OOC: So..yeah, I've decided to go back to the WCW Lives mod, officially abandoning my 97 WCW game for various reasons. I'm excited to return to WCW Lives. I very much enjoyed my last WCW Lives diary and I feel like I've got tons of ideas that I never got to do in that game, so this will be very different from the previous quest in terms of that, but hopefully just as fun to play and write.

The first show is The Big Bang pay per view and the card for that will be up soon!

Bischoff waits for the cheers from the crowd to die down a bit, and then he says that the rumors of WCW’s demise have been greatly exaggerated! Bischoff says that WCW is officially back in business and that a new era of professional wrestling starts tonight with WCW right in the middle of it. After some more cheers from the crowd, Bischoff says that it’s time to get down to business because he knows that everyone didn’t come here to listen to him go on and on, but there are a few things he needs to touch on. For one, all of the championships have been vacated as part of the company’s restart. Bischoff says that he wants to start things off with a clean slate, but everyone who held a title prior to tonight will get their chance to win the title back tonight—with one exception…Booker T. The crowd boos, but Bischoff explains that Booker T has not been cleared to compete yet by the medical staff, which is why he’s not getting the same opportunity as the other champions, but Bischoff promises that as soon as Booker T is cleared he’ll go right to the front of the line of contenders for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship! Bischoff then wraps things up by saying that he’s talked enough and now it’s time for some action, but he does add that everyone in this building tonight, and everyone watching at home, are all a part of history in the making because tonight is the beginning of WCW’s return to greatness! <strong>(B+)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW Cruiserweight Championship</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/yQlOLne.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/DeMllKw.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/O0I3vYs.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/4UbzsRf.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/TqDQ0Kz.jpg</span>w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/YJdjdt3.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The Big Bang’s opening match is a fatal four way for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship as “Sugar” Shane Helms looks to reclaim the title, but Billy Kidman, Elix Skipper and Cash all have their sights set on the same goal. The action in this one is fast-paced and chaotic most of the time, with bodies flying everywhere as all four men put it all on the line. Helms comes close to regaining his title when he drops Cash with his Vertebreaker, but "Prime Time" Elix Skipper is there to break up the pin attempt just before the three count. Skipper sends Helms flying over the top rope and out of the ring, then tries to cover Cash himself, but Billy Kidman breaks it up this time. Kidman and Skipper go at it until Kidman catches Skipper coming off the ropes and driving him to the mat with a BK Bomb. As Cash rolls out of the ring as well, the ring is left to Elix Skipper, who is down on the mat, and Billy Kidman, who is climbing to the top rope. As Torrie Wilson cheers on at ringside, Kidman leaps off the turnbuckle and nails a picture perfect Shooting Star Press! Kidman covers and picks up the three count, the win and the Cruiserweight Championship as Shane Helms is a second too late in breaking up the pin!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy Kidman defeated Elix Skipper, Shane Helms and Cash at 8.09 by pinfall when Kidman pinned Skipper following a Shooting Star Press. Ric Flair says that he can't think of anyone more fitting to be the first World Heavyweight Champion of the new era of WCW than "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell were recorded together, with Luger saying the other eighteen men in the match might as well give up right now because they are Totally Buffed and they'll be the last two men in the ring. Buff Bagwell adds that everyone can try to deny it all they want, but none of them can hold a candle to Totally Buffed and their jealousy over it is eating them alive! <strong>©</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW United States Championship Tournament Semi Final</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/IJIxeY2.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/v70H8HK.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The long-standing rivalry between Lance Storm and Hugh Morrus is renewed here tonight as they square off with a spot in the US Title Tournament Final hanging in the balance. This is a solid back and forth match that sees Morrus take control early on, but Lance Storm uses his impressive technical skills to slowly take control of the match, forcing Morrus to the mat and keeping him there as much as possible. Morrus does mount a comeback, hitting a pair of high impact clotheslines in the corner, nearly crushing Storm in the process, and then he drives him into the mat with a powerslam. Morrus calls for his moonsault and starts climbing to the top, but Storm manages to roll out of the way and Morrus crashes and burns. Morrus is slow to get up and when he does, Storm takes him down again with a superkick. Storm then applies the Canadian Maple Leaf and although he tries to fight it, Morrus is left with no choice but to tap out.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Lance Storm defeated Hugh Morrus by submission at 8.36 with the Canadian Maple Leaf. This is very much a matchup of contrasting styles as Rey Misterio Jr. looks to pick up the pace whenever possible, while the veteran Finlay looks to do the exact opposite. Finlay struggles early on in this one as Rey is simply too quick for the irish brawler, but when he finally does catch Rey the feel of the match changes as Finlay starts to wear Rey down with his physically intense and punishing style. It looks like it is only a matter of time before Finlay inflicts more damage than Rey can absorb, and Tony Schiavone even says that the end is "mercifully near" when Finlay looks to plant Rey with a Tombstone Piledriver. But Rey is able to squirm his way out of it and just like that the match changes again as Rey picks up the pace, hitting Finlay with dropkicks, headscissors, and a tornado DDT! Rey then hits his Springboard Hurricanrana and one...two...three!