AAW: Canada Needs a Medic

Recommended Posts

An almost empty high school gym in Texas echoes with the rattle of bodies hitting the ring canvas. A giant figure lays atop someone about half his size as the referee counts to three before a shoddy microphone is used to announcer the winner.

"The time, two minutes and ten seconds. Your winner: Giant Redwood!"

I stared up at the lights as I could somewhat hear what was being said over the microphone. I heard the few cheers of the people that peppered the gym. The high school boy's basketball team gets more fans than this show did I would gather, but it is just part of paying dues right? Performing for small crowds, eating pins from wrestlers who have seen better days and getting the occasional competitive match low on the card with someone like me.

But it has been ten years. Ten years since I started my journey and still have yet to find what I want. Traveling all through the south and Midwest in my old car. Often sleeping in it to save money as I go show to show. God knows I have wanted to quit, but I am too stubborn. I take what bookings I can get. I have tried to make connections, but I can't say I have a true friend in the business. Why do I still do it?

Because I love wrestling and I am a stubborn fool. I feel I still have a chance and all I need is one break to show I am more than fodder and in reality I am a good worker. At least I always felt I am a better worker than I am often allowed to show. Yet here I am getting paid little to pretty much be tossed about by Giant Redwood and then get berated by him afterwards for not selling enough to his liking. A plodding fool like that had years of success, even if it was mostly during the dark times of USPW, and here I am still looking for steady work.

With a sigh I move towards the beat up El Camino that I own to throw my bags into the car before taking a look around. Everyone else has pretty much left. I tend to like to linger after a show and just unwind and collect my thoughts. With everyone gone I reach up and I start to work at untying my mask when a voice spoke up.

???: "Hey there. Do you have a moment?"

The voice is unfamiliar, but had a distinct accent to it. Jamaican I would like to say. Or somewhere from the Caribbean at least.

BCTXdTB.jpg

???: "I'm Harry Chadwick and I have been watching you for awhile. Care to have some coffee and talk?"

The name run a bell. Not sure why exactly. He was in an expensive looking Lexus and and he motioned for me to come around and get in the passenger side. All I can do is give a bit of a nod and utter two words in reply.

"Uh....sure?"

Not Long After at a Local Coffee Shop

Harry Chadwick. I had a hard time remembering why I knew that name, but during the short car ride I remember him being a pretty big business owner in the state of Louisiana. Why he was out here in Texas I had little clue, but he certainly seemed to know more about me than any other person I have met when it comes to my wrestling career.

Harry: "But that match with Whiskey Jack about a year ago? I am glad for once one of the older guys let you have some offense."

Medico: "Umm, thanks. Mister Chadwick?"

Harry: "You can call me Harry. No reason for formalities over coffee."

Medico: "Right....I am flattered someone like you knows of me and such, but I have to ask. Why have you been keeping track of me?"

There is a little twinkle in his eye as he smiles before taking a sip of his coffee. He then slides over a folder. Inside is several papers with hand written notes and some photos attached. A few faces that only seem familiar. Looking about it also showed they were from various places. England, Sweden, US, Canada, Japan and Mexico.

Harry: "You aren't the only one, but in the end you are the one I decided to approach. I have made my money and now that I am getting older I want to have fun with it. So the past few years I started traveling. Taking in wrestling shows and watching people and finding wrestlers who I could tell had a desire and willpower to succeed, but never got a shot. How old are you?"

Medico: "Thirty in a few months. I started training at eighteen and put on the mask at nineteen. I was hoping given I worked along the border a lot maybe a lucha promotion might catch sight of me."

Harry: "And you still toil away without any real resume. All of the people in that folder are like you. At least seven years in the business and not finding a way to get a break. Talented, but somehow overlooked for some reason. Bee it appearance or size or some other reason. People that deserve some sort of shot going somewhere, but have yet to find their way up the ladder."

Medico: "I see....but why me and what exactly is it you are looking for M....Harry?"

