(WCW 91 Onwards) - Leading The Way For The NWA

January 1991

http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u530/TsuMirren/WCW_Logo_zpswgxquqdg.jpg

It's January 1st 1991, a Monday in this TEW world, and WCW officials and NWA officials have been locked in talks since the final bell sounded at the Omni on Christmas day. Indeed, little did the wrestlers or fans know the changes to come as they left from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on the night of the 30th.

In the locker room, rumours were flying around though it had all pretty much been whispers. Ole had left early, to catch a flight back to Atlanta and the TBS headquarters, with Sting in a rage and many of the WCW roster commenting to trusted colleagues back stage that they'd never seen Sting that way. Anyone who'd been near or in the parking lot later on would have heard Flair shouting "it's not over Stinger, not by a long shot" and thought very little of it considering the ongoing feud.

Over in Atlanta though, in a locked room, there had been days worth of discussions and phone calls. On the 28th, TBS sent out a few standard press releases and included a simple invite to the WCW New Year launch. Wrestling magazines world wide saw it all as business usual and so did the mainstream media, with TBS staff not noticing anything special. Discussions in magazine offices were about the possible cooling of the WCW's wish to work with the NWA and the fact numbers were down, so was there also about to be widespread change.

Things really picked up on the 31st, there were no shows and nothing to impact upon the focus of those in the room at the TBS headquarters. Breakfast was delivered, laughter filled the room and word has it that Ted Turner himself sounded in fine form. Around 11am, Jim Herd came out the room and caught the attention of a security guard. Lunch was served, the room was a bit quieter and Jim came out again as the security guard from earlier appeared flanked by...

{The press room was fairly quiet as Jim Herd and Ted Turner made their way in along with Ole Anderson, some mild applause broke out.}

Ted: "Thank you everyone, good to see a healthy attendance here today. Now, this isn't going to be any old..."

From the crowd: "Are WCW leaving the NWA?"

Ted: "Ha ha...now, where did you get that from? No, no, WCW is not leaving the NWA. Indeed, the man who put the vision back in to television is about to put the wrestling back in to the National Wrestling Alliance. But...well let's press on shall we. Enough explanation, more action. So, ahhh, I'm only a small part of WCW and we obviously need skilled people. I'll sit down now and let Jim say his piece. Oh and you'll notice the additional chairs...just you wait to see who fills these."

Jim: "Thank you Ted and thank you everyone here today. You're all aware that I am the Executive Vice-President of World Championship Wrestling. What you don't yet know and I'd like to announce now is that, as of yesterday, I am also the President of the National Wrestling Alliance."

{Some chatter starts around the floor.}

Jim: "Now...now...everyone, if I could..."

From the crowd: "What about Crockett? What do you make of this Ole? Are the WCW actually the NWA then? Have you bought the..."

Ole: "SHUT UP!!! Let the man speak, you'll have plenty of time for questions."

Ted: "Ha ha, well I ahhh...I suppose it did the trick Ole. Jim, let's fill the first two of the additional seats."

Jim: "Okay, well first of all I'd like to ask Ric Flair and Sting to come in to the room."

{Both men enter from opposite sides, Ric sits beside Ole and Sting sits beside Jim Herd.}

Ric: "YOU...PRESIDENT...of the NWA!!! Ole, did you...you could have told me man..."

Ted: "Ric, if we could proceed without the full room hearing. Please...okay, ahhh, if we can move along."

Jim: "Next person I'd like to introduce, unless you want to do it Ole. No, okay, well the next person as we tie up part of WCW news here today..."

From the crowd: "What about the NWA?"

Ric: "Listen, I want to hear this more than anybody else in this room...shut up, you'll get your turn!"

Jim: "...I'd like to announce the new man in charge of match selection, the head of the WCW booking committee, Dusty Rhodes!"

{Dusty makes his way in to the room and sits beside Sting.}

Ric: "Taking sides already huh Dream?"

