As the match came to an end, I wondered if I liked it only because of the brutal nature of the match (ladder, table, chairs and tacks bump). In reality though, it actually was due to the underlying story between the two. They hate each other and that was evident in this one. The kicking and punching in between the moves told a story of two people who couldn't even be by each other without fighting. That's one thing I think wrestling is missing right now. A lot of the time, as you watch matches, you see wrestlers thinking about their next move. In some cases, guys do 'dumb things' just so they can be in their spot for the next move that's coming. It can 100% take you out of the action. In reality, I'd prefer more of a slower-moving match where there's a level of realism between each impact (i.e. what we saw between these two often between the moves). Not everyone can tell a high speed story like young Rey Mysterio Jr. can. I'd like Matt Hardy if I didn't have to sit through him in ring. He's never been a beacon of athleticism per se but he's looking to be in rough shape right now physically. Truthfully, moving full time into a manager would probably be his best bet. That said, his current persona needs a bit of a shift for it to really work. It's not terrible. He just needs something to change up his look or the way he talks. Regarding psychology, I read an interview with Wardlow a few weeks ago where he'd said the guys he learned the most from psychology wise, telling a story in the ring, were MJF and Hangman Adam Page. And speaking of, I think Rey Fenix is getting a lot better in that regard. Both his second match with Penta and his recent match with Matt Jackson had a bit of drama beyond Rey Fenix saying "Kiss my butt, laws of physics!" (which is fun, don't get me wrong). One thing I love about AEW is that enhancement talent like Bononi can blow a spot badly against Luchasaurus and still get a chance to redeem himself instead of being exiled to catering. Enjoyed Kaz getting in Christian's face. - Pinnacle vs Varsity Blonds & Dante was good. Team Taz is fine... - Lucha Bros & Laredo Kid vs Young Bucks & Cutler was great. I think we're getting closer to Trios belts. Good stuff with Omega & the Young Bucks. - Jade is money. Mox/Eddie are money. - Nyla vs Conti was good. Big win for Tay. Post-match was interesting. - Silver vs Darby © was great. 5 sacrificing himself and Silver using the Queenslayer were nice touches. Brawl! Lots of great wrestling and a variety of good promos. Facebook and Instagram is flooded with people upset with her for "disrespecting" Foley. She heeled it up and it was great. I love when wrestling is unpredictable and not terribly formulaic. That leads me to the Tay Conti vs Nyla Rose match. Nice hard-hitting women's match where I again was surprised by the winner. Jade Cargill looks like a superstar. Million-dollar look. Britt is getting so much better at her promos and her character is developing really well. Mentioning the props from Foley then trashing him was a great way to get heel heat. By the way... the lights out match with Rosa last week was brutal... in a good way. It was really physical, they definitely left it all in the ring. Bononi has a great look. Hopefully, he gets more time on Dynamite.