The smile he gives is something akin to the look a grandfather might have on his face the moment he sees his grandchild in the first time. I am not sure what exactly he still wants from me, but at least he is a comforting figure and not imposing to be around.

Harry: "I want to start a wrestling company and in the end you won out to be the one I would ask to help run it. I know a little about the business and I can handle contracts and funding, but when it comes to putting a show together I am useless."

Medico: "I feel honored, but....I haven't exactly put a show together at all myself. I have just mostly been backstage and observed things."

Harry: "And that is experience I do not have, my friend. You sit back and see things I don't. All you have to do is try. If you don't like it you can move on and I will not think less of you. At the same time I see that look in your eyes. You know it will be a challenge and you relish that."

He isn't fully wrong. It seems strange, but a weird blessing I have been waiting for? I have watched enough I think I could put a show together. At least one similar to the small time ones I have been part of over the years. After all it is mostly just small matches and a few times people are allowed to go out and talk some before their match. Even so it is a lot to take in and it is hard to say yes. At the same time this may be my only chance at doing something more than the rut I have been stuck in.

Medico: "I am willing to try. I want to try. I will do my best so count me in."

Harry: "Excellent! I'll drive you back to your car. Get some rest and call me in the morning. Oh, do you mind moving to Canada?"

Medico: "Wait, what?"

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I hate the cold.

Simple as that. I have grown up in the Southern part of the US all my life and about the furthest I traveled for a show was into the Dakota's or around Kentucky. Sure it gets cold in the South at times too, but not like this. Not like Manitoba.

At first I had though Harry was joking when he asked me to move to Canada, but soon after I started to realize it was no joke. He was offering to help pay for me to move and everything. He may be wanting to do this for fun, but he still was approaching it with his mind in business mode. He was scouring areas that seemed ripe for a new promotion to pop up and where wrestling was more popular. In the end he felt Canada was a great spot and of all places Manitoba was where he wanted to set up shop. The bigger promotions would visit, but not often and there was no real competition.

Once I had moved and got settled in to the apartment he set me up with we began scouting out places. Small gyms or bingo hall venues to see pricing as well as finding out where we could rent a ring and other equipment. The goal was to spend the next few months getting everything in order and making ourselves known to the area by putting on our first show in early 2016.

Then there was the style and contracts. Harry was really big on a promotion in Japan called Exodus and wanted to go in something in homage to it. Smaller wrestlers of various styles in fast paced matches that include breath taking spots. So we decided on a cut off on weight and started to narrow down talents.

Finding talent was another interesting thing. The idea was a mix of people like me that have never been given a chance mixed with a few people that maybe got a chance way too early and they failed to capitalize. Also finding people willing to come out all this way to do a show on what was looking to be a monthly basis to start at least. The goal was to get an experienced referee and about a total of ten wrestlers to kick off things along with a manager or two mixed in.

Money wasn't really a big thing. Harry knew this wouldn't be profitable to start, but there was the dream that eventually the promotion could sustain itself. It is wishful thinking that would happen, but I am maybe just a pessimist when it comes to that sort of thing. It just seems like so much so fast I don't know how we could turn a profit unless we operate for a few years.

It has been hectic and it will still be hectic from now on I would gather. This is my life now and I must say at least it will never be boring again if things keep going at this pace.

Did I mention I hate the cold?

<img alt="BCTXdTB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BCTXdTB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Harry Chadwick

Harry is obviously the owner, but he also wants to be something of a match maker and play a part on the shows. Given he is paying for everything who am I to argue? He does have a natural charisma to him and if he just wants to welcome people to shows and announce matches why not let him?

<img alt="9uINBDT.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9uINBDT.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Billie Krystal

We ended up only signing one manager/valet to start and it was Billie. Her boyfriend got her into the business, but she has since split with him. She has mostly worked the West side of the United States so this will certainly be a change for her too like it has been for me. In fact it is a pretty big change for most of our roster.

<img alt="kAjlePk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kAjlePk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Clarence Garcia

Clarence is oddly going to be the most recognized face out of everyone in AAW for the fact he was a referee for a few years in one of the bigger promotions in Canada, North of the Border Pro Wrestling. He wasn't cheap to get, but he is reliable and should be with us for years to come....if we stay open that long.

