(WCW 91 Onwards) - Leading The Way For The NWA

Recommended Posts

<p>So many title matches I had to make sure this was 1991 WCW and not 1999 WWF <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Dustin and the Pistols - <em>While Nash is a diamond in the rough (very, very rough), this team is full of hot young white meat babyfaces, so they emerge victorious.</em></p><p>

Dynamite Kid</p><p>

Bobby Eaton</p><p>

Misty Blue - <em>I wouldn't even doubt it that Moolah retains, but seriously, screw Moolah. I never really liked her at all. She may have been solid in the ring in the pre-TV era, but by the time it was widespread, she was a horrific wrestler, and even after she retired she was like a wet blanket on Mae Young's (alleged) comedy segments.</em></p><p>

Terry Taylor - <em>Taylor plucks a victory from the jaws of defeat, I would reckon either with a fluke roll up or DDP interjecting himself where he doesn't belong, or both. I'll agree with it being a </em><em><strong>Falls Count Anywhere</strong></em><em> match, because that's like a scary hardcore match many years before hardcore matches were a thing.</em></p><p>

The Fantastics</p><p>

Rick Rude</p><p>

Stan Hansen</p><p>

Lex Luger</p><p>

Doom</p><p>

Sting, Pillman, Steiners - <em>Like, where does the story even go if the Horsemen win? Larry or Sid can take the loss here, probably Larry since he isn't an actual Horseman, and it'll give one of the faces a boost toward facing Flair.</em></p>

WCW WrestleWar 91 - Week 3 February 1991

Wrestle_War_91.jpg

Dark Matches

JYD vs John Nord

[JYD managed to get a bit of offence in early on, but was distracted by Norman being out at ringside. Nord used the distraction to force JYD in to a corner and the match was all his from there. Some brutal clothelines in the corner were followed by an arm drag then a measured legdrop. Sullivan was laughing and in the faces of the announce team as they setup, Dusty was overheard shouting across "bother us when it matters baby". Towards the end, Nord looked down at Sullivan and received a nod prior to lifting JYD up and squeezing the life out of him.]

Winner: John Nord

NWA United States Tag Team Championship

The Big Cat & Buddy Landel © vs Eddie Guerrero & Atlantis

[Landel started this match off, with Cat not looking happy from the off. Landel was on top initially, though wasn't isolating anyone and was constantly shouting across to The Big Cat. Eddie and Atlantis did get back in to the match, sending Big Cat even further in to a rage, and a near fall was achieved whilst the Referee looked to get Cat back in the corner.

Eventually, Cat did get in and he dominated Atlantis...throwing him in to his corner and working him over. Cat would tag out again, pushing Landel as he came in. This led to a small package, though Landel kicked out and got in Cat's face a little as Atlantis tagged out. Landel turned in to a dropkick from Eddie, then a push from Cat that saw Landel walk in to a tilt a whirl backbreaker and a pin.]

Winners: Eddie Guerrero & Atlantis

{Post-match, Landel tried to apologise to The Big Cat only to be clotheslined. Big Cat followed this up by throwing Landel out of the ring and then launching him in to the guardrails. Cat would drag Landel round and run him in to the side of the ramp as WCW officials finally made their way down.} ©

{The show starts with Jim Ross, Dusty and Tony at ringside.}

Jim Ross: "Folks, welcome to another running of WCW WrestleWar. We'll be moving to our tables shortly, a little spring cleaning is required first."

Tony: "Just to explain, for everyone at home, we have already seen some action and an ambulance has even left the building early on."

Dusty: "It's WrestlWar baby, everyone wants to make their mark and the WCW wrestlers who wrestled prior to us going live are no different."

Jim Ross: "Now, with that in mind, you can dial the WrestleWar hotline right now and find out just who was in the ambulance. Plus, hear about the NWA title that changed hands."

Tony: "Yes, a title victory already and I wonder if that's a sign of things to come."

Dusty: "I think we have, is it six, title matches coming up so the opportunity is certainly there for changes right here tonight. But, that aside, I know I'm not alone in saying that War Games could be the most dangerous match seen to date in WCW or even the NWA."

Jim Ross: "Two teams with a lot on the line folks, some of it that we aren't even totally sure of."

Tony: "Sting and Ric Flair have certainly been discussing it as an end of something."

Dusty: "Change baby, that's what Ric Flair said...change the face of professional wrestling forever. That's one hell of a claim for anyone to make, never mind Ric Flair."

Jim Ross: "We will, of course, be hearing from Alfred Hayes through this telecast as he brings us updates from backstage."

Tony: "Let's not keep everyone waiting, take us to the ring."

Dusty: "WrestleWar, live and in colour, strap yourselves in!" ©

NWA World Women's Championship

The Fabulous Moolah © vs Misty Blue

[The crowd hated this one, with Dusty Rhodes referring to Moolah and the NWA's history during commentary. Most of it was spent waiting for Moolah to actually lock-up, with Moolah even calling for a microphone and Dusty refusing to pass one up to her. Moolah did take early control, when the action came, but it didn't last long and Misty managed to hit a dropkick after Moolah had let go of a rest hold where she'd ruffled Misty's hair.

The finish itself saw Misty drag Moolah out of a corner and apply a figure four, with Moolah tapping very quickly.]

Winner: Misty Blue

(D-)

{Post-match, Paul E and Hollywood appear at the top of the ramp and wander down a little bit.}

Paul: "Wow, well done Misty...just, don't go selling the belt! Now..."

{There's a ripple of laughter around the arena.}

Paul: "...oh, you liked that? Well, let's see if you like this. Misty, you look amazing and at least you offer something unlike Missy Hyatt. But, you're just not the A list female in WCW. That title rests with Hollywood here, who I'm proud to announce has just agreed to allow me to manager her affairs. Again, not the sort of affairs Missy likes to get involved in.

So, enjoy your win and go defend that title in the NWA territories. We will, it's safe to say, be in touch." (C-)

WCW-_Divider.jpg

Jim Ross: "So folks, as you'll all now be aware, we're currently unable to bring you Stan Hansen versus Vader."

Dusty: "They will battle in Japan, but for now let's quickly look at some action from their previous matches."

{Footage played of Vader facing Stan Hansen in Japan.}

Dusty: "I can also reveal that we'll see both men in action for WCW ahead of Japan." (B)

No Disqualification Match

Tim Horner vs Stan Hansen

[Dusty: "If ever I did not want to be a man, alive or dead, it's Tim Horner...and he may be both of those by the end of tonight."

Jim Ross: "Stan Hansen has a fair bit of frustration to get out here tonight folks, you may want to send your children out of the room."

Tony: "This really is a frightening situation for Tim Horner, a man who if you recall has been blamed for the injury to Vader."

Jim Ross: "We should of course point out, that blame has only been apportioned by Stan Hansen."

Dusty: "I can't see anyone...oh, here we go..."

Stan immediately grabbed Horner and took him to one corner, with the referee trying to break things up.