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rey Misterio Jr. defeated Fit Finlay at 8.36 by pinfall with a Springboard Hurricanrana. It is obvious that the young team of O'Haire and Palumbo are getting increasingly frustrated by the tactics of their veteran opponents, who continue to stall and take every shortcut they can find throughout this match. The situation finally explodes when Buff Bagwell pulls O'Haire down from the apron just before Palumbo makes it to the corner to tag him in, and Bagwell then laughs in O'Haire's face about, prompting O'Haire to chase him around the ring. As the referee loses focus on what's going on in the ring because of Bagwell and O'Haire's actions outside, Lex Luger uses the opportunity to fish a pair of brass knuckles out of his tights and he uses them to blast Chuck Palumbo! Luger then rolls Palumbo up, even hooking the tights for good measure, but the referee doesn't see it and he makes the three count while Buff Bagwell prevents O'Haire from getting back into the ring to break up the pin.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Totally Buffed defeated Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire at 10.27 by pinfall when Luger pinned Palumbo after using a pair of brass knuckles and then hooking the tights as well. Nash says that when it comes to battle royals it's real simple; the biggest dog in the fight wins. He says that nobody is going to be able to throw him over the top rope, and "Big Sexy" is walking out of here tonight with the WCW World Heavyweight Title. Scott Steiner says that he's "Big Poppa Pump", he's "The Genetic Freak" and he's the next World Heavyweight Champion, and he'll run straight through anyone who gets in his way! Finally, DDP says that he can't think of anything more fitting than to finish off the first pay per view of the new era of WCW with "The People's Champion" celebrating his newly won World Title with all of the WCW fans in attendance tonight! <strong>(A)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW United States Championship Tournament Final</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/BtqI9mq.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/iv846pY.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/IJIxeY2.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Both men have already been in action once tonight but Mike Tenay points out that Lance Storm and Rey Misterio Jr. are both in phenomenal shape and he fully expects both men to have plenty left in the tank. Tony also points out that both men are scheduled to be a part of the main event battle royal for the World Title, meaning one of these men could walk out of here tonight as a double champion. This is a good match that sees Lance Storm attempt to do the same thing Finlay attempted to do earlier; keep Misterio grounded and prevent him from getting his high-paced, high-flying offense going. Mike Tenay calls Storm a great in-ring general who has come up with a great gameplan for neutralizing Rey's greatest advantage. Rey never stops fighting back, however, and it makes for a good back and forth affair that sees both men control the match for roughly the same amount of time. As Rey comes off the ropes, Storm attempts his roll through into the Canadian Maple Leaf, but Rey is able to reverse it and hit a hurricanrana that sends Storm through the ropes and out onto the floor! Rey doesn't allow start any time to recover, however, as he follows after him as soon as he is able, but Storm is ready and he drives Rey back first into the ring apron. Storm scoop slams Rey onto the floor and then quickly rolls him back into the ring for a cover, but Rey kicks out after two and a half. Frustrated, Storm argues the count with the referee, wanting a faster count, but the referee maintains that it was a two count only. Storm then lines up for a superkick, but Rey is able to duck it and roll Storm up, almost picking up the win as Storm just barely kicks out before the three count. Storm is quick to get to his feet but Rey is quicker, hitting an armdrag takedown, then a headscissor takedown, and then planting Storm with a sitout facebuster. Sensing the end could be near, everyone's on their feet as Rey sets up, and hits, his Springboard Tornado DDT, covering Storm for the three count and the huge win!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rey Misterio Jr. defeated Lance Storm at 14.44 by pinfall with a Springboard Tornado DDT. Mike Tenay says that being the first champion of the new era is not only a huge honor, but it will also set the stage for things to come, and you could really position yourself to be major player in WCW for years to come. Tony says that twenty men, chosen by Eric Bischoff, will battle it out in the ring. A competitor is eliminated if he is thrown over the top rope and onto the floor, and the last man standing in the ring will be the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Tony then sends us down to the ring for our main event of the evening. <strong>(B+)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW World Heavyweight Championship</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Sk5LgZj.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/rxMZSbm.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/NBNbcUS.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/SvNacxY.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/aiJ3oYx.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/6eOQ29A.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/zah6nFe.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/gBHsAwo.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/iv846pY.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/7bFbOrf.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/Gc4aCsx.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/IJIxeY2.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/YiAV5xv.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/epiwJ9r.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/v4ps6Ig.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/t5bgsE2.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/v70H8HK.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/DJ2iKSh.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/1S9VfKR.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/qc8WHPD.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/tjPJopW.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The match hasn't even officially gotten underway before Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo make a beeline for Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell, looking to extract for revenge for what happened earlier tonight. Their revenge is short-lived, however, as their inexperience ends up costing them big time here as they are both so focused on Luger and Bagwell that they never see the Steiner Brothers coming up from behind and dumping both <strong>O'Haire</strong> and <strong>Palumbo</strong> out of the ring for a surprising early elimination as Tony notes that this really isn't O'Haire and Palumbo's night. It is chaos everywhere in the ring, and Tony is suddenly surprised to see Kevin Nash standing outside the ring. Tony asks if "Big Sexy" was eliminated, but Mike Tenay is there to inform him that Nash actually left the ring on his own and through the ropes, so he's not eliminated. Nash remains outside the ring, watching, as DDP tries to eliminate Rick Steiner, only to be clobbered from behind by Scott Steiner. The Steiner Brothers team up to beat DDP down, and this finally gets "Big Sexy" back into the ring as he comes to DDP's aid. <strong>"The Cat" Ernest Miller</strong> is the next one to be eliminated as he is sent flying over the top rope by Mike Awesome, and Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell work together to eliminate <strong>Hugh Morrus</strong> as well. The eliminations slow down for a bit as we hit a few minutes of near-eliminations and otherwise just wearing each other down. Luger and Bagwell noticeably continue working together, as do the Steiner Brothers and, to some extent, The Insiders as well. Ric Flair and Road Warrior Animal are going at it in one of the corners, with Flair lighting Animal up with some knife edge chops, and Lance Storm is trying to get some payback on Rey Misterio Jr. as he tries to get him over the top rope on the opposite side of the ring, but he can't quite get him over.