<p>Sorry was out of it for a bit. Good stuff and enjoyed the promo’s. If I’m not too late, I’d like a Lisa Bowen (in character) promo or interview piece talking about her Bowen Services Corp. I think more spotlight on the top manager in the company would be interesting. Does she have an eye on anyone in CWL to join her group?</p><p> </p><p>

Brandon Smith has been winning recently, so he gets the vote. Though Logan Diaz returning and fighting his cousin? That sounds money</p><p> </p><p>

Observation. All my predictions are based on reading your shows, i didn't play TEW too much. </p><p> </p><p>

Question: How did you jump from 120000 viewers to over 2 million? I like the way you book, though i still think you are holding too much down the Devil's Rejects - they could be your main-event heels- , but that is a serious increase</p>

Damn , the Japanese have a TV deal. As feedback, i like it. I like the reality of the struggle of a booker of a smaller promotion and the optimism of Oxford. And i love McManus. It seems everyone casts him off while you made him the centerpiece of the company. Love it. I would like to see some reports, maybe Oxford's take on what is going on in developmental. MR: Hello and welcome to the sold out Lowe Ballroom for Thanksgiving Thunder! This is the sixth annual Thanksgiving Thunder and we are in for one heck of a show. Our main event? A grudge match for the ages as Ross Henry and Paul Huntingdon look to settle their score. The North American Tag Team and Women’s Championships are on the line as is the United States Championship. Ricky, Duke, what are you most looking forward to?</p><p> </p><p>

RDJ: I’m looking forward to seeing Ross Henry finally gives Paul Huntingdon the beating he deserves. Paul stole a victory in September and let Carl DiBiase take his beating in October -- so hopefully tonight is the night that Ross Henry will finally prove that money can’t buy everything.</p><p> </p><p>

DH: I can’t wait to see Cameron Vessey finally take the United States Championship from David Stone. Two straight draws. Now with a sixty minute time limit? Tonight’s the night that Cameron Vessey will become United States Champion. I can feel it!.</p><p> </p><p>

Opening Match</p><p>

30 Man Over-the-Top-Rope Battle Royale</p><p>

Winner Receives a North American Heavyweight championship Shot at Christmas Chaos</p><p> </p><p>

All thirty men started in the ring. It was definitely a crowded ring. There was a lot of star power in the match. The Mission was in the match. Des Davids. Mighty Cavanagh. Brandon Smith. Evil Dead. And so much more. Over the course of the match, Evil Dead really dominated with twelve eliminations. It came down to Davids, Smith, Dead, and Faith. When it was down to the four men, Faith and Evil Dead went right at each other and ended up eliminating one another. This left Davids and Smith. They went at it for a couple of minutes before Davids managed to eliminate Brandon Smith and punch his ticket for Christmas Chaos.</p><p> </p><p>

Des Davids won a battle royal in 20:06. The other members of the 'final four' were Bulldozer Brandon Smith, Evil Dead and Matty Faith, with Bulldozer Brandon Smith being the final elimination. Evil Dead got the most eliminations over the course of the match.</p><p>

We can hear the pounding of footsteps. The camera is bouncing. We are running. The camera shot rounds a corner and we see a brawl happening. We are not sure why it is happening, but we do know that KC Glenn and Riley McManus are full on brawling with Ox Mastadon and Jeffery Aroma. KC and Riley are smaller than the two big men, but are fighting like bulldogs… Georgia Bulldogs. Backstage security is quick to the scene to pull the four men apart.</p><p>

Alicia Strong versus Jaime Quine ©</p><p> </p><p>

In a rematch from Halloween Throwdown, Strong and Quine went at it. This was even better than their match in October -- and was actually the best women’s match the company has ever put on. Alicia Strong looked really on her game and looked like a star, just like her father. Quine, to her credit, also looked like a star and really flew around the ring for Alicia. An Angel Driver [Tiger Driver] was all she wrote and Alicia Strong is the new North American Women’s Champion.</p><p> </p><p>

Alicia Strong defeated Jaime Quine in 8:42 by pinfall with an Angel Driver. Alicia Strong wins the CWL North American Women's title. </p><p>