Dusty: "It's a no disqualification match, what is the...oh my Lord!"

Tony: "Did Tim Horner just slap Stan Hansen?"

Stan clotheslined Tim in the corner and then suplexed him out, before dropping an elbow. He would go out and grab his rope, then he wrapped it round Tim and threw him in to the corner again.

Jim Ross: "I repeat folks, you may want to...good grief, what a clothesline!"

Stomps in the corner followed, before he came out of the corner and threw up an arm for the crowd.

Jim Ross: "Quite frankly, he could finish this now and...don't go shouting down at us Stan, your opponent is right there!"

Dusty: "Oh man alive...he's tying that rope around the legs of Tim Horner."

Tony: "Here comes Brad Armstrong, who has a match of his own later this evening."

Jim Ross: "He's obviously trying to keep his distance here and Stan drags Tim out of the ring with the rope."

After some pleading from Brad, Stan kicked Horner off the ramp and then proceeded to drag him halfway back up so the blood was rushing to Horner's head. We could hear Armstrong shouting "just end it, please...pin him" before he untied Horner. Stan laughed, dragged Horner back on to the ramp and then powerbombed him. He then carried him in to the ring, slammed him and pinned him.]

Winner: Stan Hansen

©

{Post-match, Stan was about to powerbomb Tim again when Brad came in the ring.}

Dusty: "Oh, this is not going to end well...I need to get in there..."

Jim Ross: "Dream...WHAT? Well, folks, Dusty has just..."

Tony: "He's at least up on the apron, Hansen has now seen him and is moving across."

Jim Ross: "Dusty is now inside the ring folks, he's between Stan and both men now. Brad evidently concerned for his tag team partner and..."

Tony: "I hate to stop you Jim, but Vader is making his way down the ramp."

Vader came down the ramp, with Hansen noticing this and trying to get past Dusty. Dusty was overheard saying "there's no match baby, you touch him here tonight...no match in Japan" and Hansen backed down.

Jim Ross: "Folks, I believe we can go back to Alfred and the Dynamite Kid." (B-)

WCW-_Divider.jpg

{We go backstage to Alfred and The Dynamite Kid.}

Alfred: "Thank you Jim and, yes, I am hear with The Dynamite Kid. Now, Dynamite, you laid out an offer for young Owen Hart and he knocked it back in to your court so to speak."

Dynamite: "He did, I think he's been in Europe too long...doesn't want to make a decision. Either that or he phoned his dad and Stu said...tiger, you gotta remember and stretch your man, stretch him, stretch him, gaaah..."

Alfred: "Ha, that's very very well done."

Dynamite: "Well, Stu, my old friend. I'm certainly going to make your son stretch this evening. We're bringing the ladder match to WrestleWar."

Alfred: "Wow, a ladder match here tonight. Plus, of course, I believe footage of this show will form part of Screensport's listings. Do you have a message for anyone back home?"

Dynamite: "It's been a while boys. Mark, Marty, Johnny, anyone...fancy a crack? Jump on a plane and come take a pop!" (B-)

NWA World Six Man Tag Team Championship

Dustin Rhodes & The Young Pistols © vs The Master Blasters

[Forge started off, but The Young Pistols got an early advantage and also managed to double team Blade through the ropes after he'd been tagged in later on. The Master Blasters dropped to the floor, Steel looking not too happy as he pointed at Dustin. We also saw the first evidence of the side story, with Norman appearing carrying the tattered looking bear.

Tony: "We appear to have Norman out again, no idea why."

Dusty: "Didn't he get involved in the match before the Clash? Dutch Mantell wasn't too happy after that."

Jim Ross: "It's like he's not understanding his training, or heck I don't know."

Tony: "Mark Youngblood is out now too, folks we apologise if we're missing any in-ring action here."

Back in the ring, Steel and Dustin were going at it until Dustin was isolated in the Master Blasters corner. This saw the usual attempts by The Young Pistols to get in the ring, with the Referee forcing them back. Eventually, the Referee took an interest in the triple teaming and no sooner had he stopped we saw Norman and Mark Youngblood scrapping all the way to the edge of the ring.

Dusty: "What the hell? Would someone get Kevin Sullivan out here."

Jim Ross: "You may not want that Dusty, he did mention that the boy was a target."

Tony: "That's a very good point, I can't think of a more obvious boy than your son Dusty."

Steel gets involved with a big boot to Youngblood, whilst in-ring we see The Young Pistols fighting Blade and Forge. Norman is giving Steel a big hug as we see Dustin come in and cover Blade, Smothers spins the Ref round and he makes the cover.]

Winners: Dustin Rhodes & The Young Pistols

(C-)

{Post-match, Master Blaster Steel is already round at Dusty.}

Steel: "You see that, huh? Yeah, of course you did!"

Dusty: "What do you want me to do, you were in the match...not me!"

Steel: "I've got this...WHAT? I don't want a bloody hug!"

{Norman looked upset, but then noticed Dustin and his eyes lit up as he got in the ring and ran at him.}

Dusty: "Steel, what is it you want man? I've...HEY!"

{Norman sends Dustin flying straight in to a corner, smiles and just leaves.}

Dusty: "You know, I think I need to make a visit to a certain Slaughterhouse on Saturday Night."

Jim Ross: "Dustin is down folks, The Master Blasters are on their way out...Steel still shouting across."

Tony: "We're going to let things calm down here folks, let's get back to The Freebirds and DDP who are with Lance Russell. Lance, over to you."

Dusty: "What happened to Mark Youngblood, is he okay?"

{We see Mark down beside the ramp, clutching the piece of paper in his hand." (C-)

WCW-_Divider.jpg

{We're with Lance Russell, he's in the Freebirds locker room.}

Lance: "These three men have a lot on their minds tonight."

Michael: "Damned right we do Lance...how you doing man?"

Jimmy: "He gets it, he knows wrestling...can you feel it Lance, the mood in the room."

Lance: "Well, you certainly all appear very confident."

DDP: "Good gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd, we're beyond confident man. The Fabulous Freebirds and Terry h...what? Come on, I got you this gig dude! WrestleWar, Pay Per View."

Michael: "Terry man, just go out there and have your match! Out, do your thing and back home brother. You're up next man, good luck."

{Terry nods and leaves the room, Michael grabs DDP.}

Michael: "Like we agreed, nothing to get under his skin. He'll come round, it just takes time." ©

WCW-_Divider.jpg

{Pre-match, we saw Alexandra York come out along with Michael Wallstreet.}

Alexandra: "It's nice to see everyone in the ring and waiting the match starting, but are we not forgetting something?"

Michael: "Terry...Taylor that is. I predict nothing, but a painful defeat for you this evening!"

Alexandra: "Your prediction could well be proved correct Michael, the computer has accepted the input of all the fans intelligent enough to phone the hotline and leave a match selection. So, Mister Taylor and Mister Gordy, this match will be..."