The Wrestlers

<img alt="DLcYpsN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DLcYpsN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Austin Smooth

Austin is the youngest member of the roster and also has the least amount of actual in ring experience. At the same time what matches we could find of him showed promise. He is an all rounder that is already a pretty solid hand even in the early stages of his career. The future seems bright and honestly if anyone moves on from AAW he might be the the first to find bigger, better things.

<img alt="sLYkO0D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sLYkO0D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Cobra

He got into the business a bit later than some and he only has been wrestling for a little bit longer than Austin, but Cobra is an interesting guy. He is one of the bigger members of the roster and fills the role of a fireplug brawler, but he also has some really good technical skills. Perhaps one of the less exciting members of the roster he still should be able to put on good matches.

<img alt="ulectNc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ulectNc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Daredevil Aero

Unlike most people on the roster Aero has worked elsewhere. A few years back he worked for a lucha promotion known as EMLL. The part that made me iffy about hiring him is the fact he no showed two events in a row and that got him fired. Hopefully he will prove me wrong because he is an exciting talent that has about seven or eight years of experience under his belt. He could be one of our top guys once we start to figure things out.

<img alt="HRZVOIt.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HRZVOIt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

El Medico

Well, that is me. A ten year veteran in the business and it feels odd, but I am one of the most experienced members on the roster. I am excited to work with all these guys and hopefully learn a thing or two while also teaching some tricks.

<img alt="hbBKPm1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hbBKPm1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

"Howdy!"

Fearless Blue is the one person I have met before during my time in the business. A nice guy that is more talented than one might expect. I think his look honestly is what has kept him from getting work, because if given a chance he can do some great moves. He apparently knows Daredevil Aero from their time in an old backyard promotion.

<img alt="W22nA1O.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/W22nA1O.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

JOJI

JOJI is an interesting one. He was trained and wrestled in Japan originally, but a failed drug test saw him lose his job and finding work afterwards was so hard he actually came to the United States to try and find work. The test failure ended up being over weed and there hasn't been any talk of him doing drugs nowadays so we decided to take a chance on him. His English is a bit suspect, but he seems like a really nice guy and just wants to be friends with everyone. Add in he is a really good talent with some exciting moves I feel he will do just fine here.

<img alt="i2KxQXc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/i2KxQXc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Lion Heart

Lion Heart is actually the only member of the roster other than Clarence that is actually Canadian which is kind of amusing to me. He has been around a bit longer than I have and is one of the larger members of the roster. He even ended up in RIPW for a few years early in his career, but never made it to SWF. With twelve years in the business he is looking to try to get his career back on track and show he isn't a lost cause.

<img alt="qUzLUiD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/qUzLUiD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Mad Dog Mortimer

The veteran of the group. It is odd to say that, but Mortimer here has wrestled for twenty years. This is more of a last harrah for him as he is closing in on forty and we felt having a veteran talent helping out the younger guys was a good idea.

<img alt="M3Xludi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M3Xludi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Mark Smart

Mark Smart is an interesting guy. Behind Mortimer he has the most in ring experience and is pretty damn talented. Yet somehow the only work he ever has had beyond small shows is getting to be a jobber to the stars for USPW. At least he was on television jobbing to the likes of Giant Redwood which is more than I can say. Right now I feel he is one of our top guys.

<img alt="7qJYhCO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7qJYhCO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Ricochet Ramone

Next to Lion Heart he is probably the best known wrestler we have on the roster as far as Canada goes. Chalk that up to a small run he had in a promotion known as ACPW. From the ACPW stuff we found he was a bit of a wild card when it came to ring work, but finding some matches of his more recent stuff and he has become a great worker. Talking with him he is going to be helping me map out the matches and basically split the duties a road agent would handle so we can save some money there.

So it was all finally done. Months of hard work and everything was finally in place for us to have our first show. I don't know how things will go, but for once I feel like I am accomplishing something in the business I love. Even if we only last a handful of shows I can say I tried something different to improve my career.

