MR: Hello and welcome to our Sixth Anniversary. I’m Michael Riggs and as always, I’m joined in the broadcast booth by legendary wrestler The Sheriff. Ricky Dale Johnson and former elite manager and now commentator extraordinaire -- The Marshall Duke Hazard.

RDJ: It is great to be here, Michael. I know you’re the voice of Continental Wrestling League and this is my first Anniversary show. I’m incredibly excited to be here. I even busted out the Tombstone Sheriff badge cufflinks.

DH: Well hot diggity dog. Those are nice. I’ve been here for every anniversary show. I have managed on them. At the first Anniversary, I debuted The Hazard Gang. We made a statement at the expense of the Aces of Mayhem and boy was I proud o’ them.

MR: And The Aces of Mayhem are here tonight! The Hall of Fame duo, the first ever Tag Team Champions. They are back, for one night only, for the Sixth Anniversary.

DH: I definitely had my problems with them, my Hazard Gang waged war against them many times. They are a tough as nails tag team with over a decade of team experience together. I can’t take anything away from their ability in the ring. I’m just hopin’ they don’t notice I’m sitting here! I didn’t bring an extra pair of britches.

RDJ: That’s a smart thing to hope for. I definitely don’t want to smell that. I, for one, can’t wait to see Ross Henry and Killer Shark go at it again. Killer Shark defeated Ross Henry at Christmas Chaos through some shady means. Ross Henry is a guy who could be the biggest star in the business -- and I’m thinking tonight Mr. Colorado is gonna get even.

MR: We will have to wait and see, because that match is our semi final contest. Tonight is a jampacked card. Twelve big matches. Seven Championship matches -- three of them for World’s Titles. This is the biggest night of wrestling the Continental Wrestling League has ever put on -- don’t leave your seat.

The Aces of Mayhem versus Muscle & Fitness

Muscle & Fitness were out first. Richie and Justice have not lost an ounce of muscle mass in the time they have been away from Continental Wrestling League. The duo is received as the prima donna, arrogant heels they are portraying. Riggins is even carrying a handheld mirror to look at himself. It gets a good reaction.

Next out is the Hall of Fame duo the Aces of Mayhem. Ace Youngblood is in a resplindid headdress and Max Mayhem, always a smaller competitor, does look a little smaller than normal. He has slimmed down some in hopes of increasing the longevity of his career.

The match was not great. It was clear from the jump that Max is a shell of the performer he once was. Despite still being under forty, he’s probably several years past his prime and isn’t long for the wrestling business. Ace did well, but it was hard to make up for his partner. Richie and Justice were okay, but it seemed like they were a bit nervous being in front of the scold out crowd of 5,000.

The bulk of the match was spent with Muscle and Fitness punishing Max who was trying to get to Ace. Max did get to Ace, and Ace chopped both men down and hit Jolson with a Chaos Effect to secure the victory for the former two-time North American Tag Team Champions.

The Aces Of Mayhem defeated Muscle and Fitness in 7:59 when Ace Youngblood defeated Justice Jolson by pinfall with a Chaos Effect.

Foxxy LaRue versus Missy Masterson

Foxxy LaRue was making her CWL debut here. News leaked just before this show that she had signed on full time. The former QAW standout looked good against Missy Masterson -- former Women’s Champion. They went at it for almost nine solid minutes. Back and forth action that really woke the crowd up. They were unsure of Foxxy at the start, but she really won them over.

Missy caught Foxxy looking and hit her with an Identity Crisis that didn’t fully land -- but got enough of an impact to get Missy the three count.

Missy Masterson defeated Foxxy LaRue in 8:53 by pinfall with an Identity Crisis.

"The Canadian Wrestling Machine" David Stone versus "The Puerto Rican Wrestling Machine" Xavi Ferrera

Both men in this match claim to be a wrestling machine -- and both are probably right. David Stone is a third generation wrestler. Oldest son of Dan Jr. Not the oldest grandchild, but close to it, of Dan Stone Sr. Canadian Wrestling royalty. David is also a two-time Young Wrestler of the Year and looks poised to soon become one of the best wrestlers on the planet.

Xavi Ferrera is a former collegiate track star. A natural athlete, he excelled in Pittsburg Steel Wrestling before the Eisens came calling. He worked for the Eisens for several years before they let him go and he found himself in Continental Wrestling, trying to reestablish the momentum he had built in PSW. He has shown himself to be a man who can tear the house down in the few matches he has had in CWL.

This match was no different. Stone dominated the early part of the match with his technical wrestling prowess, controlling Ferrera’s positioning and even hitting one big impact belly to Belly suplex that caused Ferrera to take a break outside of the ring and catch his breath. It also allowed him to seize an opportunity and take control. Ferrera showed excellent wrestling knowledge and really went to work on Stone. The fans were really getting excited at this point. Ferrera went for a diving DDT, but Stone countered it into a Northern Lights Suplex.

David Stone defeated Xavi Ferrera in 10:51 by pinfall.

Houston Handley versus Alicia Strong © w/ Lisa Bowen

In our first title match of the evening, newcomer Houston Handley challenged Alicia Strong. It was a really strong showing from Handley -- who is most known for being a tag team wrestler in QAW and is getting her first real singles opportunity here in CWL. She came out incredibly fired up and showed that she has really developed into a good individual worker and not just a tag team specialist. She should a lot of fire. Quick strikes. Lots of lucha influence.

