Welcome one and all to the Ultimate Fighting Championship from the Silver Nugget Casino in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m Eric Bischoff and we are soon going live with the second Ultimate Fighter tournament. One month ago, relative newcomer Ken Shamrock earned his nickname of the “World’s Most Dangerous Man” when he defeated four other fighters from around the world to win the entire tournament. Shamrock returns tonight to try and retain his stop on top of the UFC mountain, but he has some stiff competition ahead of him. Fellow finalist Dan Severn returns to try and stake his claim among the best, as does Russia’s Victor Zangiev and the USA’s Dean Malenko. We have four new debuts this go around, with England’s Norman Smiley competing alongside Japan’s Yoji Anjo, Minoru Suzuki, and “The Living Legend” himself Yoshiaki Fujiwara. Enough of the talking, let’s go down to the ring for some Ultimate Fighting action.

== THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 2 FIRST ROUND ==

<img alt="" style="font-size:10pt;max-width:100%;" src="https://i.imgur.com/Q4cuBqC.png?1"><span style="font-size:10pt;"> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/FZdfh1s.png?1" alt="" style="font-size:10pt;max-width:100%;">

DEAN MALENKO VS. NORMAN SMILEY

England’s Norman Smiley, a well-rounded grappler, made his UFC debut against one of the most underrated competitors of the first Ultimate Fighter tournament. With their stats being virtually identical, Smiley and Malenko were meticulously slow to start the match, looking for the perfect opportunity to strike. Malenko scored the first takedown and traded the momentum with Smiley as they both worked over different body parts to gain the upper hand. Smiley managed to lock in a toe hold, but Malenko fought out of it with some well-placed kicks to bring this to a stand still. As the action continued with neither man closing in on a win, Smiley grabbed hold of a Kimura Lock but Malenko managed to escape the hold and work on the leg. A few moments later, Dean Malenko grabbed Norman Smiley’s leg and executed a picture-perfect Cloverleaf for the submission victory.

WINNER: DEAN MALENKO

Time: 6:11

Segment Rating: 62

DAN SEVERN

After a disappointing loss in the first Ultimate Fighter final, Dan “The Beast” Severn looked to bounce back this month, but he had a tough roadblock ahead of him: Yoshiaki Fujiwara. Fujiwara is a former Muay Thai kickboxer and showed his talent by beating the living hell out of Severn in the ring. Both men exchanged stiff strikes to begin the contest, but the forty-one-year-old “living legend” was not fazed by Severn’s ability. It wasn’t until Severn brought the fight to the ground that “The Beast” managed to get the upper hand in the contest. The former Karl Gotch Cup winner managed to escape a few submission attempts from Severn, and almost applied his own patented Fujiwara Armbar that would have meant the end of the bout. The match continued for a few minutes as both fighters jockeyed for position and momentum. While Fujiwara continued an extended beatdown, Severn powered out and hit a few throws that finally led to the arm bar for the hard-earned victory.

WINNER: DAN SEVERN

Time: 12:08

Segment Rating: 68

KEN SHAMROCK

Ken Shamrock came into this tournament a marked man after winning the first Ultimate Fighter tournament one month ago. His first opponent of the night was none other than Yoji Anjo, a young up and coming star from Japan who has already mastered the Japanese Strong Style moveset and aggression. Anjo was hot on the attack right after the opening bell, lighting up Shamrock’s chest with thunderous kicks until Ken grabbed his leg and planted him with a Belly-to-Belly suplex. After a few short knee attacks from “The World’s Most Dangerous Man”, Shamrock signalled for the end and locked in the Ankle Lock to force Anjo to tap out and admit defeat.

WINNER: KEN SHAMROCK

Time: 2:53

Segment Rating: 53

<img alt="" style="font-size:10pt;max-width:100%;" src="https://i.imgur.com/E25LdqQ.png?1"><span style="font-size:10pt;"> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/vM4d0gg.png?1" style="font-size:10pt;max-width:100%;" alt="">

VICTOR ZANGIEV VS. MINORU SUZUKI

While a loss to Terry Gordy last month wasn’t exactly what he had planned, Russia’s Victor Zangiev was ready to bounce back and make a name for himself in the UFC… until he met Japan’s Minoru Suzuki. From the opening bell, Suzuki rushed out and punched Zangiev in the face and planted him immediately with a piledriver. A rear naked choke that made Zangiev pass out later, Suzuki won his first UFC bout in impressive fashion.

WINNER: MINORU SUZUKI

Time: 0:19

Segment Rating: 49

I think Suzuki just set a UFC record with that win right there. Highly impressive stuff as we are down to four to crown tonight’s Ultimate Fighter. Last month’s winner, Ken Shamrock, will be looking to extend his winning streak but that Suzuki kid may just have his number. I know I would like to see Yoshiaki Fujiwara return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship ring in the future after that hellacious fight with Dan “The Beast” Severn – who in just a few moments will square off against Dean Malenko in a rematch from last month’s tournament. Malenko will look to get a win over Severn and head to the finals to hopefully be crowned the Ultimate Fighter.

== THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 2 SEMI-FINALS ==

DAN SEVERN

4:01. That was the number that haunted Dean Malenko’s mind since he was eliminated by Dan Severn in the first Ultimate Fighter tournament. Tonight, he hoped to erase that memory by being the one to eliminate “The Beast” of the second Ultimate Fighter tournament in an act of pure revenge. He nearly did so right from the opening bell, hitting Severn with a running knee that failed to knock the mustachioed man out. The match continued with both men trading blows and holds, and Malenko may have sighed with relief when his corner mentioned to him that he had passed the 4:02 mark of the match, signalling improvement over his last bout with Severn. Malenko wrenched on any body part that he could on the bigger Severn, but Dan never gave up. Severn escaped a Cloverleaf attempt and outwrestled Dean at every point from then on. With an arm bar locked in, Severn looked for the win until Dean Malenko somehow managed to escape and fired up with a few palm strikes. As the match progressed, Malenko tried once again to lock in the Cloverleaf but Severn grabbed the arm and transitioned into the arm bar that left Malenko with no other option but to tap out once again to “The Beast”.

WINNER: DAN SEVERN

Time: 7:46

Segment Rating: 71

MINORU SUZUKI

To have a chance to win back-to-back Ultimate Fighter, Ken Shamrock was ready to defeat yet another international challenge in the form of Minoru Suzuki. Shamrock entered the ring first and was stoic in his approach, ready to end this quickly to face Dan Severn once again in a tournament final. Minoru Suzuki was out second and was ready for a fight – ready to make a mark by being the guy to eliminate the first Ultimate Fighter before the finals of the next tournament. Tensions were in the air as the bell rung to start this contest as Shamrock and Suzuki stood face-to-face in the middle of the squared circle. To land first blood, Suzuki connected his forearm directly to the jaw of Shamrock that echoed around the Silver Nugget Casino. The fight was on from there! Shamrock and Suzuki exchanged blows that would make boxers blush in an ultimate fight for victory. As the match went to the mat, Shamrock tried to get the upper hand, but Suzuki surprised him with an equal amount of talent as they countered and escaped each other’s grasps. Suzuki locked in a sleeper hold on the ground at one point but with adrenaline rushing through his veins, Shamrock reached his feet and jumped backwards to squash Minoru like a bug on the mat. “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” tried to lock in the Ankle Lock afterwards, but Suzuki rolled through with one of his own. Nobody tapped out as they both jockeyed for momentum and position for a few minutes. Shamrock was able to lock in the Ankle Lock once again, but Suzuki once again rolled through and managed to get the positioning to lock in the rear naked choke. Shamrock tried to escape but Suzuki locked it in even tighter and that forced Shamrock to tap out before suffering a major injury!

WINNER: MINORU SUZUKI

Time: 8:43

Segment Rating: 48

SUZUKI DOES IT! Minoru Suzuki just made “The Ultimate Fighter” tap out in the middle of the ring! Oh my god! This is big! … and with this we have Dan Severn taking on this new fighter Minoru Suzuki to crown the second Ultimate Fighter in UFC history. Dan Severn, who may just be one of the toughest guys to ever step inside the ring, might be able to secure his place in history by beating Suzuki in this upcoming match. This one will be one for the history books. This could go either way. Stay with us as this match takes place in just a few minutes.

== THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 2 FINAL ==

MINORU SUZUKI

This is it. For Dan Severn, this match is his chance at redemption after failing to be crowned The Ultimate Fighter last month thanks to Ken Shamrock. For Minoru Suzuki, this is his chance to assert his dominance in the world of Ultimate Fighting Championship by coming in and winning the whole tournament on his first try. Both men understood this and both men were ready to fight for the right to be called The Ultimate Fighter. As the match started, Suzuki and Severn circled around one another looking for an opportunity to strike. Severn went for a takedown first, but Suzuki struck him with the knee to get the first strike of the bout. Suzuki started striking Severn with every different kick and strike known to man and looked to batter “The Beast”. Suzuki locked on an ankle lock, a disrespectful nod to Ken Shamrock, but Severn fought through the pain and started to build his comeback. Severn took Suzuki down with some suplexes and was nearly able to connect with the arm bar, but Suzuki fought out of it and kicked Dan right between the eyes. With his nose to the side and blood flowing like a wild river out of his nostrils, Severn fired up and clocked Suzuki with a lariat. Referee Bill Alfonso looked a bit concerned with Severn’s broken nose, but the match continued. Severn took Suzuki down some more with throws but was unable to lock in the arm bar. Suzuki fought through the arm bar, stood up, and targeted Severn’s nose with some kicks. With a sick sneer, Suzuki locked in a sleeper hold but applied the pressure on the bridge of Dan’s nose, looking to inflict insult to injury. “The Beast” escaped with some elbows to Suzuki’s gut and looked to hit a German suplex, but Suzuki escaped and planted Severn with a quick snap piledriver! It was all Suzuki from there, as he applied the rear naked choke with grace. Severn refused to tap and eventually passed out in the middle of the ring, forcing the referee to call it!

WINNER: MINORU SUZUKI

Time: 15:35

Segment Rating: 43

AND… SUZUKI GOES ALL! THE! WAY! With Dan Severn out cold, Minoru Suzuki is the second Ultimate Fighter in UFC history! He came here to Las Vegas, at the Silver Nugget Casino, and put away three top guys to cement his place in history. First it was Victor Zangiev of Russia, then the first Ultimate Fighter in Ken Shamrock, and now he nearly ended Dan “The Beast” Severn with that devastating piledriver and choke combo… what a match!... and we are all out of time. This has been Eric Bischoff and I want to say thank you for joining me on the night we saw Japan’s Minoru Suzuki climb the mountain of competition and plant his flag of victory right on the peak. Goodnight everybody!