The Keith Brothers versus The Fallen w/ Father Grim</p><p> </p><p>

This match had been building for a few months. The Keith Brothers work excellently together as a team -- their growing up as twins probably helping that matter. Usually it is Matthew who looks the best in a match, but tonight, Greg was on fire. The Fallen isolated Matthew from Greg and worked him over. Scythe and Hellion -- who have known each other for many years -- worked well together as a team. They had some very nice power moves that they executed together including Scythe hitting Matthew with a big powerslam and Hellion hitting an immediate splash that almost got the three count.</p><p> </p><p>

Matthew made the hot tag to Greg and Greg came in hot. He hit a dropkicks -- the big men did not get slammed or suplexed -- to take both men down. The crowd came alive as Greg knocked Hellion off the ring apron and got Scythe down. Greg locked in the Proton Lock in the center of the ring. Scythe’s tree trunk like legs were not easy to knot together, but Greg managed it. Suddenly, Evil Dead hit the ring and hit a big boot on Greg Keith. The interference caused Darren Smith to call for the bell.</p><p> </p><p>

The Keith Brothers defeated Hellion and Scythe in 12:24 when Hellion was disqualified when Evil Dead ran in and attacked Greg Keith.</p><p>

MR: And now for some words from the North American Heavyweight Champion.</p><p> </p><p>

JD: I have the night off tonight. The night off because we had to learn who was going to challenge me at Christmas Chaos. It’ll be Des Davids. Spencer Spade, the so-called Supreme Star, who thinks he saved me -- he’s still on my list. I’m going to formally request that the match with Des Davids become a Triple Threat and also include Spencer Spade. I want to beat both of them in one night. I want to leave no doubt. No doubt that I… I am the man. That I am the Unstoppable Monster.”</p><p>

<img alt="YVV6cka.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YVV6cka.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<img alt="mgsmc0P.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mgsmc0P.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> w/ <img alt="9CEP5Gv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9CEP5Gv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="F4wLsLn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/F4wLsLn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Cameron Vessey w/ Lisa Bowen versus “The Canadian Wrestling Machine” David Stone ©</p><p> </p><p>

This was third big show match up between these two men. The previous two had ended in time limit draws. The first was a twenty minute draw that ended just before Cameron Vessey could get the three count. The second was a half hour draw that ended just before David Stone was able to make Cameron Vessey tap out.</p><p> </p><p>

This match continued the series of excellence between the two wrestlers with wrestling in their blood. This match started off slow. They didn’t need to feel each other out -- but they also knew that at a moments notice it could be a Vessey Driver II or a Stone Ankle Stretch and that would be the ballgame. </p><p> </p><p>

Stone controlled the match early on. He used some very impressive variations of the Greco-Roman knuckle lock for takedowns -- including a beautiful Greco Roman Knuckle Lock Suplex that he tried to transition into an arm bar.</p><p> </p><p>

Vessey managed to avoid any submission holds and with a timely distraction from Lisa Bowen, he used a closed fist (which is illegal in CWL) to stun David Stone and allow him to take control. Vessey went to work on the neck -- trying to soften up for the Vessey Driver II. He used a beautiful neckbreaker that he followed up with a Dragon Sleeper that Stone reversed into a pinfall attempt.</p><p> </p><p>

As the match continued, David Stone kept fighting back. He hit a beautiful Snap German Suplex. Vessey hit the mat and bounced back to his feet. Stone locked in a front guillotine that looked like it was about to make Vessey pass out, but vessey turned it into a modified Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall.</p><p> </p><p>

Vessey attempted the Vessey Driver II, but Stone slipped off his shoulders, single legged him and went for the Stone Ankle Stretch -- but Vessey pushed him away. The force of the push sent Stone into the ropes. When Stone bounced back, Vessey lifted him and quickly delivered a Vessey Driver II and made the cover. He got the three.</p><p> </p><p>

Cameron Vessey defeated David Stone in 33:44 by pinfall with a Vessey Driver II. Cameron Vessey wins the CWL United States title. </p><p>

The Fat Cats versus Clyde Puder & Jakob Yoder ©</p><p> </p><p>

The Fat Cats came out with the World Tag Team Championships. These were not on the line, but one could only assume that if Puder & Yoder won this match they could be in line for a World’s Tag Team Title match at a later date. Puder and Yoder had the distinct size advantage with each one being 6’10” and over 300 pounds.</p><p> </p><p>

The beginning of the match was all Puder and Yoder. The two big country boys used their size advantage on The Fat Cats to control the tempo and the pace. They showcased a new tag team move where Puder tagged in Yoder, and popped Carl DiBiase up into the air and Yoder hit a big headbutt on DiBiase before he hit the ground. That got a near fall.</p><p> </p><p>

