WCW Monday Nitro - Episode 122

Monday Week 3, January 1998 - The SuperDome; New Orleans, Louisiana

[Monday Nitro opens to a replay of “Last week” that shows the nWo surround DDP and Bret Hart in the ring at the conclusion of Nitro. We hear crow noises and see the black harnesses fall from the ceiling, see the nWo rush the ring, see Bret and Page with their harnesses on, see Sting at the top of the building and watch as DDP and Hart ascend to the heavens.

Nitro then cuts immediately inside the Superdome in New Orleans as the nWo music is heard throughout the arena. Eric Bischoff, Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall come out and they look pissed off. They get into the ring and Bischoff begins to speak but, Hogan takes the mic out of his hands.

Hogan says that the games have to end. He is sick and tired of Sting and now Page and Bret Hart playing their little parlor tricks with the nWo. The games must end. For over a year this freak in black and white face paint has stalked the nWo and Hollywood and every single time the chance has come to make him pay, the nWo has failed. They have failed the nWo-ites and they have failed Hollywood. That ends now.

In six days at Souled Out, Hollywood, Big Sexy and Scott Hall will take apart the three monkeys never to be heard from again but, tonight, there will be a teaser of whats to come in Cincinnati on Sunday. Because tonight, if they have the guts, Bret Hart…DDP…Hollywood and Big Sexy wants your ass.

“Whats it gonna be, boys? And whatcha gonna do when we smack your asses down, nWo style?”

Nash, Hall and Bischoff look surprised as Hogan, fuming, leaves the ring. They shrug and follow him. ]

[We go to Tony, Mike & Larry who are all buzzed about the possible main event tonight. They then pivot to the ongoing feud between Raven’s Flock and Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, and Dean Malenko. We are told that this Sunday at Souled out there will be two matches featuring this feud: Chris Jericho vs Raven in a match contested under Ravens Rules and Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko will unite to take on Richards & Saturn. That’s this Sunday but, first we get the Crippler in action against a member of the Flock, Kidman. Let’s go to the ring with our opening contest LIVE on WCW Monday Nitro. ]

Grade: 63

============================

Match #1: Kidman vs Chris Benoit

Kidman tries to fight off the ruthless aggression by Benoit but, he is no match for the crippler and this looks to be quick work until Lodi gets on the apron and distracts Benoit. This brings out Malenko and Jericho as the Flock jumps over the barricade and they brawl at ringside. Back inside the ring, Kidman has nailed Benoit from behind with a chair and goes for the Seven Year Itch from the top rope. Benoit moves out of the way and drops Kidman with 3 German suplexes right on his head and then locks in the cross face. Kidman has no choice but to tap out.

Winner: Chris Benoit

Following the match, the Flock retreat with Raven pulling his guys away emotionless. This war will conclude in six days at Snicker’s Souled Out.

[Nitro returns to Mean Gene at the Nitro set. He is standing with Diamond Dallas Page and Bret “the Hitman” Hart. Gene informs us that the two have heard Hogan’s challenge for tonight and they have an answer. Both men look at each other, put up diamond symbols and shout “FEEL THE BANG!!” in an emphatic yes. They walk away with their arms around each other as our main event tonight is set.]

Match #2: WCW Cruiserweight Champion Rey Mysterio Jr vs Psychosis – Non Title

We are told that this Sunday, Guido, will challenge Rey Mysterio Jr for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

Psychosis and Rey have a back and forth match that is evenly paced early on but, Rey makes a mistake when he goes for a top rope bulldog and his knee buckles and he crashes to the arena floor. Psychosis flies off the top rope to the floor with a top rope leg drop and, at the count of 7, rolls Rey back in and gets in. Some near falls and high spots later and Rey is in trouble. Nitro goes to commercial and when we return, Psychosis is up top and goes for a 450 splash and MISSES. Rey is back in this and soon, he hits the huricanrana for a 2 count. He sends Psychosis to the ropes and does a drop toe hold which sets Psychosis up for the 619.

Just then, Guido jumps in from the crowd and gets on the apron. Rey runs and hits senton from inside the ring onto Guido which sends them both off the apron and on to the floor. When Rey climbs back in the ring, Psychosis kicks Rey in his bad knee, drops him with a gutbuster, goes up top, hits the top rope leg drop for the 3 count.

Winner: Psychosis

After the match, Guido laughs as Rey fumes due to the loss by his

distraction.

[Nitro returns to a commercial set inside a cathedral. We see a priest talking to a congregation but, Raven shoves him aside. He begins to preach to the congregation about the forgotten, the broken, the homeless, the poor, the rejects of society and how no one understand their pain…except Raven. He implores these people to follow him into a new world, very cult-esque stuff, and they listen. Raven takes his new followers as they march from the cathedral with the priest calling for them to come back. They open the doors and we see a rainy night and then the logo: “Snickers Presents: WCW Souled Out, Live THIS SUNDAY, on Pay Per View.”

[We get a video retrospective of the career so far of Goldberg. It shows him laying everyone to waste and asks the pivotal question: “Who’s Next?” Goldberg will appear again next week on Monday Nitro.]

Match #3: Booker T vs Rick Steiner

A graphic for Souled Out airs promoting the following match for this Sunday: WCW World Tag Team Championship; Harlem Heat vs The Steiner Brothers

Booker and Rick have a big back and forth battle with their respective brothers cheering from ringside. After some back and forth, Rick takes over and scores several near falls. Eventually, Booker regains control and hits the Harlem sidekick and goes up top and nails the Harlem Hangover. He covers, 1…2..3. But Scott Steiner had put Rick’s foot on the ropes at the last moment and the ref sees the foot and waves off Booker who is celebrating. Stevie slides into the ring and yells about what Scott does. This leaves to a shoving match between Scott and Stevie and they begin to brawl. As they do this, Rick sneaks up from behind and blasts Booker with a Steiner-Line and then nails him with a exploding T-Bone suplex and scores the pinfall.

Winner: Rick Steiner

After the match, the Steiners shrug and say “all’s fair in love and war” as Harlem Heat seeth at them.

[The announcers take us back to Shane Douglas’ WCW debut two weeks ago at the Georgia Dome and to his promo last week on Nitro. We are told that he is not here tonight but, the Nature Boy Ric Flair is and he will speak to Mean Gene as we kick off hour number 2 when Monday Nitro returns live from the Super Dome. Don’t go anywhere.

============================

[Nitro returns and Mean Gene Okerlund is standing in the ring. He welcomes us back to Monday Nitro and welcomes back, The Nature Boy Ric Flair.

