Orange Cassidy still relying on that one hands-in-pocket high spot for pops is getting a little tiresome...partly because it doesn't look that impressive anymore after having already seen Darby Allin wrestle for several minutes with no hands. Time to have an actual match, methinks.

You aren't kidding. I've been trying to wait until they actually let him wrestle on TV to form an opinion oh Cassidy and it seems like AEW management is positively allergic to that move. Heck, the match doesn't even have to be on Dynamite. Much as I struggle to wrap my head around the idea, I know streaming on the Internet and TV are considered synonomous this these days. So put the match on AEW Dark. Just let those of us who jumped in with the debut of Dynamite see him in the ring. Being laconic as Jr put it and looking like Kyle Lowder can only get you so far.

Although the attack from Brandi can be both a good and a bad sign. Good because if they have a story for her she'll at least be staying a while. Bad because if this leads to her wrestling Brandi Rhodes then I have no interest in seeing it. Hopefully Brandi'll be bringing in henchwomen to do her fighting instead.

Bea and Riho have joint contracts with both companies, so I could easily see Hayter getting something similar. I don't think she's actually under contract to Stardom anyway though.

I'm with you on hoping she won't be in a feud with Brandi. Brandi has no business being in the ring for a company of this size. If she wants to wrestle, let her go work smaller indies on the weekends so she can actually try and improve. Awesome Kong is her henchwoman, but I think she's only been on some of the PPVs and not Dynamite yet IIRC.

He's in the old Elias role where he's got a distinct character and gets good reactions doing out-of-the-ring segments. Might as well run with that awhile and let other guys get the match time.

I have never seen Orange Cassidy wrestle, and I have a feeling I'm going to hate it when I do. I don't mind him too much in the small doses they're currently putting him out there for though.

Was he in the ring any on the pre-per views? I thought I remembered hearing that but I didn't pay nearly as close attention to the cards of the pre-TV shows.

I think he might have been in a pre-show battle royal at Double or Nothing, but I was moving that day and didn't watch that show.

So far it's just been that one spot with Dreamer and some front row crowd stuff on TV. And if you haven't seen him work, it's exactly what you'd think. If you're looking for reality-based wrestling, you're going to get hands in his pockets 2nd rope commando rolls, and rope walks, when he's got the glasses on he does a slow-mo gimmick, he's got the juice box spot... he's got an act.

He had an amazing match against David Starr at Beyond Wrestling.

Don't sleep on Cassidy. Dude used to be Fire Ant in Chikara and is a great worker.

I can’t stand Britt Baker. I saw her at an ROH show in Pittsburgh and I was standing next to a group of her friends and family. They were obnoxious and tried to start “Brittsburgh” chants during EVERY match.

She’s not good in the ring either.

I just read a report saying Tessa Blanchard’s Impact contract is over. I’d love her to come to AEW. She would be a huge get and they really need the star power and talent she brings to the table.

As long as they don’t have her wrestle men like Impact does.

That’s about the only way AEW would lose my support.

Thank you. So good to see Cassidy on a different stage and see him be more than the one note gimmick. And good seeing it be against Starr as well. Seen Starr some in RoH and didn't get why they didn't make more of him. Good to see Cassidy can stack up when the time comes. That should make digesting his current shtick a bit easier.

https://www.f4wonline.com/daily-updates/daily-update-randy-couture-la-parka-ratings-notes-295806

Ratings can be confusing and misleading but as far as the key numbers to advertisers and normalized to be fair, based on the actual audience that has access to the show as opposed to making it unfair based on homes that don't even have the channel, these were the 18-49 ratings for this past week:

UFC .47

Smackdown .77

Raw 1.01

Total Divas .17

NXT .28

AEW .61

As far as costs to the network for the episode:

UFC $10 million

Smackdown $4.02 million

Raw $5.10 million

Total Divas $400,000

NXT $588,000

AEW $500,000 plus a percentage of advertising points

AEW Dark this week:

- Dustin Rhodes & Sonny Kiss vs. Peter Avalon & QT Marshall

- Jimmy Havok vs. Darby Allin vs. Jack Evans (Falls Count Anywhere)

- Allie vs. Penelope Ford vs. Saddie Gibbs vs. Emi Sakura (Fatal 4-Way)

Also some good news for the roster:

There will be no live AEW Dynamite episode on Wedneaday December 25th. A holiday highlights special will run instead. Talent will be off from Dec 19th to January 1st.

AEW has a weak women’s division and I think that’s something that could be an easy fix.

Hire Cheerleader Melissa, Tessa Blanchard, and Mercedes Martinez to bolster the ranks.

Tessa, I don't think wants to go, and Mercedes and Melissa are, unfortunately, spent forces, as least as divisional lynchpins.

Another good Dark show.

- Marshall & Avalon vs Dustin & Sonny was a solid match. Dustin was good of course but it was mostly a showcase for the 3 lesser known talents. Sonny stood out.

- Ford vs Gibbs vs Allie vs Emi was good but there were some weird cuts (presumably to cover botches). Emi got to show more of her personality and moveset. Looking forward to her getting a title shot at her pupil.

- Loved the MJF interview. Kip Sabian being a dick to Alex was some much needed character development for him.

- Havoc vs Evans vs Darby was great.

Love that interview segment in general. The stories are so inspirational and they give you a great view into each subject. Really reminds you that these amazing talents are still very much human as well. Not to mention how apropros the concept is given how Cody started on the road to forming AEW in the first place.

My favorite part of MJF's though is him saying he's never felt undesirable on the professional level. That will really feel like a bit of foreshadowing if and when his AEW persona becomes more like the one he has in MLW.

- Sammy vs Page was good. More fired up promos from Page please.

- Shanna vs Shida was good. More fresh blood for the women's division. I only know Shanna by reputation but she impressd.

- The Lucha Underground style vignette with Brandi and Kong was unexpected. PnP taking out RnR Express was an effective heat angle. Nice Road To style segment with Tony and Cody talking on the way to the arena but it went a bit long for TV.

- Marshall, Reynolds & Silver vs Best Friends & OC was a fun squash.

- Contract signing was perfect.

- Hybrid2 & Sabian vs Kenny & The Bucks was good. That Kenny entrance video was interesting. PnP strike again.

- A wild Mox appears to cut a wicked promo.

- Lucha Bros vs SCU was great. I'm shocked SCU won but I'm OK with it. 3 month reign tops before PnP or Lucha Bros take the titles off them.

If there's one quibble I had with Dynamite this week, it's to ask why Private Party's interaction with the Rock & Roll Express had to coincide with the ad break. I'm guessing that since PnP laid waste to Ricky & Robert that Private Party was dapping them up and showing respect. But regardless, I'd like to have heard that exchange.

Need to watch the FITE app version to get the whole show. It wasn't much of an exchange anyway. Just a few mumbled words of respect.