Despite her gusto, Houston Handley couldn’t hold down Alicia Strong. The former USPW and NOTBPW Womens Champion used a vicious knee to the gut to seize control and then it was all business. Alicia looked like she had an extra mean streak and was laying some stink on some of her strikes. An Angel Driver sealed the deal.

Alicia Strong defeated Houston Handley in 13:05 by pinfall with an Angel Driver. Alicia Strong makes defence number 2 of her CWL North American Women's title.

The Keith Brothers versus The Devil's Rejects © w/ February Malaise

The Keith Brothers earned this title opportunity by defeating The Fallen at Christmas Chaos. The Brothers are former COTT World Tag Team Champions and former winners of the Oxford Invitational. The Devil’s Rejects are in their fourth reign as North American Tag Team Champions -- breaking their own previous record of three times. They are also former COTT World Tag Team Champions and winners of the Oxford Invitational tournament.

From the get-go, this match was a beautiful mix match of tag team styles. The Keith Brothers are excellent technical wrestlers. Fast, fluid technical wrestling is in their blood. The Rejects are big rough and tumble brawlers who like to throw hands and feet and elbows and headbutts. Matthew and Greg showcased the kind of teamwork that only comes with having grown up together. Having spent their whole lives together. They clearly understood each other and where to be.

The Rejects countered with the kind of teamwork that you would expect from a team in their fourth reign as North American Tag Team Champions. Johnny Anderson hit Matthew Keith from behind when Matthew hit the ropes. This opened it up for Holly to go to work. The Rejects punished Matthew. Hard strikes, hard slams. They were in rare form. They weren’t missing a beat.

Matthew was able to slide over the back of one and make a diving tag to Greg. Matthew laid on the ring apron completely spent. Greg came in and hit several suplexes -- which definitely got the crowd off their feet to see both Holly and Anderson fly through the air. Anderson was the legal man when February Malaise tripped up Greg to stop his momentum.

Johnny Anderson punched Greg Keith hard in the face and whips him off into the ropes. Keith bounces back and eats a size fifteen leather boot right into the face. The big boot was nasty and it looked like it knocked Greg Keith back to his sixteenth birthday. Matthew is still lying on the ring apron from the beating he took. The lights go out. They are out for several moments before they come back on. Referee Ray Johnson looks incredibly disturbed. Keith Holly is now laying on the ringside floor. Johnny Anderson is flat on his back with Greg Keith on top of him. Ray Johnson has no choice but to count the three, despite being visibly confused.

The Keith Brothers defeated The Devil's Rejects in 12:57 when Greg Keith defeated Johnny Anderson by pinfall. The Keith Brothers win the CWL North American Tag Team titles.

Greg and Matthew Keith are now tag team champions, but they are out of it. Scythe and Hellion emerge and roll into the ring and the assault begins. Scythe and Hellion dismantle the new North American Tag Team Champions. It is a vicious assault. Scythe hit two huge chokeslams and then laid Greg ontop of Matthew. Hellion climbed to the top rope and the massive man flipped backwards for a not-pretty but very effective moonsault onto the twin brothers. Father Grim stands on the entrance ramp and he just grins.

KC Glenn versus "High Flyin' Hawaiian" James Adams versus Horton Ravenwood ©

Horton Ravenwood is the first person to hold both the GWC World Junior Heavyweight and World Heavyweight Championship. The Australian Pro Wrestling stand out just recently won the World’s Title, defeating fellow Australian Louie Louie -- who had defeated Gino Montero. Ravenwood also has been doing a solid job as Junior Heavyweight Champion, working a lot in both OLLIE and PGHW.

James Adams has developed into one of the premier junior heavyweights to come out of America in the past decade. Starting in CZCW, he moved to RIPW before being let go and finding his way on the RMW/CWL roster. He also did several tours of PGHW -- becoming a standout gaijin performer. He is a former CWL North American Tag Team Champion with former partner Ekuma.

KC Glenn is widely considered the best American junior heavyweight. He started in MAW where he earned himself a way onto the Burning Hammer roster. He became well known in Japan for sensational performances, but has also become integral to the CWL roster where he works full time now.

This was a very good, very competitor Junior Heavyweight style match. Most people watching either in attendance or live on television only knew Horton from the video package that played while he came out. It took a few moments, but his impressive athletic background really helped get the crowd into him.

This was not a match that used the traditional pacing of a match. This was a Junior Heavyweight showcase that looked like it would belong in a sumo hall in Japan or in San Diego. They went back and forth with all three men getting an opportunity to showcase what they could do. Adams went for a big Swanton Bomb onto Ravenwood but missed and roll out of the ring. Glenn caught Ravenwood flush with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band and got the pin to win the World Junior Heavyweight Championship.

KC Glenn defeated James Adams and Horton Ravenwood in 11:20 when KC Glenn defeated Horton Ravenwood by pinfall with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band. KC Glenn wins the GWC World Junior Heavyweight title.

Ranger versus Cameron Vessey © w/ Lisa Bowen

Ranger and Vessey put on a very good match. Ranger worked like the six-foot-ten asskicker that he is and Vessey got to play the mixture of chickenshit and precision working heel. Ranger dominated the early portion of the match before Lisa made the distraction to let Vessey get the upper hand. Vessey went at the knees to chop the big man down, and Ranger kept on the move. Vessey had to stay on him -- but Ranger never stopped moving or backed down. Ranger kept moving forward.

