OOC:Ok, so we are finally there......it's time for Wrestlemania.....no news this week....other than the news that since it IS Wrestlemania, we have a Wrestlemania prediction contest.....I have a prize, but I'm going to put off revealing what that prize is until after the show.....so have at it, it's a one show and done contest, winner take all.

Scott Steiner - There will be many shenanigans, but I think Nash will be coming in to put a stop to Shawn's dominance just as he helped start it.

Hart Foundation - Their story is a lot richer, with working back up from the title ban to nab themselves a shot.

Undertaker

Steve Austin

Chris Jericho - His heel turn is coming soon, though, I feel.

Cactus Jack - While I think at this point I would almost prefer to see Raven take it and move up the card, the story here is Mick breaking out of his control, and he has to win in order to get that.

British Bulldog

Christopher Daniels - I see no reason to change the title here, other than maybe a WM feel-good moment with Rey? So just leave it here.

Hardy Boys - This eventually never-ending feud should end for a little while.

Ahmed/Sid/LOD - Big, ugly brawlers win big, ugly brawl.

Gunn & James

Marc Mero

MOTN: Raven vs. Cactus

WOTN: Mero vs. DeMott if that counts, if not then the ladder match

Opener: LH Ladder match

Titles: 2

Tiebreaker: 35:04

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the biggest spectacular of the year......welcome to the pinnacle of all of sports and entertainment......welcome.....to Wrestlemania XIII......and the show opens with a hype package featuring all of the marquee matches that we have in store this evening......and there are a few to say the least.......we see Brian Pillman stabbing his friend and partner in the back as he eliminated Stone Cold Steve Austin from the Royal Rumble match.......we see The Undertaker barely.....just barely picking up the three count against his brother Kane back at Survivor Series, as well as Kane destroying the Deadman at the Royal Rumble, before demanding a Last Man Standing Match.......we see the Harts getting screwed over month in and month out, starting at Wrestlemania XII, The Survivor Series, and finally the Royal Rumble.....before finally earning tonight’s shot at last months In Your House......and finally we see the storied history between Scott Steiner and Shawn Michaels, highlighting Steiner’s would be World Title victory back at the King of the Ring, and the journey he’s taken to get to tonight.....before finishing on a shot from this weeks Monday Night Raw, which sees Shawn Michaels standing tall, holding aloft both the WWF and Intercontinental Championships......

cV65vQq.jpgeBuWMm2.jpg

......and we go live to the arena, where Jim Ross and Rick Rude welcome us to a star studded show......they tell us that five Championships are on the line tonight.....and we are guaranteed at LEAST two new Title holders........with either The British Bulldog or Mr. Perfect becoming the very first WWF European Champion.........and in the main event, we will see either a new Intercontinental Champion, or a brand new WWF Champion.....because one way or another, either Shawn Michaels or Scott Steiner are walking out tonight a double title holder......and Jim Ross has his money on Big Poppa Pump.......

......Rude in the other hand says that Shawn Michaels and more importantly, Vince McMahon will have prepared for every eventuality......and the only thing Scott Steiner will be leaving as tonight.....is a loser........

......but before all that, the crowd absolutely explodes......as the glass breaks to signal the arrival of Stone Cold Steve Austin......and our opening match of the evening.......

......and what an opening match it is......as the former WWF Tag Team Champions collide on the grandest stage of them all.....because it’s Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Corporate Cannon Brian Pillman.....this time last year, Austin was still the Ringmaster, making his final appearance as a member of the Million Dollar Corporation in a losing effort to Rowdy Roddy Piper, while Pillman was making his WWF debut, helping Piper pick up that win, before going on a months long quest to bring the REAL Steve Austin out from under the Ringmaster persona......

......twelve months later and you could argue that he did exactly that.....along with elevating himself in the process, because Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Corporate Cannon Brian Pillman are now two of the biggest stars in the wrestling world, arguably number three and four in the WWF pecking order, which is no small feat when you realise that number one is the man who has been the WWF Champion for one solid year, The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels.....and number two is the Phenom himself, The Undertaker........

.......these two are no strangers to each other, with Ross actually bringing up the fact that Austin and Pillman have a history dating back to their 1993 reign as Tag Team Champions in another promotion, before going on to face each other on a number of occasions.....Rude says that he’s been in the ring against Pillman, and he’s tagged with Austin numerous times.....and the way he sees it, is Stone Cold Steve Austin might be one of the toughest men in wrestling today......but Brian Pillman may be certifiably insane.....so while he can’t say who is going to win, he knows it’s going to be a good fight.....

.......and while Rude was right, it WAS a good fight.....it could have been even better, because for as well as Austin and Pillman work as a team.....as opponents? Not so much......it certainly makes for an awkward contest at times, fortunately however the two men are pros and are able to cover most of the botches well enough......and the crowd are white hot, desperate to see these two finally come to blows, and a good crowd can make even the most mediocre match seem spectacular......

......this was no technical masterclass, as the former friends tore at each other from the second the bell rang to start the match. Austin is the more prolific brawler of the two, and dominated Pillman in the opening portion of the match, with the Corporate Cannon channeling his inner Shawn Michaels, and bumping like a star for Stone Cold, who only comes undone after a desperate Pillman lands with a low blow.....from there on in The Corporate Cannon tore into Austin like a jackal, eyes wide and teeth bared as he mercilessly assaulted the firm fan favourite......

.......Austin came close to tasting defeat here on a number of occasions, but we made sure that both men looked equally as strong as the match went on, because realistically, they have both proved that they can deliver, they can both get the fans invested into their angles......and quite honestly, both men could easily carry the World Wrestling Federation Championship one day......in fact, a victory here would arguably give the winner a pretty strong case if they wanted to face whomever walks out of tonight as the WWF Champion......

......eventually Austin is able to hold on just long enough to find a foothold back into the match, levelling Pillman with a Thez Press, and unloading a series of right hands onto the former Flyin’ Brian.......the duo go back and forth with an extended finish that has the crowd on their feet on a number of occasions.....but it’s finally Austin that gets his hand raised......because as Pillman attempts a springboard clothesline into the ring, Austin is able to catch him with a kick to the gut in mid air, before connecting with a Stone Cold Stunner that was good enough to give him the three.

Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin

Rating: B+

LjBLTcA.jpgiXAv5bk.jpg

Austin mounts the second rope in celebration, having finally gained a measure of revenge over his one time friend.....and the crowd pop is electric. He signals for a beer and for the first time (in this world anyway) a couple get tossed up high in the air to him from the floor. Austin pops the cans and raises them in triumph, before toasting the screaming crowd and pouring the beer down his neck.......first one corner.....then the same treatment at the next.......and the next.........and finally, 8 beers later.....the final corner......which is when Brian Pillman nails him in the back of the leg with a steel chair.........