Flair comes out to a loud pop as he steps into the ring and has a bandage over his head from the beating from Shane Douglas two weeks ago on Nitro.

Flair says that 1997 was the worst year of his professional life and that 1998 isn't starting all too hot for the Nature Boy. He has seen his best friend retire, he has been betrayed, beaten, humiliated and now, some punk from the outskirts of Pittsburgh has come to WCW to settle some imaginary score. The fact is that Ric Flair is a 48 year old father who is never home and who has spent more time these last two years injured than active. Maybe, just maybe, the run of the Nature Boy is coming to an end. Any man would think it is smart, it is responsible, it is right to come out here and call it a career......

........."BUT THEY'RE NOT THE NATURE BOY!!!! WOOOOOOOO!

And Douglas, punk? You got some score to settle with me? Then get in a car, hop on a plane and fly to Cincinnati this Sunday because Ric Flair is calling your ass out.

As for tonight? Tonight, the Nature Boy is here, he is ready, and he wants to send a message to Shane Douglas. Get me a referee, get me an opponent because, woooooo, someone's going to school."

Gene bails out as a referee comes in and we hear the music of Finlay who has decided to come out and accept the Nature Boy's challenge.]

Grade: 68

============================

Match #4: Finlay vs Ric Flair

This is a very stiff and back and forth match. Finaly surprises Flair by gaining the advantage early as each time he prepares to hit the Tombstone piledriver but, Flair is able to get out. Flair gets control mid match with a thumb to the eye but, Finlay takes it back when he back drops Flair out of the ring and to the floor. On the floor, Finlay slams Ric into the barricade but Ric is able to reverse an irish whip and Finlay's knee slams into the ring steps and that is the opening the Nature Boy needed. In the ring, the 13 time champ, blisters Finlay's chest and begins to prep for the Figure Four. When he goes for it, Finlay rolls him up into a small package for a near 3 count but when he goes for the Tombstone, Ric Flair is able to drop out, chop block his knee and lock on the Figure Four. Finlay tries to fight and almost gets back to the ropes but Ric lets go, drags him to the center of the ring, wrenches on his knee and locks it back on. That is too much for the Irish fighter to take and he taps out in the center of the ring.

Winner by submission: Ric Flair

[Nitro returns and we are told that the next match up is a match where the winner will challenge Curt Hennig of the nWo this Sunday at Souled Out for the WCW United States Championship. It is an opportunity for one of the young stars of WCW as well as an opportunity for a former World Heavyweight Champion to earn some gold in the twilight of his career. The match is next. ]

Grade: 73

============================

Match #5: Eddie Guerrero vs Rick Martel - Winner Challenges Curt Hennig for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship at Souled Out

This match is a battle of two distinct philosophies. Eddie keeps trying to go to the air while Martel tries to ground his opponent. Eventually it turns into a bit of a brawl and ends up on the floor when Eddie is thrown over the top rope and lands at the feet of Bobby the Brain Heenan who is sitting at ringside scouting this match. Martel comes over to grab the Latino superstar but, Eddie grabs his trunks and propels Rick face first into the barricade. That trickery gets a smile out of Bobby and Eddie throws Rick back inside. He begins to pound on Martel's face showing a ruthless side to him and the referee has to have him back off. Eddie drops Martel with a brainbuster and goes up top for the Frog Splash but Rick is up there with him and does a belly to belly suplex from the top rope! 1...2....Eddie barely kicks out. Rick goes for the Boston Crab but, Eddie sits up and tumbs him in the eye and with Rick blinded, Eddie packages him up and uses his feet on the ropes for the 3 count.

Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Grade: 70

[Following the match, as Eddie celebrates, Curt Hennig rushes in from behind and blasts Guerrero in the back of the head with the US title. He looks down at the unconscious Guerrero and then leaves the ring and looks at Bobby Heenan and winks at the Brain. Are Bobby Heenan and Curt Hennig reunited? Is he Bobby's choice? Has the Brain joined the nWo? These questions are asked by the announcers as Nitro goes to a commercial break.]

[Nitro returns and the Hardys are already in the ring:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/XVpunB0JiPA" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Match #6: The Hardys vs The Faces of Fear

Matt and Jeff come at the Faces of Fear right as the bell sounds and they begin to really fight the two monsters. This is more offense than the Hardys have shown yet and the crowd is starting to get behind them. But soon, they are eating a big boot and the Tongan Death Grip and the Faces of Fear win again.

Winners: The Faces of Fear

[Following the win, the Hardys are out and the Faces of Fear leave. Just then Jeff Hardy gets on the mic and says they still havent broken them. And next week on Nitro, in Indianapolis, the Hardys challenge you to a No Disqualification match. The Faces of Fear get in the ring and look ready to attack but, they suddenly get almost a smile and nod acceptance. With that they leave and the Hardys fall to the ground. What have Matt and Jeff's eagerness to make a name for themselves gotten them into?]

Grade: 65

============================

[The announcers are surprised that the Hardys have requested such a dangerous match. They applaud their bravery but, they wonder if we will see the end of this upstart team when Nitro originates from the Conseco Fieldhouse next week the night after Snickers Souled Out. On that night, Goldberg will be in action and we will have the fallout from Souled Out.

But that is next Monday, before we get there, WCW and Snickers Present Souled Out live from The Crown in Cincinnati, Ohio this Sunday and here is the final card:

EOR7of3.jpg

  1. Bret 'Hitman' Hart, Diamond Dallas Page and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting vs Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Hollywood Hulk Hogan
  2. Ric Flair vs Shane Douglas
  3. WCW United States Title: Eddie Guerrero vs Curt Hennig
  4. Ravens Rules: Chris Jericho vs Raven
  5. WCW Cruiserweight Title: Guido vs Rey Mysterio Jr
  6. WCW Tag Team Title: Harlem Heat vs The Steiner Brothers
  7. Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko vs Richards and Saturn of Raven's Flock

[The announcers take us back to the challenge at the beginning of the show and the acceptance. Its Bret Hart and Diamond Dallas Page against Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash of the nWo. Its the main event from the SuperDome and it's NEXT. Don't you dare go anywhere.]

Match #6 - *Nitro Main Event*: Bret "Hitman" Hart & Diamond Dallas Page vs Hollywood Hulk Hogan & Kevin Nash

This is very quickly an all out brawl that starts, at first, with Hogan and Bret Hart going at each other and escalates to Bret and Hogan brawling in the ring and Page and Nash brawling outside the ring. Officials flood the ring to try to get this match back in order and Nitro takes a quick commercial break during this process.