Ranger went for a big boot that Vessey blocked and then countered by getting the big man up into the Vessey Driver II. Vessey got the pin and retained the United States Championship.

Cameron Vessey defeated Ranger in 8:57 by pinfall with a Vessey Driver II. Cameron Vessey makes defence number 2 of his CWL United States title.

"The Cornerstone" Riley McManus versus "The Headhunter" Jeffery Aroma w/ Lisa Bowen

The reaction for Riley McManus was amazing. The crowd was incredibly excited to see The Cornerstone back in singles action. He had a brand new satin ring jacket that looked right out of the early 80’s but really fit him.

The Headhunter got a lot of boos as he walked out with Lisa Bowen. He is no longer in his standard bodyguard attire -- he’s still in long pants but now is in a white tank top with his fists taped up heavily. Bowen was all smiles as she walked next to the newest monster in Bowen Services. So far, her stable is 2-0 on the Sixth Anniversary.

This match had zero feeling out. This is a grudge match. Former friends and partners. Now bitter enemies. They came right out. Riley was more reminiscent of the old Georgia Bulldog. Filled with fire and throwing fists instead of just being his normal technical leanings. Aroma, kept pushing him back and throwing hands. This was a slug fest. A big right hand busted open Riley McManus above the eye.

There wasn’t a moment that wasn’t action. Riley, with blood covering half of his face, threw three headbuts at Aroma that dropped the big man to his knees. McManus went for the Slingshot Suplex but he couldn’t lift the big man. Aroma pushed him back and caught him with a right hand that landed flush. Aroma followed the big right hand (that almost dropped McManus) with the Complex Choke Slam for the pinfall victory.

Jeffery Aroma defeated Riley McManus in 14:28 by pinfall with a Complex Choke Slam.

The Diaz Family versus Gangsta Nation © w/ Brother G

This is the Diaz Family’s first trio match as a unit in over a year. Gangsta Nation, the reigning Six Man Champions, have turned into a well oiled machine. All six men are known for their ability to brawl -- though the Diaz Family is also known for raw power.

Gangsta Nation worked well as a unit, isolating Logan from his cousin and uncle. This was a very physical affair -- the most physical affair of the entire night really. Ali, Slick, and Muvva were wrestling/fighting like they had something to prove and the Diaz Family was wrestling like they were trying to prove something also. It made for a thrilling contest.

Raymond hit a Ray Gun on all three members of Gangsta Nation but wasn’t able to capitalize with a pinfall due to positioning -- and the fact that Logan was the legal man. Ali and Muvva took Raymond and James to the outside and they were exchanging heavy blows. Inside the ring, Logan set Cali Slick up for a Belly to Belly Suplex, but Brother G hopped up. Brother G got a punch in the face for his efforts, but Logan ended up eating a Slick-Back and Cali made the pin.

Gangsta Nation (Sayeed Ali, Cali Slick and Hustle Muvva) defeated Diaz Family (James Diaz, Logan Diaz and Raymond Diaz) in 13:24 when Cali Slick defeated Logan Diaz by pinfall with a Slick-Back after Brother G interfered. Cali Slick, Sayeed Ali and Hustle Muvva make defence number 4 of their GWC World Six Man titles.

Homegrown versus The Fat Cats ©

Clyde Puder and Jakob Yoder -- now going by Homegrown -- were looking to get back on track and get a measure of revenge on The Fat Cats -- who are becoming widely regarded as one of the best tag teams in the world with some recent sensational performances in PGHW, UEW, and NOTBPW.

With the obvious size advantage, Homegrown dominated the early part of the match at Carl DiBiase’s expense. Carl was sent all over the ring as Clyde and Jakob took terms slamming him and working him over.

Some shady teamwork got The Fat Cats back in control . They isolated Jakob and really worked him over. They took him down to the mat and really worked over his knee. Lots of knee bars, elbow drops to the knee, spinning toe holds -- everything they could think of. Yoder went to make a tag -- but Puder was nowhere to be found.

Paul Huntingdon had pulled Clyde down. This left Yoder to be schoolboyed by Trescarde -- who used a handful of tights to help him as The Fat Cats got the victory.

The Fat Cats defeated Homegrown in 14:44 when Monty Trescarde defeated Jakob Yoder by pinfall with a handful of tights. During the match we also had Paul Huntingdon run in and attack Puder. The Fat Cats make defence number 9 of their GWC World Tag Team titles.

MR: And now some words from the challenger for the North American Heavyweight Championship… Matty Faith.

gP5kPOf.jpg

MF: My whole life I’ve lived in a shadow. The shadow of the great Christian Faith. One of the greatest champions of all time. One of the biggest names in the history of this sport. He was a great role model. He taught me how to ride a bike. How to shave. How to drive an elbow into the center of my opponents chest. He gave me a name that opened doors for me. I am forever grateful for that, but he also put a lot of expectations on me. He was one of the greatest of all time. That is what I have to live up to. So far, I have succeeded. I have won World Tag Team Championships. I’ve won regional championships. Tonight… Tonight I win the North American Heavyweight Championship. Tonight I make my own legacy and step out from the shadow of my father.