DiBiase and Trescarde were able to seize control after a miscommunication between Puder and Yoder allowed DiBiase to send Yoder shoulder first into the corner post. Trescarde and DiBiase have been teaming together longer than Puder & Yoder and it showed now. Yoder did spend the better part of three years as RIPW Tag Team Champion, but Clyde had primarily been a singles wrestler and was out of position when Yoder probably needed him. Trescarde and DiBiase set in on Yoder. They didn’t slam him, they just chopped the mighty redwood to the mat and kept him down while they pounded on him. There was a spot where Yoder seemed to grab at his shoulder and chest. He managed to tag out and did not come back in for the rest of the match.</p><p> </p><p>

DiBiase and Trescarde flew around for the Hillbilly Hammer. Matty Faith came to ringside and Trescarde started to confront him -- but this left DiBiase alone to eat a Patriot Powerslam and for Puder & Yoder to successfully defend the North American Tag Team Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

In a decent match, Clyde Puder and Jakob Yoder defeated The Fat Cats in 17:31 when Clyde Puder defeated Carl DiBiase by pinfall with a Patriot Powerslam after a distraction from Matty Faith. Clyde Puder and Jakob Yoder make defence number 1 of their CWL North American Tag Team titles. </p><p> </p><p>

-Yoder suffered a broken collar bone</p><p>

MR: With his showdown with Paul Huntingdon moments away, Ross Henry has a few words for his opponent.</p><p> </p><p>

RH: Paul. For too long you’ve been running from me. For too long you have been hiding from me. You will not be able to hide any longer. In just a few moments, you’ll walk down that aisle. In just a few moments, you’ll get in the ring and it will be you and me. One on one. No Carl DiBiase. No Monty Trescarde. Killer Shark banned from ringside. Just you and I. Settling a score… Settling a debt. A man of your means should be used to that.</p><p>

“Mr. Colorado” Ross Henry versus “The Blueblood” Paul Huntingdon</p><p> </p><p>

The main event of the event. A grudge match that lived up to the hype. Henry dominated early on. His combination of power, aggression, and speed helped him take early control. A closed fist -- that got him a stern warning from Darren Smith -- got Huntingdon the match back in his control. Huntingdon went to work with the blend of old school heel tactics and charisma that helped propel him to stardom in the SWF (and then for a short while in SOTBW).</p><p>

Huntingdon did every old school heel trick he could think of. He choked Henry on the middle rope. He draped his leg over Henry’s throat while he argued with the referee. He dragged him across the top rope to give his face rope burn. It was textbook kind of work from Paul, but Ross kept powering up.</p><p> </p><p>

Eventually, Ross made the full comeback and the people really came alive as Ross hit a big Earthquake Powerslam and got the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

Ross Henry defeated Paul Huntingdon in 23:55 by pinfall with an Earthquake Powerslam.</p><p>

Ross Henry stands on the second rope. His arms are in the air. He has done it. He beat Paul Huntingdon in a great match where they really took it to one another. The crowd gasps as Killer Shark hits the ring. Henry gets off the second rope and turns around, only to get steam rolled by the enforcer of Money Talks. Shark unloads on the already worn down Henry, hitting him with several big body strikes. Sweat flies off Henry’s body with each blow. Shark lifts Henry up onto his shoulder and drives him down into the mat with his version of the Rikishi Driver. Shark stands over Henry as Thanksgiving Thunder goes off air.</p><p>

<p>Great Thanksgiving show. Glad to see you are making Ross Henry work for his spots. Often times I have seen him come into companies and he was immediately pushed to the top really fast. Here in the CWL, he is having to work for it and losing some but still moving forward.</p><p> </p><p>

How bad is the injury to Yoder?</p>

  • The run with Japanese Sports Vision 2 has come to an end and CWL has chosen not to renew the contract with them at this time in order to focus on their United States Expansion.
  • CWL has reached a deal with Hawaii 50 to broadcast monthly events as well as Saturday Night Slammasters.
  • Hugh Ancrie, Alexander Vasquez, Othello Morris, Rocky Weatherfield, Marie Punnen, and Thunder & Lightning have all been sent to TGL. It is not a punishment but rather a hopes that moving down to TGL will allow them to work the top of the card.
  • Kuniko Matsura, Sakura Sada, Yukiko Matsumara, Faith McGee, & Wendy Anderson have all been released from CWL. This was said to be because they were not connecting with the audiences in CWL.
  • Jonah Pilgrim and The Canadian Blondes has been released from CWL. The Blondes wanted to explore an opportunity with Canadian Golden Combat. Jonah Pilgrim will be returning to the independent wrestling scene.
  • Samoan Mafia [Charger, Malietoa, & Devil] have all been called up onto the main roster

