Rebuilding a Dynasty: The Boston Celtics 2004

Recommended Posts

Love seeing a few more basketball dynasties creep up and I thought I'd take a stab at one too! I'll be taking over the 2004 Boston Celtics--a team that was still a few years way of recreating the magic of the 80's and the "big 3 era."

Here's our starting roster for the 2004 preseason:

Led by Paul Pierce and rookie Al Jefferson, we are predicted to win the Atlantic Division...we'll see. As Rick Pitino famously said, "Larry Bird ain't walking through that door..."

So heading up on the trade deadline of our first season we're treading water at about 500. Made a trade before the deadline in an attempt to shake things up...

Portland is currently set for the second overall pick (and potentially Danny Granger) so we set ourselves up for the future there. Additionally we created cap space by dumping Payton (who we can replace with West) and adding Joel Przybilla at center.

Unfortunately it didn't improve our play much as we still played about 500% ball for the rest of the way. Good enough for 2nd in the Atlantic and the 7th seed. I don't expect much outside of growing pains.

So...funny thing. I had the game open last night and my computer did an automatic update forcing a reboot. Well apparently that shut my game down without a save and I had not saved...

Long story short, this one died in the water. Luckily I didn't get far with it so starting again isn't very daunting. I'll be back with a second attempt soon.
