taking YOUR head out of the game. Hart interrupts Lawler, asking him what he's implying. The King says that it seems convenient that Nash is going out of his way to protect The Hitmans title, almost as if they were in cahoots.</p><p> </p><p> Bret shakes his head saying that he has offered to face Kevin Nash, any time, any place....to which the King replies, "yes, and then Gorilla Monsoon conveniently put a stop to that match.....all I'm saying, is it looks suspicious to me...and judging by the look in the Undertakers eye, it's sounding suspicious to him as well." Bret continues to plead his innocence, but the Undertaker cuts him off, telling him that if he had ANYTHING to do with what happened to Paul Bearer, he will NOT rest in peace, because The Undertaker will drag him straight to hell. The two men begin throwing insults at each other, with Jerry Lawler stirring trouble in between them, and things are becoming rather heated until the WWF President Gorilla Monsoon walks out with a microphone in hand. He tells Lawler that he knows exactly what he's doing, trying to cause trouble, but tonight, his mouth has gotten him into trouble, because Bret Hart will get to prove his integrity to the world, when he teams up with his In Your House opponent The Undertaker, to take on the team of Jerry Lawler.....and whoever The King can convince to team with him later tonight.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="KMJ08GR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KMJ08GR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="zEp3Eup.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zEp3Eup.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="m0VMdA6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/m0VMdA6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="i4fICHd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/i4fICHd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> As The King goes to the back with the difficult task of finding a partner stupid enough to team with him against Bret Hart and The Undertaker, Jim Ross makes his way to the announce booth to help Vince with the evenings commentary, just in time for the first match.</p><p> </p><p> The Smoking Gunns look to continue their winning ways, and reposition themselves as title contenders, but that will be no easy feat here tonight against the Harris Boys, especially since they have the managerial experience of Paul Ellering behind them. Back live in the arena and Faarooq and the rest of The Nation have made their way down to the ring. Farrooq tells the fans in attendance that a miscarriage of justice took place here last week, and that Bobby Knight clearly had his shoulder up before the three count (he didn't) and that this was just another example of "the man" trying to hold the Nation down. "Chris Jericho, if you were any sort of a man, you would walk down this aisle, apologise to Mr Knight, and denounce that tainted victory."</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="eLDIoSz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eLDIoSz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> And Chris Jericho does indeed come out, but he's not stupid enough to walk down the ring, instead remaining stood at the entrance where he tells Farrooq that his victory last week was earned fair and square, he's not denouncing a thing. "In fact, the only people who don't do things fair and square around here are you and the rest of The Nation.....and if I have to go through every last one of you to get another shot at that Light Heavyweight Championship, then that's exactly what I'll do."</p><p> </p><p> The Nation find the notion of this clearly hilarious, as they crack up laughing, before Scorpio takes the mic from Farrooq, telling him "I got this." He tells Jericho that he might have got lucky last week, but Scorpios already beat him, Farrooq would destroy him, Kama would dismantle him......"and as for big Nelson Knight here.....hell, you wouldn't last 5 minutes before he'd squash you like the annoying little bug that you are.......in fact, if you can last five minutes with the Big Man, and you're still standing to tell the tale, I'll give you your shot at MY Light Heavyweight Championship, no questions asked."</p><p> </p><p> Jericho looks hesitant, but agrees....under the condition that the rest of The Nation stay in the back and out of the match. Nelson laughs at the thought of needing The Nation there to help him against Jericho, telling them to "go to the back and watch me squash this chump in about 30 seconds." </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B-</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="eLDIoSz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eLDIoSz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS <img alt="rHR4YiB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rHR4YiB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The bell rings, and the longest 5 minutes of Chris Jericho's life are underway.....well, I say the longest 5 minutes of Chris Jericho's life, but to be fair the first two minutes consist of Knight bumbling around like a buffoon while Jericho uses his speed to run circles around him. Unfortunately all the speed in the world isn't enough and Nelson finally catches his opponent with a big right hand that knocks him silly, before proceeding to beat the holy hell out of the youngster. At the 3:46 mark he lands a huge splash which would have handed him the victory, but he pulled Jericho off the mat at the two count, wanting to inflict more