[QUOTE][B][U]The Wrestling Newsletter [/U][/B]– August 1993 This Friday’s Smackdown was by far the best Smackdown yet, although that’s not really saying much. It was slightly disappointing that none of the mystery opponents were new signings (unless Nailz’s and Piper’s returns count) but the question of who the opponents would be certainly helped add some much needed excitement to the show. The Doink duplication segment was very interesting. Last month, The Wrestling Newsletter broke the news that the WWF had signed a deal with Las Vegas magician Lance Murdoch, it appears that he is working closely with Doink in order to do several more segments like this. Despite Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan suggesting the two Doink’s that kidnapped Katie Vick were Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett, it was clear to anyone with eyes that it wasn’t them. One of the Doinks was short and the other was at least 6’9, sparking speculation it was actually Harvey Whippleman and the Giant Gonzales heading over to Smackdown from Raw. Gonzales has floundered on Raw without the Dead Man to feud with so this could be a possibility. Despite our happiness at seeing the legendary Roddy Piper back in the ring, our personal favourite moment of Smackdown this week was the debut of The ‘A-B-C’ Boy, Jerry Lynn. Regardless of the dumb name and silly tights, he is one of the greatest wrestlers in America today and hopefully he can prove this in the WWF. The Beverley Brothers seem destined to turn face on The Genius some time after, or maybe even at Summerslam, where they are scheduled to face a mystery tag team, most likely the returning Road Warriors. The Genius is then rumoured to be aligning himself with Ted Dibiase and another tag team, don’t rule High Energy out of the equation, to feud against The Beverley Brothers in the coming months. The Tatanka vs Ted Dibiase (and Razor Ramon and IRS) feud is coming along well with Tatanka’s pops growing with each passing week. The Wrestling Newsletter felt his ‘match’ with Shawn Michaels at Smackdown was very well handled and will hopefully lead to a huge and genuine match between the two somewhere down the line. Here’s hoping the WWF don’t drop the ball on that one. Surprisingly, the fat, out of shape, waste of space known as Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts is entirely the version of the man that the WWF want the fans to see. Rather than wait for Jake to get back in ring shape and give him a huge push from the instant he was ready, the WWF have instead attempted to show the after effects of his drink and drug fuelled past, referring constantly to his “personal demons”. It is believed the WWF are trying to join in the ‘Just Say No’ campaign, something they once did with posters featuring Brutus The Barber Beefcake and the slogan. Many believe that once he is back in shape and shows no signs on slipping back into his past, he will be in line for a top push in the company. The next issue of The Wrestling Newsletter will feature a huge preview of the action that is coming your way at WWF Summerslam featuring predictions on the outcomes of all the matches and ratings on how good they are shaping up to be. This year, Summerslam comes to you live from Memphis, TN and it promises to be a sports entertainment experience like no other. Tatanka's feud with the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase has escalated in recent weeks. Dibiase, intent on ending Tatanka's undefeated streak has enlisted the help of Razor Ramon and IRS. A further twist in the tale is that Dibiase will be the special guest referee. Surely Tatanka cannot overcome these overwhelming odds and keep his streak alive? The Ultimate Warlord made his major return to the WWF on Raw two weeks ago. Since returning he has looked in amazing condition but tonight he faces his toughest challenge yet against his former tag team partner, The Barbarian. Who knows what he and The Samoan Savages will have in store for The Ultimate Warlord at Summerslam. The Beverley Brothers have been on a roll lately.... that is to say a roll of losses and it appears that Smackdown GM Ted Dibiase and their own manager The Genius are getting tired of them. At Summerslame, The Beverley Brothers will face mystery tag team opponents and the pressure is on them to pick up the big win or risk losing their jobs. What started as a question as to whether Crush's amazing physique was due to exposure to nuclear material as a child has turned into a violent feud. Last week on Raw, Adam Bomb gave a major chairshot to the face of Crush as a taster for the no disqualifications, no count outs, falls count anywhere, Nuclear Warfare Match. This one may get ugly. Bob Backlund has announced that if he loses to Diesel at Summerslam cleanly and without any interferance, then he will end his career and pass on the torch to a younger generation. Diesel may just be too much for the veteran, the 7 foot tall monster has rampaged his way through the WWF and his momentum shows no signs of running out just yet. Will this be the former WWF Champion and WWF Legend's last ever match? Ever since the brand split was introduced which meant some superstars were exclusice to Raw and others to Smackdown, the WWF Tag Team Champions, The Steiner Brothers have been on opposing shows. Tonight will be their first match together in over 4 weeks and the pressure will be on as they will defend their titles in a 3 team battle royale against The Headshrinkers and The Quebecers. The rules are simple, two superstars will begin and then every 2 minutes another will enter the match. Eliminations will be by pinfall or submission only and the last two superstars will be named WWF Tag Team champions. You won't find two men who love their countries more than Lex Luger and Ludvig Borga, and at Summerslam they will clash in a National Pride Match. If Borga wins, he will be able to retire to Helsinki, undefeated in the WWF and Lex will have to sing the Finnish national anthem. However, if Lex wins, Borga must remain in the WWF, wear red, white and blue and sing the American national anthem. Memphis' own Jerry 'The King' Lawler has won 28 wrestling titles in the Tennessee state. However, at Summerslam he will face his toughest challenge yet, The Phenom, The Undertaker. The King has been playing mind games with The Dead Man and it appears that he has paid a young girl named Katie Vick to fake a romantic interest in The Undertaker, only then to stage a mock kidnapping of the girl in order to upset The Dead Man. The Undertaker seems oblivious to this, so maybe The King feels the only way to beat The Undertaker, is to break his heart. What started as a friendly rivalry over who was the better worker has escalated to a bloody and personal feud between Bret 'The Hitman' Hart and Bam Bam Bigelow when Bigelow and Splash Mountain injured Bret's ribs. The two have already had some great matches, in the final of King of the Ring 1993 and on Raw 4 weeks ago. However, tonight they are wrestling for the chance to face the WWF Champion tommorow night on Raw, so expect levels of intensity you didn't think were possible until now. Shawn Michaels is the most arrogant WWF Superstar you could ever meet. In recent weeks, his claims that the WWF Intercontinental Title is superior to the WWF Title have angered the Macho Man Randy Savage, a former multiple time WWF Champion and Intercontinental Champion. The Heart Break Kid is aiming to prove to the world that with him as Intercontinental Champion, Smackdown is the superior brand and Savage is aiming to show the ****y youngster that he is a long way away from being the top dog in sports entertainment. Due to the fine print of the match contract, Diesel will be banned from ringside but Randy Savage is allowed a manager and he will be accompanied to the ring by the returning Miss Elizabeth. Mr. Perfect is generally reverred as one of the best wrestlers in the world to have never been WWF Champion. Tonight he gets his shot after defeating Giant Gonzales, Fatu and Samu in gruelling matches. However, now he faces the biggest challenge of them all against the 600 pound sumo wrestling champion, Yokozuna. Yoko has been the WWF champion since he defeated the legendary Hulk Hogan at King of the Ring and he has looked unstoppable since. Will tonight be a perfect evening? [U]Free For All Match 1 The Raw