MR: Hello and welcome to Independence! What a line up we have for you tonight. We will crown the first ever six-man champions. The Tag Titles are on the line. Riley McManus an KC Glenn go toe to toe for the first time ever and in our main event, Ross Henry and Des Davids will fight to see who gets a chance at the World's Title at Gold Rush!

RDJ: I've been in Ross' shoes before. A street fight. A chance at a title. It's a big night for the young man who is still only five years into his professional career. Davids is a sixteen year pro. Ross has his work cut out for him tonight.

DH: And when Des Davids is done with him, he's going to have to find a new line of work!

The Dojo Bros [Clyde Puder, Othello Morris, and ???) versus Gangsta Nation [Cali Slick, Sayeed Ali, and Hustle Muvva]

Gangsta Nation was out first to, funny enough, “Gangsta Nation” by Westside Connection. On the surface, Ali, Slick, and Muvva don’t seem to fit with the normal cast of characters that populate Continental Wrestling League but all three of them are talented brawlers and while they have been known to bleed and have a willingness to be in violent matches are also able to tone the blood down and just have a good old fashioned fist fight -- which fits right in with the product that CWL presents. Plus, it does add a little bit of a different kind of flavor to the menu.

Next out is Othello Morris followed by Clyde Puder. The third person does not come out right away. Instead, Puder and Morris get down to the ring and then both point back at the ramp where… THE MENNONITE MAMMOTH JAKOB YODER pushes the curtain aside and stands there.

2NhBQ8m.jpg

It has been almost five full years since Yoder was last seen in a CWL ring. He gets a great reaction as he joins his fellow Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling graduates in the ring.

Yoder started the match and started off like a house of fire. Slick, Ali, and Muvva all took big bumps for Yoder and helped him get reestablished with the audience. Yoder tagged in Puder who also got a bunch of offense in. Puder tagged in Morris -- the smallest on the Dojo team and Morris started out hot He had Slick in a world of trouble but when he hit the ropes, Muvva caught him with a forearm to the back of the neck that looked like it dazed him and allowed Slick to go to work.

Now Slick, Ali, and Muvva were able to shine. Slick and Muvva were standouts for Grimm SoCal Wrestling (with Slick probably being the best overall performer they had) while Ali had been the backbone of the 4C roster for a long time. They were all frustrated that they had not gotten a break with a bigger organization and in this match, on this night, they showcased that frustration on Morris who took the asswhoopin’ of a lifetime.

At one point, Slick tagged in Ali and then Slick and Muvva ran across the ring and attacked Yoder and Puder. The four of them spilled to the ringside area to brawl while in the ring, Sayeed Al hit Othello Morris with the G.B.H. Driver [Double Underhook Piledriver] and got the pinfall to make Gangsta Nation the first World Six Man Champions.

Gangsta Nation (Cali Slick, Sayeed Ali and Hustle Muvva) defeated Clyde Puder, Othello Morris and Jakob Yoder in 11:36 when Sayeed Ali defeated Othello Morris by pinfall with a G.B.H. Driver.

Amber Allen versus Missy Masterson ©

Amber Allen is one of the finest technical wrestlers, regardless of gender, on the planet and is a former two-time North of the Border Women’s Champion. Before CWL picked her up, she had been working the independent scene and getting rave reviews. Masterson had been employed by USPW but at 36 they thought she had become expendable. Perhaps she had to them, but at Independence both women decided that they wanted to put on a mat classic and they did.

They went hold for hold, showcasing some of the best technical wrestling on the planet. Amber dominated the majority of the match -- which is different than the normal ‘shine-heat-comeback’ style of match that is the norm. In this match, Amber used her chain wrestling and some great holds to try to wear down the Women’s Champion. She hit a fisherman’s suplex that almost got a three count and immediately followed that up with a guillotine choke that was in so deep even Pamela O’Neil would have given up, but Masterson did not give up.