I feel we all have something to prove. We want to show we shouldn't be overlooked or that some of us deserve a second chance at something more. I am hoping everyone else shares the mindset that I do. To go out there and give it our all and make All Action Wrestling more than just a small time promotion. Some of us will leave and I know this, but I hope everyone looks back at their time with AAW fondly.

Finally in January 2016 AAW will be taking flight.

Where the hell is Daredevil Aero? It isn't like the hall we rented out to do the first show is a maze or anything, but I just can't seem to find him to go over some details on our match. I knew he arrived too because I saw him talking with Blue. Blue! That is who I should check with.

Fearless Blue: "Oh! Howdy! Hey JOJI, show him what I taught you!"

JOJI just beams and gives a thumbs up while speaking. "Howdy pardner!"

Well at least those two are getting along really well. It is probably good JOJI found someone honest to talk with and learn from. I doubt he is going to pick up any bad habits from the likes of Blue.

Medico: "Guys, I am looking for Aero. Either you seen him?"

Fearless Blue: "I think I saw him going out the back of the building? I would check there."

Giving a nod I turn to go check, but then I feel a hand on my shoulder. Turning about it is JOJI that stopped me and he had a rare serious look on his face as he made a motion with his other hand before mouthing 'Weed'. God I hope he isn't right.

Medico: "Uh, thanks JOJI. I am sure that isn't the case."

Sadly it was the case. I could smell the weed the moment I opened the door to step out. Hell, Aero still had the pipe in his hand and of all things he was smiling.

Aero: "Oh hey man. Want to try some? Helps me keep focused on the match."

Medico: "What are you doing? We got a show and you know the rules. If you were facing anyone else I would probably just pull you from the show for safety reasons."

Aero: "It's okay. I'm okay! I don't do any of the hard stuff. I just need to relax so I can you know...flow well."

I am starting to see why he was let go from the previous workplace. He probably got so stoned he forgot to even go to the show he was booked on. With a sigh I shake my head.

Medico: "Put it away. Get inside and get ready. I am docking your pay so you won't do this again."

Aero: "Whaaaa? Ahh man. Okay okay. I won't do it again."

I can only hope that is the case. Aero seemed like a nice enough guy, but I can't really condone this sort of behavior. I also wonder why JOJI knew what Aero was up to? You know, there is too much going on. I will worry about that sort of thing later.

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

OOC: Hey everyone! First of all thanks for the kind words and predictions. I haven't been around too much the past year or so because of a heavy work load and attempts to get something rolling were often lost when I got too busy to write something up. My schedule has changed recently and it has given me time to clear my head and actually do something other than work.

So I figured going back to basics was a good thing. Yes I have done AAW before so it is a bit of a retread, but I did my best to change up people so it didn't feel like a complete remake of the original or even the short lived second attempt I tried not too long ago.

Not sure what my schedule is going to be like, but I will probably have the first show up later today and will try to post at least one show a week. So for those who have followed me before it is good to see you again and for those who have never read my stuff before I hope you enjoy it.

All Action Wrestling: Taking Flight

January, Week 1, Sunday 2016

Low Key Venue (Manitoba)

Attendance: 50

kpFkTn5.jpg

BCTXdTB.jpg

Harry Chadwick steps out well dressed in a rather expensive looking suit. A large, friendly smile plays across his face while he gets in the ring with a microphone in hand.

Harry: "I would love to welcome everyone to the first official All Action Wrestling show! Tonight we will crown the first All Action Canadian champion with a great four way bout. All of our competitors are talented and it was hard to pick which four got the first shot, but be sure this is a land of opportunity."

7qJYhCO.jpg

Ricochet Ramone comes out to interrupt with a rather smug look on his face. He just holds his hand out for the microphone and after a few moments of consideration Harry hands it over to him.

Ramone: "Let me be the first to say you made the right choice in putting me in this match. This way you will have a champion to be proud of. A man that will carry that title with pride and show just who is the best wrestler here. Mark this day down, folks. You will see me become champion and I will begin my reign of domination forever!"