.......Austin already has a brace on the knee, and Pillman zero’s in on it like a target, laying down blow after blow in frustration......before opening up the chair and sliding Austin’s leg into it.......The Corporate Cannon climbs to the second rope and flips Stone Cold the double bird......before flying off and stomping down hard on the chair, crushing steel against bone as Austin screams in agony, just as a wave of medical personnel and security rush the ring to break up the assault.......

........Pillman throws his arms up in surrender, before cackling that maniacal laugh and walking to the back, damage done, while two paramedics help Austin to his feet......but Stone Cold Steve Austin isn’t being walked to the back like some helpless puppy dog.....and even on one leg manages to shove one paramedic away, before dropping a second with a Stunner.....before rolling to the outside and hobbling to the back on his own, much to the crowds approval....although he’s clearly hurt.

WWF Light Heavyweight Championship: Ladder Match

It’s time for a first now here at Wrestlemania.....the first ever multi-man ladder match for the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship......Christopher Daniels defeated Rey Mysterio back at the Royal Rumble to capture the title from the divisions then longest reigning champion....and while it was not without assistance from the Flock, Daniels association Raven has seen him ascend to a point where he is easily the biggest “name” in this match.....in fact, unless either Sean Waltman or Chris Jericho decide that they want a shot at the title again, Daniels is arguably the biggest name in the entire division....not bad for a man that was an absolute unknown six months or so ago.....

......I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this one, and I don’t think the crowd was either because there was a sense of anticipation in the air.....sure we had seen Shawn Michaels and Scott Hall put in an absolute classic three years ago at Wrestlemania X......as well as their second toned down (but equally enjoyable) return match at Summerslam 95......but this was six of the highest flyers in the World Wrestling Federation.....and we weren’t so toned down anymore thanks to our new found attitude.....so anything could.....and did.....happen here......

.......the defending Champion might be the biggest name in the match, but former Champion Rey Mysterio was clearly the crowds favourite, making his return to the ring for the first time since his brutal showdown with Raven at In Your House.....and he was keen to get his hands on the man who took that title from him, especially since that man was an acolyte of Raven, and he and Daniels spent a good portion of the match punishing one another.....

......as for the match itself, it’s pretty safe to say that this was car crash entertainment at at best.....and while this was classified as a ladder match, the competitors certainly didn’t shy away from using any object at their disposal, including a number of tables that were pulled out from underneath the ring....although why there were tables under the ring is anyone’s guess.....either way, it wasn’t long before this match left a wave of broken bodies in its wake......Jerry Lynn and Chavo Guerrero were both put out of commission after Lynn destroyed Guerrero with a Cradle Piledriver from the apron and through a wooden table on the floor......and after setting up a ladder horizontal on the outside, one end balancing on the ring apron and one end laying on the safety barrier, young Billy Kidman wowed the crowd with a spectacular Shooting Star Press to Scorpio, who was laid across the climbing apparatus.....

........that just left Daniels and Rey to ascend the ladder together.....and it was a big one....probably the biggest ladder in the match....and as the two men reach the top they begin exchanging blows.....both men wobble, but it’s Mysterio that finally gets the advantage, hurling the Fallen Angel from the top all the way down to the canvas below.....all he has to do now is unhook the Championship.......

NqqfCgY.jpg

......which is exactly the time that Bill DeMott comes running down the aisle.....

........he climbs a few rungs up, before turning around, reaching up......and planting Mysterio hard into the mat with a huge Powerbomb that drives the air out of the little Luchador, and sends him rolling to the outside to catch his breath. DeMott is screaming at Daniels to climb the ladder.....and he does try......but he can’t make it past the first few steps.......so DeMott bends down and hoists The Fallen Angel up on his shoulders.....and in an impressive display of power, begins to climb the ladder, taking Daniels along for the ride.....in fact he climbs so high that Daniels is actually face to face with the Championship.....all he has to do is reach out...............

xNCHeK4.jpg

......but Cactus Jack seems to have other ideas.....and he comes flying furiously out of the crowd.....and make no mistake, this IS Cactus Jack......Raven wanted the psychotic madman.....and it looks like he has him......because only a maniac would do what Cactus did next.......and as Daniels and DeMott look on in horror, Cactus slides into the ring and begins slowly tipping the ladder up, with the two men still perched on top of it, their plea’s for mercy falling on deaf ears as Cactus finally manages to topple the gargantuan ladder......sending both Christopher Daniels and Bill DeMott sailing from up high in the ring, over the top rope, crashing all the way through a pair of tables that were set up on the outside......Ross screams that we need an ambulance, Rude reply’s to forget the ambulance, just send the coroner, because these two men are finished......

.......Cactus lets out a wild “Bang! Bang!”.....before screaming into a nearby camera that he’s coming for Raven.....Cactus Jack is coming......before he turns and bails back into the cheering crowd......

.......in the meantime, the only man to stir is Billy Kidman.....and to the shock of everyone the youngster is able to erect and climb the twisted ladder, before doing the unthinkable......retrieving the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship......and this match, is mercifully over.

We leave Billy Kidman celebrating his huge victory and we head to the back where Dok Hendrix is standing by with Ahmed Johnson, Psycho Sid and The Legion of Doom.....all four men are wearing street fight apparel....there is denim galore.....and not a hint of Ahmed’s butt crack to be seen......Dok tells the four men that in just a few moments they will be going to war with Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Corporation, but it’s not going to be just any match......it’s going to be a street fight......

......Ahmed takes the lead, asking Dok if he really thinks that any of these men look worried about getting a little street?.......

”........because as the Captain of this team......(that little phrase causes the LoD and Sid to exchange a look....and a small shake of the head)......as the Captain of this team, I’ve got these men hungry.......I’ve got these men angry........I’ve got these men ready to fight......there’s no Mark Mero here Dok, just four mean dogs ready to take a bite out of the Million Dollar Corporation.......ain’t that right Sid.........”

.......Sid says that’s right......he says that if ANYONE knows how the Million Dollar Corporation operates, it’s the Master and the Ruler of the World.....Psycho Sid......and tonight, all the stocks and shares in the Million Dollar portfolio.....are going to come crashing down with a big Powerbomb.......

.......Animal talks next.....well, screams next.....with spittle flying he tells DiBiase that they kicked his butt so hard as a member of Money Inc that they sent him running into retirement.....well tonight, they’re gonna hit his men so hard, DiBiase is going to want to retire from managing as well ”.........TELL ‘EM HAWK.......”

“.......WELLLLLL.....MILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION......IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE YOU’RE MORE OF A MILLION DOLLAR JOKE.....YOU’VE GOT THE TWO PIG FARMERS, SOUTHERN JUSTICE.......LIVING PROOF THAT EVOLUTION CAN GO IN REVERSE......YOU GOT RICH STEINER......YOU EVER SEEN THAT MOVIE “TWINS” DOK?......WELL RICH IS THE DANNY DEVITO TO SCOTT STEINER’S ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER........AND THEN THERE’S GOLDILOCKS HERSELF......JEFF JARRETT......BUT HE DOESN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE THREE BEARS TONIGHT DOK......BECAUSE IF HE TRIES TO EAT MY PORRIDGE, I’LL PULL HIS HEAD OFF HIS SHOULDERS LIKE A PEZ DISPENSER AND THEN TED DIBIASE CAN USE IT FOR A BEGGING BOWL......BECAUSE AFTER WE DESTROY HIS MEAL TICKET TONIGHT, HE’LL BE PUTTING DOLLAR MEALS ON LAYAWAY........UHHHHHH.......WH...........”