Michael: "Ha, excellent."

Alexandra: "...a falls count anywhere match." (C+)

The Computerised Match of the 90s

Terry Taylor vs Terry Gordy

[Gordy clotheslined Taylor from behind and sent him out of the ring to start things off. Taylor was still struggling to get out of his robe as Gordy grabbed him and slammed him to the floor.

Alexandra York had came round to the announce table.

Alexandra: "We may have more to reveal for Mister Taylor, the York Foundation are a very giving organisation!"

Jim Ross: "Just, what...should you even be ringside during such a match?"

Tony: "Alexandra, you can sit here next to me if you like."

Dusty: "Oh, you big sook!"

Alexandra: "Thank you Tony, you can protect me!"

Jim Ross: "Oh please, we've got these two acting like love struck school kids and Terry Gordy is beating the life out of Terry Taylor."

Gordy had taken Taylor round the other side, chopping him and laying a few punches in as he went. He was even nice enough to finally help Taylor off with his robe, before wrapping it round his head and launching him in to the corner post. Taylor got back up, pushed the robe off his head and took another punch, before being thrown up on to the ramp. Taylor did come back with a punch or two, but tried a slam and his back went on him.

Dusty: "You have to admire his guts, many a man would stay down right now or walk to the back."

Jim Ross: "DDP interjecting himself in to things there, Gordy has grabbed him and walked him back and away. It's not often you see this sort of issue arising."

Tony: "No it's not, then again there aren't many men like Terry Gordy either."

Taylor eventually got back to his feet and both men brawled in to the ring again. DDP was on the apron and again Gordy came across, DDP got down and Gordy went back to working on Taylor in the corner. Another clothesline saw Taylor out on the ramp again, but this time he was able to actually small package Gordy as he reached down and got a two count. Taylor got a few boots in, then went for a sleeper.

Dusty: "I do not believe my eyes here Jim Ross. Am I seeing Terry Taylor beating Terry Gordy?"

Jim Ross: "Who knows, I don't know that I've ever seen Terry Gordy submit. It's certainly looking close, oh noooooooo..."

Taylor was now laid out on the ramp, Gordy having stood up and just fallen backwards to break the hold. As both men recovered, DDP emptied a bottle of water over Gordy to revive him. Again, Gordy took Taylor to the ring apron and this time basically slung him through the ropes. Once inside, Gordy dropped three elbows on to Taylor's damaged ribs and then picked him up, Taylor gave one last exhausted slap to not much avail. DDP was again on the apron, but Gordy was focused. He threw Taylor to the ropes and hit a shoulder block, before coming off the ropes again and connecting with a vicious clothesline as he came back. That's when it happened, "Goooooooooooooood Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd" came out of DDP's mouth Gordy turned, he knocked DDP clean off the apron and then went out after him.

Alexandra: "No, what...what is he doing? NO!!!"

Gordy slide DDP in to the ring and cornered him.

Alexandra: "Terry, TERRY...no, no!!!"

Taylor was now alert enough to see this and came in to the corner with a running knee to Gordy's back. As Gordy staggered back, Taylor rolled him up and got the pinfall.]

Winner: Terry Taylor

(C+)

{Post-match, Gordy immediately grabbed Taylor and hit a very rough looking powerbomb. DDP caught Gordy's eye and made a break for it, leaping over the top rope and tripping as he landed. Gordy went after him, but could only pull the jacket off of him as DDP got away. Michael Wallstreet appeared from the crowd, with Alexandra York getting in to the ring.}

Alexandra: "Look Michael, a winner!"

Michael: "He doesn't look very much like a winner to me, haha!"

Alexandra: "He is though, he's won an opportunity hasn't he."

Michael: "Oh yes, he certainly has. Can we have a Referee down here now?" (C+)

NWA North American Heavyweight Championship

Michael Wallstreet © vs Terry Taylor

[Dusty: "What? They can't just make matches."

Tony: "I suppose that by being a NWA champion they can make certain requests."

A very short match saw Michael apply a crossbody submission before Terry Taylor even knew what was going on.]

Winner: Michael Wallstreet

(C-)

{Post-match, Alexandra got in to the ring and placed a sheet of paper next to Terry.}

Alexandra: "Goodbye Mister Taylor, see you sometime later in the year!"

{Michael laughed as they left the ring and went up the ramp. Terry got up after a short spell, picked up the piece of paper, read it and looked very confused.}

Terry: "Hey, what the...?"

Jim Ross: "Okay folks, Terry is evidently taking in whatever is written on that piece of paper. For now though, it's time for us to head back to Ric Flair." (C+)

WCW-_Divider.jpg

{Ric Flair is backstage, flanked by the other Horsemen and Arn Anderson.}

Ric: "Wooooooooooooooooh, WrestleWar 1991...WAR GAMES! I've got goosebumps Stinger, it's almost time. Time for you to pay the price, to look your future in the face! I'm still, STILL, not going to reveal a thing to anyone in the arena, watching at home or especially to Jim Herd. The cage is ready, both rings are set, it's time to see if you can walk the walk! Who knows, maybe you will end up getting yourself a NWA World Heavyweight title shot and be the main man ONCE AGAIN! Ha...or on the other hand, tell him Arn!"

Arn: "I don't know all the intricacies of what Ric has been planning since The Omni. But Sting, it doesn't matter. No matter the plans, no matter what your future may have in store...the here and now is standing right here. The greatest group of professional wrestlers...WRESTLERS...that you will find anywhere today. So, what is in the other hand...simple, it's brutality Sting. That brutality will see this team be victorious, no question whatesoever."

Larry: "You know, I talk about the past so often that I'm sure some of you are stupid enough to believe I can't see what's right ahead of me. Steiner's, you may both be great specimens and no doubt Alfred Hayes is very...ha...very impressed by you. To me, you're both just another pair of meatballs who think they're wrestlers. Well, tonight we'll see just who the best really are."

Ric: "Wooooooooooooooooooooooh!" (B-)

Match #6

The Royal Family vs The Fantastics

[These two teams had met previously on Saturday Night and put on a great display that actually went across both rings. Rip Morgan was the better of the two Royal Family team members, though the experience of The Fantastics shone through and they took the win via Tommy Rogers pinning Jack Victory.]

Winner: The Fantastics

WCW-_Divider.jpg

{We went backstage to Sting and his team, along with Steve Williams. Scott Steiner is pacing back and forwards, with Rick tying to cool him down and Brian Pillman looks desperate to get on the microphone.}

Sting: "Ric, you are right...it is time. Time for me to end this insanity once and for all. The face of wrestling will change forever, that's a very bold prediction Ric. All I know, is that things around here will certainly never be the same again for anyone going in to the War Games match. Now, looking at the men either side of me I have to say..."

Brian: "Flair, Horsemen, Zbyszko...I hate your stinking guts! You've got the entrance advantage and that's my fault, but you guys had Dan Spivey take me on a little trip didn't you. Acting innocent, saying you had nothing to do with it...that's total crap!"