Sting: "Ric, if you've got a problem with what's going on then how about we at least settle our issues right here. At the Omni you..."

Ric: "Ah, ah, aaaaah...one more word Stinger and you'll be getting nothing. You know when we're meeting in the ring, you know where and you know what happens if you say a single other word. Woooooooooooooooooooooh!!! Just one brother, go on, come on...I dare ya!"

Ted: "Ahhh, well, okay...I suppose. Dusty, if you want you can have my seat right here."

Dusty: "Thank you Mister Turner, front and centre where the dream should be. So, what does everything you've heard so far mean for World Championship Wrestling? Well, it means wrestling will once again be at the centre of everything we want to do. A bit more tradition, if you will, a bit more competition and less messing around. People will be allowed to use their given talents. Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, marquee players in the field of wrestling announcing. Paul Heyman, a frighteningly talented individual who needs to focus his efforts. Missy Hyatt, well...ha...I'll leave that there. Plus all the great wrestling talent we have at our disposal.

Now, I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here Jim, I have a few announcements to add to those already made. WCW programming will be changing every so slightly, as we rebadge our headline show as WCW Saturday Night. It won't be live, but it will tour this great nation on occasion. We have also, Jim if I may, signed contracts to have the show carried in Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom. Now, my last piece before handing back to Mister Herd here, the NWA and WCW have reached an agreement to divide ownership and control of certain titles and I believe that list is within the press pack you'll be handed as you leave today. At some point this year we will also introduce the new WCW Light Heavyweight championship.

So, back to Mister Herd and Ric you are going to love this."

Ric: "Oh, will I!"

Jim: "Thank you Dusty and, Ric, if you could..."

Ric: "You know what Herd, I'm about this close to knocking you out and investigating some real estate in the North East. YEAH, wooooooooooooooooh! It's about time you learned that...know what, I'm sorry. I'll sit down and calmly await the big news, there's no way it can be a worse idea than me getting my hair cut."

Jim: "Okay, well, as you all know the NWA didn't have many partner organisations left as of this time last week. WCW, Pacific Northwest, All Star Pro from New Zealand and some loose affiliations with female groups were about it. PNW and ASP will remain as affiliates and we have added the LPWA to give women's wrestling the exposure it deserves. Alongside that, the Professional Wrestling Federation out of Florida have agreed to come on board and have certain aspects of their operation controlled by the NWA. They will also utilise certain formerly active NWA championships. I am also proud to announce..."

Dusty: "You ready Ric?"

Jim: "...the creation of two new affiliate companies. The first being NWA Mid-Atlantic and the second being NWA Southwest, again previously active NWA championships will be utilised by those promotions. We are also on the look out for other opportunities and looking to identify potential international partnerships."

Sting: "That's great Jim, exciting times ahead no doubt. Who will be in control of these two new promotions? Can I defend my title on their shows?"

Ric: "Your title for now..."

Sting: "What's that?"

Ric: "I said, your title for now. Are you deaf?"

Sting: "No Ric, I can hear perfectly well...as you know!"

Ted: "Okay, ahhh, if we can calm down a little bit. Jim, if you don't mind I'll introduce these next two men. Ladies and gentlemen, WCW and the NWA are looking to emphasise tradition and athleticism in the product ahhh going forwards. I'd like to now bring out two men who will be leading that drive with NWA Mid-Atlantic and NWA Southwest."

{The room is stunned in to silence as Bill Watts and Jim Crockett Jnr walk out. Bob Armstrong walks past both and sits next to Ric whilst Bill and Jim sit next to Sting.}

Sting: "WOW! You were right Dusty...Ric?"

Ric: "SERIOUSLY! This isn't the..."

From the crowd: "Ric, can you give us a few words."

Ric: "I can give both these men two words. You know, for Bill it's thank you...in all seriousness, indeed why don't you come swap seats with Bob. But Jim, Bob you'd better watch out or he'll have that seat sold before you get to it. Wooooooooooooooooh! I'm assuming you're working with him, well I wish you all the luck in the world. Just don't leave anything lying around. You'll not be trusting him with anything either, huh Bill!"