Author's Note: So, after picking up Japanese Sports Vision 2 -- it created way too many viewers for where we should be -- and I didn't like that. We're expanding nationally but the bulk of our viewers were in Japan. So technically the deal didn't actually expire as much as I chose to end it and pick up a deal with Hawaii -- so that I could continue to get television exposure there and continue the organic build and national expansion. So in the story of the universe, it was because we were just finishing BHOTWG's run, but in reality it was me making the choice to end the deal and just get on Hawaii 50.

In the pipeline before the next show -- a Lisa Bowen narrative. An Alexander Vasquez narrative. A Gangsta Nation narrative and one over Robert Oxford reviewing developmental -- as all of these have been requested.

<p>Just an occasional reminder that I love this dynasty.</p><p> </p><p>

I assume Alexander Vasquez's narrative might have something to do with him being sent to TGL, which will be interesting. Always love some new characters to be provided with narratives.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm interested in the Samoan Mafia being called up, I always want to build an ever-expanding stable of dominant Samoans in my games, I just want the right way to go about it.</p><p> </p><p>

Weatherfield going away surely means a push for Adams. Also, not sure what it is about Othello Morris that I like, but I do, so hopefully his time in TGL will help him succeed.</p><p> </p><p>

Anyway, amazing stuff, looking forward to the narratives!</p>

<p>I'm calling it now, Samoan Mafia vs Gangsta Nation feud:rolleyes:</p><p> </p><p>

As CobheadJake said above, I'm interested to see a narrative connected with Vasquez's move to TGL. I'm getting serious Naito vibes off his story, the guy who was pushed too soon, didn't click and went away to reinvent himself.</p><p> </p><p>

Cancelling the deal makes no sense from a mechanical point of view as you're giving up on income from Japanese sponsors and merchandise while your popularity there withers, but I understand the narrative aspect of it. In my LondonVerse diary as NY-based ESW I purchased a lucha libre promotion for their TV deal and the identity schism ended up killing my save and diary, so I'm in full support of your decision to go with the company's organic development.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

P.S. The Sickle out-performed both Southern Stars? <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Alexander Vasquez ran the blade of his Old Hickory butcher knife over the sharpener several times. He wanted the blade to be as sharp as possible. A sharp knife was key. He’d had this particular knife since he was eleven. His grandfather had given it to him.</p><p> </p><p>

Alexander turned to look at the two hundred and seventy five pound hog on the cold steel table in front of him. Alexander’s grandfather had been a butcher. He was a butcher in Guatemala before he fled the Civil War in the late 1970s after the rest of his family had been massacred. His grandfather rarely talked about the life he had left behind. The family that had been taken from him. His grandparents had come to the United States with nothing but his grandfather’s skill with a butcher knife. He had become a butcher in the States. Managed to buy a small piece of land where he raised pigs and chickens that he would butcher -- but he would also butcher cows for ranchers.</p><p> </p><p>

As a way to make side money, he had started selling some cooked dishes. Traditional Guatemalan cuisine. Pepián de indio. Caldo de gallina, Kak'ik, Subanik. Food that he had grown up eating. It had proved popular and his grandfather had leveraged that into a full restaurant. His father now ran that same restaurant. Traditional Guatemalan cuisine.</p><p> </p><p>

Alexander drove his knife into the pig. His grandfather had taught him the art of butchering. How to keep each cut of meat separate. The difference between the loin and the belly and the back and the hocks. Even though Alexander was a professional wrestler -- and a good one -- this was his happy place. A knife and a pig. A knife and a cow. A deer. An elk. A moose. Whatever. Just himself and the need to butcher it. To take a whole animal and turn it into food. Most people turned their nose at this kind of work. They didn’t want to know how the sausage was made -- literally. They didn’t want to know that to make bacon you took strips of meat from the side of the pig. They wanted to go to the grocery store and buy the cellophane wrapped meat and not think about it, but Alexander *knew* where it came from. He could make it himself. He appreciated it. He understood the gift the animals were giving him. </p><p> </p><p>