"Mr. Colorado" Ross Henry versus Killer Shark

Killer Shark looked incredibly impressive standing on the stage, covered in water droplets and snarling. It was an incredibly intimidating sight. Ross Henry, on contrast, was wearing brand new Colorado flag looking tights that helped really get the crowd off their feet. They were already witnessing a great night of wrestling action and were in for another thrilling bout.

Ross Henry really took it to Killer Shark in this contest. The crowd loved every thing Ross was doing in this match and when Shark locked him in a bear hug that looked like it was crushing Ross’ back, the crowd gasped and begged Ross to get free. Shark squeezed harder -- veins in his arms and shoulders bulging. Henry’s fingers gripped Shark’s shoulders and his face was contorted into a look of absolute pain. A picture-perfect still shot.

Ross fought out of the bearhug, fought to get free. He went to lift Shark -- and he got him up, but Shark raked the eyes to get dropped and then blatantly kicked Ross Henry in the groin in front of Ray Johnson to get the disqualification.

Ross Henry defeated Killer Shark in 13:44 by disqualification.

MR: And now some words for North American Heavyweight Champion, Spencer Spade.

vqLKfQh.jpg

SS: In just a few moments, I elevate Continental Wrestling League even further. In my first defense, I will be taking on Matty Faith. The man with a silver spoon in his mouth. The son of a legend. Coddled. Protected. That’s fine. I don’t get mad at that. He’s the son of a legend. I was the hand-picked heir to the throne before it was stolen from me. My destiny was taken from me. I was left to blaze my own path -- a path that took me right here. To the North American Heavyweight Championship. I am the Supreme Star and tonight… Tonight I will vanquish the chosen one and continue to take this company exactly where I know it should go.

Matty Faith versus "The Supreme Star" Spencer Spade © w/ Lisa Bowen

Matty Faith came out in a modified version of one of his father’s old ring jackets. A jacket he wore at Supreme Challenge when he won the SWF World’s Title for the first time. He looked focused. No Ranger. No second. Just himself and the opportunity. The opportunity he had been waiting for.

Spencer Spade came out with the North American Heavyweight Championship and Lisa Bowen and looked every bit the star he has been telling people he is.

This match was everything the people had hoped for. It lived up to the hype as Spade and Faith wrestled the match of their careers. For over thirty minutes, they waged a back and forth war. Each had control for stretches of the match and missteps opened it back up to each of them.

Spade hit a Supreme Stunner. One. Two… KICK OUT! Matty Faith kicked out of the Supreme Stunner and the crowd came out of their seats again. Spade looked at Darren Smith in disbelief. Nobody kicks out of the Supreme Stunner. He pulled Matty up and put him onto the top rope. He looked like he was going to go for a Supreme Stunner from the top rope, but Matty fought out of it and knocked Spade to the mat. Spade was flat on his back and Faith looked around at the crowd. He was in position. They went silent as he stood on the top rope. Faith lept off, his elbow bending and preparing to drive down into Spencer’s chest with a picture-perfect Leap of Faith.

When he hit the elbow, the crowd exploded with cheers. Faith made the cover. ONE...TWO...TH… NO! NO! Spade kicked out. Just in time. The crowd gasped. Both men looked exhausted. Faith climbed to the top rope again, but Lisa Bowen hopped onto the apron. Faith yelled at her. Smith yelled at her. The distraction allowed Spade to recover. He crotched Faith and pulled him off the top rope. Another Supreme Stunner. One. Two. Three.

Spencer Spade defeated Matty Faith in 32:20 by pinfall with a Supreme Stunner after Lisa Bowen interfered. Spencer Spade makes defence number 1 of his CWL North American Heavyweight title.

<p>And with that, we have officially hit our sixth anniversary and are in our seventh year. We've also officially hit the 150 show milestone. The Anniversary show was our 150th show that I booked, but 149th show to air -- the subsequent Slammasters was the 150th to air. It seems like only yesterday I was putting the card together for The Climb and relying on a motley crew of 13 guys to carry me through. Now, I've got a sizable roster and I've got really quality names and we're putting on good shows time in and time out.</p><p> </p><p>

This show as also the best show we've ever put on. I'm very proud of that -- because it was fitting for an anniversary show to become the best show we've ever done. It was also fitting for the anniversary show to be our 150th show -- as it was our 100th, 75th, and 50th show. I do not believe it will be our 200th show, so this might be the last major milestone that it carries.</p><p> </p><p>

Some questions for you all!</p><p> </p><p>

What was your favorite match of the Anniversary show?</p><p>

Is there a program or angle you're really into right now?</p><p>

Is there a program or angle you are really hoping to see in our seventh year?</p><p>

Is there a talent you're really hoping to see get featured?</p><p>

Is there a talent you're really hoping goes away?</p><p> </p><p>

As always, thank you for your continued readership and participation. The participation is what helps make the diary feel alive -- as I definitely draw feedback from what you're reacting to to try to help shape the narratives and feature people that you're digging. So, keep reading! Here is to another six years.</p>

<p>Really enjoying this diary still, love how you have had it develop and mature over time.</p><p> </p><p>

I cant wait to see what's next for aroma and McManus after their feud ends</p><p> </p><p>

Looking forward to the end of Henry vs shark too and what comes next for them both, perhaps aroma vs shark and Riley vs Henry again?</p><p> </p><p>

Enjoying where spade and Bowen are taking things to</p>

<p>Congratulations on the anniversary, as well as keeping the save and diary going for so long.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>What was your favorite match of the Anniversary show?</strong></p><p>