Youth (The ‘1-2-3’ Kid and The ‘A-B-C’ Boy) vs Barry Horrowitz and Damien Demento[/U] This match was announced after the Smackdown tapings. Seems to be a pretty standard squash match but we shan’t complain about being able to see Jerry Lynn and Sean Waltman in action together. Although whoever came up with the idea of teaming Demento and Horrowitz has strange ideas. It’s also just occurred to us that they’re called The Raw Youth yet are on Smackdown, poor naming on behalf of the WWF bookers or an idea for future development? It’s too early to tell. Prediction: The Raw Youth Excitement Rating: 3/10 [U]Free For All Match 2 Marty Jannetty vs Johnny Polo[/U] Hopefully this will be the end of the truly woeful feud taking up far too much time on Raw every week. We couldn’t care less who wins and the match is bound to be a total disaster. Prediction: Johnny Polo as it is his first match Excitement Rating: 1/10 Now onto the main show. [U]Match 1[/U] Tatanka vs IRS and Razor Ramon – Special Guest Referee – Ted Dibiase The WWF have excelled themselves in the handling of this feud and it has become one of the most hotly followed feuds currently going. That is why it came as somewhat of a surprise to see it confirmed as the opening match. However, all three are capable workers and the WWF seem to be relying on this match to set the tone for the rest of the card. Prediction: Tatanka somehow overcoming the odds Excitement Rating: 8/10 [U]Match 2[/U] [U]The Ultimate Warlord vs The Barbarian[/U] Yawn. This one is bound to be awful and has had very little build up. Expect an easy win for The Ultimate Warlord as his main event push is set to continue at least until Survivor Series. Right now, The Ultimate Warlord winning the Royal Rumble is a distinct possibility we’re afraid…. Prediction: The Ultimate Warlord Excitement Rating: 4/10 [U]Match 3 The Beverley Brothers vs ???[/U] The Beverley Brothers playing bad wrestler characters has actually been better than it sounded on paper and has at least led to the pair getting a reaction from the fans whilst totally jobbing them out at the same time. This match appears set to feature the return to the WWF of The Road Warriors, one of the greatest tag teams in recent memory and if the mystery opponents are them, expect The Beverley’s losing streak to continue. Also look out for a possible turn at the end of the match featuring The Genius which looks like it’s been on the cards for a while. Prediction: The mystery opponents Excitement Rating: 7/10 [U]Match 4 Adam Bomb vs Crush[/U] This is the first ever WWF Nuclear Warfare match which effectively means hardcore rules. The premise is ridiculous, for those unaware, this feud started when Crush was offended when Adam Bomb asked him if his physique was the result of exposure to nuclear material and challenged him to this match. This match appears to be the WWF testing the water for a possible transgression into a more hardcore style of wrestling, especially when considering that they WWF have signed Sabu, Bill DeMott, Mike Awesome and other hardcore brawlers to development deals. Prediction: Adam Bomb, he needs a big win but really it could go either way Excitement Rating: 6/10 [U]Match 5 Bob Backlund vs Diesel[/U] As much as we love and admire Bob Backlund, a part of us wants him to lose tonight and end his career as he has become so stale in his role as a patriotic and just babyface. This match could actually be the worst match of the night and hopefully it will be kept very short. Although, if Backlund does lose cleanly, his retirement could prove to be an entertaining and emotional segment. Prediction: Diesel to win but through interference so Backlund doesn’t have to retire Excitement Rating: 4/10 [U]Match 6 The Steiner Brothers vs The Headshrinkers vs The Quebecers[/U] A good match featuring three of the WWF’s top tag teams and an interesting scenario with the holders of the tag titles being on different brands, an idea which we feel hasn’t been exploited as well as it perhaps could have. The rules are two men begin the match, every two minutes another comes in and eliminations will be by pinfall or submission until only two superstars remain. The WWF haven’t addressed the idea that the last two could be Pierre and Samu or Scott Steiner and Jacques etc and they’ve acted as if this match will cure the problem of having one champion on either brand, which if The Steiners retained, would be still be the case. With that said, expect The Quebecers to pick up the titles at Summerslam and then possibly feud with the returning Road Warriors. Prediction: The Quebecers Excitement Rating: 7/10 [U]Match 7 Lex Luger vs Ludvig Borga[/U] Sometimes brilliant wrestlers just can’t get over with the WWF crowd and other times terrible wrestlers do. This has been the case with Borga and Luger who are contesting one of the hottest feuds in the WWF right now over a USA vs Finland platform. We’d be very surprised if Borga wins as one of the stipulations is he will be able to retire to Finland undefeated if he wins and the WWF wouldn’t have built him up this well if he was set to leave after this match. Match looks set to be a dud in terms of quality but fan involvement could save it from being a total failure. Prediction: Lex Luger Excitement Rating: 7/10 [U]Match 8 The Undertaker vs Jerry Lawler[/U] Should be great. It will be very interesting to see the reaction that Jerry Lawler gets in his hometown of Memphis, TN and expect Jeff Jarrett to be involved somehow. Many journalists are actually anticipating a Jerry Lawler win after interference from Harvey Whippleman and Giant Gonzales who would then reveal themselves as the two Doinks who kidnapped Katie Vick. Prediction: Jerry Lawler for the above reasons, but maybe not through a direct pinfall Excitement Rating: 9/10 [U]Match 9 Bret Hart vs Bam Bam Bigelow[/U] Bound to be one of the matches of the night. The two have already met in fantastic matches and have both improved since then. They have a great in ring chemistry and despite the relatively lacklustre fan reactions they’ve been receiving lately, we’re sure they can get the fans involved in this match and win them back and we hope this feud continues for a long time. The winner of this match could go either way and expect the outcome of this to influence the outcome of Mr. Perfect vs Yokozuna and the winners of each match face off on Raw on Monday. Therefore, if Bam Bam wins, we should see a new champ and if Bret wins, expect Yoko to retain. Prediction: Bret Hart, nowhere near 100% sure though Excitement Rating: 9/10 [U]Match 10 Macho Man Randy Savage vs Shawn Michaels[/U] Two great superstars facing off is always a treat, despite the relatively mediocre feud the two have had that’s featured Randy Savage doing a complete u-turn, initially refusing to wrestle for the WWF Intercontinental title. Savage’s addition of Miss Elizabeth as his manager makes him the most likely pick to win, but really giving him the title would be a bad move as Shawn Michaels is developing so well with the belt. Remember, if Savage is wearing gold, he’s going to win the title. Prediction: Randy Savage, winning the match but hopefully not winning the title. Excitement Rating: 8/10 [U]Match 11 Mr. Perfect vs Yokozuna[/U] We’ll admit it, we would much prefer Mr. Perfect as a heel. However, even as a face, the time is right for him to win the WWF Title, he’s more over than Yoko, he’s more charismatic than Yoko and he’s far better in the ring than Yoko. Yokozuna has performed reasonably well with the title but realistically he can’t be on top for long as he’s incapable of wrestling anything more than a short squash match. That said, it seems from backstage news that Yokozuna is destined to retain the title tonight to lose it to either Bret Hart or Lex Luger further down the line, but not tomorrow night on Raw. Prediction: Yokozuna, but we pray we’re wrong Excitement Rating: 8/10 In conclusion, this is a stacked card and, as always, there’s some filler and some poor looking matches but there are several top matches on the card and whilst it’s unlikely to top the spectacle of Summerslam 1992, it should be better than the WWF’s last PPV, King Of The Ring 1993. Maybe the brand split could be a success after all, expect a few debuts at the PPV tonight and several more superstars in the coming weeks as the WWF attempts to fill out the roster.[/QUOTE] ...