Instead she got her knees under her and got to her feet and turned the choke into a Northern Lights Suplex that almost got a three count In kicking out, Amber had to release the submission and Masterson was able to get her breath back and then go on the offensive Eventually, Masterson hit her Identity Crisis and got the three count in order to retain in a very good match -- the best women’s match the company has had.

Missy Masterson defeated Amber Allen in 10:33 by pinfall with an Identity Crisis. Missy Masterson makes defence number 1 of her CWL North American Women's title.

“The Nightmare” Scythe w/ Father Grim versus “The Return of the Monster” James Diaz ©

It was the second match up of these two massive men. In the first matchup, Scythe got disqualified. That was before he had Father Grim in his corner. Diaz did not look afraid or intimidated however and the two massive men had a hard hitting affair that showcased both men’s power. Scythe hit several chokeslam variations -- living up to his moniquer of being the Master of the Chokeslam, while Diaz showed his raw power but holding Scythe in a stalling suplex -- for THIRTY SECONDS!.

Diaz let of some blistering strikes that would have made his father proud and probably made Mito Miwa’s knees tremble in remembrance of what Diaz’s father did to him all those years ago in Japan. Diaz had Scythe set up for the Death by Diaz when the lights went out. When the lights came on, Grim was arguing with Darren Smith and Diaz was in the air because “American Hellspawn” Hellion was in the ring and hitting Diaz with his Devolution Bomb. Hellion quickly excited the ring and Scythe picked Diaz up and hit him with a massive Chokeslam as Smith turned around and counted the pin.

Scythe defeated James Diaz in 12:11 by pinfall with a Choke Slam following interference from Hellion. Scythe wins the CWL United States title.

We are taken backstage where Riley McManus is putting on wrist tape. His ever-present bodyguard Jeffery Aroma looms over him. McManus looks up at Aroma.

RM: Tonight, I don’t want you to get involved. I’ve got this myself. I need to prove to KC that I was the best half of our tag team. I need to prove to him -- and the world -- that I’m still the best wrestler Continental Wrestling League has ever seen. To do that, I need you to not get involved and let the match happen how it happens.

JA: If that’s what you want.

Riley nodded and continue tapping his wrists.

Alexander Vasquez & David Stone versus The Devil’s Rejects w/ February Malaise ©

Alexander Vasquez & David Stone are a relatively new team while The Devil’s Rejects have been teaming since 2018 when they made their professional debuts. In the three full years they have been teaming, they have won the North American Tag Team Championship on three occasions, the COTT World Tag Team Championship once, and even were the 2020 Oxford Invitational winners. They also have significant size advantages over both Vasquez and Stone.

This was an excellent match. The epitome of tag team wrestling and really showcased the strengths of both teams Early in the match, Stone & Vasquez used their speed and lightning fast technical wrestling to isolate and work on Johnny Anderson -- who while still a heavyweight was smaller than Keith Holly. Anderson had to resort to a nasty eye rake on Vasquez to create the separation needed to bring in Holly. With Holly in -- the Rejects took control and worked over Vasquez. They hit him with lots of double team moves and big slams. After each slam they went for the pin only to have Vasquez continue to kick out.

Vasquez was able to duck under a big clothesline and dive towards Stone for the tag. Stone hit both members of the Rejects with German Suplexes -- and those brought the crowd off their feet in the sold out Lowe Ballroom. Stone completely took over the match and had Holly looking like he was out of it. Stone tagged in Vasquez and they hit a double snap suplex. As Stone got on the apron, Johnny Anderson popped up from out of nowhere and yanked him off the ring apron and hit him with a clothesline that turned him inside out.

Inside the ring, Vasquez was setting up for his Side Blaster [Zig Zag] and right as he went for it, February Malaise jumped onto the apron and he stopped short. He went to yell at her, but got caught by Keith Holly and a vicious Reaper Breaker. Holly made the pin.

