My parents have been watching AEW, bearing in mind they haven't watched wrestling regularly since we started watching IMPACT in 2010, but they watched a bit of WWE and they're stunned that WWE is the big leagues. They think the production on AEW is loads more professional and that WWE looks like a low-budget indie. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> They also find it hard to believe that WWE has been that successful in the past given how bad they think it is now.

I also don't want to see Cody turn heel, but they're ever so subtly hinting at it. The Cody we've seen since DoN is not the same Cody. His promos, his role in his matches, etc.

 

I want him to stay a face so badly since he gets insane pops and has amazing babyface fire, but I think by the end of the year (or later, it'll be after fans come back) he'll be a heel.

I like the idea of Cody and the Bucks actually being heels — because I still think they’re at their best when they’re on that side — while Hangman is the actual good guy of The Elite. (Hangman + FTR would make for a funnnnnnn trio.) Kenny gets pulled from both sides in the middle.

 

But, yeah, Cody still gets so much babyface pop that it’ll never fully happen.

Haha! I'm a huge fan of Spears and I loved his heel turn and the rationale behind it. I think the pandemic really put a damper on his search for a partner. I've said it before, but I'd LOVE Tully leading a stable of workers. Tully is still one of the best mic workers out there. Him leading a stable going against a face Arn stable would get me so hyped.

 

Rachael Ellering's dad has so much history with Tully that it would be awesome if he took her under his wing too.

Cody is a great heel, but I think you're right. It'd be hard to turn him heel because crowds just love the guy.

I believe that was originally the plan for Double or Nothing. I don't think they'll do it until crowds are back and they feel MJF is ready to hold the belt.

Tessa would be a bad look for AEW. She suffers from locker room elitism, refused to do jobs at the last minute that she had previously agreed to and is racist (with witnesses to back that up).

 

Thunder Rosa and Deonna (who isn't on a permanent Impact contract) have expressed interest in AEW so I wouldn't be surprised to see them join at a later date. For now they have enough women to get by until international travel restrictions are eased, especially once Britt and Statlander are healthy.

 

I mean, AEW is all about the bad look. Joey Ryan, Jimmy Havok didn't need a #SpeakOut to know those two goofballs had no place on a primetime wrestling show. Cody's neck tattoo, hiring and moon pushing Sammy Guevara, cosplay wrestling skits that are built-in advertisements. I mean this isn't a company that put much thought into any of this. They just gobbled up all of the top indy names and some young guys that the WWE would never want or see anything in to get over and hired all the friends they want to give jobs too. If the point is, you want to see quality women's wrestling then putting a backward woman in with Sonny Kiss, Nyla Rose, and a very multicultural lockerroom sounds like the idea you want to run with, if you're interested in rehabbing the second or third best female worker in NA. At least this bad look has upside as opposed to all of the other bad looks they've had so far.

Cody would have to stab Hangman in the back, costing him a title shot out of jealousy or "injuring" him in a big stunt to get booed. And they would have to time it just right so we don't see it coming like when Rollins turned on Reigns and Ambrose.

I would say so. I'd have MJF lose and feud with Wardlow before slipping into the TNT title scene. Mox should lose the title to Omega at the following PPV.

It's probably the most popular theory right now, but Moxley should lose to Omega, who then drops the title to Hangman.

Omega A) doesn't have the momentum to be even a transitional champion, 2) MJF is ready right now. 3)The Hangman character was designed to be turned heel. You wait out the crowd and you turn him, this whole thing is supposed to lead to Jericho vs. Omega III at some point. You can't do that with Omega as the heel. And you sure can't do it with him having a truncated transition run in the middle of it. Just give the kid the run. He's earned it.

A) Omega wouldn't win the title until Full Gear, which is five months away. That's plenty of times to get momentum going, especially with a heel turn.

 

B) MJF is ready, you're right, that's why I think the main event of All Out will be MJF and Moxley (or FTR/Bucks, but both matches happen). I still think Moxley will win.

 

C) The Hangman character was definitely designed to turn, but the crowd got behind him way too much.

 

 

I also don't see Kenny as a transitional champion at all. I can easily see him reigning from Full Gear until Double or Nothing (6-7 months) or All Out (9 months I think?) If that's a transitional champ, then nearly every reign in wrestling is transitional. Kenny can have a very strong reign. This will also even him up with Moxley at 1-1. It's getting his win back.

 

The way I see it right now:

Best Friends beat Page/Omega (with Kenny heel turn), Moxley beats Cage at Fyter Fest.

 

Kenny beats Hangman and Moxley beats MJF at All Out.

 

Kenny beats Moxley at Full Gear, Hangman has a new storyline.

 

Kenny wins at Revolution against Jericho to win their trilogy (or beats someone else, not sure).

 

Kenny wins against TBD at Double or Nothing as well.

 

Hangman beats Kenny at All Out, their biggest show, to win the title and complete their story arch.

As much as I enjoy the chemistry between Kenny and Hangman, I miss New Japan Kenny. Other than that tag match against the Bucks, "The Best Bout Machine" hasn't really shown up in AEW.

 

Cody vs Dustin is still probably the best match AEW has had in my opinion.

I see Kenny as less than mid card, as a person who's only exposure is AEW, and sorry you kind of have to go from there when booking.

This makes me so sad lol. Although I do understand if you've never seen Kenny outside of AEW.

 

He is legitimately a top 5 wrestler in the world. Most people would attest to that too I would think. He's amazing.

For sure, but they also have Jungle Boy and Wardlow who have insane potential as well.

 

If AEW can keep their talent healthy, then the future is certainly bright.

Agreed. Wardlow reminds me of Batista when he was in Evolution. Darby Allen has got a nice combination of Jeff Hardy's daredevil no fear streak and Sting's Crow look about him. Not sure if he'll be World Champ but he'll be a fan favorite for as long as he is there.

If they didn't have that tag match you'd believe the WWE hype machine that Kenny is a fraud. Even with it, he's wasted 18mos for his prime, putting people over. And that's being very, very kind.

Hangman is a mid-card Jabronio with a gimmick that's over. The only time I've seen him have a great match was when he's with The Elite guys in a tag set. He reminds me so much of Yoshinari Ogawa. Decent, tag guy for life. Got in with Misawa(The Elite) and they're going to kill their company trying to get this guy over. I see nothing in him as a singles. Absolutely nothing. Rich Franklin of AEW.

Yikes. Wardlow is a bum. Check the ratings splits when he's on the screen. Nosedive city. They need to get rid of him, or put a mask on him, or something. Because that guy is killing their quarters right now.

 

Darby is going to be one of those guys that's gotta be given mic time. And he's not getting nearly enough. I like the story for him between himself and Cody. But again. He needs a promo, he's got everything else.