[B][U]WWF Summerslam 1993 Free 4 All Results[/U][/B] Todd Pettengil of Raw and Rob Bartlett of Smackdown (the dream team) were standing in the part of the arena where WCW commentators used to sit and they welcomed us to the half hour Free 4 All ahead of WWF Summerslam and introduced a video of the action coming your way tonight. A video was shown on the titantron featuring a rundown of all the major matches tonight and ended with Mr. Perfect and Yokozuna staring eachother down. [U]Match 1 The Raw Youth (The 1-2-3 Kid and The A-B-C Boy) vs Barry Horrowitz and Damien Demento[/U] Horrowitz and Demento had a surprisingly good chemistry and it might be an idea if they formed a full time tag team as neither has anything to do in singles competition. Needless to say, The Raw Youth played the underdog pretty boys and got the win after a reasonably good bout. [B]Winners: The Raw Youth[/B] Rob Bartlett said that when Smackdown claims the WWF Tag Team titles tonight, The Raw Youth will receive the first shot on this Friday’s Smackdown. Pettengil disagreed and there was some lame banter between the two about which was the superior brand. This prompted another video. A video was shown on the titantron about the events of Summerslams past, such as Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart and 1991 and Bret vs Davey Boy Smith at 1992. Coming back from the videos and Pettengil and Bartlett are up to their old tricks once again, this time interviewing members of the crowd about their predictions for tonight’s matches. Todd asked a woman who was clearly just there with her kids about who her favourite wrestler was, she replied ‘The Ultimate Warrior’, Pettengil, not realising her mistake then asked her if she thought he’d win his match against The Barbarian tonight and she replied that she did. Bartlett found a youngster wearing a Macho Man style hat and asked him who was going to win the Intercontinental Title and the kid said ‘Randy Savage’. Thankfully the embarrassing segment was cut short and the second match began. [U]Match 2 Johnny Polo vs Marty Jannetty[/U] Oh dear. I think the WWF will be relieved they didn’t put this on PPV as otherwise people may have rioted about having to pay for such drivel. The end came, mercifully, after five minutes when behind the referee’s back, Polo tried to hit Jannetty with his big, brick mobile phone and was instead rolled up for a quick three count [B]Winner: Marty Jannetty[/B] After the match, Polo threw a massive tantrum in the ring as Bartlett and Pettengil did the 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 countdown until the opening of WWF Summerslam 1993. [B][U]WWF Summerslam 1993 Results[/U][/B] The show kicked off with a music package featuring shots of WWF superstars in action and certain wrestlers (Tatanka, The Undertaker and Lex Luger, most notably) saying their catchphrases over the music. Vince McMahon and Jim Ross welcomed us to Summerslam 1993, before handing us over briefly to the Spanish announce team and then over to Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan to call the Smackdown action in the first match of the night. [U]Match 1 Tatanka vs Razor Ramon and IRS (Referee: Ted Dibiase)[/U] A great opening match with each wrestler doing their utmost to ensure a quality encounter and Dibiase utilising some hilarious heel tactics such as turning his back when IRS blatantly choked Tatanka. The finish came when Tatanka hit the Indian Death Drop on Razor Ramon and then Dibiase grabbed him from behind to allow IRS to punch Tatanka in the face. Naturally, Tatanka ducked and IRS clocked Dibiase in the face, knocking him out clean. Tatanka then hit the Indian Death Drop on IRS and lifted the arm of the motionless Million Dollar Man three times to seal the victory. [B]Winner: Tatanka[/B] After the match, Tatanka celebrated his upset victory with the Memphis crowd. Backstage, Todd Pettengil was with The Ultimate Warlord who when asked about his match next, merely yelled ‘BLITZKRIEG! BLITZKRIEG! BLITZKRIEG’ over and over again. [U]Match 2 The Ultimate Warlord vs The Barbarian[/U] It was never going to be pretty but it was short and mildly entertaining, featuring run ins from every member of The Samoan Savages except Yokozuna. However, The Ultimate Warlord took on all comers and won the match after an impressive gorilla press slam. [B]Winner: The Ultimate Warlord[/B] Jack Tunney then came to the ring and announced his big announcement. He said that the brand split had proved to be such a remarkable success that each brand would receive a new hour long show each week, with Raw’s show named ‘Sunday Night Heat’ and Smackdown’s show known as ‘Saturday Night Velocity’. He also announced that at the next WWF Pay Per View, Survivor Series 1993, the two brands would come head to head in elimination style matches. The Beverley Brothers then made their way to the ring with the Genius and awaited their mystery opponents as the fans in Memphis, TN chanted ‘Road Warriors’. However, it was not the Road Warriors after all and the mystery tag team were announced as ‘Memphis’ own sons – Robbie and Ricky – The Rock’n’Roll Express!’ [U]Match 3 The Beverley Brothers vs The Rock’n’Roll Express[/U] Robbie and Ricky as they are now known where on top form tonight and dragged a reasonably good match out of the Beverley Brothers. Naturally, The Beverley Brothers lost after a double dropkick. [B]Winners: The Rock’n’Roll Express[/B] After the match, The Genius berated the Beverley Brothers once more and finally Beau and Blake snapped and grabbed The Genius, in an apparent face turn. Before they could hurt The Genius, Virgil and Koko B. Ware came out from the back, in suits, and attacked The Beverley Brothers and then carried out The Genius’ instructions to hurt his former clients even more. As The Genius, Virgil and Koko left the ring, Owen Hart came out and asked Koko what he was doing. Koko laughed at him and pushed him to the floor whilst Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan were contemplating what just happened. A video was shown on the titantron about nuclear bombs and how the world has never seen the results of real nuclear warfare….. until now. [U]Match 4 Nuclear Warfare Match: Adam Bomb vs Crush[/U] A far better match than anyone would have expected. The action came thick and fast with several weapons being used. However, it wasn’t brutal, it was soft, aluminium weapons but the fans reacted none the less. The match went all through the arena and to the back and it was here that Crush hit Adam Bomb with a payphone and then a full nelson slam on the concrete for the win. [B]Winner: Crush[/B] After the match, Harvey Whippleman got in the face of Adam Bomb and for the second successive match, a wrestler turned on his manager and Whippleman was seemingly knocked out after one punch, Adam Bomb then shook Crush’s hand, thanked him for a hugely competitive match and said ‘this doesn’t mean I like you, but I respect you and I’m more sure than ever that you’re physique is a result of exposure to nuclear material’. Crush stopped and mused, seemingly wondering if he was exposed to radiation as a child. A video was shown on the titantron about the career of Bob Backlund and it ended with the question – his last match? [U]Match 5 Bob Backlund vs Diesel[/U] A fairly poor match but it featured a chant of ‘please don’t go’ at Bob Backlund and retained a level of crowd interaction. However, the fans were to be disappointed when Diesel won the match fairly and not only ended the career of Bob Backlund but knocked him out cold, forcing him to be stretchered out. [B]Winner: Diesel[/B] Jeff Jarrett then came down to the ring to address his adoring Memphis, TN hometown fans and sung his famous country and western hit ‘With My Baby Tonight’. Just after the second verse, Jake ‘The Snake Roberts’ hit the ring to halt this awful performance. Jake said that as much as he loved a good country tune, that wasn’t one and these people came to see wrestling not singing. Jarrett took offence to this and hit Jake Roberts over the head with the guitar, a close up of the guitar showed it featured a sticker stating ‘Just Say No’. A video was then shown on the Titantron hyping the Yokozuna vs Mr. Perfect match for the WWF Title and the WWF Intercontinental match between Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels. Back to Summerslam and ‘Dr. Love’ Tom Pritchard is in the ring with Brother Love. They say something about what a travesty it is that their not on the card and then for no reason started abusing Jim Ross, saying it was his fault and challenged JR to step in the ring. JR got the mic and said he wasn’t going to fight him but knew someone who was, he said this man was scheduled to debut tomorrow night on Raw but as Pritchard is here now, he may as well beat him now and introduced ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams! [U]Match 6 ‘Dr. Love’ Tom Pritchard vs ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams[/U] The match lasted about 30 seconds and ten of those were referee Earl Hebner counting Pritchard as