Good show and it's a bummer that Booker and Jarrett have bad chemistry. I wonder if that's going to alter your plans on where to go with the two of them. I was sad that Booker didn't walk away with the gold. I'm just not a huge Jarrett fan and think Booker would be much better to build the resurgence of WCW around. I'm still waiting for Sting to show back up, but Macho was a great one to put in his place. I wouldn't entirely be sad to see Macho have one last world title run (and a good run, rather than his 24 hour reigns) and dethrone Jarrett.

I like the weekly predictions but if it's too much to keep track of, I'd be fine with just PPV predictions.

It looks like we are getting some faces lined up to push after Jarrett, and that's great. Can't wait to see Macho get his shot! He really was quite the surprise, and while I'm not really thinking he's going to take the title home from Jarrett, it'll definitely be an interesting feud when it happens.

Another surprise though was Storm taking the US title. I'm not saying I don't like it, just that I didn't think it would be jumping off of Rey so quickly. Kanyon and Stacy are a solid pairing, I have continued finding something for Stacy to do in my game other than be a pre-show hype segment (she has thrown a lot of t-shirts to a lot of crowds :p), so I applaud you and TFC for finding a place for her.

Okay, so I have decided to continue with the weekly predictions for Nitro, though the next Nitro will go up without predictions just to get this thing moving at a decent pace again. The prediction prize has yet to be sent out as well, but that too is coming up.

And thanks for the comments. It looks like Bash at the Beach went down pretty well, which I'm glad to hear.

As for Macho, he was one of the guys I didn't get to do anything with in my last Quest because he ended up dying a few days or weeks into the game, so I really wanted to bring him in for this one and give him a proper final run. I always thought his amazing career deserved a more fitting conclusion than for him to just kind of fade out the way he did in real life.

And finally, the next Nitro will be posted either later today or tomorrow.

Week 2, July, 2001

Live from Hamilton Field House in Edmond, Oklahoma

Attendance: 3.000 (sellout)

Monday Nitro kicks off with "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page and "Macho Man" Randy Savage coming down to the ring to nothing but cheers from the crowd. The returning "Macho Man" Randy Savage is the first to speak and he talks about his return last night at Bash at the Beach and how about great it feels to be back in WCW, ooohhh yeah! But Savage also says that they aren't just out here to soak up the cheers from the fans--they've got a few points to make. Savage hands the mic to DDP who doesn't waste any time in calling out Eric Bischoff because it's high time that DDP is next in line for a shot at the World Title! Page then hands the mic off to "Big Sexy", and Nash also calls out Bischoff, saying that it just so happens that he's got some business with the boss as well. The trio then wait in the ring for Bischoff to make his appeance...

sSiM1MW.jpg

Which he eventually does. Bischoff says that as far as DDP is concerned, he'll consider his words IF he is able to survive a No Holds Barred match later tonight against Mike Awesome! Nash then interrupts the boss and says that since Bischoff is handing out title shots, how about him and Mach get a shot at the Tag Team Titles? But before Bischoff can answer...(B+)

O6ChwMw.jpg

...out from the back comes Booker T! Booker looks none too happy after he was screwed out of the World Title last night and he makes it clear to Bischoff that he's not done with that chump Jeff Jarrett. Bischoff says that he begs to differ because Booker had his shot, he blew it, and now he goes back to the end of the line. But since Booker is so eager for a fight, he can get to the ring right now and Bischoff will provide him with one! The question regarding the Tag Team Title that shot Nash wanted remains up in the air, but we have a huge main event set up for tonight and Booker T is in action next to kick off Monday Nitro! (B+)

O6ChwMw.jpgvs.mF3JVeI.jpg

The person Eric Bischoff calls out from the back to face Booker T is the veteran brawler Fit Finlay, and as Tony and Mike are both quick to point out, Finlay is not someone that you want to take lightly. This is a good opening match with some intense, hard-hitting action, and Finlay's physical, punishing style serves him well as he holds his own in this one. Still, the end result is a nice bounce back victory for Booker T after getting robbed last night as he hits the Bookend and secures the pinfall on his veteran opponent.