Back from commercial and we start to see some semblance of a wrestling contest as Nash and Page are going at it. Hogan and Nash use old school tag team wrestling tactics to keep Page from tagging in Bret Hart and Hart gets in several times only to be told that he isnt the legal man. Finally Hogan goes for a leg drop of doom but DDP rolls out of the way and he misses. Page is crawling to Bret and Hogan is desperate for Kevin. Nash gets tagged in first but Page is able to just get to the Hitman in time and Bret and Kevin go at it. They start brawling again and now Hogan and Page are back in it and all hell is breaking loose. Bret and Page are able to double clothesline Big Sexy from the ring and that leaves Hogan alone with them and he is scared to death. They both take turns beating on Hogan and Page nails the Diamond Cutter. Just as Bret locks in the Sharpshooter, the entire nWo (led by Bischoff) run down and attack. The ref calls for the bell ending the madness and DQing Hogan and Nash.

Winners by Disqualification: Diamond Dallas Page & Bret Hart

Grade: 82

[The nWo continues their beat down as official flood the ring. One by one the refs are thrown out and the crowd is screaming for Sting. Just as they do, Sting descends from the rafters and the crowd comes alive. Hogan and Nash and company have bailed from the ring but, suddenly Hogan smiles and looks up. As he does we see what looks to be a shark net fall from the sky and land on Sting in the center of the ring. As Sting stuggles to get out of it, the nWo floods the ring and attacks Sting, Hart and Page. Page and Hart are handcuffed to the ropes and Sting is pulled from the net in the set up, given the Outsider's Edge, the Jacknife, the Legdrop of Doom and the best night in the nWo since Starrcade concludes as the final image of Nitro is of Hogan holding the WCW Title over Sting's fallen body as Nitro goes off the air. ]

-WCW is said to be very pleased with Nitro this week as they feel that it really highlighted the card for Souled Out this Sunday. In recent weeks the pay per view almost felt like something that the company had to get through in the wake of Starrcade but, there is real positive anticipation for the show this Sunday. WCW feels that they should, if not a home run, then a solid double with most of the matches. WCW was very happy with the ratings win over Raw this week as they believe it is a good indicator of the strength of their programming heading into the pay per view.

-Expect the Hardys vs the Faces of Fear match on Nitro to be the blow off to this unconventional feud. Also expect a debuting wrestler for the company on Nitro.

-Attitudes have been steadily improving in WCW since taking a toxic low at the end of November last year. The backstage morale is said to be much improved as the company heads into the second month of 1998.

-WCW has secured the clearance for the return of WCW World Wide which will premiere on TBS in the early evening timeslot a week from this Sunday. It will be another B show for the company.

-Expect some more WCW special house shows including one to be streamed on WCW.com live from Boston on the run up to Super Brawl in February.

-WWF will be calling up around a half dozen new talents from their developmental beginning in January. The talents will be held to only B-shows working as enhancements while being evaluated.

-There is no interest from WWF in signing Lex Luger who was recently fired by WCW

-A major babyface will be turning heel later in 1998.

-No one is happy about this week’s ratings but they’re mostly being explained away as WCW’s go home show doing well.

-WWF recently signed ECW’s Ian Rotten and Ballz Mahoney. Word is they’re scheduled to debut as a tag team at some point but likely to be put with a manager. No word on the mouthpiece at this time.

Sunday Week 3 January, 1998 – The Crown- Cincinnati, Ohio - *SOLD OUT* (Attendance: 17,000)

Souled Out opens to a video of Raven walking with his collected souls from the church down a long corridor and we see various torture rooms along the way. We can hear a monologue about suffering and pain and how everyone makes deals with the devil. Raven gets to the end of the hall and there is a door way. He tells the people to go in and one by one they do go in this door and down steps. When they are all in, Raven gets a sick smile and says "deal's made" and we see flames shoot out from the door. With screams in the background, he walks away and the logo for Souled Out is sprawled across the screen.

Grade: 67

============================================================

The screen changes to inside The Crown in downtown Cincinnati Arena as Souled Out is on the air. The pyro shoots and the crowd is cheering and the camera shows various crowd shots before cutting to the announce booth where the new permanent pay per view announce team of Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes are sitting and they look very, very worried.

Tony: "Welcome everyone to the first pay per view of the year 1998. Welcome to Souled Out. I'm Tony Schiavone along side Iron Mike Tenay and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes and fans, I wish we could begin this broadcast with our usual excitement but, to be quite frank, we're scared to death.

If you were watching WCW Saturday Night last night you would've seen, at the conclusion of our program, a video from the nWo that has cast a shadow over our entire broadcast here tonight. Let's take you to that video from last night":

A house, described as being in Atlanta, is shown. It is a handheld camera video. We see Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Syxx claiming to be outside the house of Diamond Dallas Page. They swear that DDP will not make it to Souled Out tomorrow night and we see a light on upstairs in a bedroom somewhere. They walk up to the house but the front door is locked. Kevin goes around back and we hear him say "its locked too". Finally, Syxx notices a window that's not all the way closed. They snicker and Scott (who is holding the camera), can be heard puting the camera down so now just the house is in view. We see Syxx, Scott and Kevin climb into the window. It is dark and quiet for a minute or so and then, suddenly, a woman's voice screams out. The video ends at that moment as WCW Saturday Night goes off the air.

Tony: "Fans, here is what we know. WCW has been informed that a call was placed from inside the Page household to Atlanta Police. Officers were dispatched but we do not know more than that. All day today, WCW officials have tried to reach Diamond Dallas Page. They have tried his home phone number, his cellular number, and they have emailed him. As we come on the air tonight, there has been no response. And no one has seen Diamond Dallas Page here tonight. "

Mike: "That's right, Tony, and this is a very scary time for us all. Diamond Dallas Page is still scheduled to be part of our main event here tonight but, we have no idea where he is or what his or Kimberly's condition is. Dusty, you're close with Page, have you heard from him?"

Dusty (looking near tears): "No, I havent."

Tony: "Fans, the nWo may have gone way over the line this time. We simply do not known. But we do know this, the main event is still scheduled. Bret "Hitman" Hart is here tonight. Sting is here tonight. But, the status of DDP? We just don't know. We will keep on this all night tonight... but, for now we go to the ring with our opening contest here at Souled Out a battle for the World Tag Team titles."