The fans and Harry both don't seem too impressed, but Ramone sticks around a bit trying to get the fans to cheer him without much luck. Soon both he and Harry leave and the first official match of AAW is set to begin.

Mad Dog Mortimer vs JOJI

The first bout is probably not going to be one that will be remembered down the line. While JOJI was quick and exciting Mad Dog was quickly blown up after just the first few minutes. His size advantage did nothing in this case as JOJI was just too quick for him. JOJI just wore down the bigger man with his speed. A quick dropkick downs Mad Dog and JOJI climbs the ropes before delivering a big senton he calls the JOJI Miracle Explosion.

Winner: JOJI

El Medico vs Daredevil Aero

The two look to try and put together a fast paced bout with several high flying moves, but Daredevil Aero slips up a few times and his timing is off. An obviously frustrated Medico does his best to be the one to keep the flow of the match from going completely off the rails, but it seems a bit rushed at times. Medico eventually grounds Aero and locks in a Camel Clutch in the middle of the ring. Aero soon taps out.

Winner: El Medico

Austin Smooth enters the ring and asks for a microphone. He has a rather nonplussed look as he looks around the crowd before shaking his head.

Austin: "Harry Chadwick I feel is a liar. He was out here talking about having four great competitors going for the title, but I know that is bull. You see I am not in that match. I can beat any of those guys on any day. I can make each one of them tap out. You know maybe I am going to cr-"

hbBKPm1.jpg

"Howdy!"

Austin trails off when Fearless Blue slips in. Blue offers a hand in greeting for a shake but it gets slapped away.

Austin: "I am busy. Are you that eager to tap?"

Blue asks for the microphone and Austin eventually gives it to him after making him say 'please' at least.

Blue: "I don't know why yer so angry, Mister Smooth. You get to face me instead!"

Austin doesn't seem very excited about that. He just rolls his eyes.

Blue: "Non too excited? Well shucks, I guess only one thing to do."

Blue tosses the microphone out to a ringside worker and goes right after a surprised Austin.

Austin Smooth vs Fearless Blue

Fearless Blue might look goofy, but he shows he is actually an exciting act to watch. He has Austin flustered by using his quickness to keep the rookie on his toes. Austin finally gets settled in and he starts to figure things out quickly enough. The two go back and forth quite a bit, but Smooth eventually starts to establish a good ground game to keep Blue from unleashing his rather flashy arsenal of high flying moves. Blue does well to escape a few times, but he makes a mistake that results in him being caught in the Smooth Hold. Blue fights it for a time, but eventually has to give up.

Winner: Austin Smooth

A determined looking Lion Heart comes to the ring with Billie Krystal by his side. As he gets in the ring she stops to grab a microphone before joining him as well.

Billie: Next is the big one. The match to decide the the first official champion. I am sure the other three have been preparing, but none are going to be prepared as much as this man.

Lion Heart takes the microphone and he gazes about for a few moments at the crowd as if taking a moment to consider what he wants to say.

Lion Heart: "Been in this business for a long time. Have had a lot of ups and downs. I am tired of the downs. I am prepared. I am focused. I am ready to show I can be the man. Tonight is going to be a big up for me and when I win that title? There is no looking back."

AAW All Action Canadian Championship Match

7qJYhCO.jpgOo3AVvJ.jpgi2KxQXc.jpg9uINBDT.jpgOo3AVvJ.jpgsLYkO0D.jpgOo3AVvJ.jpgM3Xludi.jpg

Ricochet Ramone vs Lion Heart with Billie Krystal vs Cobra vs Mark Smart

It is a mix of sizes and styles. Ramone is quick and a good mix of traditional wrestling moves as well as some high flying moves at his disposal. Lion Heart looks to be more of a straight up striker with an occasional slam or suplex. Cobra is a mix of technical moves as well as some big strikes of his own. Mark Smart provides plenty of quickness and big time excitement with some moves he can pull off.