Alexander had just had a conversation with Robert Oxford. He had been told he was being sent to Amarillo, Texas to work in the Texas Grappling League. Alexander did not understand. He was a good hand. He had developed in the ring. He had twice been United States Champion. He had been the COTT World Junior Heavyweight Champion. Robert phrased it that it was not a punishment. </p><p> </p><p>

“We need to retool you, kid.” He had said. Alexander kind of understood it. He had started his career under a hood. Blue Tiger. An almost mythic style character. It didn’t click. It didn’t fit. Under his real name, he still hadn’t found his footing. The crowd was lukewarm to him at best. He was a good wrestler. A good hand. He didn’t want to be a good hand. He didn’t want to just be in a ring and put someone else over. He wanted to be something. He wanted to connect. </p><p> </p><p>

“You’re going to go to Texas. Work out some character stuff. See what we can come up with. See if we can find something that sticks. Something that will separate you from everyone else. “ Robert had explained. Robert was an honest man. Alexander had learned that. He trusted Robert. He had always been straight with him, but it still hurt. </p><p> </p><p>

Alexander continued working through the pig. He continued to work on separating cuts of meat. Separating the legs -- where the bulk of ham came from. He was not happy about it. He did not want to go, but he would. He would do what he was asked. He would work hard. He would try to find a character or a personna or a part of himself that he could turn up to one hundred to make him reach the connection he needed to be the star he wanted to be. His grandfather had fled a civil war and built a business. He would do this.</p>

Lisa stretched and yawned. She was exhausted. She had been incredibly busy recently. Her Bowen Service group had Spencer Spade, Ox Mastadon, Cameron Vessey, Andrew Harper and looked like it was also adding Jeffery Aroma to the squad and potentially one more. This meant that she was often working two or three times a night. Before Brandon James retired, there were nights where she was out there three times. During Gold Rush VI, she was out to the ring eight times in two nights. People don’t understand how tiring managing can be. It could be downright exhausting. You had to have high energy levels. Had to move around a lot. She often had to do it in heels or heeled boots. She cut promos. She made all the house shows. She was essential to her groups presentation. She wasn’t optional. She loved it, but sometimes she was exhausted at the end of the night. This was one of those nights.</p><p> </p><p>

Most people knew that Lisa was the daughter of Runaway Train. Barry Bowen. Most people assumed that they were close -- they weren’t. She had grown up with him being gone most of the time. She didn’t begrudge him that. It just meant that she was much closer to her mom. He worked four days a week. A half day to travel home, one full day home, another half day to travel to get ready for a night’s work. She didn’t get much time with him, but nonetheless she had wanted to follow in his footsteps. She didn’t want to wrestle though. She didn’t want to take bumps every night and all of that. That part had never appealed to her. She’d take the occasional bump if the situation required it, but she didn’t want to work full matches.</p><p> </p><p>

She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. Robert had entrusted her with a lot of responsibility. She was the top manager in the company. She had managed Primus Allen to two Heavyweight title and one World Title reigns. She had managed the Ring General to two World Tag Team and two company tag team championships. Ox Mastadon had won the tag titles, the Gold Rush, and the Heavyweight Championship under her tutelage. She had managed Atlas to a Heavyweight Championship reign, the Gods of Thunder to a World Tag Team reign and Cameron Vessey to the United States Championship. Thirteen Championship reigns she had managed guys since she joined the company in 2017. She was proud of her accomplishments. She had worked for Mid Atlantic Wrestling and now Continental Wrestling League. She had really developed into a useful, versatile manager. She also made appearances. She talked to local radio DJs. She had learned how to be useful in that sense. When she first started, promos were not her strong suit. She was attractive and energetic around the ring but she wasn’t a great promo. Now she could cut a good one. She could add to a good promo for those of her clients that could cut a good promo.</p><p> </p><p>

She had also learned how to put a match together. She helped with finishes. She was really becoming versatile. She also knew she was about to get another big client that was going to give her even more screen time. Even more time to be a featured player. Bowen Services was developing nicely. </p><p> </p><p>

She took a big drink from the bottle of water she had next to her. Hydration was important when you were out in front of the lights for as much as she was out there -- sometimes an hour or more. On a two hour show, that was essentially half the show where she was out there. She had never dreamed she would be working so much. It had gone from once a month to three or four times a week. She now understood why her father had barely been home. She understood the bug. The high that came from the crowd and their reactions. </p><p> </p><p>