The match starts out as a back and forth encounter but soon, the champs have taken Booker T and cut him off from his brother. Each time Booker tries to get to Stevie, Rick and Scott keep him away. Booker takes punishing Steiner-Lines from Rick and is suplexed all over the place by Scott. Several near falls happen as Booker tries to stay alive. The tide turns when Booker is placed on Scott's shoulders while Rick goes up top for the top rope bulldog, Booker is able to duck down and roll Scott into a victory roll while Rick crashes to the mat. Booker then clothesline's Scott out of the ring and is able to tag in Stevie Ray who immediately cleans house with a powerslam to Rick and a backdrop over the ropes to Scott. Stevie puts Rick on the top rope and hits a superplex for a two count. Rick tries another Steiner-Line only to be lifted into the air by Stevie and dropped with a spinebuster. As this happens, Booker climbs the top rope and flies off with the Harlem Hangover but he is not the legal man. Stevie goes for the cover but the ref is trying to get Booker out and Scott climbs the ropes and flies off with a elbow drop to the back of Stevie's head. He then rolls Rick on top and bails as the ref turns around and counts the 3.

Winners and Still WCW Tag Team Champions: The Steiner Brothers

Following the win, Scott, pulls Rick out just as Booker rushes back into the ring. Stevie is rolling around holding the back of his neck and Booker goes and checks on his brother as the Steiners, with Scott smirking, leave with their belts.

This match is a contrast between Rey trying to fly around the ring and Guido trying to ground him. Rey dominates early but, he makes a costly mistake when he springboards off the ropes directly into a drop kick by Guido into bad knee. At that point, Guido starts working on Rey's leg in long and painful holds such as a half Boston crab. Guido nearly gets Rey to tap out before Rey is able to reverse a piledriver attempt into a Huricanrana for a 2 count. Rey starts hitting Guido with lightening fast moves and scores several near falls. Guido is able to take momentum again when he reverses a Rey kick into another half Boston crab. Rey, screaming, fights to the ropes and Guido has to let go and when he goes over to pick Rey up, Rey is able to roll him up in a small package for a quick 1...2..3.

Winner and still WCW Cruiserweight cChampion: Rey Mysterio Jr.

[in the back, Mean Gene Okerlund is with Shane Douglas. He says "Can you feel it, Flair? They say that life is defined by big moments well, tonight is one of those big moments. 5 years ago you ran me out of WCW but, tonight, I get to return the favor. In just a little while your geriateric ass will have to walk that aisle as only you can do and you will have to face your future. You will have to face the man that you tried to screw out of a career out of petty insecurities. You will find your ass getting Franchised and I promise you, Ric, your career will end tonight. As soon as the match begins, Saturn and Richards go and grab weapons but they are unable to use them because this match is not contested under Raven's Rules. When the referee takes the weapons away, Benoit and Malenko pounce and really take them to school. They isolate Richards from Saturn and beat the holy hell out of the flunky. Eventually, Kidman from the Flock, jumps over the railing and distracts the ref while Raven hands Saturn some brass knuckles. Saturn runs into the ring and drops Benoit and Malenko with them and then gets back on the apron. Richards is able to crawl to Saturn who tags in and takes over beating up both Malenko and Benoit scoring several near falls on Malenko. When he locks in the Rings of Saturn on Malenko, Benoit flies off the ropes with a headbut to Saturn's back. This brings in Richards and now we have mayhem as all four men begin to brawl. In the ring, Benoit goes for the crossface but Saturn reverses it and nails the Death Valley Driver. He goes for the Rings of Saturn on Benoit but, Dean is able to nail him before hand. Now, Raven has gotten over the barricade and tries to get into the ring and while the ref is distraced with him, Richards has a chair when suddenly, Arn Anderson is out with a crowbar and slides in behind Richards and blasts him in the back. Benoit flies off the top rope with the headbutt and the ref turns around to see the 1...2..3.

This match is a back and forth textbook example of a terrific wrestling contest. Early on Curt leads and just out-wrestles Eddie early scoring several near falls. He goes for the Hennig-Plex but Eddie is able to reverse it and backdrops Curt to the floor. Eddie climbs up top and delivers a plancha from the top rope to the floor. On the floor, Eddie drops Curt with a suplex and drop kicks him into the steps. Back in the ring, Eddie goes up for the Frog Splash but Curt has raced to the rop and does an arm drag off the top rope for a close two count. Curt settles things down and works on Eddie's back with an abdominal stretch as Eddie goes for the ropes. Curt pulls him back and locks it in again but Eddie hip tossess Curt and nails the 3 Amigos triple vertical suplexes. Eddie goes for the Frog Splash and nails it, cover

1....2....Curt kicks out at the very last second. Eddie goes for a brain buster but Curt drops down and nails the Hennig-Plex for a 1...2.. and now Eddie kicks out just in time. Eddie goes for a German suplex but Curt revereses it and spins Eddie around and nails the Hennig-Plex again for the 1...2...3.

Winner and still WCW United States Champion: Curt Hennig

Following the win we see Bobby Heenan in the aisle. He was watching this match and the camera catches him looking at Hennig and Guerrero and he has a smile before he walks away. Kimberly Page wanted to press charges but, Diamond Dallas refused. We are told that no one was harmed. Gene asks Doug if he has spoken with Page or seen him here tonight and Doug says he hasn't. No one knows where Diamond Dallas Page is as the main event draws near.

This match is a wild brawl that favors Raven for alot of the early action as Jericho is just punished with chair shots and Singapore Canes. Eventually Jericho is able to nail a Enziguri that sends Raven crashing head first into a chair and then uses his body as a cross body block which sends them both over the ropes and to the floor. On the floor, Jericho takes Raven up the aisle slamming him into the guardrail and eventually catapulting Raven into one of the large video walls causing it to shorten out. Jericho drags Raven by the hair and slams him face first into the riser that the announce booth is on. Jericho climbs up to the announce table and flies off but Raven catches him and powerslams Jericho on the floor. He puts Jericho on an anvil case and pushes it into the video wall and then dead man lifts Jericho and walks him back to the ring. Rolling Jericho in, Raven gets in and goes for a cover 1...2...Jericho kicks out. Raven sets up the Evenflow DDT but Jericho reverses it into a brainbuster for a 2 count. Jericho has a cane and starts slamming it into Raven's back and head and sets a chair in the turnbuckles and goes to whip Raven in but Raven reverses and catapults Jericho's head into the chair. He pulls Jericho out and covers....1..2...Jericho kicks out barely. Raven sets up a chair and then drops Jericho on the chair with a Evenflow DDT and that does it...1..2..3.