The Devil's Rejects defeated Alexander Vasquez and David Stone in 13:57 when Keith Holly defeated David Stone by pinfall with a Reaper Breaker after February Malaise interfered. The Devil's Rejects make defence number 2 of their CWL North American Tag Team titles.

“Bulldozer” Brandon Smith versus Mighty Cavanagh

It was a hard hitting affair between two big hosses. Cavanagh had cut his teeth with the Stones. Where everything had to be snug and tight and there was no room for error. While Smith had gotten his break in Mid Atlantic -- he had blossomed into the worker he had become in Japan where he got to showcase that strong style that Japan had come to love and expect from big heavyweight gaijin.

Neither man went down easy. There weren’t a lot of slams in this match. It was mostly big strikes that would drop one to a knee before the other fought back up. It was a back and forth contest that ended when Bulldozer hit Cavanagh with a Backdrop Driver and got the pin.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Mighty Cavanagh in 12:13 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.

KC Glenn versus “The Cornerstone” Riley McManus w/ Jeffery Aroma

KC Glenn and Riley McManus had been The Georgia Bulldogs. They had won the initial Oxford Invitational and to this day have the most successful defenses of the North American Tag Team Championship. They were an excellent team but both men wanted to prove who was the better in their team. They split because KC went back to Japan -- and that caused Riley to have a change in attitude and become much more bitter about how he was treated and how he was featured.

This match was truly spectacular. KC had built a reputation as an amazing performer -- one that had started in a little building in Baltimore, Maryland while Riley had built his reputation in CWL. He had carved his name out of the Rockies. Proven himself to be blue collar. Hard working. Dedicated. He had become one of the most consistent performers in the world and tonight, with 5,000 people watching, KC and Riley went about tearing the house down.

KC started off hot early and Riley took control after dropping KC throat first on the top rope. Riley’s offense focused on the neck. He wanted to get KC ready for that Slingshot Suplex. KC refused to let Riley get in long strings of offense; however, and kept fighting out of holds. At one point, he hit a pele kick on Riley that looked like it knocked him out but when KC came in for the pin, Riley rolled him up and got a near fall.

Riley went for the Slingshot Suplex but KC used the momentum of the Slingshot to land on his feet. KC went for the Tune Up the Sunshine Band, but Riley blocked it and pulled KC in for a Crossface Chickenwing, but KC immediately dropped to the mat and rolled away. He came up to his feet and ducked a lariat from Riley. When Riley turned around, KC again went for the Tune Up the Sunshine Band, and he connected. But in connecting, Riley was driven into Darren Smith and Darren was driven back into the turnbuckle. KC went to check on the referee and the crowd began to boo because Jeffery Aroma had entered the ring. KC turned around and Aroma started grinning. KC looked around and then shrugged and put his hands up like he was ready for a fight. Aroma came charging in and KC rolled under his outstretched arms -- but McManus would not be as lucky. He got hit full force by the 376 pounder. Aroma’s eyes went wide and he turned around and ate his own Tune up the Sunshine Band.

Darren Smith began to stir and Riley used the ropes to pull himself to his feet. Riley turned around and ate another Tune Up the Sunshine Band and KC made the pin and Smith counted one, two, three.

KC Glenn defeated Riley McManus in 14:20 by pinfall with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band following botched interference by Jeffery Aroma.

LTiTJNd.jpg

GNkzKok.jpg

With KC out of the ring, Riley pulled himself to his feet. The look on his face said it all. He was incredibly disappointed. Aroma was now standing ringside having just gotten back to their feet. Riley looked over at Aroma.

RM: I told you to stay out of it!

JA: I was just trying to help!

RM: I didn’t want your help. You ruined the whole thing. You didn’t follow instructions.

JA: I don’t care about instructions. My job is to watch your back. I was doing my job.

RM: Watching my back isn’t getting involved in my matches when I ask you not to. It’s making sure other people don’t get involved in my matches.

JA: Screw you, Riley. I’ve had your back when no one else would. You ungrateful bastard.