“........because Million Dollar Corporation......you’re going down......”

.......Hawk does not look impressed about Ahmed’s interruption, but Johnson is oblivious as he storms out of the interview area, fired up and ready to fight, leaving Hawk, Animal and Sid behind.......Dok stands there awkwardly, before turning to Hawk.....

Street Fight

So here we are......it’s time to fight......and we have four big, bad brawlers in Ahmed, Sid and the Legion of Doom.......while on the opposing team we have Southern Justice who and Rich Steiner, who aren’t afraid to get down and dirty......and Jeff Jarrett, who might not be best known for his brawling abilities, but has been in his share of bloodbaths down in Memphis over the years......Ahmed is desperate to secure a victory over the Corporation here, so desperate in fact that he’s been acting like kind of a d*ck as of late.....blaming Marc Mero for his loss at last months In Your House, and not having many complimentary things to say about him in the aftermath.....

.......as far as the match goes, it’s about what you would expect from these two teams.....there are lots of punches, kicks, stomps, trash can shots and general organised chaos.....this is Tornado Tag Rules, so all eight men are going at it at the same time, generally on the outside, but occasionally we are treated to an actual wrestling move in the ring......Animal gave Steiner a back drop once for example.....(I jest, but there really weren’t many wrestling moves)......

........the ending was just as chaotic as the rest of the match......Sid and Canterbury are brawling on the floor, Animal has Jarrett perched up on his shoulders and Hawk is up top, looking for the Doomsday Device......Ahmed is hammering Dennis Knight in the opposite corner, before sending Knight across the ring with an Irish Whip......he hits the turnbuckles and staggers forward into Ahmed, who catches hold and positions him for the Pearl River Plunge......unfortunately Knight knocked Hawk off balance when he hit the corner, crotching him on the top rope.........

........Rich Steiner climbs up and shoves Hawk off the top to the floor, just as Jarrett rakes Animals eyes......Animal drops his opponent and clutches at his face, just as Steiner comes flying off the top with a Bulldog.......making the cover just as Ahmed connects with the Pearl River Plunge to Dennis Knight........

......the bell rings and Ahmed leaps to his feet in celebration......little does he know however that it was Rich Steiner that just secured the pinball.....although he soon realises when he turns around and sees Animal flat on his back with the Million Dollar Corporation heading to the back with their hands raised in victory.....

......he looks down in disbelief at Animal, before telling him that he had this one in the bag......all Animal had to do was just not get pinned, and he couldn’t even do that.....Hawk is up and quickly to his partners defence, telling Ahmed that THEY had this one......they had Jarrett beat......and it was Ahmed that cost them the match, because he was to focused on being the one to get the pinfall.....

......obviously Ahmed doesn’t like hearing that, and a loud argument breaks out, before Johnson finally shoves Hawk to one side and walks away.....telling a nearby camera that he’s sick of being let down by losers.....it’s time that Ahmed Johnson looked out for Ahmed Johnson.....before storming to the back, leaving Sid and The Legion of Doom to receive a pretty mood reception in the ring considering they lost.

It’s time to slow down the pace a little here following those two high impact matches, as the British Bulldog Davey Big Smith and Mr. Perfect face off in a good old fashioned wrestling match to determine the very first WWF European Champion. Considering how long these two men have been with the World Wrestling Federation (on and off) they have not actually faced off that many times.....with their most high profile matches being back in 1991 when the two would do battle over the then Intercontinental Champion, Mr. Perfects Title.....although there was never really a clear cut winner in those matches, with the bouts often ending in count out or disqualification......hopefully we won’t have that tonight......

......the match itself is very good, thanks mainly to Perfect, who is enough of a ring general to carry Davey to a good showing. The announcers do a good job of selling the importance that winning this brand new Championship has for each competitor.....for the Bulldog, not only is this a Championship tailor made for a European wrestler such as himself, and not only would it be the perfect (no pun intended) start to what could be a very successful night for the Hart Foundation......but it would also mark one of the most successful twelve month runs of his career, holding the WWF Tag Team Titles, the WWF Intercontinental Title, and if successful tonight, the WWF European Championship as well.....that’s more Titles than some wrestlers hold in a whole career, let alone in the space of a year.....while for Perfect, it would truly be an accomplishment to return to action after a near three year lay off and become the very first European Champion just four months later......

.......Jim Ross proclaims that the fact that The Bulldog has been an active competitor throughout all of the time that Perfect has been inactive is a bonus for the Brit, because he has been honing his skills, while Perfect has been getting rusty......Rude disagrees however, claiming that Mr. Perfect could have a ten year lay off and still defeat most men in his first match back......but Ross says that Rude would say that, considering the fact that he and Perfect have been thick as thieves for years now.....however, it’s at this precise moment in the match that Perfect takes control of the match, which Rude uses to prove his point......

......this is a real change of pace for the crowd, who were probably ready for a break from the smash mouth action that they saw in the previous ladder match and street fight.....and Perfect treats them to a mat based master class....but not without a few of his patented high drop kicks thrown in for good measure, as he wears down his opponent.....and he actually looks in good stead to win this one.........

dYDRIuH.jpgx7S7R0g.jpg

......at least until his head is momentarily taken out of the game by his own personal cheering squad, Billy Gunn and Jesse James....who come walking down the aisle whooping and clapping for their Executive Consultant.....Billy Gunn has always been a decent worker, if not a little on the dull side, while for Jesse James you could argue that the opposite is true, but by their association with each other they have found the ideal mix, and are actually turning into quite the entertaining pair......and their horsing around is what leads to Mr. Perfects downfall tonight......because as the two are rough housing and goofing around on the outside, Henning catches the Bulldog with the Perfect-Plex for what SHOULD have been the three count.....however it’s at that time that Gunn gives James a “playful” shove.....and Jesse James flings his arms back, “accidentally” knocking Perfects leg out from under him and breaking the bridge, giving the Bulldog the opening to kick free.....

........Perfect is furious at his clients, but carries on with the match, going for the Plex again.....this time however Davey Boy blocks it and then reverses into that delayed standing vertical suplex of his own.......he holds Perfect high in the air for some time......instead of dropping back however to drive his opponent into the mat, Bulldog releases it and drops Hennig over his shoulder.....before driving the air out of him with the Running Powerslam......three seconds later, and we have our inaugural European Champion.