</p><p> </p><p> Mike Awesome gets his second elimination of the match as he clotheslines <strong>Shawn Stasiak </strong> over and out, but then <strong>Mike Awesome</strong> is eliminated himself as Mark Jindrak runs up behind him and dumps him over the top rope. Scott Steiner then eliminates <strong>Mark Jindrak</strong> and almost eliminates Dustin Rhodes as well, but Rhodes just barely manages to hang onto the ropes to save himself. <strong>The Franchise" Shane Douglas</strong> is dumped over the top rope by Kevin Nash, and <strong>Konnan</strong> is eliminated on the opposite side of the ring by Scott Steiner. <strong>Animal</strong> and <strong>Dustin Rhodes </strong>are both trying to eliminate each other, but both end up getting eliminated as Diamond Dallas Page surprises them and dumps them both out. With the action still going on everywhere, Tony notes that we are down to nine men; Lex Luger, Buff Bagwell, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, Rey Misterio Jr., Lance Storm, DDP, Rick Steiner, and Ric Flair. </p><p> </p><p> Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger stand in one corner, The Steiner Brothers in another, and The Insiders in the third. Ric Flair, Lance Storm and Rey Misterio Jr. are all in the middle, without allies. The Insiders square off with The Steiner Brothers, while Luger and Bagwell target the smallest man in the ring; Rey Misterio Jr. This ends up backfiring on them, however, as Rey uses his quickness to his advantage and suddenly <strong>Buff Bagwell</strong> is sent over the top rope and out of the ring by Misterio. A furious Lex Luger then tries to eliminate Rey, but Rey manages to stay in it. Elsewhere in the ring, <strong>Lance Storm</strong> finds himself eliminated by "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash. Scott Steiner tries to eliminate Nash, but Nash is able to fight him off. However, DDP uses the opportunity to eliminate <strong>Rick Steiner</strong> and now it's down to the last six men. Scott Steiner, furious at the elimination of his brother, takes his frustrations out on <strong>"The Total Package" Lex Luger</strong> who, despite putting up a good fight, finds himself eliminated at the hands of "Big Poppa Pump". It's down to the final five and Ric Flair looks to make it the final four as he has Rey Misterio Jr. up on his shoulders, looking for the elimination, but just before Flair can dump Rey over, Rey reverses it into a headscissor and he sends <strong>The Nature Boy" Ric Flair</strong> over the rop rope and out of the match! Flair's eyes go wide and he is absolutely beside himself outside the ring!</p><p> </p><p> Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page and the United States Champion Rey Misterio Jr. are the final four, and the announcers are full of admiration for Rey Misterio Jr. who has already competed in two matches prior to this one and who now finds himself in the final four with a shot at walking out of here as both the World Champion and the United States Champion. Sadly, it is not to be as <strong>Rey Misterio Jr.'s</strong> amazing run is brought to an end by "Big Poppa Pump" who hoists Rey up in a military press and tosses him out of the ring for the elimination. It's down to Scott Steiner and The Insiders, Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page, and Tony wonders if it was smart strategy for Steiner to eliminate Rey, leaving himself alone with The Insiders, but Steiner just continues the attack, taking the fight to both Page and Nash, hitting belly to belly suplexes on both men. Steiner continues his dominance and he never lets the numbers game become an issue because he successfully manages to eliminate <strong>Diamond Dallas Page</strong> before The Insiders could even think about teaming up against Steiner. </p><p> </p><p> It's down to "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner and "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash and Steiner immediately tries to eliminate Nash as well, but Nash is able to save himself by connecting with a couple of well placed elbow shots to the jaw of Steiner. Nash drops Steiner with a sidewalk slam and both men are slow to get up, both exhausted from the grueling match. When they finally do get up they exchange some big time punches in the center of the ring until Steiner just charges at Nash and forces him back into the ropes. Steiner hooks the leg of Nash as he tries to dump him over and he almost does so, but Nash saves himself by sticking a finger into each of Steiner's eyes. With "FreakZilla" momentarily blinded, the ever-opportunistic Kevin Nash grabs <strong>Scott Steiner</strong> and dumps him over the top rope to end the match and pick up a HUGE win!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Kevin Nash defeated nineteen other men at 31.33 to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship (B-)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/YiAV5xv.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash can barely stand on his feet as the bell rings and he is handed the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, but he has defeated nineteen other men to become the first WCW World Heavyweight Champion of the new era! Bischoff grabs a mic, enters the ring and, with a smile on his face, he congratulates Nash on picking up a huge win here at The Big Bang. Bischoff pauses for a bit, but then he adds that, unfortunately, Nash's celebrations might be a tad bit...premature. A confused Nask asks what the hell is going on, and Bischoff explains that while Nash did indeed win the battle royal, and the World Heavyweight Championship, there is one more person he must face tonight before he can celebrate. And that person....as Bischoff stalls, that very person slides into the ring behind Nash, who doesn't see him. <p>Great to see you back and posting again but very sad to see your 1997 version go. I did really enjoy your prior Quest for Lost Glory, so I'm excited to see what you do here. Hopefully Sting gets just as big a role.</p><p> </p><p>