knocked out after an Oklahoma Slam [B]Winner: Dr Death[/B] A video was then shown featuring a selection of the greatest WWF Tag Team Champions of all time and then said that after tonight, the titles would be exclusive to one brand and one brand alone. [U]Match 7 Three Team Elimination Battle Royale for the WWF Tag Team Titles: The Steiners © vs The Headshrinkers vs The Quebecers[/U] Scott Steiner and Fatu were the first two in the match and they wrestled briefly before Samu was introduced and they double teamed Steiners. After the next two minutes, Rick Steiner came out to even the odds and the Steiners looked electric together. The announcers speculated that perhaps Dibiase’s money played some part in the Raw superstars getting the first three numbers and Smackdown superstars getting the last. Soon, Pierre made his way to the ring and during this time Samu was eliminated by Scott Steiner. Then Jacques came out and he and Pierre made short work of Fatu, leaving us with The Quebecers vs The Steiners. After a huge Frankensteiner by Scott and a huge bull dog by Rick, the Steiners got simultaneous pins and eliminated both Quebecers meaning they are still WWF Tag Team Champions. [B]Winners: WWF Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers[/B] After the match, Rick and Scott celebrated their unity but the announcers were quick to point out that the problem of having one title on each brand hadn’t been solved. Suddenly, Ted Dibiase’s music hit and he came onto the stage. He said that due to an agreement with Jack Tunney, if The Steiners retained the titles tonight, Smackdown would be able to name the first challengers. However, Jack Tunney didn’t specify when the title match had to take place, so he announced that The Steiner Brothers would defend the WWF Tag Team Titles against his two newest signings….. Animal and Hawke….. The Legion of Doom! [U]Match 8 WWF Tag Team Title Match: The Steiner Brothers © vs Legion Of Doom[/U] Animal and Hawke received a huge pop until they shook hands with Ted Dibiase and revealed themselves as heels. Hawke looks a lot smaller than usual, but perhaps it’s just due to the weight Animal has put on. The Legion of Doom made short work of the tired tag champs and pinned Rick Steiner following a Doomsday Device. [B]Winners: New WWF Tag Team Champions The Legion Of Doom[/B] A video was shown highlighting the feud between Lex Luger and Ludvig Borga, noting the Raw Is Finland segments from two weeks ago particularly. [U]Match 9 National Pride Match: Lex Luger vs Ludvig Borga[/U] The fans chanted ‘USA, USA’ throughout the match and were justly rewarded when Luger hit the running forearm after 8 minutes and got his revenge on the Finn. [B]Winner: Lex Luger[/B] After the match, Luger draped Borga with the stars and stripes and laughed about how tomorrow on Raw, Ludvig will have to sing the American National Anthem. By far the best video package of the night was then shown featuring highlights of the feud between Jerry Lawler and The Undertaker and the alleged kidnapping of The Undertaker’s apparent girlfriend, Katie Vick. [U]Match 10 Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler vs The Undertaker[/U] Lawler got the biggest pop of the night, he then got the microphone and cut a standard promo about remembering how much he hates Memphis and was glad to leave, giving him the biggest heat of the night. The match was very entertaining, but obviously not a textbook in mat wrestling techniques. Jeff Jarrett naturally got himself involved and it appeared that the numbers game may be working. Then the fans chanted ‘Win for Katie’ at The Dead Man and he came back pinning Lawler after a Tombstone piledriver. [B]Winner: The Undertaker[/B] After the match, Taker chased Jeff Jarrett to the backstage area where he grabbed him and demanded to know where Katie Vick was. Jarrett swore upon his life that he and Lawler did not kidnap Katie Vick and Taker let him go. During this segment, Giant Gonzales and Harvey Whippleman walked passed, carrying a large brown sack. The action then cut to Vince McMahon and Jim Ross who discussed the highly competitive feud between Bret Hart and Bam Bam Bigelow which became personal when Bam Bam and Splash Mountain injured The Hitman’s ribs. They said that when a shot at the WWF Title was on the line, they knew that both wrestlers could take their game up a level and deliver a fierce contest. [U]Match 11 Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart vs Bam Bam Bigelow[/U] An absolute corker of a match. Each man got in an equal amount of offences and the psychology was second to none. At every available opportunity, Bret attempted to apply the Sharpshooter but Bam Bam was able to avoid it. Bret realised he would have to find another way to win, but not of his moves were able to put Bam Bam down for the three. The finish was somewhat of a letdown as it was a copy of the Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper match at Wrestlemania VIII, as Bam Bam had Bret in a sleeper lock and Bret backflipped of the top turnbuckle and pinned Bigelow, thus becoming number one contender. [B]Winner: Bret Hart[/B] After the match, Bam Bam went crazy and assaulted Bret with the help of Luna Vachon. Bam Bam placed Bret in the middle of the ring and a chair over his face. Bam Bam then delivered the top rope diving headbutt right onto the chair and crushed Bret’s skull. Bret didn’t move for several minutes and had to be stretchered out. A video package was then shown about the Macho Man versus Shawn Michaels feud over whether the Intercontinental Title is a valid main event title or not and Savage’s announcement that Miss Elizabeth is to be in his corner tonight. [U]Match 12 WWF Intercontinental Title Match: Macho Man Randy Savage vs Shawn Michaels ©[/U] Both men received great reactions and there was an air of confidence in the arena that this match would deliver, and it did. Whilst not quite topping the previous match it was still fantastic, with a notable highlight coming from Savage kicking out from Shawn Michaels’ attempt to replicate his flying elbow. At the end of the match it appeared Savage had things won as he was about to deliver his own flying elbow drop when a strange video was shown on the titantron. The picture was blurry but two lovers could be heard kissing and the woman said ‘You’re a much better kisser than my husband’, the picture then came into focus and it was revealed it was Elizabeth and Shawn Michaels kissing. The heartbroken Randy Savage was then unable to deliver the elbow drop and the Heart Break Kid was able to recover to roll him up for the three. [B]Winner: Still WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels[/B] After the match, Elizabeth got in the ring, Savage asked her ‘Why?’ and she laughed at him, slapped him and kicked him in between the legs before kissing Shawn Michaels and leaving the ringside area. Backstage, Todd Pettengil was with Mr. Perfect. Perfect said he’s had a successful career, but he’s never held the WWF Title and tonight is his night. He said tonight he will silence the critics who have said that he isn’t world champion material and those who say Yokozuna cannot be lifted. Perfect claimed he would find a way to hit the Perfect Plex and then give the WWF a true, fighting champion that everyone can be proud of. [U]Match 13 WWF Title Match: Yokozuna © Mr. Perfect[/U] Mr. Perfect could wrestle a brick to a decent encounter and he proved tonight why he’s one of the top men in the business. At several points during the match, it appeared Perfect had it won, only for a member of the Samoan Savages to come down and distract the referee. The finish came when Yokozuna hit a huge headbutt on Perfect and laid him in the corner for a Bonzai Drop. However, Perfect got up and punched Yokozuna in the back just as he was going to drop down. This caused Yokozuna to turn round and he ended up sitting of the top turnbuckle. From this position, Perfect hooked Yoko’s leg and was able to hit a terrible weak looking Perfect Plex, using gravity as his friend as he was other wise unable to lift Yokozuna. Despite looking terrible, the move won Mr. Perfect the match and his first WWF Heavyweight Championship [B]Winner: New WWF Champion Mr. Perfect[/B] After the match there was a touching moment where all the Raw faces, notable Luger, Scott Steiner and The Ultimate Warlord came out and lifted Perfect onto their shoulders. The only notable absence was the man who is to face Mr. Perfect tomorrow night in his first WWF Title defence, Bret Hart who was injured at the hands of Bam Bam Bigelow. The announcers speculated what would happen tomorrow night as Summerslam came to an end. Awesome Summerslam was awesome, somehow I totally missed the post. I liked the Elizabeth screwjob on Savage, and that Perfect and Hart won. Bret Hart .vs. Perfect for the WWF title sounds great, if it stays like that. And very realistic by the way by telling that Lawler got the biggest pop, in my hometown and Lawler's hometown of Memphis. That was good. Great work, keep it up, I think everyone is reading this.