Jim Herd: "Okay, okay, Ric time out, if you can leave your comments to the end and allow Jim and Bill to put their detail across to everyone."

Dusty: "If I can just say, no matter what everyone thinks of each other in this room. I do think we are currently looking at the greatest wrestling minds, WRESTLING MINDS, in our business today. I include you in that of course Ole! Jim, would you like to go first?"

Jim Crockett Jnr: "It's going to be a pleasure to be part of this, everyone knows wrestling is in my blood. The promotion will start very small, myself and Bob will build a roster that we hope will bring some prestige back to the old Mid-Atlantic heavyweight and tag team titles. We will get some exposure on WCW television and hopefully help the National Wrestling Alliance to grow once again. I can't really say any more as this was only agreed yesterday, but certainly I'm positive and in a way Ric is correct. I can concentrate on just Mid-Atlantic, hopefully with Bob's help it'll be a success."

Bill: "Okay, I suppose it must be my turn. So, first of all it's good to be back involved in wrestling again. Proper wrestling, the sort of wrestling I promoted in Mid South and the UWF...if I'm allowed to use those letters. I don't know if that idiot in California will try suing me. Anyway, what am I here to do? Well, nobody is going to be just handed anything in the NWA Southwest promotion. Everyone will need to learn their craft and earn their progression, that's absolutely no different to anywhere else. The promotion itself will be run entirely by myself, so nobody can go trying to gain favour with anyone else. Much like NWA Mid-Atlantic, we will have a heavyweight championship and tag team. Alongside that though, something for the supposed tough guys, we'll be reviving the NWA Brass Knuckles championship. So, if you want to be a man and you feel like testing yourself...come do it in the Southwest."

Dusty: "I'd like to pick up here, if that's okay Jim. WCW obviously have some matches already in place for the Clash and Wrestle War, though the main event of the Clash is still up in the air. You can expect to see that resolved on WCW programming over the coming weeks. We'll also look to place certain NWA championship conclusions within our programming."

Ric Flair: "There's the non-televised tile match in two weeks time, woooooh!"

Dusty: "Excuse me...non-televised?"

Sting: "No cameras, no distractions, just myself and Ric one on one. I really don't have much choice and can't say why."

Dusty: "Can't say...Jim?"

Jim Herd: "I don't quite know...maybe we need to take this out of the press conference."

{The press conference moved to the questions phase, which is where we leave it.}

A sheet was included, showing the championships to be controlled by WCW and those to be controlled by the NWA.

{The show starts with Jim Ross and Bob Caudle.}

Jim: "Welcome everyone to a first, as WCW brings you Saturday Night. The excitement levels are high and, Bob, we've got a lot on tonight."

Bob: "We do, but first let's give the fans another look at the much talked about press conference."

Jim: "It was a game changer."

{Footage from the press conference is shown.}

Jim Herd: "Okay, well, as you all know the NWA didn't have many partner organisations left as of this time last week. WCW, Pacific NorthWest, All Star Pro from New Zealand and some loose affiliations with female groups were about it. PNW and ASP will remain as affiliates and we have added the LPWA to give women's wrestling the exposure it deserves. Alongside that, the Professional Wrestling Federation have agreed to come on board and have certain aspects of their operation controlled by the NWA. They will also utilise certain formerly active NWA championships. I am also proud to announce..."

Dusty: "You ready Ric?"

Jim Herd: "...the creation of two new affiliate companies. The first being NWA Mid-Atlantic and the second being NWA Southwest, again previously active NWA championships will be utilised by those promotions. We are also on the look out for other opportunities and looking to identify potential international partnerships."

{Returning back to Jim and Bob.}

Jim: "Wow, I certainly never thought I'd see the day again. But, Bob, it's already leading to great things and that will start tonight."