It leads to a good match as a whole with each men getting to showcase their strengths. And through all of this Mark Smart seems to shine over everyone else. Maybe it is just him breaking out everything he can think of to win has the crowd behind him. That is why they are more than displeased when Ramone knocks Smart off the top rope and outside the ring. Cobra dumps Ramone out soon afterwards, but then he turns around just in time to see Lion Heart leap forward and take him out with a Lion's Pounce. Ramone tries to get back in the ring in time, but fails to get to the pin in time to break it up.

Winner and NEW AAW All Action Canadian champion: Lion Heart

Rating: 34

kpFkTn5.jpg

Final Rating: 32

El Medico: What a tiring first show. Thankfully Ramone was more than helpful acting as a agent for some matches and allowing me some time to cool off after that Daredevil Aero incident. Aero's timing to no surprise was all over the place tonight and I know exactly what is to blame on that. I hope fining him over the whole deal will make him think twice about smoking before a show.

Overall I am pleased. JOJI and Mark Smart really gave it their all with the former getting almost no help from Mad Dog. Mortimer is a good guy, but it seems he hasn't been in the ring for awhile because after about three moves he looked blown up and JOJI pretty much had to do all the work. Smart just stood out above all the others in the main event. Not saying the others were bad, but Smart really just did everything he could to get the crowd behind him.

If anything the one that was lagging behind in that match was Lion Heart. I was a bit iffy putting the title on him to begin with and now I am uncertain if I made the right call. It was mostly between him and Ramone and honestly I sort of wish I gave Mark a chance at being our first champ. Cobra was good too, but it just felt best not to give it to someone with so few years experince. Hopefully Lion Heart was just suffering from being in a multi man match and things will improve when he is working one on one.

The Morning After

The show as a whole was a success. The fans seemed to enjoy themselves and aside from the trouble caused by Aero things went pretty well. Even so it was a hectic and tiring experience for me. While a few of the boys went for drinks I decided to head home, get the mask off and just unwind.

It was more exhausting than I thought. I tend to be an early riser, but my phone was what woke me up a bit after ten in the morning. I fumbled with it to see who is calling and quickly answered once I saw it was Harry.

Medico: "Mnnn, morning."

Harry: "Didn't mean to wake you up. I just wanted to see how you were feeling."

Medico: "I'm good. It is still hard to believe it all went down. Fell asleep thinking way too much on things. Still pissed at Aero and wondering if we put the belt on the right guy."

Harry: "I understand on the former. You can fire him if you want and we can find a replacement."

Medico: "I am tempted, but I will give him another chance. If he keeps clean I think we will be fine."

Harry: "Very well. Don't worry about the title either. We are not the big leagues, friend. We can afford to test things out like this. We are catering to a few dozen fans. Not several thousand. Have confidence in Lion Heart. He may surprise you."

Medico: "Yeah....yeah. I guess you are right."

Harry: "Just take a few days and relax. Don't think about things. We can get together next week sometime and put together the next show. Talk to you later."

Medico: "Yeah....later."

Maybe he is right. I am putting too much thought in it. At the same time I can't help but worry. I am in foreign territory still. I don't want to make the wrong decisions. I need to learn when to be lenient and let things slide and when I have to be firm and put my foot down in other situations. Harry is right though. I need time to just clear my head. Worrying about things isn't going to help. I just need time. I am sure I will figure things out.

Before the Show

Shit! Not again. With about an hour to go before the show Daredevil Aero was nowhere to be seen. At least this time he wasn't found out back smoking, but at the same time that doesn't mean he didn't find another place to light up. Or is it worse? Is he pulling what he pulled with his previous employer and decided to no show.

Medico: "Dammit....guess I am going to have to chance the card."

<img alt="hbBKPm1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hbBKPm1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="M3Xludi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M3Xludi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="W22nA1O.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/W22nA1O.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Blue: "Shucks, couldn't find him anywhere."

JOJI: "No find the asshole."

Blue: "JOJI!"

JOJI: "Sorry! No find the Daredevil!"

Mark: "He isn't anywhere in this building. We checked every nook and cranny."

