Have to say I have a sweet spot in my heart for BOLA 2016. I like your booking thus far and we will have to see how Night 2 turns out before making any major predictions. A PWG diary could be a bit difficult, so hopefully you find ways to keep it interesting for yourself. The presentation you have so far is outstanding. Do you plan on taking things to a different level with PWG? Or do you forsee yourself attempting to keep things as PWG as possible and never move out of Reseda, CA, because the roster is there to do whatever the hell you want as far as I see.

I don't see myself moving away from that but you can never say never. My main goal right now is pushing different people while keeping things interesting for both myself and the readers.

TOMMY END DEF. PENTAGON JR.

After yesterday's exciting start to the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, things took a turn for the dark in tonight's opening contest. "The Dutch Destroyer" Tommy End took on "Cero Miedo" Pentagon Jr. in a battle of the dark arts. Pentagon's hard-hitting lucha style was a beautiful contrast to End's satanic strong style. The action went back and forth as the Reseda faithful lost their minds for the contest. Only one could advance to the next round, that being Tommy End. With a well-placed High Knee out of nowhere, End managed to get the pin over Pentagon at 14:16! While Tommy End secured his place in the next round, Pentagon Jr. won the hearts of the Guerrilla fans in his return to the American Legion Hall.

2016 BOLA FIRST ROUND MATCH

ZACK SABRE JR. DEF. EXTREME TIGER

"Gato Suicida" Extreme Tiger has been a mainstay on the Mexican independent scene for a while now but he made his way up north to make his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla debut. Problem is that his debut was against the current reigning and defending PWG World Champion, Zack Sabre Jr. Zack was taken aback by the TNA Wrestling star's agility and quickness from the beginning of the bout, but the intelligent champion quickly brought the match to the mat. In his wheelhouse, Zack eventually put the 18-year veteran away with the Jim Breaks Armbar at 11:50 to advance in the 2016 BOLA tournament.

2016 BOLA FIRST ROUND MATCH

KYLE O'REILLY DEF. ADAM COLE

Good friends, better enemies! The Guerrilla gang at ringside was hot for this one right off the bat as two previous Battle of Los Angeles winners went at it in a hard-hitting affair. The former members of Future Shock knew the importance of a win to advance to the next stage of the tournament and their wrestling aggression displayed just that. The action went back and forth but the sudden interference from The Young Bucks nearly gave Adam Cole the victory. Their aid for Adam was thwarted by the trio of Bobby Fish, Trent?, and Chuck Taylor! Amidst all the pyro and ballyhoo in the ring, Adam Cole yelled at referee Rick Knox to disqualify KOR but instead got a Superkick for his troubles from the "Man in Stripes". With Cole dazed, he walked right into an O'Reilly Cross Armbreaker that called for the finish of the match at 16:37 - Kyle O'Reilly advancing in the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles tournament.

2016 BOLA FIRST ROUND MATCH

FENIX DEF. KAMAITACHI

Somebody call a contracting company, the roof of the American Legion Hall's roof was blown off entirely! These two insane high-flyers put their bodies on the line in a way that has NEVER been seen in Reseda. Both Fénix and Kamaitachi took the air from the word "go!" and never looked back, both wanting to etch their name in history by advancing in this year's BOLA. Excalbur yelled with excitement as Kamaitachi somehow managed to kick out of a Spanish Fly and fight back to nearly put "The Man Of A Thousand Lives" down with a Canadian Destroyer. But the action soon ended as Fénix fought back and took the momentum from "The Dream Catcher" in order to connect with a Springboard Ace Crusher at 13:26 to win the contest! Fénix advances to the second round of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles, but Kamaitachi may have become a favourite of Reseda.

2016 BOLA FIRST ROUND MATCH

WILL OSPREAY DEF. DREW GALLOWAY

With both the weight and the height advantage, Drew Galloway walked into this match with an ego but Will Ospreay remained as calm and collected as ever against the adversity. Galloway was hard-hitting as one would expect and provided a good base as Will Ospreay flew around the ring like a madman. Things nearly went south for "The Aerial Assassin" when Galloway planted him with a huge boot as Will springboarded into the ring! Somehow Ospreay managed to kickout and fight back just enough that Galloway was shook from a Handspring Enzuigiri that allowed Ospreay to capitalize and connect with the 630° Splash for the upset win at 16:08!