The Bulldog celebrates his victory, kissing the gold championship and raising it for the crowd, before heading to the back, presumably to show off his new title to Bret and Owen.......Perfect is still down and feeling the effects of the Powerslam, but Gunn and James slide into the ring with a look of mock concern on their face.......they help Perfect to his feet, with James apologising, telling him that they are sorry, they were just goofing about, it was a total accident.........

”.......this isn’t though.......

......Jesse James then kicks Perfect hard in the gut, doubling him over and leaving him in an ideal position for Billy Gunn’s Famouser.....Perfect is down and out, but that doesn’t stop these two from mercilessly stomping the hell out of him......and it doesn’t look as though they are going to stop.......

........at least until the Texas Long Riders come running down to make the save.....both of these teams were in action on the pre-show as part of the four way Tag Team match, where Gunn picked up the victory over Barry Windham for his team......and you've got to assume that these big mean Texans are looking for revenge.......

........Gunn and James stop the assault as the Long Riders get into the ring, holding their hands up in surrender, but Windham says it’s too late for begging.......James grabs a microphone though, telling him to.......

”.......wait......WAIT DAMN IT......we don’t want no trouble.............but he does........”

......Windham turns as James points behind him, and Bradshaw almost turns his partner inside out with a running clothesline straight from hell.......before he, James and Gunn proceed in now beating the hell out of Windham.....before the despicable trio exit the ring to a chorus of boo’s, leaving Windham and Perfect laying in the ring.

While they are scraping Barry Windham and Mr. Perfect up off the mat, we are treated to a rather lengthy recap video, featuring the history surrounding our next match.....and I say rather lengthy because it’s a story that spans back to their first on screen meeting almost seven months ago......we see Mankind, desperate for approval and acceptance.....Dude Love, the echo of a childhood ideal, preaching peace and....well, Love...........a shot of Collette Foley as the tears run down her face while a smirking Raven looks on......and finally Cactus Jack.......as he carves a gory mess into the scalp of some poor worker, vowing to put an end to the disturbed enigma that is Raven, before we finally return to ringside......

.......Jim Ross tells us that we might want to take the children out of the room for this one, because it has the potential to be a bloodbath.....he says that the WWF has been informed that no physical harm was done to either Collette or the children of Mick Foley.....but Collette was said to be very shaken up, and you’ve got to believe that the unhinged Cactus Jack will be looking for blood.......

Falls Count Anywhere: Raven's Rules Match

It’s time now for the moment Raven has been waiting for since he first re-acquainted himself with Cactus Jack shortly after his arrival here in the WWF......throughout the course of the fight.....and I say fight because this wasn’t a match......the announcers talk about the fact that these two actually know each other well, in fact Cactus Jack was an ally of Raven’s a few years back when both men were working for a small independent promotion, known for its more “extreme” content......

........Raven’s music starts to play, and it’s not long before the man himself comes walking slowly out onto the entrance way........followed immediately by a charging Cactus Jack, who’s not interested in waiting for entrances or ring announcements.....he simply nails Raven in the back of the head and goes to work hammering rights and lefts into the leader of the Flock.....who are conspicuous by their absence......Jim Ross says that we won’t be seeing either Christopher Daniels or Bill DeMott tonight following that vicious ride they took through a table courtesy of Cactus Jack......Rude says maybe not, but the Dogs of War are still in the arena.......

.......Cactus whips Raven hard into the safety barrier, following in with a running knee attack.....then picks Raven up and hip tosses him so hard that Raven lands upside down, smashing the backs of his knees into the barrier on the opposite side of the aisle way.....Raven struggles to his feet but Cactus charges and clothesline’s the man, and both competitors tumble over the safety rail and into the crowd, where security do their best to clear a path.....not that the two men care about that, as Raven backdrops Cactus into a row of chairs, before picking one up and nailing him across the back with it, before delivering a Russian Leg Sweep on the concrete......he goes for a cover but only gets a two count before Cactus gouges at his eyes, and the pair go at it again.....Cactus slams Raven hard into the floor, then climbs the stairs up to the next section, before turning and running back down the steps and leaping from height, landing a hard elbow drop on his opponent, who convulses in shock......Cactus goes for the cover, and could probably got the three, but changes his mind at the last possible second, deciding that he wants to inflict more punishment as he pulls Raven’s shoulders up off the mat......

......the two men battle up the stairs and along a balcony area that over looks what appears to be a production area, as tables of equipment, electrical devices and general items are set out below.....Raven tries to scramble away from Cactus, but he’s not getting away that easily, and Jack pulls him back, before driving his face into the seat of a nearby chair.......before connecting on a swinging neckbreaker right on the concrete........Cactus gets to his feet and gives a big “Bang! ........and that’s when Wrath and Crush, the Dogs of War, pounce.......and the pair come flying at Cactus out of nowhere.......they proceed to beat the hell out of Cactus, punctuated with their patented Double Chokeslam onto the concrete.....but it takes Raven and age to regain his composure and make the cover, giving Cactus time to recover enough that he’s able to kick out......Raven is furious at this, and orders his Dogs to repeat the move.......they drag the groggy Cactus back to his feet and each wrap a hand around his throat........but Cactus drops to his knees and delivers a double low blow to both men........he picks up a steel chair and nails the on coming Raven between the eyes, then turns and doubles Crush over with a chair to the gut, before.....to the amazement of the crowd.....grabbing him by the scruff of the hair and the seat of the pants.....and sending him hurtling over the balcony and crashing through the (gimmicked) set below.......Wrath sees his partner plummet 15 feet below and charges at Cactus, but Cactus backdrops him right over his head........and he joins his partner in the wreckage below.......

........the crowd goes wild as Cactus gives another “Bang! Bang!”.....but not as wild as they do when he drags Raven to his feet and they see that the man is busted wide open and is wearing the proverbial Crimson Mask.....the two men battle back down the steps and finally make it to ringside, where Cactus tosses Raven back over the barrier.......as Cactus is climbing over to meet him however, Raven catches him with a steel chair shot to the knee, which he follows up with an Irish Whip, knee first....straight into the steel steps......and as the blood continues to drip down his face, he proceeds to unleash his aggression out on Cactus.....he reaches under the ring and pulls out another steel chair......not any steel chair though......the face of this one is wrapped in barbed wire, and as Jack gets to his feet Raven smashes him right in the face......before dropping down and grinding the barbs into the flesh of Cactus’s head, drawing blood of his own......

........it’s utter carnage now as the two men inflict as much damage to each other as possible. There is blood pouring down the face of both Cactus and Raven.......and as barbaric as it sounds, they are both smiling.....the human body can only take so much however, no matter how much you enjoy pain, your body is designed to shut down at a certain point.....and as Cactus reaches underneath the ring and pulls out Old Yeller, it appears that we are reaching about that point.......because after a number of blows from the barbed wire two by four, Raven looks on his last legs.......which is when Cactus tosses the weapon on the ground.......grabs Raven by the hair.......and drives him head first into it with a Double Underhook DDT........he makes the cover, and thankfully, this one is finally over.