Booker T defeated Fit Finlay at 9.21 by pinfall with a Bookend (B-)

sSiM1MW.jpgO9mmnFa.jpg

Eric Bischoff is seen walking through the backstage area when he is approached by "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. Duggan says that he couldn't help but notice that the Jung Dragons weren't booked last night and they aren't booked tonight either. Bischoff looks like he couldn't care less, but Duggan says that he really believes they could be a great tag team, if only they were given an opportunity and some good ol' fashioned red, white, and blue guidance. Now annoyed, Bischoff says that he'll give them an opportunity--an opportunity to get their asses kicked next week on Nitro when they face the Steiner Brothers! Bischoff then walks off and Duggan looks a bit uneasy at that booking. (C+)

Z1DlA0N.jpgTqDQ0Kz.jpgYJdjdt3.jpg

Elsewhere in the back, "Mean" Gene Okerlund with the WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Billy Kidman, and Torrie Wilson, and Gene asks Kidman about his successful title defense last night at Bash at the Beach. Kidman says that he did exactly what he said he was going to try to do; he weathered the storm early on, saw his opportunity, and took advantage.

3WOT8i0.jpg

That is when Disco Inferno walks in and Disco points out that Kidman may have beaten Chavo Guerrero last night, but he didn't beat him. He says that Kidman knows he can't boogie with the Disco Inferno, and if Kidman has the guts to put the title on the line against him, he'll take that title from him. Kidman doesn't back down at all, agreeing to the fight and we have a Cruiserweight Title match set for New Blood Rising, or so Tony Schiavone speculates. (C-)

apBZcci.jpgvs.yjZhkPT.jpg

Speaking of cruiserweights, our second match of the night sees Chavo Guerrero Jr. taking on Jamie Knoble in one on one action. Chavo looks to be in a foul mood after failing to capture the Cruiserweight Title last night Bash at the Beach and he looks determined to take it out on Knoble here tonight. But Knoble uses Chavo's frustrations against him and nearly picks up a surprise win with a roll-up, but in the end Chavo recovers and hits the Gory Bomb to secure the three count and the win.

O0I3vYs.jpgxwUJi96.jpg

Following the match we cut to the back where Cash is in his locker room with Big Smooth, and Cash is reveling in the beating that Smooth gave Shane Helms last night at Bash at the Beach...

Z1DlA0N.jpg

When "Mean" Gene Okerlund walks in with a camera in tow to confront him. Gene asks how Cash can condone and even applaud that kind of behavior, but Cash just laughts at Gene, asking him what's not to applaud?

DeMllKw.jpg

But when Shane Helms suddenly bursts through the door, Big Smooth has to earn his pay as he gets between Helms and Cash and brawls with Helms all around the locker room until security arrives to separate them. As security drags Helms out of the locker room, Cash is openly laughing at and mocking Helms as Tony notes that the issues between "Sugar" Shane and Cash are far from over. (D)

5crDQaK.jpgRBBYBSm.jpg

We cut elsewhere in the back, more specifically to a darkened room where Crowbar and Daffney are lurking. Crowbar again talks about "his" coming and about how "his" arrival is going to change everything, and about how Dustin Rhodes is just the beginning, the first of many to fall. Crowbar finishes the promo by stating that he is coming...and it is already too late to run. (D+)

v70H8HK.jpgvs.dP7JCYN.jpg

Hugh Morrus has had a hard time building momentum lately, but Tony and Mike spend most of this match talking about how there is a rumor going around right now that Hugh Morrus is looking to re-establish himself here in WCW by forming a tag team, though there is no word yet on who his partner might be. As for the match, this is little more than a squash as Morrus dominates and hits his No Laughing Matter moonsault to pick up an easy win.

Hugh Morrus defeated Chris Harris at 3.15 by pinfall with a No Laughing Matter (C-)

O9mmnFa.jpg9KBcilD.jpgDQd8EOs.jpg

After the match we cut to the back where "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan is with the Jung Dragons and he informs them about their match next week against the Steiner Brothers. The Dragons are less than thrilled about facing the Steiners, and even less thrilled about Duggan getting involved in their business with Kaz telling Duggan that they don't want or need his help. The Dragons' words fall on deaf ears, however, as Duggan responds by telling them that they can do it and that he believes in them. Duggan then asks if the Dragons want to go out get some good ol' american pie as we cut elsewhere. (D)