Third best would be Diaz family vs Gangsta nation, I'm biased towards dem gangstas and a good chaotic brawl all over the place. Second best was the main event, you put a lot of work into narrating it and it was pretty captivating, on top of both men's background stories going into it. My favorite though has to be the Keiths vs Devil's Rejects. Two teams I enjoy, an outcome that could have gone both ways, a match that had both grappling and brawling and a finish that, while shady, kept everyone looking strong and furthered the Keiths-Fallen feud.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Is there a program or angle you're really into right now?</strong></p><p>

Not really, but take that as a compliment. There's no single feud overshadowing the rest, CWL has a little bit of everything for everyone, enough stuff to keep it interesting but not too much to the point where you need to keep tabs on stuff and look back to remember previous happenings.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Is there a program or angle you are really hoping to see in our seventh year?</strong></p><p>

I'd love to see a proper build for Foxxy LaRue. My alternative would be to see David Stone go on an Undertaker-esque streak with the belt that could help elevate him, the title and whoever breaks it before Stone moves on to bigger and better things.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Is there a talent you're really hoping to see get featured?</strong></p><p>

Like I said, Foxxy LaRue. I'm also intrigued on whether Killer Shark can actually develop some in-ring skills and be more than just a big menacing monster heel in short matches.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Is there a talent you're really hoping goes away?</strong></p><p>

Missy Masterson. There, I said it!</p>

  • Sixth Anniversary is official the best rated show CWL has ever done, just beating out 2021's Independence.
  • TotalExtremeWrestling.com has officially classified the yearly 'Anniversary' show as Above Average in importance. This is the third of CWL's shows to be classified as 'Above Average' by the wrestling press -- Independence and Christmas Chaos are the other two.
  • The Texas Junior Heavyweight Title was won initially by Duval Dubois. He lost the championship to Ralph Liotta.
  • Clinton Westybrook has been recalled from developmental. The decision was made that he was ready for the main roster. He impressed CWL officials with his match against David Stone on Saturday Night Slammasters.
  • The Boys from the Yukon have signed full time contracts with CWL. Most recently, they were each employed by the SWF where they had been in RIPW -- Howlin' Mad Mort had been RIPW Champion -- both had been working on the SWF main roster for about eight months before their contracts were not renewed. They did a few independent shots before being brought back to CWL to add even more depth to the deepest tag team division in North America.
  • CWL has signed a new merchandise deal with Big Fish Toys to produce the first line of signature of CWL action figures. The first name announced for the new action figure line is Riley McManus. The Cornerstone is the longest tenured CWL employee -- having been employed since the company first opened its doors. A former two time North American Champion, a former Tag Team Champion, former winner of the Gold Rush and Oxford Invitational Tournaments -- and is a two time World's Champion. He makes a fitting choice for the first announced action figure.
  • On the upcoming episode of Saturday Night Slammasters, CWL will be presenting a gauntlet match. The winner of the gauntlet match will challenge Cameron Vessey for the United States Championship on the following episode of Slammasters, so make sure you do not miss this week!

We are don’t have a figure head. It’s just a little narrative I thought would give Riley another feather in his cap — especially with him being out of the Heavyweight title picture right now.</p>

<strong>[saturday Night. Little’s Bar]</strong></p><p> </p><p>

We had rented the whole bar out. It was closed for a private event. Our event. Our celebration. Tonight we had done it. We had celebrated six years in business. Six years since The Climb. Since sixteen people other than myself -- fifteen wrestlers and one referee -- started us off on this journey. Tonight we would celebrate not only hitting the six year mark, but also the one hundred and fifty show mark and the best show we have ever had. I knew it sitting there. I knew it producing the show. It was something we could be proud of. A show that would stand the test of time. It had started off underwhelming, but purely fan service. I was saddened by Max’s performance. I had thought about maybe bringing the Aces of Mayhem back. Give them a nostalgia babyface run, but Max can’t go anymore. He can’t perform at the level we needed. He wouldn’t be able to keep up with The Rejects, the Fallen, hell, the boys from the Yukon. It was only going to get worse and I didn’t want to cheapen his legacy. I did not want him to have to suffer that. Riggins and Jolson were fine. They weren’t spectacular, but they were fine. I’d have to continue to monitor them in TGL. Would they find solid footing again? Only time would tell.</p><p> </p><p>

Foxxy was a prospect I was high on. She had a lot of experience, was still relatively young, and would add more depth to work in our Women’s Division. I let Missy get the win at Anniversary to thank her. Missy has done a very good job, been very consistent and a true pro. I wanted to reward her. In hindsight, I probably should have put Roxxy over. It would have set up a natural challenge with Alicia and have given us more babyface wins on the Anniversary show. We did feature a lot of really strong heels on the show. Spencer in the main. The DQ win of Shark -- yeah Ross won but it really kept Shark looking strong and kept that going -- Vessey retained. Strong retained. The Fat Cats retained. Missy won. Gangsta Nation retained. Aroma won. The Fallen looked really good. It was a night to set up what was coming next. I had some apprehension about getting so much heat on the show, but I went with it.</p><p> </p><p>