Sting: "Brian, Brian, calm down man. You'll get your shot tonight, we'll all get our hands on them tonight."

Scott: "Larry, who the hell do you think you're calling meatballs?"

Rick: "Yeah, we're gonna stretch you like spaghetti!"

Scott: "I'm just going to break your neck, see if I can live off that for the next decade!" (B-)

NWA World Television Championship

Bobby Eaton © vs Brad Armstrong

[Armstrong was lucky to escape injury at the hands of Stan Hansen and had managed to regain his focus for this match. Brad and Bobby had, of course already met for the title on Main Event in January. That match was a top 20 match for the year to date and this match was no different.

Brad looked to employ a flying style initially, but missed with a dropkick and Bobby quickly took advantage with some leg based submission work.

Jim Ross: "Are we seeing a colder Bobby Eaton here now do you think?"

Tony: "Certainly a slight shift ever since defeating Tom Zenk."

Dusty: "You know, you sometimes need to take the fans and even your opponent out of the equation. Just wrestle your match, no matter who you're in there with."

Both men worked a grounded style for the next few minutes...nothing special, just basics. Brad did connect with a dropkick as Eaton came back from the ropes, but Eaton rolled to the outside and Brad made the mistake of going outside.

Dusty: "See, right here, I know he's keen to get the victory. But, nothing good ever came of being on the outside."

Armstrong was pulled in to the guardrails then run in to the ring apron as Eaton got back up. From here it was a pretty simple case of Eaton rolling Armstrong in to the ring, hitting a suplex then going up top for the legdrop.]

Winner: Bobby Eaton

{Pre-match, Paul E and Rick Rude are making their entrance. Brad Armstrong is still making his way back, Paul E stops.}

Paul: "Hey, hey Rick...look at this! Do you think he's on Missy's list?"

Rick: "Oh, I hope so."

Paul: "Hey Brad, he hopes you're on Missy's list. Lord knows, you're not on the A list. Get back there, freak!"

{Brad just waves him off as Paul and Rick walk on down and in to the ring.}

Paul: "So, Missy has someone coming in and wasn't able to...get it done...on time. First time you'll ever have heard that. Anyway, Rick Rude is here and he is going to...actually, no, this is just a work out. You don't deserve the the full show, Rick just give me the robe. This lot don't want their weekend ruined by looking at you and feeling inferior. You know what, keep it on...we'll not be out here long." ©

Wrestle-_War-_Rv_E.jpg

Match #8

Rick Rude vs El Gigante

[Jim Ross: "This is absolutely ridiculous, Paul E has just brought things to an all time low now."

Tony: "What a diplay of utter disrespect from Rick Rude too, you know he could just remove the robe."

Dusty: "Maybe the mystique has been lost from El Gigante's err presence if you will."

Tony: "That loss to Moondog Rex back in January maybe being the start of that."

There wasn't much action at the start, with Rick circling El Gigante and smirking. He lay up across the top turnbuckle and shooed El Gigante away, the Referee ordering him down as Paul laughed on the ring apron.

Jim Ross: "Paul...will you get down from there, damnit this is suppose to be a wrestling match."

Dusty: "Disrespectful, it's the only word for it."

Finally, they lock up. Rick slips out, slaps El Gigante and Paul distracts the Referee. Low blow and Rick takes off his robe, wrapping it round the head of El Gigante and strangling him. The Referee notices immediately and calls for the bell. Paul has dropped down to the floor.

Paul: "See that, huh?"

Jim Ross: "Paul, your phone's ringing. Don't you think you should...oh, Lord..."

Paul: "No, I'll leave it...ooooh..."

Rick has El Gigante draped over the top rope, he moves to the next ring and drags him over both sets of top rope and then hits a messy looking Rude Awakening.

Dusty: "I'm...I'm lost for words."]

Winner: El Gigante by disqualification

(D)

{Post-match, Paul and Rick leave the ring and begin walking up the ramp. Paul stops to speak to the camera as the WCW medical team come down.}

Paul: "MISSY, do you see that? Do you? That is what happens when you mess me around, it's what happens when you piss Rick Rude off. Hell, it's what's happened to every wrestler who has been near you in 1991. IT STOPS NOW!!! Get your...

{Rick is pointing at Paul's phone.}

Rick: "It's ringing again!"

Paul: "...man and...damnit, we're live on Pay Per View. Can't you people, whomever is phoning, see I'm live, this isn't a 1-900 hotline...oh for the..."

{Paul answers the phone.}

Paul: "YES, WHAT? Who the...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah..."

{Paul drops the phone and then scrambles to pick it back up, he's looking very worried as he continues the call.}

Paul: "H...he...hello! No, yes...sorry, well this is a live Pay Per...how are you? Okay, no...you're absolutely right...we have left him alone. No, NO, we don't want any...THIS SATURDAY? You'll have no trouble from us, I...we...hope his injuries aren't too serious. Thank you, goodbye."

{Paul composes himself and turns to Rick.}

Paul: "We need to leave, right now!" (C+)

Dusty: "Folks, as concerned as we are about El Gigante...we have a situation to get back to..."

{We are backstage, Brian Pillman is trying to get past Ole Anderson and Grizzly Smith.}

Brian: "Come on, I didn't take myself off on a long drive...it was Spivey!"

Ole: "Brian, we're looking in to it. You're not going anywhere, you interfere in the match and you'll be suspended. Now, go cool off!" (C+)

NWA United States Championship

Lex Luger © vs Dan Spivey

[The initial phase of this match was the usual back and forward as both men tried to gain and advantage. Neither Lex, nor Dan, managed to get any sort of real advantage and indeed both men ended up laid out after a clothesline attempt by both men.

Jim Ross: "Things are finely poised here folks and..."

Tony: "He's evidently found a way out."

Brian Pillman is shown climbing up on to the ramp, as WCW officials along with Ole and Grizzly follow close behind.

Dusty: "Why doesn't he just concentrate on War Games baby? Focus Brian!"

Tony: "Sometimes you just can't see clearly, this is evidently one of those times."

Spivey has risen first and connects with a DDT on a kneeling Luger. He covers, but the Referee is distracted and counts a late two. Spivey looks up and sees Pillman halfway up the ramp. The Referee tries to stop Spivey, then leaves the ring and Luger is able to quickly connect with a clubbing blow to Spivey's back. He drags him to the corner and slams Spivey's head in to the turnbuckle a few times before himself leaving the ring.

Dusty: "Where's Lex going now? It's all going crazy Jim Ross!"

Jim Ross: "It's WrestleWar Dust, it's supposed to get a bit crazy!"

Lex is up talking to Ole, Grizzly and Brian Pillman. Pillman looks to have agreed to leave, but unfortunately just as Spivey runs up the ramp and clotheslines Luger. He picks Luger up and runs him to the ropes, but Lex grabs hold. Pillman throws Spivey towards Luger, who back body drops Spivey in to the ring. Luger gets in the ring, picks up Spivey and hits a press slam that was enough for the win.]