damage. At the 4:00 minute mark, he whips Chris hard into the turnbuckles, backing his considerable girth into the opposite side of the ring, before smirking and charging the length of the mat, crashing with the force of a 10 tonne truck into the corner.....unfortunately for him all he hit was turnbuckle, as Jericho had managed to drop to the mat out of the way. 4:16 and Knight staggers back to the centre of the ring, dazed. Jericho sees his opportunity, and three consecutive drop kicks finally wobble the giant....speaking of giants, anyone that's seen an Andre match knows what's coming next, as at the 4 minute and 29 second mark, (and fourth dropkick) Knight staggers backwards and falls into the ropes, landing on his large behind with his arms wrapped and tangled in the top and middle rope. Nelson struggles with all his might, but nothing is moving him, not even the other 4 members of the Nation who come sprinting down to the ring, just as the 5 minutes expire and the referee awards the match to Jericho.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> Chris Jericho</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> C-</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="FOurmAt.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FOurmAt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rHR4YiB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rHR4YiB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="PST0d7r.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PST0d7r.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="2sHqNDo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2sHqNDo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="yiIP524.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yiIP524.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="eLDIoSz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eLDIoSz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Furious and being embarrassed for the second week in a row, Farrooq, Kama and Scorpio leave Bobby Knight trying to untangle Nelson, and charge the victorious Chris Jericho. He gets halfway down the aisle and stops before giving a double handed point to the back. Razors music dies down and morphs into the music of Shawn Michaels, as the Heartbreak Kid emerges in the entrance way, and the two stars make their way to the ring.....looks like it's promo time.</p><p> </p><p> Razor gets on the mic first, he says that last week, Kevin Nash made the biggest mistake of his life, not because he put his hands on Goldust, Jarrett and Ahmed Johnson.....not because he ticked off The Deadman....."but because he put....his hands....on me....Diesel, Nash, I don't know why you think you can try The Bad Guy....me and you, we've been up and down this road more times than I can remember....I even took this gold belt around my waist away from you back when you were still carrying Shawn's bags. You think you the Big Bad Wolf? Well Razor Ramon, he gonna carve you up."</p><p> </p><p> Michaels is next on the mic, he tells Nash that for a very big man, he sure does like jumping people when their backs are turned....Shawn says that come Wrestlemania, he's going one on one for the World Title, be that Bret Hart or The Undertaker, it doesn't matter to him, because he's worked too hard, for too long to let this opportunity slip through his fingers....he went through 29 other men...."you included Nash, to earn this shot....but I am sick and tired of you running rough shot over the entire locker room....your one man wrecking crew act is coming to an end now, and it's coming to an end at the hands of me.....Kevin, I bought you into the WWF, I'll damn sure take you out of it again. You wanna go round jumping people from behind....putting people through tables? At In Your House, if you've got the balls to fight someone face to face....I'll be stood right here in the middle of the ring waiting."</p><p> </p><p> With the challenge levied, Ramon adds that when he's done defending his title against that big painted freak Goldust, he'll be right there in the back, in case Nash wants to start playing with tables.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Y9FHBdx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Y9FHBdx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="o3LlZPp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/o3LlZPp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Goldusts ears were obviously burning, because the mention of his name brings him out from the back, with his beautiful assistant Marlena by his side, he gets as close as ringside, and Razor looks like he's going to jump out of the ring to meet him, but Goldust puts Marlena between him and the Bad Guy and pics up a mic.</p><p> </p><p> "Mother of mercy, is this the end of Rico?" Little Caesar, 1931.....Razor Ramon, my little Latin Lover, that fiery temper of yours is going to land you in hot water...instead of worrying about what Big (deep breath) Big Sexy is going to be doing at In Your House, you should be spending every waking moment thinking about me, me, me.....about what I'm going to do to you, in order to get my hands on your big......mmm gold belt."</p><p> </p><p> McMahon says that Goldust wants to heed his own advice, and worry about Ahmed Johnson who he's supposed to be facing in a moment. Jim Ross says he doesn't know about Vince, but he's got a feeling that Goldust is playing mind games with the Bad Guy, and it might be working. Shawn and Razor look at each other for a moment, shrug their shoulders, and head out to the floor where it looks like Goldust is going to get the beating of a lifetime....that is until security hits the ring, keeping the three men separate.