IJIxeY2.jpg

More specifically, we cut to the ring where the music of the new United States Champion hits and Lance Storm makes his way out from the back and heads to the ring while Tony and Mike discuss how Storm took advantage of the injury he himself had inflicted upon Rey Misterio Jr. in the weeks leading up to Bash at the Beach to ultimately come away with the United States Championship last night. Once in the ring, Storm proclaims himself once again the Canadian Heavyweight Champion and asks that everyone rise to their feet for the playing of the Canadian national anthem. Surprisingly, the anthem plays through to its conclusion, which isn't particularly popular with the fans, and Storm then says that he's not going to wait for Rey Misterio Jr. to get a rematch "down the road"--if Rey wants his rematch then let him come down here and claim it! Tony and Mike both note that Storm knows well that Rey is injured and that he is not even here tonight...

v4ps6Ig.jpg

...but Konnan is and he makes his way out from the back and stands at the top of the entrance ramp. Konnan says that he's not gonna stand by listen to Storm mocking his friend. And with that Konnan drops the mic, then charges the ring, but Storm bails out and escapes up the ramp, suddenly not so cocky any longer, as Tony Schiavone notes. Mike Tenay adds that Konnan seems to have set his sights on Lance Storm and that he's not likely to back down until he gets Storm in the ring again. ©

The WCW Tag Team Champions make their way out from the back and as they head toward the ring, Tony informs us that Totally Buff are scheduled to defend their WCW Tag Team Titles right here tonight on Nitro against The Mamalukes. But Luger and Bagwell apparently want to cut a promo first as they call for a mic, and Buff says that what happened last night was nothing more than a fluke and they'll prove it tonight by getting the greatest tag team in the business today back on track with a win. Luger says that everyone in the building want to either be them or be with them, and when they look in the mirror it's not hard to see why. Buff then calls their challengers down so they can take care of business and get to the partying! (C+)

WCW Tag Team Championships

epiwJ9r.jpgtjPJopW.jpgvs.wZXuh2C.jpgwsZRuyw.jpg

The Mamalukes have been on quite a roll lately and they get rewarded for it tonight by getting a shot at the WCW Tag Team Championships. Mike Tenay notes that this is the biggest match the Mamalukes have had in a while, no disrespect to any of the other teams they have faced, and that if they reclaim the titles tonight it would be quite the blow to the Chosen Ones. Unfortunately for the Mamalukes, that doesn't happen here tonight. Vito and The Bull put up a good fight, giving the Champions a run for their money, but in the end the Champions retain as Buff Bagwell hits the Buff Blockbuster on Big Vito and secures the pinfall victory.

Totally Buff defeated The Mamalukes at 9.58 by pinfall when Buff Bagwell pinned Big Vito following a Buff Blockbuster. Totally Buff retain the WCW Tag Team Championships ©

YiAV5xv.jpgTTtujDA.jpg

Totally Buff have successfully retained the Tag Team Titles but instead of their music it's the Wolfpac music that hits, bringing "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash and "Macho Man" Randy Savage out from the back. Luger and Bagwell grab their titles, circle around the ring, and leave as Nash and Savage enter the ring. Nash gets on the mic and says that since they couldn't get an answer earlier, they decided to come out here and make the challenge again; Totally Buff vs. "Big Sexy" and the "Macho Man" at New Blood Rising for the WCW Tag Team Titles! Savage gets on the mic next and says that Luger and Bagwell are supposed to be the champions, but all he sees when he looks at them are a couple of cowards running away from a fight! Totally Buff disappear into the back, leaving Nash and Savage standing in the ring, their challenge once again unanswered. (A)

SvNacxY.jpgKZ3THeU.jpg7bFbOrf.jpg

Mike Sanders, Shawn Stasiak and Mark Jindrak come down to the ring and Sanders does the talking as he brings up what happened last night when Palumbo and O'Haire walked out on their match against the Steiner Brothers, causing Jindrak and Stasiak to lose the match. Sanders then calls out O'Haire and Palumbo, saying that he wants to do this face to face...

rxMZSbm.jpg1S9VfKR.jpg

O'Haire and Palumbo make their way out from the back and join the rest of the former Thrillers in the ring. Sanders says that he's had enough of their indecision, so he's got a challenge for them. O'Haire and Palumbo vs. Stasiak and Jindrak at New Blood Rising and WHEN Jindrak and Stasiak win, O'Haire and Palumbo have to join them in reuniting the Thrillers. O'Haire and Palumbo do not get to reply, however, as...