Dusty: "Is that legit? Pillman threw Spivey to Luger!"

Jim Ross: "I suppose we'll find out, though Spivey is leaving the ring at such speed he may find out before we do!"

Winner: Lex Luger

NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship - Ladder Match

The Dynamite Kid © vs Owen Hart

[Dusty: "This should be very interesting, don't you think Jim Ross."

Jim Ross: "Well, I've certainly not seen anything like it. Although, is it as dangerous as a scaffolding match?"

Tony: "That is a very good point. That said, there's no much action on a scaffold."

Dusty: "All the action is, well err, in your stomach shall we say! How is that cable secured Jim Ross?"

Jim Ross: "Attached to the cage I believe Dusty, don't worry the cage isn't going to come down around us."

Dynamite was the first one to go for the ladder, but Owen slid out after recovering from a posting and a fight broke out on the outside.

Tony: "Is there only one ladder?"

Jim Ross: "I'm not part of the WCW ring crew Tony, I just don't have that answer."

The outside fighting continued on, Owen being sent in to the guardrail and then Dynamite being back body dropped in to the crowd. With Dynamite in the crowd, Owen decided to slide the ladder in to the ring although the wrong one. Owen made his way in the ring and picked up the ladder, by which time Dynamite was back at least to the ringside area. Owen was about to slide the ladder across the top ropes when Dynamite connected with a blow from behind. The ladder lay against the ropes as Owen and Dynamite battled in the ring, eventually Dyamite threw Owen to the ropes, dropped down and then was caught with a moonsault as as Owen ran up the ladder and flipped back.

Jim Ross: "He didn't learn that off of Otto Wanz, I'll tell you that right now."

Dusty: "Where do you learn that Jim Ross...just where?"

Owen pushed the ladder over in to the next ring, but turned to see Dynamite tackling him through the ropes and they both awkwardly ended up in the ring alongside the ladder. Both men rose trading blows, Owen went for a suplex and was blocked...

Tony: "They're getting very close to that la..."

...Dynamite suplex Owen and he landed on the ladder, bouncing to the side as one side of the ladder appeared to buckle. Dynamite grabbed Owen and threw him in to the corner, before going in with a running elbow that took to the floor. Dynamite turned to the ladder, picked it up, set it up and went to climb only for the ladder to lurch sideways sending Dynamite to the floor.

Dusty: "Commentators luck everyone, the ladder has broken."

Jim Ross: "Dynamite does not look happy, woah..."

The broken ladder was dumped over the top rope as Dynamite came across to the announce table.

Dynamite: "We need a second ladder, has nobody in the back another ****ing ladder?"

Tony: "It's only just broken, Dynamite."

Dynamite: "Shift your arse!"

Tony: "What?"

Dusty: "Tony, I think you'd better move."

Dynamite cleared the table and managed to get it in the ring, along with a chair. He stomped Owen a few times, to keep him down, then setup the table and got up on it with the chair. He set the chair, stepped on it and realised he couldn't reach the belt. Owen regained his composure, but looked up to see Dynamite tipping the table over and throwing the chair.

Jim Ross: "Folks, I've literally never seen anything like this in all my years in this business. Both competitors appear to actually be discussing how the match should proceed."

Dusty: "Do we not have another ladder back there? Guys, come on baby, we're live on Pay Per View here."

Tony: "It looks like they're shaking hands and no, Owen has slapped Dynamite and gone for a small package."

Dynamite kicked out and kicked Owen in the gut as they both got up. He gave the Referee a signal of one, before clotheslining Owen and going up top.

Tony: "Did that mean one fall?"

Dynamite hit his diving headbutt and covered Owen for the win.

Jim Ross: "Right, now how does he get his belt?"]

Winner: The Dynamite Kid

{We quickly went backstage to Alfred Hayes, Teddy Long and Doom.}

Alfred: "Wow, some amazing action there and what an interesting development with the ladder. I'm here with..."

Teddy: "Give me that microphone Alfred, I don't need anyone holding it for me! Freebirds, seems you've got more on your mind than just these two men and that will be your downfall. Let's get something straight, even on your best day you can't defeat us."

Butch Reed: "Nobody can defeat us, we're one unit! Anyone gets in there, we put them down. Opponents, their friends, their managers or anyone else. Chris Adams learned that, don't make the same mistake Gordy!" (C+)

NWA World Tag Team championship

Doom © vs The Fabulous Freebirds

[The Freebirds came out without DDP, both of them just shrugging their shoulders before coming to the ring. We also had some interesting commentary just before the match started.

Jim Ross: "Folks, you may briefly have seen the same thing we just have."

Dusty: "I don't believe I've just seen someone come down with a ladder to remove Dynamite's belt! It's nonsense like this that I've come back to put an end to. We will see this match again, mark my words. Not only that, WCW will be a promotion that everyone is talking about because of the wrestling."

The match itself began with Jimmy Garvin taking a good pasting and eventually managing to slide to the outside where Michael Hayes rallied the troops so to speak.

Jim Ross: "Well, it can't be that they're missing DDP."

Tony: "Good gawd no!"

Dustin: "Oh Tony, Tony, Tony...not funny, not funny one bit!"

Garvin, still being legal, got back in though both members of Doom tried to enter. This allowed Hayes to pop Simmons with a straight left as Reed was being forced out. Garvin tagged Hayes in as Teddy Long argued with the Referee, allowing Hayes to work Simmons in to the Freebirds corner for double teaming. A few quick tags saw Butch trying to come in again, this only allowed The Freebirds to hit a double team DDT and go for a cover. The Referee turned late, but Butch came racing across the ring to stomp Hayes then knock Garvin to the floor. Butch dragged Simmons to the Doom corner and made a tag, which the Referee had no option other than to allow.

Dusty: "The Referee is having one hell of a time in this one now, don't you think Tony!"

Tony: "Oh, I can speak now can I? Well, both teams are certainly..."

Dusty: "Just you know, don't try and be funny."

Jim Ross: "Dusty, come on now. Tony, you were saying."

Tony: "Just that both teams are certainly no angels. Right now we have both Freebirds complaining to the Referee, with Butch Reed goading Hayes to get in the ring."

Dusty: "It's...wow, did you see that..Chris Adams has just superkicked Ron Simmons in to next week."

Jim Ross: "Folks, with our close up there you have missed that action. We'll look to bring you it, if not tonight then certainly through the week."

Jimmy Garvin was laughing and pointing across, Butch looked round and Hayes entered the ring to clothesline Butch from behind then hit a DDT as a groggy Butch got back up.]

Winner: The Fabulous Freebirds

Jim Ross: "Okay folks, as things settle after that match. Let's take some time to remind all of you what is coming up for WCW."

Tony: "It's going to be three great months of action."

Jim Ross: "Kicking off in March, with the Japan Supershow in conjunction with New Japan Pro Wrestling. Dusty, I know you're excited by that."