</p><p> </p><p> "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! Dr Strangelove, 1964.....security, take them away, I've got a man to beat. </p><p> </p><p> Shawn and Razor reluctantly leave the ringside area as Goldust waits for his opponent. Ahmed is obviously put off by Goldust's strange manner, but the two still manage a half decent match and it looks as though Johnson is going to pick up the win when he hooks Goldust in position for the Pearl River Plunge. Before he can deliver the move however Marlena is up on the ring apron like a shot, distracting both Ahmed, AND the referee, long enough that a guitar wielding Jeff Jarrett is able to slip into the ring undetected.....undetected until he spins Ahmed round that is, nailing him with a big shot over the head. As one half of the WWF Tag Team Champions, The British Bulldog, goes up against one half of the number one contenders Rick Steiner. Both men are accompanied by their respective seconds, Owen Hart and Scott Steiner. This one is all power and brute force, as Steiner and Bulldog hammer each other with big move after big move. It's a close fought match, and a win for Steiner would give him and his brother some good momentum going into In Your House, unfortunately it wasn't a win he was going to get. Owen slid one of the title belts into the ring behind the refs back, and then deliberately tripped Rick right in front of the official. While the referee reprimands Hart, Smith knocks Steiner out cold with the belt, and despite Scott's protests, this one is in the bag as Rick is counted down for the 1, 2, 3.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> The British Bulldog</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="1I82LvM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1I82LvM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8mSuiYR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8mSuiYR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="y6o2RXS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/y6o2RXS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="AvJwLJZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AvJwLJZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The Tag Champs head to the back, with their gold belts held high, while Scott checks on his brother in the ring. He helps Rick to his feet and then gets a microphone and shouts loudly (and somewhat incoherently) at Hart and Smith....the gist of which was that Scott wanted a piece of Owen Hart next week, and he's gonna kick his ass (or lick his rats? It's hard to tell through all the mumbling....although it's probably the former, I don't think Owen has a rat) Never one to miss an opportunity to be obnoxious, Owen is quick to accept and it looks like the match is made, Scott Steiner vs Owen Hart, next week.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="rHqoB6y.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rHqoB6y.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="b965MKg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/b965MKg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The new power duo of the World Wrestling Federation are out next, as the Connecticut Blue Blood Hunter Hearst Helmsley makes his way down the aisle with the gorgeous Sunny on his arm. The two strut cockily around the ring for a moment, with Hunter spinning Sunny around for the whole arena to appreciate. </p><p> </p><p> He gets on a microphone and cuts a self righteous promo, stating that he is the present and the future of wrestling. He's got all the fine clothes, the beautiful girl on his arm....all that's missing is some gold around his waist....but worry not, because it's only a matter of time until he gets the shot he's entitled to....and one shot is all he's going to need. The WWF will soon have the Intercontinental Champion that it deserves....not some greasy thug like Razor Ramon, not some face painted freak like Goldust....but a man with class, with elegance....with style....a man with....</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="WQovKz9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/WQovKz9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Unfortunately for Helmsley, who seems to love the sound of his own voice, he doesn't get to finish that statement, because out from the back comes Phatu, the man Helmsley assaulted two weeks ago with a steel chair. He charges down the aisle with a look of determination on his face, before sliding into the ring and taking Hunter to the mat, raining blows down on his rather large nose. The only thing that breaks up the assault is Sunny digging her nails into the eyes of her clients attacker, giving Hunter a brief window of opportunity to bail from the ring and back up the aisle with a furious look on his face. Sunny soon joins him and the two retreat to the back, while Phatu gets the mic and tells Helmsley that instead of jumping him when his backs turned, he can act like a man and face him one on one, face to face at In Your House.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> C+</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="FxGHYUx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FxGHYUx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rnLgWN8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rnLgWN8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="HHdul53.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HHdul53.