sSiM1MW.jpg

Eric Bischoff surprisingly comes out from the back and he does not look like a happy man after what happened last night at Bash at the Beach. Bischoff enters the ring, gets on the mic, and says that the two teams will indeed face off at New Blood Rising, but the stakes are going to be a lot higher; the winners of the match get to remain on the roster, while the losers are suspended indefinitely! With that bombshell dropped, Bischoff tells them to get the hell out of his ring because he's got business to take care of. (C-)

As the former Thrillers leave the ring and head backstage, Eric Bischoff remains in the ring and he calls out...Scott Steiner?!? Bischoff asks for Scott to please come down to the ring because he wants to settle things between them once and for all.

aiJ3oYx.jpggBHsAwo.jpgijZDMft.jpg

Both Steiners come out from the back, along with Midajah, and Bischoff looks more than a little uneasy with no backup around him. Bischoff tells Scott that he doesn't want to fight him anymore, so he's here to make him an offer. Bischoff says that after New Blood Rising, Fall Brawl is coming up and with it, War Games. Bischoff says that a World Title shot will be on the line at War Games, and in an effort to make peace between them, he's willing to offer Scott a chance to become captain of one of the teams in the War Games match. Scott looks like he might just beat the hell out of Bischoff, but he instead accepts the offer, with Bischoff saying that if Scott can beat his opponent at New Blood Rising, he'll captain one of the War Games teams and get to pick his own team. Scott wants to know who he's facing, and Bischoff says that he'll get back to him on that. But Scott then says that it doesn't matter who he faces because he's "The Genetic Freak", he's got the largest arms in the world, and whoever is stupid enough to step into the ring with him at New Blood Rising will be ripped in half! Tony Schiavone brings the segment to its conclusion by noting that it appears that Eric Bischoff has successfully established a truce between himself and "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner. (A)

t5bgsE2.jpgw/GQpaxEc.jpgvs.DQQkt80.jpg

Prior to this one Tony reminds everyone that our main event is still to come as Diamond Dallas Page will face off against Mike Awesome in a No Holds Barred match, but for now "The Cat" is in action against Hell Raiser, who returns to action tonight. Tony notes that "The Cat" had a bad night last night at Bash at the Beach and, indeed, "The Cat" is in no mood to joke around tonight as he takes the fight straight to Hell Raiser, picking up the win just north of the five minute mark after hitting the Feliner.

"The Cat" defeated Hell Raiser at 5.03 by pinfall with the Feliner (D)

Having taken care of business in his match, "The Cat" gets on the mic and he calls out Chris Kanyon, telling Kanyon to come down to the ring and get the whuppin' he earned himself last night! After a bit of a wait...

57s9isb.jpg

Stacy Keibler comes out from the back and she informs "The Cat" that, unfortunately, her client is unavailable tonight, but if he has a message for him she'd be happy to pass it along. This is, of course, just a ruse meant to distract "The Cat" while...

waG19mm.jpg

Kanyon sneaks into the ring behind him and attacks! For the second night in a row, Kanyon ambushes "The Cat" and finishes the assault off with a Kanyon Kutter! Kanyon then leaves the ring and joins Stacy at the top of the ramp, who raises Kanyon's arm in the air in triumph while Miss Jones attends to "The Cat" in the ring. (D+)

9umPviH.jpg

It is almost main event time but before we get to that we get a "surprise" appearance by the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett, who makes his way to the ring, making his first apperance tonight just prior to the main event. Jarrett says that so far he has beaten everyone who has stepped up to face him and if Diamond Dallas Page survives Mike Awesome tonight and actually gets a shot at New Blood Rising then he'll beat him too! Jarrett says that Page may have gotten lucky last night using the surprise factor of Randy Savage to pick up a win, but it's gonna take a hell of a lot more than cheap tricks and surprises to beat "The Chosen One", which Page will find out at New Blood Rising IF he even gets there. But as far as Jarrett is concerned, he hopes that Mike Awesome puts an end to DDP's career once and for all in a few short minutes because, quite frankly, it's long overdue! The World Champion then drops the mic and heads to the back as Tony informs us that our main event of the evening is coming up next right here on Monday Nitro! (B+)

