Popularity vs Importance?

My numbers as "Popularity" are fine, atleast 75 across the USA. Yet my "Importance" Numbers are in the mid to low 60's. Of course, those numbers are keeping me from going "National". My TV shows and Events consistently runs over 70.

 

What can I do to get the importance numbers up? Obviously it is those numbers that determine the size of the company. What can I do?

Importance varies from region to region, remember. Puerto Rico is less important than the Mid South, so even if you have the same pop in both areas, the former is always going to be lower in regards to Importance.

If you didn't check before you started the game, the mod may have been set up to have swings of importance between 70-100, and if it gets down below 80%, it takes forever to get to National. Though, under normal circumstances, you need to be at 77 pop in 8 regions to be National in the US.

Importance is just "Popularity multiplied by Region Importance", which is covered in the game and has been the same for at least the last 3 TEW games now and is lilterally covered in the text in-game. Region Importance will vary between it's pre-set minimum and maximum values, and there is nothing you can do to control that once a game has started.