Bob: "Yes, fans, tonight we will see the NWA crown new Six Man Tag Team Champions. Jim, that has set things really going backstage."

Jim: "It has indeed, I believe we can bring everyone watching some insight in to that just now."

{We head backstage to the Fabulous Freebirds.}

Michael: "Woah, gold...Jimmy, we're going to..."

Jimmy: "There's only two of us Michael, it's a six man tag match."

Michael: "I know that Jimmy, I'm well aware it's a...haaaaaaaaaaaaang on! We'll get a temporary partner!"

Jimmy: "Doesn't matter who...then we can win gold and you can make the call."

Michael: "The caaaaaaaaaall, yeah I'll..."

{We cut away to another locker room, Dustin Rhodes has walked across to Tracey Smothers. There's a nod between both and a shake of hands.} (C-)

Match #1

Kevin Sullivan defeats Norman the Lunatic

[WCW hadn't seen much of Sullivan since Capital Combat last May, with Norman being an opponent in that match. Sullivan took the match to Norman for the majority, with the Lunatic still seemingly suffering the effects of the recent attack by Sid.]

(C-)

{Post-match, Kevin beat on Norman a bit until WCW first aiders and a Referee came down. Kevin gave Norman one last slap, which saw an angry reaction that Norman couldn't follow up on. Paul E appeared as Kevin watched Norman being led off.}

Paul: "Kevin, hey, can I..."

Kevin: "Interesting, I may well be right."

Paul: "Right? Right about what? More importantly, why are you here?"

Kevin: "Paul, you know it has been a while. I've had a chance to sit and reflect, ask myself what's next. For a while there I didn't quite have the answer, then it happened...I found out the boy is here!

Paul: "The boy? Oh...OHHHHHHHHHH...THE BOY!"

Kevin: "Indeed Paul, so that led me to contact people and put things in motion. You know, a company isn't always closed just because there's no staff in the office. A building hasn't always stopped production because there are no deliveries or lorries have stopped leaving the gates. Sometimes, they just need a reason to be a bit more visible, a bit more active. Well, THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE now has that reason Paul." (B-)

Match #2

Scott Steiner defeats El Cubano

[Total control from Steiner, as he builds towards his NWA World Heavyweight shot at Clash of Champions.]

(C-)

{Post-match, Sting was at the interview podium with Paul E and gestured for Scott to join them.}

Paul: "Eh..."

Sting: "Ha, bet you thought you had enough issues with Missy huh?"

Paul: "Well, everyone will find out more about that on Main Event."

{Scott appears and shakes hands with Sting.}

Paul: "Oh, how nice...a hand shake."

Sting: "Paul, don't even try going there. I have nothing but respect for Scott and his brother, if I face Scott at the Clash then it'll be a classic."

Scott: "Unless, Paul, you have your own opinion on that."

Paul: "Well, I am here to...no, no, that's fine. I've no doubt you've earned it."

Sting: "No doubt in the mind of me, or anybody else here. Now, someone else who has earned something is Ric Flair. Later tonight, I want him in the ring and it doesn't matter the type of match. Singles, tag..."

Scott: "You know, Rick is free tonight!"

Sting: "Well, there you go. Ric, tag team match tonight...get a partner pal." (B-)

{Gordon Solie is on screen for another report, footage of Doom versus Arn and Barry Windham from Starrcade cuts in as Gordon speaks.}

Gordon: "Hello everyone and welcome again to another WCW report. A lot has been happening in WCW in recent days, exciting announcements and the return of some old faces to the NWA. It's almost too easy to forget that Starrcade was only last month. One situation, which appeared to have required some solving, was that of Doom and the Horsemen. We can see here that it was far from over after Starrcade. Since then though, Doom have taken a victory over Arn Anderson and Barry Windham. That match took place at the Omni and was a nice Christmas gift for Teddy Long. What that means for the tag team division is unknown, though WCW do remain in control of those belts. I'm sure that, like me, you are all keen to hear about any plans going forward. For now though, let's get back to the ring." (B)

NWA World Six Man Tag Team Championship

The Southern Boys and Dustin Rhodes defeated The Fabulous Freebirds and Buddy Landel

[The first title change of the new era saw Buddy Landel cause the loss as he looked to be the focus and refused a couple of tags.]