It seems that the WWF had lined up a main event push for Jannetty, teaming him with the top babyfaces on Raw in a Survivor Series style match, but due to his inability to get over, even without the ominous shadow of Shawn Michaels, it seems Marty will go back to the midcard in the tag team division. [U]Tatanka vs Razor Ramon and IRS[/U]: This proved to be a great opening match and Tatanka is seemingly on route to become Smackdown’s second biggest face, after The Undertaker. The match was great but we can’t help but be left wondering when Tatanka’s undefeated streak will end and who it will be to. [B]8/10[/B]. [U]The Ultimate Warlord vs The Barbarian[/U]: Naturally terrible, but they kept it short and the fans seemed relatively happy. Therefore [B]6/10[/B]. [U]The Beverley Brothers vs The Rock ’n ’Roll Express[/U]: This is where we felt the PPV came unstuck a bit. The aging Ricky and Robbie received a great reaction from the Memphis fans but we can’t help but wonder about the reactions they will get in the future. The face turn of The Beverley Brothers wasn’t surprising, but they are unlikely to suck less as faces than they did as heels and the apparent turning of Virgil and Koko B. Ware could be interesting, but if their tag team combination gets pushed at the expense of Owen Hart, we won’t be happy.[B] 6/10[/B]. [U]Crush vs Adam Bomb[/U]: This was the surprise package of the night, the match itself was sound and the fans seemed really into the mindless use of aluminium baking trays as weapons. There has been talk of making the ‘Nuclear Warfare’ match a more permanent fixture in the WWF as it would compensate for the lack of talent that many of the larger wrestlers possess. However, with the WWF still intent to market their product at children and families, don’t expect things to get too violent. The apparent face turn of Adam Bomb, also came out of nowhere but it fuels speculation that Harvey Whippleman and Giant Gonzales are heading to Smackdown to feud with The Undertaker. [B]7/10[/B]. [U]Diesel vs Bob Backlund[/U]: As expected, a total dud. It is also clearly not going to be Bob Backlund’s last match as such an illustrious career isn’t going to end with him being stretchered out. It seems Diesel will be shoved down our throats for at least a few more months. [B]2/10[/B] The Jeff Jarrett country and western segment was mildly entertaining if they go anywhere with it, but it didn’t really have a whole lot to do with wrestling. He was super over with the fans though and that bodes well for the WWF. [U]Dr. Death vs Dr. Love[/U]: This impromptu match was fun and it appears Steve Williams could be in line to become a major player in the WWF. [B]7/10[/B]. [U]The Steiners vs The Headshrinkers vs The Quebecers[/U]: Good stuff. We’d forgotten how good the Steiners can be when in full flow and it’s a shame they’re on separate shows. The finish was great and lead to the next match. [B]8/10[/B]. [U]The Steiners vs Legion of Doom[/U]: We were really surprised to see LOD back as heels but it was great none the less and the manner in which they won the titles sets up a rematch a long way down the line. For some reason, the WWF are calling Hawk – Hawke, no idea why this is but it could possible be due to the fact WCW are calling him Road Warrior Hawk and he remains the only wrestler to be in both companies simultaneously. [B]8/10[/B]. [U]Lex Luger vs Ludvig Borga[/U]: Terrible match, but the fans were way into it and Luger is really getting over as a patriot and Borga as the stereotypical evil foreigner. It was kept short and the right man won, so no complaints here. [B]7/10[/B]. [U]The Undertaker vs Jerry Lawler[/U]: The crowd was on fire for this one, with both wrestlers being equally over. It was a very enjoyable match and should conclude the feud between the two as Taker moves back to feuding Gonzales and Lawler hopefully with Piper. [B]9/10[/B]. [U]Bret Hart vs Bam Bam Bigelow[/U]: We predicted they would steal the show and they did in the match of the night. 20 minutes of back and forth hard hitting action, although the ending was a rip off of Piper vs Hart at WMVIII, but who cares. The end of the match was surprisingly violent with Bam Bam delivering the flying headbutt onto a steel chair covering Bret’s face, many journalists are predicting we could be looking at Summerslam 93 in the future as the day that the WWF turned violent. [B]9/10[/B]. [U]Shawn Michaels vs Randy Savage[/U]: Two superb workers, one superb match. Only complaint is that Savage didn’t do a clean job for HBK but we see that coming in future weeks, possibly at Survivor Series. The Elizabeth turn was well executed, as it fits in with HBK’s lady killer gimmick, but rather predictable. [B]9/10[/B]. [U]Mr. Perfect vs Yokozuna[/U]: There are two things we love about this match; a) Mr. Perfect is finally a world champion and b) it means Bret vs Perfect tomorrow night on Raw. The match itself wasn’t much to talk about, but then what Yokozuna matches are and it seems finally Yoko may go to the midcard for a while as he had become very stale in the main event, especially when WCW are offering fans Sting, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat etc.[B] 8/10[/B]. Final Words: A surprisingly good PPV in comparison to the quality of the TV shows lately, but far from perfect. Ted Dibiase's Smackdown and The Legion of Doom effectively stole the WWF Tag Team Titles from The Steiner Brothers at Summerslam and made them exclusive to Smackdown. Tonight on Raw, Sgt. Slaughter has a huge announcement to make to all the tag teams of Raw. All this and much more, featuring Dr. Death Steve Williams in action, tonight on Raw. [B][COLOR="Red"]Monday Night Raw Results[/COLOR][/B] The show began with Lex Luger already in the ring and the fans inside the sold out Lincoln Arena, NE on their feet. Lex informed the fans at home that before every WWF event they sing the national anthem but it’s cut on the television broadcasts, not as a sign of disrespect to ‘our great nation’ but in order to give as much time as possible for ‘Superstar action’. However, Lex said that after his match last night, tonight’s national anthem will be sung right now by the Finn, Ludvig Borga. Borga came to the ring decked in red, white and blue, including a giant top hat and began to sing the American national anthem terribly. Lex cut him off saying never before had he wished the national anthem would end and introduced Borga’s mystery patriotic opponent. The fans at this point chanted ‘Hogan, Hogan, Hogan’ and others chanted ‘Warrior, Warrior, Warrior’ but all were let down when Hacksaw Jim Duggan made his way to the ring. [U]Match 1 Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Ludvig Borga[/U] Chants of USA throughout. Duggan dominated Borga and hit all his trademark moves. However, victory was Borga’s after a low blow and a quick roll up for the pin. Borga then fled the ring and spat on the large American top hat he had been forced to wear. [B]Winner: Ludvig Borga[/B] After a quick commercial break, Sgt. Slaughter made his way to the ring. The Sarge spoke of the terrible miscarriage of justice last night when Smackdown’s The Legion of Doom stole the WWF Tag Team Titles from The Steiner Brothers. Slaughter announced that now the belts were only to be defended on Smackdown and had been renamed the WWF Smackdown Tag Team Titles. However, Slaughter declared the debut of a new tag team title in the WWF, the appropriately named WWF Raw Tag Team Titles and announced a tournament to decide the winners in the coming weeks. He announced two first round matches would take place tonight, featuring The Bushwackers vs The Headshrinkers and Splash Mountain vs Scott Steiner and a mystery partner and that the other first round matches would be decided after some qualifying matches this Sunday on the debut of Sunday Night Heat (despite the fact the fans in attendance had already seen these matches taped before the show). Backstage, Johnny Polo was shown talking on his mobile phone, clearly agitated. ‘What do you mean the stocks crashed?!’ he asked. ‘Are you telling me that my loss last night to Marty Jannetty made the buyers lose faith in the company?!’. ‘What? I’m fired?!’, Polo then broke down in tears as Raw went to another commercial. Back from the commercials, Todd Pettengil was with Marty Jannetty. Marty announced that after he defeated Johnny Polo last night, he realised how much more at home he felt in tag team wrestling and that is why he was officially entering the WWF Raw Tag Team Title Tournament with his new partner, ‘Leif Cassidy’. A man with long, rockeresque hair came on to the screen playing air guitar. He said that they were called ‘The New Rockers’ and the WWF better watch out because they meant business. Jim Ross stood up from his commentary position and introduced a good friend of his. He said this man is a ‘multi time wrestling champion in College, Europe and Japan’. He told the fans that he hailed from Norman, OK, was 6’2’ tall and weighed 275 pounds. The man who will change the face of the WWF, ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams. [U]Match 2 Dr. Death Steve Williams vs Nameless Jobber[/U] Standard squash match. Dr. Death threw Nameless Jobber around for a while and then delivered the Oklahoma Stampede and forced the referee to count to ten and Williams was awarded the knockout victory. [B]Winner: ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams[/B] At the announce table, Vince McMahon and Jim Ross talked about how dominating Dr. Death had been before moving onto tonight’s main event, Mr. Perfect defending the WWF Title against Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart. A short video package was shown detailing the highlights of the classic Summerslam 1991 bout between Mr. Perfect and Bret Hart. Backstage, Todd Pettengil was trying to get a word with Bret Hart who was in the medical facility due to the injuries he suffered at the hands of Bam Bam Bigelow. The doctor came out and told Pettengil that in his medical opinion Bret Hart was not physically able to compete tonight. However, Bret had refused to listen to him and insisted he wrestle tonight despite a concussion and several fractured ribs. Raw then went to commercial. Back from the commercial and the panpipes sounded as The Samoan Savages made their way to the ring. It all started routinely with Mr. Fuji on the microphone stating how Yokozuna’s loss last night was unfair and they demanded a rematch. Then Yokozuna grabbed the microphone and announced that he was ‘sick of all this’. He said he was sick of pretending he was a Japanese Sumo Wrestler in order to get a break in the WWF. He told the fans his real name was Rodney and he wasn’t a Sumo Champion, he was a rapper from the isle of Samoa and from now on he would go by the name of “Rappin’ Rodney”. He told Mr. Fuji, Harvey Whippleman and Giant Gonzales to get out of the ring as they aren’t really Samoan. The trio were hesitant at first, but after The Faces of Fear threatened them, they made their way from the ring and to the back. Rappin’ Rodney then took the microphone again and announced that The Ultimate Warlord had been making life miserable for his Samoan Savages and challenged him to a match tonight to settle the score. Sgt. Slaughter came out and told Rodney that tonight’s Raw was ‘so action packed’ there was simply no room for another match, but, as a compromise, he would make the Bam Bam Bigelow vs Lex Luger match into Bam Bam Bigelow and Rappin’ Rodney vs Lex Luger and The Ultimate Warlord. This satisfied The Samoan Savages. The Sarge then told The Headshrinkers not to go anywhere as their WWF Raw Tag Team Tournament match was happening right now. [U]Match 3 The Bushwackers vs The Headshrinkers[/U] A reasonably fun television match with The Headshrinkers showing definite signs of improvement. Constant outside interference from Rappin’ Rodney, Afa and The Faces of Fear made the contest worthwhile and the finish came when Fatu hit a giant top rope splash onto Bushwacker Butch for the three count. [B]Winners: The Headshrinkers[/B] After an advert break, Jimmy Snuka was walking backstage when his old enemy Don Muraco came out of nowhere. Snuka adopted his combat stance before Muraco told him to relax. Muraco said that a long time had passed since their battles and now he wanted to be friends with Snuka. Muraco offered Snuka his hand and proposed they formed a team to compete in the WWF Raw Tag Team Title Tournament. Snuka agreed by nodding his head. Elsewhere backstage, Mr. Fuji and the Giant Gonzales where commiserating after their eviction from the Samoan Savages. Harvey Whippleman came over and said that last night he lost Adam Bomb and tonight he lost his spot in the Samoan Savages. He said he was sick and tired of ‘this place’ and gave Mr. Fuji the Giant Gonzales’ contract before stating he had ‘bigger fish to fry’. McMahon and J.R then questioned what Whippleman had meant by that. A video was shown on the Titantron featuring Lex Luger driving on the Lex Express throughout Nebraska, stopping at a homeless shelter to say hi to everyone. Lex was then shown making his way to the ring for his upcoming tag match with The Ultimate Warlord against Bam Bam Bigelow and Rappin’ Rodney. On his route, Lex knocked on Mr. Perfect’s door and wished him good luck tonight, although Perfect didn’t open the door. Then Lex knocked on the door of the medical facility and wished Bret good luck, but again received no response. [U]Match 4 Lex Luger and The Ultimate Warlord vs Bam Bam Bigelow and Rappin’ Rodney[/U] Naturally, Bigelow was the glue that held this match together. He was at the centre of the match for the majority of its ten minute duration and initiated several exchanges of power moves which the fans seemed to enjoy. The finish came when the teams couldn’t stick the rules and began fighting through the crowd leading to a double countout. [B]Winners: Double Countout[/B] After the match, Bam Bam Bigelow returned to the ring clearly angry with the referee. He and Luna Vachon destroyed referee Bill Alfonso and then left the ringside area. After the break, another highlights package was shown on the titantron of a Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart classic encounter, this time at King of the Ring 1993. Backstage Crush and Adam Bomb were chatting about their epic Nuclear Warfare Match at Summerslam last night. The two agreed they had a lot of respect for each other and said they would enter the WWF Raw Tag Team Tournament. They were both clear to point out that this didn’t make them friends though. Scott Steiner then made his way to the ring to discover who his mystery partner against the Splash Mountain would be. The fans leapt to the their feet in adulation when Rick Steiner made his way down to ringside, reuniting the former WWF Tag Team Champions, The Steiner Brothers. [U]Match 5 The Steiner Brothers vs Splash Mountain[/U] The fans were electric for this match and were rewarded with an above average television contest. Scott and Rick were clearly delighted to be teaming again and made short work of Alaska and Kamala, picking up the win following a Frankensteiner. [B]Winners: The Steiner Brothers[/B] After the match, Scott and Rick celebrated together in the ring before thanking Raw General Manager Sgt. Slaughter for bringing them back together. After a break, Todd Pettengil was backstage with the new WWF Champion, Mr. Perfect. Pettengil asked a series of questions about the match tonight and Perfect said nothing. Pettengil was clearly confused and asked Perfect if there was