AI reviving old companies

Recommended Posts

Did I miss the boat on this? I didn't think this could happen. I just skimmed the patch notes and didn't notice anything about it.

An AI owner reopened a company that had been bought out earlier in the save. I was incredulous at first, thinking I must have been mistaken. But the newly formed company has, on day 1, an extensive alumni list. They also have the same show history of the old fed and they seem to have maintained the rights to the old titles (though they're inactive). They do not, however, have the rights to their old events.

Perhaps this is well known, but I didn't think it was possible, so I'm very pleasantly surprised by this event.

I can confirm that this is not a feature in the game.

I've double checked and there's no way that a company that has already been active could possibly be reopened, irrespective of whether they've been disbanded or not - only companies that have no Opening Year are eligible, and it's impossible for a company that was active in the game world to not have one.

My guess would be that either you slipped out of admin mode at some point or you accidentally reset something while editing.

<p>It's also possible to alter the name and abbreviation for the closed company in the editor and then accidentally re-import the original disbanded company in the editor as 'yet to open' with a random opening date.</p><p> </p><p>

Either that or Adam's code has developed a self-learning algorithm on its own and the A.I. lords are coming for us all...</p>

I did reload without saving a couple of times going into the new month that got the opening and it was into January, but I haven't seen that cause erratic behavior before.</p><p> </p><p> Do you want the save file to examine it? I can upload it somewhere and send you a link.</p>

How do you play a game in admin mode? What does that mean? Is it like Commissioner mode on OOTP Baseball? <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

High five for OOTP, though.</p>

<p>From looking at the files you sent me, the issue is that your Warrior's Road company never actually officially begins - the game begins in 2016 and they suddenly appear out of thin air in 2018. They're never founded, there's no news story to announce that they are opening - nothing. They are therefore not being revived at all, as from the game's perspective they never opened in the first place.</p><p> </p><p>

A company cannot start during game time without generating a news story, it's impossible, so as far as I can tell either someone has tampered with the files to "force" them to open without realising that this would cause issues, or the game was played outside of admin mode at some point to create a "shadow" copy of the company that has the wrong data.</p><p> </p><p>

Either way, this is not something that can occur naturally during the game which is why nobody else has ever had this happen.</p>

Yes I must have imported it directly into the game at some point. I had noticed when I did that rather than open them the normal way that the companies would have an opening date listed as "Unknown."</p><p> </p><p> That clears it up. Thanks!</p>