At least I have quite a few reliable people. In fact these three always seem to be hanging out when I see them. Not a bad thing as they all generally have a good attitude. If everyone was like Aero I think I would have already quit by now. Amazing how one person can really throw a wrench in things.

<img alt="ulectNc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ulectNc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Aero: "Oh, hey guys. Sorry I am late. I had four flat tires."

Blue: "Buddy, you ride a motorcycle."

Aero: "Oh yeah. I had two flat tires."

He can't even think of a good excuse. In a way I wish I wasn't wearing a mask so he could see how pissed I am. At this rate I might have to invert to the colors to where red is the dominant one to show how annoyed I am. Somehow I doubt he would get it.

Medico: "You are a half hour late. Look, don't do this again. No fine this time because at least it isn't smoking weed."

Aero: "Ahh no, dude. I smoked up earlier so I am good now."

God....DAMMIT.

Medico: "Mark, JOJI.....go ahead and slip out. I am going to try and go over the match with Aero and Fearless Blue."

Am I being too lenient? Does Daredevil Aero even really care about having a job? I am starting to wonder. Here was a guy I was ready to treat as one of our big deals and I can barely trust him now after what he has done. Hopefully it gets through his thick head soon that this kind of behavior isn't going to fly much longer.

Don't you have a rock to go crawl under?"

Harry who normally has a calm demeanor is obviously getting angry to the point he shuts both men up when he loudly shouts 'GENTLEMEN!'.

Harry: "My decision stands. Both of you prove to me you deserve a shot. No more words. I want to see action. A victory for both of you will go a long way. Mad Dog gets some offense in, but it is more a match to showcase what Cobra can do without being caught up in the chaos that was the four way match he was in last month. Cobra shows a nice blend of brawling and technical ability to dispatch of Mad Dog, eventually making the veteran tap out to his Viper Vice submission hold.

Winner: Cobra

Rating: 25

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<img alt="hbBKPm1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hbBKPm1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Oo3AVvJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Oo3AVvJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ulectNc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ulectNc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Fearless Blue vs Daredevil Aero

A match that hasn't happened in several years, but the two men are familiar opponents given their past. Unlike the previous match this one is far more faster paced with both of competitors far more agile and able to do some very impressive and flashy moves. A very good back and forth match sees Fearless Blue come out on top when he manages to catch Daredevil Aero by surprise with a Springboard Lariat to get the pin.

Winner: Fearless Blue

Rating: 26

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<img alt="DLcYpsN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DLcYpsN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Oo3AVvJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Oo3AVvJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="HRZVOIt.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HRZVOIt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Austin Smooth vs El Medico

The quality starts to pick up as both Smooth and El Medico are giving it there all to get the fans drawn into the match. Smooth tries to use his technical abilities to gain the advantage, but Medico shows he is more than just a high flier as he manages to counter several holds and catch Smooth by surprise. The masked veteran has the advantage actually through the majority of the match until Smooth tries to go for the mask and Medico has to try and cover up and stop him. That is more than enough to allow Smooth to get the advantage and not long after he manages to lock in the Smooth Hold. Medico tries to escape, but he soon finds himself having to tap out.

Winner: Austin Smooth

Rating: 36

Smooth asks for a microphone after the match and he just has a big grin on his face as he casually looks towards the entranceway.

Austin: "Hey Ramone. JOJI is allowed to show off much more than he could in he quick match he had last month and Ramone proves between the ropes he might not be the most exciting guy, but he does well to dictate the pace of the match and keep everything flowing nicely. A great back and forth match between the two with several close falls. It finally ends when Ramone reverses a move into a snap German suplex and he quickly follows up with the Ricochet Senton for the win.

Winner: Ricochet Ramone

Rating: 41

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<img alt="i2KxQXc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/i2KxQXc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9uINBDT.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9uINBDT.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The champ is out next with Billie Krystal at his side and the title around his waist. For someone who is champion he isn't smiling and instead has a more serious demeanor while Billie fetches him the microphone.