“You ready?” She looked up and her husband was there in street clothes. She had worked across from him a few times but looked like she was gearing up for a program against him -- where it would be him versus a few of her charges. She was excited.</p><p> </p><p>

“Yeah. I am.” She said as she stood up and grabbed her bag. Her father had warned her that the wrestling business was addictive. She hadn’t believed him at first, but it turns out he was right.</p>

<p>Thanks for doing the Lisa Bowen promo. It’s nice to get a little color on someone that while not in the ring is a pretty big performer for the company and has been there a long time. It should be interesting to see her charges going up against her husband although it would have been fun to see her try and recruit him at some point. Maybe down the road someday</p><p> </p><p>

Hey I must have missed it but whatever happened to streetz? I don’t think I have ever seen him in the Cverse before was he a trainee?</p>

The men known as Gangsta Nation -- sans Brother G -- sat around a card table playing a modified three man version of spades. You're supposed to have four people to play spades, but there were only the three of them so they were playing with modified rules.</p><p> </p><p>

Each man had been wrestling for over a decade with Sayeed Ali having seventeen years in the business. He was thirty five. He had spent fifteen of his seventeen year career with 4C. The New Yorker had become a cult favorite. He had five 4C Championship reigns, a PWW Heavyweight and PWW Tag Team reign, and a WPL Tag Team reign under his belt. With the GWC World Six Man titles, that gave him nine titles in seventeen years, but he had never had television exposure. Never had the opportunity to prove that he could be a major asset for a company that was making a national push. He could cut a solid promo. He could brawl. He was willing to bleed when necessary. He was't a garbage, deathmatch worker. He didn't just fall through light tubes and get slammed onto thumb tacks. He was hardcore in a way that would have kept DAVE afloat. Hardcore for the story. Bloody brawls that got bloody because it was a brawl between two men trying to win something. Sayeed was proud of that. He was also a devout Muslim and despite his on-screen character of a thug, he was relatively reserved in real life. He fasted when he was supposed to. He prayed. He spoke fluent Arabic. He had a mosque he regularly attended. He considered himself to be a good man. He was a good wrestler who was finally getting a real break. He was not going to blow it.</p><p> </p><p>

Hustle Muvva was from Atlanta. He had charisma. He was okay on the stick as long as he wasn't asked to stray too far from who he really was. He could brawl. He could get flashy and he was willing to take bumps. He'd also been a WPL Champion, but also a IPW California and two time IPW Champion who also worked some for GSW and won the King of California tournament. He had worked six years for IPW followed by two years for GSW, some time on the indies, and then a dual stint in CZCW and IPW once more. He had a reputation for being dependable and jovial and really wanted to make something of himself in the wrestling business. This was also his opportunity. He didn't have 'star' written all over him. Not at any national level. He was a good hand. A good guy to have on the crew. He'd be a good midcarder -- but more importantly, he *knew* this about himself. Some guys held dreams of being a star when they shouldn't, Hustle wasn't one of them. He knew what he was. He was thirty-four years old. Twelve years in the business. He could be United States Champion -- maybe with some momentum even a challenger for the North American Championship, but he wasn't top guy material. He wasn't going to put an ass every eighteen inches in buildings big enough for that to matter, but he could help and he wanted to help. When Robert Oxford called and told him he was going to give him a shot, he was surprised. He had worked for Texas Grappling League for a few months -- but not under a developmental contract. This was when TGL allowed non-developmental workers to work there. He had nine matches there. Every last match he had was considered at least three stars by the wrestling press. Over the last six years he had eighty-seven matches that were rated by the wrestling press -- this didn't include any house show matches or his local indy shots -- those eighty seven matches averaged three stars. He even had a four star match with Frantic Ali. He knew he was a good hand, but he also knew at thirty-four stardom probably wasn't going to come calling his name.</p><p> </p><p>

Cali Slick was a different story. Also thirty-four, he should be a star for an organization. He had the 'It' factor and most importantly, he could really go in the ring. He was a sensational brawler who was also willing to bleed and also understood the business. He could sell. He could put a match together. He could make it mean something. He'd found success in GSW, IPW, and CZCW before coming to CWL and finding success in the trio. He'd had singles success and tag success. He could be something. Nine championship reigns in eleven years. He wanted to prove that he was more than just a hardcore brawler. He wanted to prove that he could transcend hardcore -- just like Eddie Peak and Brandon James did. He wanted to follow in their footsteps. Guys who came from a hardcore background but really proved themselves, really proved that they belonged. He believed that he could be a star. He could be a t the top of the card. He saw it in his hand. Ross Henry versus Cali Slick. Riley McManus versus Cali Slick. His name on the top of the marquees. He just had to get there -- but he was determined to do so.</p><p> </p><p>