Cactus Jack has finally severed all ties with Raven....in the bloodiest way possible.....and as they clear the debris, bodies and blood from ringside, we head to the back where Jerry “The King” Lawler is standing by with one of the competitors in our next match up, Chris Jericho.......Lawler says that Jericho has been waiting to get his hands on Lance Storm for quite some time now.....so much so, that Chris Jericho has been acting rather out of sorts as of late.......

”.......In fact, if you ask me, you’ve been acting like......well a little bit of a petulant child.......”

.......Jericho doesn’t look as though he likes that comment......he’s smiling, but the smile doesn’t quite reach his eyes.....he tells Lawler that with all due respect......

”.......you don’t have the first idea of what you’re on about......have I been a bit hot headed as of late? Sure.......have I made some decisions that I’m not so proud of? Maybe......but people need to remember that I came “this close” to winning the World Wrestling Federation Championship......I took Shawn Michaels to the very limit......and if I’d had just ONE MORE shot, I think everyone knows that the WWF Title, would be around MY sexy waist right now.......but no, I should be headlining Wrestlemania......ME......but I’m not......and do you know why King? Do you?.......I’ll tell you why, Lance Storm is why.......Mr. Monotonous himself......the Mundane Maple Leaf.....

.......and he’s been laughing at me all the way.....he’s taken me, Chris Jericho, the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla......the most exciting..... enthralling.....entrancing.......en.....en-handsome superstar, in all of professional wrestling......and he’s taken me from “up here”.....all the way “down here” to his level......so forgive me “your highness” for being a little bit irritated........”

......Jericho says that’s all going to come to an end tonight however, when he FINALLY puts an end to Lance Storm once and for all.....and Chris Jericho can step back into the spotlight where he belongs......before abruptly turning and walking away muttering to himself......

”.......I’m a petulant child? I’m not a petulant child.......you’re a petulant child.......

It’s time to get things back inside the ring following that arena wide brawl, and Chris Jericho has been desperate to get Lance Storm back inside the ring in a one on one match, because every time they have stepped inside the ring so far, it’s The Pride of Canada Lance Storm that’s come out on top......and Jericho wasn’t wrong with his declaration that he was maybe just one more shot away from defeating the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels, and becoming the next World Wrestling Federation Championship.....because Jericho certainly took Michaels to the limit.....since that night however, Jericho has been so focused on defeating Lance Storm, that he’s totally slipped out of contendership for the WWF Championship.......

.......Lance Storm however has seen his career go in completely the opposite direction.....not only defeating everyone that has been put in front of him, but cosying up to Vince McMahon and watching his stock rise at the same time....so the real question is......what’s going to happen tonight......is Jericho going to reclaim his spot at the top? Or will Lance Storm wrestle rings around him on the way to giving his former partner a total breakdown......

......it’s not often that the “underdog” is the one coming into the match looking the strongest (and make no mistake, when it comes to position in the card Lance Storm is still the underdog here) but Chris Jericho has not been able to gain the upper hand on his former partner since Storms arrival, so despite the fact that Chris Jericho is head and shoulders above Storm in terms of “popularity”, Lance Storm is very much the favourite here......Jericho has bulked up recently, and he looks like an absolute star right now....he’s always had “the look”, but while he has always been in shape, he never had a build that screams World Champion, now on the other hand he looks like a million bucks.....and while that added bulk has slowed him down slightly, he can still fly around the ring, and while Storm is definitely more of a technician, he’s no slouch either so the two men are able to match each other move for move.....much to Jericho’s annoyance, who becomes more frustrated at his inability to put Storm away the longer the match goes on......

......both men manage to lock on their signature moves, Jericho with the Liontamer and Storm with the Canadian Maple Leaf.....but each time their opponent makes it to the ropes to force the break.....but considering that both Jericho and Storm pride themselves on their ability to make a man submit, it was a pinfall that secured the victory here.....a plain run of the mill pinfall.....kind of......because after Storm whips Jericho into the corner, he follows in with a splash....Jericho moves at the last second, but instead of crashing into the turnbuckles Storm lands feet first on the second rope.......quick as a flash Jericho climbs up to meet him and grips him around the waist, nailing a German Suplex from the second rope and holding on, bridging up for the one, two, three......and the pinfall victory that has eluded him for so long.....your winner, Chris Jericho.

Jericho goes absolutely crazy the second the bell rings, celebrating like he’s David defeating Goliath......but Lance Storm is not happy about the decision and is arguing with the official.....Jim Ross says he’s not sure what Storm is complaining about, Chris Jericho just beat him fair and square.......

......even Rude is unsure as to what Storm is protesting about......until we have a replay from a different angle......because that angle shows that the official was clearly out of position......because Lance Storm DID in fact get his shoulder up before the three count......Chris Jericho however, did not have the greatest bridge set up and clearly had both shoulders on the mat throughout the count......and as Rick Rude points out, by the lay of the law, Lance Storm just pinned Chris Jericho......

.......unfortunately for Storm, this one is in the books.....and Jericho continues to enjoy his over the top victory celebration, as we go to a hype video that highlights the history between The Undertaker.....and his baby brother Kane......

......and from that video we come back to a close up shot of Kane, who is joined by his manager Jim Cornette, as the two join Dok Hendrix backstage, ahead of our upcoming Last Man Standing match....obviously it’s Cornette that does the talking.....and the man does like to talk.....saying that at Survivor Series, the Undertaker got lucky......he says that he threw everything he had at Kane and he STILL only won than match by a fraction of a second......but tonight, a fraction of a second just isn’t going to cut it......

”........because to win this match you’ve got to keep this monster of a man down for a count of ten.......and Deadman......I just don’t think you can do that......”

........Hendrix says that we will find out in just a few short moments if the Undertaker is indeed up to the task......before saying that Jim Cornette has been rather conspicuous by his absence as of late......in fact, with the exception of accompanying Kane to the ring for his matches, we haven’t seen him at all......

.......Cornette tells Hendrix not to worry about that.....he says first and foremost James E Cornette is a business man, and all good business men know a good deal when they see it.......

”.......which is why tonight will be the final time that you see Jim Cornette walking this Big Red Monster to the ring......because Vincent Kennedy McMahon has seen the potential and gore that burns behind those eyes, and he has secured the services of Kane for his own personal problem solver.....giving myself a VERY generous compensation package in exchange......but worry not, because you’ll still be hearing my dulcet tones around here......because while I may be a business man, I’m still a manager at heart........”

........Cornette holds up a sheet of paper, saying that the ink has just dried on this.....the contract between himself, and his newest client.......before thanking Kane for his services, telling him that Jim Cornette has a very special parting gift for him.......tonight......