Dusty: "I certainly am, we'll have the Supershow and I believe some of our WCW programming will be filmed there also."

Japan_Supershow.jpg

Jim Ross: "Next, we have April and a month full of WCW and NWA action with the Heritage and Tradition Tour. That, we believe, ends with a major show at the Omni. No word on whether that's a Pay Per View or televised special."

Tony: "A huge undertaking everyone and we hope you'll get out to see some fine WCW cards."

Dusty: "New Zealand baby, exciting times to be alive over there."

Jim Ross: "Then, in May, a first for WCW with our first ever Superbrawl!"

Dusty Rhodes: "It's going to be huge Jim Ross, one to remember for all time."

THE WAR GAMES MATCH

Sting, Brian Pillman & The Steiners vs Ric Flair, Barry Windham, Sid Vicious & Larry Zbyszko

[Jim Herd came down to ringside, there was a bit of discussion that we didn't catch too much of until the camera zoomed in.

Jim Ross: "Herd getting some instructions across or something here folks."

Dusty: "We do have El Gigante, Arn Anderson and Steve Williams at ringside. A lot of combustible elements, a lot of ahhhh potential distractions."

Tony: "For both teams Dusty!"

Dusty: "Well, yes, in War Games both teams could certainly look to get any sort of advantage. It's War Games baby, careers can end in there."

Jim Ross: "I believe we can get a bit closer in now, our cameraman being able to make his way in. Let's see what we can pick up."

Arn: "So, he's only here for the entrances. He's not near the cage, not touching anyone...you hear that, huh?"

Jim Herd: "That's correct, indeed El Gigante if you could take up your position. You'll see that he's even behind the barrier there."

El Gigante was struggling a little with his neck after his match with Rick Rude, but did make his way to his seat and the table with the ring bell and microphone.

Jim Herd: "Now Ric, we are all aware of the rules pertaining to Sting in that if he wins then he gets a shot at your NWA World Heavyweight Title. But, what do you get if you win?"

Ric: "Ha, you would love to know that wouldn't you! Sting here knows exactly..."

Sting: "RIC, Jim...there's no need to discuss that just now. I'd rather we just focus on the match."

Arn: "You hear that Williams? Focus on the match and know your damned place. Follow those instructions and we won't need to come put your lights out, if you know what I mean!"

Jim Herd: "Arn, Steve...both of you will ensure you aren't causing difficulties out here. Now, all I need to know is who will start."

Ric: "Barry will start for us, wooooooooooooooooooooooh come on give them hell Barry...HELL!"

Sting: "Rick Steiner will be our firs..."

Brian Pillman: "What...come on Sting, let me in first. Please!"

Sting: "Brian, you're not thinking straight. Wait and let Rick start us off, come on let's get round our side."

Jim Herd: "Okay, so we're almost good to go!"

Jim Ross: "Wow, so it's Rick Steiner and Barry Windham to start off in the battleground."

Dusty: "It's an appropriate term, battleground...it's a war in there, you go in team mates and come out brothers. Brothers, because you've bled, scratched and clawed for each other like only brothers would do. The Horsemen already have that bond, let's see if it helps them or not!"

Tony: "I don't even feel safe sitting outside, it certainly is something to behold. At least Sting's team is on our side."

Initial Phase:

Barry and Rick went back and forward, Barry taking the first throw in to the cage. Rick looked like he knew he had to put Barry down early, but things didn't work that way and both men pretty much worked each corner of the ring that Sting's team would enter in to. There was a double clothesline that saw both men drop to a knee, then Windham raked Rick's eyes and hit a quick DDT just as the count started.

The count was led by El Gigante, so it was a bit slower than usual. As a result, Rick had recovered enough to grab Windham and apply a front facelock as both men knelt prior to Ric Flair coming in.

Phase Two:

Arn Anderson was livid with El Gigante, Ric raced across and basically just booted Rick Steiner in the back of the head. As Windham lay out cold, Rick continued to stomp and we saw Arn over at El Gigante.

Arn: "Listen, you bloody goof, if you can't count like a regular person and not some simple..."

El Gigante grabbed Arn, but Arn quickly poked him in the throat and then pulled him down throat first in to the guardrail. Arn turned to see Brian Pillman jumping from the ramp then connecting with a dropkick. Sting got involved, as did Steve Williams and it ended with Pillman round just waiting to get in as Arn was pushed back in to the guardrail by Williams.

In the ring, Rick had never really recovered and Ric was laying in some chops and punches in the corner as the count started again...this time by Tony Schiavone.

Phase Three:

Brian Pillman pushed past Scott Steiner and entered the cage. He raced across the ring and hit a flying bodyblock that sent him and Ric over and in to the next ring eventually. Windham stirred and moved across to choke out Rick Steiner, then threw him in to the cage wall...clotheslining him as he rebounded.

On the outside, Arn was now back to one knee and called Larry across, he went back and spoke to Sid who started shaking the cage door. Jim Herd came round, with Arn pointing across at Williams...

Dusty: "There's almost as much action outside as inside the cage structure, this is crazy...just crazy!"

Tony: "Arn certainly not happy, Steve Williams now coming across also."

Jim Ross: "Folks, there's far too much for us to cover all at once here. We can't even hear what's going on with Jim Herd."

Dusty: "I can lip read a little though, you do not want to know what Arn Anderson just called Steve Williams."

Ric was down and begging Pillman as the count started and ended again. At the same time, Williams was pushed back in to Jim Herd by Arn...Arn actually looked concerned as he paused, but then signalled to Larry."

Phase Four:

Larry and Sid both entered the ring, Larry headed across to knock Rick Steiner off of Barry Windham. Sid immediately hit Pillman with a big boot then tossed him across the ring before checking on Ric. Over the other side, Scott and Sting pushed the Referee away and entered the cage thus kicking off The Match Beyond a lot quicker than it should have and making this the final phase.

Tony: "Everyone is in now, Arn and Steve are standing over Jim Herd and blaming each other."

Jim Ross: "Arn could surely only have seen Steve Williams ahead of him, no way he knew Jim Herd was right there."

Dusty: "Things are getting tasty inside the ring now, so let's get back to that."

Scott and Rick were both working on Zbyszko, who hadn't quite realised just how out of things Barry Windham was. Rick had Larry held down as Scott dropped an elbow across his neck, the camera zoomed right in...

Larry: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, aaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhhh...gaaaaaaaaaaaah..."

Scott: "Who's a meatball now, huh?"

...then we moved across to an in-ring shot of Sting trading chops with Ric Flair. Sid used Pillman as a human dart twice, the second time we saw the camera come right in and blood was starting to pour from Pillman's wound. Outside, Ole Anderson was now down with Arn and Steve Williams stepping back. Jim Herd was up, but appeared to have asked for a chair instead of leaving.

Jim Ross: "I guess he wants to see this to its conclusion, first hand."