We go to a video highlighting the terrific history of Starrcade from Flair vs Race to Flair and Dusty to Hogan vs Giant to Hogan and Piper to Sting winning the WCW World Heavyweight Title. The video says "where will you be when history is made again?" The video then shows a downtown aerial shot of Atlanta and follows through as a helicopter flies over The Georgia Dome. It ends with a number 15 that is engulfed in flames and the words "Starrcade 98: the 15th Anniversary...Sunday, Week 3 December 1998, from the ATL." Fades to black.

A recap video is Shane Douglas' shocking return to WCW and attacking Ric Flair. It focuses on Flair's success in WCW for the last five years while Douglas talks about having to perform in shithole, rat infested buildings trying to make a name for himself, trying to prove Ric Flair wrong. It ends with Flair challenging Shane to a fight and Shane looking at the camera and saying "I accept".

Early on Douglas and Flair really start this match as a fist fight but soon, Ric takes control and shouts "now we go to school" and really peppers Shane with chops and fists and old school wrestling that Shane literally has to bail from the ring to try to get away to get a break. Shane gets back in and is immediately drilled by Flair again who scores a two count and Shane bails once more. This time Flair comes after him and it is clear Shane has suckered him in as Shane sends Flair into the ring post. He drops Flair on the floor with a Piledriver and gets back in the ring. The ref starts to count and eventually, the Nature Boy, is able to get in right at the count of 9.

Douglas takes control and starts working on trying to bust Flair open with right hands and eye gouges and even a bite to the forehead. Douglas scores a 2 count on a DDT and then clips Flair in the back of the knee with his shoulder. He goes for another piledriver but Ric backflips him and throws Shane into the corner where Ric unloads with chops that makes Shane's chest raw and a little blood shows.

Flair goes for the Figure Four but Shane gouges him in the eye, grabs Ric's trunks and catapults Ric face first into the second turnbuckle. He rolls Ric up and grabs his tights for a close 2 count. Douglas drops Flair with the piledriver again and this time it busts him open. With blood pouring down Flair's face, Shane yells "now, you piece of shit, we go to school" and locks on Ric Flair's own figure four. Flair screams and tries to get to the ropes but Shane pulls him back in and drops a knee onto Ric's left knee. He locks it back in and Ric almost taps but he pulls Shane and somehow, some way, Ric is able to make it to the ropes.

Douglas refuses to let go as Ric screams in agony. The ref tries to get him to let go but Shane gives him the finger and the ref quickly counts to 5. Shane still has the hold on Flair who is nearly unconscious from the pain and the ref calls for the bell and awards the match to Flair on a Disqualification.

Winner by Disqualification: Ric Flair

Grade: 60

Following the match, Shane Douglas goes to leave the ring but, then grabs a chair. He chases the referee off and yells at Flair to get up. As Flair tries to do so, Shane blasts Flair in the left knee with the chair. With Flair screaming, Shane slams the chair down again and again and again on Flair's knee. Finally officals and some wrestlers flood the ring and pull Shane Douglas off the Nature Boy. Shane leaves smirking as Flair is screaming in pain and he is helped from the ring completely unable to walk on his own power.

We go to the announce booth and are told that they will try to get us an update on the condition of Ric Flair tomorrow night on Nitro. Gene Okerlund is in the back and the guys ask him if anyone has seen Diamond Dallas Page and Gene says no, they stil havent. There is no time left, the main event is next and Sting and Bret Hart will have to go at against Hogan and the Outsiders, apparently, all alone.

Grade: 76

zJKR7os.jpg

The match begins with the nWo making their entrance unified. Bret is out first for his team and then Sting. Diamond Dallas Page's music hits but, he doesn't come out. It appears team WCW will have to go at it alone and they do and for awhile, it appears that they might actually win this. At one point Bret Hart locks in the Sharpshooter on Hogan and the crowd comes alive as Hogan might tap before Bischoff gets on the apron distracting the ref and that allows Hall to get in and blast Hart from behind. This brings in Sting who attacks Hall and then Nash is in and he Jacknife's the champion and drops him to the floor.

Hogan makes the tag to Nash and he and the nWo begin to decimate Hart. They cut off the ring and dont let him get to Sting who keeps trying to make the save and Bret, at one point, takes a Outsiders Edge and a Jacknife but keeps kicking out at 2. Finally when Hogan is in the ring, Sting jumps on him from behind and drops Hogan with the Scorpion Death Drop and gets back on the apron. Bret crawls to Sting and finally, finally makes the tag.

Sting is in and Hogan see him and immediately begs Hall for a tag. Hall is in and Sting lays into him and scores several near falls. Hall quickly gets out of it and Nash is in and he and Sting go at it. Sting is set up for the Jacknife but he drops out and nails the Scorpion Death Drop. Bischoff is again on the apron distracting the ref as Sting covers. Hogan is in and drops the leg drop on the back of Sting's head. He then goes and blasts Hart off the apron.

Nash crawls over and tags in Scott Hall who then picks up Sting for the Outsiders Edge when....

The crowd comes alive as DDP, in his street clothes, runs down to the aisle and gets on the ring apron. He slides in and nails Hall with the Diamond Cutter and Nash rushes and Page moves out of the way and Nash hits the ring. Bret is on him on the floor. Hogan is in the ring, without tagging, and Page and Hogan go at it and the crowd is on their feet. Page goes for the Diamond Cutter but Bischoff pulls his leg and it allows Hulk time to nail him from behind. He sends Page into the ropes and kicks him with the big boot. He goes for the legdrop of doom but Page rolls out of the way and Hogan crashes. Page goes for a count but Hall breaks it up and nails Page from behind. Hogan is able to tag in and Hall goes for the Outsiders Edge but Page is near the turnbuckle and Sting runs and does a Stinger splash crusing Hall and Page in the turnbuckles.

Hogan takes Sting and now they are fighting on the floor. Hall goes for the edge again but, Page reverses it, DIAMOND CUTTER. Cover. 1...2....3.

Winner's: Sting, Bret "Hitman" Hart and Diamond Dallas Page

Grade: 82

Hogan, Nash and Hall look stunned. Hogan pushes Hall for losing the match and almost punches him before Nash steps in between. With Bischoff on his tail, Hogan storms away and Nash and Hall watch him leave before leaving themselves. Hart, Sting and Page all hug and then Page points at the WCW World Heavyweight Title reminding Sting that Page is his challenger next month at SuperBrawl. Sting shake's Page's hand and leaves, Bret Hart leaves as well and the final image of the night is Diamond Dallas Page, in his street clothes and the savior of the match, on the ropes giving the Diamond sign as the fans scream in approval as Souled Out goes off the air.