©

{Post-match, Michael stopped Jimmy from having a go at Buddy. Michael and Buddy shook hands, with Michael giving a sort of "hey, shit happens" style gesture before looking over at Jimmy and giving a phone call sign.}

(C-)

{Missy Hyatt is at the interview podium, Jim Ross leads in to the segment.}

Jim: "Missy, I see you looking down to your side there. Are you worried about Paul making an appearance?"

Missy: "No Jim, he doesn't worry me. I'm waiting on my man for the Main Event...Terry Taylor. Oh, here he is and what a specimen he is."

Terry: "Thank you Missy, it would appear I've a lot to prove to some. Hopefully I'll do just that on WCW Main Event. (C+)

Match #4

Big Cat defeats David Isley

[big Cat has been struggling a little to get forward progress, he'll be hoping 1991 will see that change. A dominating win here over Isley.]

(D)

Match #5

The Renegade Warriors defeated The State Patrol by DQ

[A fairly standard match was interrupted as Arn Anderson and Barry Windham attacked The Renegade Warriors. The State Patrol thought better of making anything of it as a brief post-match beatdown continued.]

(D)

{Post-match, Ric Flair made his way down and joined his two Four Horsemen colleagues in the ring.}

Ric: "Sting...WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! You want me to pick a partner? Ha, not a chance pal! You know exactly when you'll face me in this ring. A week from today brother, non-televised, no cameras even there to film it...it'll be you and the nature boy one on one for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. As for tonight, these two men are raring to go..."

Arn: "Always are Ric, we'll even hold off until the main event tonight! Steiner, Sting...ooops!"

Ric: "...haaaahahaha, ooops! Sting, you and Rick Steiner have just made the biggest mistake you possibly could right about now. Oh and Scott, I've got a six foot nine inch tall psychopath who's just waiting for you to show your face." (B)

{Gordon Solie is back with another WCW Update, he gives the quick intro as we go in to footage of the Pat O'Connor Memorial International Cup Tag Team Tournament Final.}

Gordon: "Welcome again everyone, I hope you're enjoying the show so far. You will hopefully all be aware of the result of the Pat O'Connor Memorial International Cup and the fact our Japanese guests came so very close to victory. I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping WCW and the NWA can provide some more links with Japanese wrestling. On top of that, it can't be long until the Steiner Brothers are looking for NWA World Tag Team opportunities." (B-)

Match #6

Ricky Morton defeats Pat Rose

[Ricky steps away from tagging with Tommy Rich for the night and takes a good easy win over Pat Rose.]

(C-)

Match #7

Michael Wallstreet defeats Tom Zenk in a non-title match

[Wallstreet and Zenk had a fairly close match here until Zenk went high risk and Wallstreet finished him off.]

(C-)

{Post-match, Paul E caught up with Alexandra and Michael on the outside.}

Paul: "Alexandra, can..."

Alexandra: "Oh, hi Paul. Are you here to get advice for tomorrow night? The computer holds all kinds of data you know, not just about Michael's next opponents."

Paul: "Does it? Well, that is interesting though I think I'm okay. I was more wondering..."

Alexandra: "You know, being sexy is about more than wearing a low cut top!"

Paul: "How very true! But, if I may, why was that match just there non-title?"

Alexandra: "Well, you know, Michael has decided he doesn't need the Television title. It was only last month that he defeated Harley Race."

Michael: "Four times! That takes your stock up a bit, but I'm still considering my portfolio."

Paul: "That all seems reasonable enough to me. Let's go backstage and discuss tomorrow night and Terry Taylor."