anything he would like to say. Perfect looked long and hard at the camera and simply said ‘I will not be a 24 Hour Champion’. Bret Hart was backstage with bandages around his head and across his ribs. He said that he had earned his shot tonight fairly and that injuries happened, but a true champion overcomes them. He told Perfect that he respected him more than any other competitor he had ever faced but tonight he had to find out who the better man was. [U]Match 6 WWF Championship Match: Mr Perfect © vs Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart[/U] The fans were absolutely on fire in anticipation of what looked set to be the greatest match in Raw history. Perfect had a look of fear in his eyes and insisted the referee pat Bret Hart up and down in the search for weapons. When he found none, the match began. Perfect and Hart kept locking up but Perfect broke them instantly and rolled onto the outside. After three minutes with no real beginning to the match, Bam Bam Bigelow ran down to ringside and assaulted Bret Hart, leaving the referee no alternative other than to stop the match. [B]Winner: Bret Hart by Disqualification[/B] After the match, Bam Bam Bigelow continued his assault on Bret Hart and even punched his second referee of the night (Earl Hebner) when he tried to stop him. Mr. Perfect merely stood and watched this attack with no expression on his face. Before the beating got too bad, Lex Luger ran down to ringside and chased Bam Bam away. Lex tended to the downed Hitman before staring at Mr. Perfect and asking him why he didn’t help out. Mr. Perfect remained motionless as Bret Hart was stretchered out of the arena and Raw went off the air. Interesting spelling error on match 4 as you put The Ultimate WARRIOR. Instead of the ultimate WARLORD. Another great show. Was a bit disappointed at the Leif Cassidy thing as it wasn't new but none of that made any differnce to how great the Rappin Rodney angle was.

Dammit, I keep writing Warrior instead of Warlord when I'm doing the results as a force of habit, thanks for pointing it out. As for Leif Cassidy, this is a tribute to wrestlecrap, not a reinvention of wrestlecrap and although I'm trying to bring in some new and terrible gimmicks (see Rappin' Rodney) there's still room for poor old Leif, Waylon Mercy, Mantuar, Aldo Montoya and many others still to come. Also, sorry to sell everyone out in regards to Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart, but that match is far too good for free television.

Yokozuna wasn't the greatest gimmick around but at least it was over, this change could take any credibility away from Rodney. Although, we have received some good news. The gimmick change was inspired by the signing of Japanese sensation Jinsei Shinzaki. Many felt that with Shinzaki around, noone would believe Yoko was genuinely Japanese, particularly with the other Samoans on the roster bearing remarkable resemblances to him. Leif Cassidy of The New Rockers is development talent Al Snow. This appears bound for failure as Al Snow is quite simply not as good as Shawn Michaels and the fans just won't buy into it. Jannetty was rumoured to be involved in the Raw brand's main event at Survivor Series, but his bad reactions have led to him being demoted back to the tag division. Mr. Perfect seems destined for a heel turn, which is great in our eyes, but the WWF have managed to make us less excited with the rumours that he is set to feud with Lex Luger, not Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. In fairness, Luger has been receiving the biggest pops on Raw, but Hart vs Perfect is the best feud the WWF could possibly do right now. Expect Perfect to win the feud and then face the Royal Rumble winner at Wrestlemania, who is currently scheduled to be The Ultimate Warlord. Yes you did read that correctly. [B][COLOR="Blue"]Firday Night Smackdown Results[/COLOR][/B] Gorrilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan welcomed everyone to Friday Night Smackdown from the Calihan Hall, Detroit MI. The sounds of 'Money, Money, Money, Money' played over the speakers and the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase and Irwin R. Schyster made their way to the ring. Dibiase got the microphone and said tonight was a night of revenge for the disappointment of Summerslam and ran through tonight's Handicap Punishment Matches, Tatanka vs IRS and Razor Ramon, Macho Man vs Shawn Michaels and Diesel, The Undertaker vs Jerry Lawler and Double J. Dibiase said that despite Tatanka's victory, there were still a lot of positives to be taken from Summerslam. Namely the formation of a new stable, The Million Dollar Corporation. Dibiase introduced himself as leader and IRS as second in command. He said last Sunday at Summerslam, the only man smarter than him in the entire WWF, The Genius, alligned himself with the stable and brought with him Koko B.Ware and Virgil. However, they are no longer Koko B.Ware and Virgil, they are now Dibiase's own personal butlers and will go by the names of Butler B.Ware and Virgil The Butler. The trio of The Genius and The Butlers then came out to some new music and played to the crowd, when B.Ware and Virgil got in the ring, they knelt down and began buffing Dibiase's shoes, as Dibiase introduced the 'crown prince of the Million Dollar Corporation..... Razor Ramon'. Razor came out, took the microphone and cut a reasonably good promo about ending Tatanka's undefeated streak tonight. Dibiase then took the microphone and told Owen Hart to come to the ring for his match right now and to bring his partner, if he could find one. Owen Hart also came out to new music, microphone in hand. Owen said that Koko, sorry, Butler B.Ware had been holding him down for well over a year and it's a blessing he's gone to the dark side as now Owen's star can really shine. Owen said he has found a partner tonight and this partner is a product of Stu Hart's famous Calgary Dungeon and one of the most manly men the WWF will ever see. Owen Hart introduced his new partner.... Benoit. The sounds of 'He's a man, such a man, he's a real, real man's man' played as Benoit, the Canadian Lumberjack made his way to the ring for his Smackdown debut wearing a red flannel shirt and red tights. [U]Match 1 Owen Hart and Benoit vs The Butlers (Butler B.Ware and Virgil The Butler)[/U] There probably aren't two worse wrestlers on Smackdown for Benoit to make his debut against, but he and Owen did well to drag an acceptable match out of the new team. The finish came when two masked men ran in and hit Virgil in the face leading to Benoit applying the Crossface and making him submit. [B]Winners: Owen Hart and Benoit[/B] After the match, Benoit hugged Owen for a little too long. Then the masked men took off their masks and revealed themselves as Blake and Beau Beverley, who were supposedly banned from the arena tonight. Beau grabbed a microphone and referred to the team as 'The Beverley Boyz'. The Beverley Boyz challenged The Butlers to a match next week as Smackdown went to commercials. Back from the break and The Raw Youth, The 1-2-3 Kid and The A-B-C Boy were already in the ring, awaiting their WWF Smackdown Tag Team Title Match up. [U]Match 2 WWF Smackdown Tag Team Title Match: Legion of Doom (c) vs The Raw Youth[/U] The LOD still came out to a large pop, but The Raw Youth played the loveable underdog so well that this soon changed. There's something different about Hawke, he's not moving with the fluidity that we've come to expect and his look isn't as impressive as it once was. The LOD made short work of The Raw Youth and finished them off after the Doomsday Device on The Boy. The Kid then jumped off the turnbuckle to attempt a flying senton, but Animal caught him and powerbombed him onto the prone A-B-C Boy. Animal and Hawke then