2016 BOLA FIRST ROUND MATCH

KOTA IBUSHI DEF. MATT SYDAL

How in the world do you follow up that combination of Fenix/Kamaitachi and Galloway/Ospreay matches? You send out Kota Ibushi and Matt Sydal! Coming out to a hero's welcome, Kota Ibushi made his Guerrilla singles debut and was clearly the favourite of the Reseda faithful in this bout. The action was insane from the opening bell as Matt Sydal used his PWG experience for the edge over the "The Golden☆Star". While Sydal fought with all his might, Kota Ibushi managed to sway the momentum back to his favour much to the delight of the fans. After Sydal missed a dropkick in the corner, Ibushi planted him with a Golden Star Bomb in the middle of the ring at 16:32 to advance to the next round of the tournament!

PWG TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

BEST FRIENDS DEF. THE YOUNG BUCKS

In non-tournament action, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson looked to make defence number six of their PWG Tag Team Championships against the formidable duo of Chuck Taylor and Trent?! The Reseda crowd was hot as hell for the Best Friends as they came out like a ball on fire against their recent champion rivals. The Young Bucks, as they always do, put on a show and used their tag experience to dazzle and destroy their opponents. But never count out the "Modern Day 3 Count", as Taylor and Trent? fought back with all their might even if it meant being battered in the head with chairs. Much like the Friends' match at THIRTEEN, thumbtacks came into play with The Bucks' looking to make Chuck a human pincushion. As they signaled for More Bang For Your Buck, Trent?, however, called for them to put Taylor down and PUT HIM through the thumbtacks! Sacrificing himself for his Best Friend, Trent? found himself pierced by thumbtacks as he wailed out loud... but this allowed Chuck Taylor just enough time to throw Matt Jackson out of the ring and connect with the Awful Waffle on Nick in the middle of the ring to get the one-two-three at 20:41! Chuck Taylor and Trent? are the new PWG Tag Team Champions! The Reseda faithful rose to their feet as the Best Friends stood tall to close night two of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles weekend!

My Take: Cody Rhodes wins purely because he's the biggest name coming into this and it just makes sense for PWG to have him go over here to draw attention to their product.

KYLE O'REILLY DEF. FENIX

The final stage of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles began with this hard-hitting affair between two of the best wrestlers in the world. Kyle O'Reilly, a former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla BOLA Winner, used his experience advantage to outsmart Fenix with some quick submission work. The masked luchador, of course, flew all over the place but a missed springboard allowed KOR to lock in an Ankle Lock at 11:42 to advance to the next round.

2016 BOLA SECOND ROUND MATCH

ZACK SABRE JR. DEF. JEFF COBB

Jeff Cobb had the opportunity of a lifetime in this bout, as he could have eliminated the current PWG World Champion from the tournament. Don't doubt Zack Sabre Jr., however, as he knew he was in for a fight against a fellow world class grappler. Cobb had the power advantage, but Zack managed to use his smaller frame to escape Jeff's clutches throughout the match. In the end, the Champion managed to lock in a Jim Breaks Armbar at 9:40 to punch his ticket to the Semi-Final round of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles.

2016 BOLA SECOND ROUND MATCH

WILL OSPREAY DEF. CODY RHODES

Cody Rhodes has, with good reason, been a favourite to win this year's Battle of Los Angeles, but Will Ospreay was ready to prove that he is ready to be elevated to the next level. Cody was a few steps ahead of the young Ospreay in the ring due to the experience edge, but Cody could not match Will's high-flying abilities. It looked as if Rhodes had the match won with a Cross Rhodes, but Ospreay somehow managed to get his shoulder up at 2.9 much to the surprise of the Guerrilla gang at ringside! Ospreay managed to fight back and connect with his patented 630° Splash at 14:04 to score what could possibly be the upset of the tournament!

2016 BOLA SECOND ROUND MATCH

MARK HASKINS DEF. BOBBY FISH

The Ring of Honor Television Champion came into this match with the UK's Mark Haskins a bit too cocky. Haskins, a favourite over in PROGRESS Wrestling, was all business as he entered the ring and immediately brought the fight to the older Bobby Fish. Hard-hitting strikes were exchanged by both men, but Fish was unable to end the bout after a devastating knee to the head. Haskins, fighting from the bottom, swayed momentum his way and managed to put Bobby Fish away at 12:41 with the Cradle To The Grave for the victory and to advance to the semi-finals of this year's Battle of Los Angeles!

KOTA IBUSHI DEF. TOMMY END

The dream match you didn't know you wanted finally happens in Reseda's Legion Hall! This international clash between Japan's Kota Ibushi and Amsterdam's Tommy End proved the absolute toughness of both men. With both competitors having a kickboxing background, the kicks were plentiful, the echoes were heard around the building, and the red chests were a badge of honour. The versatility of the two entrants was on display, as they both took to the air during the match in an effort to put the other away. In the end, however, it was Kota Ibushi who landed the perfect kick to the cranium and then capitalized with the Phoenix Splash at 16:07 to put an end to Tommy End's BOLA hopes and dreams.