No Holds Barred Match

qc8WHPD.jpgvs.Gc4aCsx.jpg

The issues between these two men have been going on for quite a while now and tonight they clash in a No Holds Barred match that could potentially settle things between them once and for all. As you'd expect from a No Holds Barred match, this is a hard-hitting, grueling matchup with plenty of action both in and out of the ring, and with more than a few different weapons being used by both men. Mike Awesome takes control of the match when the fight spills out of the ring, taking full advantage of his past experience with hardcore wrestling to punish DDP in brutally creative ways, including repeatedly hitting DDP across the back with a steel chair and dropping Page chest-first across the guard rail. Page is able to turn things around, however, by reversing Mike Awesome's attempt to whip him back-first into the guard rail, and insted it is Awesome who is whipped into the guard rail. Page hits a vertical suplex on Awesome outside the ring, and then it is Awesome's turn to feel the impact of a steel chair being smashed repeatedly across his back. After a long, grueling match, the finish comes when DDP is able to fight his way out of an Awesome Bomb and he catches Awesome with a Diamond Cutter out of nowhere for the 1...2...3!!!

Diamond Dallas Page defeated Mike Awesome at 17.03 by pinfall with a Diamond Cutter (B)

And with a shot of DDP standing tall in the ring, or as tall as he can after everything he just went through, and with Tony and Mike both expressing their surprise at the lack of interference from the Chosen Ones during the main event, Monday Nitro comes to an end.

Unless Angry Alan makes an appearance....in which case, watch out K-Dogg :D

Storm keeps applying pressure until finally more referees arrive in the ring and they are able to get Storm off Konnan, but has the damage been done once again by Storm? <strong>(C-)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="9umPviH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9umPviH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="epiwJ9r.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/epiwJ9r.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tjPJopW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tjPJopW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="sSiM1MW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sSiM1MW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> It is almost main event time but first we cut backstage to Eric Bischoff's office where Bischoff and The Chosen Ones are gathered to watch the upcoming main event. Bischoff is all smiles as he says that those guys are going to beat the you-know-what out of each other and whatever is left of whoever wins the match will be easy pickings for Jarrett at New Blood Rising. Jarrett doesn't seem quite as confident after his run-in with Savage and the Insiders earlier, but Bischoff tells him to just kick back, relax, and enjoy the show because he's got everything under control. <strong>(B-)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW World Heavyweight Championship Number One Contender's Match</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="O6ChwMw.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/O6ChwMw.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />vs.<img alt="qc8WHPD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/qc8WHPD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />vs.<img alt="zah6nFe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zah6nFe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />vs.<img alt="YiAV5xv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YiAV5xv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> All alliances and friendships are put on hold in this one as it is every man for himself right from the get-go. DDP and Ric Flair square off on one side of the ring and Kevin Nash and Booker T go at it on the other side. This is a long, good match that sees all four men put it all on the line for a shot at the World Title, and all four men come close at least once with a near-fall during one. The fight eventually spills out of the ring as well, where especially "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash uses the surroundings to his advantage, utilizing his strength to ensure maximum damage is done when he throws "The Nature Boy" back-first into the guard rail while DDP and Booker T go back and forth in the ring. The finish to this one finally comes around when Nash hits the Jackknife Powerbomb on Ric Flair and goes for the cover, but it is broken up by Booker T. Booker then catches Nash with a quick kick to the midsection and...AXE KICK!!! Booker gets back to his feet spin-a-roonie style, but DDP is there to catch him with a...DIAMOND CUTTER!--NOO!! Booker is able to push DDP off at the last moment. Page hits the ropes and Booker kicks him in the midsection and goes for another Axe Kick....but Page steps out of the way! Booker is off-balance for a moment and Page capitalizes by rolling Booker up from behind and...1...2...3!!!! Booker kicks out a split second too late and DDP is the NEW number one contender!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Diamond Dallas Page defeated Booker T, Kevin Nash and Ric Flair at 18.34 by pinfall when DDP pinned Booker T with a quick roll-up. DDP earns a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship (B)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Booker T's eyes go wide as he cannot believe the chance to face Jeff Jarrett again for the World Title just slipped through his hands. Kevin Nash is back to his feet as well and the disappointment is clear on his face, while a furious Ric Flair makes his way back up the ramp. Nash and Page stare at each other for a long moment, but then Nash grabs DDP's arm and raises it high in the air and the Insiders stand tall at the end of this week's Monday Nitro!</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Show Rating: B</strong></p><p><strong> TV Rating: 0.99</strong></p><p><strong> Show increased popularity in 10 regions</strong></p>