Unfortunately I missed out on the first prediction but I'll be here from now on. And one last thing to say...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

UGH, JARRETT!</p>

<p>A few things. First of all I want to thank everyone who predicted and commented on The Big Bang and the return of the Quest in general. I'm happy to have you all on board and I appreciate the support.</p><p> </p><p>

Secondly, I have decided to let the first prediction contest run through The Great American Bash, which is the next PPV, so the winner will be announced then and prizes will be handed out then as well. Just so everyone knows I gave a point for each correct name in the final four, and the person with the most eliminations in the battle royal was Scott Steiner.</p><p> </p><p>

Thirdly, I have decided to run predictions for each Nitro as well. I wasn't quite sure whether I would do that or just do pay per views, but for now I'll do it for Nitro as well. The first Nitro won't have predictions, however, as it is going up shortly after this post, but after that.</p><p> </p><p>

And that's about it. Nitro is coming up in a bit.</p>

All of them head to the ring with smiles on their faces, and once inside the ring Eric Bischoff introduces the NEW World Champion and hands the mic to Double J. Jarrett says that WCW is heading into a new golden age with himself as the champion and Eric Bischoff at the helm. He says that they are going to do right by WCW, and that they are going to rebuild the company back into the powerhouse it was just a few short years ago. And if someone doesn't like that? Well, tough! Because there's nothing they can do about it, so choke on that, slapnuts! Eric Bischoff takes the mic and says that the three people in the ring right now are his Chosen Ones, and as people can plainly see, they are already covered in gold, proving that they are the present and future of WCW and professional wrestling! Luger and Bagwell both pose with their tag team titles, Jeff Jarrett hoists the WCW World Heavyweight Championship high above his head, and Eric Bischoff looks on like a proud father with a huge grin on his face. That grin quickly fades, however, as a loud wolf howl is heard and the Wolfpac music starts playing throughout the arena... <strong>(B)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/YiAV5xv.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash walks out from the back and the announcers, Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay, are quick to note that Nash won the battle royal last night, but was then screwed by Jarrett and Bischoff, and that Nash should be the champion right now instead of Jarrett. Nash remains at the top of the ramp and says that Jarrett talks a good game when he's got backup, but the fact is that he wasn't even man enough to enter the battle royal last night, just like he wasn't man enough to face Nash face to face but had to attack him from behind. Nash says he wants a shot at that belt (pointing at Jarrett) and he wants it tonight! The crowd cheers, clearly liking that idea, but Bischoff says that Nash is in no position to make demands, and since he's already got a match tonight, a World Title match is out of the question. Bischoff then books Nash to face one half of the WCW Tag Team Champions, Buff Bagwell, later tonight in the main event. Jeff Jarrett gets back on the mic and reminds Nash that he's outnumbered, outgunned, and outmatched, so he might as well give up because he's the past while The Chosen Ones are the present and the future! <strong>(B)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Z1DlA0N.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/yjZhkPT.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Following that huge opening segment we head to the back where "Mean" Gene Okerlund is standing by with Chavo Guerrero Jr., who is complaining about not being part of the Cruiserweight Championship title match last night. Chavo says that he's not just gonna stand by and allow such an injustice to stand! Luger and Bagwell both laugh it up, and after a moment of staring Jarrett down, a furious Flair walks off, now even more outraged than he already was, and The Chosen Ones are heard laughing as we cut back to ringside for our next match. <strong>(C+)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/qc8WHPD.jpg</span>vs.<span>http://i.imgur.com/dP7JCYN.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Back in the ring, Diamond Dallas Page faces a newcomer in Chris Harris and the match is nothing but a complete squash as DDP easily dominates the newcomer and puts him away with the Diamond Cutter without barely breaking a sweat.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Diamond Dallas Page defeated Chris Harris at 2.30 by pinfall with a Diamond Cutter (C-)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Gc4aCsx.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> DDP doesn't get a chance to celebrate his win, however, as Mike Awesome suddenly hits the ring and attacks Page! And to prove that, he's gonna bless everyone in attendance tonight by giving them the privilage of watching "The Chosen One" in action. And just in case Kevin Nash gets any bright ideas...Jarrett stops talking and hands the mic to Bischoff with a smile. Bischoff then informs Nash that he will be suspended indefinitely without pay if he comes anywhere near the ring during Jarrett's match. This match is as even as it can get, with the momentum swinging back and forth throughout. Dustin Rhodes almost hits a running bulldog that could have spelled the end for Lance Storm, but Storm is able to counter at the last minute. A few minutes later, Storm almost picks up the win as he tries to lock in the Canadian Maple Leaf, but Rhodes is able to fight out of it. Rhodes, now back to his feet, naturally takes offense to Douglas' comments, and he grabs a mic of his own and challenges Douglas to a one on one matchup next week on Nitro. Week 1, June, 2001