Lion Heart: "Last month I faced three very good wrestlers, but in the end I stayed true to my word. I would not squander an opportunity and now here I stand your champion. It is not time to celebrate. I have a bullseye on my back and tonight the first man to come after me I already know is going to be a challenge. Mark Smart, I want you to know I am taking this seriously. I hope you are too."

Rating: 25

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<img alt="EGtkACN.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/EGtkACN.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

AAW All Action Canadian Championship

<img alt="i2KxQXc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/i2KxQXc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9uINBDT.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9uINBDT.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Oo3AVvJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Oo3AVvJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="M3Xludi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M3Xludi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Lion Heart © with Billie Krystal vs Mark Smart

While not a bad match, it is a bit marred by the previous two being better overall. Mark Smart does well, but doesn't look as good as he did the previous month while Lion Heart seems to be better when it comes to a one on one situation. Mark Smart tries to keep the pace fast and to his advantage while Lion Heart is all about keeping the faster, smaller opponent grounded and use powerful suplexes and slams to keep the advantage. The champ gets in trouble a few times, but his size and ability to keep the match more to his pace allows the champ to take down Mark with the Lion's Pounce and score the victory.

Winner and Still Champion: Lion Heart (Defenses: 1)

Rating: 30

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Final Rating: 31

El Medico: Austin Smooth is the real deal. How he can be so good with so little experience amazes me. Only thing he lacks might be his ring psychology but that was something I was able to help with and with the right opponents should never be an issue. As long as he isn't expected to lead the match he won't really be exposed.

JOJI and Ramone were just on fire tonight. They put it all out there and really put the rest of us on notice to step up our game. It honestly deserved to be the main event and perhaps in the end harmed the match after it because the audience was a bit wore out after this one.

The main event itself? Well it was okay, but it didn't do as well as I had hoped. The timing wasn't off or anything. Both guys seemed to do well enough, but there were just some intangibles there that made it come off a bit average. That is exactly where I would put it too. Out of the five matches it was square in the middle. I am not ready to give up on Lion Heart yet. I do want to see what he can do with some of the other guys on the roster first.

Even though he is just thirty years old he has been wrestling for twelve of those. A capable brawler that showed promise early on to the point the Supreme Wrestling Federation signed him to a deal and sent him down to RIPW for training in November in 2006. It had to be the greatest day of his life at that point, but in early 2009 his dream of making it to the big leagues came to an end.

RIPW decided he wasn't improving enough to keep on the roster and he was let go. I think in the end it put a chip on his shoulder because when me and Harry met with Lion Heart the first met him his personality isn't much different than how he portrays himself in the ring. He is serious and he was eager to join AAW and prove himself. It seemed like a good fit. He gets a chance to find some regular work and we get someone who has some name value in Canada. Most of us were from the US or elsewhere. Ramone and Lion Heart were the only two faces people might recognize beyond Clarence Garcia.

And it has to be said while I question making him champ he is doing his part to try and be the best champ he can. The first match may have just been nerves because the second match he showed improvement. Not only that he had been hitting the gym hard once we hired him. It is paying off too because he was showing pictures of him just a few months prior compared to how he looks now. He is showing much more muscle now while not putting on the extra weight that would put him over the limit we are trying to keep in AAW. It will only help him stand out more, though at six feet and four inches he already is the tallest member on the roster and size wise only Cobra and Mort are close.

In the end I have to root for him. I can understand the frustration of being overlooked. To just be another body on the card with little fanfare. I can only imagine his frustration is bigger because he was so close to making it only for him to be cut loose and drift about doing small shows for several years.

For now Lion Heart is the champ. I need to just have faith. I think we will all do our best to help Lion Heart out and maybe eventually he will find success again.

<img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

AAW Taking Flight 3

Main Event for the AAW All Action Canadian Championship

Lion Heart © vs Austin Smooth

Also Featuring

Ricochet Ramone vs Fearless Blue

El Medico vs JOJI

Mark Smart vs Cobra

Daredevil Aero vs Mad Dog Mortimer