Tonight probably wasn’t the night to use hindsight. Tonight was the night to celebrate. It was the night to celebrate that Matty Faith and Spencer Spade put on a match that could main event anywhere in the world. Eric and Jerry had to be kicking themselves that they let those two go. Packer had to be kicking himself that he didn’t lock them up. Same with Germaine. They had to be mad. They tore the house down. Five thousand fans were out of their seat. Five thousand fans were hooked on every moment of that match. Thirty two minutes and twenty seconds of action. Thirty two minutes and twenty seconds of a main event that felt like a main event. </p><p> </p><p>

Tonight was a night to celebrate that Riley McManus made Jeffery Aroma a legitimate singles star in one match. Aroma had done incredibly well on the Live series. He had been a good United States Champion, but he still had not developed his own identity. He was still Riley’s bodyguard. It had been several months since the turn, but this was the first time for them to lock up just the two of them. It went incredibly well. Riley got color. There was a point where half of Riley’s face was covered in blood, his fists were up. It was a sight to see and I mean a sight to see.</p><p> </p><p>

I looked around the bar. My crew. Riley with the bandage on his head nursing a long neck and talking to Lisa. Barry’s daughter -- who had fully come into her own here. She had been a passable valet for Sam. Good, but not great. For me, she had become a manager extraordinaire. She had become key to our success. The manager of champions. Consistent. Stable. KC was with them. He and Marjorie. The father of my future grandchild. The World Junior Heavyweight Champion. A good kid. A bit of a nerd, but a good kid.</p><p> </p><p>

The Rejects. Keith and Johnny and February. As good as a tag team as you could find. Nice guys. Kept to themselves. Liked to ride and drink and wrestle and entertain. Ox. Big man. Big appetite. Dedicated. Clyde and Jakob. Two students who stood out from the pack. Alicia. Daughter of my old friend Sam. The best female wrestler on the planet. I knew it. She knew it. We wanted the whole world to know it. David. Lucy. Cameron. Greg. Matthew. Matty. The Diaz Family. The business was in their blood. We featured guys who had ties to the business. Who were born to be in the business. Who lived and breathed and grew up in it. Who understood it. Understood the ups and downs. The demands of the road. Who could just feel the crowd. Could take them on that roller coaster.</p><p> </p><p>

We were a motley crew. Most of them wouldn’t fit in if they had a nine-to-five. They weren’t built to be cogs in a corporate machine. Wearing ties and showing up to work on time. Salesmen. Insurance agents. None of my guys were cut out for that. They were vagabonds. Drifters. Cowboys. Outlaws. People who didn’t belong in polite society. But I loved them. They were loyal. They were good people. Hard working and honest. They loved what we did. They gave me everything they had. I knew that. </p><p> </p><p>

So tonight. We celebrate. Work could start again later. Tonight, we were just going to enjoy each other’s company. Enjoy the fruits of our labors. Our success stories. They had earned it.</p>

<p>Some thoughts on the diary:</p><p> </p><p>

- I'm amazed at how much story you're able to convey with so few words. Six years of game time, the last few doing five shows a month, and it was still a relatively quick and easy read. The shows are well laid out and the none of the narrative pieces overstay their welcome, and yet there's still a complete, engaging, and easy to follow story being told.</p><p> </p><p>

- I love that you've been able to evolve your company without ever losing its identity. I hate when companies in a diary reach a certain size, hire a bunch of new guys, and the original characters you originally got interested in are pushed aside and quickly disappear. You've avoided that by focusing as much on developing talent as you do on hiring. Where you do bring in guys, they're always workers who fit in well with your company's style.</p><p> </p><p>

- Your booking has been very astute, especially with how you protected yourself during the heavy-poaching days. I think the Puder signing was the only time you were caught with an actual hole in your roster.</p><p> </p><p>

- Not on you, but what's with all the reader hate for Missy Masterson? She's always been a good worker for me.</p><p> </p><p>

- The only sour note for me in the entire dynasty is Spencer Spade's promos. Every time I see the words "sports entertainment" I want to throw something at my screen. It's "go-away heat" to an old-school traditional crowd. If they wanted that smarky, meta, wink-at-the-audience, flirting-with-breaking-kayfabe, shoot-promo style, they wouldn't be watching CWL. </p><p> </p><p>

I mean, I'm not some Jim Cornette-style "never expose the business!" puritan, but every time I see someone wink at the audience <em>during a show</em>*, I lose a little bit of connection with what I'm watching, and it adds up over time.</p><p> </p><p>

Other than that, Spade is a great hire, and the overall character he's playing is fine. Just stop having him say "sports entertainment".</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

* I'm fine with breaking kayfabe outside of shows, like in podcast interviews or on social media. Just don't insult me during the actual wrestling program.</p>

I've been a little unsure if the promos were capturing the feel I was going for. I wasn't trying to go for the worked-shoot angle as much as I was trying to establish his 'Big League Star' gimmick, especially since he came from SWF. I don't think I was able to really capture that part of the gimmick with the sports-entertainment thing and trying to use that to mean he was separating the big time from the smaller time. Moving forward, I think I will tone down his use of the sports entertainment part to make himself seem like a BLS and capture that part in a different way.</p>

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed edition of Saturday Night Slammasters. We are coming to you from Sunrise Sunset here in beautiful Hawaii and we are fresh off the heels of our Sixth Anniversary. If you missed what critics are calling the best pure professional wrestling show to happen in North America in quite some time, it is not too late to get it On Demand or to purchase your own copy at ContinentalWrestlingLeague.com. Tonight, we present our first ever Gauntlet Match! The winner of the gauntlet match will wrestle Cameron Vessey next week for the United States Championship. Ricky, you had a wrestling career that lasted for almost three decades. I know you were in a couple of gauntlet matches in your time, what is the secret?</p><p> </p><p>

