- Hopefully Sting's morale didn't take a hit on that loss. I like Storm and am glad to see he's getting in the main events now, but I don't see Sting dropping the title to him, especially on Nitro.

He was protected during the match and that seems to have been enough to prevent any issues.

The match goes back and forth, with the veteran Luger taking advantage of every shortcut he can find, while Chuck Palumbo relies on a mix of strength and agility to stay in the match. The finish comes when Palumbo has Luger lined up for a super kick, but... <img alt="tjPJopW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tjPJopW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> The other half othe WCW Tag Team Champions, Buff Bagwell, sprints down to the ring and gets up on the apron to distract Palumbo. Palumbo takes a shot at Bagwell, but Buff jumps off the apron before Palumbo can get to him. The distraction works to perfection as Palumbo then turns around and walks right into the Torture Rack! With nowhere to go, Palumbo has no choice but to submit to the Rack, like so many have done before him. Lex Luger defeated Chuck Palumbo at 8.06 by submission with the Torture Rack following a distraction from Buff Bagwell (C+) <img alt="rxMZSbm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rxMZSbm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> The match is over and "The Total Package" Lex Luger has stolen a win here with the help of his tag team partner, Buff Bagwell. Not giving the Tag Team Champions any chance to inflict more damage, Sean O'Haire sprints down to the ring and chases off both members of Totally Buff, who are all-too-pleased with themselves as they make their way back up the ramp, smiling and laughing and telling the world that they are the Tag Team Champions. Bigelow says that he thought Kanyon was his friend, yet while he was going through one of the toughest times of his life in rehab, he didn't see or hear from Kanyon even once. Kanyon says that if Bam Bam really wants the truth then he'll give it to him. He says that the truth is that he never thought of Bam Bam as a friend--he was just a tool, a means to an end. And, truth be told, getting away from Bam Bam was the best thing that could have happened to him because he's moved up on the world since then to bigger and better things, and he's got nothing more to say to Bam Bam. Kanyon then drops the mic and he and Stacy head into the back , leaving Bam Bam Bigelow looking both confused and pissed off in the ring. Gene asks if Scott is going to get involved tonight, but Scott tells Gene that "The Genetic Freak" does whatever he wants whenever he damn well feels like it, just like he does with his freaks, and nobody can do a damn thing about it because he's the man with the largest arms in the world and he'll put his foot down the throat of anyone who gets in his way! As the Steiners and Midajah walk off, with Scott still ranting and Rick barking, Gene sends us back to ringside. "The Cat" defeated Jason Jett at 3.13 by pinfall with the Feliner (D+) After the match, "The Cat" gets on the mic and cuts a promo, mocking Ric Flair, calling him "The Nature Grandpa" and saying that Flair is probably sitting in his "old folks home" right now playing bingo... <img alt="zah6nFe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zah6nFe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> But that if when "The Nature Boy" comes out from the back and charges to the ring! Flair immediately goes after "The Cat", but "The Cat" bails out of the ring, wanting no part of Flair here tonight. Flair takes off his jacket and throws it after "The Cat", then tells him that "you won't be able to run forever, you son-of-a-b!tch!" Tony Schiavone notes that with everything "The Cat" has done to Ric Flair in recent weeks, he sure wouldn't want to the in his shoes when Flair finally gets his hands on him. Booker gets on the mic and says that Nash talks a big game for a guy who likes to walk away from a fight, but if Nash actually has the guts to show up next week...Booker is more than happy to accept the challenge. Booker then hands the mic to Rey, who says that DDP has got it all wrong. He says that he has a ton of respect for DDP--in fact, he had nothing but respect for him right up until he stabbed him in the back. Rey says that he'll be Booker's tag team partner next week, and that the two of them will teach Page and Nash a few things about respect. As Rey drops the mic, Tony Schiavone drives home the fact that we've got a huge tag team match set for next week! Savage says that Jarrett not only robbed him of that opportunity, he stole the Tag Team Titles from him as well. Savage says that there is nothing he won't do to get another shot at the World Title, just like there is nothing he won't do to be able to wrap his hands around Jarrett's throat, so he'll agree to put his career on the line at Starrcade--HOWEVER, he wants a stipulation of his own. Savage says that if he's gonna put his career on the line, it's gonna go down between him and Jarrett and no one else. "No Luger, no Bagwell, no Bischoff...just you...and me!" he says to Jarrett. The crowd seems to like that, and Savage continues by saying that he wants their match at Starrcade to be...a Steel Cage match! After surviving an initial flurry from the World Champion, Lance Storm goes back to the strategy that worked so well for him last week as he focuses in on Sting's left leg, pulling and stretching it in various submission holds. This works for a while, but even on one good leg, Sting is still a tough man to beat and the World Champion fights his way back into the match, though it is clear that the work done by Storm on Sting's left leg over the last two weeks is slowing him down and limiting his movement. This is all to clear when Sting leapfrogs Storm, but as he lands on the mat he immediately grabs his leg, which Storm quickly takes advantage of with a chop block from behind to take Sting off his feet. Storm tries to apply the Canadian Maple Leaf, but Sting is able to fight him off before he can do so. He was so close to picking up his first ever World Championship. But Storm wastes too much time dealing with his disbelief and Sting is back to his feet to greet him with punches and kicks as he turns around. Still bothered by his left leg but fighting through the pain, Sting beats Storm in the corner and hits a Stinger Splash! Storm is on shaky legs as he staggers out of the corner and right into a Scorpion Deathdrop, which ends the match in a successful title defense as the referee counts the one-two-three. Sting defeated Lance Storm at 13.58 by pinfall with the Scorpion Deathdrop. Also, I'm kinda thrilled that you mentioned The Cat's push because that push and his feud with Flair has become a bit of a personal favorite of mine, so it's great to see it get some mention.