Live from Mays Arena in Columbia, South Carolina

Attendance: 3.500 (sellout)

This week's edition of WCW Monday Nitro goes live with the owner of WCW, Eric Bischoff, already standing in the ring and he does not look like a happy man after what happened at the end of last week's Nitro. Bischoff gets on the mic and says that Scott Steiner made a huge mistake last week when he not only turned down his offer, but he also put his hands on the boss. Bischoff says that that kind of thing not only will not be tolerated around here, but it will be punished severely! Which is why he has personally banned Scott Steiner from the building tonight and unlike last week with Kevin Nash, he has made damn sure that Steiner can't get inside! Bischoff then proceeds to announce that, also as a result of what happened last week, Scott's brother, Rick, will take on Kevin Nash in tonight's main event and if Nash loses, he also loses his World Title opportunity at the Great American Bash! The crowd doesn't like it one bit, but Bischoff says that that's just too damn bad because he is done playing Mister Nice Guy! This is his company and things are going to run the way he wants them to run! (B+)

Following that huge opening announcement from Eric Bischoff, we cut to the back where Mike Sanders has gathered Sean O'Haire, Chuck Palumbo, Shawn Stasiak and Mark Jindrak around him and he's talking to them about getting the band back together--the band being the Natural Born Thrillers. Mike points out that they are in danger of being left behind if they don't do something to get themselves noticed again. Jindrak and Stasiak seem to be more receptive to the idea than Palumbo and O'Haire, but Sanders tells them to think about it--but keep in mind that things are happening quickly here in WCW and if they don't jump on the train soon, they'll all be left behind at the station. (D+)

Our first match of the night came about last week when Dustin Rhodes challenged "The Franchise" Shane Douglas to a match after Douglas berated Rhodes and called him a loser after he lost a match to Lance Storm.

IJIxeY2.jpg

Speaking of Lance Storm, he comes down to ringside to watch this one up close as Rhodes and Douglas go back and forth in an even matchup. Tony and Mike talk up the importance of this match as it relates to either of these men getting a future United States Championship title shot, so there is a lot on the line in this one and both men fight like it, giving it their all. In the end it is Dustin Rhodes who picks up an important win as he takes advantage of Shane Douglas trading insults with Lance Storm, allowing Rhodes to roll him up from behind and secure the three count on a stunned "Franchise".

Dustin Rhodes defeated Shane Douglas at 11.53 by pinfall with a rollup (C+)

Immediately after the match is over, we cut to the back where another brawl has erupted between The Mamalukes and Chris Kanyon and Bam Bam Bigelow! The brawl is completely out of control and it winds up in the womens locker room where...

YJdjdt3.jpg57s9isb.jpg

Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson, dressed in nothing but towels (for a shameful cheap ratings pop), scream in horror as the four men brawl through the room. The fight continues until, for the second straight week, the brawl is broken up by a slew of referees. But, as Tony Schiavone notes, the war between these two teams is clearly only just beginning. (D+)

zah6nFe.jpgGc4aCsx.jpg

Elsewhere in the back, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair walks up to Mike Awesome and asks if the big man is ready for their match tonight against Diamond Dallas Page and Rey Misterio Jr. Awesome says that he is, and Flair says that Awesome can do whatever he wants to DDP, just so long as he leaves Rey Misterio to "The Nature Boy" because he's going to take that kid to school tonight! ©

aiJ3oYx.jpgijZDMft.jpg

We then cut to outside the building where "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner has arrived and is trying to gain entry into the building, but security is trying to stop him. Steiner is armed with his lead pipe and security is more than a little reluctant to engage him, to say the very least. Steiner cusses out Eric Bischoff and says that one way or another, he's getting into that building tonight! (B-)

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Number One Contenders Match

ueZNjIJ.jpgvs.DeMllKw.jpgvs.yjZhkPT.jpgvs.oqlw3dH.jpg

Chavo Guerrero Jr. gets his opportunity to earn a Cruiserweight Championship title shot just as Eric Bischoff promised him last week, but it is against three other men in a fourway matchup. It is a decent match with all four men getting their moment to shine, but the ending is a bit controversial as...

