Jason Miller Meets Melvin Manhoef in Promotional Debut at Bellator 201 Bill in Temecula

Bellator MMA didn’t waste any time finding an opponent for the promotion’s most recent free agent signing.

On Thursday, the company revealed that it had inked long-time middleweight standout and former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Jason Miller to a multi-fight deal. Just a day later, Bellator MMA has revealed that Miller will make his promotional debut at Bellator 201 on June 29, taking on Dutch banger Melvin Manhoef in a Middleweight affair at the Pechanga Resort And Casino, Temecula, California

The Manhoef-Miller clash is expected to be the co-feature of the Bellator 201 bill, which is headlined by the Bellator flyweight championship bout between Illima-Lei MacFarlane and Alejandra Lara.

Junior Dos Santos to face ex-WSOF Champ Blagoy Ivanov in UFC Fight Night Boise feature

Junior dos Santos will welcome former World Series of Fighting heavyweight king Blagoy Ivanov to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 133 on July 14.

Sherdog.com confirmed the pairing on Monday evening. UFC Fight Night 133 takes place at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.

Dos Santos was recently cleared by USADA in an anti-doping case after it was determined the ex heavyweight champion took a tainted supplement from a Brazilian compounding pharmacy. “Cigano” last competed at UFC 211, where he suffered a first-round technical knockout loss to Stipe Miocic in a title bout. The 34-year-old has alternated wins and losses in eight bouts since 2012.

Ivanov, meanwhile, has lost just once in 17 professional outings — a second-round submission defeat to Alexander Volkov at Bellator 120 in May 2014. Since then, he has reeled off a five-fight winning streak, capturing the belt for the now-defunct WSOF promotion in the process. He last appeared at Professional Fighters League Fight Night on Nov. 2, where he outpointed Caio Alencar on Nov. 2.

Justin Gaethje vs. Al Iaquinta headlines UFC Fight Night 135 in Nebraska

The UFC’s debut event in Lincoln, Neb., appears to have a headliner – as unlikely as it seemed just a day earlier.

Lightweight contenders Justin Gaethje (18-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and Al Iaquinta (13-4-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) will fight at UFC Fight Night 135 in August, according to Sherdog.com.

UFC Fight Night 135 takes place Aug. 25 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The fight appeared unlikely just a day earlier; UFC President Dana White joined the “UFC Unfiltered” podcast and shot down the possibility while blaming it on Iaquinta’s desire for a better payday.

“Yeah that’s a fun fight, but it isn’t going to happen,” White told the UFC’s official podcast. “Iaquinta is absolutely 100 percent out of that fight.”

Gaethje looks to snap a two-fight skid; after debuting with the UFC in 2017 and moving to 18-0 overall with a TKO victory over Michael Johnson, the 29-year-old former WSOF champion has suffered back-to-back knockout losses to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier, though both losses earned “Fight of the Night” honors.

He takes on Iaquinta, who returned from a yearlong layoff this year and suffered a unanimous-decision title loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov; it came in a short-notice affair as a replacement Paul Felder (and Iaquinta wasn’t eligible for the belt because of a weigh-in quirk due to the late notice). The defeat snapped the 31-year-old “TUF 15” runner-up’s five-fight winning streak.

Julia Budd vs. Talita Nogueira, Michael McDonald vs. Eduardo Dantas announced for Bellator 202

Julia Budd will defend her featherweight title against Talita Nogueira in the Bellator 202 headliner.

Promotion officials announced the bout on Monday. Bellator 202 takes place at the Winstar World Resort and Casino in Thackerville, Okla., on July 13 and airs on the Paramount Network at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. In the co-main event, UFC veteran Michael McDonald will face ex-bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas.

Budd captured the inaugural women’s featherweight crown with a fourth-round stoppage of Marloes Coenen at Bellator 174 before defending the belt with a split verdict over Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 189 this past December. The 34-year-old Canadian owns an 11-2 career record that also includes a triumph over former UFC featherweight queen Germaine de Randamie.

A 32-year-old native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nogueira is unbeaten in seven professional appearances. She made her promotional debut at Bellator 182, where she submitted Amanda Bell with a rear-naked choke in the first round last August. “Treta” has finished two of her victories by KO/TKO and five via submission.

After a 6-3 stint with the UFC, McDonald signed with the Scott Coker-led organization last year and debuted with a three-round verdict over Peter Ligier at Bellator 191 on Dec. 15. “Mayday” is 18-4 as a pro, with 15 triumphs coming inside the distance.

Dantas had a four-bout winning streak snapped at Bellator 184, as he relinquished the 135-pound strap to Darrion Caldwell in a five-round decision defeat in October. The 29-year-old Brazilian is 10-2 under the Bellator banner and 20-5 as a professional overall.

It looked like we were about to see a shot from Smullen, but Pena was more aggressive and took the initiative. Pena lands a left jab, but Smullen avoids a big right. Smullen shoots in, looking for a takedown. He has the takedown! It's a single leg, and Pena has to pull guard. Smullen pounds away on Pena, but few of the shots lands clean. Pena uses his legs to push Smullen back, and tries to scramble for position. He may regret that choice, as it gives Smullen the perfect opportunity to come over the top and get side control. Smullen throws a few right hands as he takes a moment to plan ahead. Smullen blocks an attempt to pull guard.Smullen tries to lock Pena in an arm triangle. Pena gets caught by the arm triangle, and it's deep enough that he has to tap! Richie Smullen takes the win by submission!

Round 1

We are underway! A three-punch combo fails to trouble Phillips. Mitchell shoots in, looking for a takedown. Mitchell drives forward and gets the takedown! Phillips couldn't quite stop it. The takedown leaves Phillips seated with his back pressed against the cage. Not liking his options, Mitchell looks to get a better position over Phillips. Mitchell shows his ground skills and gets full mount! Mitchell tries to lock Phillips in an armbar. The armbar is fully applied, Phillips has no option but to tap out! The winner, by submission; Bryce Mitchell!

Official Result: Bryce Mitchell defeats Kyler 'Matrix' Phillips by Submission (Armbar) in 1:41 of round 1.