Just like the conversation about realism going on over in my thread, I find it very realistic that Miller, Totally Buff, and the Mamalukes are getting a push here. A lot of 2001 games would just look at these guys' stats and job them off the map, but WCW were really pushing them in 2000. There's no reason to believe (and, of course, no evidence to the contrary) that they wouldn't have continued to do so if they kept living through 2001. Now, I can't say I'm not guilty of letting Ernest become a bit of a JTTS, but here's your game propping him up so well in ways that mine doesn't.

Some people give Ernest Miller a main event feud, others give Konnan a championship. Now for predictions...

Sting - One thing I think we can all agree on though, is that Rick Steiner tends to not win when against the big names.

The Insiders - The newfound heelness of Nash and Page secures them a (not so squeaky clean) victory.

Sting stands at the top of the entrance ramp and soaks in the cheers for a few moments, and then he tells Scott that he ought to know better than to think that the Stinger is just going to hand the title over. Sting says that what Scott calls "screwing with him", he calls being a good champion--a fighting champion. Sting is about to continue, but then Scott cuts him off, saying that if Sting wants to be a fighting champion, how about a fight tonight between him and "The Dog-faced Gremlin"? Rick starts barking as Scott lays out the challenge, which Sting accepts, saying that it looks like it's going to be showtime tonight! After Luger hits O'Haire from behind when the referee's back is turned, Chuck Palumbo goes after Luger, causing quite the distraction at ringside. Amidst this distraction, "Buff Daddy" hits a low blow on Sean O'Haire and rolls him up from behind, grabbing hold of his tights for good measure, and just like that the Tag Team Champions steal another victory here tonight. Buff Bagwell defeated Sean O'Haire at 7.34 by pinfall with a roll-up after hitting a low blow (B-) The match is over and Buff Bagwell has stolen a victory against Sean O'Haire, but there is no time for "Buff Daddy" to celebrate as Chuck Palumbo immediately slides into the ring to chase Bagwell off, but it's obvious that both Palumbo and O'Haire are frustrated at having been one-upped once again by Totally Buff. Luger and Bagwell are all smiles as they make their way back up the ramp, laughing and bragging about outsmarting O'Haire and Palumbo for the second week in a row. Just like the conversation about realism going on over in my thread, I find it very realistic that Miller, Totally Buff, and the Mamalukes are getting a push here. A lot of 2001 games would just look at these guys' stats and job them off the map, but WCW were really pushing them in 2000. There's no reason to believe (and, of course, no evidence to the contrary) that they wouldn't have continued to do so if they kept living through 2001. Now, I can't say I'm not guilty of letting Ernest become a bit of a JTTS, but here's your game propping him up so well in ways that mine doesn't.

Some people give Ernest Miller a main event feud, others give Konnan a championship. Now for predictions...

Once in the ring, Eric Bischoff gets on the mic and says that as the owner of WCW, it is his duty to ensure that everyone gets their money's worth and that everyone gets a fair shot (the last part he says with a smug grin on his face, naturally). As such, Bischoff says that he has no choice but to ban Randy Savage from the building tonight because Jarrett has a match later tonight and they do not trust Savage not to get involved. Jarrett takes over and says that Randy will get what's coming to him at Starrcade, but tonight he can get a little preview of what his life will be like after Starrcade when he's sitting at home, retired. The crowd boos, but then suddenly Savage's music hits... Standing at the top of the ramp, Savage says that it's just like Bischoff to try to keep him away, but the "Macho Man" is here anyway and he wants a piece of Jeff Jarrett tonight! Scott says that after he takes out that piece of trash Dustin Rhodes, he's gonna party all night long with his freaks here in Florida, and as far as Sting is concerned, he take spend some time booking himself a nice vacation here in Florida because once "The Genetic Freak" breaks every bone in his body at Starrcade, he's gonna have plenty of time to soak up some sun while "The Big Bad Booty Daddy" destroys everyone in his path. Scott then tells Dustin Rhodes to bring his ass to the ring and take his beating like a man! Dustin is a fighter, however, and potentially a future main eventer in WCW, and he doesn't back down from Steiner here. It is a good match that sees Dustin hold his own for a bit, which is no easy feat to accomplish against "The Genetic Freak", but in the end Scott is just too good, too strong, and despite a heroic effort, Rhodes eventually falls victim to the Steiner Recliner and he has no choice but to submit. Scott Steiner defeated Dustin Rhodes at 9.05 by submission with the Steiner Recliner (B) The match is over but Scott Steiner is once again refusing to release the Recliner. The referee knows that he has no chance in hell of forcing Scott to break it, so all he can do is plead with "Big Poppa Pump" to please release the hold, which doesn't seem to have much of an effect on Scott, who keeps the Recliner locked in and Rhodes is fading fast. <img alt="7PSSM69.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7PSSM69.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> The crowd suddenly erupts with cheers as Sting runs down to the ring and a huge brawl erupts between the two men who will headline Starrcade. It is an even fight until "The Dog-faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner joins the brawl as well, turning it into a two on one battle, and for the second week in a row, Nitro comes to an end with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion locked in the Steiner Recliner in the middle of the ring!