O0I3vYs.jpg

Cash makes his way toward the ring just as Shane Helms hits the Vertebreaker on Alan Funk! But instead of covering Funk and picking up the win, Helms is distracted by Cash's presence, allowing an opportunistic Chavo Guerrero Jr. to slip in behind Helms and steal the victory out from under him.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Alan Funk, Shane Helms and Shannon Moore at 7.44 by pinfall when Guerrero pinned Funk after Helms was distracted by Cash. Chavo Guerrero Jr. becomes the number one contender to the WCW Cruiserweight Championship (C-)

Having picked up the win, Chavo Guerrero Jr. gets on the mic and calls out Billy Kidman, insisting that he come down to the ring.

TqDQ0Kz.jpgYJdjdt3.jpg

After a few moments, Kidman comes out from the back along with Torrie Wilson, who fortunately (or disappointingly, depending on your point of view) has had time to put some clothes on. Chavo tells Kidman that he's all out of excuses now and that he'll have to put the title on the line against him as per Eric Bischoff's instructions. Kidman says he's got no problem defending HIS title, but Chavo isn't satisfied with that, saying that he doesn't want Kidman's dumb luck to save him again. Chavo wants to make sure that the best man wins at the Great American Bash, and that Kidman won't win on some kind of a fluke, so he wants thier match at the Great American Bash to be a ladder match! Kidman considers it for a moment, then accepts the challenge, saying that he doesn't need to rely on luck to beat Chavo, to which Chavo replies "we'll see about that" as he leaves the ring. (C-)

Z1DlA0N.jpgO0I3vYs.jpgDeMllKw.jpg

We head to the back where "Mean" Gene Okerlund is with Cash and Gene wants an explanation for Cash's actions during the previous match. Cash doesn't get to answer, however, before Shane Helms walks in, demanding an answer to the same question. Cash says that Shane brought it upon himself when he dared to interrupt him last week because no one disrespects Cash and gets away with it--and you can bank on that! Shane says that he's got something Cash can bank on too; that he'll beat his ass at the Great American Bash--assuming Cash is actually man enough to face him! Cash just scoffs and walks off, simply saying "unlikely", and we cut away as Shane looks frustrated. (D-)

NKRpVmw.jpgvs.mF3JVeI.jpg

Fit Finlay goes one on one with Lash Leroux next, and aside from a few offensive flurries by Leroux, it is the veteran Finlay who dominates this one, imposing his will and his physical style on the youngster before puttng him away with a Tombstone Piledriver for a strong victory.

Fit Finlay defeated Lash Leroux at 5.44 by pinfall with a Tombstone Piledriver ©

In a shocking turn of events, our next interview is NOT, in fact, done by "Mean" Gene Okerlund, but rather by young Jeremy Borash, who is standing by with "The Dog Faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner. JB asks Rick about his match later tonight against Kevin Nash in light of the possible alliance that seemed to be brewing last week. Rick says that there is no alliance, that his only allegiance is to his brother, and that The Steiner Brothers are still the most dominant force in professional wrestling! Rick then starts barking as he walks off and we cut elsewhere. ©

Z1DlA0N.jpgqc8WHPD.jpg

Ah! And here is "Mean" Gene Okerlund, standing by with Diamond Dallas Page, who he asks about the tag team match later tonight where Page is teaming up with Rey Misterio Jr. to take on Ric Flair and Mike Awesome. Page says that he's thrilled to get Mike Awesome in the ring because then at least he won't have to watch his back for an ambush, which seems to be Mike Awesome's style. Page then looks straight at the camera and says, Flair, Mike Awesome...tonight you'll both feel the BANG!!! ©

Six man tag team action is next but this is really a squash match more than anything else and the only reason it goes as long as it does is because "The Cat" insists on spending the opening moments of this match trying to teach the Jung Dragons some dance moves. When he finally gives up on that and the match actually gets going, it's an easy win for "The Cat" and the Jung Dragons, who picks up the win when "The Cat" hits the Feliner on Chris Harris.