RDJ: In my opinion, Michael, the Gauntlet Match is the toughest match to prepare for -- because you can’t really prepare for it like you would any other match. There are seven men in this gauntlet match. That means you have to potentially prepare for six opponents. Six men who all wrestle differently. You have to prepare for that. You could wrestle all night. You could only have to wrestle once. It is very challenging to get yourself in the right mindset.</p><p> </p><p>

DH: Now, I’ve never been in a gauntlet match myself, but I’ve done been ringside for several. It’s also incredibly difficult on your body because if you win you have to immediately wrestle a fresh opponent with no break. It cannot be easy.</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="GNkzKok.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GNkzKok.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

MR: I can’t imagine it is. Before we get started, The Fallen sent us a video tape that we are going to play for you now.</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="31AYHyY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/31AYHyY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="3msiqkr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3msiqkr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="WIgT1ne.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/WIgT1ne.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

We cut to a pretaped video. It is not quite clear where we are. It is dark and grimy feeling. Scythe and Hellion tower over Father Grim. Silent. Stoic. Two colossal men at the bidding of the sinister man in the middle. Grim straightens his tie and speaks.</p><p> </p><p>

FG, “Ring around the rosey. Pocketful of posies...A childish rhyme. A way of explaining a plague. Of explaining tragedy. Of explaining loss. We are men that have lost. Lost our way. Lost faith in ourselves and had to find it again. It was the common bond that brought us together. See, I was a lost soul wandering this planet in search of meaning. I found it. I found it in being the shepherd herding lost sheep back to safe pasture. I found these lost souls. Outcasted from the Empire they had so loyally served. I have brought them back to pasture. I have turned them from sheep to wolves…</p><p> </p><p>

Greg and Matthew, you are no different than the fans that crowd the arenas. You are lost. You have been lied to. You were lied to by people that crowned you princes of professional wrestling. Heirs to a throne that your father never occupied -- only served. All of his accolades. All of his accomplishments. They said that you were going to carry on his legacy. Carry on his name. But did the Empire call you? Did the Kingdom of Hollywood call you? Did the Billionaire in Atlanta call you? No. No one called you. Japan took you. They took your body. They took your blood. They took everything you had to give but they gave you nothing in return, man. They gave you nothing! They lied to you! They told you what you could be. What you should be. What you would be… But that wasn’t true. It was us… Us who made you something. It was the Fallen who gave to you the North American Tag Team Championships. It was The Fallen that gave you something to hold onto. </p><p> </p><p>

Most men are soldiers fighting in other people’s armies. Fighting to become legends. Fighting for immortality, but we are not soldiers. We are the Fallen. We are the Specter of Vengeance. We seek retribution on all those who have lied. Who have sold lies and profited on those lies. We are your Salvation, Greg and Matthew. And you…. You are welcome…</p><p> </p><p>

The pretaped recording ends.</p><p>

No Law or Order is coming up in a couple of weeks. I want you one more time. It can be a street fight. It can be a cage. It can be anything. Me and you Shark. You name it. I’m there.</p><p>

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed edition of Saturday Night Slammasters. We are coming to you from the world famous West Texas Coliseum in Amarillo, Texas. Last week, we had a gauntlet match to determine who would challenge Cameron Vessey for the United States Championship tonight. Former United States Champion David Stone won the Gauntlet match and he will challenge Cameron Vessey in our main event.</p><p> </p><p>

RDJ: It was just a few months ago that David Stone and Cameron Vessey engaged in some classic contests for the United States Championship. They had two time limit draws before Cameron Vessey was able to get the United States Championship. Now, CWL doesn’t have an automatic rematch clause, so David Stone had to earn his way back, but earn his way back he has. Vessey is going to have his hands full.</p><p> </p><p>

DH: But just like he did at Thanksgiving Thunder, Cameron Vessey is going to hit that Vessey Driver II and he’s going to walk out with the United States Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

LD: At the Sixth Anniversary, we had the opportunity to win the World’s Six Man Championships. To bring them back to the family…. But we didn’t realize that Gangsta Nation didn’t want to fight fair. They had to use Brother G.</p><p> </p><p>

JD: And it’s okay that they did. ‘Cause we knew that they were punks. They were afraid to fight us straight. That’s okay. Because now we know where we stand. Now we know what we have to do.</p><p> </p><p>

RD: And that’s bring the fight right to them. Right to their front door.</p><p>

JY: Y’know, we felt really good going into the Sixth Anniversary. We felt for sure that we were gonna be World Tag Team Champions. We were sure we were gonna beat the Fat Cats and it was gonna be a great day. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t ‘cause of that Blue Blooded Bastard Paul Huntingdon.</p><p> </p><p>

CP: And since Paul wanted to stick his nose in the match and cost us the World Tag Team titles, Jake. I put in a call. A call down to Arkansas where my family is still workin’. See, I got me a cousin. He’s a big ole boy. He’s six feet five, he’s close to three hundred pounds. We grew up together. He used to slop the hogs together. Built fences together. My cousin, now he’s a little rough ‘round the edges. He ain’t pretty like me. But he likes to throw hands. I told my cousin that me and Jakob needed a little hep’. Needed someone to stand with us ‘gainst these Money Talks sons’ o guns. And he said okay. So he’ll be here. He’ll be with us at No Law or Order. So y’all best get ready.</p><p>

Another great show! I think the promo with Father Grim and the fallen really works.