Last Man Standing Match

It’s time now to reignite a feud that dates back to childhood......and it’s brother vs. brother as The Undertaker faces Kane for the first time since the Survivor Series......back then the Undertaker came out victorious in the very narrowest of margins, because even though the official registered the three count, Kane still managed to get his shoulder up a fraction of a second later......there will be no doubting the victor in this one though, because to win this match either The Undertaker or Kane will have to inflict enough damage that they are able to keep their opponent down for a count of ten.......

........so far this evening we have seen a ladder match, a street fight and a falls count anywhere match......all violent and anything goes matches......but also all very different......the light heavyweights dazzled with death defying high flying moves.....the street fight saw Ahmed, Sid and the LoD exchanging more punches and kicks than anything else......and the falls count anywhere match was just carnage, plain and simple......this one, this was more of a standard fight, with the added bonus that neither man could be disqualified......not that there wasn’t plenty of action, because Kane and the Deadman picked up right where they left off at Survivor Series.....and where they left off at Survivor Series, was the Undertaker hitting his baby brother with everything he’s got.....while Kane just keeps coming like some Halloween monster that just won’t die.....

......Kane tosses his big brother to the outside and sends him for a ride into the ring steps, before reaching under the ring and picking up a steel chair, stalking the Undertaker with it ominously.....before suddenly charging with it.....the Deadman is able to get a foot up however, driving the steel into the masked head of his brother.....he tosses Kane into the ring and tries to keep his momentum going, whipping his opponent hard into the corner and splashing into him twice before picking him up and dropping him on the top turnbuckle with Snake Eyes, before finishing his assault with a running big boot.....Kane goes down but it’s only good for a count of five before he’s back on his feet.....

......the Undertaker keeps up the offence, but never garners anything more than a six count before Kane is back to his feet.....and Cornette plays his part too, sliding a chair into his now former client, which Kane uses to double the Deadman over with a shot to the ribs and another across the back, before driving him into the corner with rights and lefts and a final throat thrust, before choking the life (death?) out of the Undertaker, whipping him hard into the opposite corner and delivering a big boot of his own that keeps Taker down for a seven count......the action spills to the outside but it doesn’t slow down any, and Kane drives his brothers spine into the ring post.....before taking a few steps back and hitting another big boot, crushing the Undertakers skull against the steel post with his foot, that COULD have finished the match there and then had the Deadman not been able to drag himself to his feet at a count of eight, with some help from the crowd barrier......

.......back inside the ring and the Undertaker has a small flurry of offence, before dragging Kane towards the corner and wrenching the arm, climbing to the top where he looks to walk the ropes.......Kane is ready for that however and yanks the arm of the Deadman, crotching him on the top rope, before climbing up and delivering a devastating Superplex that earns him a very close nine count......Jim Cornette attempts to interject himself into the match, picking up a steel chair and attempting to hand it to Kane.....but Paul Bearer snatched it away from him, chasing the loud mouthed manager to the back, leaving Kane and the Undertaker without any distractions at ringside.......

.......the two men tumble through the ropes and continue their brawling on the floor, fighting all the way up the aisle way and onto the entrance stage, when the Undertaker sends Kane flying into a large Wrestlemania logo, before catching him by the throat and delivering a hard, hard chokeslam onto the stage, that finally gives Taker some hope when Kane is only able to get back to his feet by the skin of his teeth as the officials count hits nine and a half.......Kane is back to his feet barely.....and he’s looking groggy as The Deadman runs a finger across his throat, before hoisting him up in position for the Tombstone........and if he hits this on the entrance way, then surely it will be over.......before he can deliver the final blow however, Jim Cornette comes running out from the back, still with his steel chair in hand......obviously (and unsurprisingly given his portly frame) he has managed to out run Paul Bearer......and he nails the Deadman in the back with the chair........The Undertaker releases his brother and turns to face Cornette.......luckily James E is wearing brown pants.......because if he wasn’t, he would be when the Deadman grips him by the throat and lifts him high in the air, looking to deliver a hard Chokeslam............

dnLuBx8.jpg

........which is when Ahmed Johnson of all people comes running out from the back to nail the Undertaker in the back of the head with an enormous piece of lumber......Jim Ross screams that this can’t be Jim Cornettes new client surely, but Rude says clearly that is the case......Taker drops to one knee....dropping Cornette in the process.....before slowly standing again......when Ahmed charges and uses the wood to clothesline Taker in the back of the head again, driving him forward into the waiting arms of Kane, who scoops him up.........and delivers a brutal Tombstone Piledriver on the stage.......and the Undertaker is down......and he stays down.......for a count of ten.......Kane has just defeated his brother at Wrestlemania.......and it’s all down to Ahmed Johnson.

It’s back to standard wrestling rules now, as the Hardy Boys get ready to face off against Edge and Christian.......these two teams have faced each other in singles action and six man action, but tonight marks the first time they step between the ropes and faced each other team against team........Edge and Christian made quite the auspicious entrance into the World Wrestling Federation, immediately targeting the Brothers Hardy to make their impact on the wrestling world......and they have been making their mark at the expense of Matt and Jeff ever since.......and the Hardy’s are looking for revenge tonight......

.......the match itself was good, and was a perfect showcase for these two teams who are lower down the totem pole of the Tag division.....and all four men worked hard to ensure that the world witnessed just how good the next generation of Tag Team wrestlers are.....they’re not big, they’re not bad......but they are athletic, they are entertaining, and more importantly, they are gaining popularity by the day......Matt and Jeff must have had aspersions of Championship glory following their run of success at the tail end of last year, especially with a huge victory over the Legion of Doom under their belt......the actions of Edge and Christian put those aspirations on the back burner for a while, but after a hard back and forth battle, Jeff Hardy was able to finish off Christian with a Swanton Bomb.....and you’ve got to assume that the Brothers Hardy will now be focusing on gaining a Championship opportunity.

From one set of brothers with Tag Team Titles on the mind, we head over to another......Bret and Owen Hart, who are with Dok Hendrix, and the brand new WWF European Champion, The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith......both brothers congratulate the Bulldog, before saying that in a few minutes, he won’t be the only member of the Hart Foundation holding gold.........Bret says that he’s been fighting an uphill battle against the KLiQ for twelve months now......last Wrestlemania, the KLiQ screwed him out of the World Wrestling Federation Championship.......they screwed Owen out of winning the WWF Championship......before screwing them out the opportunity to challenge for ANY title held by the KLiQ at Survivor Series.......

”........but we’re still here Dok......and we EARNED this shot tonight......tonight, we can finally put twelve months of crap behind us......tonight, we can finally shut the KLiQ up......and tonight we can finally shut the Nation of Domination up too.......I’m sick to death of hearing Faarooq blame every title shot they DON’T get, on us........tonight, we’re going to prove that the reason the Hart Foundation have had more Title opportunities than the Nation of Domination.......is because we’re BETTER than the Nation of Domination.......the Best there is......the Best there was.......[/](Bret pulls Owen in close, wrapping his arm around his brother)......and the Best there ever will be.......”