When Michaels re-enters he pokes Shamrock in the eyes before taking control of the match and getting a two count following a quick DDT. Michaels continues to work Shamrock over, with Rude on the outside getting a few shots in as well. Michaels goes to the corner to warm up the band but when he launches his kick, Shamrock catches it and puts him in the Ankle Lock. Michaels is floundering trying to get to the ropes but Shamrock pulls him to the middle. Michaels is on the verge of tapping when Rude gets on the apron, but he’d slid the briefcase in first. The referee and Shamrock turn their attention to him allowing a momentarily hobbled Michaels to retrieve the briefcase and when Shamrock turns around, Michaels wallops him in the head with it before pitching it back to the outside. Finally Gunn breaks through and they begin double teaming Animal in their corner with a close two count following a spine buster from Gunn. Animal makes a small comeback but the numbers game bites him as the Outlaws make extensive use of the five second rule to take shots at him. </p><p> Finally Animal gets a second breath when he ducks a double clothesline and bounds off the ropes with a double shoulder block to floor his opponents. Out of instinct he reaches to his corner but of course there's no one where until the crowd erupts and we see someone running down the aisle to the ring.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Yw5r6v9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Yw5r6v9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Hawk jumps onto the apron urging his partner on. The Outlaws look stunned to see him, having believed he wasn't medically cleared from his prior concussion. The sight of Hawk recharges Animal who begins battering the Outlaws, sending Road Dogg out of the ring before demolishing Gunn with a clothesline. He gives Hawk the signal and lifts Gunn onto his shoulders, but as Hawk climbs the ropes he seems to get dizzy, swaying a bit before crashing down to the floor and landing in a heap. At that moment, Road Dogg comes back into the ring and clips Animal's knee from behind, causing him to drop Gunn. Billy quickly bounds off the ropes and hits the Fameasser on Animal who's already kneeling from the cheap shot. Gunn makes the cover and we have new Tag Team champions.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Winners by Pinfall and new WWF World Tag Team Champions: The New Age Outlaws </strong></span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Grade: 80 </span></strong></p></div></blockquote> <p> </p><p> <img alt="sy1OKB4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sy1OKB4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="EiA8duj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/EiA8duj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Yw5r6v9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Yw5r6v9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="1qZPUqg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1qZPUqg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="mLSbjpc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mLSbjpc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <em>A replay is shown of the end of the match, highlighting Hawk apparently losing his balance when going for the Doomsday Device and how the Outlaws capitalized and became the new Tag Team Champions.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Grade: 67</span></strong> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sy1OKB4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sy1OKB4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="jpGiFf5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jpGiFf5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="D5L9Q0A.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D5L9Q0A.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="iYCbZUE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/iYCbZUE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="AwLQevZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AwLQevZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <em>We’re taken to the locker room of the Nation of Domination. That only works for so long before Henry catches him with a big right hand. Mero, not expecting it, falls back to the corner where Henry begins going to work on him with power move after power move. Mero goes to the outside, asking the referee for a timeout but as Gorilla Monsoon reminded us for years there are no time outs in profes....sports entertainment. </p><p> Mero finally comes back in and tries to surprise Henry with a running forearm but he's caught in a bearhug. Frantically trying to find a way out, he gouges Henry in the eyes. Blinded momentarily, Henry is open for the picking as Mero goes back to punches, punishing Henry's kidneys and his exposed midsection. However as Mero lays in a particular solid punch Henry regains his sight and looks furious. Mero turns and tries to run but Henry catches him from behind, and avalanches him chest first into the corner. Mero crumples as Henry backs off. Henry drags him to the center of the ring before dropping a big elbow across his chest. But he doesn't go for the pin. Henry picks Mero up and slaps on his side headlock. When he regroups he gets back in but is chased out again after Muta nearly kicks his head off his shoulders. Finally Michaels climbs back in, warily, and they lock up. Michaels takes control and had the advantage over the next several minutes, trying to keep Muta grounded and working him over. However, when Muta begins a comeback and bounds off the ropes to deliver a second corkscrew elbow drop, Rude tries to trip him. The referee sees this and orders Rude to leave ringside, much to the Ravishing One's protests. Now left on his own Michaels mounts a comeback of his own and when Muta climbs to the top for a moonsault, Michaels crotches him on the top turnbuckle then climbs up and delivers a back to back suplex, accidentally catching the referee in the process.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="DjHTPUb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DjHTPUb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> With both men and the referee down, Chyna runs down to the ring.</p><p> </p><p> She stomps Muta a few times. When she turns around, he sprays her in the face with green mist and spin kicks her in the stomach, causing her to fall out of the ring between the ropes. But he doesn't see Michaels up and when Muta turns around, Michaels strikes out withSweet Chin Music but Muta catches his foot! Michaels is hopping and launches an enzigiri but Muta ducks causing Michaels to fall face first. As Michaels is getting up, Muta kicks him in the side of the head, dropping him again. Muta moves to the corner, climbing to the top. He leaps off with a moonsault but Michaels puts his knees up at the last second. Michaels drags himself to the ropes, pulling himself up, and then Muta gets to his feel, Michaels again launches Sweet Chin Music and connects. The referee is up expecting to count but Michaels staggers to the corner and climbs up. He focuses for a moment and soars, dropping a big elbow into Muta's chest. He rolls over and drapes an arm over the challenger's chest as the referee counts to three.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Winner by Pinfall and still WWF World Heavyweight Champion: Shawn Michaels </strong></span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Grade: 81 </span></strong> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <img alt="sy1OKB4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sy1OKB4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="DjHTPUb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DjHTPUb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rrPX9e2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rrPX9e2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="TqGQ8iq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TqGQ8iq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <em>We get a replay of the finish which saw Chyna catch a face full of green myst, followed by Shawn Michaels hitting Sweet Chin Music and dropping the elbow to retain his championship.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Grade: 65</span></strong> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sy1OKB4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sy1OKB4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Juax5CP.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Juax5CP.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ghAO1vg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ghAO1vg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <em>Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler reminds the audience that next month the road to WrestleMania continues as the WWF will present In Your House: No Way Out!</em></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sQrp2lq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sQrp2lq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Grade: 88</span></strong> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sy1OKB4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sy1OKB4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> (Intermission...the rest of the show coming right up!)</p>