Dusty: "Who can blame him baby, it's been one thing after another since Starrcade."

Windham was back to his feet and grabbed Scott Steiner, but that didn't last long as Scott ducked a punch and executed a german suplex upon Windham. Larry did turn and managed to catch Rick with a thumb to the eye then pulled him in to the cage. He got up to his feet, walked right up to Scott Steiner and slapped him in the face...

Tony: "Why on earth would anyone do that?"

Jim Ross: "He's poking him in the chest now, no Larry no!"

Dusty: "Concentrate on what's in front of you Larry, it's not a time to teach anyone."

Sting had broken off from battling with Ric and had splashed Sid in to the corner, before running to the opposite corner and splashing him again. We just caught Zbyszko's landing as Steiner pushed him backwards, Larry sat there and spat up at Scott.

Tony: "There's your class and integrity right there Larry, destroyed in a split second."

Jim Ross: "Disgusting, absolutely disgusting."

Scott ran at Larry and Larry kicked out at Scott's leg, then got up and hit the deepest low blow you may ever see. The camera zoomed in again at this point, Larry kicking over a kneeling Scott...

Larry: "MEATBALL...nothing between your ears Scott, absolutly nothing."

...then booting going over and throwing Rick shoulder first in to a corner before checking on Barry Windham.

Tony: "So, we have Sting on his feet now along with Barry and Larry."

Dusty: "Pillman has just gotten to his feet also, blood still pouring from that wound."

Pillman was about to help Sting, but noticed Larry and Barry heading for Scott Steiner. A springboard body press soon stopped that, with Ric taking out Sting's knee and Sid grabbing him as he staggered forward. Sid attempted a powerbomb, but Sting had ahold of his leg. Pillman again came out of nowhere, hitting Sid with a dropkick and landing awkwardly on his shoulder. From nowhere, Steve Williams started shaking the cage to distract Ric Flair. Ric turned round and kicked at the cage, Williams somehow lept up and clung to the ring. Ric pushed him back and turned in to a hobbling Sting hitting a splash in to the corner. A punch took Flair down and Sting applied the scorpion deathlock. Ric had nowhere to go and..."

Tony: "Pillman has Sid held down."

Jim Ross: "Both Steiners now have Zbyszko and Windham in submission holds also, this could be it."

Dusty: "Lock it in Stinger, hold it in."

Ric was reaching, but nothing was coming. Windham did get free, but Scott Steiner let go of Zbyszko long enough to execute a belly to belly on suplex on Windham. The camera went in tight on Ric...

Ric: "Noooooooooo, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, God, noooooooooooooo...Sid...Barry...ARN, ARN...God...nooooooooo..."

...then you could swear you saw a smile as he tapped out.

Dusty: "Wow, he's done it! Sting's team wins the War Games match."

Tony: "Jim Ross, did we just see Ric Flair smile?"

Jim Ross: "Why would he smile? No, no, I don't think so...at least, well I don't honestly know."]

Winners: Sting, Barry Pillman & The Steiners

(B-)

{Post-match, Sting's team are congratulating him as Steve Williams joins in. Ric is standing watching on as his team make their way over. Arn gets in and edges past Sting's team. Next in is Jim Herd.}

Dusty: "Oh, the cage is on it's way back up baby. Everyone take your seats again, we may just find out exactly what has been going on."

Jim Ross: "We're running out of time folks, we have only minutes left."

Jim Herd: "Okay everyone, I'll need to speak as the cage is lifting. Sting, if you'd like to come to the centre of this ring and the same for you Ric."

Tony: "This could be huge folks, Sting and Ric Flair are nose to nose almost."

Jim Herd: "Sting, congratulations on the win and gaining a NWA World Heavyweight title shot. Ric, do you have anything to say?"

Ric: "Ha, wooooooooooooooooooooooooooh...do I have anything to say? I'd like to hear the winner speaking first...no, no, Arn, it's okay...just you guys hang back. Come on Sting, let's hear your big celebration speech."

Sting: "Okay, well I'm glad that all the madness of the last few months is over and done with. Evidently, I'm looking forward to taking Ric on for his Championship belt."

Ric: "Maybe!"

Jim Herd: "Ric, it's in the contract."

Sting: "Maybe? Ric, I do have the title shot."

Ric: "Yeah...not that bit!"

Jim Ross: "Folks, we're hearing our Pay Per View carrier is going to continue with us."

Sting: "So...wait...you don't mean the madness."

Ric: "Yeah, maybe it's not over!"

Sting: "Ric, that's...we had a deal!"

Ric: "Where's the piece of paper? No, no, no...I think it's time to fill everyone in."

{Additional WCW officials are in keeping both teams apart.}

Ric: "Woooooooooooh, yeah, time to reveal the big secret. What happened at The Omni, why are the Referees no to disqualify me, why was Jim Herd to back off, why did I tell the Horsemen to go easy on you?"

Sting: "RIC!!!"

Ric: "Whoooooooo...iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis...THE REAL BLACK SCORPION???"

Jim Herd: "Ric, you can't be serious!"

Ric: "Shut up Herd, this is nothing to do with you. Huh, Sting...is it time?"

Sting: "Ric...please...not again!"

{The other two teams are pretty much engrossed now, Arn standing behind Ric as always and Steve Williams staring down Ric's team from next to Sting.}

Ric: "What are scorpions known for? They're dangerous right, deadly...they can kill you. They, ha, they bring death to those around them. NOW...who do you think would be an expert at death?"

{Sting, gulps, turns and almost has his head ripped off by "Dr Death" Steve Williams. Larry, Sid and Barry run past Ric and take out Pillman and both Steiners. Sting is thrown in to a corner as Pillman and The Steiners are kicked out of the ring.}

Jim Ross: "Folks, as I look either side of me I see only shock on the faces of my colleagues and sadly we are out of time." (B-)

I really like the graphics you used on this show, the ramp with the participants and the small blurb of what the match consisted of was a really neat touch. So the story is that Flair knew who the Black Scorpion was and that's why there was controversy at the Omni? I dig the idea of the Scorpion being referenced again, as it was very anticlimatic how it ended at Starrcade 90. But all in all, I think the best part of the show was Jim Herd getting knocked on his duff. That could happen more often and I would be totally okay with it.

