olivertaylor276
Hello everyone. This is my first dynasty here on the Grey Dog Software forums (and my first dynasty in general) and I'm really excited to try and bring a new, exciting and fresh take on booking WCW in 1997. I will be using the Montreal Aftermath mod and starting as if it was the December 1, 1997 edition of Monday Night Nitro. Please don't hesitate to give me feedback, positive or negative! But before we get going, let's take a look at this week's dirt sheet round-up. DIRT SHEET ROUND-UP - Ric Flair has become the new head trainer of the WCW Power Plant wrestling school On last week's Nitro, the annoucers heavily promoted that Flair had suffered a "severe ankle injury" during his match against Curt Hennig at World War 3 and would need to take several weeks off. It would appear that this angle was designed to write Flair off television so that he'd be able to become the new head trainer at the Power Plant. Despite Flair's age, he still wants to be an active in-ring competitor but WCW's creative team reportedly doesn't have him penciled in for a match at Starrcade. With Flair's well-documented tensions with Eric Bischoff and previous reports of Flair feeling angry with his push in WCW, one has to wonder if being left off of the Starrcade card would be the last straw for Flair. - Time Warner has blocked Eric Bischoff from negotiating new TV deals in the international market Time Warner reportedly feel that negotiating TV deals with stations not under their own media umbrella will limit their coverage. As a result, Eric Bischoff was forced to cancel WCW's pay-per-view deal with Foxtel PPV, a broadcaster based in Australia. Time Warner now have sole broadcasting rights to WCW's pay-per-views. However, Nitro and Saturday Night will continue to have international coverage, for the time being, as WCW aren't interested in paying the termination fees that would be demanded by their current broadcasters. In an attempt to counteract this, Bischoff is heavily pushing for WCW to create their own commerical network to air Nitro, Saturday Night and possibly a third show starting in early 2018. The possibility of this actually happening, both the network and a third show, largely weighs on the revenue for WCW's upcoming pay-per-view, Starrcade. - WCW spend $500,000 renovating Power Plant Per the request of Eric Bischoff, WCW officials have given the green-light for a mass renovation of WCW's Power Plant. The facility will now be able to serve as a full-fledged developmental system. The wrestling school and developmental system are considered as two seperate entities, but both are ran by Jody Hamilton. Ric Flair is the head trainer of the wrestling school and Terry Taylor is the head trainer of the developmental system. WCW have already began putting out offers to various talents to join their developmental. - WCW looking to add international talent Through their working agreements with Promo Azteca and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, WCW's roster is expected to see an influx of international talents. NJPW wrestler Yuji Nagata and Promo Azteca tag team Los Villanos have both been acquired in talent exchanges. Rey Mysterio Jr. and Psychosis have been loaned to Promo Azteca, while Chris Benoit and developmental talents Louie Spicolli and Lenny Lane have been loaned to NJPW. Meanwhile, WCW are also said to be negotiating non-exclusive contracts with Great Sasuke, Lizmark Jr. and Jushin Liger. - Cruiserweight division overhaul With the new incoming talent for WCW and the debut of WWF's light heavyweight division, WCW's creative team are expected to take steps to make the cruiserweight division feel re-energized and exciting. Amongst the reported changes are a stricter weight division and potentially cruiserweight tag teams further down the line. Expect the cruiserweight title to feature on Starrcade in one of the marquee matches. - Appeasing the Hulkster Previous reports have speculated that Hollywood Hulk Hogan's contract with WCW is set to expire some time in the spring of 1998, and it would appear that WCW's latest personal moves have indirectly confirmed those reports. Sources have stated that WCW have made offers to Brian Knobbs, a close friend of Hollywood, and Horace Hogan, Hollywood's nephew. Many people in the industry consider Hollywood to be the most globally popular figure in wrestling and re-signing him will obviously be a top priority for WCW next spring.