CHRIS HERO DEF. RICOCHET

In the last match of the second round of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles, two Reseda favourites stepped foot in the ring to stake their claim at advancing to the next round. On one side you have Chris Hero, one of the legends of the independent wrestling scene. On the other you have Ricochet, half man, half amazing, and the future of this business. The styles clashed as both Hero and Ricochet put their all into the match, with multiple nearfalls and a couple close calls with planchas from both men to the outside. A piledriver onto the ring apron, however, meant the beginning of the end for Ricochet - as Hero picked up the pieces and dropped the New Japan star with not one, not two, but three Rolling Elbows in succession at 16:29 to cement his spot in the Semi-Finals of this year's tournament.

BEST FRIENDS DEF. WORLD'S CUTEST TAG TEAM

After capturing the Pro Wrestling Guerilla Tag Team Championships from The Young Bucks last night, the Best Friends, Trent? and Chuck Taylor, were ready to put the belts on the line in a "Totally Not Stolen From John Cena, Best Friends' United States PWG Tag Team Championships Open Challenge"! The call was soon answered by the team of Joey Ryan and Candice LeRae, making their Reseda returns, in hopes of winning their titles back. The action was back and forth and comedy ensued as Chuck Taylor quite literally flew out of the ring thanks to the Penis-Plex from Joey, but Trent? snuck up from behind and rolled up the PWG founder at 15:02 to successfully make defence number 1 of their PWG Tag Team Championships.

2016 BOLA SEMI-FINALS

CHRIS HERO DEF. WILL OSPREAY

Around twenty minutes ago, Chris Hero managed to put down one of the best flyers today in Ricochet. Now he has Ricochet's counterpart on his plate in the form of Will Ospreay. Ospreay was the fresher competitor of the two, but Hero's work ethic is never to be questioned. The bout went back and forth and Ospreay clearly had the speed advantage on his side. Hero hit hard and fast in this battle between David and Goliath and one Rolling Elbow later knocked his challenger loopy, but Ospreay, much like earlier, managed to kick out at the last possible second! "The Aerial Assassin", however, couldn't strike lightning in a bottle twice as Hero unleashed a hellish attack with four Hangman's Elbows in a row at 15:09 to win via pinfall and punch his ticket to the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles finals.

2016 BOLA SEMI-FINALS

KOTA IBUSHI DEF. ZACK SABRE JR.

In what could be a preview of WWE's Cruiserweight Classic finals, Kota Ibushi and Zack Sabre Jr. tore the house down in Reseda to see who will get to advance in this year's BOLA. Zack, last year's winner and current PWG World Champion, was not going to allow an invader like Kota Ibushi to waltz into "his" promotion and take over - and thus a Match of the Year contender ensued. Ibushi and Zack beat the ever living crap out of one another and both men refused to give up. In a sickening spot, Ibushi managed to kick his way out of a dreaded Armbar by stomping on Zack's head multiple times. Ibushi tried a Phoenix Splash, but Zack countered it by catching Ibushi in a chokehold and that nearly finished the match but the "The Golden☆Star" escaped and planted the PWG World Champion with the Last Ride Powerbomb at 17:24 to score the victory and eliminate the defending champion from the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles in this five-star classic!

2016 BOLA SEMI-FINALS

MARK HASKINS DEF. KYLE O'REILLY

Only two men remain in the Semi-Final round as Mark Haskins looks to put away Bobby Fish's tag team partner Kyle O'Reilly. O'Reilly is no slouch in the ring and took the fight to the Brit as soon as the bell rang in this sprint to a finish. Haskins really won the Reseda faithful over with by taking KOR's punishing kicks and dishing them right back to the former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion. O'Reilly almost had the match won at the eight minute mark with an Ankle Lock and threatened to break the limb but Haskins refused to tap. In an awesome moment that popped the Guerrilla fans, Haskins stuck up the middle finger to KOR and told him to "f~cking do it!" O'Reilly contemplated it for a brief second, but that was a second too long as Haskins escaped the hold and nearly knocked O'Reilly teeth down his throat. The match continued and both men traded the offence but in the end it was Mark Haskins who managed to duck an O'Reilly head kick and roll through into a Sharpshooter at 15:15 to force "The Red Dragon" to tap out and to allow Haskins to advance to the finals of his first Battle of Los Angeles event!