I'm sure you have a lot on your mind."</p><p> </p><p> Scott: "A lot did happen and damned right there's a lot on my mind. We should be concentrating on our tag team careers, but instead we have people like Larry Zbyszko making fun of us and then the attacks at the end of WrestleWar. Now, let's talk about WrestleWar shall we. A glorious night for The Four Horsemen and myself, wouldn't you agree."</p><p> </p><p> Scott: "I wouldn't a..."</p><p> </p><p> Larry: "Nobody asked you meatball! I'm talking to my former broadcast colleague Tony, the audience and the millions of people who'll be glued to my every word on television. When I'm talking to you, you'll know. You'll know, because I'll use as few syllables as possible in order to retain your attention. You know, I'm surprised your voice isn't a little high right now. Maybe we should be calling you no balls. Right, where was I...oh yeah...a glorious night..."</p><p> </p><p> <strong>{Scott pushes Rick aside and gets in Larry's face.}</strong></p><p> </p><p> Scott: "No balls? I'll rip...damnit! We were in the winning team at WrestleWar Zbyszko, you proved absolutely nothing. No amount of smart talking will change that."</p><p> </p><p> Larry: "That it? Get all angry, holding your tongue and backing off? You know, there was a time when wrestlers settled their issues in the ring. How about, next week, you two face myself and Sid?"</p><p> </p><p> Scott: "Next week?"</p><p> </p><p> Larry: "Well, you know, I wouldn't want you claiming you were taken by surprise or anything like you were when you lost your tag belts."</p><p> </p><p> Rick: "Fine, we'll see you next week. Come on Scott."</p><p> </p><p> Scott: "Next week...fair enough."</p><p> </p><p> <strong>{The Steiners walk away from the podium.}</strong></p><p> </p><p> Tony: "I think you maybe got a bit lucky Larry."</p><p> </p><p> Larry: "There's nothing lucky about it Tony, you'll see that next week. Back to the here and now though. A glorious night, as I've mentioned, and I believe nobody has seen Sting since. So not only did Ric reveal the real Black Scorpion, he also rid WCW of that face painted fraud. Maybe now WCW can make some progress, progress that will be assisted ten fold when I defeat Lex Luger for his United States title belt."</p><p> </p><p> Tony: "Do you have a date for that match?"</p><p> </p><p> Larry: "I'm hoping Japan Tony. You know, Stan Hansen is due a re-match though he deems his match with Vader as more important. So, firstly Stan I'm not looking to start an issue with you and secondly I've highlighted that to the WCW Championship Committee."</p><p> </p><p> Tony: "Well, good luck with that Larry. Dustin finds Norman's chair and calls Mark over, but we don't see anything else as both men are attacked. The picture changes, Dustin and Mark are dumped outside. As they regain their senses, Mark notices an Indian headdress feather and then another. They follow the trail to a shallow grave, that someone has evidently clawed their way out of. <strong>©</strong></p><p> </p><p> Jim Ross asks Paul if he's happy, Paul states he thinks they're now even and yes he is...happy that more idiots are walking straight in to certain destruction, it'll save Rick a lot of effort. <strong>(C+)</strong></p><p> </p><p> Missy came out with her man, who was wearing a mask. </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Monthly NWA Press Conference</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>{The press room was fairly quiet as Jim Herd and Ted Turner made their way in along with Ole Anderson, the usual mild applause rang out as all three men were in.}</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Ted: "Hello again everyone, ahhh, I'm not going to hold things up here. There's some changes coming and some exciting events coming up over the, ahhh, next few months. I'd like to add that, ahhh, I'm very proud to be involved in bringing you some amazing wrestling action. I see there are more of you here, we're obviously hitting the right buttons. Ole and Jim are here, so let us just get right to it..."</p><p> </p><p>

Jim: "Thank you Ted and hello again to all of you here. I see some new faces, glad to have you here. Now, let's get to the NWA news first of all. Ole, if you'd like to handle this part."</p><p> </p><p>

Ole: "Can I first ask who this guy is in the front. You've already yawned twice and you've written a lot considering nothing has happened."</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "Long flight, I'm just..."</p><p> </p><p>

Ole: "Long flight my ass son! We had you all in town yesterday..."</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>{Ole began to head down from the table.}</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Jim: "Ole, where are you..."</p><p> </p><p>

Ted: "Ahhhaaaa, sorry everyone. Ole's obviously..."</p><p> </p><p>

Ole: "Trying to protect the business Ted, if that's not too much of a problem."</p><p> </p><p>

Ted: "Ha ha, no no, on you go. Everyone here knows their credentials are a privilege and can be...Ole...come on."</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>{Ole has by now grabbed the notepad from the reporter in the front row.}</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Ole: "It's okay, everyone calm down. I'm just going to check what this...BASTARD! You think this is funny? The circus of WCW's fakery began where their latest shows ended. Pretending that there was no replacement ladder was replaced by the sheer lunacy that this was a real press conference. The three...AHERM...tired looking puppet masters. Right, I've read enough...get the **** out of here! Who do you work for anyway?"</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "The Sun!"</p><p> </p><p>

Ole: "I've read some of your stuff, just before I flushed it...go on, get out! Away and report on Big Daddy versus some stick insect."</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>{A buzz rings round the room as The Sun reporter is ejected from the room.}</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Ted: "Ha ha, you certainly get your money's worth at these things don't you. Well, ahhh, I think we're back and settled again so Ole if you could."</p><p> </p><p>

Ole: "Sorry everyone, let's move on. The NWA are proud to announce another territory promotion as we bring <strong>NWA Central States</strong> in to join Mid-Atlantic and Southwest as affiliate companies. NWA Central States will host the NWA Central States Heavyweight and Tag Team titles, with it being my pleasure to introduce the man who will run that company."</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>{Ole looks to the entrance door, it swings open and in walks Tully Blanchard. Ole goes to meet Tully as Jim Herd continues.}</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Jim: "The history and tradition of the NWA is something we're all here to celebrate. This is just another example of how important we feel it is. Tully is now ready, so we'll take some questions."</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "Tully, welcome back to the NWA."</p><p> </p><p>

Tully: "Thank you, it's good to be back."</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "How did all of this come about?"</p><p> </p><p>

Tully: "The promotion or me being hired?"</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "You being hired."</p><p> </p><p>

Tully: "Well, I don't know how much to say about why I was...actually, never mind. I was in town for discussions around something else, I believe we'll all hear more about that in due course. As is the norm in wrestling it took a turn, plans changed, other people got involved and I felt nothing would be happening at that time."</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "So, yesterday?"</p><p> </p><p>

Tully: "No, no, sorry. It was in Kansas during the recent television tapings etc. I believe the NWA just wanted a different direction for the...can I talk about this Ole?"</p><p> </p><p>

Ole: "Financial agreements were taking time, so we progressed one affiliate and the other is still in the works."</p><p> </p><p>

Tully: "Right, okay. So, I was in the building and I...bumped in to...Ole and the offer was made. I've spent time working for Bob Geigel in the past, had some brutal matches in the territory and I'm very happy to be involved. It's a great area, good wrestling fans."</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "Do you have any shows planned?"</p><p> </p><p>

Tully: "We'll take a month to put the dressing room together and go from there. I'll be active, but I'm not going to be controlling anything on the shows."</p><p> </p><p>

Voice: "Oh right, can we ask who is helping you? Obviously Jim has Bob Armstrong."</p><p> </p><p>

Tully: "I'll be assisted by Ox Baker, I think we can expect some hard hitting action."</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>{The above is the only portion of the press conference that I'll cover here.}</strong></p>