Michael: "Who?" (B-)

{A NWA hotline advert plays, Jim Ross gives the voice over as we see footage from the press conference, Sid tearing a cage apart and a promo for Wrestle War 91.}

Jim: "The new NWA hotline is the place for all the latest news on the evolving picture in the NWA. All the exciting developments..."

Jim Herd: "We're looking at NWA shows right now and the month of April..."

Jim: "...needn't just be read about in the magazines. Wrestle War 91 is just around the corner and Sid is evidently in no mood to be locked down, here's hoping the cage is stronger in February. Plus, the World Tag Team Champions...what next for them?"

Teddy Long: "Wrestle War 91, we'll fight whomever is stupid enough to step up. Doom will even beat you silly across both rings!" (C-)

Match #8

The Lightning Express defeated The Master Blasters

[A bit of a shock here, though The Master Blasters are yet to really impress. Brad Armstrong on the other hand was the stand out here, so perhaps singles gold somewhere isn't too far away.]

©

{There was a pre-match insert, with Stan Hansen.}

Stan: "NWA, WCW...it doesn't matter to me! I'll destroy anyone who gets in my way. Lex Luger, you can pose and stand alongside Sting all you want. When I want that title back, I'll damned well take it back. But, I've other matters to deal with...the pride and honour of being a real man! At Wrestle War 91, that battle comes to the WCW and it's gonna get bloody!" (B)

NWA United States Heavyweight Championship

Lex Luger defeats Rip Rogers

[A weird selection of opponent, with Rogers having not won in WCW since defeating Reno Riggins at Halloween Havoc 90. Lex despatched him fairly quickly.]

©

{Gordon Solie is back with another WCW Update, his final one of the evening.}

Gordon: "Welcome again, you certainly can't say that WCW doesn't keep you informed. You may recall this match from Starrcade, with Sid teaming up with Dan Spivey. Even the Motor City Madman and The Big Cat found those two men too much to handle. Sid is, of course, one of the Four Horsemen and is hoping to be in peak condition come Wrestle War 91. Spivey, on the other hand, has decided that he wants the NWA United States Championship. That match, versus Lex Luger, has been agreed upon and will take place at Wrestle War 91." (C+)

Match #10

Brian Pillman defeats The Juicer

[Yet more weird booking as the new committee evidently are struggling with things. Pillman was great as always, with The Juicer either off his game or just lacking that special something.]

©

{Pre-the main event, Ric Flair and the Horsemen appear through the curtain. They pause, as Ric poses for the crowd and then gestures to show what a specimen Sid Vicious is. Jim Herd appears, in a rare appearance that doesn't involve an announcement, and goes to stop Ric.}

Jim Ross: "Now, if I know Ric Flair, he will not take well to that."

Bob: "No, wrestling fans, we could well be seeing the fallout from the press conference."

Jim Ross: "Fallout is a great word, wish I'd thought of that. I wonder if our camera crew can get closer in..."

{Ric is pointing to his hair and then sticks one solid finger in Herd's chest.}

Ric: "Next week, there's nothing you can do about it."

Jim Herd: "Ric, you've been at the centre of too much chaos..."

Ric: "Yeah, well it's not over. Not by a long shot pal!"

Jim Herd: "So, the NWA and WCW have decided to remove you from all programming until after your match with Sting."

Ric: "WHAT? Are you insane? I am the programming, I'm the nature boy Ric...wooooooooooh...Flair."

Arn: "Ric, Ric...play it smart, we've got this! It's going to be two on two...it will be two on two right Jim?"

Jim Herd: "If Ric and Sid go back behind the curtain then I'll ensure Scott Steiner isn't at ringside."

{Sid shakes hands with Barry Windham, it almost appears as if something exchanged hands.}

Jim Ross: "Did you see anything there Bob?"

Bob: "No, just a handshake."