It’s put up or shut up time now, not only for the Hart Foundation, but for the Nation of Domination too.....the Harts claim to be the best there is, was and will be.....and only it’s only the fact that they have been constantly screwed over in every shot they’ve had that’s prevented them from walking into Wrestlemania as Champions......while the Nation claim that ONE shot is all they need.....but that one shot has been hard to come by.......the KLiQ on the other hand have held these WWF Tag Team Titles in one incarnation or another for the best part of the year.....they don’t need to claim anything, because they have the hardware around their waists that speaks for them.....

.......we have seen these three teams face off in two triple threat singles matches.....with the Nation and the KLiQ picking up a win a piece in those, meaning the Harts have something to prove tonight.....because a loss here makes them 0 for 3.....and both of those matches have been very, very good.....so the question is whether this match can live up to them.........and the answer is yes.....in fact it was better than very good, it was excellent. Every single competitor worked their ass off, even Scott Hall, who is still missing a step thanks to a tendon injury that he’s working through. The Rock and Faarooq particularly impressed, showing tremendous chemistry teaming together, and with the way they cut the ring off, isolating Owen Hart, you’d think they had been teaming together for years.....

.......Hall and Waltman seemed content to sit back and watch as The Nation and The Harts wore each other down, only really interjecting themselves into the match when it looked like a pinfall or submission was coming, after all, even though they are the Champions, there’s no champions advantage here, they can lose their titles without even being involved in the match, so while they were happy enough to remain on the apron, they still had to pay attention to what was going on inside the ring......eventually however, Waltman obviously realised that while the KLiQ couldn’t be pinned on the apron, they couldn’t actually win either, which is when he tells Faarooq to tag him into the match.....obviously the Nation leader refuses.....but Waltman makes the blind tag anyway.....and as the KLiQ and the Nation are arguing, pushing and shoving, Owen finally makes it to his corner where he tags big brother Bret Hart into the match......

.......that’s about the point that the match breaks down.....and it’s hard enough for one official to pay attention to everyone ewhen there are only four men in the match, let alone six.....because there are bodies flying everywhere......both Owen Hart and Sean Waltman try to out do each other, both hitting dives over the top, but Waltman tweaks his knee on the landing......and as Faarooq is going at it with Scott Hall, Bret Hart sends The Rock flying over the top rope, just as Owen chop blocks already hurt knee of Waltman, rolling him back into the ring to the Hitman, who’s waiting with a Sharpshooter for the Champion......or should that be former Champion......because as Owen slingshots himself over the top rope, crashing down onto Scott Hall and Faarooq, there’s nobody there to make the save, and Sean Waltman hammers the mat in submission......and FINALLY, the Harts have their moment in the sun.

We leave the Harts celebrating their victory in the ring, raising the WWF Tag Team Titles high for the approving fans, and head to a quick recap video featuring the saga of Scott Steiner and Shawn Michaels.....it’s nothing spectacular, just something to give the crowd time to breathe following that outstanding match they have just witnessed.....we see Scottys King of the Ring “Championship win”.....only to see his hopes and dreams shattered the following night.....we see his Intercontinental Title victory.....his Royal Rumble win.....and finally we see Shawn Michaels standing tall over a beaten down Big Poppa Pump, with the WWF World and Intercontinental Championship held overhead.....before we go back down to ringside......because it’s time for the main event.

And with that it’s finally time for our main event of the evening.....and it’s Champion vs Champion, Title vs. Title......as World Wrestling Federation Champion Shawn Michaels faces off against World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion Scott Steiner.....and this match hasn’t just been building since Big Poppa Pump won the 1997 Royal Rumble.....this match has been building since June of 1996.....the King of the Ring to be precise.....and the night that Scott Steiner defeated the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels clean as a whistle in the middle of the ring, for what he THOUGHT was his very first WWF Championship.....he thought wrong though, because although the victory was upheld, the Championship was returned to Shawn Michaels thanks to the most obscure of loopholes.....a loophole we have since found out, was constructed by none other than the owner of the World Wrestling Federation himself, Vincent Kennedy McMahon.....

......it’s been a long road for Scott Steiner to get where he is today.....he’s been betrayed by his own brother, captured the Intercontinental Championship......defended that Championship and won the Royal Rumble in the same night.....he’s overcome every road block that Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon have put in his way.......but tonight might be the biggest road block of all....because not only does he have Shawn Michaels to contend with, but Vince McMahon has stacked the deck even more, by ordering a tired looking Scott Hall and Sean Waltman to accompany the Champion to ringside.....and while McMahon takes up a seat at the commentary table, he reminds us that there are no disqualifications in this one......no matter WHO gets involved.....

........the match gets underway, and it’s very, very good......and while the no disqualification rule is in effect, for the most part this is your standard wrestling match. Scotty starts off strong......and by strong I mean strong.....because he uses all of his superior power to toss the Champion around like a rag doll.....and if someone knows how to sell an ass kicking, it’s the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels, who makes Big Poppa Pump look like a million dollars.....and it’s only with the assistance of Hall and Waltman at ringside that Michaels is able to gain the advantage, otherwise this one could have been over before it even really began......

......finally in the driving seat, Shawn Michaels shows exactly why he has been “The Man” around here for one solid year now, because it doesn’t matter how big you are, how strong you are......Shawn Michaels will find a way to grind you down.....of course it helps when there is a no disqualification rule in effect, because it means that Shawn can use the odd shortcut to make sure he stays on top.......and if Steiner starts to fight back, we’ll it only takes a thumb to the eye, a low blow, or a little bit of distraction from the KLiQ to ensure that Michaels remains in control......and the announcers begin to question exactly how much abuse Scott Steiner can take, before we see the crowning of a new Intercontinental Champion......

......to Steiner’s credit, you don’t defeat an opponent the caliber of a Mr. Perfect AND win the Royal Rumble in the same night without knowing how to fight through the pain......and that’s exactly what Steiner does here, ducking a Sweet Chin Music attempt, spinning around......and almost taking HBK’s head off with a huge Steinerline.....and from there, Big Poppa Pump is back in the match.....and while Michaels thinks he can hide behind the KLiQ at ringside, Steiner sends Waltman into the ringsteps with a big overhead belly to belly, that sees both of Waltmans knees collide with the nearby steel steps, putting him out of commission.....Hall tries to run interference, but Steiner almost takes his head off with the steel pipe, laying him out......before returning his attention to a now frantic looking Heartbreak Kid......who screams at McMahon that this wasn’t part of the plan....to his credit, Vince doesn’t bat an eye, telling Shawn to relax, because he’s got this.....except he don’t got this.....what he’s got as a vicious beating at the hands of Big Poppa Pump......