Gangsta Nation played the role of street thugs. Gangstas who have come to CWL to cheat and fight and mess people up. Guys who were determined to wreak havoc on an old-school organization. They were perfect heels. Brother G provided a great manager for them. The sky was the limit for the trio.</p>

<p>Love the Gangsta Nation narrative, and the others tbf.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm gonna route for Cali Slick to get to the top of the card now. Maybe it'll be a New Day-esque thing where the other members all try to push for Slick to get to the top. Looking forward to seeing where they all go, especially as you have proven in this diary to push people to the top that most people wouldn't, and its worked wonders for you.</p>

I sat with the report in my hand. Every quarter, I asked Joel for who he thought our best developmental prospects were. Who were guys who should be on the main roster, or if they were called up who could really do well. When I say every quarter, that's not really fair. Texas Grappling League had only been active since April. They didn't run any shows in April or in October -- those were months I had given them off. Other than that, they ran nine shows a month. I had received a report at the end of July/beginning of August and this was the follow up report. Who was impressing the staff down there?</p><p> </p><p>

The bulk of the TGL roster were guys that had been up with me before. Floyd Reeves was a top guy. The Sickle. The Cummos. The Can-Am Blondes. They had a lot of guys that I knew very well, but they also had guys that we had signed because I thought they could be something. Right now, that is who I was most interested in. I wanted guys like Steven Stewart and Taylor Holemore to develop more, to become better workers, but I also wanted reports on talents who I hadn't personally booked -- I wanted to know what they were capable of. I knew that the guys in developmental were going to have to come up and replace guy on my roster that would be leaving. That was the nature of the business so these scouting reports were incredibly important.</p><p> </p><p>

I flipped open the manila folder to the first page of the report -- and yes, I still liked to get my reports the old fashioned way. Printed out. It was easier to make notes on that way.</p><p> </p><p>

Clinton Westybrook is the current Texas Heavyweight Champion. He's six feet six inches, three hundred thirteen pounds. A former champion weight lifter, Westybrook became a professional wrestler after his professional bodybuilding career wound down. He's a natural heel. He does not have a lot of acting chops and needs to stick to more legitimate, no nonsense kind of characters He has a wicked finisher -- the Strong Slam [Dominator] that he uses very effectively. </p><p> </p><p>

Tim London is a product of the Mid Atlantic Bootcamp. He's six feet tall and two hundred thirty four pounds. He's currently a midcarder for us, but he's got a lot of potential. He's developing nicely and could really become something with some time. He's still young and the more he works, the better he will be. His 'Riptide Crusher' [Tower of London] is a very good finish that really gets a good reaction from the crowd.</p><p> </p><p>

Margaret Deely</p><p>

Age: 22</p><p>

Years Pro: 1</p><p>

Hometown: Adelaide, Australia</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Margaret Deely is a former Texas Women's Champion -- having just lost the belt to Beatrice Martinez. She's a cruiserweight style wrestler and a product of the Coastal Zone Academy -- but they don't use women on their shows so they didn't have anything for her to do. At five feet eight inches, she's got great height. She's a natural babyface that the crowd really gets behind, particularly young females in the audience. She's got a great Crescent Kick finish that she can literally hit on anyone at anytime which adds some definite excitement to her matches.</p><p> </p><p>

Age: 22</p><p>

Years Pro: 2</p><p>

Hometown: Lewisburg, West Virginia</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Floyd is one of your graduates, obviously. We are using him as one of our top guys and he has really done well. He's a technician that is coming into his own. His strength is his promos, which really are in a league of his own. He, along with Clinton and Luis Cummo have the most potential to be big stars in the future.</p>

<p>Author's Note:</p><p> </p><p>

The first shows of December should be up tonight. I did just update the 'Story So Far'. It's a work in progress. My goal there is to capture important moments in the story/our progress for new readers to have and for even experienced readers to be able to read through and get a refesher -- because we are about to end our sixth full year and have produced well over one hundred shows at this point so some stuff can be hard to keep track of.</p>