RM: Screw me? I had something to prove! I’ve been telling people who I am and what I stand for and I wanted to prove it. I wanted to prove it tonight. You took that away from me.

Jeffery Aroma just walked away and Riley sat down in the ring before shaking his head and heading up the ramp.

The Keith Brothers versus Brandon James & Cameron Vessey w/ Lisa Bowen

James and Vessey -- two members of Bowen Services had decided they wanted to target the Keith Brothers. The Keiths had decided they didn’t much like being targeted and it got us to right here.

Unfortunately, James and Vessey were not meant to be tag team partners and their lack of chemistry and being in sync was apparent. The Keith Brothers, probably by nature of being twins, were incredibly in sync while James and Vessey -- both very accomplished wrestlers in their own right, were never able to build a rhythm.

Eventually Matthew was able to isolate Brandon and lock him in the Proton Lock. Brandon had no choice but to submit.

The Keith Brothers defeated Brandon James and Cameron Vessey in 14:36 when Matthew Keith defeated Brandon James by submission with a Proton Lock.

“Since you got here, Des, you’ve targeted me. You’ve made it your mission to come for me. You’ve wanted my blood. You’ve had a chip on your shoulder. You’ve acted like it was my fault you aren’t where you want to be in life. You’ve acted like it was my fault your back went out and you couldn’t play pro ball. It wasn’t my fault. You acted like it’s my fault you haven’t been World’s Champion before -- but it ain’t my fault. You picked a bone with me, not the other way around. You said you wanted to dance with me, not the other way around. But tonight, I’mma finish it. Tonight in a street fight -- where anything goes -- I’m gonna finish what you started. There will be no excuses. There will be no blame. There will just be my fist and your face. It ain’t gonna be pretty, but it don’t have to be.”

“Mr. Colorado” Ross Henry versus Des Davids

This was another stand out match. Both men proved they they are legitimate main event stars and could be major players for any of the big organization. But they are here. In Continental Wrestling and they beat the hell out of each other.

Kendo sticks, steel chairs, the guard rails, the ring bell -- it was all used. They held nothing back. The crowd was on their feet for the vast majority. Des Davids hit a snap suplex off the apron to the floor that looked devastating. He also hit a spear that dented the guard rail. It didn’t break it -- the guard rail is specifically designed NOT to break, but it dented the metal around Ross Henry’s body.

Davids set a table up and went to put Ross through it, but Ross countered and spinebusters Davids through it. The crowd roared with approval. This had been an excellent show and Henry and Davids were capping it off with a hard hitting contest that was leaving nothing back.

Finally, in the ring, Henry hit the Earthquake Powerslam to get the victory and the crowd roared their approval for the former professional football player. Tonight in the Lowe Ballroom he had earned their respect. He had taken an ass-whooping from Des Davids. There were red welts all over his back from where Davids had driven the bamboo of the kendo stick into his body. The guard rail was dented. A chair had been broken over his back -- but Ross had taken it all and kept fighting. He had put Davids through a table. He had belly-to-belly suplexed him into the ring steps.

And now… Ross Henry had a date with the GWC World Heavyweight Champion, Gino Montero.

Ross Henry defeated Des Davids in a 1 vs 1 - Street Fight match in 21:25 by pinfall with an Earthquake Powerslam.

Great show, as always! I almost predicted Aroma to cost Riley the match with KC, wish I'd typed it now! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The bell rang to end Ross Henry and Des Davids physical war and I stood to my feet. I knew -- without having to log on to any of the wrestling media, that we had just witnessed a special show. This had been the best show we had ever put on. KC and Riley, the Tag Title Match, and Ross and Davids in the main event had all been instant classics. Matches that would stand the test of time. Ross’ promo before his match was the single best promo we had ever presented. He was motivated tonight and it came across.</p><p> </p><p>