"The Cat" and The Jung Dragons defeated Chris Harris, James Storm and Johnny Swinger at 6.23 by pinfall when "The Cat" pinned Harris following a Feliner (D+)

aiJ3oYx.jpg

As "The Cat" and Miss Jones dance with the Jung Dragons in celebration of their victory, we cut back outside the building where a couple of police cars have arrived and several officers are trying to deal with a clearly agitated "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner. The officers inform Steiner that he is trespassing and that they have to take him in. For a moment it looks like Steiner might actually go on the attack, but he finally allows them to put the handcuffs on him. As the officers lead Steiner to one of the squad cars, Steiner is yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs about how Bischoff is gonna pay for this! (B)

sSiM1MW.jpg9umPviH.jpgepiwJ9r.jpgtjPJopW.jpg

From there we cut directly to Eric Bischoff's office where Eric and the rest of The Chosen Ones are watching the Steiner incident on a monitor. Bischoff seems pleased that Steiner is out of the picture for tonight, but he's less than thrilled about Steiner's vow of revenge. Jeff Jarrett says they'll have to deal with Steiner before the Great American Bash, to which both Luger and Bagwell agree. Bischoff agrees as well, saying that Steiner is like a rabid dog--he'll charge at anyone or anything, they just need to shift his focus away from them and aim him at someone else. As Bischoff smiles and Tony and Mike both speculate just what evil plan Eric Bischoff has up his sleeve now, we cut back to ringside for a major tag team matchup. (B)

zah6nFe.jpgGc4aCsx.jpgvs.qc8WHPD.jpgiv846pY.jpg

Big time tag team match here as the United States Champion, Rey Misterio Jr., teams up with Diamond Dallas Page to face "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Mike Awesome. Page and Rey starts off strong, but the cheating ways of "Th Nature Boy" means that Flair and Awesome are able to isolate Rey from DDP and spend the next several minutes in complete control of the match as they wear Rey down. But Rey is nothing if not resilient, and he more than proves that here as he is able to take a lot of punishment and still eventually make the hot tag to DDP! Page is in and he is cleaning house, delivering a big time discus clothesline to both men! Page turns his attention to Mike Awesome, but that allows Flair to come up from behind with a chop block. Flair whips Page into the ropes, where Rey makes a blind tag, and Mike Awesome basically tackles DDP to the ground with brute force. Rey hits a springboard dropkick on Awesome, then unloads on Flair with some rapid kicks to the back of Flair's leg. The referee loses complete control of the match as all four men brawl in the ring, which means he doesn't see Ric Flair hit a low blow on Rey just before he rolls up him and steals the victory while DDP and Mike Awesome are still going at it outside the ring.

Ric Flair and Mike Awesome defeated Rey Misterio Jr. and Diamond Dallas Page at 15.21 by pinfall when Flair pinned Misterio following a low blow (C+)

Ric Flair has stolen the win for his team by hook or crook but he's not done quite yet as he looks to apply the Figure Four Leglock on Rey Misterio Jr. as the announcers bring up the hate that Flair has had for Misterio ever since Rey eliminated him from the World Title battle royal at The Big Bang. However, before Flair can apply the Figure Four...

Konnan runs down the ramp and slides into the ring to chase Flair off before, saving his friend from suffering further damage here! ©

YiAV5xv.jpg

Following a quick visit to the announce table where Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay inform us that the main event is coming up next, the Wolfpac music hits to bring out "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash! Once in the ring, Nash cuts a promo before the match, kicking things off by announcing that "Big Sexy is in da house!" Nash says that it doesn't matter what Bischoff and Jarrett throws at him, he'll make it to the Great American Bash and he'll beat Jarrett and win back his title. Nash then speaks directly to Eric Bischoff, telling him that he may have saved WCW, but did he really do that just so he could back the wrong horse? Nash says that he's the true World Champion and after the Great American Bash he'll have the gold to prove it! (B-)

YiAV5xv.jpgvs.gBHsAwo.jpg

What is surprising about this match probably isn't that we see interference during it, but rather that we get about five whole minutes worth of one on one action before...

epiwJ9r.jpgtjPJopW.jpg

The WCW Tag Team Champions, Totally Buff, make their way down to ringside. The match continues in the ring, but Luger and Bagwell are constantly looking to get involved, and frequently do so. Their efforts are complicated by the fact that Rick Steiner doesn't appear to want their help, even going so far as to punch Buff Bagwell right off the ring apron with a powerful right hand. "The Total Package" Lex Luger is then suddenly in the ring and he tries to nail Nash with a running forearm, but Nash sidesteps and sends Luger flying over the top rope! With both Luger and Bagwell down, Nash is able to put Steiner away with a Jackknife Powerbomb to keep his World Title shot at the Great American Bash!

