Question about character picture dimensions

Recommended Posts

I am making a mod with lots of characters photographs. The problem I have is that while I'm happy with the height of each picture (because I cropped it to be this particular height), I need to make the width of the picture a certain ratio of the height for it to work with the default pic height/width ratio of WMMA (to prevent pics from looking bloated/skinny. I have been doing this individually for each pic, but it's very time consuming.

Is there a program you would recommend for doing this to large batches of pictures, where the program makes the height/width ratio a uniform amount automatically for say a thousand pics - to save doing it for each pic individually via Photoshop (maybe Photoshop can do this - I don't know)?

Hope you guys understand what I mean and can offer some advice.

<p>Are you using .gifs with a transparent background or full gifs/jpegs? If all your picture heights are at 610 pixels then it's just a case of "recording" yourself changing the Canvas Size on one image to 440 pixels in width to create a script in Photoshop. </p><p>

There are a bunch of tutorials on the interwebs/YouTube that can show you step-by-step how to do it.</p><p> </p><p>

If you're still having trouble i'll see if I can find a good tutorial for you or write up a quick one myself some time this week.</p>

theres a free to use program called 'Gimp' that i'd recommend and as said above, use youtube tutorials to help you improve using it <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I think my pics probably vary wildly in terms of pixel height as they are just cropped from real photographs (jpegs) so that the character's full body from toes to head is in the picture. Noobish I know but I've just been using the cropped pic's height in cm to work out the ratio needed for the width. Is there some way I could make all these pics 610 pixels tall in a batch after I've done the manual (toe to head) cropping - and then trying this script thing for the 440 pixel width?</p>

Any ideas about the question I asked a second ago (above) too?</p>

If you have images that have gaps then Photoshop will likely fill them in with white columns either side of the character though.</p>

I don't mind if there are occasional gaps at either side as the backgrounds are completely random and all the pics have been centred on the character.</p><p> You've just saved me about 60 hours:D (although I dread to think the hours I've already wasted doing it image by image, duh)</p>