Tonight was also the night we officially welcomed Jakob back into the fold. Jakob was the very first graduate of the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling. The six foot ten, three hundred and fifty-nine pound man was originally dubbed “The Mennonite Mammoth.” He was the replacement for Jebediah. I had put him on the hot streak. He had been an early project and had gone to the finals of the Gold Rush tournament where he and Hellion had a slug fest. That was five years ago. They had both left. They had both been lured to the Eisen Empire by the money and the promise of stardom.</p><p> </p><p>

That was five years ago. Tonight they both returned. I was more excited about Jakob than Hellion. Don’t get me wrong. Hellion was an excellent grab. He was big and strong and would make a good partner for Scythe, but Jakob had been the original graduate. Having he and Clyde in the fold again meant that I could rest easy. Jakob had been stuck in Rhode Island Pro Wrestling despite his ability. He was an excellent brawler who had underrated promo ability. Sure, he had been USA Champion there and had spent almost three years as one half of the tag titles -- but he had only defended the titles four times in three years. That was laughable. That was a waste of his talent He should have been featured. Pushed to the moon. He could have been the next big star. He had the size that was an Eisen wet dream. But then again, they had never really known how to maximize talent.</p><p> </p><p>

They didn’t build Sam Strong -- they took him and he ran with it. They didn’t build Sam Keith. Or Jack Bruce. Or Skull DeBones. Or Brandon James. They had tried to build Frehely and he left. The only one they had built was Christian Faith. The rest they had taken. Even Rocky, their current ace, they had taken him from TCW, just like they just signed Aaron Andrews from USPW. They took talent that had already gotten over, they couldn’t get their own talent over.</p><p> </p><p>

That’s why Scythe left. Hellion left again. Jakob left. They let go of the most talented and I was reaping the benefit. Jakob and Hellion would be built into stars once again They would be here while we expanded nationally. I was building an army. I did not like the way BriCo was mismanaging TCW. They were still around, but they were a shell of themselves. Packer and Eisen? Dante reserved a special circle of hell for the likes of them. This was the business that I loved. The business that had bought me homes. Cars. Paid for my kids school. When I started Rocky Mountain Wrestling I had no eyes on national expansion. That had changed over the years when I saw an opening. Now I was hungry for the national spotlight. Not for my own ego -- I was comfortable with what I had accomplished, but for the benefit of all of the guys who had been cast off. Forgotten about. Not allowed to succeed on the other platforms. I wanted to give them a platform to become national stars.</p><p> </p><p>

Tonight we had done the best show we had ever done. I was proud. Proud of what we had accomplished and eager for what was coming up next.</p>

The first announced competitor from one of the GWC organizations is:

aRZq0XL.jpg

Yoshimi Mushashibo

Yoshimi Mushashibo is regarded by many wrestling historians as the greatest wrestler, if not of all time, at least of the last twenty-five years. He has spent his entire career with Pride Glory Honor Wrestling and is unequivocally the top wrestler they have ever had. Even though he is still an active wrestler, he is already a member of the PGHW Hall of Fame and the Hall of Immortals due to his tag team with Shuji Inuaki. He and Inuaki won the PGHW Glory Crown Tag Title on one occasion but won the Elite Tag Team Series on five occasions -- Mushashibo has one it six times because in 2017 he won it with Kozue Kawashimi. He and Shuji Inuaki were also the winners of the 2010 Tag Team of the Year.

As a solo competitor, Mushashibo is a three time winner of the Elite Series and a five time Glory Crown winner. He also is the 2007 and 2008 wrestler of the year. In his twenty-seventh year as a professional, Yoshimi has yet to make an appearance in North America. His appearance in the Gold Rush tournament marks the first time he has crossed the Pacific as a competitor. A noted technician, while Mushashibo is not the athlete he was fifteen years ago, he is still incredibly dangerous and on any given night he can beat any wrestler in the world. Whoever draws Mushashibo in the Gold Rush tournament is in for the fight of their lives.