Jim Ross: "Okay, well both men are now away and it'd appear we'll be good to go shortly." (B)

Match #11

Sting & Rick Steiner defeated Arn Anderson & Barry Windham by DQ

[it became clear that something had changed hands as Windham took out Steiner with a bunch of rolled up coins. Strangely though, he allowed the Referee and Sting to see it and that brought about the DQ. Sting went to assist Rick, but was grabbed and thrown out the ring by Arn. The show ended with Windham laying in head shot after head shot on a grounded Rick Steiner.]

(B-)

Overall: C+

TV Rating: These will be picked up after the show airs on the Saturday.

OOC: Damn...I suck!

It's very apparent that Buddy Landel punk won't make it anywhere, no matter what year it is :p

I can't really say I understand how that show ended up with a C+ when there were so many Bs and B-s on it. Maybe it's Herb's ghost coming after you since you started a new diary?

Paul looked upset, wondering why Jim had all the latest gossip and said Jim could take this on his own. (C+)

Match #3

Gordon Solie gave a WCW round-up, looking at the situation between Sting and Ric Flair since Starrcade. Gordon stated it was sad to see Flair tarnishing his reputation with silly games. Now, WCW and the NWA did consider televising the match this evening and Sting stated that we couldn't. I...I know that is unusual for a wrestler to dictate something like that. I can only say that he merely mentioned that he needs this match."</p><p> </p><p> Tony: "Needs, if you don't mind me saying, is an unusual way for a Champion to speak about a title defence."</p><p> </p><p> Jim Herd: "Yes it is. Match #1

Eddie Guerrero defeats Pat Rose (C-)

*** WCW/NWA Special Report ***

A quick caption appeared on screen to show a WCW/NWA Special Report was coming next, this saw Jim Herd standing backstage at an arena.

Jim: "Hello everyone and thank you for tuning in to WCW Main Event. As you are all aware, Sting was to defend his Championship last night versus Ric Flair. I can now tell you that Ric Flair gained the victory in that match and is now the NWA World Heavyweight Champion once again. We can't show you any footage of that match, though we can bring you this quick clip from after the match."

Sting is shown on his knees, he looks up at the Referee and we can just about hear the exchange.

Sting: "I couldn't let you disqualify him, I just...gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Ref: "Okay, okay, I don't understand it..."

Sting: "No, it's...damn...damn!"

We return to Jim Herd.

Jim: "The task for myself and the NWA Championship Committee now is to gain that understanding. Ric Flair will be on WCW Saturday Night next week to explain himself, I can promise you all that much." (B-)

Match #2

Norman The Lunatic defeats The Motor City Madman (D+)

Post-match, Kevin Sullivan was waiting again and as he went to slap Norman he was blocked then shoved on his backside by Norman. Kevin sat there laughing to himself as we went to Jim Ross and Missy. (C+)

Gordon Scott brought everyone a special PPV update on Clash of Champions. Here he confirmed that Ric Flair would now face Scott Steiner. (C-)

Match #3

The Young Pistols defeated The Royal Family (D+)

Jim Ross and Missy Hyatt went to highlights from WCW Saturday Night, the focus being on Sid and Brian Pillman more than Sting getting the victory. (B-)

Match #4

Interesting moves early on. I'm guessing Lex is in rehab? Really looking forward to the explanation on Flair being handed the gold off Sting (since you can't do that match in TEW), especially since you kept Herd which is going to make Ric very cranky. Seriously, kudos for keeping that sack of trash around. I've never fired anyone in a game and made that many people happy before.</p>

I've never fired anyone in a game and made that many people happy before.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The "handover" was the Saturday night house show, in line with real life. All explained through the shows. Lex isn't in rehab, I just needed to mix things up a bit from real life and he's an easy high level choice for a story pawn. See the upcoming Saturday Night tv for more on that.</p><p> </p><p> I've already failed one Herd goal, but I defy anyone to not let Ric become more popular.</p>

Match #1