Agreed, though it felt odd when he added ",man" to the end of that sentence. Details, but thought I'd point it out.

Croquemitaine also made some points I agree with. To answer the Masterson question, for me she has a very punchable render, plus being a QAW/indy fan I can't help but see her as a big league star and sports entertainer.

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed edition of Saturday Night Slammasters. We are coming to you from the The Warehouse in Downtown Long Beach, California. Last week, David Stone became the second man to ever win the United States Championship for a second time when he defeated Cameron Vessey in our main event. Tonight, Ox Mastadon will be in action against the newly returned Chill.</p><p> </p><p>

RDJ: Chill made his shocking return two weeks ago in the Gauntlet match -- and while he was ultimately unsuccessful, he’s looking to get his return to CWL back on the right track with a win against former North American Heavyweight Champion, Ox Mastadon -- as tough as an opponent as there is for anyone.</p><p> </p><p>

DH: Ox held the North American Heavyweight Championship for eleven months. He was a dominant champion who is also looking to get himself back in the mix ‘round here. With David Stone now United States Champion -- I could see Ox going after that belt so as not to go after his Bowen Services stablemate, at reigning champion, Spencer Spade.</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="GNkzKok.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GNkzKok.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="vqLKfQh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vqLKfQh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9CEP5Gv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9CEP5Gv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Spencer Spade comes to the ring and he is all smiles. He’s accompanied by Lisa Bowen. He’s got the North American Heavyweight Championship wrapped around his waist.</p><p> </p><p>

SS: Y’know. I’ve been thinking. Thinking hard. Thinking of who deserves an opportunity to challenge me at No Law or Order… And quite frankly, I couldn’t think of anyone. There isn’t a man here who deserves an opportunity at me, at the North American Heavyweight Championship, so I think I’m going to take the month off! Y’all won’t see me at No Law or Order…”</p><p> </p><p>

Spade is cut off by Hailey Hunter, currently acting as the liaison for the matchmaking committee. </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="5bjzwBM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5bjzwBM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

HH: Spencer. While you are right about one thing, you’re wrong about something else. You will not be defending the championship at No Law or Order -- but not because we don’t have a challenger…. Because you will be competing in a Five on Five Elimination match. At No Law or Order it will be Bowen Services competing as a unit against The Mission, The Georgia Bulldogs, and Bulldozer Brandon Smith!”</p><p> </p><p>

Spencer and Lisa look incredibly upset as Hailey walks off.</p><p>

KS: Ross Henry, you want me one more time… You want to know what my conditions are? Fine. Me and you. Strap Match. See, as a child, my father used to tan my hide with a leather strap. If I acted up, he taught me the importance of correcting my mistake. So you want me? I want us to be connected by leather… Just you and me and a leather strap. That is my condition.</p><p>

KH: In my whole life, I’ve never had anyone do to me what Hellion and Scythe did. The Fallen… The thieves is more like it. They stole from us, didn’t they Johnny? They stole what wa ours.</p><p> </p><p>

JA: They sure did. And when someone steals somethin’ from us, we’ve got to get back a pound of flesh as penance. So I hope you’re ready. ‘Cause we’re coming for your penance. </p><p>

<em>- Tough call. I'm going with the set unit over the slapped-together team, but I don't know if you want to end another big show with a heel win</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I went away for work for 3 days and come back to a whole month of shows, cant believe the pace you have been able to post... Was a pleasant surprise to say the least... Just glad I didn't miss the prediction for the big show

Main Event

Ten Man Elimination Tag

Sixty Minute Time Limit

The Mission, The Georgia Bulldogs, & Bulldozer Brandon Smith versus Bowen Services

I think the faces have to win here to keep the fueds going

Semi Main Event

Singles Match

No Time Limit

Strap Match

Ross Henry vs. Killer Shark

I feel it makes more sense for Ross to go over as there isn't much room at the top for shark just at the moment

Six Man Tag

Forty Five Minute Time Limit

Homegrown & Danny Puder versus Money Talks

The heels to go over by some underhanded means

Singles Match

Forty Five Minute Time Limit

North American Women's Championship

Amber Allen versus Alicia Strong © w/ Lisa Bowen

Its not nearly time for strong to lose the belt yet

Six Man Tag

Forty-Five Minute Time Limit

GWC World Six Man Championship

The Diaz Family versus Gangsta Nation © w/ Brother G

I want to say the Diaz family finally get the win but there is a part of me that is doubtful and the gangsta nation will somehow retain

Singles Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

United States Championship

Mayan Idol versus "The Canadian Wrestling Machine" David Stone ©

Stone has only just regained the belt so I don't see him losing it yet

Triple Threat Tag Team Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

North American Tag Team Championship

The Fallen w/ Father Grim versus The Devil's Rejects w/ February Malaise versus The Keith Brothers ©

again it is to soon for the Keith's to drop the belts, rejects take the fall for the fued with the fallen to Continue

Opening Match

Singles Match

Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit

Lucy Stone-McFly versus Nina Cacace

The coin flip choice of the night I feel