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed edition of Saturday Night Slammasters! We are officially on the road to Gold Rush. "Bulldozer" Brandon Smith is the number one seed -- but earlier tonight it was announced that Japanese wrestling legend Yoshimi Mushashibo would also be entering the tournament.

RDJ: That's a great score for Gold Rush. Yoshimi has never worked in the United States and what a great place for him to make his American debut. Gold Rush.

DH: I hate to admit it, but he might be the odds on favorite to win the tournament now.

I can neither confirm nor deny anything

At least we got names for the tag promo. If I understood correctly, the first promo was Ox Mastadon hyping himself?

It was. I'm kicking myself that I didn't add pictures. Clearly my brain was not functioning properly yesterday. Stupid brain!

This dynasty has made me reevaluate Ox Mastadon as a singles star. He could do well in BCG or SAISHO.

He's the protege of Dread, so I definitely see him more as a SAISHO/PGHW touring guide. Ox has developed really well throughout this diary, dynasty. His entertainment skills really developed. He's a consistently good promo [i mean he pulled a B in a promo by himself]. My hope is that he and Riley get a lot more love in future games for people. They have both developed into studs, particularly for regional level promotions, though both are performing excellently now that we are Cult.

He wrestles with the same viciousness that his father, the legendary Rip Chord, is known for and if his career continues on the trajectory it is on he will be a member of the Hall of Immortals from TotalExtremeWrestling.com</p>

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed edition of Saturday Night Slammasters. We are on the continued road to Gold Rush. Last week Greg Keith and Deever Arnold punched their tickets to the sixteen man tournament. Tonight, four more men will punch theirs.</p><p> </p><p>

RDJ: That's absolutely right, Michael. Early tonight on ContinentalWrestlingLeague.com we also found out that North of the Border Wrestling will be sending Jay Chord to compete in the Gold Rush Tournament. He is added to a field that already includes Pride Glory Honor Wrestling's Yoshimi Mushashibo.</p><p> </p><p>

DH: Jay Chord is instantly the favorite in this tournament! He's going to win the whole thing!</p><p> </p><p>

JA: Have you gotten over it yet?</p><p> </p><p>

RM: Gotten over it? You cost me my match with KC. I explicitly asked you to not get involved -- but you got involved anyway.</p><p> </p><p>

JA: I was trying to help.</p><p> </p><p>

RM: I didn't need your help.</p><p> </p><p>

JA: Clearly you did.</p><p> </p><p>

RM: Excuse me? Before you had ever laced up a pair of boots, I was a Heavyweight Champion. I had won Gold Rush. A World's title. All by myself. I didn't need your help.</p><p> </p><p>

JA: I've been helping you since I got here. Watching your back. Cleaning up your messes. You need me.</p><p> </p><p>

RM: I don't think I do.</p><p> </p><p>

Aroma stares at Riley for a long moment before storming off.</p><p>

<p>We are proud to announce that OLLIE has submitted who will be representing their organization in the Gold Rush tournament!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>El Héroe Mexicano</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

El Héroe Mexicano is a luchador who had the honour of being trained by Champagne Lover. The youngster has all the tools necessary to become a big star in lucha libre; a fantastic look, strong charisma, tons of ability, and a desire to succeed. Even when he was still in training, prior to his debut, those who saw him wrestle practise matches were heard to comment that he looked like a world champion in the making. He now seems ready to take lucha libre by storm, and got his first break via his mentor, who arranged for him to join SOTBPW almost as soon as he turned pro. Héroe performed well for the company in the almost decade he was employed there but he was unable to capture any championships.</p><p> </p><p>

In May of 2020, he made the jump to OLLIE. Following Gino Montero there as OLLIE rose to Cult and looked like it could be poised to threaten the monopoly South of the Border Wrestling and its deep pockets had on lucha libre. While he has yet to win his first championship, he has continued to impress in OLLIE and is certain to one day be champion. He hopes that he can win the Gold Rush tournament and propel himself to true superstardom.</p>