The first two entries are Blackjack Windham and Chainz. They brawl around for the first two minutes with Windham controlling the pair but then the clock begins to tick….</p><p>

Scott Taylor hits the ring and goes right for Windham. Chainz gets a momentary breather then joins in as they double team Windham but still more brawling around as we await the 4th man.</p><p>

Mosh immediately goes for Taylor and we’re back to two pairings. Mosh has Taylor almost out but Chainz breaks it up and they reset for a few moments.</p><p>

All the men in the ring turn their attention to the stage as Kane stalks down the ramp and enters. One by one they all run at him and are all chopped down by throat thrusts. They all know they need to eliminate Kane and suddenly its five on one but he fends them off.</p><p>

Savio Vega hurries down and joins in on Kane. The others are all trying their best to eliminate him but his strength is incredible. Kane grabs Taylor by the throat and hoists him as if he’s going to chokeslam Taylor over the top as the countdown begins.</p><p>

Kane stops when the Undertaker’s music hits. He drops Taylor to the mat and the other men stop as the Undertaker enters the ring and goes nose to nose with Kane. Without so much as a word Kane and the Undertaker whirl at the men surrounding them, dropping them one by one with right hands. Then it’s a matter of anything you can do I can do better. <strong>Kane eliminates Mosh when he flings him over the top rope. The Undertaker does the same to Scott Taylor. Kane then sends Chainz over the top with a big boot to the head. Windham is next when Taker sends him to the floor with a clothesline over the top. Savio is caught between the two monsters and it’s Kane who snatches him by the throat and chokeslams him to the floor. But when Kane turns, the Undertaker boots him in the face and sends him over as well</strong>, but Kane lands on his feet and just stares up at his brother as the timer begins.</p><p>

Farooq is next and immediately goes to war with the Undertaker. They brawl around but Farooq gets the upperhand and nearly has the Undertaker eliminated when the buzzer sounds.</p><p>

Phinneas Godwinn is up and he joins in trying to send the Undertaker to the outside but the Deadman fights back and creates some distance between him and the other two men. Undertaker goes on offense, taking on Phinneas and Farooq at the same time.</p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="IEDelWf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IEDelWf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Goldust hits the ring and picks on Phinneas who seems to be in the worst shape. The four men pair off and Goldust almost has Phinneas over the rope but he can’t quite get the leverage. The timer begins again.</p><p>

Terry Bam Bam Gordy comes down the aisle and when he gets in he immediately goes for Goldust, freeing up Phinneas who gets a second wind and then moves over to help Farooq with the Undertaker. Gordy forces Goldust into a corner, hitting a series of punches and elbows, quickly wearing out the European champion. </p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

Ahmed Johnson is the next man up and he makes a beeline for Farooq, peeling him off the Undertaker and taking him to another corner where they begin fighting. The Undertaker can then focus on Phinneas which is not good news for the pig farmer.</p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

The Nation gets its second entrant and he of course goes to his leader’s side, beginning a double team of Ahmed Johnson. In the other corner, Goldust has recovered and is trying to escape Gordy who seems to be intent on eliminating him. When they get close to the Undertaker they switch dancing partners and Taker attaches to Goldust leaving Gordy and Godwinn to fight. With Johnson well in hand, <strong>Farooq takes the opportunity to attack Gordy from behind with a running knee in the back, then dumps him over.</strong></p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

Mankind comes running down the ramp, as well as he can and goes straight for Goldust who had just separated himself from the Undertaker. Without missing a beat, <strong>Mankind clotheslines Goldust over the top, taking himself over in the process.</strong> They get up, with Mankind seeming to favor his ribs and brawl to the back. Meanwhile, <strong>the Undertaker sends Phinneas over the top with a huge right hand. </strong> But with his back turned, he doesn’t see that <strong>Farooq and Kama have eliminated Ahmed Johnson</strong> and that as they come up on him, <strong>they send Taker over the top with a double clothesline.</strong></p><p>

Accompanied by Mr. Fuji, the former WWF Champion makes his way down the aisle. When he enters, the Nation looks stunned and Farooq orders Kama into battle. <strong>Kama charges Yokozuna, who sidesteps him and launches him over the top by the back of his head.</strong> Farooq realizes he needs an ally as we await the next man.</p><p> </p><p>

Henry O. Godwinn enters and he and Farooq understand they need to attack Yokozuna from opposite directions. For a few minutes it works as one will attack when the massive man is busy with the other. They even begin to try and lift him over but it’s no use. More manpower is needed.</p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

Thrasher comes in and he too adds his muscle and they do begin to lift Yokozuna. With Farooq muscling from down below, they slowly but surely get him up, perilously teetering as the countdown begins.</p><p>

As Jarrett hits the ring, <strong>the others shove Yokozuna to the floor</strong> but they’re all off balance. Jarrett, ever the opportunist, <strong>runs over and helps flip all four of them over the top with their own momentum.</strong> He smirks and plays to the crowd as he stands alone waiting for his next opponent.</p><p>

The Sandman appears high up in the crowd with a beer in one hand and a Singapore cane in the other. He drinks the beer, before bashing himself in the head with the can. Jarrett watches in horror as the Sandman makes his way down to the ring, and even more so when he doesn’t drop the cane which Lawler is irate about but Ross reminds us there is no disqualification in the Royal Rumble. Jarrett begs off but he has nowhere to go as the Sandman begins caning his back without mercy. Jarrett seems to jump with every smack and finally <strong>hops over the top rope, eliminating himself</strong> just to get away leaving the Sandman in the ring alone and he holds the cane high in the air with the crowd going crazy. Breaking glass and kicking ass, Austin stalks down to the ring, eyes on the Sandman. When they come nose to nose, there’s some trash talking we can’t really hear then the fists are flying. The Sandman loses the cane in the middle of it, which a referee reaches in and removed. They trade shots, both being rocked but neither man losing his urge to fight. </p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="iYCbZUE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/iYCbZUE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