PENTAGON JR, MATT SYDAL, MARK ANDREWS, DREW GALLOWAY & PETE DUNNE DEF. DALTON CASTLE, ANDREW EVERETT, KAMAITACHI, EXTREME TIGER & MARTY SCURLL

While they may have been eliminated in the first round of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, these ten competitors found themselves in tag team action for a chance to impress the Reseda faithful. While everybody got a chance to shine and do some planchas to the outside, it was the team of Pentagon Jr., Matt Sydal, Mark Andrews, Drew Galloway, and Pete Dunne who got the win at 13:42 when Pentagon Jr. forced Dalton Castle to succumb to the dreaded one-two-three following a Package Piledriver that would make Kevin Steen proud.

2016 BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES FINALS

MARK HASKINS DEF. KOTA IBUSHI & CHRIS HERO

The finals were underway. Three countries. Three men. One winner.

After going through their own wars this weekend, Mark Haskins, Chris Hero, and Kota Ibushi stood in the ring and duked it out with all of their might for the fans here in Legion Hall for the chance to the crowned the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles winner. For Kota Ibushi and Mark Haskins, this was an opportunity to make the ultimate mark on their PWG debuts. For Chris Hero, this was his opportunity to prove to the world that he still has "it" in the world of wrestling and is willing the put in the work to show it. The match started off a little slow, as all three competitors looked to get a moment to strike - and it was Hero to struck first with an instant Rolling Elbow to knock Haskins out of the ring. Ibushi and Hero put on a clinic for a few minutes that had the crowd roaring until Mark Haskins returned and things went wild! All three men threw everything (including the kitchen sink) at one another but, thanks to the elimination rules, one needed to go down first. That being, Kota Ibushi, who was eliminated at 13:03 after hitting a Phoenix Splash on Haskins but then falling victim to two Hangman's Elbows from Hero! Hero scored the pinfall to eliminate the DDT star much to the chagrin of the Reseda faithful.

And we were down to two! Chris Hero. Mark Haksins. One of these two individuals would walk out of Reseda, California as the winner of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles. The action was hot as Haskins immediately kicked out of a Hero pin attempt and fought back to his feet. Hero and Haskins traded the offence back and forth until "That Young Knockout Kid" planted Haskins with a Piledriver on the ring apron... Hero went for the pin... one... two... NOOOOO! Somehow, someway, Mark Haskins kicked out and popped up to his feet to come face to face with the Guerrilla legend. Haskins, in an act of defiance, smacked the taste out of Hero's mouth in which Chris retaliated by trying for another Piledriver - but this time Haskins slipped out and locked in a Sharpshooter! Hero cried out in pain and nearly tapped but managed to escape by reaching the bottom rope. As both men became exhausted in the middle of the ring in a standoff, Haskins ducked a Rolling Elbow and kicked Hero right in the face for a near knockout. As Hero refused to be pinned from the kick, Haskins eventually put away Hero with the Cradle To The Grave at 18:29 to a huge pop from the Reseda faithful!

Mark Haskins, in his PWG weekend debut, is the winner of the 2016 Battle of Los Angeles!

WT actual F Haskins … Haskins? I just cant see any real world booker pushing Haskins over the guys in that 2nd rnd. Haskins is a good hand but the BOLA winner just feels like it should be someone special and that's not a word that comes to mind when I think Mark Haskins. The whole thing was beautifully presented but a bit like many WWE PPV's I am left feeling a little confused by the ending. In the real world Marty Scrull won over Trevor Lee and Will Osprey in the final and Scrull feels a bit special ( he went over Haskins in the Semis in the real world). I just have this image of the crowd filing out afterward looking a bit dazed by the result.

While I appreciate your opinion on Haskins, I think he's got a certain look to him and a feel to him that would get over with the PWG crowd. I don't think the Reseda crowd would file out dazed, especially after a night of matches like was presented. After all, this is PWG. Anything can happen.

As a massive mark of 2016 era Mark Haskins, I'm all for this BOLA win. This was the year Haskins was hitting it hot after his match vs. Gargano in PROGRESS. And even tho PROGRESS has done everything in their power to cool Haskins off, I still think he's a great talent and one of the smoothest technical wrestlers around. Not to mention, he's got one of the best suicide dives imo.

I can def see him beating Fish and he did beat KOR in the irl BOLA too. Him beating Ibushi and Hero is a huge rub and I'm all for it. I'd actually argue Scurll's irl run in 2016 was not as impressive as Haskins' irl. BOLA is all about being unpredictable (well, except 2015) and I know this because I pick Trevor Lee to win it every year and the cowards refuse to put my boy over >:[