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> It's time for the main event of the evening, has the King managed to find a partner for the match? It doesn't look like it unfortunately for him, as he comes out alone with a very nervous and uneasy look on his face. He stands in the middle of the ring looking like a deer caught in the headlights, resigned to watching his two opponents make their respective entrances, the Undertaker out first, followed by the reigning WWF Champion, Bret Hart.</p><p> </p><p> Lawler grabs a microphone and starts demanding that President Monsoon postpones the match, saying there was no one in the back willing to get in the ring with The Undertaker in his current mood. Hart takes a mic and says that if Lawler wasn't such an obnoxious ass then maybe he wouldn't have struggled to find a partner, but since he's there in his wrestling gear, Bret's there dresses to fight, the Undertaker can go to the back, and Bret will happily take care of the King. Undertaker however is going no where, and things look very dire for the King, who's begging off in the corner.....at least until some familiar music starts to play....</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="8mYpag9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8mYpag9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> ....it's Kevin Nash. This went on for some time until the official was able to restore order. Champion and Challenger were actually able to work as a coherent unit for a while, taking turns punishing The King, that is until Nash pulled the top rope down as The Undertaker was running the ropes, causing the Deadman to tumble to the floor. This turned the tides and gave Nash and Lawler the opportunity to make Taker suffer. And suffer he did, with Vince remarking on commentary that he's not sure whether Bret is too concerned about making the tag, because with just a few weeks to go until the PPV, there's every chance that his opponent won't make it to the match if he takes much more punishment. In an effort to prove his integrity though, Bret does indeed make the tag, hitting the ring and clearing house on Lawler. He looks for Nash, but he's bailed to the outside, arms up in a mock look of surrender....leaving Vince questioning why Big Daddy Cool isn't laying a finger on the champion. </p><p> </p><p> With Nash looking on from the outside, Hart locks Lawler into the Sharpshooter, leaving the King high and dry, with little option but to quit. Hart pleads his ignorance, but the situation eventually breaks down into a shoving match, with neither man backing down. So heated is the argument that neither man sees the 7 foot frame of Kevin Nash sliding into the ring with a steel chair.....that is until...BANG....Undertaker goes down hard with a vicious shot to the back. Bret looks stunned as Nash smirks, mouths the words "you're welcome" and exits the ring over the top rope and back up the aisle, leaving us with more questions than answers as the show goes off the air.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B+</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Rating:</strong> A</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p>

<p>I was really happy with how Raw turned out, all in all it was a great show. Shawn and Razor might be a##holes backstage, but they certainly know how to cut a promo that gets the fans going. The other plus side to these two prima donna's cutting a promo instead of wrestling, was that I didn't have to negotiate a finish with either one of them....an arduous task in itself. Although nothing ever goes smooth in this business, because even though I didn't have to jump through hoops to get the Kliq to lose a match, I did have to bend over backwards to get big Nelson Knight to do the favour for Chris Jericho. Yeah, old Mabel was furious when I told him the plan for the night. Granted Jericho has only been in the company for 5 minutes and was virtually an unknown commodity at the time, but even a blind man can see that he is going to be one of the next big things in wrestling.....so unfortunately Nelson, that means you had to do the job, get over it.</p><p> </p><p> Speaking of the former "King" of the WWF, the Kliq were less than complimentary about him after Raw had finished, with Nash saying that he wouldn't know how to connect with the fans if his life depended on it....maybe if his next meal depended on it though.....ever the diplomat there Kevin. Shawn was far from complimentary about Phatu as well, who apparently "can't sell for s##t", but then he's feuding with his boy Hunter so Shawn was bound to have an opinion. Surprisingly Ahmed Johnson found his voice too, piping up that the fans simply didn't care about Don Harris one way or another. Considering that connecting with the fans is one of the few things Ahmed does well though, this one might have merit.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, hopefully this next episode of Raw is as entertaining as the last....although Shawn's got a match this week, so most of the entertainment might be found backstage watching me trying to negotiate a finish.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong>Preview for Monday Night Raw, Week 3 1996</strong></p><p> </p><p> The Smoking Gunns vs The Nation of Domination (Nelson & Bobby Knight)</p><p> </p><p> Hakushi vs Chavo Guererro</p><p> </p><p> Scott Steiner vs Owen Hart</p><p> </p><p> The Godwinns vs The Corporation (123 Kid & Tatanka)</p><p> </p><p> Shawn Michaels vs Sycho Sid</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>