If anything could get either Sandman or Austin to take their eyes off each other it’s D’lo hittng them both from behind and for the next few moments they kick the hell out of him together until it’s time for the next entrant.</p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="9QqZws5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9QqZws5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Shamrock comes in and begins fighting with Austin, leaving Sandman and D’lo. They both brawl for a few moments before Austin begins going on a tear and ends up with Shamrock. As the Sandman is trying to eliminate D’lo, the buzzer begins again.</p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="GDGiR58.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GDGiR58.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Triple H is next and he goes immediately for Austin. They begin focusing primarily on each other. Meanwhile Shamrock and D’lo and Sandman are all fighting each other. Sandman ends up missing a clothesline on D’lo and Shamrock makes Sandman pay by <strong>sending him over the top via a modified belly to belly suplex.</strong> Shamrock then goes for Triple H, allowing Austin to tangle with D’lo. </p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="9IQREL9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9IQREL9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Owen Hart is the next man, coming in at number twenty-five just as <strong>Triple H eliminates Shamrock.</strong> He and Triple H tangle while Austin and D’lo go back to war but before long <strong>Austin eliminates D’lo after hitting a stunner and D’lo does the rest.</strong> Austin takes a much needed breather as we find our next competitor.</p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9feLX333vMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/9feLX333vMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="ghAO1vg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ghAO1vg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

To the surprise of everyone, especially Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler hops up and removes his jacket showing his ring attire. He gets in the ring but is immediately leveled by Austin who shows no mercy in stomping a mudhole in the King’s royal ass and walking it dry. Triple H and Owen have not stopped meanwhile, nearly eliminating each other a few times.</p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="rfjm4H7.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rfjm4H7.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Vader wastes no time in hitting the ring and his target is obviously Austin. Lawler slinks away while the mastodon pummels Austin in the corner, so he goes to help Triple H, holding Owen up. When Triple H runs in, Owen breaks loose and <strong>Triple H knees Lawler, sending him out to the floor.</strong></p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="G1sdG1k.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/G1sdG1k.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Flash Funk enters next and tries to jump on Vader’s back but he’s bucked off like a rodeo rider. This gives Austin just enough time to regroup and he comes out firing right hands, backing Vader into the corner and then cutting him down with kicks. A quick double bird and Austin goes back to work on him. </p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p>

<img alt="3fZJdHI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3fZJdHI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Blackjack Bradshaw is 29th and he heads off Austin. As they pair off, Triple H and Owen are on the top rope. Triple H is setting up for a Pedigree off the ropes but Owen shoves him off. After Triple H gets up, Owen flies and nails a missile dropkick. Meanwhile Vader is back up and he avalanches an unsuspecting Flash Funk in the corner. <strong>Vader picks him up and rag dolls him to the floor.</strong></p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/3KkfUTybEMg?rel=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="D5L9Q0A.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D5L9Q0A.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

The Rock is the 30th man and when he hits the ring he goes right for Austin. Owen ducks a hellacious lariat from Bradshaw, <strong>then eliminates him by hitting a picture perfect dropkick.</strong> Triple H is next but Owen low bridges the top rope and Triple H tumbles out. Vader charges Owen in the corner but Owen moves, and Vader crashes in chest first. Owen and Austin connect a glance and whip Vader and Rock into each other. Staggered, <strong>Austin eliminates the Rock.</strong> and Owen helps Vader to the ropes trying with all his might. Austin comes over and lifts Owen’s legs, <strong>dumping both Vader and Owen over with their momentum</strong> before falling onto the mat in celebration.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

But Owen hangs onto the bottom rope!</p><p> </p><p>

Austin is unaware as he’s calling for a beer. <strong>Owen runs up behind him and dumps him out</strong> for the final elimination.</p><p>

Cut to two and a half years later and Benoit, after being in the very same bingo hall that Shane bitched about performing in, came back to WCW and you know who mentored the Crippler? Arn Anderson and Ric Flair. Controlling the opening minutes, Goldust hits Mankind with everything he has, getting a two count early on. But when the actions goes to the outside, Mankind finds a new lease on life, reversing a whip into the post which sees Goldust bounce off it. Mankind then takes advantage punishing the champion with several heavy right hands as he leans against the stairs. Mankind backs up and sprints at Goldust intending to hit a knee lift but Marlena pulls him out of the way and Mankind hits the steps and flips over them. Meanwhile, Luna has retrieved a chair and when Mankind staggers to his feet she whacks him over the back, but it doesn’t have any effect. He turns, smiling at her, and catches the chair when she swings again. However he doesn’t see Goldust coming from behind and after Luna runs away, and Mankind turns around again, Goldust dropkicks the chair into his face and makes the cover on the outside but only gets a close two count. Goldust picks up Mankind by the hair and leads him to the ramp and up to the stage. Mankind begins to fight back, but Goldust stops that with a knee to the gut, then grabs him in a reverse headlock before delivering the Curtain Call on the stage. That garners the first fall for the European champion. </p><p> </p><p> Goldust follows his pinfall by picking up Mankind and throwing him backstage behind the curtain. He meets Love on the ramp and they battle down to the ring. Once they’re both in it’s Dude Love getting the advantage and running Goldust down with a series of clotheslines before stopping to dance a little. Goldust tries to take advantage but gets a backdrop for his trouble. At this point Marlena gets on the apron and blows smoke in Dude’s face. He looks at the crowd, before grabbing her and planting a big kiss on her. She breaks away and looks disgusted. Goldust rushes in but Dude moves and he knocks Marlena off ther apron into the arms of Luna who cactches her before they both tumble to the floor. Goldust turns around right into a tye-dyed Mandible Claw. He tries to escape but he can’t and soon is on his back before going limp and ther referee calls for the bell with falls tied 1-1. </p><p> </p><p> As the third fall begins, Dude rolls Goldust out of the ring, then fishes out a 2x4 from beneath the ring. As Goldust gets to his feet, Dude cracks him over the back. Goldust tries to escape up the ramp, hit several more times. As they vanish backstage, a camera and a referee are in tow. They continue to brawl down the hallways, using anything that’s available. Finally they come into the catering area where Dude introduces Goldust to just about every food item available face first. As Dude lines up for a cliché cream pie spot, Goldust hits a low blow. Goldust then launches Dude through an office window before falling on his rear end to catch his breath. That 2-out-of-3 Falls Match was awesome! I can't believe the WWF never did that in real life, now that I come to think of it. Unique and very good stuff.

Not sure if the apparent death of the nWo is just a swerve...but I'm paying attention for sure.

Just now catching this and I got to say, I like it a lot. I love the competitive feel this dynasty brings, as well as all of the hard work you two put into this. Owen Hart winning the Royal Rumble was no doubt the best alternate decision that could have been made in real life. Good storytelling! Also like how Bret Hart was handled in WCW, much better then how WCW did it in real life. I'm definitely following now! Keep up the great work!