covered both members of The Raw Youth to retain the titles. [B]Winners: Legion of Doom[/B] After the match, The Raw Youth came to their senses and received polite applause from the crowd, when Crime and Punishment, Nailz and Repo Man, hit the ring and destroyed The Kid and The Boy, nearly choking them unconcious. Monsoon questioned why they were doing this and Heenan said that Nailz had been yelling something about 'Dostoevsky'. After the break we were treated to the Raw Rebound, which was a highlight of Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart and the finish which saw Bam Bam Bigelow attack Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect not helping his apparent friend, the Hitman. [U]Match 3 Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart[/U] Not a bad match and the fans were very happy to see Piper in action, despite the fact there was no reason for this match and no story behind it. Naturally Piper got the win after a roll up. [B]Winner: Rowdy Roddy Piper[/B] Tatanka was backstage with Rob Bartlett. Bartlett asked Tatanka what he felt about the adversity he was faced with week after week thanks to Smackdown GM, Ted Dibiase. Tatamka said all his life he had faced adversity and that was how he thrived. [U]Match 4 Tatanka vs Razor Ramon and IRS[/U] The three superstars repeated a very similar formula to their match at Summerslam, but noone minded as its quite a good one. The finish came when Razor and IRS accidentally collided and Tatanka hit the Indian Death Drop on IRS for the pin. [B]Winner: Tatanka[/B] After the match, Tatanka went through the crowd celebrating with the folk of Detroit, MI. Backstage, Jake Roberts was speaking with Ted Dibiase who was fuming about Tatanka's victory. Roberts asked why he wasn''t on Smackdown this week. Dibiase told him that instead he would wrestle on the debut of Velocity, as quite frankly he doesn't deserve any time on Smackdown. Roberts said he was a big enough name to warrant a slot in the main event. Dibiase told him he might get in the main event, if he ever won a match. Dibiase then told Roberts to get out of the building as he wasn't needed tonight. The Quebecers then appeared and sucked up to the Million Dollar Man, praising his decision to let them wrestle on the first ever Velocity. Crime and Punishment were backstage with Rob Bartlett. Batlett asked Repo Man and Nailz why they attacked The Raw Youth earlier. Nailz said that Fyodor Dostoevsky wrote several books, including Crime and Punishment and The Raw Youth. He claimed Crime and Punishment is the superior book and they would prove it. Repo Man then took the mic and said tonight they'd become number one contenders to the WWF Smackdown Tag Titles and then become the champs. [U]Match 5 Crime and Punishment vs Rock'n'Roll Express[/U] Good match for television. The Rock'n'Roll Express didn't get quite the reaction they got at Summerslam due to Smackdown being in Detroit and not Memphis, but they still got a decent pop. The Raw Youth interfered to payback the attack from Nailz and Repo Man earlier and caused Ricky and Robbie to get the victory and to become number one contenders [B]Winners: Rock'n'Roll Express[/B] We then cut to Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan at the announce table who spoke about Diesel's attack on Bob Backlund at Summerslam, which ended his carreer and left him in a coma. The cameras then showed Backlund in his coma at a local medical facility. Miraculously, Backlund regained conciousness in the 20 seconds he was on camera. The doctors rushed to his side to check whether he suffered brain damage, 'whats your name?' they asked 'Bob Backlund' came the reply. 'What year is it?' they asked, '1993' he replied. 'Who is the President of the United States Of America?'. Backlund paused and look confused before a big grin broke across his face 'I AM!' he yelled. Backstage, Diesel, Shawn Michaels and Miss Elizabeth were laughing about Bob Backlund's condition. Elizabeth spoke about how awful it was being married to the Macho Man, she said the only good thing about it was that it was through Savage that she met the 'love of her life', The Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels. She said Savage was past it and over the hill, whereas Michaels was just reaching his peak. A video was then shown on the Titantron in a similar style to Terminator 2. The video claimed a path of destruction was heading to the WWF and the Apocalypse was near. [U]Match 6 Macho Man Randy Savage vs Diesel and Shawn Michaels[/U] Savage and Michaels successfully covered for Diesel's lack of in ring talent and pulled off an interesting contest. Savage appeared furious and was dominant for most of the match until Elizabeth once again interfered and low blowed her ex husband, which led to a superkick from Shawn Michaels and another pinfall victory over the former WWF Champion. [B]Winners: Diesel and Shawn Michaels[/B] After the match, Diesel picked up Savage and held him up, forcing him to watch Elizabeth and Shawn Michaels kissing passionately as Smackdown went to commercials. After the break, the lights went out and the fans rose in anticipation of the entrance of The Phenom, The Undertaker. [U]Match 7 The Undertaker vs Jerry Lawler and Double J Jeff Jarrett[/U] A terrific contest with The Taker proving once again that he is the most over man in North American wrestling. The Undertaker hit a massive double chokeslam and pinned Lawler to finish their feud once and for all. [B]Winner: The Undertaker[/B] Instead of The Undertaker's music playing, Harvery Whippleman came out onto the stage. He said that Rick Steiner's move from Smackdown to Raw hadn't been free and in exchange he had moved over to Smackdown. The fans booed this as an anticlimax before Whippleman said he had no come alone. He told everyone that he had brought with him a man who had yet to debut on Raw, but was one of the most impressive WWF Superstars of all time. Whippleman told The Undertaker to turn around, he did so and saw PAPA SHANGO had come out from under the ring. Shango hit Taker with his big voodoo stick and played to the crowd as Smackdown went off the air. It is believed the WWF has offered contracts to Sting, Dustin Rhodes, Lord Steven Regal, Cactus Jack, The Great Muta, Michael PS Hayes, Diamond Dallas Page and The Hollywood Blondes (Steve Austin and Brian Pillman). A pretty average Smackdown this week, although we shouldn't really complain as the WWF is giving us Chris Benoit and Jerry Lynn on a weekly basis now. That said, it appears the WWF have actually gone ahead with the plan of making Benoit an ambiguously gay French Canadian lumberjack. How many WWF Champions have been ambiguously gay French Canadian lumberjacks? The teaming of Butler B.Ware and Virgil The Butler is pretty lazy and poor booking and a step back in time to the days where Virgil was Dibiase's butler. The worst thing about it is there appears to be no motivation for their turn whatsoever. The Beverley Boyz is a pretty lame name change and it seems like Beau and Blake are trying too hard to be cool, which will ultimately cause them to fail. Harvey Whippleman and Papa Shango's shock appearance on Smackdown was a particular highlight of the show and whilst a feud between Shango and Taker won't produce any five star classics, it's very likely to get the fans interested which is always a plus. It's likely that Shango and Whippleman will be revealed as the kidnappers of Taker's girlfriend Katie Vick in the coming weeks. The Terminator style vignette that played on Smackdown is likely to be for development talent Brian Lee, who will appear as Apocalypse, a hard man biker. Lee is The Undertaker's best friend and there is already some heat on him for apparently being fast tracked through the development system.