......Michaels scrambles over to the announce table, trying his best to use McMahon as a human shield.....but Steiner drags Vince from the announce booth out of the way.....and Steiner hits another big overhead belly to belly, this time sending Michaels crashing into McMahon......Vince is obviously furious at this, not that Steiner cares, because he tosses Michaels back into the ring.......and locks in the Steiner Recliner.......and that’s when Vince calls for re-enforcements........

tVfGex3.jpgiXAv5bk.jpg46EV5Y1.jpg

.......and McMahons new problem solver, Kane makes his way out from the back, along with Brian Pillman and Lance Storm......Steiner releases the hold as he sees the three men entering the ring, and does his best to try and fight them off......but it’s three against one......and when one of those three is Kane, the odds get even worse......and with Shawn Michaels directing traffic, Pillman, Storm and Kane proceed to destroy Scott Steiner.......until finally the Heartbreak Kid tells Kane to finish him off. The Big Red Monster is happy to oblige, lifting Steiner up and positioning him for the Tombstone Piledriver........and that’s when a wolf howls.........

......and Big Sexy Kevin Nash comes walking out from the back......wearing a red shirt emblazoned with the same wolf logo that has been the calling card for our recent stint of assaults......as our (not so) mystery attacker makes his way out to a thunderous response......

.......Shawn orders Kane to drop Steiner, and frantically sends him after Nash, as he tells Pillman, Storm.....and the recovered Hall and Nash to form a circle and protect him from a p*ssed off Big Sexy......and Kane does indeed charge at the lone wolf on the floor.......but he’s met with a big boot to the face in the aisle......and as Kane hits the floor, Nash produces a set of handcuffs from his pocket and secures the Big Red Monster to the crowd rail......before simply stepping over him and heading towards the ring, where he steps one big long leg onto the apron and climbs up........

........Shawn is in hysterics by now and turns to tell his men to attack.......but the crowd erupts and Michaels eyes look about ready to pop out of his head.........

........Shawn looks to make a run for it, but he runs straight into Kevin Nash, who smiles......waves......and then points behind Michaels......who turns around......and eats a huge Steinerline from Big Poppa Pump.......and right there in the middle of the ring, Scotty locks in the Steiner Recliner once more........and this time there’s no one to make the save......and nine months after their first meeting, Shawn Michaels screams out in submission.......and we have a brand new, World Wrestling Federation Champion.......and his name is Scott Steiner.

The year long reign of the Heartbreak Kid is at an end, and fittingly, the men that were there to help start the reign, were also the ones there to help end the reign......the official hands an emotional Scott Steiner both the Intercontinental and the WWF Championship, and Big Poppa Pump stares down at that Winged Eagle belt that has evaded him for so long.....he thought he'd become the World Wrestling Federation Champion nine months ago, that wasn't to be the case.......but tonight there is no doubting the fact that Scott Steiner is the Champion of the World......

......there's no doubting that the final nail has been put into the coffin of the KLiQ tonight either because Hall, Nash and Waltman embrace in the ring, before Waltman tells a hastily retreating Shawn Michaels to "Suck It".......and the red and black clad trio turn to face a Scott Steiner who is still staring down at both Championships......

........the Double Champion looks up to see Kevin Nash walking towards him......and wearily gets to his feet, ready to fight should he need to.....but he doesn't need to, because much like at the Royal Rumble, Nash simply outstretches his big gloved fist in congratulations, and the two men bump knuckles, before Hall and Waltman raise a hand of the Champion each, just as an explosion of pyro over head signals the end of Wrestlemania XIII......goodnight folks.

So that was Wrestlemania.....and as far as the reviews go it was an absolute success.....for me however it was a little bit of a disappointment. Not that the boys are to blame, but quite a few of the matches I had high hopes for were hampered by terrible timing and chemistry issues....the Steve Austin/Brian Pillman match was the biggest let down....the crowd loved it, both men worked their asses off....it was a good match......but for some reason Austin and Pillman just didn't click and it certainly hampered the match because I was expecting so much more.....likewise Cactus Jack and Raven, while they may be magic on the microphone with each other, they ain't so magic when it's time to step between the ropes, because they didn't click either......and just to top it off, Jericho and Storm had the worst chemistry of them all.....I mean, I wasn't expecting a five star classic by any stretch, but I did expect a little more than I got......you live and learn though, some guys just don't gel......unfortunately for me, half my roster didn't gel tonight......well ok, not quite half the roster, but it WAS a third of the card.....

.......the matches that DID deliver however, delivered in a big way.....Bret Hart did what Bret Hart does best, and that's pull a match of the year calibre match out the bag yet again.....even slightly edging out the main event, although the fact that Shawn had to be protected slightly, since the Boy Toy wasn't entirely happy about dropping the title....(hey Shawn, you know you held that title for a solid year right?)......coupled with the shenanigans at the end probably contributed to that.....Undertaker and Kane put on a classic too.....that puts them at one win a piece, but don't look for their feud to continue anytime soon, I'm guessing that the Deadman is going to be too busy with Ahmed Johnson in the coming weeks to have any time for Kane......speaking of Kane, a lot of people were surprised to see him win, stating that the Undertaker has never lost at Wrestlemania.........so what? Tatanka was undefeated at Wrestlemania as well, and nobody complained when he did the job last year. Taker beat an ageing Jimmy Snuka, a drunk Jake Roberts....the lumbering Giant Gonzalez....King Kong Bundy? The only respectable win he had was against Kevin Nash last year.....what was he supposed to do stay undefeated for the next twenty years? As if that would ever work.....plus Kane is supposed to be the Big Red Monster........and what could possibly be more impressive than defeating the Undertaker on the grandest stage of them all? Although, if Kane hadn't handed me the signed contract that tied him into a brand new four year deal with the WWF on the morning of Wrestlemania, this result would have been a whole lot different.....

......but thats enough talk about this years Wrestlemania, it's time to start working towards next years Wrestlemania.....the KLiQ are dead, the new generation is dead, the landscape has changed and we have a brand new champion along with a brand new attitude......the KLiQ was always going to be a year long story that ended where it began, in almost the same vein as it began. Sure we hit a few stumbling blocks along the way (*coughHHHcough*) and it certainly wasn't Scott Steiner that I had originally earmarked to be winning the main event of Wrestlemania when I started planning this story back in the tail end of 1995, but that's just the nature of the business.....the KLiQ birthed a new attitude, now it's time to see where that new attitude takes us.....starting tomorrow night, live....on Monday Night Raw....

Thank you to everyone that predicted, and by my reckoning crackerjack just scraped it with 12 points, so well done sir, expect your prize in your mail box in the next few days. Please feel free to check your scores folks, especially since there was only one point in it and I'm known more for my devilish good looks and sparkling wit rather than my math skills......for what it's worth, the match of the night was actually a tie, Undertaker/Kane and the KLiQ/Harts/Nation matches both scored a 93....(Shawn/Steiner scored a 92 incidentally). The worst match was indeed the Mero/DeMott match at 71.....the next lowest score was the Ladder match at 76, however since I neglected to mention whether the pre-show was included in the prediction then either answer is fine.....we had three title changes, the World, the Tag and the Light Heavyweight.....oh, and not that a tie breaker was needed, but the Main Event came in at 23:41