Kevin Nash defeated Rick Steiner at 10.46 by pinfall with a Jackknife Powerbomb (C+)

9umPviH.jpg

Luger and Bagwell go back on the attack after the match and, of course, "The Chosen One", the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett, is right there with them, making it a three on one attack. The crowd boos and Tony and Mike both complain that these tactics by Eric Bischoff and company are getting ridiculous.

qc8WHPD.jpg

Diamond Dallas Page suddenly hits the ring and he tries to come to Nash's aid, but Nash is already down so Page faces the same three on one odds that Nash did and Page eventually falls victim to a Buff Blockbuster from Buff Bagwell, aided by Lex Luger. With Page down and no more help coming, Jeff Jarrett uses the opportunity to hit The Stroke on the man he will be facing at the Great American Bash, and with a shot of the all-too-familiar sight of The Chosen Ones standing tall in the ring, Monday Nitro comes to a close. As I'm sure you have noticed I have decided to hold off on the weekly predictions. I'm not entirely sure yet, but I'll likely start the weekly predictions after the Great American Bash, which is coming up after just one more Nitro by the way. :)

Bischoff says he has a few announcements to make here tonight, and even though he hates to be a downer to kick off the show, the first announcement he's going to make is that as a result of his completely unacceptable, out of control behavior last week, Scott Steiner will not be appearing on Nitro tonight--in fact, he won't be appearing on any edition of Monday Nitro in the near future because he has been suspended indefinitely. Even though "Big Poppa Pump" isn't exactly a crowd favorite, they still boo the prospect of no Steiner quite unanimously. Bischoff proceeds to make his second announcement, which is that the reigning WCW World Heavyweight Champion, "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett, has been given the night off to rest up and prepare for Sunday night's Great American Bash pay per view event. The crowd boos again, not liking any of what Bischoff has to say here, and Bischoff then makes his third and final announcement, which is tonight's main event; The Insiders in a two on three handicap match against Mike Sanders, Shawn Stasiak and Mark Jindrak. The crowd boos yet again as Bischoff is obviously stacking the deck in the World Champion's favor here just six days before the Great American Bash, but a grinning Eric Bischoff says that even without the World Champion here, tonight is going to be a great night--he can just feel it. <strong>(B)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="Z1DlA0N.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Z1DlA0N.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="yjZhkPT.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yjZhkPT.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="FztIvqD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FztIvqD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Following that huge opening segment, we cut backstage where "Mean" Gene Okerlund is standing by with Chavo Guerrero Jr. and the Disco Inferno. A clearly frustrated Rey checks on Konnan while the announcers speculate whether Flair has gotten into the head of the US Champion here just six days before their title match at the Great American Bash. <strong>(C+)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="sSiM1MW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sSiM1MW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> We cut to the parking lot area outside the building where Eric Bischoff is staring in disbelief at his complete trashed limo. Tony and Mike talk about how Bischoff is putting Kevin Nash in a handicap match here just six days before the Great American Bash, while the World Champion, Jeff Jarrett, has the night off. Tony calls it blatant favoritism, and Mike adds that Bischoff and Jarrett would love nothing more than for the former Thrillers to weaken, or even injure, "Big Sexy" here tonight. The former Thrillers take full advantage of their strength in numbers and for a bit it looks like Bischoff and Jarrett will get exactly what they wanted. But Nash and DDP are two of the biggest stars in the business for a reason, and The Insiders eventually turn the tables on their opponents. The match ends when Nash hits the Jackknife Powerbomb on Shawn Stasiak, covering and pinning him while DDP stands guard to make sure that neither Sanders or Jindrak can break up the pin.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>The Insiders defeated Shawn Stasiak, Mike Sanders, and Mark Jindrak at 10.38 by pinfall when Nash pinned Stasiak following a Jackknife Powerbomb (B-)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Nash and DDP stand tall in the ring as another loss has been added to former members of the Natural Born Thrillers. Jarrett then stands tall in the ring, holding his WCW World Heavyweight Championship title belt high in the air above the body of the man who will challenge for the title this Sunday night at the Great American Bash! <p>Great go-home show, it really helped put the Bash together. Time for predictions!</p><p> </p><p>

Jeff Jarrett - <em>The money right now is in seeing the Chosen Ones stay on top, while the faces chase the title. That's WCW's bread and butter, and we continue that time honored tradition here.</em></p><p>

Rey Misterio - <em>I can't see Flair walking around with the US title, especially given most of your titles are held by heels. Heels need a belt to fend after, too.</em></p><p>

DDP - <em>Awesome will make a great step up for Page to go after Jarrett next month.</em></p><p>

Totally Buff - <em>As I said earlier, the Chosen Ones are keeping the belts for now.</em></p><p>

Billy Kidman - <em>While the previous 2001 Quest did a great job with Chavo as the cruiser champ, I don't think you'll be retreading that particular scenario.</em></p><p>

Shane Douglas - <em>We already saw Rey against Storm, so Douglas takes this one to get the next shot.</em></p><p>

Kanyon and Bigelow - <em>These two have a much bigger upside, I can't really see the Mamalukes doing it unless you want to set them after the champs. But I don't know how that would go... you'd better not be looking for good grades for sure</em> <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Cash - <em>I'm digging the Cash push, he's another guy who, due to his place at the bottom of the card, tends to get lost in the shuffle in a lot of 2001 diaries. Much like Jarrett, Luger, and Bagwell, I'm really glad to see him get a solid place here.</em></p><p> </p><p>
